We had a lovely day there. The breakfast was good in the morning and the room was impeccable.

Everyone at the hotel was so kind! The gentlemen at the valet were so friendly as well. Beautiful hotel and room!

The same staff has been there for many many years. The management always greets us, the front desk remembers us, the valet does too. The bartender knows what we drink and we only stay there one night every 3 or 4 months. They have a great selection of cocktails and mocktails. Room is always clean with a special treat left in your room such as fresh fruit or macaroons. My favorite place to stay in downtown Houston.

I had the most wonderful experience staying at The Lancaster Hotel. From the moment I arrived, the valet and front desk staff were incredibly warm, professional, and welcoming. The hotel brilliantly blends historic elegance with modern comforts, and the rooms were absolutely immaculate. The complimentary mini-bar snacks and artistic decor were such thoughtful touches. I also thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast and the convenient walking distance to downtown's top spots. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Houston!

The Lancaster is always exceptional!

The restaurant staff also seemed poorly trained. Some employees openly asked for tips, which I found unprofessional. In addition, the hotel provided restaurant coupons, but when questions arose, staff claimed that the restaurant was not connected to the hotel. This created confusion and gave the impression of poor communication and training. The bell staff also appeared inconsistent in their professionalism. I often saw one bellman hiding and using his phone, and at times his shoes appeared worn and untidy. These details may seem minor, but they affected the overall impression of the property. I paid between $600 and $800 per night for my stay, and unfortunately, I did not feel that the quality and service justified the price. That said, not all of my experiences were negative. There were several friendly and helpful employees, and in particular, the oldest member of the bell staff was exceptional. He was consistently kind, professional, and welcoming to every guest I observed. His attitude and service stood out and left a very positive impression.

I loved the breakfast options, dining room, and length of time it was open. I loved how helpful and welcoming the bellmen were each day that I left and returned. I loved how kind and attentive the hotel restaurant staff were. I loved the central location of the hotel downtown. We were able to get to mostly every place on foot. The only issue that I experienced was a long wait time for the shower to get hot, but it got there, and it was a small inconvenience given how well everything else was about our stay.

This is a very nice hotel. It is small and very well-appointed. The staff are professional and efficient; the rooms are comfortable and well maintained. The room service is delicious and fresh. They always do an excellent job with guest service. I highly recommend this hotel for a stay in Houston.

Every detail is perfect at the Lancaster. I’ve stayed many times over the years and forget just how good it is, from free snacks in the room to a delicious full breakfast, down to the small details like Frette towels, Bulgari soaps and a beautiful art collection. Convenient location and friendly staff. Highly recommend.

Stayed here with my wife over the weekend for a staycation. Room was great and within walking distance from bars and restaurants downtown. Staff was nice, hotel was beautiful and historic. Would definitely stay again.

Free breakfast was good. Offered fresh fruit, eggs, bacon. Much better than the average free hotel breakfast.

The BEST hotel in Houston.

The floor in our room was covered in some kind of sticky chemical. Then the floor was sweating all night making it a wet sticky mess. We had to wipe our feet with wet towels to clean them before getting under the blanket. It was disgusting!

Mike is a world traveler but never one to comment on hotels..but he came back loving the Lancaster! From the free minibar treats to the turndown card featuring Nebraska..we are big Lancaster fans now!

The location is great. The hotel is beautiful and very quiet. The staff, with the exception of the staff of the restaurant located downstairs, is amazing! Everyone from the team greeting you and opening the doors for you when you arrive to the team checking you in, are so attentive and friendly. Anastasia checked us in and greeted us with 2 glasses of champagne as well as sent us a bottle to our room two days after on my birthday. I shared with her during our check-in that we were there to celebrate my birthday and she remembered! She made our trip extra special!

Most pleasurable stay I’ve had in a long time.

This would be an ideal spot for an anniversary or special occasion. Everything felt well taken care of and inviting. We also ordered room service, which was delicious, and the breakfast was just as impressive. We will definitely be coming back and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

It would be nice if the rooms had coffee instead of espresso and room service was open past 10 Pm. I tip well and it was kind of a slap in face to decide my tip on room service

Complimentary soft drinks and snacks in room and free delicious breakfast. I loved this hotel and definitely would recommend.

From the welcome team outside and at the front door, to the reception team, and the onto the staff that brought my meal to my room (in quick time I might add), everything was exceptionally done.

Upon arrival, we received the best greeting from the very nice doorman to the front desk. The hotel is beautiful and decor and has a very nice full bar and restaurant where we enjoyed dinner one night as well as multiple lunches we were lucky to get a corner room, which was very spacious and had great views of Houston. We were thoroughly impressed and enjoyed receiving full use of snacks and drinks in our room that were replenished daily. The breakfast buffet in the morning had a great variety of options and was very good as well. I highly recommend staying at the Lancaster Hotel.

I actually moved hotels for the last night to get a good nights sleep. I walked in and this place was a breath of fresh air, clean, nice, and most importantly quiet!! I just which I would have switched sooner.

Our room was spacious, comfortable, and oh- that breakfast bar was a great way to start the day! We will certainly stay at the Lancaster on our next visit to Houston.

Our room had major plumbing issues. When we first checked into the room, the toilet took 2 tries to get the water to flush (not go down, but just to get water into the bowel). After that, the running water into the toilet tank would not stop -- it was loud in the small room. We reported it to the front desk and they had "engineering" come up. He was able to fix the constant running in the toilet. However, in the morning, when we wanted to shower, the water would run out of the main tub faucet, but the lever to switch the water to "shower mode" did not work at all. We hadn't tested it out when the "engineer" was in our room - didn't think it was necessary to check all the plumbing. At that time of the morning, we didn't budget extra time to have another plumbing fix with "engineering". VERY FRUSTRATING. In addition to the plumbing issues, our room did not have any "in-room complimentary snacks/beverages" as advertised. We had an expresso maker w/cups, but no expresso. We had lovely glass dish that looked like it was supposed to have some sort of snack or confection, but it was empty. It is a great location to enjoy downtown (although our evening was delayed waiting for the "engineer" to fix the running toilet). For the price, I expected MUCH better. I am giving our stay two stars since the valet service was great. We will not be staying with the Lancaster Hotel ever again and you can be sure we will NOT be recommending it to any friends, family or colleagues.

Room was good and people were nice however breakfast was inedible really really bad. Juice in the room fridge was also spoiled. This place is very closer to the theatre which we like but the amenities were certainly not in line with the price. Should also note that it took three separate calls to book a room and then they quoted 40 dollars more than Expedia. When I asked about the difference I was just repeated the rate quoted before. We have stayed here multiple times but next time I think we will go to one of the Marriotts or even the Hilton 😞shame because the rooms are nice and the location is excellent.

Unfortunately, before 5:00 AM, a loud and unbearable noise started coming from the bathroom - apparently caused by high‑pressure water. The disruption completely ruined the experience, making the stay far from restful and undermining the entire reason for booking the room. It simply ruined our day.

This is my favorite hotel in Houston, love the service and breakfast is amazing. Love the Nespresso machine in the rooms and the snacks :). It feels luxurious without being pompous, staff is so nice and helpful.

We ate dinner at the restaurant, food was very bland(no seasoning on chicken, or any vegetables), and when signing receipt I noticed costs $25 to charge our dinner to our room number. So I suggest to pay with card or cash instead, and this was not mentioned by staff prior. Service was excellent though, throughout entire time. All staff was so lovely! Bathroom wasn’t as clean as I thought it should be. When taking a shower the water flew over the lip and got the floor wet so had to put down three towels to dry floor to get ready for our night. Breakfast did not service pancakes or waffles, just a bummer is all, there was not enough chairs to accommodate guests and no silverware or cups so we waited awhile to be able to even eat and/or drink.

This hotel was exceptional! The staff was friendly and helpful and very professional. It is apparent they are there to demonstrate excellence! The rooms were great and luxurious and the pricing was affordable. I would recommend this place to everyone!

Guests receive a $25 certificate for food, beverage, and room service. Macaroons upon arrival in the room and complimentary champagne upon check-in plus turndown service. 5 star all the way. Actually, we can’t wait to stay here again!

Stayed here for our wedding anniversary and the stay was wonderful. Loved the location in the theater district and there are a number of 24 garages around the area if you don’t want to valet. This one comes with a wholehearted recommendation

This hotel is gorgeous. The location is magical. The breakfast is delicious. The rooms are incredibly nice, spacious and comfortable. The best part? Every single member of the hotel staff acted like they absolutely loved working there and were so happy to have you stay there. We were waited on hand and foot by a truly joyful staff. I have never experienced anything like it before in my life. We will never stay anywhere else again when we travel to Houston.

Everything was as expected— room spotless and serviced every day, wonderful included breakfast buffet, and available car service (extra charge) to and from the airport.

Nice rooms, nice that they give you snacks in room, on/site restaurant has very good food, very helpful staff.

We had a short overnight stay, but everything was almost perfect. The only complaint I have is that the mattress was quite firm. Otherwise, service, views, and the room itself was very well done.

Friendly staff, comfortable bed, great breakfast.

The breakfast included is varied and great tasting, room and lobby are beautiful and the restaurant downstairs is great for meeting with clients.

Great to have snacks at night after the symphony or play when it was too late to go out to eat. Only issue was luke warm- to cool shower water. However, I did not complain to desk as I figured it was a whole floor or building issue(not just my room).

While it was a very nice hotel, the penthouse suite left a lot to be desired. The size of it was much too small to be comfortable for two adults one over 6 ft tall. Other than the small room, everything else was amazing.

All was fine except the breakfast buffet: cold eggs, sausage. Ran out of bacon which was very good.

Beautiful hotel. Wonderful location. Great snacks in the room. Rooms run small since its a old hotel. Only 2 elevators for all floors including for staff use, so there can be a wait. Especially if one of the elevators goes down, which happened on check out day. Other than that, really enjoyed it.

Beautiful Hotel with great customer service

Everything from booking to checkout was amazing. The staff are super friendly and knowledgeable, rooms were clean, breakfast was great, shower pressure was amazing and it was a quick walk to Daikin Park. We loved the glass of sparkling wine at check in and the macarons that were in our room. We were very fortunate to have our room upgraded and loved the handwritten note and bottle of sparkling that was graciously left for us. Truly a top notch experience and this will be the only place we stay whenever we need to be in or near downtown Houston

I don’t think me and my boyfriend will want to stay anywhere but here when coming to HTX! 10/10! The service was phenomenal. The hotel is gorgeous. The staff is extremely friendly and professional. Lastly, the rooms are the perfect mix of elegance and comfort. We loved our stay and are already planning the next weekend getaway.

We never stay anywhere else since we discovered The Lancaster. Upscale, Elegant and simply First Class.

This is a great option for downtown Houston. I had a light filled corner room, a very comfortable bed. Nicely finished bathroom with decent soap and shower gel. Breakfast choice was good and wholesome and the restaurant served some delicious food. Everyone was very friendly and efficient - special thanks to restaurant staff and receptionists. I’m not sure if my travels will bring me back to Houston, but if they do, I’ll be back!

Service was great except that on Saturday early morning I was awakened by an errant housekeeper ringing my doorbell saying I had already checked out (uh, no) and wanting to clean the room. Much of the hotel is just not very clean. It needs attention.

There was some confusion in my end about a complimentary breakfast option and I didn’t feel it was handled/acknowledged particularly well by any of the staff that I engaged (I actually felt one of the more senior staff was rather rude). It didn’t spoil my stay as it was fundamentally not a big deal to pay for a service I wanted, but it had been a misleading “up sale” in writing (w/o being adequately acknowledged) and i asked for clarification of how to use the feature and wasn’t made aware that my room didn’t include it. Again, not a dealbreaker but I’d of had even more raving reviews if there’d been a more thoughtful or earnest acknowledgement of how I’d been misled

Pretty property; large rooms. Very clean. Crankiest staff I have ever seen. Nobody that worked there was particularly kind or otherwise happy to be alive.

No one checked up afterwards to see if everything was ok which is the least I would have expected from a luxury hotel. The original artworks were a nice touch, as was the Bulgari toiletries. But that smell was really unacceptable in this level of establishment and the room should have been kept out of service until that was resolved.

I had a good stay at The Lancaster Hotel. The staff, especially Alex at the front desk was very helpful and attentive! They offered amazing service from the door to your hotel room and it was a great experience. One downside is that if you’re a light sleeper like me, the rooms aren’t sound proof so you can hear your neighbors and those in the hallway. Other than that, I had a great time.

This was a slight splurge and worth every penny! The location was ideal and the lobby and rooms were luxurious and comfortable enough to work from. The decor was impeccable throughout. I enjoyed the included breakfast and also chose to have lunch in their ground level restaurant, which was fantastic. 5 stars all around!

The property is lovely and well situated in the arts district. I will always stay here when attending the Houston Grand Opera. The restaurant offers a good selection of small and large plates with servers providing recommendations that I have greatly appreciated. The complimentary breakfast buffet has better quantity and quality than most other hotels' similar amenity. The free snacks are unparalleled and promptly replenished daily. The Bulgari toiletries are quite the luxe touch. And congratulations to whoever runs the HVAC which is never too hot or too cold: just right!

Exquisite concierge. As a treat (for us) this was an experience. The room was dated, but only in the way that it fits the era of the Lancaster. Everything was meticulously maintained and clean.

Elegant, quaint and well located in downtown Houston. The 1926 hotel is beautiful and well maintained. The breakfast which was included in our stay was fabulous with plenty of options. Also, free in room snacks were replenished daily. There are many walkable close by restaurants, however, they have a restaurant and bar on site.

At check-in, hotel needs to describe procedure for getting room cleaning done.

Nice property, rooms were a little cramped and missed features like an in room fridge and counter space as the sink was just a basin on the wall. Location was good for theatre district.
