Reviews
The hotel reviews indicate a mix of positive and negative experiences. Guests generally appreciate the cleanliness, proximity to the beach, and the variety of amenities, but express dissatisfaction with the high prices, lack of food options, and inconsistent service quality.
- Clean and well-maintained property
- Close proximity to the beach
- High prices for rooms and amenities
- Inconsistent service quality

Everything was super clean, having all the restaurants and shops on site made it like it was its own town. Beach access was great and we were allowed to use our shibumi shade.
- 4/5
This was a perfect property for our family to stay at. Steps from the beach and lots of pools and restaurant choices! Would definitely stay again!
- 4/5
I booked through Expedia. I was not happy to see a $100/day “resort fee” on the final bill from the resort. Seems like this should have been included in the total price, or disclosed in bold when booking through Expedia.
- 3/5
Check in process was easy. Our room was clean and it was very nice to have access to multiple pools, the beach and pool towels. We had a leaking AC unit that flooded our floor and it took them 12 hours to fix it. Also, valet is mandatory making it harder to go anywhere fast.
- 5/5
Great stay-& great staff- no issues - pools were on the smaller side & beach chairs are very crowded
- 5/5
Aside from that, everything was truly top notch. The room was beautiful, comfortable, and clean, the pool area was fantastic, and the overall resort atmosphere was relaxing and welcoming. The food was great, and the location was perfect — close to so many things, including various tourist tours and activities. The service was honestly some of the best customer service we’ve experienced. Everyone we interacted with was so kind, helpful, and accommodating, which made the stay feel extra special. From the pool to the food, the staff, and the overall experience, Hyatt Wild Dunes Seagrass exceeded our expectations. We definitely plan to come back and would highly recommend it!
- 4/5
Staff was okay, not overly friendly at all and front desk person not as warm and welcoming on checkin and check out. Felt like a bother really. Last issue - adult pool needs it's own hot tub. We went to the main pool since it was cooler and misty raining and there were tons of kids in the hot tub, unsupervised, playing, dunking each other, etc. No staff member seemed to be aware of anything going on at this pool and even the manager did nothing when we asked as we had to get out of the hot tub due to being splashed, bumped, etc. Not sure I would return based on other experiences elsewhere.

Alway great stay!! Love coming back

The service and food at the Oystercatcher in the hotel were just mediocre- too bad they don’t raise the quality there. Overall we had fun but there is a lot of room for improvement.
- 5/5
I loved everything about my stay. The people, the food, the property. From the moment I arrived, until the early morning that I left, everything was perfect. I can't think of anything I wish was different, except that I wish I could have stayed longer.
- 5/5
We had a wonderful trip to wild dunes! The grounds are great, and the staff were phenomenal.

- 3/5
Room was nice, not immaculate but good enough with a little dating. Other than Marc, staff wasn't all that helpful. No one explained anything about the property. Bar manager and one other front desk person were inflexible. After paying a small fortune to stay, we thought we could have expected some things to be included but nothing was. Not only that, everything is at a premium, way overpriced. Waiting 1.5 hours for pizza at Coastal Crust wasn't my idea of a relaxing vacation restaurant experience. Nice pools, nice beachfront. Great breakfast at Coastal Provisions. We'll come back to the Charleston area but definitely won't stay at Wild Dunes. We could have spent a week in Europe for the same money.
- 4.5/5
The room was nicely appointed and quiet. The bed was very comfortable. The shower was excellent. The staff were incredibly helpful. The food was very good. The beach is wonderful. Would love to have had free beach chairs and umbrella. Complicated to figure out if I wanted to spend each day at the beach (weather unpredictable) and how long I wished to stay at the beach each day.

Very nice hotel. The beach could be a lot better but the amenities, shops and restaurants are good.

Close to the beach Overpriced, rude staff, slow housekeeping, far from the city (if you'd like to explore it), not that many food options around, technically free parking but so few spaces you have to be lucky to find one - otherwise you have to pay for valet parking.

Our room was nice and had everything we needed. Unfortunately, housekeeping lacked a little to be desired (we watched the same piles of sand and debris on the bathroom floor stay put there our entire stay). One day we even had to call close to 5:00 to see if housekeeping was planning on coming. The resort boasts several restaurants but not all were family friendly. We ate off-resort for the majority of our stay since we were tired of pizza. A couple last things we will mention for those looking to stay… beware of the resort fees that are charged every day and then are also taxed. Ours were right under $100/day. They also tell you that you need to valet your car with them ($35/day I believe). You are able to self-park if you so desire. We decided that next time we visit the area, we will VRBO as the resort didn’t offer all that much for the prices that they asked.

Everything thing was awesome

Everything was impeccable. Many thanks to Taneka at Oyster Catcher for amazing service and a sparkling personality. Also thank you to the bartenders at Grand Pavilion on 3/23 for taking care of a concerning situation with tact and respect.

We loved this resort! It was comfortable, convenient, and had a touch of everything for everyone. A great stay.
- 4/5
I made the reservation for my son and wife. We live two blocks from the hotel but do not have room for the whole family to sleep. I had to go to Hotels.com for reserving rooms to save a bit of $$. Residents of Wild Dunes should get a break on price. But the kids who slept in our house got to enjoy the pool.
- 3.5/5
The view from my room was spectacular! Many pool options available. Staff were kind. Beach was well kept. I was charged double for my stay. Awaiting a refund of $611… My room also did not have any plates or eating utensils… parking was limited… lastly saw a roach in the front lobby.

Great resort, beautiful beach, ton of restaurant and food options. Close enough to Charleston for a day trip to town. Would highly recommend.

Beautiful facility! Room was large, very clean and arranged comfortably. Particularly liked the two-room bathroom. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Valet parking in and out was quick and efficient. No complaints at all from us except that we couldn’t stay longer!

Great service
- 3/5
The inn was great and staff was all very nice. They say there is only valet parking but you can just park on the city right of way on the street in front. Room service came by at 8:00 am the day we were leaving and seemed ready to get rid of the guests as soon as possible.
- 5/5
Amazing location right on the water, with lots of amenities on site. Loved the multiple dining options too. Great for families. Definitely would come back again.
- 3/5
First off, the front desk insisted there was only valet parking for $35 a day when there was self-parking available for free. When I reserved the room, it was supposed to have an ocean view which it did not. When I asked about it, the front desk told me to contact Expedia. Before I got on the phone with Expedia I asked the front desk if there were any ocean view rooms available and was told there were not. Very frustrating. Breakfast downstairs was an ordeal. Although there were only 2 couples sitting in the dining room, when I asked for a table for 2 the first morning I was immediately asked if I had a reservation. We did not, and proceeded to wait for 10 mins while they figured out where to seat us. The wait was not bad, it was just the silliness of asking about a reservation when there were NUMEROUS tables available. We ordered from the menu and the food was DELICIOUS. Strongly recommend avoiding the very overpriced basic buffet and ordering off the menu. The room was clean and the mattress was very comfortable. Beach access was easy to navigate and the pool area was very nice. The resort itself was very nice and met a traveling family’s needs but the service was subpar. When the staff eventually got to us for whatever we needed, they were very nice, but seemed overwhelmed and confused. If I paid non-resort prices I would give this hotel a higher rating but they really need to support their staff and guests better.

- 5/5
Great way to spend time on the beach and relax with the convenience of a very pleasant and capable hotel staff.
- 3/5
We have been coming to Wild Dunes for years and it is one of or favorite places to relax. We decided that since we were only going to be there a couple of nights, this time we would try the hotel. Boardwalk inn is a very average hotel, certainly not a 4 star property although priced that way. 75.00 a day resort fee and then an additional 35.00 for valet parking. They tell you that you can self park but there is only a small lot that rarely has any availability. Rooms are a little dated and bland. Bathrooms have almost no provision for hanging towels or wet bathing suits. Beds very uncomfortable and the pillows are beyond terrible. Balcony was tiny and only had stool style chairs, so no possibility of relaxing. Hotel sits way off the ocean, so no ocean view at all. Pool was absolutely filthy both days we were there, so no swimming. We did walk across the street and use the lap pool one morning which was nice. On a positive note, rooms have a small fridge and a Keurig pod machine. Bottom line Wild Dunes is phenomenal but highly recommended one of the many condo options as opposed to the hotel. Save the money and eat somewhere nice…
- 5/5
Amazing!! Restaurant at the Boardwalk Hotel and the Sweetwater Spa were superb. I will be going back.
- 3/5
The staff was the best part of this visit. Every single person was so friendly and helpful. The room was very clean. My issue is that the facility is dated for the price of room and dining. The adult pool was not clean. Scum around the trim and missing tiles were a turnoff. Again the staff deserve all the praise that would bring me back to stay.
- 5/5
Loved the facilities!
- 5/5
Great location, great hotel, and great staff.

This resort is my absolute favorite place.

Great Stay
- 4/5
Stayed at Boardwalk Onn. Bathroom shower was old and falling apart. It was very expensive and disappointed to have junky shower. Also, $100/day resort fee plus tax and beach chairs were NOT included.
- 5/5
The valet staff were exceptional as the first point of contact at the resort. They were extremely helpful, ensuring guests were comfortable while waiting or being transported. They even offered water to help guests stay cool. Overall, it was a warm and welcoming experience that set a great tone for the visit.
- 5/5
Are stay was excellent and we are planning next trip already.
- 5/5
One of my biggest pet-peeves is a hotel that is not clean and Wild Dunes Resort went above and beyond my standards... and I have high standards! Very clean hotel and I didn't find any weird hairs in the bed sheets; I'm a stickler on that. Loved the bath essentials brand they provided, all the beautiful views of the resort, and the superb service. The only negative I had was you had to pay for valet parking everyday ($35/day). This detail is kept pretty hidden on the site and I didn't realize it was a thing until they sent us an email about it a few days before our visit. They have a small lot you can self park at, but it's usually full.
- 5/5
Stay was nice. Only issue was my room was not made up on the first day until 4pm. By that time, I was in the room and relaxing before dinner and did not want to be disturbed. The housekeeper did give me more towels and water, which was nice.
- 5/5
Beautiful!
- 4/5
When we checked in the room they claimed the room we reserved had broken air so downgraded us to a room with no balcony and offered $100 and stated that because we booked through Expedia that was a bargain. Assured us that the air would be fixed within a day. As much as I do not like to move rooms I use the balcony a lot. Next morning I went to front desk for my balcony room and no one could provide an answer. Finally when I talked to management they said my new room would be available once it was cleaned. When I explained that according to the hotel the prior day they noticed that the air broke after cleaning therefore my room should not have to be cleaned again they stated another room had broken air so they were switching me. It was Easter weekend and clearly they had overbooked and picked an Expedia customer to downgrade (otherwise I’m not sure why they pointed out I booked on Expedia) Eventually after much pushing I received the room with the balcony and was promised the credit would be on my bill when I checked out. Upon checking out no credit and front desk said credit is just “there” you just can’t see it itemized. I reached out to management yet again and issue was resolved. Hotel looks nice, pool and beach are great , only warning is they seem to discriminate against people who use Expedia so if they overbook it’s your room they will be taking.
- 5/5
Very nice resort. We did not get to enjoy all of it due to rain but it has a very nice pool area and a short distance to the ocean. Highly recommended.
- 4/5
We had a nice stay. The bell staff and valet service left a bit to be desired but they’re young kids and doing their best. The room was lovely, clean, and well appointed. We enjoyed the balcony. The resort grounds are what really sells the experience. Many different options to take advantage of!
- 5/5
Friendly staff, super clean, kid friendly and beautiful beach. Plenty of dining options
- 4/5
Fun, family resort. Great pool and gym. Plenty of places to walk. Close to the beach. Pretty place with nice design. My daughters loved the place. On site ice cream. Downside; the hot tub was not hot. The food wasn't that great. The market cafe breakfast is pretty gross especially the bagel sandwiches. Be prepared to pay $9 for a gas station pretzel and the snack bar. Overpriced food that is not worth the money. We chose to eat outside of the resort.
- 5/5
Such a nice location and super clean and well kept property. Hotel was pretty loud at night and could hear people coming up and down the halls after midnight. Very kid friendly but would recommend Boardwalk Inn for adults-only trip.
- 5/5
Beautiful and clean resort with easy access to the beach, pools, and shops. The food was amazing and the service was impeccable. I highly recommend this place for families.
- 3/5
We were booked into an ADA room, which we did not request (I suspect Expedia is mostly to blame for that). The bedsheet was torn when we arrived, and we had to ask to have the room cleaned. The resort itself was very nice, but if we return, will definitely book directly with the hotel, not through Expedia.
- 5/5
Great place for families. Walking to beach was easy. Staff is very accommodating. Love having multiple dining options, bars and shopping all on site.
- 5/5
Very nice accommodations
- 5/5
We had a great time at the hotel. Front deck were great especially Boipelo has a great attitude and wonderful personality with lots of smiles. My wife and I were so impressed by her. Thanks for everything.
- 5/5
One of the best places I’ve stayed. Definitely recommend. Beach is beautiful. There are many pools to choose from, food was good, massage was great. I enjoyed not having to drive anywhere. Staff was extremely nice.
- 3/5
Upon check in to the main property at Sweetgrass, I was told I was staying at the older/original property at the Boardwalk which was a distance with luggage. The property was fine but the service was limited and the dining options closed early. The staff was not very friendly. Overall, a bit disappointing for the high price. Totally enjoyed IOP however.
- 5/5
Phenomenal customer service from the valet to housekeeping. Only issue was how does the bartender on a Saturday evening make last call at 8:45 pm and then shut off the TV with the Elite 8 basketball game on (Duke) right at 9pm and kick everyone out? Craziest thing I’ve seen in a while.
- 5/5
Enjoyed our stay
- 5/5
The property was lovely with great walking trails and dining options. Access to the beach and pools was so easy. I loved the ease of the quick boardwalk access to the beach, Beachside cafe, chair rentals, restrooms, towels, etc. You only need to bring your hat, book & sunblock. So relaxing!
- 4/5
First time visitors and we look forward to returning, we loved the property and all the food choices were really good, thanks Wild Dunes!
- 5/5
Room was near elevator which was noisy especially during morning hours.
- 5/5
Front desk staff was very helpful and caring to make our stay memorable. Our room was always clean and stocked with clean towels. We had a great time and will return again.
- 4/5
Everything was in walking distance, like a separate little town. Close to the beach, and the hotel was nice and clean.
- 5/5
Close to the beach. Priced reasonably. Clean. Good food.
- 5/5
Hayden at the front desk was a life saver . Thank you to you whole staff and amenities. And all the restaurants I love them all . I look forward to seeing you all next time .
- 3/5
It was very misleading when booking this resort as we have stayed at the sweetgrass in multiple times prior and when booking it said sweetgrass in and when we arrived we were staying at the boardwalk inn. The beds were very uncomfortable, horrible pillows. Sweetgrass inn offers many more amenities and we will definitely be staying at the sweetgrass in the future and not the boardwalk
- 5/5
Absolute amazing place! Hidden gem - so great for families of all ages! Loved it! Highly recommend!
- 5/5
Nice to have everything close by. Enjoyed the hot tub, would have loved to have one in the adult pool area
- 4/5
We loved the option to text guest services when there was a quick question. Great perk and well managed with quick response times.
- 5/5
The stay was very nice
- 4/5
Great place to visit. Walking distance to beach, golf and short drive downtown.
- 3/5
Customer service was excellent. Overall environment was excellent. The bed in our room was unacceptable. I do not like complaining, and we tried our best to tough it out. We ended up checking out around 3am and are cutting our trip short now because of how horrible the bed was. Unfortunately, we wont be back to the sweetgrass hotel because of this.
- 5/5
Facility was outstanding. Dining options limited. Definitely need a car
- 3/5

Can’t say enough about Wild Dunes! Always holds a special place in my heart and the customer service is exceptional.
- 5/5
Gorgeous place on the beach!
- 5/5
Came here for a wedding and loved my stay. The property felt like I was in my own private village. I’ll have to come back when it’s warmer!
- 5/5
My wife and I had an amazing time and cannot wait to return.
- 5/5
Awesome community, kind staff, and perfect location.
- 5/5
I would appreciate if there are more restaurant options and also bar which will be open till late in the late.
- 5/5
I didn’t like that they charged you for parking. That should be included in the cost of the room.
- 4/5
We have visited this property multiple times a year for the last 13 years. It’s an amazing property and area. However I always have to spend time away from my vacation to address an error in my charges. And I mean every visit. This visit is no excpetion. I typically get it resolved but it takes time away from my visit and family and is stressful and aggravating to say the least.
- 4/5
I would have said i had an excellent stay but there was some sticker shock when i got the final bill. I paid a premium price to stay at the resort and still incurred additional "resort fees" in addition to the steep $35/day for valet parking. I used this service for a max of 10 minutes if the valet's time per day, which i did not feel warranted the high price per day. And what are those resort fees for? The room is obviously at a resort. Why was this not rolled into the cost of the room if it will be incurred regardless of whether i used the pool or other amenities, which i did not!! Very disappointed that there were hidden fees when there was no need.
- 5/5
Great location and property!
- 5/5
We had a great time on this property. Everything was done very nicely. Would definitely come back again.
- 4/5
Nice and spacious room with a coffee maker and fridge, but no microwave, for some reason. The resort is clean, but very isolated if you don’t have a car and the dining options are all expensive. Best one was Coastal Crust, which has decent pizza and very good meatballs. DO NOT let the front desk call you a cab - the car service they use charges $25 flat fee, even if you are only going a couple miles away. Lyft/Uber are available, but may take up to half an hour to arrive at the resort.
- 5/5
Great spot, we will be back. Food was fantastic
- 5/5
Many options for great food and recreation.
- 4/5
Music station at the beach. Food prices too high, need more affordable options Thanks
- 4/5
Beautiful place. Great staff. Food was good.
- 2/5
It was very moldy. Vents all covered in dust and mold.
- 2/5
Our experience was poor from the moment we drove up. Valet was a disaster. Our room was not ready when we arrived at 9:30pm (?) and then we were told it had a problem and they needed to downgrade us. Service all around the resort was extremely below what I would expect from a top tier Hyatt property, having spent time at their resorts in Hawaii and Aruba. It felt like they were chronically understaffed throughout the weekend. Very disappointing over all. I have no problem paying for a great experience and expect standard food, and expensive drinks, etc at a resort; but poor service is unexcusable.
- 4/5
Loved the beach and pool!
- 5/5
We had a great time, it was clean, beautiful, and relaxing!
- 5/5

- 5/5

- 5/5
Elvi at the Boardwalk Inn was very good! Went above and beyond our expectations.
- 5/5
The resort is amazing and everything is walkable. The pools and restaurants are in great locations and we had so much fun! Highly recommend staying here and we’ll be back!
- 4/5
Stayed 2 nights at Seagrass Inn for a grandchild birthday. Nice young family resort. If you are not looking for lots of children, this is not your hotel. The rooms were fine and clean. Bathroom sink did not drain well and we had a problem with the tv( hotel staff fixed it within the day we reported). As I saw in other reviews, although staff is exceptionally nice the overpriced food and food service was not good. Pizza at Coastal Crust was under cooked and servers inattentive. We ordered in room dining for breakfast and it never came, when I tried to call Hutson’s Market (which handled order) to find out after an hour when we could expect no one answered the phone. Very frustrating and disappointing. Finally after almost 2 hours we went to front desk to report and request a credit back.
- 4/5
The beds were awful, like sleeping on the floor. No dresser or drawers for clothing.
- 5/5
We really enjoyed our weekend stay here. Would definitely come back!
- 5/5
Wonderful property for a family vacation
- 4/5
Crust. There were 10 in our party for breakfast & each breakfast came out about 10-15 apart. Food & coffee was cold. They forgot one person's breakfast. Overcharged us for coffee but credit it after we complained. The menu stated the coffee was $4.00 & server charged us $5.00. Plus we wanted more coffee & the runner said he would try. They did bring more coffee but charged us. No free refills.
- 5/5
Beautiful property with everything within close range. My only recommendation would be to offer rentals on site for surfboards, body boards, paddle boards etc.
- 2/5
Our room in the Boardwalk Inn was very nice. Everything else was subpar. Pools are dirty and overcrowded. Limited choices of restaurants and food is extremely overpriced. Staff is incompetent across the board. We left a day early because the experience was so bad. I was told by 3 hotels workers that we would be refunded for the final night. When the refund never came it took 8 phone calls and hours on hold to be told that I needed to file a dispute with my credit card company. I could not be more disappointed in this entire experience. A complete waste of money. Skip Isle of Palms and head to Sullivans Island.
- 5/5
The staff was fantastic!!!
- 4/5
Great location and well-designed resort property that seems to be kept up very well
- 2/5
We drove so far to have a 4th of July celebration on the beach, they offered fireworks on the beach and lying. There was an area with hotel chairs, they charged $15.00 per chair and it was sold out. And for what? to see the fireworks of another resort, almost 1 mile away!!!! What????? get there so they don't celebrate!!! Besides, your check in is at 4:00 and your departure at 10:00, they give you until 11:00. overrated everything. I would never return. If you go, better look for an Airbnb, I saw that there were many and nice ones.
- 5/5
Wonderful!!!
- 2.5/5
There is no hot tub in the adullt pool area. The kids are eating pizza and fries in the only hot tub in the resort. It is filthy.Couples should not go to this resort. You will be surrounded by familes & kids. You will also be isolated and unable to go out
- 4.5/5
Toilet and toilet paper roll location made the WC seem cramped. Makeup on the hair dryer bag that was not my wife¿s.

This was a bait and switch situation. We booked The Boardwalk Inn but were put in a building - not part of The Boardwalk Inn - that was shabbily decorated much farther from the beach, pool, and restaurant. Despite complaints, staff refused to move us.
