Best Western Plus Jacksonville West

Convenient location for being mid roadtrip. Checked in very very late and staff was at the front desk. Our room was incredible damp. The moisture was high in the air, on the floor and was palpable on the sheets. Very uncomfortable to sleep well. Breakfast was okay but not that great. Wouldn’t stay here again. Wish I had gone to the competitors next door.

Staff was super nice and helpful. Had to change rooms because ac was leaking on the carpet. No big deal but both rooms smelled bad. The room smelled sour. I couldn't tell where it was coming from because the smell was everywhere. I felt like I smelled sour when I left the building. Everything just felt dated and dirty.

The pool. When we first arrived at the hotel I don’t get to throughly check my room because we had just drove from Orlando had 4 under the age of 6 and just needed to sit and unwind. Upon checking the room I noticed it was not cleaned properly. I didn’t get to see the beds before kids started playing so I’m not sure how those looked. Trash was left full in the living room, & bathroom. No towels were restocked they left used soap in the bathroom it was just something I’ve never experienced in my life with booking rooms. Upon this discovery I called front desk n she stated I could get another room. We stepped out to get food to come back and pack up and while we were out I got a call saying since the bed was messed up and our things were already in the room that we would keep that room and they would clean the trash. First off I had a DND sign up so NO ONE SHOULD HAVE ENTERED THAT ROOM! Upon the completion off that call when I got back into the property I was told we could then switch the rooms to a clean one. That was my first and last stay at that hotel. Not to mention 8 months pregnant at the time of this! I can say we enjoyed the pool because that’s where majority of our time was spent!

The beds were comfy We were told after we found fleas our stay would be discounted by one staff member. Then at check out told it would not be because we booked through a third party and I asked to be contacted by the manager and never received a call or email.

Toilet was wobbly, hotel close to train tracks so it kept us up most of the night

I walked down the hall to the laundry room and my bare feet ended up very dirty. The whole place smelled like wet dogs for the first 2 days, then they must have remedied the situation, because it smelled really good after that. We stayed 7 nights. The dryer would not work, so the front desk girl dried my load of laundry for me. She was very nice and accommodating. Overall, we were okay with our stay. We really are not complainers.

The staff was helpful and answered any questions we asked.Rooms were clean ,even the bathroom was supplied with all we needed. Bed was a little to soft for us, needed more pillows for king size.

This place is always clean. It's in a safe place within about 200 yards of a Cracker Barrell that may be the best in the state of Florida!

It was an easy check in

This is an outdated hotel! The rooms are big and comfortable. Definitely has a lot of rust, horrible smell in the hallways, and the walls in the room needs to be cleaned and painted over. Breakfast was limited but great! The breakfast guy was amazing and awesome.

We didn’t eat breakfast during our stay. Our room was clean, The pool was clean, and the grounds were maintained well. Our check in experience was AWESOME Jeilyn was AMAZING!!! Jeilyn handled a mistake that could’ve been problematic with ease and quickness. We didn’t even have to request the WiFi info! We will be staying there again

The front desk person was not anywhere around when we arrived. We were about to call 911 when she finally showed up. Probably not a good idea to have only one person working after dark. The next morning we realized the coffee pot in the room was not working and had some kind of fungi lookinfg stuff spewing out of the water trough. The room was ok but definitely not worth $135 which we had to pay but we had been on the road for 10 hours and were exhausted.

Worst pillows I have slept on in any hotel ever. Beds were loud and uncomfortable. Carpet in the room felt damp and smelled like urine. Breakfast was decent.

Destiny is friendly and make you feel welcome there unlike some other hotel I been to are rude

I like how the young lady Destiny make sure they have the room you like available like mines is the one with the balcony. She make sure you have the best stay there and she made super nice

I didn't stay. I checked in. Once I got in the elevator to go up to my room. The elevator was dirty and smelled bad. When I opened the door to my room, it smelled bad. Carpet was stained. Bathroom smelled bad. I went right back down stairs and checked out. I couldn't stay in a room that smells that bad. I want a full refund. And deserve it.

Clean and safe with friendly staff.

Fire dept finally showed and it continued for 29-30 mins with no danger to anyone. Horrible inconvenience for a nightshift nurse who just worked a double and needed sleep before another shift.

No housekeeping offered , had to ask for clean towels. Sofa bed frame was broken. Breakfast and cleanliness was not as good as other Best Westerns.

Property has a fire alarm that is broken and will wake you up multiple times at night. This problem has been ongoing for a long time - you can see reviews 2 and 4 weeks old that say the same thing. The worst stay of my life. And then we had to fight for a refund.

Hubby and I came for our 25th anniversary trip/weekend from Friday to Sunday, and also going to a concert of one of our favorite artists! So we got there Friday evening and the check-in was so fast! I had already booked the weekend 6 months prior, so all I needed was my ID and we were good to go. We got up to our room and it was very clean, had a big king size bed, a mini-fridge, microwave, TV w/remote and whole lot of channels!, fresh towels, awesome little balcony with a table and 2 chairs to sit on. Overall, it was an amazing trip/weekend, and our stay here was definitely worth it! Would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone looking in the Jacksonville area!

It was just an ok property. The staff friendliness varied. The refrigerator that held the yogurt and things was too hot. Should be 41 degrees or below. Fire alarm went off at 7:30 AM. Why would the alarm folks work on such a thing at that time. Seems stupid. I will not go when better choices are right next door like Holdiay Inn Express.

An OK hotel, a little bit lower quality than average Best Western’s standards I would say.

Place is old and run down. Bed uncomfortable. Tiny lumpy pillows. Stains on bedding. Towels thread bare. Spartan lobby. Saw rats around. Asked for extra pillow and told they didn’t have any. Rooms strong perfumed to cover up smell. Only stay here as last resort.

Our room was not ready at the check in time of 3 pm and wasn't ready until 7:30 pm but it was after a hurricane

We evacuated there during hurricane Milton. It was a good choice. Breakfast was good. My only complaint was the first night there rhe fire alarm kept going off. Happened about 10 times. Finally stopped at 3:45 am. Didn't get any sleep. Asked for a discount for that night, but they would not give it to us.

Beginning around midnight the fire alarm sounded waking us out of a deep sleep. After falling asleep the alarm sounded three more times at different intervals waking us each time. After the last alarm one of my family members was unable to get back to sleep. The hotel was unwilling to work with us even for a partial refund. Very dissatisfied. Morning staff obviously did not spend the night.

Over all it was a great place just had a smell in room ! Like carpets need to be shampooed! But would recommend to someone else

The whole building smelled musty. The staff was wonderful. They were troopers. But the city is not very good. And what they have to work with Is substandard in terms of structure and amenities. The only reason that I would ever stay there again is because the staff were very kind and friendly

This was a very nice property. It was clean. The room was very comfortable and clean. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom is very nice. I would definitely stay in this location again.

The breakfast is absolutely disgusting. Hardly any options and it’s so basic it’s worth skipping. Undercooked sausage and gross eggs. Sink and toilet clogged regularly. Door isn’t on hinges all the way so locking and unlocking is hard. Mini fridge freezes everything that goes into it even on low settings. 2 liter of pop exploded and sounded like a bomb went off.

The breakfast was not up to my standards. They served the same thing every morning and it was not good. The last Best Western Plus I stayed at had an excellent breakfast but this one was just a motel breakfast. I was very disappointed.

The stay never happened. When I arrived at the hotel around 1000pm, I was told my room wouldn't be ready for 2 more hours. The clerk gave me the option to cancel my reservation and I agreed. However, I was still charged for the stay.

Housekeeping did not come, had to ask for it. No soap in shower or sink area. Towels like sandpaper. Had to get TV fixed. Rug filthy. AC sounded like jet taking off. Food at breakfast inedible.

The entire place could use a deep cleaning and much of the carpet needs replacing. It smells of mold in a lot of places and you can see layers of dirt and grime along the baseboards. Our friends who were staying in another room had bugs in their bed. The worst was that the elevator went out and one of the stairwells was "inoperable". Not sure how a stairwell goes out of order. Being on the 4th floor, it was a long walk down with our luggage. And did I mention all the cigarette butts on the floor in the stairwell on the carpet? The worst was another guest who was reliant on a wheelchair. The fire department was called to get her down; safety violation? They ran out of most food for breakfast by 8:30 AM although the signs clearly state the breakfast is served until 9 AM. When forced to make food tor the woman in a wheelchair, the cook threateningly coughed like she was going to mess with the food.

Room was very old. Fan in bathroom was so noisy you could hardly hear of someone had light on in bathroom. Pull out sofa bed had a 2" plastic mattress - luckily it was a child sleeping on it. Breakfast was over and cleaned up by 9:00 am, which is early for a Sunday morning. So no Breakfast when we got there at 9:10. Will not stay again.

I stay here a lot for work , just remodeled and I like it , always enjoy my stay friendly staff, good breaksfast, only thing I would suggest is can we get a soap dish or small shelf in the shower

This should be a $50 a night hotel. This is not a "plus". I've been in in regular best western's that were nicer. Just old and cheap. They try and that's worth something. Bed was very droopy as seen in the picture. A very budget hotel for sure.

The location is nice. Its parking lot is adjacent to another hotel and the landscaping for both is attractive. Inside, though, the lobby is bare and a there's a strong, musty, mildew smell. This odor pervades the hallways and even the 3rd floor, where our room was. The 3rd floor also had plastic sheeting over the hall carpets, and dusty furniture lining the walls. When the elevator first opened it looked like a construction zone, and I thought I must have gotten off on the wrong floor. But I hadn't. Inside the room, the musty odor was not quite as strong, possibly because the smell of old stale tobacco smoke was stronger. The smell gave me and my daughter, both, terrible headaches. Coupled with the dirty smudges on the linens and grimey lamp bases, it was more than enough to make us pick our bags back up, return to the lobby, check out, and find accommodations elsewhere.

The hotel was clean on exterior. Was not able to use the pool due to the weather which was a bummer as the grandkids really wanted to get in. The rooms were clean and spacious. Breakfast was good but need to add more variety. Check in and out was great.

The property is being remodeled and it is noisy and dirty. People working on their vehicles in the lot. Handicapped door on my room, nobody could explain to me how to operate it. I rate this place a low C.

Did not get what I booked. Pool is out of order and Jacuzzis was broken. They should have told me at check-in instead of waiting to see if we noticed.

Stay there when I visit my hometown and family. This stay was was not good because of a mix up on payment. At check out my traveling partner was told the room was not paid, when reality it was through Expedia. The problem was a new employee that was not being supervised, he was very confused. Long story short my friend paid also. When she got here bill she called card company and declined. She got paper work to fill out, so she decided to call hotel in Jax. Lady at front desk was very friendly, checked info. On her end and saw my Expedia payment right away , told my friend they would send credit to he card… Just saying because a new untrained unsupervised employee we had to go through this. Never has happened before. It’s on Best Western not Expedia.

4th room had jacuzzi tub and I would not get in it because the proper cleaning of the jets were concerning… I have traveled 7 hours and have back problems. I usually soak after long drives but not in a jetted jacuzzi tub that I do not trust was cleaned well. Hotel refused to refund because they moved me too many times (none of which was my fault). Would you sleep in a dirty bed? Would you stay in a roach infested room? Would you be satisfied with a queen bed when you paid for a king? And would you feel comfortable in a jacuzzi tub that you are not sure if it was clean after the first 2 rooms? A full refund was requested before the last room. Now they refuse because of the # of times they moved me… meanwhile I have lost hours of rest, a good hot bath, and carried my luggage and work bag all over the dirty hotel.

Dismal lobby, musty odor. Room was decorated in the 1980’s and smelled from Lysol. Bed squeaked.

The clean crisp sheets were very important. The room and halls smell a lil old but once we got air freshener it was ok.

The place was filthy. Sheets were dirty and stained. Furniture was very badly stained and soiled. Animal hair was on the desk chair along with other debris. Staff didn’t care and did not want to be bothered.

Laundry was only on the 3rd floor and no one informed me that the washer and dryer wasnt free and required quarters to be used. The pool was nice.

The staff is well trained, very pleasant but the place is not what I expected.

It was a great stay. Our shower didn't work but they ended up moving us to a better room very promptly. Breakfast was great too. all in all a great place to stay next to Cecil Field.

Stayed in room # 417. Luke warm/cold shower....I noticed rug strands in the carpet. And also the bottom front molding in the refrigerator area was loose. When I open the refrigerator door the bottom front molding came unattached. Thus I had to placed it back on by hand.
