Candlewood Suites Jacksonville - Mayport by IHG

First time trip by myself & arrived late in the evening, a little nervous as I was not familiar with the area. Was pleasantly surprised. Front desk staff was welcoming & thorough in the explanation of how things worked. Room was very clean & inviting. I was thankful for the comfy bed & it was pretty quiet. Happy to be able to cook breakfast in my room. Nice stay…I will use them for future trips.

Room seemed fine when me and my family walked in. We later found 2 cockroaches and killed them but didn't think much of it. When we woke up at 5am to go see the sunrise at Atlantic Beach, which is near by, the room was crawling with cockroaches!!! They were on the wall, in the bath tub, on the table and the nightstands!!! We immediately began shaking out our luggage, packed all of our stuff and left!! Contacted Expedia and began a claim. I'm praying that we don't take any home with us.

several weeks before to verify that I truly needed a handicap room. I assured them that I did. 2 days before they said the room was not available. The staff member (Carol) booked another hotel for a regular room. She is hard to understand and very pushy. She didn’t let me talk.The hotel ‘Marriott tried to accommodate by putting a cafeteria chair in the shower (very dangerous). The Marriott on Mayport is a much nicer hotel. I was under the impression a handicap room was ordered at the Marriott. Why would they do this to a handicap person? All Carol kept saying that the Marriott had 2 beds and a free breakfast. I would have booked a different hotel on my own.

Always a clean room, towels when asked for, friendly staff it’s near Dunkin and the dollar tree right down the road from a bunch of food places and a park driving distance away about 10 min. The kitchen is very nice comes with pots and pans and cups and dishes and a dish washer. I’d recommend I stayed a week never had any problems recommend this stay

The staff is amazing. The rooms were so nice. The place was very clean. I accidentally only booked one night abd they were super helpful with booking another night. There is a 50 dollar deposit but you get it back at the end of the stay. They even transferred the deposit to the second night so i didn't have to charge my card again and wait on both deposits to go back on my card. They said it should be back on my card within 7 to 10 days. They were so great in helping me do that. There was dishwasher microwave along with a set of two dishes abd utensils. Plus pits abd pans with pther things you might need to cook with and a mini stove top. And a full size fridge with a ice maker. The room was really nice. Would definitely recommend and if I need to stay there again.

The drapes didn't close all the way and the light bulb in a lamp wasn't seated properly, so it kept flickering. We reset it and it was fine. The hotel room was... serviceable. Not the nicest Candlewood I've seen (it has some signs of age in the bathroom and the backsplash in the kitchen was cracked). Biggest letdown was that the description indicates hotel guests can partake in the complimentary breakfast across the street at the Holiday Inn Express, but that is no longer true. We didn't bring the lights or the drapes to anyone's attention — but honestly, someone needs to check this stuff when you turn the room.

The bathroom was bigger than most hotels.

The room was clean but we saw 2 bed bugs and at check out we told them and all they said was, I’m so sorry. I knew something was off because it smelled like a chemical had been sprayed. I would never stay here again.

The swimming pool was nice. The rooms were nice and spacious. The stove and fridge were nice. Staff was very nice and helpful.

Nice hotel overall room very clean. Only opportunity is the smell walking down the hall throws you off every time when you get off elevator in which I think it’s just smell of the carpet in the hallway. The room was very clean and no smell and guest services was great.

What place was OK. The room was clean, but smelled like mildew. The kitchenette was convenient but a little difficult to use as it was small and did not offer many options. It was also very noisy throughout the night and the appliances were out of date.

Staff was great. Room was as clean as they come. Pet area needs improvement but nice to be able to bring your pet and poop bags were provided.

We only stayed one night but it would be a great place to stay for a longer period- loved that it has a kitchen with a full sized fridge. Beds were very comfortable and everything was clean. The temperature was easy to control and worked properly. We had the right amount of towels and wash cloths. I had only two negatives- the water pressure was low in the bathroom sink and the tub didn’t drain well. Other than these, everything was excellent. And even those two things I considered very minor.

Nasty smell on hall, like a very dirty carpet. Other guests noisily congregate in hall.

Everything was good except for lack of hot water. Warm at best, perhaps only 100 degrees.

The room had very strong smell of chemicals all across the balcony and the room. When requested for change of room, they did not have one. I had to keep the window open to let fresh air take out the strong chemical smell. Once that was done, it was more comfortable. Ok for quick small stay over.

My sister and I were in Jax for a week and chose Candlewood Suites not only for its price but its proximity to my son’s wedding location, the kitchenette and reviews. The photos of the spacious rooms were spot on. Everything was in excellent condition. The only drawback was the auto fan in the bathroom. No breakfast but free freshly ground coffee and a cupboard to purchase a variety of food items.

When I went to check in the front desk told me they had some people extend their stays and they had no room for me. There was no warning, no email no anything. They did however set me up with a hotel room across the street however its not like they had kitchen or a washer or dryer. So I unfortunately was not able to give a good review for Candlewood

We loved the kitchenette, large rooms great for families. Free laundrette and parking which was an added bonus! Only downside it was very noisy, guests have no consideration for other guests which led to late nights and early mornings.

Not a lot of parking spaces and the room we stayed at smelled strongly of ammonia. The bathroom fan was motion sensor and it was annoying. There was no way to shut the fan off completely even if you press the button to turn it off.

People were great , hotel was perfect , clean , and comfortable ,,,, exactly one mile from where my daughter had her class so it was exactly what we needed ,, but it was not close enough to the beach and was on a main road ,,, I wouldn’t necessarily choose it if my goal was to be near the water

No onsite breakfast or restaurant so you need to leave premise for food. Third floor hallways smell. Room was clean and beds comfortable. Nice little kitchenette if you want to do your own cooking. Slight dog smell in our room but it is pet friendly. Decent place but will probably stay somewhere else next time.

Had to stay here for a couple of weeks for work. The amenities and staff were great! It’s nice being able to cook and do laundry when you’re away from home.

Room very clean, the large refrigerator was a plus. Noise outside at 3 AM was concerning. Large uncontrollable dog in lobby next to the elevator was frightening.

The room was very nice and clean. I didn’t like the fact that there were people smoking weed out by the pool every day. It was also a little concerning that there were one or two vehicles parked there nightly with people sleeping in them. It was nice that we had the pool all to ourselves. There were only two lounge chairs by the pool and worn out sling chairs by the adjacent barbecue grill.

This hotel is not in an area that you could walk around for shopping and restaurants. It is not far from those area but you still have to drive. I liked the kitchenette and the bed and linens were comfortable.

The staff was super friendly and the room was really nice. The only downside was there was a roach on the ceiling as soon as we wntered the room. Front desk said maintenance was gone for the day so i had to stand in a chair to try and kill it myself once it started crawling around. The staff did offer to change us to the Holiday inn accross the street and they did check in multiple times to see if we were comfortable which was very much appreciated. It was a pleasant stay aside from the roach debacle.

I only stayed for one night, but would definitely come back again. Clean, modern suite and nice staff. I checked in at night and the neighborhood looked a little rough as I was driving to the hotel. However, a local told me that it’s actually a decent area and I didn’t have any issues so … all around good choice!

This is the second time we have stayed and it was just as good as the first time. The staff are all friendly and rooms are clean. The only critique I would have is the mattress is a little too firm for me but it was tolerable.

Upon arrival to the hotel, we were greeted by a friendly staff member and supplied the card to room #216. I was a bit concerned when I was advised to “walk across the street to the Holiday Inn to eat breakfast, but the staff explanation seemed appropriate. (Owned by same company) We completed the check in and asked a few questions to which the employee was knowledgeable. Upon entry of room 216, our mentality transferred from relieved anticipation of arrival to repulsed and utterly horrified. The chair in the room appeared as if a “quicky” had taken place and the aftermath was left dripping down the front and a water bottle was used to “spray it off”. This scenario only came into my mind after discovery of a lotion buttocks print on the desk. As if that was not disturbing enough, the smell was pure must and VOMIT! Opening the blinds to assess the parking area, an overpowering stench of vomit plunged into our faces. With minimal lighting I am unaware if the vomit remained from a previous guest but we didn’t stick around to find out. I returned to the desk and handed the clerk our keys and advised management would arrive in the morning and contact me for a refund. (24hrs, still no contact) Thankfully, my husband and I were still wearing our shoes however, we were unaware that our few steps into the room had collected the unforgiving stench of this room that would follow us into our car and along the journey to an alternate location. Will follow up if management fails to do so!

We had a really nice stay. The only critiques would be that the walls are super thin so you can hear everything and I still haven’t received my $50 no smoking deposit back from them.

Clean, nice kitchen stocked with everything you need and a good size refrigerator with ice maker. We enjoyed having the recliner and the peninsula and dear chairs too. Spacious.

We stayed for a week to spend time near our navy son’s family. It was very convenient and close to Mayport Naval base. We rented a car to explore the area and would recommend it. Our suite was clean and spacious. We enjoyed our time there.

Ended up leaving early due to weather. They agreed to adjust my booking which I appreciated.

It is a nice hotel. The only issue is the "queen" bed was a full. My hubby at 5' 11" almost had his feet hanging off.

Its newer so very clean, everything as expected. Friendly quick check in. Close enough to everything. Great having the full kitchen and nice big comphy rooms. There was even a lazy boy chair in our room l

I originally booked at a different Hotel and was very disappointed. I came here, explain what happened, and they put me in a room immediately even before the 3:00 check-in time. The place is clean, welcoming, the staff is amazing, a great location, close to everything, including four beaches. I will be back!

Room service timing is quite long and not amenable to stays of 4 days. Having to take towels to front desk for replacement was inconvenient.

Spent a few days and nights here when on vacation with the family. Would definitively rebook for another family vacation.

The room was great and had everything you need for an extended stay. The A/c had a mind of its own sometimes but was effective. The price for a can of soda is 2.00 so if you're thinking about stocking your fridge, do some shopping before you check in.

Very close to Naval base. Very clean, beds comfortable. Wish they had bath soap and the small lotions. Also thought they had breakfast included. Was told at property that they did not.
