Hyatt Place Atlanta/Duluth/Johns Creek

This Hyatt Place was a little dated but good enough. Ice machines did not work & elevator was pretty slow. Breakfast was good with scrambled eggs; sausage patties. French toast sticks & chunks of potato, coffee, cereals, bagels & toast. It was good for a last minute booking for 2 days.

The hotel had really good sized rooms which I loved. The staff was nice. Breakfast was good for the most part. They only had one working elevator, only one ice machine on the main floor which ran out of ice and when I called to inquire about checking in early the lady put me on hold for 12 minutes and then came back on and told me check in is at 3 pm and if I come early it’s $35. I travel a lot and stay in a ton of hotels and I have never had someone tell me I would have to pay to check in early. If the room is ready what is the problem?? Also, we are AMEX platinum members which gives us perks but that was never asked. Also, when we were checking in, the person before us was a Hyatt member and she made a point to tell him that check in was at 3 and he snapped back with, I called and confirmed a 12 pm check in. They were dealing with issues from another customer which prompted them to call the cops, so I understand her frustration, however, her attitude towards the rest of us was unnecessary. But the main thing was that the rooms were nice and big.

Everything was very nice and clean. I would definitely stay again and the walking path behind was beautiful.

Providing a Water Bottle for evn expedia based travel reservations would have been nice. Thiking about saving 50Cents. Not a good Idea.,

Location Faculty was bad. Only 1 elevator in operation. Very long wait times for the only elevator that worked. Breakfast food options were bad. Seating was poor. No ice available on the floors. Had to get ice at front desk. Construction work going on in rear. Access limited. Very very dissatisfied with entire stay.

This hotel had the nicest staff and everything was so wonderful. We enjoyed our stay AND our breakfast!

With all this said the room was clean, comfortable. Over my 4 day stay it was serviced once.

The staff was very friendly, and the atmosphere was tranquil and much appreciated. There was a small snafu when my room began to leak during a rainstorm but I was moved immediately to another room where I finished out my stay.

Breakfast isn't what we remembered from before. If you like cereal and toast, and possible some fruit. It's ok. I'd skip everything else. Location is very good. Rooms are clean, but maid service is every other day, so save your towels and wash cloths.

We did not receive room service for the whole 4 day stay even though we requested daily cleaning because the wet towels in the room leave a damp smell that aggravates allergies. (sink and towels not in separate bath). The breakfast was extremely minimal with light fare and no refilling when guest ran items low. Outdoor pool had dirt on bottom and a frog struggling to survive. Front desk would try to answer concerns but cleaning staff would only clean rooms if the customer checked out even though property advertising every other day cleaning and upon request. Sunday staff was never even at the front desk and instead sat to the side the whole day gossiping on the phone. Everything seemed bizarrely unprofessional.

The rooms were spacious, clean, well lit and air conditioned and very comfortable. Great views for beautiful early morning sunrise . WiFi connection also very good. I asked to change rooms as the first room was next to the lift so noise from other guests arriving during the night on the first night, was not helpful. Hotel kindly changed rooms next morning- the lady at the reception desk (Clairncy?) was super helpful On check-out date, I inadvertently left my passport in the safe and 2 unopened, family-sized bags of chocolate in the fridge at the hotel. Within 30 mins of leaving the hotel I called back and asked for the passport and items left in the fridge he to be kept for my collection within the hour. I was informed the room had not been cleaned and items would be kept for my collection. Less than an hour later, my friend returned to the hotel to collect the passport and other items. She was told that the chocolates had been tossed. We were shocked because less than an hour prior, we were told the room was yet to be cleaned and we left instructions with the front desk to indicate we were on our way and all items should be kept safe for us. This led to a lot of back and forth and eventually the chocolates were returned to us, no apology etc. This left a bad experience to what was originally a very positive experience. Honesty really is the best policy .

The hotel

Breakfast was awful I’ve stayed at many hotels who served way better breakfast yogurts had expiration dates from 2025… the hotel seems not to have AC or be cheap and not run it everywhere smelt like marijuana. Ice machines didn’t work, AC in bedrooms were slow hard to keep the temperature cool the maids stare and don’t even smile or say hello just make you uncomfortable staring. The beds were rough and very small. Definitely not worth the price tag of Hilton hotels first stay and will be my last.

pool was not open, room was 350sqft instead of originally booked 550sqft suite.

I would not recommend staying here. When I got to the lobby it had a weird smell, and then the elevator would sometimes drop as we were riding in it. Eventually it was shut down for the last day of our stay. Both of the stairwells were blocked off, so you couldn’t go down them if you needed to which I believe is a safety hazard. When I walked into the room, it smelt like food coming from the fridge and the toilet was dirty. I did ask housekeeping to clean the toilet, and they were nice and came promptly. I will say that the room set up was nice and cozy, but I would not stay here again.

Breakfast bar was unsanitary. Not all foods were in covered containers. Sausage on a platter , French Toast also in the open. The heating and air system wasn’t working properly. Tried to set thermostat but heat and air took turns blowing . It was right buy the bed. Shower area was to small.

No real bar and shoe left there was not held for us and another staff said they didn’t have it but one staff said it was there.

They never cleaned our room the entire time we were there. We were there for four days and I requested a room to be cleaned, but they always came late in the evening when we are back in the room. But they never cleaned the entire daytime hours we were gone. The breakfast was not as good as other Hyatt places we’ve stayed in the staff was accommodating, but was passive in their help.

The bathrooms are old and the tubs were rusted. I changed rooms 4 times

The most agregious thing was front desk staff need to be trained. We were told breakfast ended at 9:30 am on Friday. I arrived at 9:10 am and hotel was cleaning up breakfast. I am as then told breakfast ended at 9:00 am. I was not offered anything to eat until I told the front desk person I was calling corporate and then offered food but was never given anything to eat. Instead of arguing about food we went to get me something to eat as I am a diabetic. Save your stress level. Stay somewhere else.

The second room was even worse. The door lock did not work, the room had crumbs on the floor and hair in the tub and it was located directly next to a staircase which made the broken lock even more unsafe. When I stepped into the hallway I saw actual feces on the floor. I even notified the hotel staff so they could clean it quickly before another guest walked into it. The fact that it was still there when I checked the lock again showed that this property is not being cleaned or maintained at even the most basic level. The most disappointing part was the response from management. Even after being shown clear photo evidence of the feces, the broken lock and the poor room conditions the general manager refused to approve a refund. I checked out early because I did not feel safe or comfortable staying here. The refusal to provide a refund after everything that occurred shows a complete lack of respect for guest safety, cleanliness, and basic accountability. This hotel is unsanitary, unsafe and completely mismanaged. I strongly recommend choosing another place to stay!!!

The food and hotel were good overall, but the room layout was poorly planned. The bathroom was extremely narrow and tight, barely comfortable even for one person. Although the living area was spacious, the beds were placed in a cramped corner, making it difficult to access one side of each bed.

I am happy to compliment the Front Desk staff, but very disappointed with the room - needs updating from the popcorn ceiling to new bedding (UGH!!) to bathrooms bigger than a closet to pest control to maintenance dressing professional and not showing up at your room in sweats while eating a snack and not even identifying himself as an employee. How this hotel is rated “exceptional” is mind boggling. Truly not at all what is shown. Disappointing .

This is a full service hotel. Easy to find. Easy to park. Easy to check in. There's a pool, workout room, bar and breakfast is included with the room. MANY food choices near by a long with anything else you may want. I would definitely stay there again.

The breakfast was decent. The rooms are really outdated. The shower had someone else hair in it. I had to clean before I used it. Basically needs a major remodeling.

Loved the room except the construction on the 5th floor the noise was insane during the day. And another guest set the fire alarm off not once but twice while burning her daughters hair with a curling iron. The fire alatm was crazy loud and my ears where ringing for hours.We had to ask for towels a couple times. Also there was a worker of the hotel blantly being raisist sitting on the circle flower garden at the entrance of the hotel. From the conversation that i heard was all these white people sucking up all the food stamps. It was crazy to hear something like this as we just arrived at the hotel to hear that conversation.

The hotel was nice,clean and breakfast was good but they got me really upset from the start. I booked with the 'reserve now,pay later' option and on our way there,Hyatts place tried to charge my card,without my authorization. When they could not take the money,they called me,threatening that I could lose my room since they were booked. I was totally confused...like they tried to take money,not even trying to wait until I got there as per the agreement. I really do not think I would want to come back to this hotel...I don't trust them. Also, a lady called Donna ,was so disrespectful over the phone, just going on and on about why I had to pay and she would not even allow me speak as I tried to ask if I could speak...she was so rude! I called customer care and an agent had to tell them to keep my room and agreed that they had no right to charge my card until I got there. So watch out...you may not have a room when you arrive if you choose reserve now pay later. Very disappointing

Sewage problem left a terrible smell outside the hotel. Property is quite old and should definitely be updated. Fire alarm went off at 6:02am!!! Service was otherwise fine and reception staff were sweet. Overall might choose to stay here only if usual Marriott is unavailable again. Just fine for our 11-hr stay.

Very nice room for the price, bed and pillows were excellent, a/c was cool and comfortable.Everything was clean. Pool was nice. It wasn’t fancy but it was perfect for the night.

Hotel staff was very helpful and let me check in early after an overnight flight. Hotel room, lobby and hallways were very clean. The room was spacious with an area for sitting. Bed was very comfortable and bathrooms were clean and in good condition. I would stay here again.

This is not hotel standards. This had to previously be a motel. Linen was very low quality and everything is extremely outdated. Both elevators need to be out of service until they are repaired. The hallway’s are 90 degrees plus no air circulation, but individual air conditioning at the end of the hallway. Bathroom was so bad, room stuffy. My first Hyat place stay and I am not a fan of this brand. The staff was very friendly but the property is very neglected and is in need of a major renovation. Extended stay América was a better option than Hyat and that’s very disappointing. I couldn’t stay at extended stay América because I smelled weed in the foyer. I have chronic asthma.

I enjoyed the room until a roach crawled on my arm. I was there for three nights on the second day is when the incident occurred with the roach. I had to shake out all of my clothes. The room and the hotel look clean from the naked eye

The staff was very friendly during my stay there was nice. The staff that is working the front desk this morning, 5/23/25, is rude and unprofessional. They need to train this young lady better so she can conduct herself in more professional manner.

The staff was excellent and the free breakfast was good. The beds were clean and comfortable plus they granted me a late stay for the next day since we got in so late. You can tell that it is an older hotel that really needs updating. The room smelled a little stale and didn’t feel clean. That’s probably because it needs to be updated. The area that the hotel is located in is perfect, the staff is great, now they just need the rooms to feel wiped down, clean and sanitized. Some paint touch up, steam clean the couches, replace the carpet, lighting, a few more things here or there and I would give it 5 stars.

We were a group of 5 with kids. Manager and staff were attentive and accommodating. We were able to check in a little early from our overnight flight from LA. Staff always smiling and engaging, we liked the experience.

We paid fully online but then when checking in they made us pay a $50 deposit and were told we would get it back 1-3 business days after checking out and we still have not received it. The sink leaked and we had to get someone to come fix the air conditioner.
