Reviews
The hotel is generally well-liked for its cleanliness, vintage charm, and professional staff. Guests appreciate the convenient and safe location, close to attractions and restaurants. However, there are consistent complaints about hidden fees, particularly for parking and Wi-Fi, and some guests have had negative experiences with certain staff members.

That said, for the price paid, and for being a Hilton hotel in the heart of a major city's Downtown, I would have expected a few things to be better. Here are a few of the issues I encountered. - No microwaves in the rooms (one in the lobby) - Old (not smart) TV, laggy and with few channels - Breakfast is not included; room service not available - HVAC Fan is quite loud - No water in room; no water refiller anywhere except in the Fitness Room - My bathroom didn't have hand soap until I requested it - $30/night mandatory destination fee charged; benefits are $10 off from the snacks/drinks/bar areas (where water bottles are $8, mind you!), free premium wifi (but regular wifi still works), $15 laundry credit (but there's a $7 service fee and the cheapest item are underpants for $8 and sundays are 25% extra), or 3 free hours per day on the city's bikes (this would be nice - but it doesn't work! there's no way to redeem this). - Also, no pool like some reviews mentioned - they got rid of it when they renovated over the pandemic. Overall, just fine. It did the job, and felt clean and modern, but wasn't a top-notch experience to return to.

I had a great stay at this hotel! The staff was friendly, the room was clean and comfortable, and everything made for a really pleasant experience. I’d definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a nice place to stay.

A lot of hidden fees never back again

Over great staff

Staff acted as if they simply didn’t care or didn’t have time to be bothered with simple questions. Property is nice but the staff’s attitude would stop me from ever going again.

Concerning area of town—lots of homeless in this rea of town. The morning we checked out, we went down to valet our car and heard a woman screaming bloody murder outside the hotel. We gave a concerned look to the guy at the front desk, and he said, “Oh, I saw a girl get robbed earlier this morning, so you may want to stay inside while we get your car.” The thing that was most concerning to me was that this seemed like an everyday occurrence. There was no alarm or urgency to call 911. Also, I wasn’t thrilled to learn upon arrival that the only option for parking at the hotel is to valet for close to $60 a night. Wish this info had been on the hotel’s listing. Grateful we only stayed one night. Won’t be returning.

Location That there was no water to shower and we were not notified I had to call to find out what was going on, we weren’t able to shower before leaving.

Heater stopped working around. 12 midnight on our 2nd night. Maintenance wasn’t available until 7:30am. But we had to checkout at 8:30 No sincere apology. Sincere apology for heater in room not working. Final bill was more than Booking said.

My room was very small from what I anticipated. It felt like a box. Pillows and bed were comfortable however I would definitely try another hotel near by next time.
- 5/5
Downtown LA is not safe but this property was very well looked after . Only gripe is they only had one elevator working at the time.
- 5/5
Great location
- 5/5
It’s downtown LA. Sirens going through the night and lots of homeless people.
- 4/5
Friendly staff, smooth check in and out process
- 1/5
This was one of the worst experiences. The staff was rude and extremely stressed. Not happy about thebñ way they made my partner and I feel upon check in.
- 5/5
Yes
- 1/5
Staff acted as though we were inconveniencing them. Tv didn’t work, only one elevator worked, and the bar was closed. When we asked for extra pillows we had to wait over 30 minutes and when I called to ask again they were very snippy. Overall the worst Hilton experience I’ve ever had, I will not be returning to this location and we left a day early to get out of there.
- 4/5
The surrounding area was not the best place but it is downtown LA.
- 5/5
Great stay
- 2/5
We booked a room with Two beds. The hotel put us in a room with One bed and then said that Expedia booked us in a One bed room, which was not on my Expedia booking. They could not move us to what I had booked b/c they were sold out. This is not the way reservations should work! The hotel should not have different information that what I booked. Other than that it's a very nice hotel.
- 4/5
Definitely recommend it. The beds and pillows are comfortable, definitely had a good night rest.
- 5/5
Great environment
- 2/5
I think i will not repeat this hotel
- 2/5
Staff at check in wasn’t courteous, treated cut and dry
- 5/5
Such friendly service. Room was nice, quiet and clean. Good location.
- 5/5
Beautiful building and staff. The staff were so friendly. It’s not very children friendly as there is no pool available or area near that is safe for kids and the restaurant didn’t have much for kids. The valet staff was also very friendly. Overall it was a great stay. We only stayed for one night.
- 4/5
The place is really clean, the beds are soft and comfortable, the free breakfast is fresh and has good variety. We felt safe staying here, and the staff is always helpful when you have questions. We wish the laundry service rates are more affordable, though.
- 5/5
The front desk service was amazing.
- 3/5
The fees added for incidentals was outrageous. The maintenance service was nonexistent. I had to ask for clean towels and my bed was never made.
- 3/5
I booked a room with 2 queen beds. At check in the staff asked if i needed 2 beds still, i said yes. She then gives me a room with 2 double beds instead. I called to complain and she said they overbooked and dont have occupancy and would check with manager then call me back. Waited an hour and still no call back. So i went downstairs and talked to manager directly to finally get room we booked. This area doesnt have much things around it and valet was slow when we dropped off in the evening.
- 5/5
Liked that it was nice and clean
- 3/5
The room was very very warm and never cooled down at all. Made it very hard to sleep.

They need to update their bathrooms. Getting in and out of the shower was very difficult.
- 5/5
Property was nice but had many homeless people outside. Staff was very nice and attentive. We will start again.
- 5/5
Really clean and friendly staff.
- 4/5
Parking WAY TOO EXPENSIVE... Not enough help in the restaurant. I loss mone because EXPEDIA did not say the breakfast was buffet... EXTREMELY DISENCHANTED. No water was offered at check in....They put me at end of hall with bad knee. I asked for extra washcloths, they didn't respond or reply... I won't be back. Going to Hotel Figueroa or Sheraton
- 5/5
Loved being able to have drinks on the roof!

Room was fine. Only problem was that the bed was very uncomfortable.

The staff was friendly, the property itself was nice, definitely loved the rooftop access. the neighborhood is horrendous not safe especially for children, the fees are terrible ate up my deposit!

Watch your fees. We got charged for a 30 dollar destination fee that we were not aware of. Also the internet is extra so we didn’t access while there, and then upon leaving was told that if we had choosen to pay we wouldn’t have been charged. Nice to learn that upon leaving. The lady that check me and my friend out helped as much as she could but these are hotel policies, not hers. Also parking at hotel is valet only at $54 dollars a day. You can go in and out as wanted. There is also a park next door but you can not come and go. You have to pay each time you leave. Be aware that if you are doing conference that goes past your checkout time, you still have to move your car or be charged. They worked with me on that but that was after internet situation. Also the hotel had changed my friend for a breakfast she didn’t eat. Review your bill upon leaving. The room and hotel itself are nice and I had no complaints about that. It was just the nickel and diming when room was already pricey.

- 5/5
I was on a staycation, so i decided to book a room at the Hilton Checkers Hotel & my whole experience was a delight. I will admitt that I was having trouble getting to my floor on the elevator. I took some initiative and asked at the front desk if the elevator was broken. I found out my room card key was a fob that not only unlocked my room door, but also was an elevator fob, which when tapped in the elevator took me to my floor.
- 5/5
Great hotel; great location. I didnt stay long but stay was great. WONDERFUL shower and rooms.
- 5/5
Clean room, good facilities and staff.
- 3/5
Room too tight
- 3/5
Roof top patio was nice on the warmer days. No real restaurant - ordering from limited menu in lobby only.
- 5/5
The view was breathtaking, couldn’t have been better, the only complaint if I hace to say is that there was not drinking water in the room, which for the price is the least you expect, if you put coffee maker and coffee and cream, at least one bottle of water per guest.
- 4/5
Nice property, will definitely stay there again

I’d stay again

The staff were welcoming and readily available to help with any question. We used ride share a lot and never had an issue with pickup and drop off. Hotel is walking distance from restaurants and convenience/grocery stores. Overall great stay!
- 5/5
Always our go to hotel when we go to Dodger games
- 3/5
No breakfast was provided, coffee was not ready available. Staff was great though, very friendly. This was def more business friendly then family friendly
- 5/5
I love the great costumer service and how calm it was there.
- 2/5
Restaurant closed to early, valet required coming down to hand deliver ticket and not honor phone request, broken elevator and a house full of cruise passengers; not our idea of a fun visit.
- 5/5
Great old property!

Great room for a laker game overnight stay, great customer service. It was close from everything we did that night will deff stay again

Over all are very nice and clean hotel with courteous and professional staff.
- 4/5
Just the time of check out for a Diamond member and the fact that they charge a resort fee but they are not a Resort
- 5/5
Great location. Staff was wonderful.
- 5/5
This hotel was across an event I was attending. Location was excellent. Parking was so expensive, especially because I was staying at their location. $56. Overall room and service was great.
- 4/5
In downtown LA and convenient with proximity to dining and shopping. No parking and charging for valet parking plus other taxes ..
- 5/5
The rooms are spacious the staff is amazing and considerate. Have a list of things to do because downtown is just bland. You’ve got to travel to do something.
- 5/5
After we check in, my wife & I go to the bar in the lobby for a drink or two to relax. Right across from our event, the Labyrinth of Jareth, easy to get to & a very comfortable room!
- 3/5
Staff was very friendly. The bar was lackluster and closed way too early (7pm)
- 3/5
I booked a deluxe room but got an everege room with no view on first floor and also with no bathroom door in it, not worth for price I paid
- 5/5
I like the professionalism and friendliness of the staff and valet/bellman. No dislikes other than keep up the good work.
- 4/5
Rooms are nice, but a bit outdated for 4-star hotel
- 1/5
No help from bell hop. Valet was a joke. They were so rude. There was no grace period given when once our cars were pulled up for us to load and leave. Their customer service tone can use a little work and their professionalism. The rooms were nice would've been better if the respect was there as well
- 2/5
Hotel and location itself was nice. Customer service lacked- rude tone, rolled eyes, yelled to move from valet even though they saw we had a lot of luggage to load after getting our car from Valet.
- 4/5
The hotel was in great condition and clean. The valet and bar staff were outstanding. The front desk was rude and pretentious. The downstairs bar closed too early, forcing everyone to the roof bar, that is poorly stocked. The room was perfect except for the 40 grit towels.
- 1/5
Hard mattress, dirty room (hair in the bath tub), outdated furnitures, and staff take about 30min to check in.
- 5/5
I liked the location, staff was nice and room was nice. Allowed me to do an early check in
- 3/5
In room dining ends at 9:30 PM which is really inconvenient, especially if you go to a concert or the theater or sporting event
- 4/5
A bit pricey but quite nice. Didn't love the 100/night deposit, but I did appreciate the security at the door.
- 5/5
Great Hotel, very clean and friendly staff, I loved the restaurant, great breakfast!
- 3/5
Hotel was clean, staff was very friendly. I didn't like the $400 holding fee and the $25 a day fee added to that. Hotel had no swimming pool as well. But overall, my stay was good.
- 3/5
I arrived at 11 pm and left the place at 5 am i told them but they force me to pay for wifi ,tourism assessmeny ,city marketing assessment, ocupance tax, destination fee $129 in total i dont know about all those fees but wifi i told them i just one sleep 4 hrs i dont want use wifi but no choise pay it or get out
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
Everything is conveniently close. The subway is very close and it makes it easy to explore the whole city.
- 2/5
The booking rate on hotels.com is only a portion of what they will nickel and dime you once you get to the property. Bare minimum service. Do yourself a favor and pick a different Hilton.
- 4/5
Place was great, Staff was top notch. Only complaint is the breakfast buffet for $25 a person was below expectations.
- 2/5
Basic utilities such as the fridge didn’t work. Though no fault of its own, it’s situated in a dirty, unsanitary part of LA. Cleaning staff did a great job. Front office workers rude and belittling. When we went to question a charge found on our card, Julianna immediately ignored our point, simply saying that in whatever other country we were from(we live in the U.S) there currency doesn’t match and that’s what’s causing our issues. Completely disrespectful and belittling.
- 5/5
Being in downtown LA you expect some issues within the community. But the immediate area around the hotel is clean. Teens riding scooters, Disney plaza within walking distance, and valet parking at the hotel.
- 1/5
Turns out all they had to do was cancel when I was on the phone, but the gentleman did not even tell me that policy, and the next day said it was something that had to be done yesterday, when I had called. Long a story short, careful with this hotel, and site, after 2 full days of being on hold in the app & on phone, I just gave up and decided to eat the money, thanks! Would have gladly taken credit for a future trip… learning lesson for sure, but there’s plenty of other booking sites and I’ll take my loyal-paying self and wallet there!!!
- 5/5
Hilton Checkers will be my to go stay in LA from now on, loved the boutique hotel and staff is great. Rooms are new, huge and very clean.
- 1/5
The rate I paid said it included taxes and fees. I was charged an additional $25 surcharge fee.
- 5/5
Would it be possible to remove single-use plastic from the bar area (and breakfast service). I notice that you have almost none, but every bit helps. Thank you for considering this. Thank you for very professional customer service.
- 4/5
Everything was amazing. The only complaint would be the dim lights in bathroom.
- 5/5
We stayed this hotel for live concert within the area Nd very convenient and safe location to walk. I highly recommend!
- 5/5
Awesome!
- 5/5
Liked the vintage charm. Excellent service
- 3/5
Unique property
- 5/5
Stayed here twice now and it is one of our favorite hotels to go to. It’s very quiet. Love the bar downstairs.
- 5/5
Very clean place. Staff is overall pretty good. Front desk is great. Great food
- 5/5
Great!
