The rooms and the facility was clean. The staff was super helpful and professional. I appreciated the safeguards in place, like keyed entry, and keyed elevator access, as this hotel is in downtown. We did not use the pool or fitness center on this stay.

This hotel overall is just as you would expect a Holiday Inn Express to be. The problem is 100% its location. It is right by MacArthur Park. This is a very sketchy area. When we pulled up to the hotel, there were numerous homeless individuals camped out on the sidewalk directly in front. People selling random goods, appearing to be completely out of it on drugs and arguing with each other. We were nervous to park our car there or sleep there. Sirens all night, loud yelling from the "campers" etc. Hotel just fine but not a peaceful sleep.

This hotel is located in an EXTREMELY unsafe area. Security guards on every corner, people bent over from Fentanyl, homeless everywhere. I had to call 911 for a man bleeding heavily on the sidewalk. I saw this all during the day.

Main bathrooms downstairs opens with a key card. But if someone is in there, it still opens with your key card! Someone opened while I was in there. They should rethink that setup

The Hotel was clean however, we had a leaky shower, and the sink was gurgling, the food was super salty. We were woken up at 4 am by a couple arguing, a girl crying and slamming doors ! Then at 545 am by a barking dog on the apartment patio! We were 3 floors up. It doesn’t help the the hotel is next to an apartment building!

Located in what could be considered a slightly sketchy area, this gem of a hotel really blew me away. Super convenient to what I was doing and where I was going as well as having amazing rooms and wonderful breakfast. The staff was amazingly helpful. And parking was free!

The room was very clean but I made a mistake when I booked it I thought it was a larger hot tub. It was just a spa with six jets. I arrived a little early and tried to check in the room was not ready at 2pm which is understandable. The desk clerk said that she would call me and let men know if the room became available earlier. I asked if it was possible to get the key ahead of time she said no. When we arrived at 315. The room was good to go but the next shift clerk explained everything about the property again even though i repeatedly told her that the previous clerk had already done so. We were in a hurry and didn’t want to be rude which made it awkward while she was going thru her spiel. If you suffer from acid reflux make sure you bring your meds. The sundry shop did have pepto available but at 8 dollars for six tablets it was kind of expensive and not as effective as other meds. When we made it to the room the housekeeper almost walked in on us naked while getting ready for an event. She did apologize and said that she thought the room had not been cleaned yet on her list. It was very awkward too because behind the door I was 100% in my b day suit. Not the best stay I’ve had at Holiday inn express.

The rooms were clean, I think that's an >important priority. The property is in a safe place and the parking lot is spacious to fit a large vehicle, such as the one we drove in (fits 13 passengers). The accesz is controlled at night for extra security and the lobby has a coffee machine. The lobby gal Patricia was friendly, professional and highly thorough with her explanation on how to get around the hotel.

The hotel staff at the front desk were very friendly and accommodating. The room is basic but looks newly renovated and clean. The lobby area was always clean and relatively quiet. The hotel is in a really sketchy neighborhood so beware. I stayed here for a conference and caught a short Lyft to the convention center daily. I would not walk outside the hotel. I walked two blocks to a store once and it was a scary experience.

This hotel property is right smack dab in the middle of a massive homeless camp. The neighborhood is extremely sketchy, extremely filthy and smells of urine. The ground is littered with needles human waste and everything in between. NOT PET FRIENDLY, unless it’s a service animal and the “pool” is this size of your apt bathtub. We only picked this spot since it was close walking distance to the venue we had tickets to, completely unaware of the reality of the neighborhood. Lesson learned, do better research on where you’re staying. I will say that Patricia at the front desk was very kind and did her best to accommodate us, thank you! However I will never return.

Overall the inside of the hotel was ok, however I will not stay here again with my kids. It’s the worst area to stay, specially if you’re traveling with kids. So many homeless and drug people right out side the hotel. The parking lot does not feel safe at all.

Had to change room due to a moldy smell. The front staff was very attentive to the issue and it was solved immediately…. When you arrive on the third floor you can actually smell stuffy smell. The cleaners was there cleaning and scrubbing what I Would guess was a spill or something. One was actually sitting on the floor. The forth floor as you get off the elevator you can smell the change instantly not too stuffy and the room was clean… The air also

Love the lotion. The staff at front desk and breakfast were all very friendly and helpful. The food at breakfast are great, the restaurant area are spotless, they kept the buffet complete and clean. The neighbourhood were not that good to walk around. Overall it was a nice stay.

The only drawback was the surrounding area. While walking to a nearby store with my children, I did not feel very safe. However, inside the hotel itself, we felt completely safe and comfortable.

Overpriced for the holiday season and located at a very disturbing location with homeless people around the property. You may even encounter few in the hotel lobby parking areas etc. be care full when drive of the property as they walk up as a surprise as you have less visibility when you drive out. Very unsafe to step out and walk out with kids and family as you may see hundreds of homeless who are high on substance and may also be approached asking for money cigarettes etc…..

Staff are very helpful. Room and the bathroom super clean, no unwanted odors, quiet room. Bed super clean and comfortable, 4 good pillows. AC unit. Overall, a pleasant place to stay. Don’t mind the street mess because once you are inside the promises, you won’t even notice it. Plenty of parking spaces at any time.

The property itself was good. The staff were very friendly and helpful, no complaints there! The rooms were clean and comfortable and in relatively new and updated. Free parking was a huge plus and guard overnight which I appreciated because of the surrounding area was not the best. This stay was a nice little gem hidden in not the best area of LA, was in town for a concert at the BMO stadium which was easy to uber/lyft to from this location. Would stay again if needed just be aware the surrounding streets are not the best, but felt safe staying here.

There was a car alarm/property alarm that was constantly going on and off throughout the entire stay. This was disruptive and heard even with the fan set to constantly run to try to drown out the noise. This was heard on and off from the start of the stay on Friday evening continuing until check out on Monday morning. This was very disruptive for working and sleeping.

Hotel was pretty good/average. It's in a bad area of L.A. but we needed to be near the BMO Stadium. The cleanliness was okay.

For the AC-the problem is when we tried turning it on, the room will smells pee...thought it's coming from the carpet or in the bathroom...then I figured it out, it's coming from the window which we saw a lot of homeless in the alley near the parking garage....

The AC kept the room cool, the beds were pretty comfortable, and the room was spacious. I did notice that our bathroom light flickered maybe 2 times and I think it could just be the light switch or something.

This Hotel was completely different from picture in the ad. It is in a area not suitable for families. Very unsafe. Sirens and loud noises all night long. Otherwise clean, staff polite and courteous. But would never come back.

The bed was another standout. Extremely comfortable with quality linens and plush pillows. I slept like a rock, which says a lot because I'm usually a light sleeper. Overall, this hotel exceeded my expectations in terms of comfort, cleanliness, and amenities. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing and well-kept place to stay!

The property itself is nice. The surrounding area is unsafe. I checked out super early because I had to go to work so I left the key in the room and call in like I usually do in any other hotel and a hotel person that answer the phone had an attitude because I left the key in the room and didn’t come check out. It was 4 o’clock in the morning!! They need to work on there customer service!!!

The hotel was fine, but the area is pretty much in Skid Row. There are people walking around shooting heroin in broad daylight. Me and my friend we’re petrified walking to get food

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel! Check-in was quick and easy, and the staff were exceptionally friendly. A special shoutout to Mia (I believe that’s her name) — she had short hair with a splash of green, and her warm smile truly lit up the room. The hotel itself was very clean, and the maid service was attentive and always willing to help with anything we needed. Breakfast was delicious and a great way to start the day. Overall, a very pleasant experience. Highly recommend!

That said, it is very inner city. If you're driving its great, the parking is free and the property is great. But do not plan on walking to the Metro or the park unless you're comfortable in a very rough environment. The area is not for families or tourists.

This hotel was not located in a safe area. It was located in the slums of the city. The beds were not comfortable and the pillows were way too soft and too thin. We asked the staff for shower towels, and over an hour later, we received our towels. The bathroom was dirty and had beard hair in the sink. The breakfast was not appealing at all. We were truly disappointed in our stay.

Rooms were very nice, private parking with security. Shout out the Colombian guy for being really cool and welcoming. One negative is that by the pool area it smells like urine. Other than that no bad things.

The area around the hotel was very dangerous. There was garbage and drugs everywhere. People in alley ways doing drug deals. Not a safe area. I only felt safe inside the hotel.

The bed was very comfortable and I liked the option to choose between a soft or more firm pillow. The spaciousness of the room and ADA details throughout the room and bathroom were especially helpful with my son who is disabled and utilizes a wheelchair. The bench in the room was a great feature as well. The front desk staff and those that worked in the breakfast area were really nice and helpful!

this was an amazing stay the staff was amazing while checking in but the only think that threw me off was the homeless out in the front but luckily it does have it’s own parking garage so it does make me safer as well as a parking attendant later at night! they breakfast is very yummy and the room was amazing. i will definitely want to to stay here again.

The area around the hotel felt extremely unsafe. Even the staff warned us not to walk outside at night. McCather Park is unsafe. The city needs to take action.

This is our second time staying here and both experiences were excellent. The staff is very friendly and organized. The area outside the hotel is rough but we felt safe. We went in an Uber to BMO from the hotel and the pickup is right there. This is our favorite hotel in this area. Breakfast us good too. I definitely recommend this hotel.

Front desk receptionist was chefs kiss, the location of the property is not well BUT the breakfast buffet, cleanliness and staff make up for it.

The room was very spacious with comfort beds and suited our needs perfectly, though missing 2 towels (4/6) we got a prompt response. The food was good as expected from the brand. The only hiccups was the surrounding neighborhood which was not children friendly by any means. Good as a prompt pit stop.

We had a nice stay. The staff were wonderful, so friendly and helpful. The room was okay - we had dirt in the sink, hair in the shower and wet spots on the carpet. The beds are very firm. Breakfast ran from 6:30-9:30 but food was out by 8am both mornings unless we wanted dry cereal. The area around this hotel is not safe, however we felt safe inside the hotel. We had no issues with food delivery and a uber rides.

My stay at Holiday Inn is always great! A couple things that were amazing were the staff at the front desk and the stay in our room. One thing that I was a little disappointed with was the diminishing quality of the breakfast in the lobby. Our first morning we had such a great breakfast but the other two seemed to use leftovers that were hardly edible.

I didn’t like that I couldn’t get a new blanket when mine had a weird stain they said they didn’t have anymore at the desk. Then when they changed my linen they used the same blanket the whole stay

I know it’s not fault of the hotel and they can’t do anything about this but for your visitants is a bad experience.

Liked almost everything about the hotel - pleasant staff, good warm breakfast options, opens 6:30 although the website showed 6 am- they accommodated us and opened 6:15 to grab food so we could make it on time for our son’s 7:15 am volleyball tournament check-in at the LA Convention Center. We really appreciated that! The only downside is the area outdoors did not feel safe with the many transients walking around the street. I’d recommend just driving your own vehicle in/out of the lot or Lyft/Uber/Taxi will also pick you up at the front door so you don’t have to walk out to the street. That said the hotel parking lot was still safe and also free-no cost which is unheard of in downtown LA!

Staff was really friendly and the hotel is very clean, but i wouldn't walk outside the property. They did have a security gaurd to watch the parking lot, but i would not have stayed there if i knew what the surroundings were like.

And, unfortunately, the area surrounding the hotel was very dirty and unsafe. There were so many unhoused people living on the sidewalks right outside of the hotel. First, the good: the staff at this hotel were fantastic. Everyone I interacted with was warm, friendly, and helpful. The hotel itself was clean and generally adequate for a short stay. The room was comfortable, though we did notice the bathroom sink had a drainage issue—it would occasionally fill with water and make a loud sucking noise as it went down. However, the biggest and most concerning issue was the activity happening in the alley directly outside our window. At nearly all hours of the day and night, there were large groups of people (sometimes 20 or more) gathering in the alley. We witnessed drug use, physical fights, vandalism (including spray-painting walls), and people discarding trash and even needles in the alley. The noise and chaos made it extremely difficult to sleep, even with the windows closed. I've stayed in Los Angeles many times and am no stranger to the city, but this experience was by far the worst. It was honestly shocking to see how deteriorated the area has become, particularly right behind the hotel. While the hotel itself tried its best, the surrounding environment made the stay extremely uncomfortable and, at times, unsafe-feeling. I hope the hotel and city can find solutions to improve the safety and quality of the area. Until then, I’d recommend potential guests be aware.

No reciprocity with other Holiday Inn Express Hotels. I was mistakenly booked here instead of the W LA one. The good news is - only charged 1 night instead of 3 ($---). Bad news I was exhausted & with my 91 year old mother. We found a better hotel.

We had stayed 2 days. When we stayed the first day, we could smell aroma and few urine(not sure)in the room. At that time, we were not care about it. However, we were pretty sure it was urine smell on the second day. We were felt bad.

Didn¿t realize what a terribly scary part of town my son lives on! There are homeless people everywhere! Even stating fires to keep themselves warm right outside the parking garage.

 

The hotel was great. The location is in a bad part of town.

The shower head is not strong enough, maybe replace it. The hot water took forever to turn on in the shower, not enough towels but staff was nice enough to give me more. Need more ice machines, the one on my floor didn¿t work

Sadly the pool was closed and it was a really hot day it would have been nice to cool off.

Notify the customer when there is construction going in the morning,when they're staying on the south side of hotel.
