Beautiful, clean room in a very historic building, wonderful breakfast, and the building was in a very safe walkable neighborhood.
- 5/5
Great place to stay. Wish we would have had more time to enjoy the grounds. Next time!
- 2/5
The only thing “charming “ about this inn were the people. It was one of the dirtiest hotels I’ve ever stayed at. There was mold on the shower head. I wiped some off with a wet washcloth. If some came off for me, can you imagine what a cleaning solution could do. There was nothing that wasn’t stained, dusty, broken. The keys are huge so they recommend you leave them when you go out. It felt like a dorm picking it up at 10pm. It’s a shame they let it get to this condition.
- 5/5
Awesome old mansion. Only complaint was the bathroom could have been better maintained and updated. Overall great place to stay and would highly recommend.
- 5/5

- 5/5
Charming place and staff.
- 5/5
Friendly staff and well run facility; especially enjoyed the stories and generosity of spirit of the evening’s caretaker who also happened to be a sports writer! A stroll through the neighborhood was such an unexpected delight!
- 4/5
The building is just magnificent with a really historical vibe. Beautiful in every way really. The staff was very friendly and helpful. However there were a couple of things......our room had no facility for making tea or coffee or hot water. Didn't think to check on booking as I assumed this was kind of standard. Also the glasses in our bathroom were not clean. The breakfast was very strange. I ordered orange juice and tea but you can only choose one of those. My croissant (miniature) came on a plate with a paper doily and was warm, which was nice, but the butter had also been microwaved which meant it was liquid. The same applied to my daughters cooked breakfast. So if we ever went again, I would eat out.
- 5/5
I know most bed-and-breakfast do not have refrigerators in the rooms but it sure would be nice to have that. Overall it was a great stay!
- 5/5

Nice bar and appetizers
- 5/5
We stayed only one night but I wish it was for longer. The clerk who greeted us at 8 pm. Walked me to the back cottage and upstairs to our room, she showed me how the lock was tricky. She had a suggestion for a late dinner, one that we could walk to; it was a relief not to have to drive. Breakfast was delicious. We enjoyed our stay and hope to return sometime.
- 5/5

Beautiful old house/Inn. Loads of character. Staff were all very friendly. Pillows were hard as a rock. Could use a healthy option for breakfast, yogurt and granola or something else lite. Over all, a nice place to spend the night while coming up to see the cherry blossoms.
- 5/5
Charming historical bed and breakfast hotel in the charming, historical city of Macon. Service was outstanding. Delicious breakfast made to order. Gorgeous setting.
- 5/5
Wonderful place with the best staff. The breakfasts were the best we have had in any bed and breakfast. Such a classic hotel and so well maintained. The grounds are beautiful also. If you are anywhere close, you need to stay here!
- 4/5

- 5/5
We can’t say enough about this place! Highly recommend! The staff was amazing and the Inn was spectacular! We spent Christmas Eve night here and checked out all of the lights in downtown Macon. We went to St Joseph Catholic Church for midnight mass and listened to a choir of angels sing! Such a magical stay. 10 out of 10!
- 5/5
Very friendly and efficient staff. Clean. Beautifully decorated for Christmas.

- 5/5
Check in was smooth and efficient. Exceeded expectations . No line, warm southern welcome.
- 5/5
Excellent breakfast- although it is an old building I felt the outside of the building could of used some upkeep. Staff is very helpful and friendly. The history of building is interesting. Very close to downtown
- 5/5
Breakfast was great! Room was wonderful. Staff was friendly. Could not ask for a better stay!
- 5/5
This was our third visit this year. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming. Sarah, Lance, and Lakisha are awesome.
- 5/5
Beautiful house with fine and comfortable furnishings.. Elegant.
- 5/5
The staff went above expectations! The breakfast was very good. Our room very comfy. The outside landscaping needs some attention though.
- 4/5
had a pleasant stay, and Charles helped to arrange/suggest place for golf.
- 5/5
Scones were fabulous!
- 5/5
The staff were incredibly service oriented and everything was done with a smile . The front desk , the kitchen and wait staff, and housekeeping were the best . Cheers to all of you hard working people!
- 4/5
We very much enjoyed our stay. The 1842 Inn is beautiful. The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious! The gentleman that served us was nice and very informative about the Inn. I wish the girl that greeted us when we came in had been more informative and friendly. Generally at a bed and breakfast they give you more information when you check in. We couldn’t find her to ask about the evening happy hour or evening fresh cookies. So that was a bit disappointing. Overall the Inn itself was great.
- 5/5
This is a wonderful property with an absolutely wonderful staff. Thank you 1842 for such a great visit!!
- 5/5
Everything was great. We will stay at the 1842 Inn any time we stay in Macon.
- 5/5
This is a wonderful inn. The property is historic and beautiful. The room was gorgeous. The bed was comfortable. The amenities were outstanding. The staff was incredibly helpful and pleasant. The breakfast was good though I will say it was not as large a quantity of food as I would have expected. And the area around the property is historic and beautiful as well. It is walkable to get to downtown Macon, which was helpful. I would definitely strongly recommend this day. And BTW, the collection of photos of celebrities that have stayed at the same property was mind blowing. Everyone from Oprah to Barbara Eden.
- 5/5
Lovely hotel highly recommended
- 5/5
The 1842 Inn is a beautiful antebellum home located on a street in Macon GA lined with other grand homes. Staff was friendly and helpful. Property is well maintained. Breakfast was delicious as well as the appetizers served at social hour allowing time to mingle with other guests. I definitely will go back to stay again.
- 5/5
The 1842 Inn is beautiful property & the staff is very friendly. There was a pub within walking distance for dinner and breakfast was delish. The room faced the back courtyard and was clean & well decorated. The queen bed was comfortable. We will stay again if in Macon!
- 5/5
The breakfast was delicious! You choose your food and drink, the time and location where you want to eat.The table is set with linens and the breakfast was freshly prepared. The property is beautiful and the staff couldn’t be nicer! We will definitely be back!
- 5/5
Really was everything we’d hoped it’d be and then some. From the second we stepped inside we were transported to another place and time. We were received by Sarah, who was filling in for someone else, and she set the tone for the entire stay. Hope she finds herself at that check-in desk more, she was fun and gracious and welcoming and informed. We were both beaming after meeting her. The rooms were stunning and clean and so comfortable. We’ve been all over the country on this trip, and that was the best bed we’ve landed in to date. Our breakfast chef/server was also exceptionally kind and gregarious. When in Macon, we’ll never stay anywhere else.
- 3/5
We were under the impression that we were going to have a room in the main house, but instead we were kept in the back house behind the property which was very loud outside and had spotlights all around us at night because it was a very shady area, not safe. The whole place smell old and musty, including our room, which gave me a headache our feet stuck to the wooden floors, our bathroom door wouldn’t even shut halfway so we had to use the bathroom and shower with the door wide open at all times. The pillows were so flat like pancakes. The staff was extremely friendly and the breakfast was good. Overall, unfortunately, we would not stay there again.
- 5/5
Amazing property.
- 5/5
What a beautiful intriguing Inn the history behind the Inn and the area is fascinating. Definitely will be back again.
- 3/5
Breakfast was served cold.
- 5/5
Great service
- 5/5
No bellhop to assist with luggage makes it difficult to get in and out. Only steps to rooms no elevators
- 5/5
We had a wonderful stay. The hotel is historic, the staff is very friendly and attentive. Breakfast is included and you can request it in room.
- 5/5
Amazing BnB, very quiet and clean!
- 5/5
Beautiful inn with great southern hospitality. Very reasonable price. Breakfast was good but not to the level of a typical Bed and Breakfast.
- 5/5
Had drinks in the late afternoon with h'oeuvres for a fee...but very enjoyable.
- 5/5
Lovely stay, staff is wonderful. Delicious French Toast for breakfast.
- 5/5
Very nice place to relax and unwind.
- 5/5
My daughter and I enjoyed our stay at the 1842 Inn. We were greeted with a smile and wonderful support throughout our stay. Breakfast in the parlor was lovely. I will stay again when in town!
- 4/5
The hospitality of the staff was first rate. We were given a brief tour and invited to happy hour for drinks and appetizers. Breakfast was ordered. You can have it from a range of times and either in your room, the parlor or court yard. We headed out for an evening event and the hostess invited us to borrow an umbrella. The bathrooms were dated. The spigots in tub were hard to turn on and off. The towels were a little rough. There were nice robes for relaxing.
- 5/5
Beautiful old house!
- 5/5
Interesting restaurant within walking distance. Others by very short drive.
- 5/5
This is an antebellum house built in 1842 with large magnolia trees in the front yard and a huge wrap around veranda. You can sit on the front porch in the rocking chairs and think about how things were 170 years ago! The staff was very accommodating and it was a great visit.
- 5/5
The staff attended to everything we needed. Very friendly and accommodating. We will definitely stay again.
- 4/5
The historical charm and care of rooms very good and the complimentary breakfast delicious The faucets in the bathroom were hard to turn on and off.
- 5/5
Cool property with lovely outdoor/indoor spaces for reading or enjoying coffee. A real breakfast is included, along with afternoon snacks during cocktail hour in the parlor. Walking distance to the cemeteries on the river and other historic sites. Great pillows.
- 5/5
Nice weekend gateway from Atlanta, would certainly visit again.
- 5/5
I wish I could have stayed longer. I'll definitely stay again if I'm ever that way.
- 5/5
this was our second stay, wonderful well maintained historical property, the most welcoming and accommodating staff. breakfast is delicious.
- 5/5
Loved it
- 5/5
Wonderful people and very nice place - highly recommended to Macon visitors looking for historic perspectives...(and a very nice place to stay).
- 5/5
This was our fifth stay. It is a beautiful building and the staff are wonderful.
- 4/5
It was nice. I was there only a few hours a i was at a conference.
- 4/5
A stay in a beautiful traditional Georgian property with a delicious breakfast.
- 5/5
Old southern mansion. Not like a typical hotel building, but quite nice in any case. Very good breakfast! In a pretty neighborhood, about a twenty minute walk to downtown.
- 5/5
It’s very friendly and we chatted with other guests. There were single travellers staying and I can see that this would be a great place to do this as well as for couples or groups. Breakfast was delicious too. I would thoroughly recommend this inn for a trip to Macon. You can walk downtown easily to the local restaurants and bars. It was easy and cheap to get Ubers too.
- 5/5
I was in Macon looking for a home to buy. The staff was terrific. They were super helpful and friendly. The afternoon drinks on the porch were exactly what I needed. Thanks so much Sarah!!! Breakfast was also great. The room was very nice, clean and comfortable. Great location. Nothing bad to say!!!
- 5/5
Friendly staff, good breakfast, quiet room, needs a good bit of maintenance on the outside. Reasonable value for the price.
- 5/5
Lovely place. One must give some leniency as the hotel is almost 200 years old. Staff amazing . The complimentary cocktails and nice breakfast a bonus! Thank you for a lovely stay.
- 5/5
Met several nice folks on the porch then Uber-ed to dinner. Breakfast was really good cheesy grits and crisp bacon while my mate enjoyed the sausage casserole with fruit. Loved the Royal Cup coffee they served. We only stayed one night but it was a nice stay.
- 4/5
Nice place to stay for a change from a hotel.
- 5/5
A lot of history in this house.
- 4/5
The food was fantastic and so was the champagne. The bed was comfortable. The shower was transformative.
- 4/5
The service was great. The George Walton room we stayed in is next to the kitchen and lobby, so a little noisy. But, overall, it was a great experience and the staff was friendly.
- 5/5
The inn was full of southern charm and architectual character.
- 5/5
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Staff is the greatest
- 5/5
Our stay was very relaxing and the architecture and decor was amazing!
- 4.5/5
Very nice Inn. Comfortable and clean with very friendly staff. A small fridge in the room would have been handy.

The history behind this property and its proximity to surrounding attractions.
- 5/5
Wonderful room and top notch personal service!
- 5/5
We were captivated at check in when we were greeted by Miss JoAnne Dillard at the front desk. A delightful treasure that added to the beauty of the front parlor! We had a comfortable, pleasant, relaxing stay as the staff was very accommodating, and made us feel quite at home.
- 4/5
Amazing historical mansion located in the historic district
- 5/5
Loved our stay at such a classic property!
- 5/5
very historical!
- 5/5
Our weekend in Macon was delightful thanks to the 1842 Inn. Very clean and quiet. We were in the cottage behind the main house and loved it! From check in to check out everything was great. The staff is outstanding and made us feel so relaxed and special. Don’t miss the Mint Juleps at cocktail time!
- 5/5
A charming establishment with warm southern hospitality.
- 2/5
I also paid 18 dollars for a glass of cheap wine. This is not the Inn experience I am used to.
- 5/5
Absolutely beautiful special hotel. Besides being an amazing piece of history it is also a very beautiful property in a beautiful area. Perfectly clean, stylish large room, we got spoiled by Sarah as we sat on the glorious porch in rocking chairs and had refreshments. Breakfast was delicious and all the staff were so warm and friendly. Well done. It was the absolute highlight of our trip to the USA.
- 5/5
From the beautiful grounds to the amazing architecture and furnishings you just get this incredible sense of relaxation and comfort. We will be back!!!!! Thank you Katie, Felicia and Rachel.
- 4/5
Good location beautiful historic building and grounds.
- 5/5
This was only a one night stay and the historical hotel was very interesting and fun to stay at. I liked the fact we could have our breakfast in our room or in the main building. Which was very tasty. The staff very kind.
- 5/5
Cher stays here.
- 5/5
This stay was an unexpected highlight of our trip. The house is wonderfully decorated with beautiful antiques. There were many comfortable rooms to sit in outside of our bedroom. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The complimentary breakfast was truly gourmet. They set up a small table for me and my wife in front of a fireplace in a private room. The food and service were outstanding, and it was fun to meet the chef, who gave us the recipes. They even had a free charger for my electric car. And it was fun to see photos of people like Oprah Winfrey who had stayed there. I wish I could give six stars!
- 5/5
Wonderful building and even better service. Katie could not have been more welcoming, and Gloria and Lekicia were so helpful. Southern love on fare. Kerping up with the antebellum vibe throughout. Will definitely return.
- 5/5
We love this Hotel. My wife and I spent iur wedding night there ladt year. And wanted to come back for Valentines Day. Everyone there us so friendly and helpful. We'll go vack again and again
- 5/5
We had a great stay !
- 5/5
This is a magnificent century old estate, impeccably maintained. A wonderful atmosphere. A lovely quiet neighbourhood.
- 5/5
The inn is lovely, as was our room. However, the highlight was the staff - so friendly and accommodating .
- 3/5
If it was out in the country, it a little more quieter. It would’ve been great. Just your typical city noise at night time. The highlight of the entire stay was the quiche at breakfast the next morning that was Home made by Lakecia and she even gave me the recipe. It was worth the trip.
- 5/5
Wonderful place to stay, the staff are fantastic. They make you feel right at home.
- 5/5
1842 Inn exceeded my expectations. Its absolutely beautiful with just an amazing ambiance. Felicia and Latisha were so nice and so helpful. Felicia even helped carry our bags upstairs. It was unreasonably cold so the fireplace was going and relaxing music was playing. It was very welcoming and cozy. We stayed in the John Gresham room. The bed was very comfortable. We would love to stay again if we get to the area and would love to stay longer so we can explore more of the area and research the history of the home and the area.
- 5/5
The staff were warm, welcoming and knowledgeable about the Inn and surrounding areas, breakfast was delicious. The staff were accommodating and helpful. The Inn itself is beautiful, historic and well kept. We will be back!!! Thank you for a great stay!
- 5/5
This beautifully preserved antebellum mansion exudes charm and history. The rooms are exquisitely decorated with period antiques, and the common areas are inviting and comfortable. The courtyard garden is a tranquil oasis, perfect for relaxing with a book or enjoying a glass of wine. The inn is conveniently located in the heart of Macon's historic district, within walking distance of many attractions, including the Grand Opera House and the Tubman Museum. Our stay at the 1842 Inn was an absolute delight. The combination of history, hospitality, and elegance made for a truly unforgettable experience. I highly recommend this inn to anyone visiting Macon.
- 5/5
Friendly, efficient and knowledgeable sts

older homes. Great place to stay with character rather than simply a Holiday Inn -type with gym/pool etc. AN EXPERIENCE YOU WILL CHERISH!!!
- 5/5
Nice property, friendly staff, rooms very clean, delicious breakfast. It was a great trip to Macon!
- 5/5
Delightfully charming and a great experience. My only disappointment was learning the room I selected wasn't part of the main house. It was freezing out, so I had to put on my coat to cross the courtyard for breakfast. Room service is an option, though!
- 5/5
The charm

We booked 2 night the past weekend after first night we had to check out, our bedsheets were very dirty looked like someone peed in bed smelling/dirty bed covers toilet dirty and tub filthy we were very disappointed of the stay there on the stair case looked like it needs vacuuming and dusting.. :(

The Inn is a lovely historic building and while the bathroom was somewhat dated everything was clean and comfortable. The reception lady was very kind and helpful. I didn't like the fact that a wine reception was promoted but you had to pay for the wine. Why have free and frankly over the top hors d'ouvres and charge people for a mediocre class of wine. It just seemed somewhat incongruous and mean.

- 3/5
Breakfast was amazing with great choices but no in-room coffee so had to wait til tray delivered. Staff badgered us to pick up tray before we were done. Had to request everything - ice, towels which had no where to store as no shelves or space for toiletries; closet too small with no hangers- seems to have a plantation mentality with having servants provide everything. Not sure if aimed toward excessive tipping.
