Garner Hotel Macon West by IHG

We were there for only a stop-over. The room was clean and the staff were friendly.

My wife and I travel with a small dog (5 lb. Yorkshire Terrier and Poodle mix). We have been staying at this property for the past three summers as we travel to Florida to visit in-laws. We like staying at this hotel because it is pet friendly and has what we consider a reasonable pet fee. Staff is friendly and accommodating. The hotel has become a regular stop on our yearly travel.

Breakfast was good. Everything was clean. The staff were friendly. Sheets felt sandy, or pilled. Adjoining room had a dog that barked quite a bit in the early morning. It wasn't as quiet as the first time I went.

Good location The room had a terrible smell. It smelled like a wet dog in the room. Not sure if it was the carpet from having pets in the room, or the air conditioner needing to be serviced. The shower head was hanging loose, it needs to be attached in some way.

The breakfast was very good! The bed smelled very clean and fresh, and was super comfortable. The air conditioner and the bathroom fan were very loud. No frills, but overall a very good pick for us traveling through.

Our hotel room smelled very bad with an oder like dog urine. We should have Changed rooms but arrived so late and didn’t want the extra hassle, but we do want to warn others. On the good side, The front desk staff was nice and maybe other rooms are fine.

Interstate 475 is very close so you can definitely hear the traffic all night. Coffee is available in the lobby 24 hr a day but not in rooms.

The location was easily accessible... hmm,If there was anything I didn't like( which I'm sure there isn't) The front desk staff- specifically Miss Neo removed all doubt from anything negative! Bathroom dirty( which it wasn't) Miss Neo's professionalism erased any memory of that! Pricing absurd?( which it definitely was NOT!) Miss Neo's pleasant demeanor would have made up for that! Miss Neo is a welcome addition to Garner's beautiful hotel! We will definitely be returning when we're in the Macon area( definitely will be staying here when Macon gets it's much talked about CASINO! lol)

At check in-staff very courteous:but informed that Emotional support dogs are not ADA and they charge for them -even if registered thru MD! Have never been charged for my EMS dog, maybe this is new trend! However -she did not charge me. I have 2 dogs-other large dog just old -so I was very grateful! However, I will probably not stay again! The room very clean, bed & pillows comfortable. The shower did not drain well! All 3 light posts out at the end of building -so very dark -tho the staff check in did tell me that! Just prefer the usual one place we stay as they charge less per dog and the place is nicer all around!

Great mattress and assorted (soft/firm) pillows! So nice!! Full sized shampoo, conditioner, body wash (Dove brand) in bathroom. Breakfast was the usual. The only thing stopping me from giving this place a 5th star is that there is no in-room coffee! Someone has to go down to the breakfast area to get it ... Sadly, won't be staying here again. That's just not the way to start off our day!

There are lots of food options around, and there is a movie theater next door, along with a grocery store, so it's a good area for gas, snacks, food, and/or supplies if needed.

The breakfast on the second day I was there looked like it was the same food from the day before warmed back up. It was surprisingly very noisy. I could hear every step the people two rooms down were taking and the plumbing thumped really loudly when you turned on the shower or flushed. The paint was crumbling in the bathroom,I was just not thrilled with the building conditions. The pool was also closed for some kind of maintenance when I went but looked like it had been shut down for some time. The staff was super nice though.

Near highway, the noise level was high! Very clean and courteous receptionist. Would love to have had conditioner in the conditioner bottle other than that a very nice day.

Outside noise was extremely loud until all hours of the night. Sleeping was next to impossible due to the noise of nearby traffic. Soundproofing definitely needed. The lighting in sink area was very dim. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean though.

Breakfast was just OK, but not bad. You can tell this is an older hotel as the elevator door is smaller than most nowadays, and the doors in the room are also tighter. You can also tell that’s been remodeled. But has been remodeled perfectly to resemble a newer facility. The room looks just like a newer, typical hotel bed was amazingly comfortable. Everything in the room is modern and updated. Hotel is slightly off the beaten path, however, close to everything in Macon. Highly recommend this hotel!!

The rooms are quite large and ours was very clean. There is a fridge and microwave in the room, but no ice bucket or coffee maker. We were not told that until we got to our room and saw a sign on the fridge. It was odd, for sure, and it would have been nice if the desk clerk would have told us ahead of time so we didn't have to go all the way back downstairs to the front to get a bucket and ice. Overall nice place for a fair price.

We're only in town for a one night stay but the property me or expectations. It was very clean and updated. The room was nice. A/C was COLD. Appliances all work. Check in was fast and easy. The fd associate was friendly and welcoming. I would highly recommend.

Check-in and Check-out was perfect. Location was good, free breakfast was great, everything was nice and clean. The bed was hard as a rock, pillows were very soft but unfortunately go flat when you settle in on them, definitely need more than 2 pillows person. I would stay here again.

The hotel was our first time at a Garner property. The hotel was attractive and tastefully furnished and equipped. The only negative was the front desk person. She was the worst person imaginable for “welcoming” guests to your facility. She was unhelpful, short, disrespectful, and just plain snarky and unwelcoming. She ruined what should have been a wonderful experience at a new hotel, at least for us, initial and (probably) stay at a Garner-named hotel.

Room was seemingly pretty clean, although all the bedding was damp, and smelled of cigarettes we still passed out for 4 hrs and continued our drive back to Ohio, front desk person was not friendly or in any mood to do her job and asked if I let anyone know we were checking in late at night I let her know I did call and talk to someone and make sure it was okay and that it was a 24 hr help desk to which she then rolled her eyes gave a dirty look and then didn’t say anything the rest of the check in. Honestly whatever it was cheap no bugs and we slept and left

Checked in and receive a filthy, stayed in room that didn’t get housekeeping service. Received a different room. No shampoo or body wash. Refrigerator for yogurt and butters wasn’t cold at breakfast. No choices for breakfast. It was the bare minimum.

Perfect spot for stopping while on the road. Clean and convenient. Breakfast was ok, not terrible but not good just your basics -Nahuel, English muffin, bacon bits, sausage, scrambled eggs, yogurt (only flavored options), milk, coffee, OJ. Basic place if you’re after a nights sleep and some rest while driving up 75.

It was a clean hotel with a friendly desk clerk. Breakfast wasn't that good but the coffee was tasty. No coffee in room was unusual but no problem. We’d stay again.

Check in was easy, room and facility was clean. Nice area. Breakfast choices were very limited and there wasnt any serving spoons or tongs to get the food. People were using plastic silverware to get it and wasnt sure if it was clean or used silverware so we didn't eat any of it.

On April 14, I booked and paid for hotel reservations through Expedia for the stay from April 14 to April 16. However, on April 16, the hotel charged me again directly. I contacted them, and they issued a refund. Unfortunately, on April 17, the hotel charged my credit card again. When I followed up, I was advised to call back on April 18 between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM to speak with someone authorized to resolve the issue.

Fairly nice hotel but pool was closed when we were there. Friendly staff. Nice location with some shopping and restaurants. The reason for the poor ranking was because I found a cockroach on the bathroom counter before going to bed. Tried to squish it with a towel but it survived and dropped to the floor landing on my foot, which scared the bejesus out of me. I eventually killed it with the garbage pail. Didnt sleep well after that. Kept thinking about the Auntie cockroach from Men in Black. I know we were south but don't expect that in my hotel stay. Pillows also need much to be desired.

I appreciated the updated efficiency of the hotel amenities, i.e. dispensers in the bethroom, lobby coffee machines, bedside lalmps with outlets, labeled pillowcases, efficient use of room space. I would choose the line of hotels every time.

An older property with a recent facelift, and very well done. However, I was shocked and displeased that there are no coffee makers in the rooms.

The property and staff were great however there was an issue with the payment thru Expedia. I almost didn't get the room after traveling 14 hours . I was so frustrated after traveling the whole day and making the reservation in advance. The staff apologized and said it happens frequently.

Just not happy that I gave my credit card to front desk, then they won’t give me paper receipt when checking out because I booked through Expedia. Expedia gave me a receipt with zero balance but no record of what I was charged on my credit card.

Staff really nice, breakfast good, but super let down that the pool had been "broken" for a year...put it on the website. I have 2 kids stuck in the car for 16 hours they needed a pool. It was a requirement for our family.

The bed was very comfortable and the shower was good! Staff was accommodating for our group of 4 couples when we wanted a place to play cards. They let us use the breakfast area in the evening. Both when we checked in and checked out were waited on by very pleasant staff. Kudos!

The comfort was great it but we were put in a room that was located by the stairs, you could definitely hear people constantly going up and down them. Then, the employee that checked us in was very nice and had explained that there would be an additional 30.00 per night pet fee, this was fine with me. I paid the additional amount but in the morning at checkout there was a different employee at the desk. She wasn't as friendly. She ask how many pets i had whereas the night shift person didn't. I told her 3 small dogs, she said "you know I need to charge you additional fees", I wouldn't have minded paying additional pet fees but the contract that I had signed the night before stated a flat 30 dollars! My pets are very well trained and house trained! This hotel says that they are pet friendly but really they frown on it!
