OK, so I stayed in room 106. The key card could not open the door then Up entering the room. It smells like septic tank. That’s how bad it was all the residents complain about the same smell also receptionist at front desk. They are never there don’t think I would be staying there anymore. I recommended it to anyone. The smell from the sewer needs to be fixed. Also, the customer service needs to be taken care of a little bit better because when you need a receptionist, you can never find one.

The decor is charming and in keeping with the Art Deco atmosphere of South Beach. It is an easy walk to the beach and it is located in the heart of a vibrant area with lots of restaurant choices of all levels. The mode is casual but the professionalism of the staff is consistent. We were given a family style room upgrade from the standard room we had reserved and we were offered a free late check-out with two extra hours without even asking. Free coffee in the morning and a free drink at happy hour were welcome amenities. We did not try the restaurant on the premises but it looked inviting. We took the train to Miami and took an Uber to the hotel and other destinations. There is no parking for the hotel and traffic is bad, so I don't advise driving. I recommend this hotel for a good visit to South Beach.

I requested an early check-in after traveling, and instead of receiving assistance, I was repeatedly placed on hold while staff continued helping other patrons. It became very clear that my concerns were not being prioritized. As a Black traveler, I could not help but notice that white patrons appeared to receive more attention, patience, and accommodations than Black and Brown guests. That perception made an already frustrating experience even more uncomfortable. To make matters worse, I accidentally left behind a blanket that is deeply important to me emotionally. I suffer from PTSD related to my military service and recently returned from Kuwait. That blanket provides comfort and emotional support, yet the staff showed little empathy or urgency regarding the matter. Hospitality should include professionalism, fairness, and compassion toward all guests regardless of race or background. Sadly, that was not my experience here. I would not recommend this hotel based on the lack of customer care and sensitivity shown during my stay.

Looked nicer in the photos online, older building, smelled of mildew maybe recently had a water leak. Also was not a 35$ dollar deposit like explained when booking the room, it was a 134$ hold that they placed on the card they don't tell you about until check in. Great area, did enjoy the stay. Just not what was expected.

Great location, with dining easily available on-site. Fantastic range of stores in South Beach Island. Hottest showers we have experienced in USA. Rooms are small. No sound proofing, and hallway sounds from chatter and door knocking are audible all evening/night. The hotel has a hostel type vibe. No tea/coffee facilities in rooms. No car parking, but managed a luggage drop of from a free space just outside the hotel.

Great location but I have to say that is all. It was a last minute booking for F1 race weekend so there was not much available. Rated as a 3 star but it is more like a 1.5 star. Lacked cleanliness from the lobby to the room. Room was horrible. Dirty, run down. Comforter on both beds had stains. Looked like they don’t clean them but simply put a clean top sheet on the comforter. The stains looked like blood stains. The beds are old and uncomfortable. The floor was filthy and cracked. Bathroom door did not fully close. Stayed 3 nights only had the room serviced 1 night. The worst hotel experience I have had in my 25 years of travel

The only disappointment thing was the door lock didn’t work. But we understand is difficult know when the batteries are going to die and we arrived late, so of course they didn’t have maintenance person.

Room was clean and nice, hotel location was amazing!! Bar and food option right inside the hotel was great. I was only frustrated because people were outside of the hotel in the alleyway right next to my window yelling super loudly till 5am so i didn’t sleep much, and then the hotel charged me $50 for a “stained towel”. I spilled Gatorade and wiped it up with a towel. Isn’t that what towels are for? lol did not appreciate that silly charge at all.

An.ok.2 star hotel or maybe one..no phone in the room but a big tv... Dated, bed frame was oversize for the mattress, good hot water but it took a long time to get to my shower on 2nd floor. In general, the hotel needs maintenance..elevator button not working and more such. Good location for South Beach partiers but otherwise noisy.

The staff was not controlling the guests/people in the hotel. People were running up & down the halls. People were banging on doors for 30 minutes at midnight. Then, at about 530/6 am, people who weren't even staying at the hotel were in the lobby fighting. They woke us up plus 102. The cops were called. They still stayed on the patio and continued to fight. Then at 8am, someone was banging on their door for 30 minutes & was yelling.

If you have a car, you need to park a block south of the hotel and walk back. Not a big deal. Parking is $40 overnight. There is NO ocean view. I don't know why this is even in this hotel's list of amenities. The beach is 400 yards east past an entire block of buildings, a busy street, a green park, and 100 yards of sand. I took FIVE elevator trips to the front desk to try to get the room key to swipe. The bar/restaurant was not particularly friendly or engaging. I won't stay there again.

Shortly after I checked in, a staff person walked right in my room without notice or knocking. And before I checked out, a male staff person walked right in my room without knocking or notice. I am a single female traveler, Thankfully both times I was clothed. But warning to bolt your door! The room was clean however, the metal strip at the bathroom door had screws sticking up out of the floor. I was thankful for the room on ground level because we were not informed that the elevator was not working and no repairman came during our stay. We chose the Hotel for the bar and food amenities but the bar kept short hours and we were not able to order breakfast and had to go elsewhere. The front desk staff were kind and but Isabella was extra professional and personable. I would not ever stay there again for the reasons above.

When we arrived, we had to wait almost 45 minutes to get checked in due to the hotel being short staffed. After checking in, we were told the elevator was out of service and we would have to lug our luggage up three flights of stairs to get to our room- no assistance was offered by hotel staff. The hotel room was fine, but the bathroom was really small and the shower was so narrow you almost had to stand sideways to raise your arms up to wash your hair. At checkout, no one was present so we just left the key on the desk only to find out when we returned back to land after our cruise (7 days later) that we were charged $208 for no reason and now we are fighting with the hotel to get that money back. Definitely not staying here again.

I made reservations for the Whitelaw hotel but when I got there the lady at the desk told me that whoever I booked with gave me an upgrade and I was placed into the hotel next door (Posh). The room was very dark with two tiny windows. There was a large gap in the front door big enough for rodents to climb under. There was a Hostel above the hotel rooms. I asked the lady at the desk did she put me in a hostel she said no. I asked why was the Wi-Fi username for Posh, she said it’s for all stays. She was a good liar. The location was great but not what I booked. I will never use a third party for booking a hotel again.

The Whitelaw Hotel was an interesting stay with a few pros but several cons. Pros: The location is ideal, the restaurant was amazing, and the staff were very friendly. The room décor was also very nice. Cons: The hotel key card kept deactivating, which was frustrating. The front desk only had one person working, so depending on the issue, wait times could exceed 10 minutes. The room had multiple cracks, which felt like a safety hazard. There was no hand soap or washcloths provided, and we had to repeatedly go to the front desk to request basic essentials. Additionally, there were not enough outlets, and the ones available were very loose and could not securely hold plugs. The elevator was not functioning during our stay. I had specifically booked a handicap-accessible room, and as a result I experienced extreme difficulty getting to the room via the stairs. Despite informing staff, we were told that because the hotel was fully booked, no accommodations could be made. Booking an accessible room comes with the expectation that essential accessibility features—such as elevator access—are available or that reasonable alternatives are provided. There were no microwaves in the room, you must go to the hotel next door.

The location was great. The bed was comfortable. The water in the shower was hot. Hotel needs a renovation and a deep clean. The ice machine was broken the entire trip. The rooms are so tiny we had to keep our bags under the bed. It’s poorly furnished with cheap metal furniture and one tiny metal chair. Towels came to our room with a big wad of hair in them. There were a few tiny stains on towels. The carpets in the hallways are absolutely filthy. Old fashioned key cards which had to be reprogrammed daily. The elevator quit working two days before we left . When we asked about repairs , they nonchalantly said maybe end of the week but not sure. The front desk attendants were not friendly, not helpful or accommodating whatsoever. They were away from the counter a lot of the time. They seemed apathetic!!! Room floor was damaged, bed sheets dirty, towels had hair. Hallways smelled bad. Service was terrible. Room service came into the room without knocking the door. Receptionist were not polite. Waited over 15 minutes to check out because there was nobody at the counter. Called the hotel and no answer.

The first room we checked into had an Oder and was right beside the front desk which made us feel unsafe. It was a girls weekend trip so safety was a must. When they moved us the room was further down the hall but it just wasn’t a good fit as we didn’t like the lay out and the fact that anyone could walk right in and come to our door.

This was a horrific experience booking thru expedia because the "what you see is what you pay" rule isnt real. I got to the property and they charged me another $122 for resort fees and NOWHERE on the site (expedia and actual website). The manager was rude and I got there at 11pm didnt get in a room til almost 1am... I wasnt offered anything upon the property manager speaking with expedia and realizing I was misinformed and they said the resort fee was for a free happy hour but it wasnt even on sight it was 20min away and for a person with no car it wasnt worth what I paid. Do not stay here unless the room is literally pennies because the only good part about this hotel is its walking distance from beach

Enjoyed the stay at the Whitelaw. $34 resort fee (we used the towels/beach chairs). A boutique hotel with an elevator that works! Vibes in the lobby and 1 min walk to the beach. Bed was actually a king size, not many channels on the TV (we had to login to an app) wifi goes in and out in the 3rd floor. Clean Restroom and spacious walk in shower.

Night staff the young man who checked us in was very nice. Provided great service and welcomed us even though we checked in after 2 AM due to delayed flight check in was easy and quick will definitely stay again.

I personally do not like the lobby area. The seating area and the bar have too much things going on; It made me feel clustered. The hotel has a Mexican themed restaurant with outdoor seating. It's about 7 mins walk to the beach, 3-5 mins walk to Ocean Drive where the restaurants and clubs located. The hotel has snacks in the room for sale. Make sure you take a picture when you first enter and another picture when you leave to check out. I was charged about $3 for what seems to be a snack i never ate. Check out my Food Explora blogs for details about my time in South Beach.

highly disappointed in my stay here!! I feel like I'm in a college dorm room or the ghetto with the loud music playing at 2am and people running up and down the hall. My family couldn’t sleep because of it! Tried to call the hotel but of course no answer as it was after hours. Also, there's no phone in the room to even call front desk. You can hear EVERYTHING outside of your door! It’s literally like living on a college campus. Highly DO NOT RECOMMEND!!! And the staff did NOT try to make any accommodations!

The rooms are in terrible shape, you can hear everything from the hallways to the neighbours room. There is no quiet space…we heard people screaming in the halls at 3am every night… you can hear everything happening outside of the hotel at all hours. Room cleaning only comes every 3 days, floors in the room were falling apart…our safe was broken the day we checked in, was never fixed. We ran out of toilet paper. There is zero counter space in the washroom so there is no area to get ready …. It very much feels like a 2/3 star hotel. Our neighbour blasted their tv all hours of the night and we could not sleep…no telephone in the room to call front desk…. Like I said, only good point is that it’s close to the beach, however, there are MANY other hotels near the water that I’d stay at before this one again.

The boutique hotel was awesome. Check in staff were great and super accommodating. The downstairs had a great retro bar and the rooms were really well done and super clean. Bathroom was really nice and clean as well. Comes with a small fridge too and Tv setup to connect and stream services with. Also we were on the 3rd floor and no noise or anything from outside. It was very noisy but to be expected for the location. Staff checking in and out acted like they were bothered to assist. 2 days after checkout I was charged for use of the minibar - I called and was told that they are serviced by a 3rd party for that and would investigate. I had to call back 2 more times with no resolution. I finally disputed wtih my credit card and was credited back the money. The only good thing about the hotel was the restaurant - the food was excellent and the server was very nice.

However, there was no coffee pot in the room, nor any coffee offered at all, until 9:00 a.m. and it was packaged creamer and not at all good coffee. We appreciated the one positive interaction we had with the staff and were grateful that they stored our luggage when we arrived hours before check-in. However, every other interaction left much to be desired. The staff generally seemed indifferent at best and outright hostile at worst. On three separate occasions, we encountered cleaning or maintenance staff in the hallways, and each time, they rushed toward us aggressively, as if expecting us to move out of their way. It was shocking that this happened not just once, but three times. This hotel would greatly benefit from improved customer service training.
