Guests generally appreciate the cleanliness and convenience of the hotel, as well as the friendly and supportive staff. The location is also frequently praised for being close to services, restaurants, and local attractions. However, some guests have issues with the size of the rooms and bathrooms, comfort of the beds, and noise levels from both inside and outside the hotel.

The location of the property was really convenient for us. Overall, it was okay. We did have to make a run and purchase our own pillows and blankets 😅 the ones provided were not very comfortable. Also, no microwave either in the room.
- 4.5/5
Convenient location and I didn't have to check in with a receptionist. I was given a second floor room and it was hard for my sick husband to navigate. I would like to stay again, on the first floor.

I wanted to try a boutique hotel. The murals outside were beautiful. The creativity of the owners/designers was noted. Coffee was great. Beds were very comfortable, and clean. Their communication was quick and helpful. I would not have wanted to pay more than we did. Behind the plywood headboards was open, full of dust, with visible wires and electrical work. Junction boxes are on thing; I should not see wire nuts. The plywood platform bed was dirty. The turquoise patio chair near our room was broken. The GFCI outlet nearest the coffee maker seemed to be tripped and wouldn’t toggle—but we were able to use a different outlet.

Easy check in clean rooms and the automated messages made it so much more enjoyable in a great part of town. The location of the toilet paper holder.

So thank you Expedia for finding this place... but you should refund the difference for the extra unannounced and unexpected hoops we needed to hop thru... Bottom line: IRIS gets a solid 10; Expedia a shaky 1...

Very convenient location near to highways, downtown, shopping, and restaurants. Easy access and parking. As a woman traveling alone, I was comfortable with the surroundings.
- 3/5
If I were staying longer than one night it would not have been as good. I have to base the review on the price I paid. Had it been more then it would not have been worth it. The bed was very uncomfortable, hardly any water pressure for showers. If you need a cheap place to crash for a day it works, if you are staying longer and need good sleep it is probably worth spending more for a more comfortable sleep.
- 5/5
Just how cute and comfortable and super clean everything was. Especially the bathroom floor and tub ! The bare wood in the room should have been painted or just something. It was too cute for that to be an eye sore.

It was clean and had plenty of space to spread out our stuff. Impressed with simple design and layout. A variety of restaurants within walking distance. From outside it looked a little sketchy but great inside.

Loved the location. There are a number of local restaurants within walking distance of The Iris. After long days at my event, it was great to "come home" and then walk to a fun supper!
- 4/5
Don't mind the no frills at all. Nothing fancy but was very nice, comfortable and clean. Great for a one night stay. Odd that we had to empty our own trash but not a big deal since there wasn't much. I would still recommend.
- 2/5
Group of rough looking people also were hanging out in the parking lot. Not a pleasant experience!
- 5/5
Great price for Nashville, contactless hotel with room keyhole check in, comfy bed, clean bathroom. No frills, but near Belmont University and Fisher Performing Arts Center for concerts and theater events.
- 5/5
Great value, great location, very clean, plenty of free parking Couldn't use coffee provided in Keurig machine
- 5/5
Clean room, comfortable bed and close enough to Vanderbilt Hospital that it didn’t take long to get there the next morning for surgery.

- 4.5/5
Convenient location to downtown Nashville. Well restored motel in a trendy neighborhood close to unique restaurants and shops. Contemporary styled room was clean and comfortable.
- 5/5
The room was very clean, if you need a place to stay while traveling this Motel is perfect. We only needed a room for overnight and this room was great. There are plenty of things to do around the hotel as well, food, ahopping etc.. The only thing i wpuld have liked was an extra chair or simwthing to sit on other than just the bed.

- 5/5
Great thai restaurant next door. Very convenient to Vanderbilt medical bldg. Clean rooms.
- 5/5
The only negative was the very noisy AC/heating unit. Its fan is very loud and blows very hard across the bed next to it.
- 4/5
Close to shopping and food. Water pressure was less than desired,
- 4/5
The room was clean and open feeling. Beds were comfortable. Pillows were lacking support. Water did not get hot in shower.
- 5/5
Conveniently located to everything, safe area, super cute, clean and very informative staff.
- 5/5
Convenient - affordable - clean - safe
- 5/5
We stayed here with our kids on a trip to watch the MLS game at Geodis Park. We were able to walk safely to and from the park, which was our primary goal in booking the hotel. The room was low frills but had everything we needed and made great use of space. The mattresses were a bit overly firm, but overall it was a great experience with a great bang for our buck. I am typically a bit of a hotel snob and wasn’t sure how this would turn out but I have no regrets and would absolutely stay here again. The area was safe and had great proximity to restaurants. Check in was a breeze, I had no issues.
- 5/5
Clean motel. Good for the price.
- 4.5/5
Check in was wonky, as I didn't receive the special check in instructions, they require scans of DL. No big deal, just delayed us getting room assignment, and check in.
- 5/5
Great Experience.
- 5/5
Very clean
- 5/5
Comfortable room, clean. Close to my conference.
- 5/5
The room was great and the best thing was that the beds were of a normal height. Mom was with me, she is over 70 and always has a really hard time getting into and out of beds at hotels because they are so high and was thrilled to see that she could actually go sit on and get in the bed without struggling. Made her smile.
- 5/5
Staff is kind and helpful. Room is clean although basic. Glad it has a refrigerator. We've been using the Iris for years.
- 4/5
Everything was great! Only complaint is the towels stunk like fumes really bad and made anything they touched stink.
- 5/5
Easy contactless check in. I felt safe as a single woman staying here after flying in late to Nashville. The place was spotless and I was able to get late check out. I would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Clean, spacious, good lighting
- 5/5
The room was nice and clean restaurants nearby walking distance
- 5/5
It was easy to check in and the location was perfect for our purpose
- 2/5
This hotel is terrible. The pictures of the room makes it look like a really nice place that is deceiving. The floor was dirty and the door had a gap under the door and we had bugs crawling into the room so we took a towel and put it up why we was sleeping. The bed was horrible mattress was hard as a brick. Sheets were dirty and no staff on site so we had a cover with us and used that. The had plywood for a head board and cabinets with metal cheap hangers. Shower was slick like it had a film on it and the shower head wouldn’t put water out. First night I think we heard gun shots and the 2nd nite some drunk people fell up the stairs and fell into our door and cut there arm. Needless to say I won’t ever go there again.
- 3/5
Beds were very firm. Pillows were thin and flimsy. AC unit was so loud we had trouble falling and staying asleep. Shower curtain rod was overextended or bent to the point that the curtain would not remain closed.
- 3/5
The coffee maker is a keurig. Plenty of room for storage and to spread out. Convenient location to downtown
- 4/5
The room was nice and cool and clean. Parked right up front for easy unloading.
- 5/5
Will be back again!! Super cute little hotel that is well decorated and in a great location. I loved the vibe. The Sunflower cafe is one of my all time favorite restaurants and it’s right behind the hotel. This is a major plus to me and almost makes this tiny little budget motel feel like a destination vacation!
- 5/5
I was in a King Room off the back of the building. Room was well appointed and clean. The air conditioner needed to be adjusted but the overall temperature was maintained all night. The air conditioner itself was a little loud but it provided white noise. This hotel is an excellent value and I would stay there again. Most Nashville hotels charge at least $30 for overnight parking.
- 4/5
Staff responses very helpful and nice. Room was very clean. A little scary for me that there were no staff (am old woman) but very interesting and cost effective. There were a few loud noises outside both nights, late. I don’t believe they were other lodgers, more like trains or large trucks. If I were younger i would definitely recommend it mire heartily!
- 4/5
Our stay was fine. Check in was easy. Everthing was clean and neat. No frills kind of place. Could use somemore outlets. But overall nice for the price
- 4/5
Great location clean.
- 4/5
Staff was kind. But, cleaning lady came in before check out. The room was fine and cozy. However, it was noisy at night.
- 5/5
we like the fact that it's not outrageously expensive & it has what we need for our quick medical trips to vanderbilt
- 5/5
I actually liked the Iris Motel more than I thought. It was comfortable and clean. I was unsure about not having someone at the front desk but it didnt make a difference. The only thing I didn't like was how close it was to the road. There was a pothole that every dump truck hit. It was pretty loud and woke me up a few times. Other than that it was great! The Common Ground restaurant was fantastic!
- 5/5
Very clean, easy to access, and affordable. Guests walking on 2nd level were pretty loud so thinking the experience would be better up there compared to 1st floor. Pillows were lumpy and could use an upgrade. Otherwise, I had everything I needed for my short stay.
- 2/5
The access code upon arrival did not work. Checkout reminders even before check-in are in poor taste. No better or worse than an average room anywhere. Sticky floor, broken shower, but clean room, convenient location.
- 3/5
I love this business model! You stay without having to see or interact with anyone. The room had several thoughtful touches. With more small touches, this would be a great place to stay! There’s nothing wrong with it as is, for just a quick overnight, but I probably wouldn’t return. More specifically, the tv is too small, the bed is adequate but nothing more, the internet (and cell service) are terrible.
- 3/5
Basic no frills clean room. Just what we needed
- 4/5
Our room was fine, very basic, and interestingly renovated using inexpensive materials and decor. It’s not a luxury hotel, but it’s decent. My only complaint was the shower curtain rod was not secured properly so the curtain kind of fell open a bit allowing water to splash out. Also, I showered before bed and had forgotten to pack socks or slippers. By the time I got into bed the bottoms of my feet were dirty.
- 5/5
We had a water leak in our room when we arrived. We contacted the staff and they put us in a different room quickly! They were so accommodating and supportive! I will definitely stay there again!
- 4/5
Good price for close proximity and easy Uber ride to downtown.
- 3/5
Conveniently located, but furniture was very basic- like someone screwed in pieces of plywood to form a headboard then stuck light behind it. Looked much better in pictures than in person.
- 5/5
We stayed on the 2nd floor and the smoking area was right in front of our door.
- 5/5
Location was great for taking an Uber to Broadway.
- 5/5
Ok
- 5/5
Easy, clean, everything I needed!
- 5/5
A boutique motel. Plentiful dining options nearby. Clean property and rooms. Easy check in.
- 5/5
Clean and affordable in a great location- note, no microwave in room, but there is a fridge and a microwave to use in the lobby.
- 4/5
Note that this is not a great place if you have work to do, no desk or the like to sit and set up a laptop or the like
- 5/5
The Iris was a very cleaning motel. The staff was super helpful. Highly recommend.
- 3/5
Didn’t match the online pictures
- 5/5
Safe, clean and quiet. Did not need anything more...it was great for the money we paid.
- 5/5
The decor is super adorable, everything was clean, nothing was broken, there were plenty of towels and everything seemed to be taken care of. The bed was comfortable and the bedding was nice. We had DoorDash delivered and they had no issues with them getting it to us. I'd stay here again!
- 4/5
Need more restaurants
- 5/5
No ice machine- otherwise all good
- 5/5
This is the second time we have stayed here at the Iris and it’s becoming our go-too motel when we visit Nashville!
- 4/5
Nicely remodeled motel with convenient check in/out. No front desk, all communication check in/out online & via text. No issues.
- 5/5
The room was clean, ready ahead of time, and well stocked. Low noise levels and budget friendly!
- 5/5
Clean and comfortable, which made a pleasure to stay at
- 5/5
I stay here every time I visit Nashville. Even though there isn’t a front desk, help is a text away. Great place.
- 4/5
My experience was okay. It’s a fine room, and it’s clean. But there’s nowhere to sit except on the bed. I needed to get some work done and had to use the bed, which was awkward. So, it’s fine, but not as a place to hang out or eat a take-out meal, and do anything except sleep or lay down. The location next to some awesome cafes was outstanding, it’s an EASY drive to downtown or the Vanderbilt area.
- 2/5
We were very disappointed to see the condition of the actual room vs. what was shown online. Beds and shelves were made from plywood. Bedding, specially pillowcases, were not appropriate to sleep on. Not sure how the rating of 8.8 ever came to be. On par with a Super 8 or Red Roof Inn. Not what would be expected from a boutique motel.
- 4/5
This is a "remote" motel. There is no staff at scene. All communication with staff is via text. Microwave was in the 'lobby'. Bed was average. But the biggest thing was the train noise. Even at 2:00am the air horns would 'wake the dead". In addition, there is no place (except sitting in bed) to get any work done. No desk or chair. Wi-fi was slow. Staff was accomodating and we were able to check in 90 minutes prior to the actual check-in time. Check out was a breeze.
- 5/5
Loved the room
- 5/5
Very clean, small but big enough for us. The upstairs people were a little noisy but it was fine. We were here for a cheer competition. Will definitely recommend or stay again.
- 5/5
This was a fantastic experience. Staff communication was great. Everything was clean and worked. Location is very convenient.
- 5/5
Very Clean and close to downtown!
- 5/5
Was very simple but we didn’t need much, just a place to lay our heads.
- 3/5
The worst part though is the noise. The motel would have to insulate and rebuild but you can hear literally everything. The loud highway and road, the bus when it stops, people walking above you (every step), the next door alarm for someone waking up, conversation outside the door or in neighboring rooms, etc. The window and door are also quite drafty which makes the a/c & heat work quite hard and often. Overall a great idea for a motel with some nice modernized touches but still has some improvements to make. That said, if you like to sleep with earplugs and want an affordable spot for a night or two in Nashville, it’s an option to consider.
- 5/5
The check-in was easy. The room was nice. The staff seemed nice. It was a unique experience because there's no front desk and you get a code to check into your room and checkout. My only complaint is that the bathroom was small. I would stay here again, though
- 5/5
Extremely clean and comfortable. Super easy instructions for check in and out. Good location and friendly staff who communicate quickly and efficiently. Will definitely stay here again!
- 5/5
We have stayed at least 3 times no complaints
- 5/5
We've stayed here several times because it's very reasonable & convenient to the medical office we come from out of town to see. The staff is always kind & easy to work with if you have any questions or concerns. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE IRIS!!
- 5/5
I appreciated the host on the phone who helped us with our booking and really went out of her way to assist us with our extended stay.
- 5/5
Wish there was more parking lot lighting, especially in the back. Also a sofa would be nice. No place to sit other than bed.
- 5/5
loved my stay here! the parking was easy and i liked that each room had a code to get into. area felt safe and the rooms were VERY clean and updated. will be staying here again when i come back to nashville!
- 1/5
This is the worst motel I have ever stayed in in my life because I couldn't even sleep because there was too much noise from all sides.
- 5/5
We loved this property. It was conveniently located to so many things. It was clean and the staff communicated with me the entire time and met all our needs. Much better than a large hotel.
- 2/5
Clean, poor electrical plugs 1.5 in bedroom 1 in bathroom, nowhere to set except bed which was comfortable, double check your room request before you head out !
- 5/5
A very simple and affordable place to stay right out of the city! Only about an 8 minute drive to downtown ☺️
- 5/5
Surprisingly clean and convenient to my needs.
- 5/5
Great test/email communication about check-in, arrived, entered the code in the door and we were in. The room was clean. However, when it is advertised as a modern minimalist motel, that's exactly what they meant. There was no furniture in the room other than the bed (which was extremely comfortable). There was built in shelving for storage, nightstand, etc. Luckily, we had driven and had our camp chairs in the car which we used for seating. I had an issue getting to the ice machine which was another coded door - got immediate help via text and did manage to get it open. The next night I could not get the door open again and just gave up. The location was great, it was about a $10 Uber ride to Broadway, many restaurants and shops in the area. The price was decent. I'd stay again if I could bring my own chairs.
- 5/5
Liked the room and area.
- 5/5
While the digital only checkin process is odd, and not fully immediate, it was fine and ultimately nothing really extra over standard checkin processes. The motel room was spacious and remodeled, even if the remodeled bathroom was small. It was by far the cheapest decent option around, and we’d be happy to return.
- 5/5
Everything was good
- 3/5
The Iris was okay but definitely not what we expected. The room was clean and bathroom was nicely renovated. When we booked we were under the impression that it was a boutique type hotel but quickly realized upon our arrival that it was a motel. For what it was, it was, nice just not what we were expecting
- 5/5
We stayed at the Iris for an overnight trip for a doctor's appointment. Place is quiet, room was very clean and as pictured. Management was quick to communicate when they were needed. Overall nice little place to stay!
- 5/5
The Iris Gal on your phone is amazing. Nice, efficient, and helpful. We've stayed at the Iris many times.
- 5/5
Clean
- 3/5
Cute motel that was very clean. I loved the papaya soap. There is no staff on site so you must text them to get entry instructions and leave your credit card on file. There was no place for me to park both nights so I parked across the street. The area is commercial and not very appealing. There's a big Walmart plaza directly across the street. The adjacent highway is noisy so it was difficult to sleep. I think the pricing is a bit a on the high side, and like other reviewers, I would rather have had an 11am check-out time.
- 5/5
Clean
- 5/5
The Iris Motel was centrally located, unpretentious but comfortable with everything we wanted, perfectly clean with everything working the way it should. I used the microwave in the lobby fairly often, so not having one in the room was fine. The mini-frig in the room was handy.
- 3/5
Too exposed
- 5/5
Always clean and friendly
- 5/5
Absolutely the best time, while it was a little odd not to have a front desk it was super easy to get in and settled. It was the perfect location outside of downtown Naahville.
- 2/5
But hotel was not what i was expecting from booking photos. I knew it was an older newly renovated motel. But seems they havnt gotten my room renovated yet. Its outdated inside. AC unit was loud, Tv barely worked. Brown Recluse spider in bathtub. Tiny parking lot. Not trying to complain, just being honest. It seemed like a safe location. Alot of food options near by. All n all it was ok for 2days.
- 4/5
Road traffic is noisy
- 4/5
This is a minimalist Motel. A nice place to rest with absolutely no frills.
- 4/5
It was very cute and as always I love the parking right in front. The whole code thing was new to me and I’m going to be honest (maybe I didn’t understand the instructions but I don’t remember reading them either) but apparently you are supposed to just press any numbers after closing the door to “lock it” whoops - will know for future I guess. The room had what I needed and considering there’s no room service they do provide with extra items. My only thing is that, even with the air conditioner being at 68 it felt a little humid/stuffy inside. In my experience this happens when the A/c needs to be cleaned out but not sure if it’s the case. The temperature of the room allows me to sleep better and be more comfortable and couldn’t really get that full comfortable temp. Other than that communicating with team was good (no issues so don’t know how after hours really work but they do provide numbers incase of emergency that are 24/7. It’s close enough to downtown that you can Uber (maybe even cheaper than parking downtown at times) quiet and safe neighborhood
- 5/5
It was clean and safe
- 5/5
Clean basic room that was very comfortable. Close to the things we wanted to do. Price was great. I'd stay there again.
- 4/5
We arrived on Friday and the codes worked just as described in email. The room was cool and clean. I had read previous reviews and brought two power strips and an extension cord because there was only three outlets…one outlet at bathroom sink and were the coffee maker was plugged in and one outlet under table between beds. The beds were comfortable. The TV worked great. I brought a foam soap dispenser for the sink and to my surprise this is the first hotel that had a soap dispenser at the sink. The coffee maker is a one cup kerrig so we brought our own coffee maker and used it for a full pot of coffee. Refrigerator dis not have the small freezer in it to freezer our ice packs but there is an ice machine to the right of the lobby in a hallway that they will give you a code to that is different than the code in the lobby where the microwave is. The only complaints I would say would be that the air conditioner did cool the room but doesn’t really remove the humidity. The towels were still damp the next morning when we hung them up. The other thing would be that the clothes hanger pole is larger than standard hangers. They provided six hangers but our clothes were on hangers and kept falling off the pole. It was a nice place and reasonably priced. Plenty of towels, toilet paper and they have a hair dryer in the room. Walmart is right across the street and there are neat restaurants nearby. We went to the Pfunky Griddle and you cook some of your own breakfast on griddle in table
- 5/5
cute, clean and convenient renovated motel. surprisingly quiet near the highway and just a hop away from walmart if we needed anything.
- 5/5
Will definitely be coming back!
- 5/5
We loved our stay at the iris. It was a completely remote check in process. Room was clean, and cute. I will be staying here again when I’m back in Nashville

Just the bare necessities, but that's all you really need. Nice clean rooms. Will stay again.

This was a lovely little place with a very easy commute into the city. I would highly recommend to anyone.

Great motel for a reasonable price. Will definitely stay here again next time we're in Nashville

Enjoyed our stay very much. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Overall a pleasant stay. Only negative thing I’d have to say is the check in time is way too late and the check out time is way too early. Both are very inconvenient.

I liked how easy it was to get around and you were only about 10 minutes from downtown.

It was all I needed as a stopping place for a work function in town. I have to note, that one important oversight can cause it to not be ideal, and for me that was that there was no inside latch, a very loose door frame and an electronic code to access the unit (hackable?) to get in. It did not feel secure, and I didnt sleep all night. Please... that inside door latch is so important for security reasons, especially being a motel where the door exits right out to the road.

The Iris Motel was perfect for our short stay in Nashville. It was in a perfect location for us it was not far from the Basement east and the Pharmacy Burger Parlor.

great stay, friendly helpful staff!

First, I almost couldn’t find my room. There are front and back areas of the building. I didn’t receive information regarding that so I had ask other folks that stayed here for directions. Second, the AC is loud. Like really loud. I normally wear earplugs to sleep and the AC’s sound easily penetrates through them. Even with the lowest fan setting, it was so loud that I had to wait until it stops and try to fall asleep during that short interval. I couldn’t get used to the sound for the two nights I stayed here. If you are a light sleeper or sensitive to sounds, I don’t think this is the right place for you. Also, the AC is dusty and blew dust over the duvet. Third, sound insulation. I could hear my next door neighbor opening and closing their doors as well as folks parking their cars outside.

My biggest concern was how DARK the outside is. The lighting in front of the doorways is dark and points straight down so walking up to my room in the dark was sketchy and felt unsafe. Parking was difficult too if you are the rear of the building. Overall, it was clean so one night isn't the end of the world but I would not stay here again.

Modern, convenient and clean. Has all I need for a motel.

Check in and communication were efficient and easy. The room was cool, and had plenty of room for the two of us, but humid, likely due to the excessive heat this weekend. Overall, a great weekend stay with no major issues. Would definitely stay again.

The outside was a little run down . The walls are thin. Not fancy or cutesy but the staff was very great at responded and accommodating. It was clean and close. Priced well and overall did the trick.
