Clean, staff were friendly and helpful The bathroom- the sliding door, the lack of a place to put a towel for after you shower

The neighborhood is in poor condition, and the constant smell of marijuana is unpleasant. The presence of many homeless people around the corner makes the area feel unsafe. Everything.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room.was comfortable and quite large for NYC standards The common areas and the lobby could be improved as they are quite small.and not particularly comfortable
- 4/5
My room was nice bed was very comfortable a few things i couldnt get the water pressure right for shower for awhile also the light switches were confusing but i managed the biggest problem is there is only 1 microwave for the entire hotel! That is insane they could atleast have 1 microwave on each floor if not rooms.
- 2.5/5
The bed was very soft and comfortable. The face sink and the shower is at the front door entrance of the room being naked by the front door entrance of your room dose not feel good.
- 3/5
Location and comfortable bed Rather scruffy and air conditioning was noisy Great location but could do with a smarten up

The room is spacious for NYC Upper East Side and a walk distance to Columbia University, the hotel staff are very helpful.
- 4/5
Great staff
- 4/5
The staff is amazing! Extremely helpful and very friendly. The tile in my bathroom needs a good steam and scrub. The grout was filthy and there was mildew in a few areas. The carpet in my room and the hallway (3rd floor) had several large stains. If you look past the stains and dirty grout, however, this hotel is in a great location. Easy walk to Columbia for my daughter’s graduation. Minutes to Morningside Park for a morning run. And a 20-30 minute walk to restaurants.
- 4/5
The location was great. Subway and bus service very accessible.
- 5/5
We had a red eye flight, and the staff was amazingly accommodating and it really made our stay
- 4/5
Good for short stays
- 4.5/5
The room needs a chaise lounge in every room a comfy chair something
- 4/5
Very good
- 5/5
When we checked in it was loud, but the rooms were still quiet. Great location
- 3/5
parking fees could have been better, $ 65 a day for parking is a bit stiff and you can only take the car out one time during the trip.

Very good value for NYC!
- 5/5
Coffee in the morning. Big, comfortable beds. Ample windows with shades. Staff very helpful. We had to change room when a/c wasn’t working. Quickly got new room.

The staff was very nice and helpful. They answered all my questions and explained everything so that I didn’t worry. They even went so far as looking for matches to help me light my daughter’s birthday candles. We will return and plan to visit Aloft Hotels in the future.

Nice location; quiet; and clean
- 3.5/5
Paid for breakfast but did not get it
- 5/5
Could not hear desk staff. Music was blasting Otherwise great
- 5/5
I did not use the bar, and barely took advantage of the food available but the latter all looked good. All members of staff I encountered were friendly and helpful, and my room was well attended to on a daily basis.
- 5/5
Very friendly staff, clean hotel, clean rooms

This place was great- the staff were wonderful, friendly and helpful, especially Tisha. Room was extremely clean and comfortable. Good location, felt safe walking around. Overall a great stay.
- 5/5
Bar was good
- 3/5
room was clean and staff was nice. It was a bit loud. walls are abnormally thin. Heard crying babies multiple rooms down the hall
- 4/5
MY STAY AT THE ALOFT IS USALLY EXCELLENT, HOWEVER THE LAST TIME I STAYED THERE THE YOUNG LADY AT THE FRONT DESK TOOK HER TIME GIVING ME BACK MY MONEY, I LEFT FORVMY DEPOSIT. I TOLD HER I HAD TO GER TO WORK
- 4/5
Everything was good staff was great and friendly and helpful. I will return again if need be.
- 4/5
Friendly and very helpful front desk staff. Had a little bar area and the bartender made a wonderful manhattan cocktail. Added breakfast for 2 when booking, which was not really a full breakfast so that was misleading. They gave us $20 credit which paid for 2 breakfast sandwiches that were very good but did not cover drinks so we paid extra for coffee and OJ. Valet parking is $55 but there is also $10 of state taxes on parking so $65 per night for parking. If you have mobility issues it might be challenging as they had several somewhat steep stairs to get to the entrance of the hotel and I didn’t see an elevator but I could have missed it? Had connect 4 game and pool table in the lobby area, and vibrant art displayed. Room and bed was comfortable. They held luggage for us when he checked out. Overall we enjoyed our stay, thank you!

Yes
- 5/5
Minor grievances: would like better lighting controls. Bathroom area all on or all off, and bedroom area all on or all off doesn't always work.
- 5/5
Very clean
- 5/5
Nice Clean place. Close to shopping, trains, and buses!"love the Aloft Harlem!
- 2/5
Honestly, I expected better... I wanted to have an oatmeal and they didn't even bad spoons for the guest. In the entire area. I was so discouraged the the next day I didn't even try to have breakfast there.
- 4/5
Room was clean and the staff was helpful.
- 4/5
Everything was pretty good for the most part. The only complaints I have was that the air was really dry in the room, it seemed like the temperature control device was not working because it barely changed the temp in the room, and there were no garbage bags on the garage bins. The staff was great and helpful, and the other guests were also very nice and helpful. Maybe it was the specific room that we were in. I'd def stay here again and just hope to not run into the same issue.
- 5/5
Room was clean, staff was nice and the bar was open until 12.
- 4/5
Excellent location
- 5/5
All of the photos are accurate. The staff is very friendly. The location is great. The bed is comfortable and the shower has great velocity. Who can ask for anything more?!
- 5/5
Had no issues with my stay. The room was nice and clean. The staff was very helpful. Looking for3to staying again.

Useful
- 1/5
The internet was down all night had business to take care fail with that the water was so milky my wife got sick in room 516 just I never thought this would be the outcome
- 1/5
Black mold in shower. No shampoo (bottle was literally empty). Phone not working, so I couldn’t even call the front desk to have more shampoo brought. Wi-fi was broke for the night.
- 2/5
I paid an additional fee specifically for Wi-Fi. After calling for the access code, I was told the Wi-Fi will not be working until tomorrow, the day I check out. This is unacceptable, as I paid for a service that was unavailable during my stay. No compensation or a refund for the Wi-Fi charge offered as of yet!
- 5/5
Very clean, staff is very nice bartender is super cool
- 5/5
Clean room
- 4/5
Very friendly staff but the floor in the room was a little dirty.
- 5/5
Yes everything was great
- 5/5
Nice hotel overall! Very accommodating for a last minute trip. Close to subways!
- 5/5
The room is clean with daily room service. The public transportation is nearby. The enviroment is safety, and parking is easy with free street park just in front of the hotel. We immensely enjoy our stay.
- 2/5
The staff is very friendly, but the rooms needs a lot of attention. The heaters are not that big enough to keep the room warm. We stayed there for 2 night cold even when the temperature was adjusted. During our stay nobody came to clean our room, good thing they have plenty of towels in their rooms.
- 4/5
Good
- 1/5
Room was horrible. I read the reviews how the room were very clean...Not sure who the reviews came from, becausethat was not the case. Also, my allergies were horrible because of the allowance of pets in the hotel, which I didnt notice at the time of booking, but for it to affectme like that shows how unclean the rooms were. I was very disappointed by the uncleaness of the rooms.
- 5/5
Everything and everyone was outstanding
- 4/5
Central location for all the events we had that weekend. Responsive and friendly staff.
- 4/5
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean but the bathroom could use a little TLC. Great location for the subway. All in all a great hotel.
- 4/5
Clean lobby and room but the curtain was stuck closed and it had a stain on it.
- 3/5
Rooms were dirty and outdated . Mattress had a stain . Desk was dirty , carpet is dirty .. bring house shoes.. i guess for NY for that price what can you expect. It was close to some good dining spots like Sylvias and central park
- 5/5
Staff friendly and on point
- 5/5
Clean spacious room, very comfortable for my 1 night short stay.
- 3/5
Won't stay here again and can't recommend, especially given the exorbitant price
- 5/5
Yes the staff was courteous
- 2/5
The room was dirty took photos of the carpeting soiled and stained worn out furniture mold in the grout in the bathroom extremely disappointed that Marriott cannot keep up this property beyond that the hotel manager is obviously not doing the proper job and ensuring these rooms are clean. Staff was very friendly and nice.
- 5/5
Very clean rom. The front desk staff were hospitable. Conveniently located to transportation.
- 4/5
Needs updating as it looks like a nursing home turned hotel. There were holes in the shower wall and tape everywhere as though they may still be fixing things. If that is the case, it shouldn’t be renting the rooms.. but very Harlem vibe, ok for a 1 night stay only, which is what I needed it for
- 3/5
The staff was very friendly and the vibe of the lobby was wonderful with the bar, pool table and live jazz music. The quality of the room was disappointing. It was very dusty on the wall, AC unit and on little things like the alarm clock next to the bed, the sink had a sewage smell coming out of it and we noticed a weird ring around the top of it, the shower wouldn’t drain properly and our first night there we noticed the carpet in the room was soaking wet on the opposite side of the shower wall by the bed my guess is due to a leak. We had to place a towel over it. Close to subway lines and plenty of places to eat. Overall, wouldn’t stay here again due to the quality of the room.
- 4/5
Staff extremely friendly and helpful. WiFi wasn’t so great but for a nights stay it didn’t bother me. Overall I would stay again.
- 1/5
Double booked my room so nothing available. They sent me to another hotel
- 3/5
You can tell this used to be a really nice property when it was built about 15 years ago but the property wasn’t treated with care by guests and it shows. The local neighborhood is great - great restaurants, nice parks, easy access to ABCD trains.
- 5/5
Always a good stay 🙂
- 3/5
The whole keycard system was down and we never received a card for our room. We had to be escorted every time we left the room….checkin was by a printed piece of paper!
- 3/5
The bar was very unpleasant to sit at with an air conditioning fan blowing hard and loud right at the seats. Unfortunately very uninviting
- 4/5
Needs updating - bathroom, vents need to be cleaned , carpet needs deep cleaning , walls need painting, lobby and entrance needs painting and cleaning
- 3/5
Internet was very fast - the TV is first rate - the AC works great.
- 5/5
Great
- 1/5
Told them about the room and mold no response
- 3/5
It’s an out-of-date Aloft. When you think of Aloft, you think of modern style rooms, but this Aloft is really out-of-date.
- 2/5
The room was in very poor condition — it was dirty, had a strong unpleasant odor, and lacked basic essentials like a blanket on the bed. The overall state of the room made it feel like it was falling apart. While the staff were friendly, the service was extremely slow. It was surprising to see only one person working the front desk during peak check-in time, which led to a wait of over 45 minutes just to check in. The heat/air also did not work. It was either on or off you could not adjust the temperature
- 4/5
Overall we had a great trip. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. The rooms were neat and clean. The location was great everything was within walking distance & public transportation stopped right in front of the hotel. Only issue was it said it was a non smoking environment but everyday we had headaches from all the marijuana being smoked inside the hotel.
- 5/5
Very friendly and helpful staff, very large room, especially for New York
- 5/5
The staff members were friendly, location is convenient to the subway and nearby restaurants. I asked for a quiet room away from elevators, etc. Was given a “quiet” room around the corner from the elevator - loud beeps at 2 am and 6 am. I asked to leave a bag before I went to the airport; was told no. The manager was too busy to speak to me.
- 4/5
I enjoyed my stay. Room clean and staff was very friendly.
- 5/5
We got exceedingly lucky with early check-in after a redeye flight and we were so, so grateful. This was my third stay at Aloft Harlem and the staff are always kind an attentive. Our stay was peaceful, comfortable and convenient as ever.
- 4/5
All good except: Noisy AC and an unobstructed view of the roof trash.
- 3/5
Great bar service
- 4/5
Bartender was alot of fun and super friendly Our Explorer was too big for valet parking, had parking right out front of hotel
- 4/5
Parking was difficult. I wish it was better and closer dining.
- 4/5
The hotel’s location was great, as there were many restaurants and shopping just minutes away via walking.
- 4/5
Incredibly amazing staff!
- 5/5
It was a great experience staff friendly
- 4/5
The floor and bathroom were dated but the bed was comfortable. The price of the room was very reasonable. It was easy to get to the hotel from Laguardia.
- 5/5
My husband and I spent my birthday night here at this cute, boutique hotel. Exceptional service upon walk in, received a free drink voucher at their bar. Room was very clean. Free wifi - internet service (youtube hulu etc) - breakfast included.
- 4/5
That being sad. The room was very clean. The bed and linens were very comfortable. The noise was a minimal in the room except for sirens and we were on the very top floor. Good ac, hot shower, lots of towels.
- 5/5
Walking distance from almost all things including train, bus, shopping and Columbia univ

Best thing I can say, is the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, desipite the late hour.

Convenient and close to some universities
- 5/5
It was convenient and close to Columbia University
- 4/5
Not very well kept property
- 4/5
I don't think the elevator was cleaned once my entire 4 day stay there. I will say this, their staff at the front desk were super helpful and warm.
- 5/5
Flawless
- 5/5
Quiet spacious room, nice bar and friendly staff.
- 5/5
Great location near lots of amazing parts of the city.
- 5/5
I was surprise at how quite and relaxing it was, with a location in the heart of a busy city. The bed was very comfotable. I loved how unique the setting was. I was in the city for one night and I enjoyed my stay, I totally forgot I was in NYC. I loved the acces to the transportation. Great location and atmosphere.
- 3/5
Area was a bit dirty
- 4/5
great location
- 4/5
Stayed here a few times. Conveniently located in Harlem and near all modes of transportation. Bar area very nice and friendly. Hotel in need of a little update for the nightly price
- 4/5
Staff and Housekeeping were very nice and helpful.
- 5/5
Great hotel. Friendly staff.
- 5/5
The first thing I noticed when I arrived to the hotel is the cleaning special the bed and I was comfortable with this one very clean and comfortable bed.. housekeeping very friendly and front desk answered all questions.
- 5/5
Fantastic hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. NEILANIE at the front desk, checked us in. She was so helpful. I loved staying here. Great location. Just around the corner from the subway. Will stay at again when I return to NYC.
- 3/5
It was ok
- 4/5
Thank you for the hospitality
- 5/5
Very accessible and great vibes!
- 1/5
Reseved a room with a king size bed… received a room with a full and was told by staff all the rooms had king size beds…. I own a king size bed and know for sure it was not!

Horrible woke up to hotel construction before 9am after a
- 5/5
Paula at the front desk saved the day two days after my stay. The guys at the front are never too good with help. Thank you Paula u made this stay better than my recent stays!
- 5/5
Great hotel! Close to supermarkets and shopping, and public transport too.
- 5/5
Really great hotel. The staff are very helpful and friendly and the have breakfast options on offer. The hotel is very close to public transport and supermarkets/shopping. Would highly recommend to others
- 5/5
Wonderful staff and amenities for the price
- 5/5
Rough area but nice hotel
- 5/5
surrounding area is a bit noisy, but subway is not far away, which is really convenient.
- 4/5
Ok
- 5/5
Great
- 1/5
Rooms were filthy I had to keep changing rooms until I found that was clean with out and damages
- 4/5
Good basic hotel at a decent price near Columbia University. At least two great restaurants (Ethiopian and Spanish) within a five-minute walk and good selection of snacks and breakfast foods at the hotel store. I was REALLY impressed with how quiet the room was. Great staff -- everyone was friendly and helpful.
- 3/5
Cozy room, clean but dark.
- 5/5
Good location. Friendly efficient staff. QUIET room! Clean and comfortable.
- 5/5
The staff was excellent and well informed. Comfortable beds!
- 5/5
Clean and convenient
- 2/5
Rooms are much too small. Not enough space to move about. Very tight and not uncomfortable to move around
- 5/5
Great experience, will definitely stay again next time we visit Harlem.
- 2/5
Floor was gross and stained, room smelled like cigarettes, bed was uncomfortable and lumpy and didn’t feel safe in the hallways.
- 5/5
NIce room; would stay here again.
- 2/5
The only thing going for this place was location. The hotel room was so run down. I did not take a shower because it was gross… dirty between the grout and the mirrors and glass were not clean. I kept my shoes and clothes on the entire time.
- 4/5
Pretty decent and secure. Friendly staff
- 5/5
Economical yet nice and convenient.
- 3/5
My main issue is the condition of the rooms. There were unfinished walls, scratches, and even a gap between the bed and wall. Its def time for an upgrade/renovation.
- 3/5
The team was amazing including the bartender and a resident who really helped us out a lot since it was our first time in New York and they helped us with directions and how to take the subway, and we had a great time our rooms were clean and there were food places everywhere! Love that part
- 5/5
Stay was perfect. Just need usb ports for charging the phones.
- 4/5
The
- 4/5
The property does not have a microwave in the room. The elevator down to the property makes an odd sound. The room was modern and very clean.
- 5/5
The property was clean. The staff was nice and answered any concerns right away. There was entertainment downstairs on the nights we were there. The only thing I would suggest is to add microwaves to the rooms.
- 3/5
Always drama at this place even my VIP status don’t give me good service! I had two reservations and they didn’t connect them regardless of my prior request to do so. At time of entry drama (I had to come from a funeral) to get my daughter inside the place! And of course it was my fault!
- 5/5
Staff was exceptional! Manager and night staff helpful eager to help!
- 4/5
A perfect location.
- 4/5
The room didn’t have enough light and the carpet needs to be replaced. I would stay again and hopefully those issues can be resolved
- 5/5
We loved our stay at this place. All the staff was very friendly and welcoming.
- 5/5
Great place to stay while visiting Manhattan School of Music.
- 3/5
Staff were so kind and helpful. Room was clean but needs routine updating. Window shade was stained, paint chipped on one wall but overall room was clean and decent. The hardest part is there was no heat my first night. The staff brough up a space heater but it didn't really work. The next day they fixed the heat. The hotel served its purpose as I had a last minute funeral and was traveling alone. Not sure if I would stay again.
- 4/5
Good value. Clean, spacious, comfortable, quiet except for traffic outside. Pillows and coffee set up could be better. Will stay again. Nice staff.
- 4/5
When I asked about the VIP and they did not have any idea what I was talking about so I was not able to use my benefit
- 5/5
Aloft was just what i needed at the time it definitely gave me a piece of mind while i was there
- 5/5
Staff was friendly and room was great!
- 5/5
Parking is a bummer in Harlem, so I will not leave that as review! Aloft is amazing! Great staff! Great rooms.
- 2/5
The young lady who checked me in was very kind and helpful.
- 2/5
Overall, the pictures on the website make it appear nice and I generally have good experiences with Aloft but stay away from this hotel. It’s dirty, old, and not ideal for people who need peace and quiet.
- 5/5
Very nice a little gem in Harlem
- 5/5
Lovely front desk staff, wonderful Saturday event full of fun. The only downside was the extreme price for drinks…$19.50 for one!
- 5/5
Nice stay. Will stay again!
- 4/5
Nice space and energy. No room services though
- 5/5
My husband and I drove in from out of town for a funeral. The stay at Aloft Harlem was easy; the staff was welcoming and all my needs were met. This took one major stress out of a stressful weekend. Thank you.
- 3/5
Reception was not good. There was blankets in room and we called for an hour and no one picked up. The room was really cold and uncomfortable and no one picked up the phone to assist. We slept uncomfortably in the cold.
- 5/5
Room was nice enough, but needed a little TLC (safe didn't work. shower door handle loose, etc.). Staff was very friendly and helpful. I'd definitely stay there again.
- 3/5
Great
- 5/5
Property was excellent!
- 3/5
The check in was great. The room was clean but the bathroom had rust n mold in the corner of the wall and around the shower mob and the shower head was dirty. The rest of the rooms was just fine.
- 5/5
The location is close to a lot of shops , restaurant, Apolo theater and columbia university, i stayed at the Aloft before this time the cleanness of the room was ok , garbage left in the can , fridge need more attention, dust was on the wall on top of tv . But the check in was quick , quiet room , staff were super friendly
- 4/5
I would have given ALOFT 5stars across the board, except upon arrival your outdoor elevator to the hotel that’s downstairs was out of service I had to navigate downstairs in the sleeting rain and snow with my luggage nearly falling. I know the staff had to see me your cameras are everywhere, I could have fallen and hurt myself, that is my only complaint I have stayed at your other properties with no problems or complaint once in the building everyone and accommodations were great.
- 5/5
It was a cute, comfy, and convenient place to stay!
- 2/5
No service at bar lounge, understaffed. Make sure you bring combs, toothpaste etc. they don’t supply much but towels and shower supplies. Not much happening in this hotel. Very much a place to be in/out
