Reviews
The Arthouse Hotel is a boutique hotel located in the Upper West Side of New York City, with a great location close to Central Park, subway stations, restaurants, and shopping. Guests generally appreciate the hotel's stylish decor, comfortable rooms, and friendly staff. However, some guests have complained about the lack of amenities in the rooms, such as a refrigerator and a full-length mirror, as well as issues with cleanliness and maintenance.

Great location. Pleasant staff. I will stay there again.

The room was cozy. Clean. Liked the location. Bar area was very cold, just like one of the bartenders. The lady bartender was very nice!
- 4/5
So suggestion for other travelers, order your glass of wine off property unless you are on an expense account that covers alcohol.
- 5/5
Great location. Quiet. Nice atmosphere. Would certainly stay again.

Very much enjoyed our stay

I recently stayed for eight nights while visiting my daughters. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the housekeeping efficient. I especially enjoyed the ambiance of the main floor lounges and bar in the late afternoons. Also, there are plenty of restaurants in the neighborhood if you don't want to venture far. I would definitely stay here again.

It was the second time we stayed in this hotel. The room is clean and comfortable. The staff are friendly, helpful, and professional. It is close to many museums.
- 4/5
Free coffee and pastry was not that good but hotel was great location and worked out well
- 5/5
I always stay at the Arthouse and this was one of my best stays yet. The Knicks watch party, the comfort of the room, catching up with Bob, who helps with bag check, it was a great stay.

Nice!
- 4/5
Hotel was close to metro stations and 79th St transverse central park. NYC was in the 90s and it was wonderful to enter the room with AC keeping a cool 65 degrees F. My room was near the elevator but the floor was quiet. The pillows were more firm than I prefer. Also the room was fairly small - maybe a 2-3 foot walkable space around the bed. As a solo traveler staying one night this wasn't an issue but a second person may have been an issue.
- 5/5
The staff was friendly and answered all of our questions cheerfully. Check in was speedy. Not many options for the free breakfast uf you get that option. There is a happy hour in the bar and the bartenders and waitstaff are friendly and provide great service. The gym is okay; we could make do. Great neighborhood, close to the subway. Great stay!
- 4/5
They have breakfast vouchers for coffee and bread.

Excellent hotel with modern (although smallish) updated rooms.

Room was very clean and the stay was nice! They even had the Knicks game on in the bar! Knicks in 5!!

1st! The internet is horrible. Unreliable. If you are traveling for Business you will be highly disappointed. It doesn’t work consistently in your room and the business center is pathetic. They say it’s a business center, but they have guests and children and even dogs and pets in there and absolutely impossible to do any kind of zoom call or work… every business person was struggling and having issues. It is not a dedicated business center, and the Internet is not reliable. It is loud and crowded and Not just was professionals. Breakfast: with my reservation breakfast was supposed to be included. What you get with breakfast is a small coffee and a toasted plain bagel or croissant. They have a full bakery and other food and it is not included in the breakfast selections. It is a small coffee and a plain bagel or plain croissant. I’m gluten-free and they would not substitute anything even though they had other options. The bar and café are way overpriced- freezing… They turned the music up so loud that it’s unbearable in the Lounge area… and the service is lacking… The room cleaning is lacking at best. Restocking the room was not consistent and the cleaning staff ALWAYS missed something… like sweeping the floor. No washcloths… or partial towel replacements. The front desk staff can be very snippy. No one knows what the other is doing. Inconsistent. Wish I could give a better review… It just takes a little kindnesses

The location is great and the staff are very helpful. The cafe has a great selection of baked goods in the morning. After problems in our first room, the manager arranged for us to change rooms for our last night. The AC in our room went out in the middle of our second night. The engineer sent to fix it did nothing, simply said it seemed to be working when it was not. Also, it took at least 20 minutes to get hot water in our room, which the front desk said was a known problem for rooms on the second floor. If it is known, it should be fixed!
- 5/5
a great stay! There was so much to do nearby. The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable. I would definitely stay here again.
- 4/5
The staff at as great all around. Helpful, professional and courteous. The disappointment was the free breakfast advertised that only consisted of 1 item, either 1 plain and dry croissants, 1 bagel or muffin and an other of the same kind.

Room was clean and properly stocked with everything we needed. Stafff was wonderful from the doormen to counter to bar , we had a great experience. The hotel is closed to the museums and also close to public transportation which was a big plus for us. We traveled with our dog and had a lot of fun walking her to the park which was only two blocks away. 100% recommended!!!! Great restaurants in the area too
- 3/5
The furnishings were stark and cold. Considering the hotel is named Arthouse, there was barely any art in my room nor my friends’ room. I appreciated the free bottles of water and housekeeping was terrific!
- 5/5
We love the Arthouse and when we are in NYC for a visit, it is our preferred hotel. We upgraded to a balcony room and the view of the Hudson was beautiful. Serafina is a wonderful restaurant, which is located next to the hotel.

- 3.5/5
The location is great, just next to the park and a lot of cute restaurants and coffee shops, with a cvs across the street. Very spacious room for the city. The bathroom was a bit run down. The air conditioner was extremely loud and would startle me / wake me up every time it kicked on.
- 5/5
I love the Arthouse hotel I only wish they’d consider loyal repeat customers and perhaps offer an upgrade.
- 4/5
It was the perfect location for the event we were attending

This hotel was very nice and the staff were super friendly. I loved that it was close to two subway stations and so many restaurants! This is my second time staying here and I’ll be back!

Nice size room, great location, friendly accommodating staff
- 3/5
Location in West Side. Construction noise in the morning. No fridge. Crazy tight bathroom.
- 4.5/5
The terrace was beautiful and exactly what you need after a long day in the city. The bathroom is clean and the shower has a comfortable size. The bathroom could be better equipped, but there were plenty of towels.
- 5/5
Good property and a great location for a show at the Beacon Theatre. Check-in staff was excellent and efficient. Room was clean and had the basic amenities necessary for night in the city.
- 3/5
Location was good. Comfy bed We had to do Houdini tricks just to have hot water. The rooms were basic for $500 a night.
- 4/5
This time one elevator was not working during all of my stay and a second one broke for a few days as well. The hotel was packed and the wait time for the elevator was long Also, the more expensive deluxe rooms overlook broadway avenue and the noise makes it difficult to rest. Next time I’m going back to the cheaper rooms…

Room was clean, comfortable bed, pillows. Some of the walls in the bathroom were uneven. The door in the shower was loose and difficult to open you had to push hard. But over all very clean. In my first stay the drain in the shower was clogged. I waited till the next day texted the front desk, stated what happened and asked for a complimentary upgrade, and got a text immediately and was upgraded to a room with a terrace, too bad it was raining I was not able to enjoy it. The staff was good but wish they would have had the desk greet you more friendly and explain what was available in the hotel, like complimentary breakfast and from what time to what time what was available the area. Just being a bit more informative would make you come back.Air conditioning was great. Unfortunately I did not have the breakfast in the hotel, but it looked appealing. The lobby was beautiful and looked very luxurious.

The location is excellent. The room is updated and spacious!!!.

The Arthouse is a wonderful boutique hotel on the UWS. The location is fantastic, the staff is amazing and the accommodations were excellent. I highly recommend this hotel.
- 2/5
- the most upsetting was that the bottles for shampoo, bodywash and handwashing all contained the same liquid - looks like some not the best quality handwashing soap. - room does not have an iron or board, you need to ask for it separately. - noone during the checkin told us that we have free breakfast. Yes, we missed it but the hotel should have been more helpful. - no mini-fridge or minibar in the room. When you open the cabinet door it is just a hole. I have a feeling it is a trend across NYC but this does not make us feel better about our stay

- 4/5
Great location, super friendly staff, house keeping was fantastic and rooms were very clean. My only complaint of the room is that our shower door didn’t close all the way, so water did go all over the floor but easy clean up. There is no reason to charge a resort fee just because you can. Bar was cute and good drinks but not all bartenders were friendly. The elevators were very slow and during our stay, 3 of the 4 elevators were not working correctly. Overall great location and great stay.

facility is not the super new kind, but it is well maintained and clean. no small fridge in my room though, fyi. Overall good stay!
- 5/5
Loved the location, character of the property and convenient amenities.
- 3/5
Bed was clean, the bathroom shower had some dirt in the tub and in the floor. My issue was the $45 per day “incidental fees”. I don’t recall reading that in the contract but it was paid as expected. I would rate the place a B. I did not use the bar or restaurant but it was clearly a popular place
- 1/5
We had to leave as soon as we got there. The ENTIRE lobby including the so-called library was overtaken by the loudest, thumping club/pop music. I asked staff if this music noise goes on all day and she said, “Yes we play this music all day until midnight until the bar closes”. Well I didn’t bring my children to NYC to stay in a bar. Move your bar to an enclosed space away from your hotel lobby so guests can not be trapped in their tiny rooms for $300 a night.
- 5/5
The hotel was very clean, the room was immaculate, and the bar/restaurant was stunning. They also had a coffee bar open in the mornings. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!
- 4/5
Great location - easy access to public transport, Central Park, restaurants Bathroom / shower wasn’t the best.
- 2.5/5
Location only Breakfast was only tea, regular coffee or iced brew With a bagel or a choice of 3 pastries Very disappointing nothing if you are gluten free diet That is not breakfast. !!! Our bathroom was so small on 1 person could fit in and also a petite person not XL people could fit in Not stroller / wheelchair friendly

- 5/5
Loved our stay here…it was quiet, clean and very convenient to everything we wanted to do/see.
- 3/5
The location of the hotel is terrific. Our room had no hot water and when I told the front desk staff - the answer was the hot water comes from tanks on the roof. The lower floors need to run the water for a long time to get hot water. This answer did not really satisfy me as I ran the water for 10 minutes. A hot shower on a rainy cold day would have been nice, and quite frankly expected from an expensive hotel in NYC.
- 4/5
Very good
- 4/5
It would have been nice to have a fridge you can ask for one but have to pay extra. The elevators are slow and couple times one would not be working. It was a good location for us near the subway and buses. I would overall stay there again.
- 3/5
The room was great, BUT the air conditioner was too loud (and dirty-looking), so we had to have it off to fall asleep. That was not OK>
- 4/5
Very good
- 4/5
lovely lobby bar and many others give this place a great feel. staff were very helpful and proactive and room was immaculate. downgraded because of elevator issues during my brief visit.
- 4/5
Like the staff. Property is okay for the price. Some of the elevators were out of service.
- 4/5
The elevators are small, very slow, old and one of only four was down. The room was decently cleaned - I think they forgot to sweep/vacuum as the hardwood floor was dusty and had tiny debris on the floor. The bed was very comfortable and felt and seemed very clean. The AC worked well which was great since we were there in a heat wave. Closet and storage space ample - safe in an unexpected place but good. Although I called ahead and said I’d be arriving early the next morning after checkin time of my reservation, they gave our room away. They put me in a dark, low level floor, out of the way room with a view of a brick wall. I paid for a high floor with street view. I waited in subpar room until 1pm when they promptly called to tell me our room was ready. I lost out on valuable shower, nap & antibacterial wipe down (light switches, remote, etc) time. The best thing about our stay was that three times we needed to call staff to bring us towels, working steamer, etc and ALL 3 x’s they came in 5-10 minutes! I’m accustomed to 1-2 hrs or never at all in any hotel or resort. This was fantastic. Also, all of the staff were friendly, helpful, professional and warm. From housekeeping, to front desk, to doormen, to luggage check and room delivery staff - tremendous!
- 3/5
Love the location. The room was fine. Spartan and dorm like but fine. Fun scene in the lobby.
- 2/5
Location..only My room bathroom was very small ,only 1 person could be in it and also not a L or xl person as there is not space, between the boor and the sink and shower Luckily we are petite. ( HAD A KING SIZE ROOM) We did a breakfast rate included but it was no breakfast only, tea, coffee and ice brew,( no specialty coffees) and a choice of 4 pastries....False advertising. nothing gluten free so could not have anything to eat. That is not breakfast . Staff not helpful, we had stollers and bellmen did not offer to help going up the stairs,(only 1 did ) none of the others. For the price it was extremely disappointing the little things ,the soap in the shower dispenser was empty..should be refilled before guest check in. needed to ask for a shower cap etc. The elevators were a big problem,, 2 out of 4 worked and they were also the service elevators , so after waiting for one to arrive it would come and be full with the cleaning cart. ..everyone was complaining about that and many other things.

Great hotel and great location
- 5/5
Great and clean hotel in a relatively quiet part of the UWS. Close enough to walk to Central park, Times square and subway stations. Breakfast was included however quite disappointing, only coffee and a pastry every morning so very limited choice.
- 3/5
The "free" breakfast was a laugh. We had a choice of 4-5 item's on a elevated platter. All of the other multitude of delicious looking items would cost us. Room was very small but adequate. Housekeeping was great and we never saw them!

Location and bed I rented two rooms from May 1 to May 6, and then extended both stays from May 6 to May 7. For one room, I still have not received my deposit back, while for the other room the deposit was returned on the day of check-out. At this point, I am starting to doubt that I will ever receive the remaining deposit, even though during check-out we were clearly told that we had no outstanding charges and that the deposits would not be charged. What made the situation even more concerning was that the hotel refused to provide any written confirmation regarding the deposited amounts. In addition, only eight hours after check-out, an extra charge of 321 EUR was taken from my account without explanation. Fortunately, I was still nearby and able to intervene immediately, so the money was returned right away. The fact that the funds appeared back in my account instantly clearly shows that refunds can be processed immediately once the hotel releases the deposit. This entire experience caused unnecessary stress and seriously affected my trust in the hotel’s financial practices.

Everyone at the hotel was very friendly and professional. Even the housekeeping staff greeting me every time I walked by them. The lobby is buzzing with activity with a coffee bar and lounge areas. After many trips to NYC staying in Midtown or Lower Manhattan, we opted this time to try out the UWS. So glad we did! The hotel was in a perfect location and we will definitely stay there next time we're back in NYC.

Nice enough hotel, clean and comfortable, easy walking distance to restaurants and the park. Was disappointed and not what I expected. The photos of my "king bed, city view" booking were misleading. My small window looked directly across the street at the side of another building. When I requested another room with the city view per my reservations, I was informed they were full and no action was taken to accommodate my request. Customer service was lacking and when I asked about breakfast that came with my room, I was denied until I provided documented proof the booking included continental breakfast (one coffee and a bagel). The rooftop city view was a mystery too. I was told closed at 6pm, then renovation, then closed for the evening... pending which front desk person you talked too.
- 5/5
Yes! Love the breakfast options at the hotel!

One thing, and it may be just a rarity, or something I could have picked up elsewhere, was bug or bed bug bites. Even saw one bug in my suitcase, miniature in size in my suitcase when I got home, but I can't definitely say that they were coming from the hotel.

The hotel was great, however it is very literally advertised on the website as having a 500 square foot rooftop terrace - which it does not. When we asked the front desk they had no idea what we were talking about. Kind of bummer when having a rooftop accessible to us was one of the reasons we chose this hotel.

Elevators were terrible. Slow and unpredictable.
- 3/5
I was a provided with extra linens, a refrigerator, and a vase upon request. Our room had an excellent view that made up for the cold feeling decor. My room was next to the elevator and I could not escape a constant rumbling sound. The bed was located on the same wall and it was difficult to sleep and relax. It took most my stay to get used to it: Shower lacked water pressure, there was hair in the drain when we checked in, and some sort of lice bug was found in the bed (housekeeping changed sheets and helped fix).

Clean, comfortable room and staff was very helpful. The croissants from the cafe for breakfast were amazing!

The location is amazing for UWS, really like the park nearby and a lot of playgrounds for the kid It feels like the hotel is trying to save money on your stay while affecting your comfort. The bathroom has a motion sensor that turns off quickly - this is absurd, it is impossible to take a shower without needing to reach out with your arm so it doesn't turn off(there is a smaller light which is constant in the shower, but it feels like I shower in hiding. The water pressure is very weak, not something I would expect from such an expensive hotel. and the water temp isn't stable (problematic with kids) the toilet's plumbing keeps on making loud noises randomly
- 5/5
The housekeeping folks were super nice and accommodating!
- 5/5
The Arthouse is one of those places that should remain a secret! The entrance / lobby has more the feeling of a lovely French boutique hotel than what typically is encountered, including enjoying a freshly baked croissant and coffee sitting at a small round table outside. It’s away from the midtown hustle but surrounded by lively restaurants, galleries and in walking distance to the historical museum, Lincoln center, two blocks away from the Hudson River or 3 to Central Park. Enough said: great for solos and couples in romance…
- 5/5
Breakfast was a nice plus …. You can get a latte or pastry included with your room …
- 3/5
Missing tiles in the bathroom, chips in toilet and sink. Large scratches in the walls, white paint on black surfaces, window not fully closed and a cold breeze penetrating the room. No ability to full close. No water pressure in the shower. Overall just kind of a dump for $400. Elevator is quite bumpy and feels like it's slipping. Not a pleasant ride.
- 5/5
comfy bed. clean. nice bathroom. great location the elevators are always a problem.
- 3/5
No to both. We were given a voucher that only allowed us to get a coffee and one type of pastry, although they had many others available. It was like being on a welfare line. For a high end hotel charging five hundred dollars a night, that is unacceptable. When we made the reservation, they said you get a continental breakfast for free. What we got was far from that.
- 3/5
The location is great and the staff are friendly. We booked a junior suite with two queen beds as there were three of us. The size of the room was great but the room, particularly the bathroom, had a very musty, vegetal odor. In one instance we walked in after being out for the afternoon and the odor was overwhelming. We called the front desk and they didn’t offer much help, other than to open the windows. Also the elevators were malfunctioning periodically during our stay. Overall, the hotel was adequate given the choices in the area we needed to stay and our budget.
- 4/5
The hotel is in a perfect location if you are going to a show at The Beacon Theatre! Room was nice but there was an oddly overwhelming smell of bleach in my room, it did subside over the few days I was there butI didn't care for it.
- 4/5
It's nice the the small bar turns into coffee bar with a good selection of food and pastries. Nice midsize lobby/ lounge to hang.
- 4/5
It was a good location, close to both Central Park and theatre. The coffee shop in the lobby was convenient and had delicious pastries/coffee. There were nice sitting areas off the lobby as well.

The hotel was clean and well located to many attractions. The rooms were comfortable and the bed VERY comfortable. I liked that the hotel was attached to the Italian restaurant we chose to go to. I was very disappointed in check in, there was one computer working, the staff didn’t look at you when asking questions, it was hard to hear because the lobby was loud. I liked that they had a small cafe in the hotel BUT it only is open to 11, they ran out of a lot of liquor so drinks were Ltd., no coffee, no sugar for tea, they weren’t serving food anymore because it was after 10. All in all, we had a pleasant trip into the city, the issues that came up didn’t spoil our trip but it was disappointing considering the location and price.
- 4.5/5
Comfortable bed and room, great location and neighborhood. The lobby is welcoming and filled with life. I liked the room, but the pictures were very misleading. The first room they gave me wasn't close to the 260 sq ft promised. I immediately asked for a larger room and received one, but it still didn't look nearly as big or nice as what is shown in the photos. A fridge would have been a nice addition.
- 5/5
Perfect hotel for our visit to Columbia. Well located to the train station and extremely comfortable beds. Hope to be back soon to visit.
- 5/5
The staff was patient helpful knowledgeable and efficient They have a lovely lounge lovby and work area in the heart of the upper west side . Restaurants museums shoppong are steps away. This was an outstanding experience all the way around. I would like to say Vivek a desk clerk stands out ad a phenomenal employee. .

UNFOUNDED FRAUDULENT CHARGES. I am a 50 year old woman from Chicago that stayed at Arthouse Hotel with a friend from April 17-19, 2026. After leaving the hotel, I received a charge for hundreds of dollars for ‘incidentals.’ I promptly contacted the front desk manager and was told it was due to a ‘smoking fine’ on Saturday evening at 7:14pm, when their NoiseAware/Rest AI detector went off. I explained that no one smoked, vaped or lit anything on fire throughout the entirety of our stay. In fact, at 7:14pm on Saturday, we were both blow drying our hair and using hairspray, as well as dry shampoo, getting ready to depart at 7:30pm. No one from the hotel came to our room to investigate or verify this alleged ‘alarm’ on Saturday evening. Furthermore, there was no indication of an ‘alarm’ in our room. The front desk manager informed me that they are standing by their AI ‘smoke detector’ as it detected a ‘change in air quality in our room’ and the charges will not be reversed. I have emailed 5 members of management requesting the ‘alarm report’, as well as a resolution to this unfounded charge. I have not heard back. I have also disputed the charges on my credit card, as well as filed complaints with Federal Trade Commission, NY State Attorney General’s Office, NYC 311, Better Business Bureau and NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection. This hotel has other complaints with the last 2 months for the same issue. This is fraud.

Nice location on the Upper West Side. "City view" really means looking into the office building across the street. Fire station directly across means frequent sirens. Room and. Bathroom have nice modern decor and very clean. No restaurant for a hot breakfast though the cafe has excellent pastries.
- 3.5/5
The hotel is well located, comfortable and has big rooms. The view is great there is plenty to do around I am not happy to see that the hotel debited 12$ out of my credit card without notifying this to me. Apparently this a « suit tax » which was never mentioned and on Booking the price was written including the taxes and fees. I found out about this extra tax by seeing the money out of my credit card and asking an invoice so that’s not super honest
- 5/5
Funky and very efficient and helpful staff Nothing
- 4.5/5
Excellent location.
- 5/5
Always love coming back here. Perfect location and fun hotel. The staff is better lately compared to previous years and the rooms are nice. Can’t beat this location in nyc
- 2/5
There's really only two things a hotel must get right: comfortable beds and hot showers. The shower water is tepid at best. The maintenance personnel stated that they intentionally keeps the hot water turned down to save money! Insane. Also, two (of four) elevators were out of order for two days resulting in long waits for the elevator. We would have been fine taking the stairs but they were locked and our room key would not open them. Stay away!
- 3.5/5
Great location for a family trip Quite old rooms for the price
- 3.5/5
The area was great. Lots of restaurants nearby and transportation is in walking distance No refrigerator and mediocre gym
- 5/5
Nice hotel in a nice neighborhood.
- 5/5
Another spectacular stay.
- 5/5
Always love staying there. Incredible location
- 4/5
only cofee and pastries
- 5/5
In a nut shell if would go back there the next time I travel to the city! Well satisfied with everything they offered and staff was great!
- 4/5
Breakfast food is often stale
- 5/5
Beautiful boutique hotel. Nice bar downstairs
- 4/5
Great location. Clean. Cool lobby & sitting areas. I asked for a quiet room and got exactly that, even in NYC! I would have liked a mini fridge in the room
- 5/5
Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Room and lobby/lounge are well maintained. Great location. Looking forward to my next stay.
- 5/5
Comfortable bed Ok size roommate Check in time is late
- 3/5
Limited selection for breakfast. Room needs refurbishing. Staff should be trained better.
- 2/5
Room was small and loud - staff was rude and not helpful
- 5/5
Fabulous room with deck. We only saw coffee and pastry for breakfast but very nice. Staff was terrific.
- 2/5
The location to The Beacon Theater was great. The toilet was clogged when we got there and despite reporting it, it wasn’t resolved for 24 hours. It was way too long to have a clogged toilet. They said we’d be compensated but haven’t seen anything so far. The room was old. The window shade was broken and very bright in the room.
- 4/5
Everything , except it was a hard and long wait for hot water . it was a hard and long wait for hot water .
- 3/5
The room smelled like cigarettes, no fridge, and the room itself was too small for the price paid, the bathtub looked old) Staff (people that clean/lobby that opened the door/bartenders/waters) were very friendly.
- 2/5
Rude front desk staff, dirty hallways and rooms, no amenities.
- 5/5
Everything is good
- 3.5/5
The bed mattress was to soft I have a bad back
- 2/5
Location Gym door locked. No one cared to check why key card wouldn’t open door. When arrived, they couldn’t find multiple reservations for people and told our party to call Booking.com. They had last name in wrong field. Very rude. Had to show them text from Arthouse confirming our reservation.
- 5/5
Clean room
- 5/5
Complementary pastry amazing. Staff was absolutely fantastic…professional and nice.
- 5/5
Window wouldn’t close tight. Blind pull inoperative in part.
- 2.5/5
Staff was amazing and incredibly helpful. Checking in was seamless. Room was also spacious. Hotel is in a great location for anyone looking to explore New York City. Room needed to have more amenities. There was no garbage bin, no refrigerator or microwave, no shower caps, etc. The side of the toilet was not thoroughly cleaned. The shower water took a while to get warm, did not get hot at all. Also, the elevator can use an upgrade. We didn’t bother to consistently call the front desk as we knew this experience will just be for one night.
- 2/5
We checked into the room and it smelt like here in we complained it came and cleaned it it’s still smelt then we went to another room less superior downsized we asked for a late checkout we went out came back to the room it was clean and then I was charged $200 either for an extra day and we want our refund
- 5/5
There should be more pastry selections available as part of the complementary continental breakfast.
- 5/5
We spent three nights and had a lovely time, entire staff was excellent and took great care of us.
- 5/5
Rooms were nice & clean. Lobby & restaurant areas had an artsy urban vibe. Very nice staff!
- 4/5
Location is great. Staff is friendly. Basic room with king size bed is extremely small.
- 4/5
I enjoyed the bar in the lobby and that is also where breakfast was available. The pastries and coffee were good and again the service was helpful and friendly. The hotel was clean convenient and quality staff. The only downside was the rooms were small, and there were nights that other guests came in late and very loud. They likely enjoyed the bar too much. I don't think there was anything the hotel could have done for that issue. If I were returning, I would gladly stay again and recommend it to friends.
- 5/5
Breakfast was far from stellar, but the staff was kind and for the price, it worked!
- 5/5
Excellent staff and comfortable rooms
- 5/5
Staff were incredibly nice and helpful
- 5/5
Great hotel in a great location.
- 1/5
I’m still shocked that they charged an “urban fee” of $140 for 3 days. Totally unacceptable!
- 4/5
Very close to Logan express Framingham. Had a great meal at hotel bar.
- 3/5
The room was microscopic and there were paint specs everywhere. It seemed like they rushed to finish these rooms. For this price I would have expected better appointments as well.
- 4/5
The location is wonderful and the staff was extremely helpful and pleasant. We did notice a few small things that were a bit of an inconvenience, no mini-fridge upon arrival, in-room safe was not operating, no side table between the two chairs in the room. All in all, though it was a great stay and we would come back.
- 5/5
The coffe shop served stale baked goods
- 5/5
Love this hotel. It’s our go-to on the UWS whenever in NYC!
- 5/5
This place was solid af!!! Definitely a New Yorkers hotel. Great location great staff nice bar super clean. I might make my standard for New York from now on.
- 5/5
We stay here every time we come to NY. We love it!
- 5/5
We had a great stay at the Arthouse Hotel. Welcoming staff. Clean rooms. Great bar. Great Bartender! Lovely continental breakfast available. Great location. Can’t wait to go back!
- 5/5
Clean rooms, free breakfast pastry and coffee in the morning, and lovely staff!
- 5/5
Great stay and great location. Nice lobby bar.
- 4/5
Convenient location. Room was a generous size and very comfortable.
- 4/5
Wish there were fridges in all of the rooms. Front desk were super polite and helpful.
- 5/5
Been enjoying this hotel since 2008. Can’t beat this location and the rooms are nice. Always recommended
- 4/5
When we checked in we were given an upgrade which turned out to be a down grade, and the bathroom bath tissue holder was loose from the wall, and the electric outlet did not work. Staff was friendly and helpful after the initial disappointments.
- 4/5
Great location. Staff helpful and friendly
- 5/5
Everything that I needed for my stay was met from the cleanliness and the staff that gave us a chauffeur ride to the airport. Not to mention the incredible coffee and bakery they have right in the hotel lobby! A true New York experience.
- 4/5
White attached to an Italian restaurant , food choices are limited. The staff was wonderful and attentive. Hotel is definitely pet friendly.
- 4/5
Would stay again
- 3/5
The staff really push their flat-rate car service, and declining it can be uncomfortable. When I asked a staff member of the hotel for help hailing a cab, the cab driver with Curb said he was told I wanted a flat rate. I did not want a flat rate. I needed a metered cab, but I was stuck with a flat-rate cab ride to the airport. I won’t soon forget being mistreated like that.
- 5/5
Clean room, friendly staff and food was great. Loved the location.
- 5/5
All the staff were very friendly. There was plenty of places to sit and relax in the lobby/bar area.
- 5/5
Friendly staff, clean property
- 5/5
Great neighborhood
- 5/5
Nice place . Well located couple blocks from central park
- 5/5
Really enjoyed staying at the Arthouse Hotel. Staff was amazing and service-focused. Centrally located for all our needs.
- 5/5
We were in NYC for an overnight visit. The room was clean, quiet and the bed was comfortable. We know the neighborhood well as we used to live there.
- 4/5
This hotel is in an ideal location for anyone wanting to stay on the upper west side. I found the beds quite comfortable because they're slightly softer than the typical hotel. The HVAC rattled a lot and the sound of other people's doors opening/closing was also noisy.
- 5/5
Excellent place
- 5/5
Solid spacious room. Clean and great location

We love this hotel. In a perfect location, such a quaint spot!

Everyone is super friendly! Right in the heart of the UWS, bars, restaurants, delis, shopping, surround the hotel. CVS right across the street. Very safe. Highly recommend.

Excellent location near transportation, shops and restaurants. Very friendly and helpful staff.

There was no heat for the first 5-6 hours and sheets weren’t the cleanest

Very comfortable clean room. Very friendly helpful staff.
- 5/5
Staff was excellent. Entrance area has a great style. Very well located.
- 5/5
Great place all around
- 5/5
I’ve stayed there several times. The rooms and the staff were great.
- 5/5
Cleanliness. Friendly staff. Great location for our itinerary.
- 5/5
Everything!
- 3/5
We used hotel mainly as a place to sleep after a late night out, we didnt use any other amenities, bar or restaurant. It was in good location. Room was small with tiny window. Not many places to put stuff on. The bathroom was ok, looked a bit old but clean, didnt really interact with much staff other than a very quick and easy check in.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel, gracious staff, will definitely stay again!
- 5/5
I love everything about this hotel.
- 5/5
Great hotel! Fantastic location. Very, very nice staff. Excellent housekeeping. Room was clean and comfortable. Definitely recommend and look forward to returning. Cafe/bar in lobby was a plus since it was very cold outside. Room deal came with a coffee and pastry each morning. Just perfect to start your day…
- 5/5
Perfect upper west side location. Walk to the park, entertainment, restaurants and groceries. Staff was attentive. Room was clean and spacious with a bright view of the wide ave yea and local architecture.

Hip boutique hotel with an industrial cozy vibe. Rooms are sumple but have everything you need. The libby bar and cafe are nice. Attached to Serafina restaurant. Great lication overall and parking across the street.
- 5/5
Room was spotless, the staff was so gracious and helpful. The room service was delicious and arrived promptly and hot!! Will absolutely be visiting again.
- 1/5
Cockroach in kitchen, had to ask after two days where my free breakfast was. Staff does not care that you are a guest. Incredibly rude and awful experience.

Loved the bar. So hospitable.

Spotless room (and warm, given the freezing temperatures outside). Excellent staff from check in to arranging transportation. Nice bar and breakfast / coffee amenity.
- 5/5
Staff, cleanliness and amenities. All great!
- 4/5
I just wish I’d thought to ask for more coffee as I’m sure it wouldn’t have been a problem! Comfy bed, lovely linens, tho even though I chose to upgrade the room it was still pretty small….errrr “cozy!” Nice cafe and tempting pastries! Would definitely stay at ArtHouse again.
- 2/5
Service
- 4/5
Staff was lovely but rooms had a few quirks that required multiple changes. Blinds are operated with a chain that doesn’t work well and on site “engineers” are unable to fix them. Some beds were fine but others need replacing. I changed rooms 3 times during my 4 night stay but they were very accommodating.
- 1/5
The water pressure was awful—so weak that you can barely rinse soap off. We politely asked customer service three times to check it. Each time they told us it was “fixed” or “checked,” but nothing changed. It honestly felt like they didn’t care and didn’t want to solve the problem or help at all. Another downside: there’s no fridge in the room unless you request one, which should be standard at this price point. Cleanliness also wasn’t great—the room wasn’t as clean as it should be for what you pay. Breakfast was also misleading. It’s advertised as “complimentary for $15,” but it’s basically just one coffee plus one croissant or one bagel, nothing more. On top of that, you have to wait in a long line—at least 30 minutes—so don’t expect a real breakfast experience. The only positive is the location, which is great—but only if you’re using the hotel strictly as a place to sleep. Otherwise, I don’t recommend it, and I definitely won’t be returning.
- 5/5
We had a wonderful stay at the Arthouse! Great clean spacious room, bar/coffee shop in the lobby, yummy restaurant right next store. Super convient for a show at the Beacon Theatre. I will definitely be back!
- 5/5
fast checkin. courteous staff. lovely room.
- 5/5
That said , I enjoyed my 2nights. It did the job.
- 5/5
Room was clean and acutally quite spacious for NYC and staff were courteous. Will definitely go back.
- 2/5
The room wasn't the one that was advertised and the staff was extremely unprofessional
- 2/5
Had to ask the front desk multiple times for help that never came. Cleaning staff tried to enter our room before the standard checkout time. Pretty hotel. staff needs work.
- 5/5
Room was clean, bed was very comfortable. Our view was of an outside wall, but I was rarely in the room. Neighborhood was quiet. I would stay here again.
- 5/5
Room was clean, great staff, enjoyed my stay
- 4/5
Location is great! Easy access to the subway, close to restaurants and shops, peaceful neighborhood atmosphere.
- 4/5
A good UWS option, rooms starting to get a little tired but remains an upscale hotel with quaint rooms, comfortable beds and quiet at night lodging.
- 5/5
Great staff. My room was cleaned every day despite my irregular schedule and late starts.
- 3/5
Small room and not a lot of storage space. No microwave or refrigerator.
- 5/5
The Arthouse was the perfect hotel for our trip. Close to many restaurants and cafes. 2 blocks from the 1 train which will take you directly downtown. Only 2 blocks from Central Park!
- 5/5
Staff is incredibly helpful and pleasant, beautiful room, comfortable bed
- 5/5
Comfortable bed and pillows
- 5/5
We will be back
- 2/5
Everything else was not up to standard of a 4-star hotel. First, the room--as others have said, the actual room does not reflect the pictures online--not a single area. The appointments across the hotel are dated and dingy. The ceiling in the hallways seemed to be plastered, but not painted. The walls are smudged/stained. Cheap furniture (not even Ikea quality) in the rooms and contact paper on the walls to imitate brick. Second, the bathroom--at first glance felt "high-class" and then you look closer and you see the ceiling is actually falling in. As other have said, water is tepid at best. We had to run the hot water for several minutes for it to actually get warm enough to wash our faces. Third, as other have said, we had three windows in our room, but no natural light as each window was facing the wall of another building. And the lights in the room weren't great, so the room was very dim overeall. Fourth, they did not clean our room, just remade the bed and gave us new towels (which were very fluffy) and emptied the trash. The bathroom surfaces were not wiped. And empty wine glasses were left on ledges in the hallway for several days--so I was left with the impression that the cleaning staff is not attentive at all.

Best location, cutest lobby. Great staff. Right on the 1/Broadway subway line. So convenient!

Room was clean and comfortable. The staff very friendly and helpful location was great for our visit with lots around us to walk to and see. I would come back again.

1) Breakfast: A free continental breakfast is not offered. Instead, you are provided with coupons that can be redeemed in the hotel coffee shop in the lobby. The selection is extremely limited (black coffee, tea, simple bagel with cream cheese or a plain or chocolate croissant). Nothing that resembles a continental breakfast. 2) Bed size: while we booked a room with a queen bed, the room we got had a full/double bed (we measured with a ruler - it was not 60 inch but closer to 54 inch). We asked to switch rooms but the new room also had a bed that wasn't a queen bed. 3) No free wifi: While the listing mentions free wifi, the hotel lists wifi as one of the reasons for charging an extra "Urban fee". So either the wifi is free and the urban fee is just a cash grab or the wifi isn't actually free. 4) There was no fridge in our room when we checked it. It was added on our third day (Without us asking). 5) No upgrades: Despite our Expedia status, we were not offered any upgrades and when asked about such upgrades were told that non are available (not even a water bottle). 6) Check-in: Process was very slow, including due to the fact that the receptionist had to fill out the breakfast coupons by hand for our entire stay (20 coupons in total).

Good
- 4/5
They called later after we had taken showers.
- 5/5
Clean room. Nice location.
- 3/5
It didn't feel 4 star. It was more like a 3 or 2 going based off my room. The restaurant and cafe downstairs definitely helped to elevate the experience. The room is by far average. Staff was friendly, and the location is perfect for what we needed. We wanted to be off Broadway and near central park, so this was perfect for us.
- 5/5
We had a great one night stay at the ArtHouse. We appreciated the staff’s effort to get us two rooms across the hall from each other (perfect for our family of four). Rooms were decent size for NY and lobby was cozy and welcoming.
- 3/5
Shower smelled
- 5/5
Great location, helpful staff, good sized room
- 5/5
Would've preferred a room with a view, but not sure if I might've needed to pay extra for that. I would like to have had a microwave and refrigerator. I guess we could've requested the latter, but we didn't bother. I understand these things tend to be more prevalent in budget hotels, and not so much in higher-end properties. We are only from Brooklyn, so this was kind of a staycation, but we would do it again. Perhaps next time after one of the many concerts we attend at the Beacon Theatre.
- 5/5
The room was clean and ready early. All the staff was friendly and we loved the vibe of the bar/cafe downstairs
- 5/5
We have stayed at the Arthouse hotel multiple times for our frequent trips to NY. We love the cozy lobby and bar area. The rooms are simple but clean and comfortable. During the summer there is a gorgeous terrace to chill on. There are tons of restaurants and great shopping just a few blocks away on Amsterdam and Columbus and two convenient train and bus stops nearby. The UWS is the best neighborhood in NY and the Arthouse Hotel is a great place to experience it!
- 4/5
Good location.
- 1/5
The hotel listing on Expedia shows beautiful, modern photos, but the actual room was nothing like what was advertised. The room looked worn, outdated, and clearly not in the condition shown online. There was also no disclosure that the windows could face a wall just a few feet away. In our case, the windows faced a wall only a couple of feet away, resulting in no natural light. This is a significant detail that should be clearly stated before booking. The bathroom was in poor condition as well—the ceiling had visible holes and sagging plastic panels, which appeared unfinished and unappealing. When we raised these concerns, the manager was extremely rude and unprofessional. Instead of addressing the issues or offering solutions, she spoke dismissively and essentially told us, “We’ll refund you, you can leave and stay wherever you want.” This was especially upsetting as we had just arrived, were tired from traveling, and expected at least basic customer service. The final straw happened at checkout, when the hotel charged nearly $600 for an alleged smoking fee. We do not smoke or vape at all. Despite this, the charge was placed on our card, and I had to spend significant time, energy, and stress proving that we did not smoke in the room in order to get the money back.
- 5/5
Fantastic place to stay and was super convenient to the train station, plus is was away from the crowds and had great places to eat close by. Will definitely stay there the next time we visit NYC
- 5/5
We had a wonderful stay here! The location was perfect, the room had everything we needed, the view was beautiful, and that staff was attentive. Would absolutely stay here again.
- 5/5
Great location
- 4/5
Room was v clean and spacious. Disappointed that city view was actually a view of the other side of the street.
- 5/5
We didn’t eat breakfast. Our room was wonderful and staff could not have been nicer. We will definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
We won’t stay anywhere else on the Upper West Side. Great room. Great gym. Wonderful staff. Great lobby. Really nice art in the lobby. Can’t wait to come back.
- 2/5
Dirty room, noisy air conditioning very loud we couldn’t sleep, they charged us 45 US dollars for room service when we checked out. They didn’t told us anything about extra payment in the beginning. Very disappointed
- 5/5
Clean room. Great water pressure in the shower. Perfect location. Very friendly staff.
- 5/5
Great location and lobby. Rooms are spacious (for NYC), and comfortable. Service was great. Highly recommend.

Expedia is the worst
- 5/5
Excellent location near the Beacon Theater and The Met. Nice bar. Very clean and staff very helpful. Highly recommend!
- 5/5
Felt like safe neighbourhood
- 2/5
Rooms are incredibly small and elevators are always broken.
- 2/5
The room was dusty, dirty and stains on doors and wallpaper. Room was super beat up. Furniture was especially old and worn
- 5/5
It was a great place to stay. The staff was very helpful and the room was great.
- 4/5
Hotel has a lovely feel and looks beautiful
- 5/5
Had some issues with the heat not working. Management tried to correct the problem without delay. After the problem was unable to be resolved we were offered another room. The rooms were very clean and comfortable.
- 5/5
Excellent hotel the only thing I would recommend to ask for a newly renovated room. The old rooms are a little outdated but if you can stay in a new renovated room, then the hotel is fabulous location. Everything is great.
- 5/5
I stayed at this hotel for 5 days and my experience was excellent. The staff were very friendly, the facilities were always clean and comfortable, and the location was perfect for getting around the area. I would definitely come back. Highly recommended.
- 3/5
There was a noisy baby in a room near to mine. I work at the hotel cannot control that, but it did Prevent me from getting a good nights sleep. The light in the bathroom was on a timer and would go off after about 60 seconds, which was very annoying while I was showering, etc. Also unsatisfactory.
- 5/5
Clean rooms,
- 3/5
Very disappointed in this hotel. As a “VIP” I was to receive early check in and/or an upgrade if available - neither was available. I did receive a regular coffee or plain croissant in the morning but you had to pay extra for a latte or other pastry. The room was a good size but the bathroom had mold. The maid service failed to replace our wash cloths. The HVAC was loud. They have 4 elevators and one was out - this made for very crowded elevators and long wait times.
- 5/5
Lovely hotel great croissants wonderful staff
- 5/5
Excellent location. Very clean. Excellent mattress and bedding. Spacious bathroom. Room was large for NYC. Price is excellent.
- 3/5
We did not have a balcony. Toilet leaked and Breakfast was the choice between a bagel or muffin. Not what I paid for. Very disappointed in the room. Check in with the first lady was a nightmare then the manager helped us, and she was very nice. Elevators were not working at all times.
- 5/5
Second time staying here and have lived it both times. Staff is fantastic and the restaurant and neighborhood offerings are fantastic.
- 5/5
Great stay! Lovely staff, super comfy beds, and love the lobby atmosphere. I’d definitely book again.
- 4/5
Great location; wonderful lounge and bar area. Rooms are clean. However…. gym equipment is old—rusty, squeaky and in one case, the seat was ripped up so much that the bike was unusable. (I mention this b/c they tout their fitness center.) Staff was helpful.. unless you needed to break a 20 or the like… in one case, another guest had to help do this!
- 4/5
Clean spacious room, quick check in. Really quiet during the night.
- 5/5
Staff was courteus and helpful
- 5/5
Balcony was incredible!
- 5/5
Popular, upscale, convenient, quiet though busy area.
- 5/5
We've stayed at the Arthouse 5 times now, and been happy every time. The staff is friendly and helpful, and always go out of their way to make things special. Love that you can get coffee and a bagel downstairs for breakfast. They also have live music on the weekends to enjoy with cocktails in the downstairs bar.
- 5/5
Great!
- 3/5
Room booked was very basic and not as described. Reception less than helpful- they do the minimum. Free continental breakfast was restricted to one type of pastry and drip coffee only. Andrea behind the bar was excellent and saved my birthday stay from being very mediocre. Very good location.
- 3/5
Room, amenities, appliances. Pictures look better than actual room and hotel. Staff was great!
- 5/5
Love this place stay often !!
- 2/5
The reception was dismissive the room was bland and tiny and the amenities were non-existent. The only attentive and polite people were the cleaning staff.
- 5/5
Always stay here and plan to continue- five star
- 5/5
It was great
- 5/5
Asked for a minifridge and they had one delivered in 5 minutes. Easy access to the park and local venues. Parking across the street. Highly recomended!
- 3/5
They make you pay $150 for incidentals and that’s absurd.
- 3/5
The stay was okay. Wanted to get a shower last night after day out and the hot water in the shower never got hot.
- 5/5
Great location, lovely athmospere, great restaurant, good jazz in the evening, cosy rooms. Simply loved it!
- 5/5
Will stay again!
- 3/5
The $150 security deposit for a one night stay was insulting.
- 5/5
Small but it’s all you need Great lobby bar sitting area Covenient to everything Had a wonderful time
- 5/5
Second stay at this hotel. Plan to continue to stay more. Front desk staff friendly and efficient.
- 5/5
Staff was very accommodating
- 3/5
Tiny bathrooms. Dated elevators and poor drafty windows. Noisy on the broadway side
- 4/5
Bathroom needs a bit of updating. Enjoyed the coffee bar. Looking forward to returning.
- 5/5
Very nice
- 5/5
the room was very clean staff were very helpful We will come back again
- 4/5
The staff were very friendly and were wonderful. They did have an option to store my bag prior to check-in which was a bonus. Room and bathroom was clean. The only downfall was the water for the toilet constantly ran all night and the fan for the ac/heater was loud when it would turn off and on.
- 5/5
Great location, courteous staff.
- 5/5
Would definitely be back.
- 5/5
Convenient location. Nice atmosphere and staff
- 5/5
Very clean
- 5/5
Great job to all !
- 4/5
I could not get coffee or pastries- because I lost my voucher and the reception was crawded a lot of wedding season guests.Small reception for all and the lights kept turning on and off
- 5/5
Breakfast was great but we paid for it
- 4/5
Our bathroom did not have a fan. (I guess I think of that as standard.) And the shower door did not shut all the way, leaving a 1inch gap. Had to make sure the shower head was all the way to the wall so as not to get water on the floor. We did not bring this to the staff's attention because we did not want to be inconvenienced with the repair or having to move rooms. We were in 923.
- 3/5
The bathroom was exceptionally small and below standard as far as amenities. The greatest frustration was the inadequate elevators. One set not working at all and the working ones were a ten minute wait almost everytime because they are so small.
- 5/5
Good room, convenient, nice staff.
- 4/5
Small, but adequate gym. Room spacious for NY. Excellent bar in the lobby.
- 4/5
Really enjoyed our overnight stay.
- 5/5
Great room! Staff was very helpful.
- 2/5
But: I was overcharged at check-in on the 150$/day hold on my credit card of close to 1k when I was told later the max was 500$ The Elevator banks were both not operating fully for the first 3 days of my stay - and are old and rattling The staff seemed to gather on my floor and their yelling across the hall about sheets etc. the staff works for two days on replacing a malfunctioning lock on the room next door and one had to contend with construction noise as well as loud conversation. In general thin walls and noisy Large though dead cockroaches found in the the room on two consecutive days A parcel was neither delivered to my room nor was I notified of its arrival I was charged 100 as an early check in fee after arriving but not given coupons for complimentary continental breakfast. The night and day managers were cordial and reduced the charge for the room to compensate NB : Expedia lists total price inclusive of taxes and fees. It was surprising then to have a daily “urban fee” of 45+ added to the bill. Expedia should clarify this. (It is found in an explanation of fees in a link - but total cost as advertised should include this )
- 5/5
Great location, clean room, very attentive staff. The room with the patio had amazing views.
- 4/5
Clean, quiet, comfortable!!
- 4/5
The staff were professional and friendly. The loft room was a good size for NYC standards The UWS is lovely. Although cleanliness was good it could have been better.
- 2/5
This was a disappointing stay. When I walked in my room, it had a terrible odor--I believe it was likely from mildew. My room also did not have a mini fridge or a chair for the desk. The TV was dated and had no plug for my firestick to watch things like Netflix etc. The staff was friendly and the bed was comfortable, but for over $500/night I would expect at least a chair, a clean smelling room and a mini fridge.
- 4/5
The room was very quiet. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
Yes
- 5/5
I stay in a lot of hotels for work and family trips and this is the first hotel I felt had not just good, but great lighting. While the space was somewhat small, as to be expected with a NYC hotel it was well laid out and felt clean. I would stay at this property again in the future.
- 5/5
Check in was great.
- 5/5
Great place to stay for easy access to the Beacon Theater. The room was basic, but there’s a nice restaurant next door and a coffee shop downstairs that was great for a quick bite. This is a very clean hotel with friendly staff. Would return.
- 5/5
Great view! Room was comfortable. Lobby cafe and bar was fun, morning and night.
- 5/5
Room was HUGE. The hotel vibe was cool. The location is excellent. I’ll definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Beautiful lobby for relaxing or gathering
- 2/5
Very noisy due to traffic . Sink clogged , phone in the room was out of out of order. Front desk staff was rude and unfriendly.
- 3/5
Room slightly scruffy, paint on floor from where its been decorated, bathroom looked outdated and very low water pressure from the shower - lobby area and cafe area were great and staff were great throughout our stay
- 5/5
Boutique hotel, welll located on uws. We appreciated the coffee and some breakfast items were available in their lobby. They have a little happy hour and 5 to 7 also in the lobby. The room was modern and clean, nothing remarkable but nice. The room could’ve used a little more light. Well priced for Nyc
- 5/5
Really liked the hotel. There was a bar with live music some of the nights. You could get breakfast at a small cafe in the hotel, but we didn’t. Great location, 2 blocks to Zabar’s!
- 1/5
They sent me to a room that was occupied! The room was very dirty with hair in the bathroom. I wouldn't not suggest this hotel.
- 4/5
Staff was very nice, good location
- 5/5
The room was clean and very quiet, and the bed was super comfortable. I got a city view king room and my view was beautiful!
- 4/5
Good room! Elevators didn’t always work and staff didn’t tell us special key card needed for the gym- even though I asked about the gym. But a good stay.
- 5/5
the rooms and public spaces were excellent, and the staff was also.
- 4/5
Great location and great vibes, minor issues with room phone and drain in bathroom
- 5/5

- 5/5
CLEAN EDDICIKENT EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE
- 5/5
Super location on the Upper West Side. Great in-house café. Near great shops, restaurants and subway. Large rooms and comfy baths at this price point. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to friends and family.
- 5/5
We always stay at Arthouse when in nyc. The free breakfast is a nice bonus.
- 5/5
The room was comfortable and clean. The staff was so friendly, courteous and helpful. Location to subways and sights is superb. Clean quiet neighborhood...I will return 🌻
- 4/5
Well situated lovely staff rooms a bit Spartan beds really comfortable
- 5/5
Stylish hotel. Friendly staff.
- 5/5
Excellent location, cool vibe, great staff. Loved the lobby coffee shop/bar with live music.
- 4/5
Clean rooms, under some renovations, great restaurant with access from the hotel. Staff was friendly and helpful. Perfect location for upper west side. Easy to catch a taxi or uber. Recommend.
- 4/5

- 4/5
Staff very nice, location perfect, rooms immaculate, beds comfortable. You must ask for extra amenities as they have robes, and slippers. You may also get a refrigerator. I think that is wise as it cuts down on extra laundry regarding robes etc.. and I can only imagine the hassle of keeping up 400 plus refrigerators. I like the fact that you can go down in the am and purchase coffee and baked goods. I would rebook there
- 3/5
On the city side 1 of the elevators wasn’t working. Usually there are make up wipes in the bathroom. There weren’t any. Otherwise, it is my hotel of choice when I’m in the city.
- 5/5
Happy Halloween!
- 5/5
The room was spotless and the staff could not have been nicer!! Very friendly and very responsive.
- 4/5
Clean, quiet. Good size space.
- 5/5
Great location on the West Side, convenient to the park, Museum of Natural History and Lincoln Center. Friendly staff, cozy common area and delicious breakfast at their cafe.
- 3/5
Location is amazing and rooms were nice but the lobby needs a bit of work and the elevator was a bit creeky
- 5/5
The Arthouse is a nice neighborhood boutique hotel close to everything in the west side. Very comfortable, nice lobby which is both a cafe and a bar with live music. It's a fun place to stay while enjoying the city.
- 4/5
Clean
- 5/5
Beautiful and relaxing. Loved the location.
- 5/5
Perfect stay!
- 5/5
Very cozy and comfortable
- 5/5
Great location, spacious room, nice balcony
- 5/5
Beautiful view of the river from the balcony, sleek interior design. Fun and stylish bar/ restaurant / lobby area. Bellhops were very friendly and helpful. Check in went smoothly but I was surprised to realize that the $150 incidentals/deposit was per DAY, not per stay. The room was clean overall but there were sticky handprints (visible to the eye) all over the bathroom door and one of the pillows smelled like dirty hair. Only got half a roll of toilet paper for two days. Bed was super comfortable though. One of the elevators shook to a frightening degree every time so hopefully they fix that. I would probably stay here again, hopefully after elevators have been repaired.
- 4/5
Service was excellent, staff was friendly and helpful, and room was cleaned, bed made, and linens changed daily. Breakfast pastry was too limited, and could not substitute a pastry for a drink. Need more drawers or shelves to put away belongings.
- 3/5
Noisy. Ok for cleanliness.
- 4/5
Clean room. Soft beds, quiet for NYC. Central Park, subway, and multiple shopping and dining options are a short walk away. One of the four small elevators were not working causing occasional long wait times. Water pressure was underwhelming- otherwise very happy with my stay.
- 5/5
Great 4 nights in NYC! Great hotel as we attended a concert at The Beacon Theater! Very convenient and friendly area for walks, dining, etc., will definitely stay here again!
- 5/5
Nice and quiet. Convenient location.
- 3/5
OK stay- would not stay again. Lobby was nice, room had Ikea-grade furniture. No room fridge despite a spot for it. Comes on request only, but after requested didn't come till the next day, and wouldn't fit in compartment, so took up space in already small room. Tiles in bathroom damaged, tub scratched, window curtain stuck. VIP continental breakfast for 2 was just a voucher for a croissant and regular coffee- selection of what was allowed was limited. Just felt like the hotel was cutting corners wherever possible. Not worth the money paid.
- 5/5
Na
- 3/5
Also there is a lack of lights and outlets in the room. We asked for another lamp, but it didn't do much. The staff was nice, but the room isn't equipped to host guests. Cutouts for safety units i.e. sprinklers looked temporary and not finished grade. Not what to expect of a nice hotel.
- 4/5
Amazing Manager, her name is Fatoumata Trawarch! She made us feel like home! We arrived late and our room was full of hair everywhere. We were extremely tired so I started cleaning myself just to be able to take a shower and relax. The next morning we spoke to the Manager and her reaction was professional in a way that you don't see these days. She immediately suggested practical solutions in such a professional manner and she is extremely nice and friendly as well. Our room was small but renovated and the location is walkable, close to restaurants, Central Park, subway etc. I am from LA and have been to NYC multiple times. This hotel is great if you look at the price-performance ratio plus the renovated and new room and bathroom. I can totally recommend it.
- 2/5
The room was not like picture - much smaller and according the manager redone. Leaking ceiling above hall, dirty old tub, moldy stuff in shower wall, Wi-Fi was sporadic, no fan in bathroom so constantly steamy, no robes no slippers no mini fridge. One elevator was out so lots of backup. Crappy shower with old tub. For the price I could have stayed at the Wallace which I regret not doing.
- 5/5
we enjoyed staying at the hotel very much
- 4/5
A good location. Great staff.
- 5/5
Nice to have our own thermostat so we could control the temp in our room.
- 2/5
However, nice people at the reception trying their best to accommodate the anger and disappointment of the clients. Not recommended.
- 4/5
The staff was very friendly and very helpful.
- 3/5
Remodeling in process. This was not mentioned upon booking. Also I chose this hotel because of the outdoor space and that was not accessible. It was blocked off due to repairs. The balcony area was uncapped the entire hotel looks like it’s under construction and definitely not worth the cost. I feel like we could’ve stayed in a much nicer hotel with the fee. We paid for one night
- 5/5
I had an emergency and needed a room for the night quickly! I was able to book super fast, my room was exceptional. Clean and comfy bed! Bathroom was great and the room was extremely quiet! I didnt hear anything from outside which was surprising giving that its in such a busy area! Will definitely stay again!!
- 4/5
Serafina restaurant is accessible from the lobby, great food and service. The hotel is not the quietest, being near Broadway. Also, lot of door slamming. All in all, fair value for Manhattan upper west side.
- 3/5
The receptionist on arrival had a terrible attitude.
- 2/5
The room overall was dirty. The door had a large crack in it which had light come through and the hallway was so loud with the cleaning crew from 7am - 8 or 9pm. For the money it really isn’t worth it. The room feels very cheap and really wasn’t clean which is a big thing.
- 5/5
Nonview brick walls. Staff
- 1/5
No hot water. Needed to switch rooms.
- 2/5
Cold showers for several days. Staff just continued to say “we are aware and working on it.”
- 5/5
Yes there were shops! And the internet was good!
- 5/5
great location, room was clean, staff was friendly and helpful.
- 4/5
The property has been renovated recently. However, the faucet in the bathroom was loose and wiggled. The drain was very slow in the sink. There was nowhere to put your toiletries as a shelf did not exist in the bathroom
- 3/5
I was disappointed with the resort fee for no reason. No refrigerator, a bit of a small room.
- 5/5
Staff was helpful & efficient!
- 4/5
Great stay. Second time at this property and it’s a great location, clean and friendly staff
- 4/5
I loved almost everything about this hotel. It’s cleanliness, staff, bar/restaurant, and location. The one and only complaint was the mattress. Room 510 had a king mattress with a king size sink hole in the center of it. The management really needs to swap it out for a new mattress.
- 5/5
Shops and restaurants very nearby. Central Park a short walk. Excellent hotel and excellent location.
- 5/5
Nice, centrally located. Book a room with a terrace! The terrace is very large and beautiful!
- 5/5
Great location and atmosphere
- 5/5
Comfy place!
- 5/5
Excellent hotel. Great location in UWS. Walkability to restaurants, bars, subway outstanding. Staff took care of all requests (such as fresh bed sheets, holding luggage on getaway day). Rooms are tad small. Heard some neighbors late night once). Otherwise, great stay and I’ll be back.
- 1/5
I will never stay at this hotel again. They have no vending machines...not even an ice machine. And the staff I encountered was rude. This was my first time visitng New York City and I plan on returning - but not to Arthouse Hotel!
- 2/5
Okay
- 3/5
Elevators are slow, rooms look at a brick wall, WiFi doesn’t work but they have a mandatory charge of $40/day for it.
- 5/5
Delightful hotel with newly renovated rooms and a very nice lobby area with a lounge/library, bar, breakfast bar and sitting area. Small but adequate fitness center. Serafina restaurant opens into hotel for evening dining. Close to Zabars and Fairway and loads of local shops on Broadway and Amsterdam. Amsterdam from 79th to 96th is full of great restaurants and local bars. Heart of the Upper Westside.
- 4/5
Comfortable well appointed rooms. Floor was not vaccuumed day to day so with a toddler that was a bummer, but okay. Extremely slow elevators and mediocre internet. Very spacious though. Would stay again, but would not work for every traveler.
- 5/5
This was an excellent choice. The Arthouse is in a great area, close to the subway
- 5/5
Everything was great. Wonderful location
- 4/5
Parking was not offered and very expensive at a garage across the street
- 3/5
Location was the best part about this hotel. Room was large, but nothing special. Shower sputtered when trying to warm up and took several minutes to reach an appropriate temperature. Upon arrival, front desk staff tolerated us at best. Certainly not a warm welcome to NYC when traveling from out of town. Live music and speak easy style bar was lovely after hours.
- 2/5
Hotel is definitely dated. Lobby bar and lounge are cute but that’s about it. Rooms are very, very dated and dusty and the value relative to what I paid was not there. Elevators super slow (think waiting over 10 minutes every time), bathrooms have cheap fabric shower curtains, ikea grade furniture in the bedroom. None of it was good enough for an over $500 a night. Granted I visited during climate week so assuming the regular rate is 20% of that. If that’s the case, then yes, book for budget value *not* for a nice stay.
- 5/5
This hotel was absolutely wonderful! Great location with easy access to subway stations, restaurants, and shopping. The staff was very courteous and the room was very nice! We had a small issue with our room, but the hotel manager (Fatima), along with Kristy and Mercedes made it right and then some! We will definitely be back!!
- 5/5
quick and simple check in, very cozy
- 5/5
Centrally located
- 5/5
The Art House was fantastic! Great Upper West Side neighborhood with awesome restaurants in the area. We would stay there again visiting NYC!
- 5/5
Wifi was somewhat spotty for video calls, but overall great hotel.
- 5/5
Hotel was great, I really liked having a terrace in our room. It was super easy to get to Central Park and the American Museum of Natural History as well as the Met. Many food options in the area, neighborhood was very cool.
- 5/5
Location was excellent. Restaurants, shopping. transportation all nearby. Staff very helpful including help with luggage.
- 3/5
A $40 per night resort fee was charged at check-in
- 4/5
The rooms are actually very basic at check in they gave us a room that unfortunately was not very well inspected by housekeeping we found a cockroach on the floor to me that’s not acceptable for the amount of money paid for the room. The front desk staff very polite and nice . Shower head not much of a water pressure. All in all a good stay lastly the location is excellent a true manhattan neighborhood without being in the middle of all the touristic action
- 5/5
Fun vibes.
- 5/5
Great staff
- 5/5
The shower was superb
- 5/5
Bathroom was teeny tiny which was really my only gripe. This is not unusual for NYC, so not a real problem. Bed was comfy and hotel had a lovely bar downstairs. Overall a very nice stay!
- 4/5
Appreciated the complimentary breakfast through Expedia, but it was just a bagle with cream cheese and coffee.
- 5/5
Staff friendly, the location perfect and very quiet rooms
- 5/5
A great hotel on the Upper West Side. I have been staying here for the past few years when I come to New York. It’s close to a subway stop, next to 2 restaurants & has a lovely cafe on the first floor. The staff & service are top notch.
- 5/5
Excellent. Heavily recommend.
- 5/5
Room was alright, nothing luxe, but the lobby amenities made up for it - lounge, cafe, bar area.
- 5/5
Staff was very nice and helpful
- 5/5
Fantastic location for restaurants, park and subway. Lobby is great to hang out. Rooms are basic. Staff is great.
- 1/5
The mirror in my unit still clearly looked like someone sneezed on it and it wasn't cleaned. My plumbing leaked and the toilet would run constantly; reported it to the front desk but it was never fixed over multiple nights.
- 5/5
Perfect location! We loved the live jazz music.
- 5/5
Parking not easy
- 3/5
The hotel has no amenities.
- 5/5
Going through renovation but details such caulking and fitting are neglected and need attention. I liked my stay and would come again for the ambiance, lobby, bistro and smiling faces.
- 5/5
Nice hotel to spend the night.
- 5/5
It was great
- 5/5
Fantastic hotel and great staff
- 4/5
Good
- 5/5
We could not have selected a better place for quality, price, location, amenities etc. We thought there were excellent options to eat nearby, close to subway which is a super convenient option and we thought clean. We also felt very safe in the area. Would return here again! We had a corner room and LOVED it. Thank you!
- 5/5
Nice hotel in UWS.
- 5/5
Property is pretty good.. stayed here more than a few times so far...the only thing I have noticed in this trip is that we got our suite facing the street and it was pretty loud through the night well into early morning. But we were able to sleep well as moving kid into a dorm is quite tiring 😜...Other than that inconvenience..everything else is perfect! I really love the helpfulness of the door men. They are really incredible .
- 3/5
Decent basic hotel.
- 4/5
.
- 5/5
Great stay with an amazing restaurant, if you're scared of elevators beware ours malfunctioned twice
- 5/5
Oh, and the beds are really comfy. :)
- 5/5
Clean room and excellent costumer service. Great breakfast place in the lobby.
- 5/5
Clean room/ Excellent costumer service! Convenient breakfast place in the lobby.
- 4/5
Overall a very nice hotel with just a few things that could go better.
- 5/5
The property was good the only thing was the elevator
- 4/5
1. We flew in from California so we are bound to sleep in late. So being situated by the elevators, the noises were really loud around 8-10am. I wish I could have a room that is further away from the elevator. 2. Similar to issue 1, the wall is very thin, I can hear the neighbor in the morning, and the he evening. 3. I was told that coffee was served till 3pm, but it was incorrect, coffee was only served till 11am on Saturdays.
- 3/5
Thin walls, a little beaten up, no fridge.
- 4/5
Nice location. Quiet and away from busy noisy streets. The staff were polite and helpful. Room is freshly updated and had everything I needed. The only thing that was missing inside the room was information about hotel amenities, dining, gym etc.
