The staff are nice. The room is designed very well. The rooftop view is amazing. Has a cute little coffee shop next to the lobby. Located near great food spots and bars. I booked a Deluxe King Room, which should have been one of the best rooms the hotel offered. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. When we first entered the room, there was a strong fishy odor. Even the bed sheets smelled the same way. Housekeeping came and replaced the sheets, which helped somewhat, but the smell never fully went away. My guess is that the A/C filter may be old or moldy, causing the odor throughout the stay. The rooftop bar was another letdown. The drinks were not good, and they served the worst Moscow Mule I’ve ever had. Check-in and check-out at the lobby were both extremely slow, and the coffee shop next door was underwhelming as well. Overall, the hotel simply wasn’t worth the price I paid. Based on my experience, it felt more like a 3-star hotel than the premium experience I was expecting.

Overall we had a good experience at this hotel. We landed at 5am in NYC and we had tried to communicate our arrival plans and request either a paid early check in or for them to please keep us in the loop if the room was ready sooner, and my only complaint is they seemed a little dismissive the few times we mentioned it. We did not check into our room any earlier than 3. Other than that, it was a great hotel located in a very ideal location.

Great location and the room was such good value for it. Three of us stayed in one room and it wasn’t too bad at all, it was also so calm and quiet being tucked just off the busier streets! Staff were so helpful and the coffee shop downstairs was great. Had a wonderful stay and would definitely return/recommend to friends. We couldn’t use the rooftop bar as it was under construction but otherwise is was great!

Hotel Hugo location is excellent and it has an amazing Rooftop Bar. The downstairs coffee shop is also comfortable and has excellent service. The gym is nonexistent. It is located in a small stuffy room next to the hotel laundry. There is zero ventilation and should not be advertised as a gym. The towels are also threadbare, clearly not the caliber that the Hotel Hugo used to be 5 years ago.

The Hotel is in a beautiful area, extremely quiet which was amazing. Our room itself was clean, however some things in the room were dirty. Moldy iron and dirty coffee maker so we did not use either. Also the rooftop wasn’t open which was a real bummer. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful. Also the A/C worked so well and very quick. Overall, our stay was great but not worth the amount paid.

This is a mediocre hotel at best. No valet parking, they send you to a parking facility 4 blocks away even though it was advertised as having onsite parking/valet. No housekeeping unless you ask for it , which is fine except for the fact no one mentioned it at check in. We stayed 5 nights not once did we get any housekeeping. Hotel bar was closed we were not told about it till we checked in. On check out my wife called down to request a luggage cart and was told she had to come down and get it herself as the bellhop did not arrive till 10 am. We had 2 room on the 6th floor the window in one room was directly facing a wall and the other room was not much better. I would have rather stayed at the courtyard a couple of by blocks away for less money and has more amenities. I’ve also stayed nearby at The Dominick and absolutely recommend as a high end hotel.

Really lovely here. The rooms are big enough to accomidate our suitcases, we had plenty of hangers, the lobby is clean and welcoming, the staff was friendly. Oscar, at the front desk was wonderfully kind and accommodating. Water, and bathrobe in the room was lovely. Pillows are big and comfy. They lost a star for the refrigerator not being cold (it was definitely on, because I could touch the freezer element and feel it was trying to be chilled, but it was not cold, or even cool). And the other reason for 4 stars, is the hot water in the shower. It only ever got warm, but not hot. It wasn't even warm enough to steam up the glass shower enclosure. So that was a bummer. But otherwise, we had a lovely, comfy stay here.

Is this the quietest hotel room in NY?! Amazing! Tucked away from the hustle but close to everything. Hotel is fine. It’s annoying that there’s no valet. They have a partnership with the parking garage at 122 Varick street. This was very inconvenient because the parking attendant was rude and kept us waiting for 20 minutes out in the rain and didn’t even bother posting a note on the door that we had to wait. And ultimately, this reflects poorly on the hotel because they don’t offer valet parking. Also, the rooftop restaurant is under renovation, which was not clear when we booked the hotel on Hotels.com. And we paid Not a small price for this hotel.

The reception is extremely helpful and accommodating. We were permitted to checkin at noon, which was very appreciated. The cafe is nice and the food/drinks were very good. We ate breakfast and lunch there. It is set up more like a n upscale Starbucks; order food drinks at the counter and they will bring it to your table. The hotel is a little off the beaten track and a block from the Westside Highway, but you're within two/three blocks of good restaurants and shopping. The rooms are very small, even for NYC standards. The rooftop bar is much more akin to a club than a lounge atmosphere, with the music being loud like a club and the lighting dark.

There was a mix up with my reservation. I updated the date for an extra day during pre-check in. When I checked in, the woman working the front desk confirmed the information from my pre-check in. Unfortunately, they honored the original check-in date and I was forced to leave due to it being sold out. I didn’t appreciate how management handled the situation making it seem like it was my fault. I am the customer and am not aware of certain policies. Additionally, the front desk should have specified which dates were confirmed. My room was next to a high traffic area so though I was upset to have to find another place to stay I was relieved I wouldn’t have to deal with the loud noises from people in the hallway throughout the night/morning. Would I stay here again? No. I ended up staying at The Moore for my additional night and rate it 5 stars. I wish I had booked The Moore for the entirety of my trip. The rooms are smaller but the staff and service far exceeded Hotel Hugo.

I specifically selected a room based based upon the images on their website saying that the room had a view. It did not! We were on the third floor looking directly into the UPS building. The shower head didn't work and it was extremely noisy. When i complained they said they can arrange another room the next day. The second room was in the fifth floor and looked into a courtyard of another apartment building. Shower worked but the sink would not drain! If you advertise rooms with a view you have to deliver and Hotel Hugo did not!

This was a really great spot for getting out and about. Unfortunately we didn’t receive any of the perks that were advertised including a room upgrade and a complimentary bottle of champagne upon checkin. That might be more on Expedia than it is on the hotel, but those perks were why we booked over other budget options available. Definitely check out the rooftop bar and take a bike ride through the greenway near the Hudson.

The hotel was very run down. Flooring in the room was coming up, and the A/C was not working. Long black hair was on the floor in the bathroom. It was just over all not a clean or good stay experience. We tried to change rooms but the manger said there were no more rooms, and we could not change to another hotel due to full occupancy in near by hotels. The manager offer a refund, but during check out, they changed and said they could not accommodate our request. Only could offer refund to the resort fee, which was not alot, but that as yet to be refunded. The photos on their website is not a real representation of the rooms or view. I would spend alittle more money and stay somewhere else, don't say at this hotel.

We immediately reported these issues to the front desk, and while the reception staff initially promised to waive our resort fees for the inconvenience, only two nights were removed upon checkout — despite the problems persisting throughout our stay. This was not only misleading but also reflects very poorly on your customer service. Overall, this experience was far below what we expected, and we left extremely dissatisfied. I hope you take this feedback seriously and take the necessary steps to improve both your facilities and your service.

Hotel Hugo was decent. I would stay here again, but nothing amazing. When I first went into the room it had a bit of a funky smell, so I sprayed some perfume around to help. Good room size, convenient location for me, felt safe, etc.

Shower didn’t drain, maintenance attempted to fix but had to plunge several times and the shower floor filled with black water. In that same room the air conditioner was not working and the temperature would not rise above 78 degrees with was extremely uncomfortable. Maintenance attempted to fix several times with no success including spraying a chemical coolant which filled the room and we had to open the doors and window to let out the strong chemical fumes. While I appreciated maintenance who was really apologetic for the experience and tried so hard to fix everything the front desk did not seem to be empathetic. I was initially told that they could not move me into a different room but after requesting moving to a sister property or getting a refund so that I could find a new hotel they only then were somehow able to find a new room for me.

The property needs maintenance. When we arrived the light at the door was falling down and the bathroom door didn’t close. They fixed it soon after it was reported but the switch in the bathroom around it the drywall was all coming off also. The property is dog friendly, there were dogs everywhere and there is a $45 per day amenity fee that I have no idea what it would covers honestly. I thought it was total $45 but it was per day. I mean we basically came here to sleep I would recommend another hotel closet to spots where you can walk to to dine and drink. The coffee bar attached to hotel made good coffee. The hotel bell man doesn’t hold the doors he’s inside asking if your going to the rooftop doesn’t help you with bags or opening the super heavy doors. The rooftop was beautiful but the bartender cannot make a drink. The outdoor area the rooftop has is pretty and you can see the sunset from there. Honestly we gave it a shot but it’s def not a do over for me nor would I recommend it.

The corner of the property there is a very fun bar. It’s an old Irish bar that has historical background called the ear inn. it’s a super fun bar, nice food and really pleasant workers as well as clientele. There is a deli next-door which is 24 hours and it’s very convenient for those late night snacks as well as morning hydration and daily needs. The area for this hotel is extremely walkable at six blocks to the village and really great restaurants and healthier options are within blocks of the hotel. I actually look forward to going back there hopefully this month if not, I’ll look it back there at least a few more times before the end of the year.

I haven’t gone to the Hugo for a couple of years now probably every few months. Sometimes even sooner lol I really enjoy the staff most if not, everyone has been exceedingly friendly and very helpful when needed information. I have found them very respectful and accommodating I think the property itself is really fantastic. Even when I need to have the maintenance man come up to check something. He was very helpful and I did not seem like I was putting him out by coming up to check my bathroom. Everyone seems to have a smile on their face and everyone seems to be happy working there. The area is great has lots of great restaurants and on the corner of Greenwich and Spring does a bar called the ear in. It’s a must go to. It’s an old diary of the Irish bar that has historical background. It’s amazing and the bodega next to it is 24 hours and the food is great and it’s just a really easy go to. My room is always clean within the hotel and I can’t say enough about how wonderful I think the Hugo is.
