This is my third visit to the hotel. This lovely boutique has a wonderful location that is so nice to be close to the theater district, Times Square area. It is on a quiet side street away from the chaos but yet so close. This visit we were able to enjoy a great dinner two blocks away and then easily walk to the theater for a show. Breakfast is included and in a lovely spot with ample choices to start the day. The rooftop terrace at night should not be missed!
- 5/5
This hotel is a must stay gem close to all the happenings in midtown, but on quieter, charming street! We received an upgrade to a king suite and it was absolutely phenomenal! Two bedrooms and a private balcony - completely unexpected and so special for a birthday trip! The staff is super friendly, entrance is private and intimate, with very friendly staff! Easy breakfast at the quaint restaurant next door. Would absolutely love to stay here again!! Thank you!
- 5/5
The hotel was perfect!
- 5/5
The staff were excellent and very helpful every time I interacted with them. Breakfast was simple but good. Had juice, yogurts, pastries, coffee, etc. Wish they had some kind of labels as to what you eating on the line. Rooms had some minor dings on furniture. But they were clean and very spacious. The rooftop lounging area was nice to unwind from the day. Plenty of places to eat on the street and very close to Times Square but off the main area. Some street noise facing the street on the 3rd floor but not enough to be annoying. Did hear the doors inside the building being shut the most if anything. If I were to come back to New York this would be one of my top choices for that area.
- 5/5
Loved it. Easy walk to Broadway.
- 5/5
Around and convenient to Times Square.
- 5/5
Great location near the theater area and Time Square, with an exceptionally helpful staff, clean, quiet and very comfortable room! Loved the roof top seating area, as well as the complimentary breakfast in the charming dining space. Would highly recommend, and would definitely stay again!
- 5/5
The staff were very nice and helpful. The check in process was very smooth and quick. They will hold your luggage if your room isn’t ready which is so convenient and we used our spare time to explore the city! Our room was spacious, comfortable, and beautiful! I loved it, made me feel at home :) 10/10 overall! The area is also super close to Times Square and theres multiple restaurants nearby! Love the area and it’s very safe! We will book again in the future!
- 5/5
Seriously this property is better than we even imagined. We stayed in the large room 402. It was a great size for a family of 6 the balcony was a lovely and spacious bonus. The location in relation to all the attractions was superb. On site classy bar. If you turn left rather than right out the hotel there are loads of local shops and cheaper bars. Breakfast was lovely. A smidge repetitive for a longer stay like ours but I’m really pushing myself for an even better comment.
- 5/5
Beautiful, quiet boutique hotel, would definitely stay again.
- 5/5
Spent one night in NYC to see a Broadway show. Chose this hotel for the proximity of the theater and the positive reviews. The hotel was clean and staff most helpful. Rooftop lounge was perfect at night to relax after a day spent exploring the city. The piano bar across the street was a 10/10. Would stay here again
- 5/5
The property was great. Central to Times Square. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We loved the breakfast and access to Bar Lola (15% discount.) It was a rainy stay so we liked that we could go next door for a nice meal in a swanky atmosphere. It was delicious, and their staff was great as well.
- 5/5
We didn't use the roof terrace much due to weather but it's a gorgeous spot for getting a bit of a timeout. Breakfast is in the bar/bistro next door, but it's part of the same building, so you don't feel like you're leaving the hotel. It's a continental breakfast - pastries, yoghurt, cereals, etc.
- 5/5
Hotel Scherman was a great spot! Close to our show and in the midst of many great restaurants.
- 5/5
We have found a “ new” home for our NYC visits. This hotel has a ton of charm with wonderful rooms. The location is outstanding for the theater & dining (located on Restaurant Row).
- 5/5
Everything about this hotel was wonderful
- 5/5
Geisa and Mia were awesome!
- 5/5
We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Sherman! It's in a great location just 4 blocks from the subway, and walkable to Times Square and popular attractions. It's also located on Restaurant Row, so there are plenty of restaurants just steps from the door! The decor in the room was modern with lovely armchairs, elegant bedframe, nice furnishings. The shower was wonderful with great pressure. The room included a convenient sink in the kitchenette, mini fridge, coffee maker, TV, and a safe. Rooftop access was fun with great views of the city. Customer service was excellent; every staff member who worked at the desk was friendly, helpful, and welcoming. They all made us feel safe and welcome. They even provided free water bottles in the room when we arrived. The hotel offered free continental breakfast, which included fruits, pastries, juice, coffee, tea, milk, yogurt, cereal, hard-boiled eggs, and more. We ate breakfast there almost everyday. It was delicious and surprisingly filling! We would stay here again if we come back to NYC. Highly recommend!
- 5/5
All great but for the life of me couldn’t get the tv’s to show the news
- 5/5
This hotel is a gem in the theater district. It's centrally located with a lovely terrace, terrific rooms and a great breakfast. It's connected to the bar next door but it was very quiet. Our room had a small balcony which was a great place to hang out. Everyone we met from the front desk to the rest of the staff were all welcoming and very helpful.
- 5/5
Great!! I would 100% stay here again! Beautiful hotel
- 5/5
This place is great! The room is a good size for NYC and it was super quaint. I would absolutely stay again!
- 5/5
We were in one of the smaller rooms, which still felt clean, bright and cozy. I was also impressed with how quiet the hotel was for a relatively busy neighborhood. We enjoyed breakfast at the hotel in the sweet cafe on-site, and overall our stay was very pleasant.
- 5/5
There is much more to this hotel than what you first see on arrival. We had a double queen room and it was very comfortable for the 3 of us. The breakfast room is part of a charming restaurant and bar next to the hotel. There is a nice rooftop lounge and the location was great for us.
- 5/5
The rooms are clean and spacious for NYC, and having a complimentary buffet breakfast is fantastic
- 5/5
...and I didn't even get a chance to try the breakfast or go up to the roof deck!
- 5/5
Perfect hotel on restaurant row in Hell's Kitchen if you want a boutique and quiet hotel room right in the middle of the city! I like to sleep... Geisa is the friendliest concierge I have ever met, I'd stay here again and again.
- 5/5
The room was beautiful and well appointed. We loved the terrace. The location was perfect for it's proximity to Broadway shows. I'll definitely stay here again!
- 4/5
Great location
- 5/5
Great boutique hotel, friendly staff with a nice buffet breakfast included great location
- 5/5
Excellent hotel. Small and quaint. Close to everything
- 5/5
“This place is amazing! Both my mom and I agree that we would come stay here anytime! Love the European vibe too! 10 million stars and all the stars in the galaxy!” - Adahlia, age 12
- 5/5
Quiet but close to theaters!
- 5/5
Hotel Sherman was the perfect oasis for our quick stay in the city. Its entrance is tucked between two buildings, and I almost missed it at first. Upon entering, I felt like I was transported to a quaint Parisian hotel- it was simply lovely! The staff were so welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. When we arrived I learned we were upgraded from a double queen room to a two bedroom penthouse suite with private terrace. It was amazing! The rooftop terrace is also beautiful, and a great place for photos. The stay included breakfast at a gorgeous cafe on the mezzanine level, which had an assortment of pastries, yogurt, and fruit. Its location is also steps away from all the shows and tons of restaurants. I’m already planning to return with my sister this fall!
- 5/5
I had a wonderful stay at the hotel. The breakfast is truly exceptional—high quality and delicious. The terrace is beautiful and adds a special touch to the overall experience.
- 5/5
Really friendly staff and a cute building. Room had lots of charm. Hope to stay here again
- 4/5
Staff was very nice.
- 5/5
Quiet room right in the middle of Time Square! Great staff.
- 5/5
Great place to stay!
- 4/5
Fantastic location, nice style & feel, very nice employees, noise wasn’t really noticeable if window was kept shut, rooftop was great, the only thing I personally didn’t like was the firmness of the beds. WAY too hard for me so I’m thankful it was only one night. Would stay again if beds were a lot softer. Recommend fully if you like very firm mattresses.
- 5/5
The hotel is exceptionally good. The bed is incredibly comfortable, the room is spotless, and the location is incredibly convenient. I haven’t tried the breakfast yet, but it’s included in the stay. This will definitely be my first choice when I visit New York.
- 5/5
Absolutely love this little place. It is so tiny and tucked away. There’s not even a lobby to the hotel just a hallway and then a desk. It is on a quiet street and the breakfast the rooftop the room. Everything was lovely and we will definitely look to stay here again.
- 5/5
The property was an unexpected surprise. Beautiful mezzanine with restaurant.
- 5/5
Everything was wonderful! Very small lobby very boutique rooftop was excellent
- 5/5
I would recommend Hotel Sherman wonderful staff centrally located nice continental breakfast our room was amazing.
- 5/5
I had read numerous positive reviews for Hotel Scherman so my expectations were rather high. My adult daughter and I stayed there for one week and let me say every expectation was surpassed! The staff is phenomenal in every way. This was our first trip to NYC and we were also celebrating my daughter’s birthday. Thoughtful gestures were made including a sweet bag of treats in our room. This hotel is a must-stay for anyone who wants to be within walking distance of Broadway shows and away from the chaos of Times Square. Located on Restaurant Row, everything we could want or need was easily accessible. Thank you to Hotel Scherman for making our stay so memorable and special! We will be back someday!
- 5/5
Delicious breakfast; helpful and pleasant staff; clean and stylish room. Thank you!
- 5/5
Breakfast was delicious. Although billed as a continental option there were plenty of fresh items. The rooms were large for Times Square and had a very boutique feel. Great location mid block of restaurants row. Lovely rooftop area to relax.
- 5/5
Great room and service from staff. Good central location in NYC
- 5/5
Well maintained boutique hotel near Times Square and Broadway shows. Staff are friendly and accommodating. The one only concern was the thin walls and windows. We can hear the outside noise clearly. Other than that, this is a very nice place to stay while vacationing in NYC.
- 5/5
Loved breakfast snd staff
- 5/5
Loved staying at Hotel Scherman. It's surprisingly quiet for being a few blocks from times square and for their being a decent amount of activities on the street. The rooms are SPACIOUS for NYC and it seemed like the space was well thought out. Not to mention it's incredibly eclectic and styled well. Will stay here again next time I come.
- 5/5
Hidden gem! Lovely hotel and staff.
- 5/5
We had the 2 bedroom suite So clean was spotless Outside space was a bonus in NY Breakfast was brilliant Would come back to this hotel over and over
- 5/5
Very nice staff and clean premises. Middle of restaurant row.
- 5/5
Great stay
- 5/5
The staff are very welcoming, informative and super friendly. The room was clean, great view, all the amenities; coffee bar, ice in the freezer, condiments, silverware and extra cups. The only con we found is that being right next to a stairwell, the door slams shut( at all hours). It’s really loud. Like jump you awake loud. No other cons, just ask not to be roomed by a stair well. We will be back.
- 5/5
We stayed in a two bedroom room. The beds and pillows were super comfortable and quiet. We had a very restful night. We were in town for a show and the distance to the venue was only a few blocks. And there are many great places to eat as the hotel is within the notable restaurant row area.
- 5/5
We enjoyed everything! A great boutique hotel in a very central location.
- 5/5
Great stay
- 5/5
This is lovely little hotel with everything you need for a stay in midtown. It's walking distance to all the Broadway shows. The king room I stayed in was very large and even had a little balcony where you could have your tea or coffee in the morning. The staff is lovely and helpful. I will definitely stay again!
- 4/5
Good breakfast and staff
- 4/5
Great experience if you don’t need the fluff of a hotel with amenities - and really who does in the center of manhattan- the city is your amenity. But the one thing I would caution is that the hallway noise can be disruptive. The doors to the stairwells don’t have closers on them so they just bang shut, often at all hours of the night. And the seals around the room doors are minimal so the sound permeates significantly.
- 5/5
Lovely people, great area. We slept and rested extremely comfortably.
- 5/5
Really appreciated the continental breakfast. Our second year staying at this hotel for my son’s birthday, and the staff go above and beyond to make his stay special and memorable. The suites are wonderful, we really loved having the living room. It was very comfortable! The location is so convenient, and the rooms are so peaceful at night!
- 5/5
Wonderful staff, room and location. We were traveling with three kids 5 and under and it was perfect to have breakfast at the location and a park right down the street! Perfect for staff in NYC to be close to it all, but not feeling the hustle and bustle of the city,

- 5/5
Rooms are very spacious, nice bathroom, fast internet, complimentary bottled water in the fridge, well-stocked Keurig for morning coffee, decent contintal breakfast, friendly staff...especially Geisa whom I saw every day. I go to NYC once a year to see as many shiws as possible...8 on this visit! Being so close to the Theatre District...and being ON Restaurant Row was such a plus. The Rooftop Terrace is amazing...wish it had not been so cold...will use it more NEXT time!
- 5/5
The room was lovely, staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, my only note is if arriving before check-in, they share a “lobby” restroom with the restaurant next door. It’s accessible via the hotel elevator but not an ideal spot to freshen up after a flight. We slept amazing, street noise was minimal with the windows shut and having a small balcony was such a cool surprise. Would absolutely stay here again! So close to Times Square but definitely a quieter street compared to others nearby.
- 5/5
Quiet, good location, really accommodating staff. We enjoyed our stay.
- 5/5
My daughter and I enjoyed our brief stay at the hotel. Everything was a 10/10.
- 5/5
Outstanding jewel of a hotel! Already booking again for a future visit. Loved it and so convenient for Broadway and Times Square.
- 5/5
The staff made the trip even better than it was. The location was perfect and accessible to everything, train, food, fun. Couldn’t ask for anything more.
- 5/5
It is an easy walk to the noisy streets of Times Square, but the hotel is a quiet place to go back to. The breakfast is great with several options. The croissants are especially good! There is also a great little coffee shop called St. Kilda’s a few doors down. The Port Authority bus terminal is an easy walk from the hotel if you travel in via bus or subway.
- 5/5
Great place! Staff was helpful. Room was bright!
- 5/5
One of the things we loved most was the character of the hotel. The rooms have a charming old-world New York City feel that you just don’t get at larger corporate or chain hotels. It made the stay feel much more personal and authentic. The amenities were excellent, and the rooftop overlooking the city was absolutely beautiful. It was such a great place to relax and take in the atmosphere of New York. A special touch we really appreciated was the handwritten welcome note left on our bed when we checked in, it made the experience feel extra thoughtful and memorable. The location was also ideal, making it very easy to walk to many of the city’s main attractions and explore the area. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and we would absolutely stay here again. Highly recommend!
- 5/5
This was such a nice hotel! Very clean, comfortable and great location!!
- 4/5
right off Times Square but much more sedate. room is quite nice. bathroom is quite small. safe. 5 minute-walk to Broadway shows. Staff is great. Breakfast in the restaurant next door. Breakfast was pretty good.
- 5/5
Amazing space for a New York City hotel. So clean and thankfully, a full bathroom with a door! Well worth it and location is perfection.
- 5/5
Wonderful boutique hotel in a great location. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable. Great location!
- 5/5
It was a very well kept clean, centrally located hotel, and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful
- 5/5
We had a wonderful stay at the Hotel Scherman. The room was comfortable, clean and nicely appointed. The staff was so warm, friendly and inviting. It is tucked away on Restaurant Row, so there are plenty of dining options around; but it is also perfect walking distance to both Penn Station and Broadway shows. In addition, being off the main street kept the city noise to a minimum, which made for a great sleeping experience. I would highly recommend the hotel and would be happy to stay again.
- 5/5
It was a pleasure to stay for 5 days. The team are excellent as was the room. Bardough a pizza bar next door was also very good.
- 5/5
Right in the middle of restaurant
- 5/5
Best hotel we've stayed at in New York. Room was large and spotless, hotel was charming, staff were amazing, and location was great. Highly recommended.
- 5/5
The room was clean and the staff were all very pleasant. Breakfast was included and was in the pub next store. Plenty of choices and all tasty!
- 5/5
Our room was surprisingly spacious for a NYC hotel room. Charming decor, comfy bed, and everything was spotless! The staff was also friendly and helpful, and we loved the continental breakfast! We would gladly stay here again!
- 5/5
Spacious and clean rooms. Helpful staff.
- 5/5
The staff is incredibly kind. The included breakfast was perfect. The room was very clean.
- 5/5
The room was spacious and clean. It even had a fridge and a mini kitchenette. We also appreciated two bottles of water chilled in the fridge - free of charge. Very kind! Staff members were extremely attentive and helpful. The lobby is small, but don’t let that bother you.
- 4/5
Really nice hotel with great amenities and friendly staff. Bathroom was small, but room size was nice. Our wall backed up to a place that played loud club music until about 3 am, but otherwise really enjoyed our stay.
- 5/5
The staff, the room, and the location were all amazing. We look forward to staying again soon.
- 5/5
Great location, friendly staff, nice simple breakfast, very clean.
- 5/5
Cozy, clean and convenient. We had a great stay, delicious breakfast and friendly staff. We will definitely be back.
- 4/5
Friendly staff
- 5/5
Very nice stay
- 5/5
AMAZING hotel! Great location, the room was quaint, comfortable, and clean. Morning breakfast was top tier an every staff member we interacted with was friendly, efficient and seemed to enjoy their job. We will be back!
- 5/5
Parking is on on the same street but easy to find.
- 5/5
The staff was very courteous and the hotel room was very nice and the location was perfect. I would stay there again and highly recommended it
- 5/5
Room was wonderful. Location near a lot of restaurants!
- 5/5
The staff was welcoming and friendly offering to hold our luggage both prior to check-in and after check-out. Extras: 1) There is a rooftop terrace for all hotel guests. 2) The rate included a continental breakfast which was served at a restaurant next door. It had a very good selection and evoked an European vibe. 3) The hotel is on a quaint street located among many restaurants and close to theaters.
- 5/5
Excellent service, great location
- 5/5
Great
- 4/5
The room was very small and the bed was against the wall which we did not like. That being said, it was clean and comfortable and the included breakfast was lovely.
- 5/5
Booked a regular room but was surprised with an upgrade to 2 bedroom / 2 bath with balcony overlooking city lights. Very beautiful. The room was extremely clean and had thoughtful touches: coffee/tea, fridge, bottled water. The included Continental breakfast was very good and served at a quaint restaurant next door. The hotel front desk and restaurant staff were all very pleasant and helpful. Added bonus - rooftop terrace.
- 5/5
Hotel Scherman is a hidden gem in the heart of NYC. As a boutique hotel with only 26 rooms, it offers guests incredibly attentive care and consideration. The staff are professional, kind, and knowledgeable about the local area. My room was clean, well-designed, and the bed was very comfortable. It also included a convenient kitchenette stocked with a mini-fridge, cutlery, coffee, and tea. Additionally, the rooftop seating area is a wonderful feature during warm weather. This place was the perfect little secret staycation spot! I hope to be able to come back soon!
- 5/5
The rooms were decent size.
- 5/5
Great location. Our room was just like an apartment, private location, nice decoration. Breakfast included at the restaurant next door was great! Good shower pressure. Super courteous staff. Some noise coming from street side but to be expected. Definite repeat
- 5/5
Staff were very welcoming and friendly. We only stayed one night and it was absolutely great! Upon checking in, they upgraded our room that was stunning! We will certainly be back again.
- 5/5
What a gem!! A great location, friendly employees, spotless room, huge shower. The free in room coffee and breakfast were an added bonus. Loved the bed too:)
- 5/5
This hotel is a GEM! It’s exactly what I’d seen from reviewers and social media. Absolutely convenient, beautiful, super clean, warm, helpful, friendly staff. Unbelievable price.
- 5/5
Large clean rooms and friendly staff
- 5/5
Great location! Friendly staff
- 5/5
Staff was lovely, location was excellent, and the room was beautiful.
- 5/5
Simply outstanding stay. The cleanest hotel I’ve ever been in, very attentive staff, quiet rooms. Definitely coming back for my next NYC trip.
- 4/5
Nice little quaint bed and breakfast looking hotel but not in an upscale neighborhood.
- 5/5
Clean room. Nice rooftop area. Welcoming and friendly staff.
- 5/5
Let us check in a little early and the room was spacious and clean.
- 5/5
This is a practical location for visiting NYC. It is walkable to the Theater District and there are a ton of great restaurants in the area, such as Sicily Osteria. The staff here is quite attentive and courteous and this hotel is clean. I recommend this place.
- 5/5
Outstanding hotel, staff and location.
- 5/5
Excellent rom clean and spacious with helpful staff and great location
- 5/5
Everything was fine. Old building but very well managed
- 5/5
The room was much bigger than we thought it would be as this looks like a small hotel. It was super clean and decorated so nice. Everything was super comfy and the staff were amazing! Id absolutely stay here again!
- 5/5
This was a great experience. The staff was wonderful and so accommodating. The room was clean and comfortable. We even had a deck with a view! The location was perfect for the shows we came to see in NYC.
- 5/5
Actually didn’t catch breakfast.
- 5/5
This is a gem of a hotel.
- 5/5
Everything. Small charming hotel with great staff in a great location.
- 5/5
Very clean room. Would prefer to stay in main building next time. Thanks.
- 5/5
Absolutely wonderful stay. Highly recommend! Clean! Spacious! Great customer service!
- 5/5
The room was amazing. We had the 2 bedroom suite and it was very spacious with beautiful views. Staff was excellent and friendly. Breakfast was an added bonus. We especially loved being able to have our luggage held before our check-in time and after we had already checked out. This allowed us the ability to explore a little bit longer without pugging around all of our belongings. The next time we come back to the city, Hotel Scherman is definitely one of the first places we will look for reservations.
- 5/5
Spotless and spacious room and bathroom. Beautiful and cosy brownstone! Conveniently located. Staff was kind, helpful, and friendly. Continental breakfast basic, but nice!
- 4/5
Staff was great , room was fine but parts of hotel are under construction
- 5/5
Spacious, clean room. Took a second to figure out the AC/heater, but it worked well! The staff was very kind and welcoming. The area always seemed quiet and safe with even using your room key to open the door to the building. Nice walking distance to a lot of things. We didn’t get a chance to eat the complimentary breakfast, but I’m sure it was great. The rooftop terrace was icing on the cake and a special added bonus. Loved our stay here!
- 5/5
This is such a gem tucked away in Hells Kitchen on Restaurant Row. We’ve stayed in dozens of hotels in NYC through the years and this is now our go-to. Room was clean and charming, staff efficient and friendly, location central to shopping and theatres!
- 5/5
Lovely, updated well appointed room. Professional, helpful, gracious staff, went above and beyond to help us. Attention to detail like hand written card in our room. Outstanding location close to restaurants, theaters and central Manhattan sites.
- 5/5
Staff and amenities were amazing!!! 10/10 recommend! Would stay here again, very centric too.
- 5/5

Beautiful view from the balcony
- 5/5
We normally stay in a large brand hotel for our trips to NYC but I stumbled upon Hotel Scherman this year and wanted something different. The hotel did NOT disappoint. We stayed in the 2bedroom suite and for a party of 3, it was more than enough space. My sister loved that the ambience felt like we were staying with friends and family, The room was super clean and cozy and the breakfast next door was just enough. The location was perfectly situated on restaurant row providing tons of options and was less than a 10 minute walk to our theater. Will definitely be back. Just a lovely, clean and cozy hotel.
- 4/5
clean room. very quiet. close to everything but off the beaten path. of course expensive because of Christmas season. loved that we had the two queen beds. Water in shower didn’t get hot but we got along fine.
- 5/5
We were updated to a suite when we walked in. The room was so beautiful and spacious. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Hotel was close to Times Square. The room was very quiet as well. Very peaceful.
- 5/5
Loved it as always. Best kept secret in NYC
- 5/5
Clean large room with an excellent location
- 5/5
This is a cute little hotel, reasonably priced and perfectly located! Clean and courteous staff rounded it all out!
- 5/5
Very good location for times square, quiet on an evening and very clean.
- 5/5
The location was a huge plus. It’s in a great spot where almost everything is walkable, with plenty to do, eat, and see just around the corner. I’ve stayed at places that look nice but make getting anywhere a hassle—this wasn’t that. Hotel Scherman made the stay easy, comfortable, and honestly enjoyable.
- 5/5
Only complaint is about the tv controls
- 5/5
Our room was very spacious with a microwave, Kuerig coffee maker and a refrigerator. The bed was very comfortable. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Finally, the price was very reasonable for New York City. Out stay was excellent and I would highly recommend this hotel.
- 5/5
As much as I’d like to more thoroughly explore other areas of the city, I can’t imagine choosing to stay anywhere else on our next visit. You just can’t beat this standard and level of attention to detail. Thank you all for an unforgettable honeymoon!
- 5/5
Cute hotel, we were actually in the building next door which was like our own little apartment on the backside of the building room 307 on the third floor. Do need to walk up several flights of stairs but that was fine for us. Room was very clean, serviced each day, you get breakfast right next door in restaurant which was nice. Great location, many restaurants, easy to get to Times Square, Rockefeller center, Central Park and more.
- 5/5
We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Scherman. The front desk staff were all super friendly and check-in was very quick. Our room was spacious and had everything we needed. We had zero issues with noise and slept great. The location is so convenient to all the Christmas activities in the midtown area. Plus so many great restaurants surround the hotel. Highly recommend staying at Hotel Scherman. We would stay here again!!
- 5/5
The Hotel Scherman on W 46th St is a fabulous hotel. Located on Restaurant Row, the Scherman has great views, super clean rooms, and close proximity to Times Square, Theaters and wonderful eateries. It is quiet at night for being close to the hustle-and-bustle. A continental breakfast at BarDough next door is a great way to start your day. I recommend the Hotel Scherman without reservation.
- 5/5
Wonderful stay, welcoming staff. It’s hard to find two bedroom suites in NYC, this is a fantastic option for families.
- 5/5
What a lovely hotel! Fabulous service, large rooms, great amenities! Great location to restaurants, Broadway, and Times Square. Will definitely go back there again.
- 5/5
Yes I love the convenience of the breakfast. Thank you.
- 5/5
Clean nice hotel with good service.
- 5/5
Clean rooms. Perfect location. Great service!
- 5/5
Very clean and staff very friendly. Perfect location to everything within walking distance.
- 5/5
The hotel was located in a convenient area. The rooms were spacious and clean. The staff was friendly, helpful and accommodating. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience in NYC.
- 5/5
The hotel is small but really cozy. The terrace is gorgeous and offers an amazing view of the vibrant city. There are plenty of bars and restaurants all around
- 4/5
Nice location. The smell of the room was great! The room was clean. The bathroom was very clean. The breakfast was great! The rooftop view was great! The cons were the hallway commercial carpets in the common areas don’t seem to get vacuumed daily or the vacuum used is not properly picking up particles on the carpet because it’s very noticeable. At first I was afraid the room was dirty as well but the room was very clean. The living room faucet appears to be a bit loose and the hot and cold water are reversed. Hot is always on the left and cold on the right.

Beautiful room, staff was super friendly and helpful. Loved everything about this room/hotel/experience!
- 5/5
Gorgeous room. Great location. Extremely professional and helpful staff. A real find for NYC in central location.
- 5/5
When I'm ready to come back to NYC, I will return to Hotel Scherman! It was quiet but right in the heart of everything we came for. The staff was delightful. The room was spotless, comfortable, and did I mention how quiet it was? I was so impressed and happy with our experience!
- 5/5
That said, everything else exceeded our expectations, and we genuinely enjoyed our time here. We would happily return and recommend it to others!
- 5/5
All employees were friendly, professional and helpful. The room was a good value and the location was perfect for our itinerary.
- 5/5
Staffs are so kind and friendly. The rooms are beautiful and clean. This is my first time in this city, I was a little scared because of what I read about New York, but I was surprised with the experience. It is such a beautiful place. And this hotel is a gem.
- 5/5
Lovely stay at Scherman! We will definetly be back and will stay here in the future!
- 5/5
Excellent rooms, staff, location, and free breakfast was a bonus! We stay here every year in the fall and already booked for next year!!! Our 2 br 2 bath suite had a large outdoor balcony. We would never stay anywhere else!!
- 5/5
Room was very clean, comfortable, and easily accessible. Bed was very comfortable and the bathroom large and accommodating. The staff was very friendly and helpful when checking in and offering advice for getting around the city. Absolutely will stay here again when we come back to NYC.
- 4/5
Staff was great - room was very clean - breakfast was really good!
- 5/5
I stay here often when I’m in NYC and I LOVE the room decor, size and cleanliness. It’s a beautiful boutique hotel and you can’t beat the location on restaurant row. Always buzzing with activity because of the many restaurant options but you can’t hear any street noise in the room. The free breakfast has many nice options to start your day!
- 4/5
Clean and good service, but we apparently got the accessible room with noisy bath vent fan and awkward bathroom.
- 5/5
The hotel was exactly as described. Always greeted when we came in, beds were comfortable, room was clean. No complaints. Would stay here again.
- 5/5
Very cozy and welcoming
- 5/5
Courteous and helpful staff! Spotless room! Location to and for the NYC Marathon was excellent!
- 5/5
Beautifull
- 5/5
Stunning comfortable room, well furnished, super comfortable bed. Lovely friendly staff, great breakfast and location can’t be beaten!
- 5/5
This is my second stay here. The staff at the desk is very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and even a lovely view. The location is great and will return in the future.
- 5/5
Staff, space
- 5/5
We were upgraded to a penthouse suite. It had two bedrooms and a large balcony.
- 4/5
The room was small but clean and verily quiet! Staff were accommodating
- 5/5
We loved our time there and would use again to access this part of New York.
- 5/5
Staff was great, room was great! Quiet area that was close to a lot of the major things to do. Would do again if opportunity came up.
- 5/5
Our second time staying at Hotel Scherman while in the city to see Broadway shows. The hotel staff are all very welcoming, helpful and professional, something the chain hotels don’t seem to emphasize much any more. Sometimes the nightlife on the street can be a little loud, but what can you expect if you’re in New York City. Anything and everything one might want to do is easily within walking distance. Will always think of Hotel Scherman first when needing hotel accommodations in NYC and recommend everyone do so as well.
- 5/5
Great all around experience. Exceeded our expectations. Excellent value and location. Highly recommend.
- 5/5
Beautiful room, loved the brick walls and loft feel of it. Big shower and nice bathroom. Loved the fridge and Keurig coffee maker. Staff was extremely accommodating and made our stay so easy!
- 5/5
Great boutique hotel. Friendly service. Definitely coming back.
- 5/5
We were flying in from Europe and our plane was delayed twice. We were very late getting to hotel, but were treated quickly and made to feel very welcome. (Even had a handwritten note on our bed!)
- 5/5
The hotel staff was always super friendly and the rooms were spacious and clean. We loved the rooftop patio area! If you’re looking for a not so crowded hotel that’s close to everything this is it! We would definitely stay here again!
- 3/5
The bathroom needs some updating. I have never seen a smaller sink in my life - there was no possibility of washing one’s face in that sink. The shower took forever to get hot and the shower fixtures were some of the worst I have experienced in a 4-star level hotel. The free breakfast was just ok. The coffee was weak the bagels are not NY (odd) and the yogurts offered are the brand that is given in food pantries. The location is amazing though walking distance to Times Square on a cool street with many dining options.
- 5/5
Perfect location near Times Square and wonderful restaurants in Hell’s Kitchen. Friendly staff, beautiful continental breakfast.
- 5/5
If you want to go to Hell’s Kitchen and have an accessible place to crash after filling your soul with excellent food and drink, this is your home. Great vibe inside, quality room and very quiet despite being right on the street and next to great bars and restaurants. Parking a block away was easy, plus if you want a bagel in the morning it’s two blocks away!
- 5/5
To begin the hotel is very small. You will miss it if you are driving by. But it is a nice spot. Very clean, nicely decorated rooms and great staff. Nice roof top terrace and its a few blocks from times sqaure. Hundreds of restaurants in the area that walking distance.
- 5/5
The hotel is very small and cute. The rooms are clean and very well decorated, with a lot of taste. It is in a very busy street but the windows are isolating you from the noise. Very peaceful. Highly recommended if you want great place and avoid the big touristic and expensive hotels with lack of taste. Great location.
- 5/5
Great hotel in ideal mid town location. Staff were all really friendly. Room was spacious and quiet with a great view. Breakfast had a good choice and was a great bonus. Will definitely stay here again when in New York.

Loved the stay here! great location and great staff. We will be making this our go to spot to stay when in the city.
- 5/5
I really enjoyed my stay at Hotel Scherman! The location is great and convenient for Broadway and tons of awesome dining options. The staff was extremely helpful and kind. The room was perfectly clean and spacious. I will definitely look at this hotel next time I plan on staying in NYC.
- 5/5
Small, lovely boutique hotel in a great location. Great restaurants on the same street. Just a couple of blocks from Times Square. Our suite was roomy & very clean. The rooftop terrace was a nice bonus. The restaurant & bar were under renovation but a continental breakfast was offered next door. We look for to returning
- 5/5
Although breakfast was being served in the restaurant next door because of refurbishment it was an excellent continental breakfast that set us ul for the day ahead. Air conditioning was great (very hot when we stayed) and the service was friendly throughout
- 5/5
great location, clean rooms, convenient to walk around for food and times square
- 5/5
Wonderful place to stay that feels like you’re just going up to your own apartment, doesn’t feel like a typical hotel, we just loved it! It’s in the middle of Restaurant Row so very vibrant and safe, tons of dining options and close to everything else. Our room was beautiful and clean with classical music playing when we arrived! This is a definite stay again hotel!
- 5/5
I very much enjoyed my stay here and plan to book again in the future
- 5/5
The location is fantastic: quiet and peaceful despite being right in Midtown. It felt like a hidden gem tucked away from the hustle, yet steps from Broadway and all the excitement. We especially enjoyed the piano and showtune bars just across the street, which made for a fun and easy nightcap. All in all, Hotel Scherman is a wonderful boutique option in NYC, and we’d definitely stay here again.

- 5/5
They went above and beyond to make sure our stay was special! The rooftop terrace is incredible, and I cannot wait to go back!
- 5/5
Boutique hotel with spacious rooms, great location, and very accommodating staff would highly recommend
- 5/5
Wonderful base for our trip close to times square and all. The room was, beautifully decorated and spotless the added extra of a kitchenette too would not hesitate to recommend to others and would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Wonderful location especially if you are attending Broadway shows. Many restaurants nearby. Tucked away on a quiet street considering proximity to Broadway.
- 5/5
Great stay!
- 5/5
Everyone was very friendly and hotel was clean and roof top was amazing.
- 5/5
Boutique hotel with very nice staff. Convenient to theatres/times square. Room was nice- this is not a modern hotel, so I would not stay for biz travel, but fit my needs and staff was great
- 5/5
It was such a lovely experience! I spent a weekend in the suite with my friends and it was pretty spacious, clean, and cozy. The staff is very friendly and I really enjoyed the complimentary breakfast for all guests in the morning. The area is nice with a couple of restaurants and shops nearby. It was also quiet which is a plus if you want to feel well-rested. Definitely would visit again.
- 5/5
Loved the property. Very convenient to most of the theaters. We saw three shows and never took a cab once during our stay. Staff were friendly and accommodating
- 5/5
Love this hotel!
- 5/5
Excellent! Ruth took my bags before checkin so I can explore the city and it was placed in my room for me. I was also accommodated with late checkout. Complimentary breakfast was great with lots of options!
- 5/5
There was a personal note to us when we got to the room. Everyone was helpful and the room was very spacious for New York! Couldn’t recommend more
- 5/5
Rally great experience
- 5/5
Loved how central this location felt for our activities in Times Square and Broadway. Excellent suite for family of 5, very comfortable and spacious.
- 4/5
Waking distance to Time Square and Broadway
- 5/5
The room we had was two queens it was big by manhattan standards. It was immaculately clean. The shower was poweful and the bathroom was lovely. Breakfast was great plenty of choice all fresh and staff were always friendly. We managed to lock our self out the safe twice staff were brilliant with us and were quick to sort any problems. I would stay here again without hesitation if back in New York.
- 5/5
Good
- 5/5
We attended a convention at the Javit's center and the location of the hotel was just perfect. Both the convention center and times square was easily walkable. The staff was also very helpful and friendly!
- 5/5
My stay at the Hotel Scherman was great! From holding my bags before and after check-in to an unexpected upgrade to a king suite, the staff and accommodations exceeded my expectations. I will definitely stay here on my next visit to NYC.
- 5/5
The staff is both courteous and gracious! Much appreciated... This was the largest room we've ever had in Manhatten -- even a small balcony! The thriving location on Restaurant Row is convenient and exciting!
- 5/5
We loved our stay at Hotel Scherman. We stayed in the 2 bedroom penthouse with our 4 kids. The staff were very kind and professional. The continental breakfast was wonderful, tje space for dining is cute and fun--we wish the connecting restaurant was open, and when booking several months ago thought we'd be able to enjoy food and beverages with steps away access. Whole this space wasnt open there are many good places to est within walking distance! We loved the terrace and the rooftop balcony was excellent as well. When we return we will likely stay here again!
- 4/5
Nice , small boutique hotel . Room was clean and comfortable. Good location for theater and restaurants. Only 1 elevator and it could be a bit slow. Breakfast was good for basic buffet, no special orders.
- 5/5
Beautiful views from my room and the rooftop! Great little room, very comfortable too.
- 5/5
Great stay near the theatre district- many dining choices. Walkable safe area and the terrace was so lovely on a summer eve!
- 5/5
Great location. Friendly staff. Wonderful stay.
- 5/5
We stayed in the penthouse at the start of August. Room was spacious for NYC, two bedrooms and a sofa bed. Beds super comfortable and room was quiet. It had a private terrace with views of the skyscrapers. Perfect location for our family of five on the relative oasis of restaurant row but within a short walk of Broadway. Massive shout out for the staff at the hotel. Service was brilliant and they couldn’t have been nicer with our girls. Free breakfast was excellent, rooms super clean! 10/10
- 4/5
great off the beat and path- cute and coay
- 4/5
A nice stay in a small European style hotel in the heart of the theater district. The staff was friendly, the bed comfortable and the shower was excellent. The coffee was weak, but it’s nice to find a midrange hotel with breakfast. The room would be more spacious and appealing with less furniture. Great location!
- 5/5
Great hospitality. We arrived really early and the staff got our room ready quickly. The room was spacious and had a great balcony. Comfortable beds and coffee in the room. We will certainly stay here again.
- 5/5
My family of four just stayed four nights at Hotel Scherman and would absolutely stay there again! The staff is so wonderful. Every person we came across was kind and helpful. It is in a great area on a pretty quiet street and is a very close walking distance to everything. It is immaculately clean and well maintained. We loved this gem in NYC!
- 5/5
Everyone was fantastic! Very close to all the action right in the heart of Times Square.
- 5/5
A fantastic, historic property in the heart of Manhattan. The room was beautifully designed with a fireplace, ample seating, & comfortable bedding. For NYC, very spacious, yet cosy. Staff were helpful & friendly. Convenient location to Times Square, Theatre District, Hell’s Kitchen, & close to The High Line. Highly recommend.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel and amazing time! Upon arrival the hotel upgraded me and my boyfriend for free. We had a suite with a Juliet balcony. Everything was beyond affordable. The view was beautiful and only a quick 2 minute walk to times square. The staff was beyond kind and our favorite part of our stay was the rooftop terrace with beautiful views and cozy atmosphere. We would 100% book here/ stay here again.
- 5/5
100% would return again.fantastic location
- 5/5
What a beautiful gem right in the heart of NYC! Classy and wonderful views too!
- 5/5
Absolutely loved the rooms! Would definitely stay again :)
- 5/5
Great find!
- 5/5
Family trip.
- 4/5
I love this hotel! What a great discovery for staying in and around the theater district and restaurant row. It is TINY at the entrance so look for the Backstage Tavern which is adjacent and attached to the hotel. The lobby isnt really a lobby it is just a very narrow hall with a desk at the end of it next to the elevator. We checked in with ease and were upgraded to the largest room I have ever stayed in in NYC! 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with a living room AND a private terrace! Wow! Bed was super comfortable and the bathroom was gigantic and very clean! They lose one star because when we checked in we were told the hotel could offer a late check out if we needed it. My fiance had an follow up appt Monday morning with his surgeon at HSS and we didnt know if we would need a little more time (asked for an extra hour). We were denied that request but in truth we only stayed one night and did not use the other half of the room and barely used the living space so I think they could have afforded time to allow this. However any time we go to see a show in midtown we will be staying at this lovely hotel. Breakfast (continental) is also included from 8am to 10am which was nice. The cost of this stay was only 200 with taxes and fees! Incredible for NYC!
- 5/5
Nice safe clean hotel.
- 5/5
Always a terrific stay at Hotel Scherman!!
- 5/5
Oh- and the rooftop breakfast is just perfect! Thank you!
- 5/5
We loved our room! The terrace is beautiful and nice to sit on after a long day of walking. The breakfast was convenient and an added bonus. Lots of restaurants near by and easy walk to the theaters, time square and transportation (subways)! Highly recommend and would stay here again in a heartbeat.
- 5/5
We spent 2 nights here to close out a 3 week trip to Italy. It is a block and a half to Times Square on what they called "Restaurant Row". We got the 2 bedroom family style room and it was absolutely perfect. Included a small terrace that was awesome to sit on at night. Great hotel, nice staff, decent continental breakfast to start the day.
- 5/5
Beautiful boutique hotel
- 5/5
I booked Hotel Scherman for our mother/ daughter NYC trip. Its location to theaters and Times Square was perfect for us. Quick walk to shows, delicious restaurants, subway stations without hearing the noise of TS from our hotel room. This boutique hotel is really a little gem in NYC! The hotel staff is very kind and they upgraded our room as a treat upon our arrival. I was so pleased and felt very safe here. 100% will be staying here on our return trips. *pic from our 3rd floor balcony
- 5/5
Phenomenal boutique hotel. Centrally located and despite being in the middle of a fun area with lots of life, it was quiet. Maps will show you how walkable to XYZ this hotel is, but it really was great to experience it. Rooftop deck is a bonus. A great spot.
- 5/5
Great location, great staff, and just a lovely place. Felt like a great, great value.
- 5/5
Great small hotel...staff was super kind and rooftop was a really nice perk. Room was small but very clean and comfortable.
- 5/5
The staff, location, and service were all exceptional! All of our needs were met and the area is excellent as there are many bars and restaurants nearby. The location is also walkable to Chelsea market, times square and the theater district etc. I would definitely stay here again!
- 5/5
We couldn’t have been more pleased/impressed with our stay at the Hotel Scherman! The staff were pleasant and helpful…and the location was great.
- 5/5
The drapes are very dusty, overall, everything looks good
- 4/5
I liked the convenience and location of the property as well as the coffee and additives in the room, and the breakfast buffet. I wish the buffet started at 7am instead of 8am, and I felt that the room furniture was old and outdated. The room was small but the chairs were too big for the space, limiting a walk between the bed and the bathroom.
- 5/5
The Hotel Scherman could be the best kept secret in New York City. The staff were wonderful, helpful, and very knowledgeable and friendly. We liked it so much we’ve booked another stay later this year. It’s far enough away from the hustle and bustle of Times Square, but only a short walk when you want to join the crowds. Hotel Scherman reminded us of hotels in Madrid, Paris and Rome. Cannot recommend it enough.
- 5/5
We had an absolutely wonderful experience with this hotel. It started with a smooth and seamless check in with Reet and continued when we stepped into our room. Beautiful room, very spacious bathroom, simple but tasty breakfast, delightful staff, and a great location. I highly recommend!
- 5/5
Centrally located and lived the rooftop “lounge” space
- 5/5
It was beautiful and absolutely perfect for a mother daughter trip! It is quiet and feels like you are tucked away from all the busyness of the city.
- 5/5
We stayed at hotel Scherman to celebrate an anniversary trip. They went above and beyond to ensure our stay was welcoming and enjoyable. Thank you for your hospitality and making our stay so special!!
- 5/5
Rooms were a good size. Breakfast was very tasty and the roof top patio at the end of the day was amazing! Great location too. Five minute walk from Times Square and seven minute walk from Broadway. The hotel is fantastic!
- 5/5
Great location
- 5/5
Quaint and quiet. Friendly people and clean.
- 5/5
Everything was excellent! Even a minor issue like our door not opening properly was quickly and pleasantly handled. Beds were comfy, not too much noise, very clean, nice shower. 10/10 would stay again!
- 4/5
The flaws here are not the hotel’s fault exactly. We were in a ground floor room & the NOISE at night from neighboring business/club/restaurant was incessant. If we were not New Yorkers used to nightly chaos we would not have slept a wink from the ntts ntts ntts of the pounding bass. Thats the biggest headline. The rooms, linens & staff are fantastic. There is no room service but you’re on restaurant row so as cheesy as that can be there is also truly great food. The breakfast is very “mid level European hotel” - yogurt, toast, coffee, fruit; no complaints. The location is A LOT but if you wanna be in the epicenter of NYC tourism, it’s great & is the boutique alternative to the cheesy corporate chains.
- 5/5
We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Scherman. The room was even more beautiful than we expected and we slept great every night in the extremely comfortable bed. Our windows even opened out onto a small balcony with a chair and table. There is also a rooftop terrace for all guests to use that is stunning and the perfect place to unwind in the evening. The whole building is so nicely done and in the perfect location on restaurant row. We were close to all the Broadway shows and walking distance to all the major sites including Times Square and Central Park. There was a subway station just a few blocks away that made it easy to get to and from the airport and anywhere else we wanted to go. Breakfast every morning was delicious and the staff was so kind and friendly. We loved everything about our stay and would definitely stay here again. Don’t hesitate to book your stay here!
- 5/5
Very cute boutique type hotel. Rooftop terrace was amazing. Staff was super friendly and very accommodating. Greatly helped out my 80-year-old mother. Location was super convenient. Continental breakfast is a bonus. Very cute bar next door. Very happy for the value. We'll look to stay here again!
- 5/5
Loved the hotel and the area, looking forward to returning and hopefully getting the same room.
- 4/5
Very nice!
- 5/5
Great location and lovely hotel.
- 5/5
We loved everything about this cozy hotel. Since we had two teenagers traveling with us, we booked a 2BR suite. It was so convenient to have two bathrooms, and the common sitting area in our suite was useful as well. We didn't have much of a chance to use the balcony or the roof top seating area but both were lovely with comfortable seating. The location of the hotel is perfect for us, and the continental breakfast was truly delightful. Every staff member we encountered was friendly and helpful, and we will absolutely return. Even our teens were impressed!
- 4/5
Got my room early, friendly staff. Very clean room. A/C in room was terrible. Took a long time for hot water as well. Overall good not great.
- 5/5
Really nice staff and the property was clean.
- 5/5
This hotel was excellent. Very clean and quiet rooms, the entire hotel smells nice as well. Attentive staff, lovely dining areas within the property, close to many great restaurants and bars. We plan to stay here again.

What an amazing stay! Every thing was wonderful, so convenient to bars, restaurants, shopping. The staff was great, hotel very clean and very welcoming. I will definitely be back!
- 5/5
Loved the location
- 5/5
Great property.
- 5/5
We had a rainy day but the hotel had many umbrellas available for guests to use, which was super convenient. It was close to the subway system, Times Square and all of the major theaters. When we return to NYC, we will look to stay at Hotel Scherman again!
- 5/5
Room was charming. Very clean. Great view from rooftop lounge. Would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Loved this boutique hotel. I felt like I was traveling in Europe. I was a person and not just another booked room. I will stay there every time.
