Air conditioning was dirty full of hair and food , room was noisy and smell like smoke

Got a smoking room although I booked a none smoking room mattress had bumps and the sheets old n discolored.

People smoke all over the place. Smell of cigarette smoke inside the room so strong that it's hard to be inside. Really loud place, people scream in the hallway.

Smallest TV , I’ve ever seen in a room . Bathroom and bedsheets, it’s clean as a not so pricey hotel . The small fridge in my room was not working , but staff was very nice and attentive to all my needs . Overall everything was clean .

The staff was lovely, the man at the front desk was very nice and accommodating. I just wasn’t keen on the area and I feel that the room didn’t look like the picture much. Decent for a cheap stay if you have no where else to go. Not the worst place ever, it was clean but the lamp and headboard need replacing from wear and tear

There was fur and blood in the bed when asked for new sheets and for the hotel staff to look at the issues with the stains and she they immediately became argumentative refused to look and threatened to kick us out.

I enjoyed my stay there. Nice location. It was obvious the rooms were updated, but the only drawback was when I first walked in was a strong cigarette smell. Kept a window open and it subsided. I assume it is in the wall paint from before. Might want to address that. The next time I visit New York I will probably stay at the same place.

At first when i was going to the location of the hotel it look ghetto but when i got there was really surprised how clean the hallways the rooms the smell of the hotel was great i wll visit again keep up the good work ..

This hotel was sketchy and rundown. The toilets were disgusting and my room door looked like it had dried blood on it. The sheets and towels were stained and had holes despite being washed. It was very loud. Only good thing was there weren't any bugs. I would not recommend.

Staying here was last minute & it wasn't terrible. Room was small, clean, although could see several burn hikes in sheets at the window. Staff was pleasant, even called me to check on me prior to arrival in an unfamiliar place. Surrounding immediate area less than expected

I checked out earlier than expected I was waken up to arguing in the hallway traffic in and out of the rooms when I did check out there was nobody there to receive my key there was a huge cup of liquor in the front lobby didn’t feel safe with my vehicle parked on the street

I had a dirty room dust all over the top of the bed and the secind room they gave me therw was a roach crawling beside my face on the dresser i had to sleep in my car all night due to seeing that roach i took everything out that room and slept in my car now im waiting for my refund from this hotel .

They Charged Me Full Price After I Explained I Couldn’t Stay I Was Coming Intown To Visit and Leftd Same Day So I Didn’t even Get A Chance To Enjoy The Room . Never Even Checked In. Paid Online and That Was It. Still Waiting On Refund.

Good transit and food options immediately outside of hotel. Including a deli that made an egg & cheese roll with much needed smoothee 3:55 am after train and bus ride back from manhattan.

This property was misrepresented on Expedia. There were NO accessible rooms (which I specifically paid for), NO queen bed as advertised (only a full size), and NO one at the front desk at 6:00am for checkout. Plus, the front door was unlocked all night and it was NOT safe with anyone coming in and going about the place at will at all hours. One night stand was only 8 inches wide and we had to "scoot" along the wall to get into or out of the bed on that side. AWFUL experience.

This type of establishment adds value to the neighborhood. The property itself was clean and seemed quite secure and safe in a busy urban neighborhood.

The room is a tight fit. It was clean with minimal extravagance. A microwave probably couldnt fit in the room in one was to be provided. Having a fridge was helpful.

The room was just enough space for 1 person and luggages. All of the bed sheets were stained with multiple stains, lots of hairs on sheets and towels, and cigarette burns throughout the bedding and curtains.

I stayed for one night and it was fine by me. It is indeed very loud outside and you can hear it through the window.

I've stayed at Rockaway Hotel a few times for it's an economical option. The rooms are in need of repair and the excessive noise from both inside and on the street can be much at times. The neighborhood has a poor reputation for it's history of crime and the constant police sirens roaming the streets day and night does not help.

If you booking online, there should be a notice or an alert, saying that you need to have $60 for deposit because the hotel does not accept credit card for the deposit only cash that should be announced ahead before you do the reservation.

No furniture in the lobby. Even just a simple couch to seat while waiting for the ride.

We stayed since it was midnight and there are no refunds and every other place was a drive. But we will never ever visit again.

When I went to the room I was not suspected that. The room looked like that the bed was not made like somebody was in this room already, The man said he don't have nothing else.It was overcrowded okay so I left...... I could not get my money back. I lost out money.....

This was my first time at this establishment. The location is surrounded by commercial property and NYC Housing. The area had absolutely no venues to purchase food. The closest location to find food is about 1.5 miles away. Upon entering the hotel, you are welcomed with signs informing customers that no guests were allowed and there is only one person to the room. But the best sign was the one about prostitution not being allowed at the facility. This gives you an idea of the type of residents of this establishment. The room assigned was for a wheelchair customer. The noise from the street was unbearable at times, and the cover of the radiator fell to the ground because it was poorly repaired from the previous repair.

Room itself and bed was clean, the ac/heater unit smelled of burnt electronics which caused the whole room to smell as well, filter on unit was plugged with dust bunnies. Not much in the way of amenities, just your room (with only enough space to walk around it), if you want to do any food prep, there's nothing except a tiny microwave in the basement.

the staff was so kind! we were rushing out the door in the morning to make a train and they seemed super understanding and helpful with checkout.

It was close to the Subway station and a few other shops around the area easy to get to and hang out.

I needed a place to crash for the night while in NYC. It’s cheaper than the rest and just a walk away from the subway. Nothing fancy, just a bed and a bathroom. Would definitely book again

Sketchy area, loud with sirens all the time

First, the room was in unacceptable condition. The bed was not properly made, the pillows were visibly dirty, and the curtains were torn and marred with dirt and burn marks. The bathroom had an unpleasant odor, as if it had not been cleaned, and the blow dryer was non-functional. The refrigerator did not work, and the closet was unusable due to a broken armrest. Additionally, there were no hangers, iron, or ironing board available, which added to the overall inconvenience. These issues, combined with the apparent lack of attention to cleanliness and organization, suggest a serious lack of respect for guests. This is not just an oversight—it points to systemic negligence. I would not recommend this establishment under any circumstances. In fact, I strongly believe it warrants an investigation by the appropriate authorities, such as the Better Business Bureau, to address these glaring deficiencies. This location is in dire need of significant improvements or potential closure to prevent further dissatisfaction and inconvenience to future customers.

Where to begin... The hair on the towels, the giant booger on the wall, the 3 signs in every hall prohibiting prostitution, all the cigarette burns on the bedding and the plastic bag taped around the smoke detector... the hotel itself was pretty grimy. The mere mention of the neighborhood strikes fear into the hearts of New Yorkers, but I found it interesting and vibrant. It must be the only corner of the city left completely untouched by gentrification, which was a breath of fresh air TBH! Close to both the L and 3 trains, which is nice.
