Reviews
Guests consistently praise the hotel's staff for their friendliness and helpfulness. The location is also frequently mentioned as a pro, being quiet yet conveniently close to Grand Central Station and other attractions. However, the lack of free Wi-Fi and the quality of breakfast are common complaints.
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Convenient and quiet location
- No free Wi-Fi
- Poor quality breakfast

Quite and classy property, roof top, and restaurants .

Spotlessly clean property, with professional and helpful Staff. I love this hotel — a quiet oasis in the bustle of Midtown. A hidden gem
- 5/5
My favorite New York hotel. It is my home away from home. Centrally located, serene and supremely comfortable.
- 2/5
Nasty check-in and manager, uncomfortable, small foam pillows and very low to the ground toilet not suitable for high-end Park Ave. hotel!!!
- 5/5
What a great stay at the Prince Kitano! We stayed one night for my birthday and the staff was so kind. They upgraded our room - we were on a high floor and had a view of the Empire State Building, and they sent chocolates up to the room with a birthday card. It was very thoughtful and the kind of thing that separates a good hotel from a great hotel. The room was very clean and the shower had amazing water pressure (nbd to some, but huge for me). Towel warming rack and Toto toilet were an added bonus. Windows are soundproof - you can crank them open slightly if you want to hear the city noise, but when closed, you couldn’t hear a thing. We were out and about all day, the location is central to so much. After a long day, the rooftop bar was a nice way to end the night. Breakfast was included in our booking, which was excellent - high quality options and great service. Overall, highly recommend.
- 5/5
Amazing. As usual. Love staying here
- 5/5
Always a warm and luxurious experience! I look forward to my next visit!
- 5/5
We found the Prince Katano a wonderful oasis from the sweltering 90+ degrees of NYC. The rooms are spacious and have a mid century Scandi meets 1970s Japan feel. Maybe a bit old fashioned for some, but we loved it. The staff are amazingly helpful and accommodating. The AC broke in our room, and they immediately upgraded us to a suite. The rooftop is lovely with views of the Empire State, Chrysler. The food surprisingly good for nibbles. The breakfast buffet with the combo of Japanese and traditional American fare is delicious. The miso soup and daily fish are exceptional. Did not get to the downstairs restaurant, but will definitely go back.
- 5/5
Staff were excellent, unfortunately the Restaurant and bar at were not open the Sunday or Mondays which was unfortunate.

back!
- 5/5
Great location and very friendly staff. The room was comfortable and had many thoughtful details that made the stay feel more enjoyable. For example, I liked the heated towel rack, washlet-style toilet, and the bright bathroom lighting. The hotel felt clean and comfortable. Overall, I had a very pleasant stay. Soundproofing was decent but not perfect. The hotel did a great job blocking outside street noise, but noise from the hallway or neighboring rooms could occasionally be heard.
- 5/5
Very good hotel in a great location.
- 5/5
I stayed at this hotel in Manhattan during New Year’s for about three nights, and it was a fantastic experience. The room was really comfortable, quiet, and had a luxurious feel, all while keeping a distinctly Japanese vibe. If you speak Japanese, you’ll feel right at home, since most of the staff are Japanese. They also honor traditional Japanese New Year customs, which was really special. I also loved the area right on Park Ave in midtown. Definitely booking again!
- 5/5
Excellent location for business and leisure. Centrally located between Grand Central Station and Penn Station. The cleanest hotel beating the Ritz and The Plaza. My new favorite NYC destination.
- 4/5
Wet nice hotel in a great location. Staff was excellent. Roof top bar beautiful and buffet breakfast very good.
- 5/5
Location location location! Front desk was amazing! Miki anticipated my requests and made my stay perfect No answer!
- 3/5
The location and view of the Empire State Building was great The beds were very uncomfortable and the shower pressure and temperature was horrible. Was very cold for first 4 minutes and then extremely hot. The rooftop bar advised to be open until 12 but we ordered one drink at 10:45 and told it was last call and kitchen was closed to order a late night appetizer
- 3/5
We spent three nights and thousands of dollars at this hotel, only to be disappointed when they didn’t even provide us with two bottles of water upon our check-out. Also most of the staff had attitudes.
- 5/5
Awesome hotel! Beautiful room, great bathroom with the electric bidet toilet and so quiet at all hours with the soundproof walls. I would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Amazing hotel. Love everything about it
- 5/5
I absolutely love everything about this hotel and its wonderful staff. The location is great and the rooms are spacious.
- 5/5
Great stay, friendly staff, beautiful room comfortable bed, not far from the hustle and bustle of the city.
- 5/5
Great rooftop!
- 5/5
We booked 3 rooms for a high school reunion. The staff was super polite, the rooms were amazing. The bar was great. Highly recommend the hotel.
- 5/5
The staff were fantastic, friendly, and very accommodating. The old school coil mattress in our room was extremely bouncy and sagged a lot, we asked for a room with a newer and more firm mattress. They checked each room for us and found one with a newer mattress, we moved into it after the first night. The night manager was also very friendly and gave us amazing suggestions for dinner options around the hotel. The hotel breakfast was pretty good and very convenient to get started in the morning. The location was also very convenient, close to major attractions but far enough that it was quiet and felt like a retreat after being around tourists and the hustle and bustle of NY. We stayed for four nights total and would definitely consider staying here again.
- 5/5
Excellent jewel near grand central , don’t miss the rooftop if you are there and the breakfast staff is outstanding

Kitano is our new favorite hotel. Excellent in every single aspect. The staff were lovely, attentive, and went above and beyond. We will definitely stay there again and again. It was so lovely that we extended multiple times in a row.
- 4.5/5
Hotel was well-located. Staff were helpful, and the room was comfortable The Wi-Fi was weak and unreliable throughout the hotel, and the room’s bathroom didn’t have an exhaust fan or other means to clean steam off the mirrors and surfaces. Other than those two minor nits my stay was excellent.
- 5/5
Exceptional
- 5/5
So clean and convenient, and the best hotel breakfast around. Our “go-to” hotel in Manhattan.
- 5/5
Wonderful!

- 5/5
Amazing stay once again at this place. So much thanks to the entire staff and the manager at the front desk.
- 3/5
outdated bathroom. Steam shower just means there is no fan.
- 4/5
The location is very convenient. The staff was kind and helpful. The breakfast has Japanese rice and miso soup.
- 5/5
Superb hotel
- 5/5
Very thoughtful amenities, you are provided with an umbrella within the room along with bathrobes and slipper which came in very handy on a rainy day in NYC. The room is clean and well organised and bathrooms come with a very nice tub. Plus points for the toilet having a bidet.
- 5/5
The breakfast buffet is amazing! Wonderful options and service. Cool jazz in the background! 😍
- 5/5
Professional staff, full breakfast buffet of excellent quality, great location!

The dining option were disappointing…The Japanese restaurant wasn’t open yet and the 66 Rooftop bar was closed over the weekend including Monday. The breakfast buffet was disappointing as well. The rest of the hotel was fabulous!

Prince Kitano was an exceptional stay for me.
- 5/5
Entire staff was friendly and helpful. We loved our stay and will be back soon. Location is great , convenient to Times Square as well as Grand Central.
- 5/5
Great rooftop bar/restaurant.
- 5/5
An older property, so furnishings, carpeting etc showing their age, but clean and quiet. Rare to experience a quiet night in NYC, but the solidly built hotel filtered out almost all noise from our 8th floor room. All staff friendly and helpful. What a delight. Breakfast buffet has something for everyone and staff is attentive. Great stay. Only negative is the annoying activity surcharge - just roll it into the room rate already. Would return.
- 5/5
Restaurant staff- not as friendly. Facilities were very clean.
- 3/5
The staff is super friendly - unfortunately the hotel didn’t meet my expectations…use to be gorgeous
- 5/5
Quiet and great location

- 5/5
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Prince Kitano once again. I have visited the Kitano several times in the past 5 years, so I am already familiar with the stellar service they provide. I loved the junior suite I stayed in. It was clean, cozy, and perfect for my stay. I also consider the breakfast at Hillside Cafe to be quite delicious! Thank you to everyone at the Kitano property! I look forward to visiting soon.
- 5/5
Great breakfast, and the bar is lovely, too!
- 4/5
Room was average but clean, staff very friendly
- 5/5
Rooms were extremely clean and everyone we interacted with on the hotel staff was exceedingly friendly. The location is also ideal for anyone traveling to or from Grand Central Station. Will definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
We also very much enjoyed the hotel restaurant . Thank you for making our stay a Great One!! We will be back
- 3/5
I don't understand the facility / services charge I was hit with upon checkout. It was excellent until then.
- 5/5
The midtown location is convenient to Grant Central and Penn stations if you travel by train and close to major subway lines.
- 5/5
Breakfast was fresh and services very good and attentive.
- 5/5
It offered good selection however some items were missing by 9:00am like no more croissants
- 5/5
Lovely selection at breakfast; clean room and very quiet; lovely staff
- 5/5
It’s NYC but quiet. The rooms are a decent size and it has the best kept rooftop bar secret in the city (don’t tell anyone :)).

Little outdated but comfortable bed. Clean room. A little warm
- 5/5
Outstanding hotel, we highly recommend it. Staff were excellent and very friendly. Room was very clean and quiet. We will definitely go back to this hotel.
- 5/5
We loved the rooftop bar, and the views. Every single person we talked to from the hotel was exceptionally nice and very helpful. Would highly recommend this property. We look forward to staying here again.
- 5/5
Great location. Big room especially based on NYC standards. Our package included daily breakfast which was a nice way to start the day. Very professional staff.
- 5/5
Quiet, great location, very friendly staff, beautiful rooms, comfortable beds and great Japanese breakfast. Everything was great!
- 5/5
Excellent staff excellent Location
- 5/5
Everything was perfect.
- 5/5
Very well managed hotel with attention to detail. Location is appealing. Value for price. We stay there often on trips to Manhattan, and have always been satisfied. On an evening with clear skies check out the rooftop bar, with very well crafted cocktails.
- 5/5
This is the perfect hotel if you want close to things (Grand Central is two blocks) but still very quiet and with a rooftop bar that is amazing. The breakfast is spot on but there is a great bagel place one street over so you can relax or grab and go. Great experience, will absolutely be back.
- 4/5
Clean room but dated. Breakfast meal didn’t change much day to day. I appreciate the toto toilets
- 5/5
This was one of the best hotel stays I've had in awhile. The staff was amazing from beginning to end, so courteous and the amenities were top notch. Highly recommend
- 5/5
Estuvimos una semana. Todo impecable. Staff súper friendly. Limpieza. Comodidad de la habitación.
- 5/5
The staff were so helpful and the breakfast was fresh and delicious. The room was clean and welcoming.
- 5/5
The breakfast was fresh but didn’t have much variety day to day. The rooms were clean but a bit dated. The lamps had to be turned on individually and there wasn’t an exhaust fan in the bathroom. The location is great and the rooftop bar is amazing with great views. Would definitely come back if needed to come back to NYC
- 5/5
Wonderful service and delicious breakfast.
- 5/5
The room was very clean, quiet and nice. The staff was attentive to anything you needed. Would highly recommend staying there and plan to return in the future.
- 5/5
incredible helpful staff
- 4/5
The bathroom however needs some help. The shower when on leaked through the seems letting water all over the floor. The roof top bar was closed. I choose this hotel for the roof top bar and was disappointed.
- 5/5
The room was immaculate and had very lovely amenities. The staff (housekeeping, front desk and breakfast Cafe) were very friendly an courteous. WiFi was strong, I had no outages.
- 5/5
Wonderful staff, wonderful location, wonderful hotel. Will repeat. For the price it doesn’t get any better in Manhattan
- 5/5
Great place. Professional staff, fantastic location
- 5/5
Lovely room good WiFi connection
- 3/5
The room was clean and the cleaning staff was prompt. However, the beds and one pillow per person we were given were probably the most uncomfortable we’ve ever slept on. We were also consistently given 2 towels for our family of three. We will definitely stay elsewhere the next time we come to NY.
- 5/5
Always immaculate, always friendly, very convenient and quiet. Will always come back.
- 5/5
I loved my stay at the Kitano, it was beautiful and had the room with the view of the empire state of building and nothing compares to that the full length mirror could’ve had better lighting next to it for pictures and the bathroom was massive.
- 5/5
Always a nice stay!
- 5/5
Not an issue for me, it was not a business trip.
- 5/5
Great location and staff. Nice rooms.
- 5/5
They have a relationship with a local gym that is excellent
- 5/5
Wonderful staff. My new go to hotel in nyc.
- 4/5
Fast wifi connection. Breakfast buffet has American and Japanese selections at $40 per person. Room is pretty spacious and bathroom has good amenities.
- 5/5
Lovely hotel, will stay again
- 5/5
Great location
- 5/5
Rooftop was not available
- 4/5
Good room, helpful staff, basic facilities
- 5/5
Super clean, staffs are very kind, wonderful breakfast with a touch of Japanese. Close enough to reach many attractions with taxi or uber. Peaceful area without noise. Wonderful!
- 5/5
Very good location. Excellent service! Free Wi-Fi. Clean room.
- 5/5
Great staffs! Ms. Miki had already prepared for my check-in by carefully selecting a room based on my preferences. I love to go back to Kitano NYC because of it. Warm and friendly staff and clean guest rooms. Thank you!
- 5/5
Hotel rooms are larger than typical in NYC. The staff is helpful and friendly. Location is in a quiet and safe neighborhood several blocks south of Grand Central station. Also, walking distance to 5th and Madison avenues with good bus service and subways a few blocks away.
- 5/5
- 5/5
The place was very good. Check-in was great, the staff was great, access to a local gym was very good and the breakfast buffet was excellent.
- 4/5
Excellent staff Rooms are “tired”
- 5/5
Great location
- 5/5
Great staff and lovely clean room with a sense of Japan.
- 5/5
The hotel offers a rare sense of calm in Midtown Manhattan. My room was spotless, quiet, and very spacious by NYC standards, with extremely comfortable bedding and thoughtful details throughout. Despite the central location, it felt like a peaceful retreat above the city. Service was professional, warm, and efficient from check-in to checkout. The staff were attentive without being intrusive, and housekeeping was excellent. A refined atmosphere, great location, and consistently high standards — I would absolutely stay here again.
- 4/5
Location is incredibly convenient (blocks from Grand Central), hotel safe and serene. Little touches (like a daily $20 credit to room service) made the experience that much easier.
- 5/5
Always clean, comfortable, staff are amazing!
- 5/5
Yes.
- 5/5
Staff....cleanliness.....quiet...it all gets 5 stars
- 5/5
spotless, comfortable and wonderful staff
- 5/5
All good
- 5/5
The staff were all fantastic. The rooms were clean, spacious and the hotel was so convenient to everything we needed.
- 5/5
But... the shower was weak and the practice of adding a daily facility fee but then a breakfast or lunch credit... is a hospitality practice beneath a properly as well-run and upscale as this!
- 5/5
The staff is fantastic- always a nice experience checking in.
- 4/5
Very pleasant staff
- 5/5
Very nice staff, clean room, quiet and calm environment, great location— will return!
- 4/5
Staff courteous and accommodating.
- 5/5
Great staff, great location, clean, quiet, comfortable.
- 5/5
Love every minute at the Kitano!
- 5/5
Walking distance to Grand Central; staff was very accommodating
- 5/5
My favorite hotel in the city! Hotel staff is courteous and helpful. The rooms are always spotless. The location could not be better for me. A 5 minute walk to Grand Central ( very convenient to get to anywhere in the city.
- 5/5
Great location. Friendly staff. Breakfast was convenient.
- 5/5
Excellent
- 5/5
Everything is simply superb
- 5/5
Spotless room, great reception service, courteous staff. Lovely!
- 5/5
We could see the Empire state from our bedroom window! The view from the roof top bar shouldn’t be missed, really fantastic. Especially of a night. I would definitely stay at this hotel again. We have been to New York twice before this trip, this is definitely our favourite for location and the Hotel.
- 3/5
Needed updating. Couldn’t get the hot water to work.
- 5/5
Just wish they would provide a newer and stronger hairdryer in the room
- 5/5
Loved everything about it: beautiful room, superior staff, attention to detail, quality amenities. Won’t stay anywhere else in NYC.
- 5/5
Excellent staff everywhere, sparkling clean, quiet, wonderful amenities, super location. We were treated like royalty. Will never stay anywhere else when in NYC
- 5/5
Very friendly staff. Immaculate room.
- 5/5
Everything excellent. Superior staff, beautiful comfortable room, sparkling clean. My new top choice fit NYC hotel.
- 5/5
Everything was pleasant and everyone was helpful and friendly. We had a wonderful time.
- 1/5
But that staff was just plain rude. Yes they offered coffee upon sitting down and explained the “buffet” but the food was the same as a 1star breakfast at any hotel. Nothing special nothing new. Loved my room attendant. He was great!!! Offered us some nice conversation and some extra water. Front desk staff always seemed like they couldn’t be bothered. Stay was fine but not for the new year price. But if you’re bigger then 5’5” don’t bother with a “double room”. Probably the smallest beds in any hotel I’ve been to.
- 5/5
Everything about our stay was excellent. Starting from the welcoming and courteous staff,to the cleanliness and comfort of the room every thing was absolutely great. Extra points for the bathroom amenities (heated toilet seat and bidet, towel warmer, etc.) and the outstanding buffet breakfast that included Japanese items for a pleasant surprise. The rooftop also offered a fantastic view. We will definitely be staying at this hotel any time we'll be in New York!
- 5/5
Very clean and a great breakfast
- 5/5
Excellent hotel
- 5/5
Great breakfast, very clean room, excellent service and amenities. Couldn’t be happier w the whole experience-thank you!
- 5/5
So clean and really kind staff. Delicious breakfast too!
- 5/5
Great location, best hotel shower ever!!!
- 5/5
Great room, staff and the breakfast was amazing! Brought the entire family and we would stay there again.
- 4/5
Excellent location
- 4/5
Spacious and luxurious room, conveniently located, easy to catch transport (it's not in the middle of the congested areas).
- 5/5
Service was fantastic. Super clean and quiet. Really nice roof top.
- 5/5
Best hotel in nyc
- 5/5
This hotel is ion a great location and the staff were friendly and very helpful. We will definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Clean room and amenities, great decor, quiet
- 4/5
Overall we would stay at The Prince Kitano again.
- 5/5
Clean classy hotel. Helpful and corteous staff. Close to public transportation
- 5/5
Clean room, friendly staff, great location. Definitely stay there again.
- 5/5
The Kitano is a great hotel. Especially for solo women travelers! Great location great rooms great staff
- 5/5
Mom and Daughter trip to NYC for the holiday. From our first greeting at the front desk until checkout, we were pleased. Rooms are very clean, great location
- 3/5
If you should stay at this hotel will you have heating/ cooling issues? Will you pay almost $1000 and be given a room on the 7th floor We won't return to this hotel. Too many little surprises. John C Annapolis MD
- 5/5
シャワーやお風呂のお湯の量がたっぷりで それには驚きでした。 日本人としてはトイレにウォシュレットがついてるところがポイントアップ!
- 5/5
Would definitely recommend
- 5/5
Best hotel buffet breakfast in NYC and so convenient, warm and inviting. A home away from home.
- 5/5
Great hotel! Great room! Great location!!
- 5/5
Good and kind
- 5/5
A piece of paradise on Park Ave!! Impeccable service and a quiet relaxing hotel super close to the hustle and bustle of Midtown.
- 5/5
The breakfast had a good variety of breads, cereals, hot foods and traditional Japanese breakfast.
- 5/5
The room was comfortable and clean with a nice view. Not a direct view of the Empire State Building, but it was clearly visible at an angle. It was lovely when it snowed. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We will definitely consider staying here again.
- 5/5
Beautiful room, accommodating staff, and great location. Japanese breakfast food was very good.
- 5/5
space and amenities in room made for a cozy stay
- 5/5
Service was excellent
- 5/5
Absolutely my favorite hotel in NYC. I travel to the city weekly and the Prince Kitano is my #1 choice for business and personal travel. Staff are impeccable, incredible design and rooms, and DO NOT skip the breakfast!
- 4/5
Great staff and super clean room. Location was great for exploring on foot.
- 5/5
Helpful front desk- Nice room- Complimentary breakfast!
- 4/5
The rooms were spacious and clean, and the hotel staff was very accommodating. Our only complaint was having to pay an additional $50 per night for a rollaway bed for our son. It was quite uncomfortable and felt like it should have been included in our stay. Other than that, great location for Christmas in NYC.
- 5/5
i didn't have the time for breakfast
- 5/5
great location, quite and clean rooms, comfortable bed, excellent customer service.
- 4/5
Room is great but dusty. Only one set of slippers and robe provided for a two-people booking. Breakfast was delightful with Japanese Buffet. Prime location, just a few blocks from Bryant Park and 5th Ave. Great stay but not impressive enough to be back.
- 5/5
Rooms are really nice and clean. The building is a bit old though and the property would stand to benefit to upgrading the doors on each room to improve auditory privacy. Thankfully it’s a nice upscale hotel so everyone stays pretty quiet and you don’t hear much through them.
- 3/5
Not a five star
- 4/5
So serene, love the quiet rooms even on park. Great decor and vibe, helpful staff. Bathroom was a litttle beat up.
- 5/5
Clean, great staff and location.
- 5/5
Wonderful hotel and staff
- 5/5
Clean room, fantastic service
- 5/5
The staff was so professional and friendly. The room was spotless and very comfortable
- 3/5
Lighting is poor. Mattress is very soft. USB port in room is not readily visible. Arrived 11:30 am, concierge said he will call me when room is ready. He disappeared and never called me. I went to the desk at 1:30 pm and I checked in with a different concierge. The room is dated. The lobby is dated with black frayed couches and uncomfortable chairs.
- 5/5
Rooms are extremely comfortable and well maintained. Staff very friendly and helpful. Location perfect.
- 5/5
Very helpful and friendly staff. Love the location. Rooms are dated in decor but are super clean and kept up nicely. We had no problems with our room. The walls are thick and you cannot hear anything outside of the room. Very peaceful respite despite being in the middle of the city!
- 4/5
Very clean rooms, but felt a little dated, phones, bed and lamps could be updated. But everything worked well enough. Great location! The rooftop bar had an amazing view.
- 4/5
Overall very nice
- 5/5
Breakfast staff was very efficient
- 4/5
Room was spotless. Valet parking took a half hour to get car.
- 4/5
The Prince Kitano has excellent management with a keen eye on the important details of hospitality management that ensures that everything clicks smoothly in an understated but exquisite way. Its excellent location in Park Ave, just a few blocks down from Grand Central is also a definite plus.
- 4/5
The Prince Kitano is a decent midrange hotel if you want to stay near Grand Central. Rooms are clean and surprisingly quiet. Bathrooms are well appointed. Ironically, the older rooms have more comfortable desk chairs, extra chairs for sitting and more space for eating than the remodeled (upgraded) rooms. I'd definitely recommend a "downgrade" and ask for a room on the side of the building rather than one facing Park Avenue. The side rooms are a little more spacious. Hotels.com perks for preferred members include free breakfast, which features Japanese items but is only ok, not great. Front desk staff were friendly, though they forgot that the perks were supposed to include complementary upgrades based on availability. By Japanese standards, a high-end "business" hotel rather than a "luxury" hotel. Overall a solid choice for a New York hotel.
- 2/5
not even worth explaining.
- 5/5
The Prince Kitano in New York impressed me with its excellent service. The staff were so helpful and friendly. The room was small but spotless and well-appointed. I loved the little touches like the heated toilet seat and complimentary breakfast when booked through Expedia. What really sets this hotel apart is the outstanding service.
- 5/5
The rooms were clean and well appointed.
- 5/5
Excellent
- 5/5
I do wish that the beds were queen-sized instead of doubles, as that made it hard for me to have a really great rest, given my wife was on the same bed. But if you prioritize space and a calming experience overall, then The Prince Kitano wins here. It's on a quiet street, but not far from the main attractions in Midtown... about 15 mins walking to Times Square, and 5 mins to Grand Central where you can catch a train.
- 5/5
Very nice hotel ! Clean room with daily service ,polite staff , convenient access to Grand Central/Subway and nice breakfast! Highly recommend and also got a sneak peak on Japanese culture & food !
- 5/5
We loved our stay--the Toto toilets, the high quality service, the Japanese breakfast! Please don't renovate or change the vibe of this place--it is a gem among a bunch of cookie-cutter midtown hotels!
- 5/5
Good location, friendly staff, clean room.
- 5/5
Excellent property with great customer service. Location is perfect and close to everything. Very quiet despite being in the middle of everything. We had a great stay.
- 1/5
Manager was not helpful and rude
- 5/5
Very nice and quiet hotel. Will stay again.
- 5/5
It was very clean and kind
- 5/5
Simple the cleanest hotel with the best amenities in New York City. I love that they also gave us free buffet breakfast which was lovely. And they gave us $20 a day in credits to use for coffee or the roof top bar. The room had a full bath and separate shower, heated toiled with bidet built in, towel warmers, robes and slippers. The bedroom had two huge closets, a large desk for working and a sitting area for guests. What’s not to love about this luxury, clean hotel with great service and great food? We will definitely be coming back to the Kitano!
- 5/5
The staff was great! Location was awesome. And room size and amenities a decent value for NYC - not cheap but certainly not overpriced for NYC.
- 5/5
Incredible staff, beautiful property, a must stay!
- 4/5
The rooms were clean and modern. They snuck in a "resort fee" at the end of our stay, which was very disappointing and unexpected.
- 5/5
We loved our stay here. The hotel was clean and in a perfect location for those visiting midtown during the holiday season. It's so close to Grand Central, Bryant Park, etc. The staff was friendly and parking was easy. We will be back!
- 4/5
Location was great, great view of Empire state building from our window. Room was spotless. The bed was more comfy than my one at home and I've always thought that was the best bed!
- 5/5
Clean and bright room. Comfortable bathroom and nice staff. Good decoration and loved the Botero sculpture in the lobby. Also great breakfast.
- 4/5
Breakfast buffet was mediocre at best and they only have one elevator for all guests in the hotel. Otherwise was good.
- 5/5
It was an excellent VIP experience. I love the amenities and the valet parking, especially the location. It was close to everything and I was able to get some proper rest when I needed it. Clean and sanitized rooms. I was just missing a hair dryer and additional lighting in the bathroom with better in-room coffee.
- 4/5
Hotel however is looking a little tired /old and in need of a refresh- especially the carpeting and the dated bathtub. Lastly, the room lighting could be brighter. Thank you.
- 5/5
Super quiet and clean room with fabulous service and delicious breakfast. The rooftop bar was top notch. Beautiful high end hotel. Highly recommend!!!
- 4/5
Very nice front desk staff. The hotel itself is spotless and the room was serviced at the right time every day. It isn’t charming, or cool, or fresh. But the room rates were very competitive and the room itself totally suited my needs: good sheets, robe, Japanese toilet, very quiet. New York is not a place where I need my stay to deliver more than that. You’re out and about all day anyway!
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel, great location, excellent service, large rooms with wonderful amenities, roof top bar with amazing views. We will be back!
- 5/5
Everything was great--staff, rooms, mellow vibe. Great.
- 5/5
Perfect location! Close to everything but out of the crowd. Spacious and clean rooms. Our room was at the back of the building and so quiet. Service was amazing, the staff at breakfast were top notch. Thank you for a special long weekend!
- 5/5
So warm and welcoming. Staff was gracious and made our stay extremely enjoyable. With gratitude.
- 5/5
Excellent on all levels
- 5/5
Great stay! Would come back again.
- 5/5
Great location. Convenient to both Penn and Grand Central stations. Rooms were clean and the rooftop bar afforded great views.
- 5/5
We had a great stay! Valets/Bellhop Brian & Michael were helpful and friendly, James was hospitable and friendly, and Zack - the GM - went above and beyond in welcoming us to the property and giving me a tour of the spaces so that I was familiar with them for my next stay and in the event I want to host clients at the beautiful restaurant downstairs. I can’t wait to come back!
- 5/5
Spotless hotel with modern amenities.
- 5/5
One of the best hotels I've stayed at in NYC, rooms were cozy and quiet, beautiful, the bathrooms were amazing with the heated toilet. We enjoyed our complimentary breakfast as well.
- 5/5
The room was great. Staff were helpful and courteous. Breakfast was delicious.
- 5/5
Amazing staff with brilliant attention to detail. The townhouse had so much room. We will absolutely stay again.
- 5/5
Great location. Decent room. Helpful staff
- 4/5
Convenient location. GREAT service by door staff, bell service, breakfast staff. My friend's comment was the food was very salty. So suggestion: less salt on the salmon. Low salt miso soup option? room should have recycling vs. trash option for treash. LARGE rooms for NY. LOVE the bathtub.
- 4/5
Room was spotless; staff was the most courteous.
- 5/5
Great service, lovely property, great location
- 5/5
Room spacious, front desk & staff very pleasant to deal with.
- 5/5
Clean room
- 4/5
lovely staff and the bartender Johnathan made a fire ass mule, make sure to visit the Rooftop @ Park
- 5/5
We stayed for four days and had the same breakfast buffet every morning. It would be better if the menu changed daily and the food quality improved. They charge at least $40 per person, but in New York City, you can get a great breakfast at many bakeries or restaurants for that price. One day, I even found a hair in the miso soup. The pastries tasted like they were bought from a generic store and were all stale. However, the hotel is amazing with great staff. I would like to stay there again.
- 5/5
Really enjoyed our stay here. Place is spotlessly clean. Staff are super helpful and polite. Rooms have nice touches like dressing gowns and slippers and umbrellas and tea things. We didn't use the cafe for breakfast so can't comment on it. The backdrop from the roof top bar is amazing but they didn't have blankets that would have been handy this time of year. Our room faced inwards so was super quiet.. no street noise. So handy to Central Station too
- 5/5
Amazing room, friendly and helpful staff and a great location.
- 5/5
Yes very helpfu and room is great
- 2/5
Really average - the worst breakfast I've had in a hotel in NY, common parts in desperate need of refurbishment. Room temperature was set at 84F when I walked it and couldn't open windows to cool it. Wifi in common parts as good as useless (although fine in room). No room service when I checked in at 8, so had to go find myself something to eat. Room service ends at 2pm. A bit of a joke for $600+ a night.
- 4/5
Loved the room, nice bathroom amenities like heated towel rack and bidet toilet
- 5/5
Attended theater for Eugene O'Neill foundation
- 5/5
The room was fabulous and the staff couldn’t have been nicer. Great location in Murray Hill.
- 3/5
The room was quite dusty (see photos) and really lacked ammenities. There was no iron in the room, no hairdryer. The worst part, however, was the bed linens and pillows. I had one soft pillow cover, but one was so incredibly itchy that i had to take it off of the pillow. The pillows were also quite hard and uncomfortable.
- 5/5
The staff were helpful and friendly. Nice room size and clean
- 5/5
Yes
- 4/5
Great location
- 5/5
Clean room, great staff, great rooftop
- 4/5
Beautiful lobby and location. Front desk and housekeeping are friendly.
- 5/5
Great room remodel
- 5/5
The hotel was very close to Grand Central, everyone was very pleasant to interact with, and the room was clean and comfortable. For the price, I would happily stay again!
- 5/5
Convenient location. Walkable to restaurant and shopping
- 5/5
Excellent staff and service
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel in a convenient location. Super friendly staff. We had a wonderful vacation!
- 5/5
Perfect stay at the Prince Kitano. We absolutely loved our stay. Every staff member from the doorman, front desk, breakfast, and housekeeping was courteous and friendly. You can’t beat the location with access to Grand Central only 4 blocks away. The neighborhood around the hotel was safe and clean as well. We will definitely stay at the Kitano again.
- 4/5
The staff was friendly. The hotel put us in a different room because it was overbooked, and it the not match the images on the site.
- 5/5
The staff were incredibly kind and professional, always greeting me with a smile and helping with anything I needed. My room was spotless, quiet, and very comfortable, with everything I could possibly want. I also loved how clean and well-maintained the entire hotel was. The location couldn’t be better — it’s just a few minutes’ walk from Grand Central Station, Bryant Park, and Rockefeller Center, but the area still feels safe and relaxing. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting New York. It’s the perfect mix of comfort, cleanliness, and true hospitality. I’ll definitely stay here again on my next trip!
- 5/5
This hotel is a gem with a highly professional staff. The hotel stands out for clean, comfortable, well-maintained rooms with luxury beds and bed linens, and great shower pressure. Also important is that the baths are equipped with handheld shower heads.
- 4/5
The front desk were amazing! And the Concierge and the bell hops were also terrific. But I’m on a wheelchair most of the time and they were great getting me set up but the night after the housekeeping even though we told them please please please do not change anything because it takes a while to set it up…. The bed, the sheets., the blinds which can’t be done for me because I can’t reach them. I got home to the hotel Saturday night and they did exactly what we told them not to do which we please ask them. Please just to the trash and nothing else. When I got back because I want to a theater show and walked home (with my motorized wheelchair) I got into my room and everything was wrong… the blinds which I can’t reach were opened, the bed was made with beautiful covers and blankets. None of which I can use and I can’t. I cannot get easily all those King blankets and do the duvets because I only have one hand, I put all the baskets in the bathroom and the bedroom so it was on my left side because I don’t have a right side. At 11:30 they were all wrong and I can’t reach them and move them. On and on and it took 45 minutes to get it all back when they just could have left it as I asked to. And I told the morning to and the evening crew and still they did it. It was a disaster.
- 5/5
Overall met all our expectations! Courteously handled all requests we made. Prompt and punctual service.
- 5/5
Clean and beautiful
- 5/5
I liked this hotel a lot. Service was first rate. The rooms and common areas were all tastefully done. Some may find that it tilts more towards Japanese than American (example: tea kettle instead of coffee pot) but this appeals to me.
- 5/5
This property was great!!! Great location, great room and amenities, friendly staff; great location!!!
- 5/5
Beautiful rooms and lobby, very courteous staff
- 5/5
This is the second time we have stayed at The Prince Kitano Hotel, we just love it here. Beautiful, clean, quiet hotel. Roof top bar is just gorgeous. Fantastic area. Can’t wait to stay again
- 5/5
Excellent staff especially their restaurant manager who was kind and hard working! Their bell hop person and front desk people were amazing as well. I would recommend this place to anyone traveling to nyc.
- 5/5
Service10000/10… Excellent Hotel with a View
- 5/5
Wonderful staff. Breakfast was good selection. Love the Rooftop bar
- 5/5
Check in with seamless and the staff was very friendly. The room was very clean. Breakfast was just OK. The rooftop bar and the view was priceless. Will definitely be coming back to stay here again.

- 5/5
Great breakfast buffet! The mattresses need replacing
- 5/5
Family friendly, treated us like VIP
- 4/5
Just ok. Very tired decor. Ciuld use a big renovation. Breakfast was very mediocre. Clean and staff was nice however
- 5/5
We are so well treated when staying there I won’t stay anywhere else when in Manhattan ! Excellent service they know how to make you feel special ! See you next time.
- 3/5
I liked that this was a clean hotel, but I missed that it is a hotel either owned, but definitely operated by Japanese people. We were the only Americans I saw in the hotel. Staff, visitors, they were all Japanese. It was a clean hotel, but the breakfast was awful, but it was quiet and it was in was in a convenient location. I would recommend, but just know going in that it’s not what you may think.
- 5/5
Clean, quiet room. Polite staff
- 5/5
Lovely place to stay! Calm And comfortable!
- 5/5
Friendly, easy check in process, thank you!
- 5/5
My favorite NY hotel.
- 5/5
Omg the staff here is excellent!! Everyone was so very nice and helpful. It’s location is perfect and it’s really clean. Perfect little hotel for a night in the city. Will definitely stay here again.
- 3/5
2. Did not send bottle of water regularly 3. Housekeeping will keep barging in evading privacy 4. Constant pressure to checkout 5. Front desk doesn't know how to greet guests 6. Coffee cups were not cleaned after use 7. No access to roof bar all stay Over all only the quality of room was good but service and hospitality was severely lacking. For this high rate I can find better accommodations.
- 5/5
An absolutely terrific hotel. One of the best in the city.
- 5/5
Great aervice
- 5/5
Great location, outstanding service, very comfortable beds, our regular choice when we visit NYC.
- 5/5
Great location. Great staff. Quiet. Safe.
- 5/5
I had an amazing experience with the staff, who were incredibly kind and generous. I want to particularly commend Ms. Miki for her exceptional attentiveness to my needs. She addressed my requests promptly and with genuine care. Thank you for making my visit so memorable!
- 5/5
The hot water doesn’t work. After letting the water run for 10 minutes the temperature is moderately warm. It’s a building-wide issue apparently
- 5/5
Great small hotel near Grand Central. Would stay here again!
- 5/5
Terrific service at a lovely, clean, well-appointed property in a convenient location
- 5/5
Check in perfetto il ragazzo è stato fantastico
- 4/5
quiet nice hotel. breakfast could be better.
- 5/5
Love staying here
- 4/5
If you have stayed at a Japanese hotel this hotel would not surprise you.
- 5/5
We loved how quiet, clean and safe this hotel was in the city. It is about a 1 minute walk to grand central. This hotel is in such a wonderful location. We highly recommend staying here.
- 5/5
The hotel was very nice and clean. The staff was very nice and accommodating.
- 5/5
Great location
- 5/5
Very friendly staff
- 5/5
The Prince Kitano was very comfortable and clean. We had a two double bed room. The bathrooms were very spacious and had towel warmers and bidets. The room size was bigger for NYC. The hotel is very convenience to Grand Central Station, 5th Ave, etc. The location and hotel didn't disappoint. We didn't use the breakfast that much as it was $40 per person with a $10 per room. There are so many options close by for breakfast that it wasn't an issue. The bus pickups for the Airport were close by. We stayed for the US Open and it was easy to take the train there from this location.
- 5/5
Very nice and friendly front desk. Breakfast could be better. Its everyday the same and low quality. Service is average to low.
- 3/5
Staff was very friendly.
- 4/5
A nice hotel; rooms on the smaller side. Well appointed bathroom with towel warmer and bidet.
- 5/5
Great location to GCS
- 5/5
Large room and bath by nyc standards. Quiet, clean and classy. A bargain for the price!
- 5/5
While it may not be the most cutting-edge hotel, it carries a sense of history and offers a calm, relaxing atmosphere throughout. The service is prompt and attentive, with staff always greeting guests with warm smiles. It feels like experiencing the refined, courteous style of Japanese hospitality right here in New York—a truly commendable hotel.
- 5/5
Really impressed with this hotel, for the price it was fantastic! Room was a good size for a girls trip with my best friend. The bathroom was amazing with a Toto toilet! Staff was friendly and the hotel was clean.
- 5/5
Best staff in nyc.
- 4/5
Nice property. Room was a little aged, but overall, nice clean quiet hotel.
- 5/5
The location of thisbproperty is very convenient. It is steps from Grand Central Station. It is close to subway. It is very walkable. Close to everything. The service in this hotel is outstanding. We had some issues with one of our rooms, but the staff had made other accommodations for us, which were amazing. This isbour favorite hotel in the city. Unfortunately we missed having a drink at their rooftop bar. The view is incredible. We will be back for sure. Amazing service and beautiful hotel.
- 5/5
This has become one of our favorite hotels in NY because of the quality of the the people who work here and the peaceful vibe they create, plus the solid Japanese breakfasts, the great location, and the glorious roof.
- 5/5
We are super happy about the staying experience and definitely will come back.
- 4/5
The rooftop bar was excellent with a great view of the Empire State Building, but we wish it opened before 5 so we could’ve enjoyed it more than one day. The staff were professional and very helpful. Great walkable location.
- 5/5
Spacious rooms, attentive staff, excellent location for our destinations in midtown.
- 5/5
Hotel very clean and staff extremely helpful. Room large for New York from our experiences and very comfortable.
- 5/5
Excellent service & attentive. Great experience staying there
- 4/5
Overall, this hotel was a nice and comfortable stay in an excellent location. Be aware before your visit: Check to make sure you have breakfast vouchers for everyone if that was part of the room deal. We spent time getting that straightened out the first morning. The beds in our room were very firm; there may be softer options. The "do not disturb" signal (a small light by the door latch) was not explained even after several complaints on several days of no service. Front desk service could be improved! Breakfast staff were very helpful.
- 4/5
the receptionist was totally awesome
- 5/5
Great location and service.
- 5/5
It is superb everytime we visit!! The staff is amazing and it is simply faultless.
- 5/5
Fantastic stay. Beautiful room, location, staff. Will come again!
- 5/5
One suggestion: it would be great to have a mini refrigerator in the room. Our deluxe king room had a well-stocked minibar, but there wasn’t any space for us to store our own items. Other than that, we have no complaints. We enjoyed our stay and might gladly return.
- 5/5
Amazing hotel!!! Fantastic service
- 5/5
The hotel was clean and quiet. It was convenient and a short walking distance to Times Square. The beds were comfortable and I would definitely stay here again.
- 4/5
Repeat guest because of convenient location on Park, reasonable pricing and quiet room. (15thfloor)The breakfast included is very good. Rooftop bar/restaurant has beautiful view. Heated Japanese toilets and towel bar. Lovely lobby and staff. Only negative is the refrigerator is a stocked mini bar with no free space.
- 5/5
Valet parking was super easy and worth the price knowing my rental was tucked away. The bellhop was very kind. The front desk staff was also very kind. The rooms are older but clean and just what we need. The AC in the room blasts nicely. We had a view of the Empire State Building…so beautiful at night
- 5/5
SHEER BLISS💖
- 4/5
Great location, very nice staff and it’s very close to a lot of attractions
- 5/5

- 5/5
Love this hotel.
- 5/5
Great Place :)
- 5/5
Very nice and polite
- 5/5
The reason room was peaceful and beautiful. Very spacious. Staff were amazing!!!
- 2/5
Dirty bathroom. Someone’s old/dirty contact lenses on the bathroom floor so obviously it hadn’t been cleaned from previous person
- 5/5
Great location. Wonderful service. Amazing rooftop! The Japanese restaurant, hakubai, is the best-kept secret in NYC!
- 5/5
Loved the property, and it’s location.
- 5/5
Great walkable location, few minutes from Grand Central Station, clean, well equipped and comfortable room. Staff is great.
- 5/5
Very nice staff and easy to walk around to different areas.
- 5/5
Lovely place very Central.
- 5/5
Wonderful service. Attentive staff. Loved our stay there. Will definitely return.
- 5/5
The service and feel of this hotel is the same as hotels in Japan, which are generally excellent. Highly recommend staying at this hotel. Quiet area but walkable to all mid-town tourist areas.
- 5/5
The hotel was very clean and the staff very nice and accommodating.
- 5/5
Best place in nyc.
- 5/5
Great service, clean and pleasant. Would recommend and would stay here again.
- 5/5
The aesthetics of the hotel were beautiful. the staff was welcoming and helpful. The bidet toilet in our room was a luxury amenity.
- 5/5
Pros: - the breakfast buffet that was included with our room was absolutely delicious. there was the option of both Western and Japanese breakfasts and being able to pull a little bits and pieces of each was a wonderfully perfect breakfast. our servers were extremely attentive in ensuring our coffee cups were never empty and ensured that plates were cleared expeditiously. - we were lucky to have our room upgraded to an excellent view of the empire state building and on a high floor that kept us from waking up during the night. can i also just say that the bed was sooooo luxuriously comfortable, i didn't want to get out! - the bath amenities were GREAT. typically hotel conditioners dry out my hair like crazy but the ones that The Prince Kitano supplies had my hair sooo incredibly smooth and silky that I just had to ask for more! i've never found an american hotel that supplies conditioner that leaves my hair better than it left it! - we were celebrating a birthday and the staff left a box of chocolates that made us feel so special. Cons: n/a It is so rare to find a hotel that meets all of your expectations and beyond! We will definitely be back!!
- 4/5
The room was clean but my friend and both agreed that, for the price point, it was a little underwhelming. It looked like the inside of any three star hotel I've stayed in before—not luxury. We splurged on a "nice hotel" and ended up feeling like we could have booked a three star hotel and gotten a similar room for less money. That being said, the bidet in the bathroom was definitely nice and made up for the average feel of the room. We had one hiccup where we came back and housekeeping was still tidying up our room, so we had to wait around for like 20 minutes before we were allowed back in. We had been out walking and shopping for over three hours, so I had hoped that was enough time for them to be in and out. The housekeeper was sweet and apologetic so it wasn't a huge deal, just slightly inconvenient when we were so eager to relax and hydrate after being out in the heat for so long. The staff we interacted with were all kind and helpful, and the check-in and check-out process was quick and easy. The Prince Kitano met, but did not exceed our expectations.
- 5/5
The staff were kind and professional. We were allowed to check in half an hour early. Thanks to my Silver status with Expedia, we received complimentary breakfast vouchers. The Japanese-style breakfast was delicious - I chose grilled salmon, rice, miso soup, tamago, green tea, and grapefruit juice, and enjoyed every bite. If anything could be improved, it would be the comforter - it wasn’t as soft as I would have preferred.
- 5/5
Excellent service and included free breakfast buffet for two daily!
- 4/5
The hotel is in a good location and the service is very thoughtful. The only problem is that the room lighting is too dim and the sound insulation is not good, you can often hear the sound of the TV next door, and it is very loud. But overall it is a very good hotel. I would recommend it.
- 5/5
Great front desk staff, excellent location. Clean. Good breakfast buffet.
- 5/5
The room was clean and the staff was friendly. The breakfast didn't worth the price.
- 5/5
Great all around. Bed could have been a bit more comfortable, very springy.
- 5/5
This hotel is my hotel in NYC
- 5/5
it was a great stay! I'd love to come back again
- 5/5
I loved everything about my stay at this wonderful hotel. Every single person was energetic and welcoming. My room was quiet even on the second floor next to the street. Bravo!
- 5/5
An absolute gem. Wonderful service, fantastic restaurants, rooms are a tranquil oasis in the city.
- 5/5
The property was a good location, clean, staff was friendly and accommodating, and the room was a nice size for NYC. Would stay here, again!
- 5/5
I am older, have allergies and asthma and need quiet and yet convenience to get to family and friends. Their service was fabulous, empathetic and kind and responsive to my requests. Breakfast was wonderful, and healthy options.
- 5/5
Always great service at a well-appointed property
- 5/5
Great location, comfortable rooms, excellent view from the rooftop terrace with great drinks and appetizers, good breakfast buffet. Opted to use parking next door as better value than valet. We would stay here again.
- 5/5
Lovely hotel, quiet location, great terrace bar, and close to many attractions.
- 4/5
One of their two elevators were broken the whole time we were there but it wasn’t too bad. Overall not bad but probably wouldn’t go again.
- 2/5
The second thing was how much confusion there was about giving water bottles, and services- you pay 120 dollars at the end for a gym that is not on the property. 20 a day for food etc is also is fake because you do pay for it in end- it is not a credit or whatever they call it. Breakfast and location are the nicest things here. The staff at the bar upstairs is cold, and will not accommodate you if you are just lounging there, even as a guest of the hotel. You need to pay for drinks etc to stay, so it ends up being transactional rather than a restful stay. I mean if I am paying 120 for "services and facilities" why am I ushered out of the bar once I have had my drinks. They literally took my table and chairs away. Bit of a rip off.
