Pendry Newport Beach

No business center! Had to buy a printer to do my work. Rediculous. Even Holiday Inn has a business center. Staff did not clean well.

Room is dirty a suit , no hot water, the stay is terrible. There wasn’t even a bar of or anything in my room. There’s no hot water at all. The elevators are out of code, and and my hand got suck in the elevator for 3 floors. The emergency button on the elevator didn’t work. So I finally was able to get out on the first floor. I went to the front desk, and asked for an ice pack for my injured hand and they said that we have no ice, and we can’t help you.

Staff were amazing! Everyone was very helpful and professional. Our room and bathroom were very clean, beds were super comfortable. Bar area was nice but kept very cold, Lyndsey was really pleasant. The pool area and surrounding area was just ok. Overall was a good experience and would stay there again.

Clean room and property. Very annoying trying to get in and out of valet at night as the lobby bar here is a local watering hole. Valet charges are insane @$74 a night and takes 15-20 mins to get vehicle each time. Worst part is the people coming aren’t even staying at the hotel they live close by and are clogging up valet bad. Coffee bar downstairs is convenient in the AM but also over priced.

What i think i loved the most was the ability to borrow a lincolin from the hotel you need an amenities gift shop. travel toothpaste, hair spray ...little things you cant travel with unless you check a bag and need when you get where youre going.

Had dinner at SET. Make reservations ahead of time or you’ll end up sitting at the sushi bar (which was fine for us). The food was good, the cocktails were not so good. For drinks we go to Bar Pendry, the bartenders really know their stuff and make some damn good cocktails. Was there on a Friday and it was super busy, so have dinner early and get your seat at the bar.

This hotel is beautiful. Rooms are well appointed with newer furnishings. Close to Fashion Island. More selection for dining would be nice. Overall lovely hotel.

I feel bad leaving such a low review however my experience was overwhelmingly frustrating. In general the staff was very nice excluding management and communication Very unprofessional and condescending billing staff. No answers on the phone. Calls dropping after 2 weeks of attempts to correct a duplicate billing including assurances by a manager all would be handled.

Staff can be incredibly rude and stuck up. Especially the hostesses at the restaurant. I wasn’t going to say anything, but it’s mind blowing how rude they are. They need some serious training, being rude and standoffish is not the level I would expect from Pendry. Property and rooms are 11/10 Staff needs serious work. Be nice to people. That simple. Be helpful. Be accommodating.

The room bathroom could be more modern but the shower was great. Service and lobby spaces and pool / tub are great. Top marks to the staff and location.

The rooms are ok but the pool is very outdated. All the lounge chair are old and stained/dirty. The worst is the main lounge/restaurant. It took so long for someone to bring us water, then we had to wait another 10-15mins for a server to come take our order, then 30mins for the foods to come. And that's early in the morning with no hardly any guest yet. For the price that we pay, it does not meet the luxury standard by any mean.

Rooms are well suited and fresh. Restaurant and bars feature well prepared food and drink. Set restaurant was very cool at night in the outdoor seating.

The person at the check in desk was incredibly rude. I checked in at 4pm and was told that my room was not available and that I would have to wait. There was no attempt at an apology or an explanation as to why the room was not ready at check in. I was really disappointed with how we were treated by the gentleman named Jayden at the front desk.

Loved the Paintroom and the staff that offered coloring books and crayons for the kids at the pool.

Room service breakfast was good, the grilled chicken sandwich for a late-night snack was really good. and we dined at SET, it was nice but extremely loud so don't go on a busy night for intimate conversation. And make sure to choose outdoor especially if dining at night. The pool was nicely heated and the jacuzzi at night with the fireplace on was lovely. And there is a "host" bar and fridge, in your room but only for looking lol otherwise you may get a "surprise" on your departure, easily overturned. Had a great time, went for a concert nearby for the weekend and will be back to experience the spa.

Some of the front desk staff were a little curt and some were super nice and helpful.

Hotel is over price and all is about selling liquor and a full mini bar where you can’t even touch the mini bar or you get charged $500. I asked for dog balls three times and they couldn’t bring him. The lights are on a sensor that they all go off at night and it’s a nap barrier free and dangerous so I hurt myself and I asked for ice pack and they don’t even have one all night long there’s parties and it’s totally loud. The acoustics in the hotel has terrible and the installation and the wall walls. You can hear everything never again the worst hotel.

A welcome back would go so far- but I think I will not be spending my money at the Pendry anymore considering there is the Vea just down the street.

Our one night stay was wonderful! The room was very comfortable and clean. The bathroom was very roomy. We had drinks at The Pendry Bar before dinner at SET. Both places were tasty!

The facilities were pristine and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

The situation was only resolved when I escalated it to a manager. The manager provided me with the room I had booked, which had a king bed and a sofa bed. This hotel is positioned as luxury, so I didn’t expect to encounter such problems during my stay. I was also surprised that I was pressured to purchase an upgrade instead of being given the room I had booked.

The staff were all amazing, from the front desk to the employees at the beautiful lobby bar to the bell desk. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfy. The holiday decor was nice as well. This is a great location because you can walk to so many places from the hotel. The pool area is smaller, so book your cabana or get your beds earlier. Enjoy!

The staff was hostile and not helpful when I asked them questions. The room wasn’t as clean as I had expected. The hotel vibe was off. Either the hotel doesn’t suit the people or the people don’t suit the hotel. It’s just a hotel by a mall but it pretends like it’s a trendy upscale place. Really disappointed and overall disgusted by the Pendry. Wouldn’t recommend it for an event, out of town trip or a staycation. Lame.

Set the restaurant at the hotel was very disappointing. The hotesses ( total of 4) were very unprofessional/bad attitude and bad service so I walked out.

We had such a special stay here for our honeymoon and the staff went out their way to celebrate that. It’s a beautiful hotel, spacious, clean and luxurious rooms and easy valet parking on arrival. Wonderful hotel and look forward to going back.

The hotel is in a great location. Down the street from the mall and close to all of our destinations. The only downside is that the vally service can get backed up. There are a lot of people that show up on the weekend. We waited almost 20 mins on a few occasions to get the car. Other then that, you will enjoy the hitel.

My family enjoyed our stay at Newport Beach Pendry. We enjoyed exploring Newport Beach and the surrounding area.

It was a beautiful hotel with excellent service

Interesting crowd. Lot of tats and super cars! Pool was bumpin and the sushi was good at the restaurant. Pool chicken tenders could use some love, not much meat. Service was solid and they gave early check in and late check out.

We user to stay when it was Island Hotel and it had great amenities like an upstairs club. The amenities have changed, the club is no longer there. The fitness center has moved and is no longer as nice as it was. Service in the room was not good. Every day something was missing and we had to call and wait, towels, coffee, ice bucket etc. Outside the pool chairs were dirty. We were not able to get an upgrade or any VIP service. Still an okay place to stay, but not as good as it used to be. Parking is very expensive with $65 a night.

hotel itself and the location are amazing. service stinks - paid for 3 ppl in the room for 5 days and each day we get 2 towels and have to call down every day for more towels. valet is a mess...plenty of people standing around but not organized and takes forever to get your car. this morning 7:15 we texted for the car...we go down and finally at 7:35 i ask the guy and he finally looks at the tablet for the text. just training...just missing good training.

Best hotel

Absolutely loved the Pendry. The restaurant, SET, is incredible — a must-try. The pool is beautiful, and at night the bar turns into a lively nightclub. We had so much fun we hardly left the hotel.

The Pendry in Newport is a happening spot. If you want a lively place to stay, this is it!

Nice hotel

Amenities were great. The gym was fully equipped and space was large enough so you don’t feel crowded. Also has an indoor outdoor feature in case you’re looking for fresh air.

We didn’t like the mob scene in the beautiful bar. We wanted to enjoy a quiet glass of wine at the end of each evening and it was like a NYC night club scene. Otherwise, a great hotel.

Stayed here a few times since the remodel and looks absolutely stunning. Service is also great and the restaurant is convenient and the food is really good. Love the convenience to fashion island. Only complaint is the couch that is supposed to be usable as a fold out is the absolute worst foldout ever. Completely useless and horrifically uncomfortable!!!!

I spent New Years at the Pendry. It was overall wonderful and the staff was excellent all around.

We wanted to get out of LA and went to Newport Beach for the night. Excellent hotel, bar scene. Food was varied and great. Unfortunately it was raining so we didn’t get to check out the pool scene. Will definitely visit again and spend more time at the hotel.

I reserved two rooms with two queens and got what they called an upgrade with one king and pull out couch and other room just had one queen. It was not the right accommodations for our group. They also did not have duvets on the beds. Staff was not very helpful. We were disappointed as we had good things and it did not meet our expectations.

Pendry Newport Beach was amazing and without any doubt a top 5 star hotel, and the Christmas decorations was amazing, only improvement would be that the receptionists could be more friendly and service oriented. Pendry and the in-room dinning could be better.

The hotel is nice overall but the room gets loud noises from the parties going on all night. I paid for a room upgrade so that we are not facing the side of the hotel that the party is going on. It’s 2am currently and the party is still going on and we are all awake because of the loud noise happening at the valet and cars leaving the party. I do not think that we will stay here again unless there is a way to avoid this noise.

Love the location but the room we had was underwhelming and outdated. The door to our room had previously been kicked in and was not fixed so it could have easily been broken into, you could literally see into the room it would not shut correctly. The AC didn’t seem to be working correctly, it said it was 64 but it was probably closer to 72-74. I had high hopes for the hotel and most likely wouldn’t stay there again.

Everything was wonderful! It’s a beautiful place with great drinks, delicious restaurant Set and really special speakeasy. The only thing that was not 5 stars were the bathrooms. With taupe travertine they were not as updated as the rest of the hotel.

Ben from the porter/bag service was really nice and warm. The other thing is we requested for a late check-out for at least 2.30 pm as our flight back to Singapore would be a very long one. We were told that for every hour after noon is $100 chargeable and there was no flexibility. Hence, if we wanted to 3 pm there would be additional charge of $300. With that, I can top up for a bit more and stay an additional night. I can understand if I ask for like 5 pm or so. We have stayed in bigger brands like Park Hyatt, The Ritz and Langham and they all have shown their appreciation for their guests by being flexible and acommodating. It is gestures like that, that makes guests feel appreciated and will spread the word and come back to stay. Conclusion, a hotel that displays racism and not appreciative of its guests. Not choosing Pendry ever again. It is a pity cause it is a well design, aesthetically pleasing hotel with all the right modern contemporary touches and very well located too.
