Lexen Hotel North Hollywood

We were very happy with everything about this hotel. Super comfy bed, clean room, extremely helpful staff. We would definitely stay again

Besides the extremely loud construction across the street that began at 7 AM, this hotel was extremely underwhelming. It looks like it’s relatively new but the key cards didn’t work three times, the room smelled so badly a vinyl I had to sleep with the window open, whatever cable they have is limited and overall it felt like one of those hotels that’s not modern but trying to be modern and just comes off as cheap.

Hotel was actively under construction and I couldn't get out of the elevator and to my room without having to walk through an area being refloored. Loud sound of buzzsaw running from early morning and through to at least 5pm made it very hard to relax and was especially grating when I was trying to get a nap in between outings. Bar was not operational. Room itself was clean and attractive.

Modern styled hotel and rooms. $10 covered parking. Sink faucet made it almost impossible to wash your hands, water stream too close to back of sink. Thermostat in room did not seem to work properly, room was either too hot or too cold. Only ice machine on property was broken 2 out of 3 days. Only 1 towel hook in bathroom. No where to hang hand towel or bath towels. Would stay again, despite minor inconveniences, good price and location

We booked this because we were going to go to a Dodger game and we wanted something inexpensive because all we were going to do is sleep there for one night. We arrived, checked in, then went to the ball game and checked out in the morning. They have coffee and rolls for a continental breakfast which were very fresh and good.

The rooms were great, clean and decent size and they have all day free coffee which was great. We had an incident where the staff did not register a guest's parking and we got blocked; we had to make alternative arrangements for transport which was inconveniencing and there wasn't a response from the manager when we reached out to him on email.

Upgraded myself to a suite because I like room to spread out in the evening with some down time. All of the furniture while giving a modern aesthetic was super uncomfortable including the beds. VERY disappointed that the bar area was not open and they didn't even augment that with a happy hour. Breakfast was just cups of quick oatmeal and some fruit.

The interior of the hotel has been totally updated. Very nice room with a large bathroom. The folks at the front desk were very friendly. The second floor outdoor bar looked nice, but I got in too late to check it out. The hotel didn't really have food on site. Parking under the hotel was limited if you return late, like I did. The area was okay, but nothing really within walking distance. However, the hotel is convenient for exploring the area. I would definitely stay there again.

The Hotel overall was extremely clean and comfortable. The breakfast and coffee machine were just ok as it was a couple of pieces of fruit and oatmeal but that’s better than nothing. The coffee machine worked just ok and had to push the button several times for it to work but again at least they offered coffee. It was a nice inexpensive place to stay with a close drive to universal studios.

The hotel itself was nice. Common areas were clean, updated decor. However our bed was very lumpy… you could see the lumps just looking at it. Not very comfy. Also it was very noisy. There’s construction happening across the street. Not the fault of the hotel but something to note if you are hoping for quiet or like to sleep in.

This hotel has bed bugs. I sent 3 messages to the manager, with pictures of bites and did not receive any response. I need to look out for my fellow travelers. This is a highly rated hotel on hotel.com, and it is a good spot for the cost, but bed bugs + lack of management response means I will never go back.

It’s a good value in this location, it is just the room I stayed in, I woke up to bed bug bites. Front desk asked me to message manager. It’s end of day now, on my check out day, and have not received a response to my bed bug bite pictures I sent them. I want to otherwise give this location a high rating, but I think people need to know there is a bed bug problem, at least in my room.

It was a clean hotel, however we had borrow scent spray for our room. They brought clean towels quickly. Just thought breakfast would be a little bit more things to choose from, other than that I liked the location and the clean room.parking was a little bit limited, lucky it wasn’t too crowded in parking lot, really appreciate the low parking fee.👏

Updated and beautiful rooms, spacious as well. Staff super helpful and always kept common spaces and rooms clean. We got a rental car halfway through our stay and was able to find parking very easily even on weekends. No laundry services, just a fitness center. Appreciated the 24/7 juice, coffee and water though, and the nice rooftop patio. I would love for them to add more entertainment e.g a pool or lounge area and maybe a little more variety in the cold breakfast (just muffins and oatmeal, fruit)? Especially for the price we got it for.

I travel to North Hollywood twice a month for business and this hotel is my go to. Good location, clean and comfortable rooms and the staff is wonderful.

Everything was great. The hotel was nice and clean ans smelled amazing when I walked in which was a nice change. Room was very large and clean with the exception of hand prints around the door frames and around the room. Other than. That Everything was great. Would highly recommend

Easy check in and check out for this hotel. Property is conveniently located near Universal Studios Hollywood. The room was very clean and pleasant, quiet during the day, not so much at night. Parking structure is safe and clean, the balcony is nice despite the construction next door. Walkable distance to shops in North Hollywood.

Still love this hotel but still hate the smell in the lobby. I thought they had fixed it when I first arrived, but alas, not. They use some kind of air freshener that is noxious. It would be 5 stars if that were eliminated.

The room was nice overall nothing fancy but nice clean and comfortable. The hotel was perfext for my family of 4 me and my wife felt relaxed the whole time and the room was as described in the pictures.

Hotel was immaculate. So clean! Lighting was oddly dim and dark at night. It was okay in the daytime with the blinds open. We tried two different air mattresses they provided but they both deflated in the night. So that was a bummer as reinflating in the night woke everyone up twice during both nights were there.

This is a great spot if you need to be in NoHo area. We used it as a 1 night staycation as we needed to be here over 2 days and did not want to drive back and forth to the South Bay. There is a nice 2nd floor patio area with plenty of seating. Coffee and juice in breakfast area available any time and a couple of breakfast items and fruit are put out in the morning. Highly recommend

The stench alone was unbearable—a mix of stale smoke and cheap cologne. There was no hot water, which I assumed was standard for a hotel. The bed smelled of mold and sulfur, and the room was filthy overall. I immediately spoke with the manager and requested a full refund since I hadn’t unpacked and my backpack and suitcase were still with me, but he refused and told me to take it up with Expedia. I expect Expedia to make this right. I travel frequently for work and always use Expedia—please don’t make me switch to a different provider.

The amount of light in the rooms is more like “mood lighting” It also took us 2 days before we realized we could turn the hot water up by pressing the button in the bottom of the knob.

The balcony was not scenic at all. It was added on to the outside of the building.You had to go through a door to use it.And it really didnt overlook anything. The room was clean and spacious, however the bed was so low on the floor, it was hard to get out. The mattress was comfortable but it slight slant. The staff was friendly and accommodating.

We get the suite with the twin bed . Great littel area for my daughter. Rooms are always clean My only complaint is that this time we had to use the heater because its wintwr and cold and the heater made a clicking sound all night that kept me up . I didnt complain because we have never had those issues before and honestly we love this hotel. It was a vit annoying but nit enough to keep me from going back.

There are many great things about this hotel. Friendly staff, great and walkable location, parking and clean room. There were things that were lacking- wifi is not good. Breakfast was not good (only 1/2 of the items available with coffee machine). Toilet flushing was spotty- worked eventually but not at first flush.

The staff was kind, attentive, friendly, and very helpful. The room was absolutely pristine. It was extremely clean and beautifully decorated. The beds were very comfortable. It was a short stay but every aspect of it was comfortable and seamless. The location was convenient for us and the price was very reasonable. We arrived back to the room really late and the parking structure was full. The night clerk went out of his way to help me out by offering to let me park in the spot normally reserved for the security vehicle so that I wouldn't have to come back down a few hours later to feed the parking meter. It was a blessing for which I was very grateful. I can't recommend this place enough. We will stay at Hotel Lexen again. 😀

The room was so cozy and gave such a good vibe. We weren’t huge fans of the water pressure in the shower but would still give it a 10/10 for closeness to Universal and the overall room quality!

very clean and modern room. kind staff and smooth check-in/out. parking situation could be better since there’s limited spots and it’s first come first serve or else it’s street parking. luckily, i got a spot for whole trip each night. shower head could be stronger, it’s very weak. easy to get to universal studios. would stay again next time!

Wasn't there long but everything was clean and comfortable

Everything was nice but the lighting in the room is more moody. I like a nice bright room so I gave it 4 stars. Plus the people above us sounded like they were moving furniture and having a heels class going on and loud music but it stopped by 10pm. Bed was comfortable.

Clean and modern hotel. Pretty boho like design. Very close to Universal Studios. Garage parking is limited, but there is metered street parking. Not the greatest neighborhood, but awesome for a landing base.

What a great hotel. Do not be fooled that this is out of the way in North LA. It is two blocks from the Metro station that you can take to multiple locations in LA without driving and parking. I used it to get to the Jimmy Kimmel show on Hollywood Blvd and Universal Studios. What a fantastic asset to not have to drive and pay for parking!

The room was very clean and nice. The beds were comfortable, we could not figure out how to turn off the AC so it did get cold, but it wasn’t that big of a deal. We only stayed for a night so we didn’t really explore the rest of the hotel. We came for Horror Nights at Universal Studios and liked how it was a short drive away. Many good food options nearby as well. Will be staying here again next year when we come down for Horror Nights!

Stay was pretty good, honestly a lot better than I expected. We stayed in the king deluxe so we had a nice big bed, smart mini fridge a decent size couch, view was of an alleyway but you can’t control that. Only complaint would be the water pressure of the shower was very hit or miss sometimes it would be decent and sometimes the water would be struggling to come out. Another issue would be the parking garage, it’s a very small garage and they park cars on top of each other so you have to wait for a worker to move the car for you. Didn’t know there was a gym or what level the ice machine was on, that would’ve been nice to know and been helpful info in the beginning. Besides this I’m very surprised with how I enjoyed the are. The outside is very sketch but inside is a whole different story. Wouldn’t mind staying her again next year for our annual universal horror nights trip.

This is the 2nd time we have stayed at the Lexen. First of all, it's very clean and convenient for our LA family, so we love that. The bathroom is great - big and light. We had rented one of the suites, which we preferred, but the living room furniture was so uncomfortable that we ended up with lower backaches and stopped sitting on it. It needs to be replaced. We also found that not having a coffee maker in our room may be the game-changer. Having to go downstairs for not great coffee was inconvenient. The staff were very nice and accommodating.

Was surprised at the $250 hold on my credit card, it wasn’t disclosed until after I booked. Same with the construction that was going on across the street. But the hotel itself is nice and clean. Enjoyed the coffee machine in the lobby. The staff was extremely polite and friendly.

The overall appearance and condition of the hotel was run down and tired. The beds were uncomfortable and the A.C. Unit clicked all night and did not hold the temperature. There were absolutely zero amenities.

This is my second time staying at the Lexen, and unfortunately, there were two things that made this day, either less enjoyable or more concerning than the last. The first is that the key card to our room was disabled every night. The front desk insisted it was my cell phone or a debit card that was somehow demagnetizing the key card, despite the fact that I was carrying the card completely separate from either of those I ended up having to go to the desk, two separate times to ask for my keys to be reactivated or new keys to be issued. The second thing is more of a safety concern. I came down at 6 AM on Sunday morning and found that the automatic sliding doors to the parking area were not only disabled, but physically locked. I found the night tenant dozing off in the café area and he came and unlocked the door to let me out. I walked to a coffee shop and within 30 minutes was back to find that I was locked out of the same entrance because he had re-locked the sliding doors. I knocked on the doors and saw him come out of the same area he had been sleeping in before. I confronted him about this and he stated he just doesn’t like leaving those unlocked. The entrance states it is to remain unlocked and violation is against fire code.

The room was very spacious. It was nice with two kids having some space for them to run around inside the room.

Upon arrival I noticed the sheets were not clean I had to ask for new ones. The terrace is nothing like pictured, there’s no turf, no umbrellas, and the couch out there is dirty with some missing cushions. The living room space within the room also now has no coffee table to area rug so it’s just a cold floor with a couple chairs next to the couch. They should have more transparent photos, but if they improved all of those things it would have been a much better stay. The location isn’t great but it’s a place to stay if needed for NoHo.

Good spot for a visit to Universal Studios. We saw reviews complaining about construction noise. It was quite while we were there but we saw the site across the street. Staff was very nice and helpful.

Room was clean and spacious enough for a couple on a quick vacation. Loved the big mirror by the window.

The parking was very reasonably priced at just $10, which was a plus. The room lighting was good, making the space feel bright and welcoming. However, the beds were just average—not the most comfortable, but not terrible either. Unfortunately, the bathroom experience was disappointing. The shower temperature was cold, and the water pressure wasn’t strong, which made it unpleasant to use. Another downside was that the bar was closed during my stay. I was looking forward to spending some time at the bar and the outdoor patio area, so this was a big letdown. If the bar isn’t going to be open regularly, it might be worth considering removing it and maybe adding a hot tub instead, which would be a great amenity for guests. Overall, while the hotel had some good points, there were enough drawbacks that impacted my stay. With a few improvements, this could be a much better experience.

Nice boutique hotel in the heart of North Hollywood. It was in walking distance to some great eateries and services. I loved the Penthouse suite! The room was very comfortable and I really felt at home. I will certainly book this hotel again next year. I am not sure if the courtyard bar was ever open, I would look out as see a few other guests relaxing, but I never saw a bartender. I think that location would be great for private rentals for small gatherings and events.

Great two-night stay! Staff was friendly and welcoming!

Really clean and good atmosphere. My wife is pretty fussy but she liked this hotel. North Hollywood is a little dodgy, but what can you do?

Our room we got was dirty. The bench had stains and it had a weird distinct odor when we walked in.

I honestly loved it we went to universal studios and it was close by 6 min drive staff were so nice Lived the juice and coffee bar would stay here again

Really good place for a non named hotel chain

We love this place. My daughter attends fance workshops 3 times a year in N. Hollywood. The Lecen is close to the studio which i great , the bathrooms in the suites are huge and the rooms are in good condition. We really love that there is a twin bed and gives our daughter her own to come back and rest after a long.day. we were just at the Lexen a.few weeks ago amd have already booked our next stay.

Dining area closed except for a coffee/hot chocolate machine. First day, no coffee. 2nd day, ran out of hot chocolate and front desk employee never got off the couch to look for more. Got an email that parking is limited and breakfast area closed only after I fully booked it. Should have been noted before submitting the payment. Hotel is adjacent to a busy fire station so very noisy with sirens the first night. Not much sleep. But on the bright side, it was a very clean hotel and close to Universal.

Don’t be fooled by the other reviews. This is not a very nice place. I was on a boys trip with my son so we did not make a big deal about things. Had I been with my girlfriend we would have probably had to switch rooms or find another place to stay. Lots of hair everywhere, very loud construction across the street, strong chemical smells….not a nice place.

Room was very clean, great bed, nice linens. Location is walking distance from the North Hollywood Metro train station. Walking distance to many shops and restaurants. Great value for price paid

The property was beautiful, great space, customer service was okay and the surrounding neighborhood was so so.

I have stayed here a few times and enjoyed its functional and comfortable nature. I can’t say I enjoyed my stay this time. There is loud construction happening across from the hotel from 7am. No coffee in the rooms is disappointing. You can order packaged breakfast but not early making it difficult to stay for work trips. The rooms are nice but that’s about it. No other amenities. And with how loud it is now I wouldn’t stay again until construction clears up

Hotel and staff were very attentive. Parking is definitely more for small compact cars and there isn’t very much as far as spaces and room for navigating. Very tight.

Great Place to stay for Universal Studios! Really close to everything.

This is 3rd time at this hotel since it is the closest hotel to the location I need to be in N Hollywood . Rooms are always clean and beds comfortable. Wish they had a simple breakfast buffet with a few muffins and fruit so guests can quickly get on their way. The Chocolate place next door has good coffee and they are very friendly . Always book through Expedia and glad I asked for a printed copy of the bill as this time and the last time they charged for parking which was supposed to be included with Expedia VIP perk. They did credit me after pointing it out. Value for what you get is just average.

Room was spacious, clean and with a huge and modern bathroom. Staffs were very friendly and helpful. We left our car there after checking out and Ubered to Universal Studios, it worked out great!

I loved how clean the room and the hotel were. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

Was not looking forward to the second stay because of the problems.But the A/C worked and so did the refrigerator this time. There is still not breakfast (for the cost of the hotel), coffee machine only makes half a cup and there are not enough parking places for the number of rooms they have. But we were happy that there was an improvement over the first stay. in June.

The cleanliness of this hotel was surreal, but the promised breakfast wasn’t available for us. It was supposed to be open every morning, which is why this hotel is being rated four stars. Overall, it was an excellent experience.

This property is a great value with friendly staff, very clean and comfortable. The only amenity missing is in room coffee and tea. A bit inconvenient to go to lobby to get my early morning coffee.

Parking garage is a little too tight

Bathroom was nice and room was clean. The garage has very limited spots, I definitely wish that was bigger.

We had a good stay here. It was quiet and comfortable. It’s not the greatest area of town and wish there was more to walk to around. It was a good stay though. The bathrooms are amazing

Friendly staff.

Everything was good and clean, comfortable bed, but there were a lot of strong scents being used in the elevator and the rooms which caused my husband and I to have trouble breathing.

Love this charming little hotel! Have stayed here a dozen times since it opened, go to spot in the Valley… super clean, safe, comfy beds, and right next to Chokolatta, best iced mocha in town (awesome crepes as well)!!
