Reviews
The Garland hotel is a well-liked, family-friendly establishment with a retro vibe, offering clean rooms and excellent service. Guests appreciate its proximity to Universal Studios and the free shuttle service provided. However, some guests have issues with the parking fees, thin walls, and shower water pressure.
- Proximity to Universal Studios and free shuttle service
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Parking fees
- Thin walls and noise issues

The property, staff, amenities, and location all made this a great hotel stay for my family. I would absolutely recommend The Garland for anyone visiting Universal Studios, Burbank, and Hollywood.
- 5/5
Everything was magical!
- 5/5
The Garland is a wonderful and charming little hotel. The pool was great - never too busy but always happening. There were plenty of free activities that were not cheesy and fun for adults and kids alike. Food and staff were great. Room clean. I would stay here again without question.
- 5/5
Our family had a great trip to Universal Studios. It was close by and. And we enjoyed the on-site restaurant as well as the patio and pool area. We will definitely come back here again.
- 5/5
Great trip. Very kid friendly!!!
- 5/5
We had an excellent stay and thoroughly enjoyed our time at the property. The hotel was beautiful, well-maintained, and met all of our needs. The overall experience exceeded our expectations, and we would gladly stay here again.
- 4/5
Rooms are great. Staff was awesome. Restaurant attached had an amazing staff. The manager was the best!. Parking is 50/night. Trolly to universal was awesome. Food was a little pricey
- 5/5
Excellent service enjoyed my stay very clean helpful staff
- 5/5
Loved how the staff was very attentive. Our original room has a very strong smell like cigarettes, called the front desk and they brought us new keys and moved us to a new room.
- 3/5
We got connecting rooms. Staff was really nice and this is the first hotel that actually have fridge that keeps stuff nice and cold. The food from the restaurant was pretty good. Shuttle service was easy to use even with strollers. The kids room was supposed to be a king bed but felt more like a full size bed. In the other room there was an area in the room that smelled like vomit but otherwise seemed very clean. Also, was very odd when I tried to take a nap I put the do not disturb sign on the door and to my surprise got an employee knocking just to say they had a dnd (do not disturb) policy that if that sign is on the door someone needs to be in the room. Very strange. Was not fun getting woken up for that. At night it was extremely loud. Anyone in the hallways or loud vehicles on the freeway.
- 5/5
We enjoyed the two nights we stayed. The trolley was an amazing amenity!
- 5/5
Our stay was amazing! Booked 2 rooms for our family vacation and both rooms were very clean and well kept. Shampoo, conditioner and body wash were provided as well as bar soap and bar face wash. All rooms have small balconies and the fridge has a few drinks upon arrival. The property itself is beautiful and has a modern/retro vibe. Parking is convenient and there is a shuttle that is for hotel guests that takes guests to universal studios and other locations. The employees were also all so helpful and make you feel welcomed! Highly recommend this hotel if you ask me.
- 5/5
Loved it. Will stay again.
- 5/5
If you come here definitely give yourself some time to enjoy the actual Hotel it's not worth the money if you're just going to sleep here. The Front Yard, the onsite restaurant is fantastic, the little poolside bar is nice, they have little nooks and places to hang out and chill the pool is great. Have been there a few times and will definitely be returning. The only thing I'm really disappointed about is that parking there has gotten ridiculously expensive it's $50 to park your car it used to be like 25 I think. Valet is $55 and they encourage that. I would have liked to have known that in my booking I do not recall that that was in my booking.
- 5/5
I loved the property, the amenities, the rooms, the history of the Garland and the location is great as well. I love that you still feel as if you’re in the 70s in the best way.
- 5/5
Just everything was AMAZING!
- 5/5
My fourth stay at the property and it is always the highlight of my LA trips. The restaurant is also stupendous.
- 5/5
Love the look and feel of this property. Have stayed here 3 times and will continue to stay here everytime I come to Burbank.
- 5/5
Beautiful and clean and well kept. Prices were relatively cheap for the area.
- 5/5
Brilliant from start to finish. Helpful friendly staff and a really well thought out property!
- 5/5
Loved this property. We chose it because family lives nearby and everyone could join us and eat and hang out at the pool. Couldn’t have worked out better.
- 5/5
We had an amazing stay at the Garland! The rooms were really nice and clean, the beds were VERY comfortable and we loved having a patio. The pool area was great and it was so cool that they hosted outdoor movies. The only complaint is that we were facing their event center and the first night we were there, there was a reception and it was pretty loud. We had come back from Universal to nap, before going back out and couldn’t, and the next night was a wedding, and it was also very loud. We loved hearing the music and fun for a while, but the late night partiers kept us up later than we wanted. Very cool that they had the free shuttle to Universal!
- 5/5
Great staff, pool, located within a block of two major freeways. Clean rooms with prompt housecleaning service.
- 5/5
.
- 5/5
Everything was great!! Would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Beautiful Hotel! Friendly staff
- 5/5
The staff is very friendly, there is well lit self parking, the rooms are comfortable and the restaurant has a nice selection.
- 5/5
We loved our stay! My sons loved the movie by the pool
- 5/5
Outstanding place to stay. Excellent location, wonderful amenities. Staff was very polite and friendly. Would highly recommend.
- 5/5
It was an amazing stay. The staff made us feel welcomed and were accommodating to the max. Definitely plan to return.
- 5/5
Amazing stay will be back!
- 5/5
The Garland was amazing!
- 5/5
The Garland is our go to place to stay when we are in Los Angeles. Beautiful property with many amenities.
- 5/5
Great stay, clean safe area.
- 5/5
The trolley transportation to universal studios was fantastic. That was our main reason for our stay, but we were happy to see how clean our room was and how nice and welcoming the staff is.
- 5/5
Staff was great! Clean rooms and excellent patio with wonderful entertainment
- 5/5
Great hotel, lovely staff great location
- 5/5
This hotel is so charming and has all that you need for a nice stay with kids but still want it to be refined. Pool is great! With a bar and food delivered. Front desk staff is very helpful too. If you come before check-in you can hang out at the pool until your room is ready!
- 5/5
perfect ! staff were so helpful and friendly ! Would stay again !
- 5/5
Nice hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. Great restaurant on site
- 5/5
The community was AMAZING, my kids and I had a blast at the pool, will certainly saving this hotel for all our future stays near Universal Studios.
- 5/5
If you like hotels with charm, character and comfort, this is your place’ The staff is friendly, the food and drinks are yummy, the beds comfy and the shuttle to Universal Studios is convenient. I wish I had longer to linger here and explore nearby. The pool gets a little crowded if you want a chaise lounge.
- 5/5
There wasnt anything I didnt like about the place. Everything was so amazing.
- 5/5
The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. We enjoyed the movie night by the pool and trolley service to Universal Studios. All the staff was excellent from the vallet, front desk, bartenders and pool personnel. We enjoyed our stay very much.
- 4/5
I asked for extra towels and shampoo, but they never came.
- 3/5
If you do not want to sleep at night , you can stay here . Very loud air conditioner noise makes you awake at the mid of night or highway noise . Far from everywhere ve except Universal. Very surprised how get this score at booking .
- 4/5
we like the hotel and the staff, what was really annoying was in addition to the fee for the hotel, there was a $50 day on-site parking fee, and even though we’re allowed in and out parking, it was considerably more than all day parking if you were just visiting for the day.
- 5/5
I absolutely love everything about this property. The Old Hollywood decor is beautiful, but what do you expect it is Beverly Garland! The staff is amazing the layout features a very relaxing courtyard and courtyard bar, the pool and spa are so inviting I could have relaxed out there all day! My room did have a balcony overlooking the courtyard, which was very nice. The Front Patio restaurant is awesome. If you are going to Universal this hotel features an adorable trolley shuttle. If you’re a Bravo fan you are just an uber away from The Valley “Ventura Blvd” and Sur Restaurant West Hollywood. We ate at Casa Vega, it’s hard to get a reservation so we took a chance and sat at the bar. Great Food Great Staff. I will definitely stay here again
- 5/5
I love that there was a restaurant with amazing food and access to evening drinks, the fun pool vibe and the shuttle to go to Universal Studios was amazing.
- 5/5
As a couple we were able to relax and enjoy the LA attractions
- 5/5
No. It met our expectations.
- 5/5
Had an amazing the hotel was really clean
- 5/5
Amazing hotel! Great amenities, staff and ambiance.
- 3/5
This wa smy second visit here and the sliding door remains a challenge. Akthough there are insturctiosn, last time and this, it appears we were uanble to follow correctly and had to call for assistance.
- 5/5
Loved the little balcony that came with the room. Very easy process of checking in/out. Parking wasn’t an issue at all.
- 5/5
The staff, the rooms, the breakfast options and late night bar.
- 5/5
The Garland is my go-to place to stay when in Los Angeles, Studio City, and North Hollywood. It has a fun, laid-back atmosphere and good family vibes. The restaurant is excellent and a go-to place for many locals. Clean rooms and great staff. Nightly parking is a bit over the top, but plenty of free street parking if you can walk a few blocks...
- 5/5
I hesitate to rave too much about this place because I don’t want everyone knowing about it. This was my second visit and I love it all! The staff are so nice and helpful, the rooms are clean, beds are comfortable, restaurant is delicious, trolley to Universal is great, and the gift shop has unique California finds. My favorite is the poolside movie nights. What a wonderful way to wind down the day by getting a drink and sitting in the hot tub to watch a movie and chat with new people. Can’t wait for visit 3! Love it all
- 5/5
Be advice: don't get a room on the side of the freeway, the noice of passing cars is unbearable
- 5/5
Very well cared for and comfortable, exceptional restaurant and the movie nights at the pool were great!
- 4/5
Extremely clean Slider door on balcony very difficult to open. Had to ask for an iron and no microwave in the room. Expensive parking, no complimentary coffee, 6 bucks a cup, Starbucks is cheaper!
- 4.5/5
Convenience
- 5/5
I loved the room, it was cute and very well put together. I loved the window you can order drinks and food through from the poolside. Staff was very friendly and helpful
- 5/5
Stayed at the Garland for a birthday trip to Channel Islands National Park with my hubby and it was AWESOME!!! Really great customer service from a very friendly staff and the most comfortable hotel beds we've ever slept in (and we travel A LOT). Love the colors and ambiance. The pool is perfect for relaxing and having fun drinks. Would definitely stay again when visiting L.A.!
- 5/5
Everything was wonderful.
- 5/5
The staff were so polite, and we loved the theme of the hotel and the movies in the heated pool in the evening. We booked it to go to universal studios since they offer the free shuttle. Our family enjoyed the hotel more than universal itself.
- 5/5
Aside from some noisy neighbors, this was a perfect stay. Very relaxing, food was wonderful, atmosphere amazing
- 5/5
Staff is ALWAYS incredibly kind and helpful. Property is clean, maintained, a favorite for our visits to Hollywood in general.
- 5/5
The ambiance is amazing Nothing
- 5/5
What a beautiful place to stay! Wonderful staff and beautiful property; I cannot wait to go again! Nothing loved it all.
- 5/5
The room was clean and updated. The staff was helpful and the Restaurant was wonderful
- 5/5
We definitely enjoyed our stay here. The staff were super friendly and very accommodating. Would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel with a chic vibe! Clean and the staff were amazing. Would definitely stay again.
- 5/5
This place was beautiful and elegant. I loved the retro lamps and chairs in the room and patio! The whole pool area and restaurant were equally gorgeous! All service and food were top notch! Took their trolley to universal and that was great. Staff were all amazing and wonderful, we will definately be back!!
- 4.5/5
Pool, movie, and bar
- 5/5
The smell in the lobby and very clean around the property The hall ways kind of smell like cigarette smoke
- 2/5
They do provide bottles of wine and a few coffee pods in your room. Staff was fairly friendly. Overall, I would give it a 2 out of 5.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel with great restaurant food! Would stay again.
- 5/5
Great spot!
- 2/5
Colton from the front desk was horrible regarding customer service and assisting in solving the issue regarding valet damaging my vehicle.
- 5/5
Have stayed at the Garland several times and keep returning because it’s a gem of a property. Love the cool, funky 70’s throwback decor and the pool and fitness room are very nice. Also the Front Yard restaurant and bar are great! Will go back again!
- 5/5
Clean room, delicious food at the restaurant, easy parking, great location. Always a treat to spend time at The Garland!
- 5/5
Shame the gym wasn’t operational. Other than that great stay!
- 5/5
The Garland is an excellent little gem right in north hollywood. Perfect for a vacation stay or a local staycation weekend. The hotel itself is an upscale boutique hotel with a family friendly attitude while still very obviously adult oriented. It’s beautiful, cool, and welcoming. The food was excellent too!
- 5/5
Location and laundry facilities
- 5/5
It was SO CUTE! Everything was very clean and the staff was very helpful when I asked to move rooms due to highway noise.
- 3.5/5
Excellent tub. Elevators were very fast. the pool was too small for the number of guests. Fitness area was very minimal. Need more machines
- 5/5
Clean room, staff are helpful and kind. Rooms were beautiful.
- 5/5
Absolutely LOVED this property! The throwback retro vibe fit in with the retro theme of our trip. The hotel is very conveniently located within quick walking distance to the Brady Bunch House. The hotel also had great transportation to/from Universal Studios. The room was clean and well kept and had plenty of space. Each member of the staff that we encountered were exceptionally friendly and helpful throughout our stay. I would highly recommend this property and I will definitely book this hotel again in the future!
- 5/5
This is a best kept secret and will book again. The staff is always 5 star ! Special shout out to Byron at the bar. He always remembers everyone's name and makes you feel at home from the second you walk in.
- 4/5
Small bathrooms
- 4/5
Loved the room and the area. Really pretty hotel to stay in and relax. Really enjoyed the pool area.
- 3/5
No bathroom ventilation was horrible. Shower had no door water went everywhere… It was a beautiful place but seemed crowded and loud. We expected family’s even though they pushed this couples thing hard. It’s next to universal studios but the whole place was just massive groups of little kids. Pool was a mess, bees everywhere, food took 45 minutes. Couldn’t touch the pool was overrun with unattended children.
- 5/5
Everyone was nice! The food was great, and the decor felt unique and special.
- 5/5
what a fabulous hotel to stay in. great location free trolley bus to universal, short cab ride to Hollywood boulevard. Staff are great, food was excellent in the Front Yard. everything about this hotel more than met our expectations
- 5/5
One of the best hotels in Los Angeles, hands down. The property is immaculate, the staff is incredible, the amenities are superb. One of the best gyms/pools you’ll ever find at a hotel. Their restaurant is fantastic and the rooms are wonderfully comfortable. My girlfriend and I are already talking about our next stay at the Garland.
- 5/5
Lovely hotel with unique decor. Great staff and a really useful trolley bus to and from Universal Stidios
- 3/5
There is a lot of noise outside, cars, etc. and the food is not good.
- 5/5
Great pool area and a beautiful property.
- 5/5
Room was very clean and recently updated. Bar and food were great! Staff was helpful and friendly. The restaurant had wonderful food and ambiance. Would definitely return and recommend it. Very happy with my stay. Enjoyed it very much.
- 5/5
The bed was fine but the pillows were extremely flat.
- 4.5/5
The property is beautiful! The rooms were quiet and clean and beautifully decorated. Very cozy. Our experience with the front desk staff during check-in was extremely disappointing. My son had gotten to the lobby before me (the reservation holder). I think he was attempting to take care of his portion of the parking fee. When I walked in the door the woman doing the check-in announced to me from across the room that she "needed my I.D." Not hello or welcome or a smile. Didn't wait for me to cross the room and come up to the counter. Just basically yelled "I need your ID" It was shockingly rude. She was abrupt and unfriendly during the entire check-in. Then when we got to our rooms (I reserved 3 rooms for my family), one of the room keys didn't work. My son had to go back to the front desk to get the issue resolved and the other lady that was there was just as rude, talking to my son as if the room key not working was somehow his fault and didn't apologize for the inconvenience/mistake on their part. He left frustrated and a little stunned. We are not a family of complainers or at all high maintenance. The (evening) check-in front desk staff experience was jarring to all of us. The front desk gentleman that helped me during check-out, however, was great. Very friendly and helpful and that at least was a good experience on the way out.
- 5/5
Love the atmosphere! Had a good time at the late night bar.
- 4/5
Nice hotel in beautiful area. Staffs are nice. Shuttle service to universal is a plus. Lovely place.
- 3/5
No store
- 5/5
movies at the pool, excellent food at restaurants, loved the trolley and location
- 4/5
Everything was good, only one employee gave us a weird vibe since he was yelling at his co workers for an issue with a tab? And we all witnessed it in the bar. Besides that, we will definitely come back
- 3/5
I just think the rooms should be soundproof while I was there it was hard to fall asleep the cars driving down on Vinland blvd, seem to be next to my window.. I can hear the crickets and I was on the 7th floor..
- 5/5
I have absolutely nothing negative to say about The Garland! From check-in to check-out, everything was beyond amazing. Staff was always ready to assist, the shuttle to Universal Studios was very convenient, and the food and vibe at The Front Yard? SUPERB.
- 4/5
Great staff and nice pool
- 5/5
Yes
- 5/5
No complaints
- 5/5
Nice view of the pool from room
- 3/5
Breakfast was great. Staff was great. They were putting in solar panels and remodeling the gym during my stay, which was a big downer
- 4.5/5
People at the Garland was very nice and friendly. Especially, their staff worker’s Rudy (valet) and Marie (store). I didn’t like that patio doesn’t have a screen door and there was no bathroom fan.
- 3/5
Property is in a good location for the parks and has a good restaurant and bar. Biggest issue for me was my room backed on to the lift shaft which meant I had a very noisy stay and trouble sleeping. I asked for a room change but hotel was full and staff really didn’t care.
- 5/5
We are repeat guests. We love the Garland. We take our daughter who is 4 and she loves the pool and movie nights.
- 5/5
Clean room and staff were friendly
- 5/5
Loved this hotel. Excellent customer service and the mid-century modern architecture and aesthetic is fabulous. Rooms and bed are fantastic and comfortable.
- 5/5
It was such a beautiful property and the staff were very friendly and helpful
- 5/5
Staff was so amazing. The bartenders were friendly and made great recommendations
- 5/5
We had a comfortable stay. The rooms were clean and staff was nice. Our room was facing the main road and it was very noisy.
- 2/5
N/a
- 5/5
Beautiful and comfy room, only problem is it gets noisy from the freeway but that is out of the hotels control.
- 5/5
Loved our stay at the Garland. We shall return.
- 3/5
The gym was essentially closed due to renovations
- 3/5
We stayed in this area strictly to go to universal. I read all the reviews and decided to save a few dollars and stay a little further from the park here. Well needless to say I wish I would have just stayed at one of the closer to universal hotels. We got a family room at the garland. Which wasn’t very well described on the websites. It is a little nook with bunk beds and no door. Not very useful for getting kids to bed earlier and having a dark separate space for them. There was also no night light or natural way for them to have a light if they got up at night. The staff kept coming into our room while we were gone. Parking was also $50/night which I also don’t feel like was well advertised. They’d pick up towels and always close the blinds. It kind of caught us off guard that they were in our space so much but not really an issue I guess. The bathroom had a frosted glass sliding door and was right at the head of one side of the main bed. Odd. Definitely woke that person up anytime someone used it. All in all just a bit of a disappointment. The room was still very expensive despite all of this (~$400usd/night with taxes and fees and parking). For that price I am wishing I had stayed at the Hilton or Sheraton right at the park.
- 5/5
Best hotel to stay at when visiting universal studios or Hollywood!!! Second time staying here and just as amazing as the 1st time!
- 5/5
I love the hotel great place to stay
- 5/5
What a great property and area. There were many organized activities for both adults and children to keep them occupied at the property. The pool area was very nice. The hotel is minutes away from Universal Studios as well as many other sights to explore nearby. Our room was comfortable and modern with a retro flair. The bed was super comfortable. I will definately book this place again in the future
- 5/5
Super clean and very relaxing
- 5/5
The Garland is strategically positioned to make your Travel Experience more enjoyable for any type of Vacation getaway.
- 5/5
great place to take kids and feel safe. only downfall was the convenient store on the property. I wish there was some food there to easily purchase for kids. there was only cookies.
- 5/5
The tacos that are served near the pool were some of the better tacos I’ve had.
- 5/5
Beautiful place. We enjoyed the pool and appreciated the shuttle ride from Universal Studios.
- 5/5
Staff was very helpful with everything.pool had a nice vibe to it.rooms were well maintained. i left behind something they said they found it and would get the process started with mailing it to me.
- 5/5
Excelente servicio en personal e instalaciones muy recomendado 10/10
- 4/5
Spent two nights here. The hotel is charming. Our coffee machine filter was dirty and had weird fuzz in the water compartment. I asked to replace it the first night and no one arrived. Asked reception for it the next morning, was promised it will be taken care of, but nope. Replaced on the third morning. Otherwise, it was a good stay. Nice to have a balcony to some trees.
- 4/5
The stay was amazing - love the hotel and the facilities but the lobby bar and seating area was significantly understaffed at peak service times. It took 90 minutes for us to get dinner one night and that was only after my husband went into the bar and placed our food order. One person working the tables (even with a manager bussing) is terrible for the staff and the customers! I would consider implementing an order system that has guests place orders using a QR code for the table and having staff handle greeting people and delivering orders to tables. Room, decor, staff were great and vibes were high but food service needs work.
- 5/5
Always enjoy our stays here. Highly recommend.
- 5/5
Great location. Great staff. Comfortable rooms.
- 5/5
I loved the old Hollywood vibes so much! Can’t wait to stay there again!
- 5/5
This was the perfect place to stay for a spring break trip with my son! We loved the movies by the pool at night and the free trolley to and from Universal!
- 5/5
Did not eat at the hotel!
- 5/5
Great stay. We will definitely book again on our next trip to LA.
- 5/5
So glad I found this place! We are Universal pass holders and the shuttle to the park is a major plus!
- 5/5
Loved the garland! Nice amenities! Free trolly to universal'
- 1/5
Elevators broken all 3 days of our stay, shuttle broke down, stuck for an hour and 30 minutes at universal studios therefore missed our dinner reservation
- 5/5
This was our first time visiting and we were very pleased with our stay here. The property exceeded our expectations with the courtyard and pool area. Beautiful and relaxing area, with multiple places to hang out. Movie nights, while soaking in the hot tubs and pool were just what we needed after our day of excursions. The food was good and staff were so helpful and friendly. We will definitely stay here again! And we’ll definitely recommend it to our friends.
- 4/5
The breakfast buffet isn’t really worth the price. Their elevators weren’t working great either. However, the pool and jacuzzi were great and the shuttle to Universal was really convenient.
- 5/5
Hotel is very cute. Pool area is nice. Beds are comfortable. Gym is nice. Self parking is a little pricey but typical and easy to come and go. Parking is behind the buildings.
- 5/5
Great experience!
- 5/5
Top Notch and so cool!
- 4/5
FRIENDLY AND INFORMATIVE STAFF WITH PLENTY OF AVAILABLE AMENITIES.
- 5/5
Everything was wonderful!
- 4/5
One of the light switches was totally, nasty, dirty. I tried cleaning it with hand sanitizer, but could not remove all the mess.
- 4/5
I have pet allergies.
- 5/5
This place is a hidden gem! The staff was amazing and food was so fresh and delicious. The entire property was sparkling clean! They even played a movie at night for the kids in the pool area!
- 5/5
Love this Hotel!
- 5/5
Shuttle to universal was always ontime, and only about 5-7 minutes journey. Staff were all great. The only thing I wish was different is that there were a few more vegetarian options in the buffet and main restaurant. Would 100% stay here again and would recommend to anyone.
- 5/5
A relaxing and excellent place to stay. The property has everything you need.
- 5/5
The pool and fitness center were really nice, and the room had a cool, groovy design while still being super comfortable. The trolley to Universal was one of my favorite parts. It was so cute and made getting there really easy. The restaurants both looked great, and I loved the store too. Everything felt thoughtful and well done. I would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
The hotel was nice staff was great, very enjoyable experience.
- 5/5
Breakfast was great. We love the pool.
- 5/5
The Garland offered the best staff and beautiful grounds and accommodations. The gym offered solid equipment and freeweights along with tread/bike/stepper.
- 3/5
the hotel is nice and I enjoyed my stay. The staff I interacted with were great. The building I was in on the 4th floor stank of old cigarette smoke. Additionally, there was a rattle coming from the bathroom for two nights before it was fixed, but the rattle started to come back on the day i left. Finally, the room was not restoked with waters each. I had to call and I think that should be standard. For the price, just not up to speed.
- 5/5
We stayed here while visiting Universal Studios. This hotel is so much better than Hilton or Sheraton, and is a fraction of the price. The hourly shuttle to CityWalk was great. Staff was friendly, rooms were stellar, and the environment was so fun! Nightly movies in the pool and complimentary wine in the room was fantastic. We will definitely stay here in the future.
- 5/5
A modern but nostalgic boutique LA hotel - I will definitely be back!
- 5/5
Excellent
- 5/5
The hotel was clean and employee very friendly
- 5/5
Always friendly and professional staff. Love the pool area. It’s my go to place in the Los Angeles area.
- 5/5
Staff and Property fantastic, would definitely stay again!!
- 5/5
Very cool and clean
- 5/5
Great apot
- 5/5
Loved our stay at The Garland! The staff were phenomenal, rooms were super clean, the pool was lovely, and the restaurant was terrific. The hotel is less than 10 minutes from Universal Studios and reasonably close to the Burbank airport. Would definitely stay here again!
- 3/5
The shuttle to Universal was really convenient, and the food in the courtyard was good. The movies playing at the pool was a really fun idea although it was too cold at night.
- 5/5
Pretty hotel and good location.
- 4/5
It was a great location. It was next to many activities.
- 5/5
Absolutely delightful property. Everything was beautiful! I’ll always stay here when in town!
- 5/5
The staff were all so friendly. Loved the grounds-- we sat by the pool at night and played cards. So relaxing, beautifully landscaped, comfortable bed, large clean rooms, great restaurant. Everything was perfect!
- 5/5
Nice people
- 5/5
Clean, convenient, cozy! Great place to stay in LA!
- 5/5
The hotel and the staff was nice. It was close to Universal studious and transportation was free.

The hotel had a great vibe everything looked clean and new. The area is very beautiful and all the foods and drinks we had were great.
- 5/5
Great hotel! I will definitely stay there once again in the future.
- 5/5
Great hotel. Very friendly staff.
- 5/5
Everything was wonderful, a unique hotel with great service wonderful atmosphere, perfect for any type of stay!
- 5/5
We enjoyed our stay at the Garland. The room was clean and staff were friendly and nice. Great service overall. Kids loved the pool and hot tub.
- 5/5

- 5/5
Everything was perfect
- 5/5
I absolutely loved our stay here although i don't think ill be in the portola byilding again cuz i want a room with a view. But everything else was 100000% awsome
- 5/5
Nothing but only the best things to say about the garland!!! From the beautiful & unique hotel to the amazing service to the endless activities to the free shuttle service to the great location to the delicious restaurant and everything in between, we thoroughly enjoyed every single moment at the garland!! Whether you're travelling for business or for pleasure, whether you're travelling solo or as a family or group or a couple, there's legitimately something for everyone! Can't recommend enough and so beyond happy I came across it!
- 4/5
Really friendly staff, room was clean and nicely remodeled. Didnt love the hotel room right outside the elevator and sandwiched by the freeway but thats the luck of the draw. Everything else was nice, comp trolly to Universal was amazing and reliable.
- 4/5
Spotless facility, stylish and cool decor. Best water pressure ever!! Friendly staff.
- 5/5
They were very kind, the hotel was in a great location and the shuttle service was outstanding
- 5/5
We really loved this hotel. Close to the freeway so there is some traffic noise, but they have a lovely patio area that's quiet, great pool and hot tub, good restaurant, and the staff was extremely accommodating. We already stayed there again and will use it as our NoHo hotel from now on.
- 5/5
Very nice chic hotel, feel like it doesnt feel like you are in the city
- 5/5
Room was awesome. Clean the whole property was amazing.
- 5/5
All the employees that I talked to gave me a service were not only very professional they were also very kind and courteous.
- 5/5
This is a beautiful property, it makes you feel like you’re somewhere other than “the city”, yet you are minutes from Universal Studios. Poolside bar/food, lively restaurant, amazing pool area, music in the courtyard, cute little gift shop and super clean rooms are some of the highlights. Next time we’re in the LA area, we will stay here again!
- 2/5
Expedia room was right next to the freeway horrible night of sleep
- 5/5
The staff were so friendly and helpful. Teresa was especially amazing at check in.
- 5/5
Friendly staff, supper clean and I truly enjoyed my stay at the hotel.
- 5/5
Pool, pool bar were great. Friendly staff
- 5/5
Excellent service. Would highly recommend.
- 5/5
Staff was amazing
- 5/5
Excellent boutique hotel ! Staff is friendly , food is amazing and very clean atmosphere . I will be back
- 5/5
Everything was clean and decorated so cute. The staff was amazingly friendly and helpful. The shuttle to Universal was always on time and clean as well.
- 5/5
The staff were attentive when we needed something and the room service was quick. Great ambiance
- 5/5
The property itself it is very pretty and well kept, the rooms were clean and beds comfortable! The staff was extremely nice and courteous. A plus is the tram for free, that takes you to Universal Studios multiple times a day and back. It was the perfect stay! I can only recommend this hotel.
- 5/5
This place is incredible all around we loved staying here. Every detail was good.
- 5/5
The staff were amazing except for the rude front desk lady who wouldn’t help me and was dismissive. However, Gober was very nice and incredibly helpful. Dominic the bellman went above and beyond. The property was amazing except it would be nice if the secret garden wasn’t chained and locked when not rented out.
- 5/5
I really loved the retro, 70’s decor and the fireplaces in the lobby and the pool area. Breakfast at the restaurant was excellent. There was lots of parking convenient to the rooms. I would go back the next time I end up in LA.
- 5/5
Clean room helpful staff, nice restaurant.
- 5/5
We loved staying at The Garland! Such a cute hotel with a lot of character and charm. Everyone from the front desk person who checked us in, to all the staff in the halls, store, pool, and especially the restaurant, were incredibly friendly and kind. Movie nights at the pool were a fun bonus, and all the food was delicious.
- 5/5
Todo estuvo súper lindo la habitación súper limpia y las instalaciones en general 10/10
- 5/5
Room was clean. Hard to close the glass door but it was cool
- 5/5
Yes
- 5/5
Good
- 3/5
However, the hotel also hosts business events, which can create noise issues. During our stay, an event in the theater became disruptive. When I mentioned this in their post-checkout survey, the hotel responded that they "did not expect it to become loud until midnight." For a family with a young child, this was problematic. Even in the "quiet" section of the hotel, the noise kept us awake. I'd still recommend this hotel, but advise checking the event calendar before booking. If noise is a concern or you're traveling with young children, request a room away from the courtyard and pool area.
- 5/5
Fun atmosphere, easy use of the bus to universal, amazing staff, wonderful communication, great food (buffet), clean rooms, 70s vibe. We loved it. (Family of 4 in family room with a baby)
- 5/5
Staff room all excellent.
- 5/5
SUCH A PLEASANT STAY! LOVED IT - WILL RETURN
- 3/5
I guess I just didn’t love the open air experience. Food ok but nothing to rave about. Staff was very good.
- 5/5
This is definitely a hidden gem! The customer service from the time we arrived to departure was hands down the best I have experienced. I travel a substantial amount, and have never been this impressed. The room was clean, comfortable bed and pillows. Well Done staff and management!
- 5/5
Fabulous service
- 5/5
We would 10/10 recommend this to anyone visiting the LA area! Great food, rooms, and vibe.
- 5/5
Super comfy beds and nice
- 5/5
Well appointed. Clearly much pride is taken in running this hotel!
- 4/5
Nice stay, good parking, cute room. It was pouring rain otherwise we’d have really enjoyed the pool area.
- 5/5
Amazing
- 3/5
The front desk staff were not welcoming and condescending when I asked for another room because the sliding patio door was broken and off the track. Then I was switched to another room and the sink was plugged. The next morning one of the same front desk staff yelled out as I walked by in a very condescending tone and asked about the new room which was unnecessary to yell out in front of everyone.
- 5/5
Close to universal studios, with a free shuttle bus running hourly.
- 5/5
We decided to dine at the restaurant and were blown away by the quality and delicate balance of flavors. Absolute perfection. And the staff at the restaurant had a natural rapport – we felt as though we were treated as close friends. Everything about our stay was above average and outstanding.
- 5/5
Absolutely amazing resort! Rooms were so clean, beds were comfortable, bar on site was great, restaurant on site was amazing, and the shuttle to Universal was a life saver. I will definitely stay here again when I go back to Universal! Thank you Garland staff!
- 5/5
It’s was very clean the staff were very friendly
- 5/5
Really cute hotel! Great location - very central to a lot of things in the area. The rooms and property were very clean and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend staying here.
- 4/5
very clean room and super neat
- 5/5
Room was spotless. Customer service was phenomenal, and the grounds were festive.
- 5/5
Cool hotel and very clean. Staff are very friendly.
- 5/5
Really cool hotel with a great vibe. Staff was very friendly, room was clean. Will definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Really nice place. Great Vibe. Service was great. Have no complaints about this place.
- 4/5
Angel was so great with the check in and gave a gift to my kid. The property was well maintained, clean and very family friendly. However there needs to be ventilation in the family rooms as my kids were hot. The AC unit did not evenly distribute through the room. The breakfast was good. The trolley to and from Universal was excellent. Thanks again, Angel!
- 4/5
Great food. Breakfast service (coffee) can be very slow. Ventilation fans came on at 02:00 very loudly and woke us up. The engineer had to switch it off for our stay as it seemed to be on permanently. Staff friendly and reception staff helpful. Loved the shuttle service provided.
- 3/5
Stayed 2 nights and no one showed up for room svc until about 6pm and we were taking a nap they left waters at the door but no towels, wldve been nice to at least get that. Other than that everyone was nice.
- 5/5
We loved the family room setup with queen bed and bunk bed! The kids love having their own bed nook. We also enjoyed the heated pool and spent a lot of time there. It was a nice reprieve from Universal Studios mid-day. The restaurant and pool-side food were good quality for a hotel. The trolley to Universal was also appreciated, although the timing didn’t work great for us, so we did take Lyft one time.
- 4/5
the other thing I did not appreciate was the rent of a microwave, 10 USD for renting the microwave seems to be honest a little ridiculous, I mean we're paying a lot of money... just give me the service
- 5/5
Very clean and accommodating
- 5/5
Excellent staff
- 5/5
Awesome!
- 5/5
Place lives upto the name of celebrity it is named after
- 5/5
Very cozy
- 5/5
Great vibe, and excellent staff. Enjoyed our stay, and would recommend!
- 1/5
Everything was nice and the worker were amazing but I did not like the fact we had to pay for parking even though we paid so much for the room!
- 5/5
The property was Family friendly. Very clean. Great pool and poolside bar. The 2 hot tubs (1 for adults only) is a great touch.
- 5/5
Fantastic hotel in a perfect location for vacation. The hotel went above and beyond in decorations and service. Bonus that the restaurant is excellent.
- 4/5
Room was clean, they cleaned it every day we were there. The trolley took forever to get there and we just drove to universal studios. Food was very good but upscale for my girls.
- 5/5
Room was nice, bed comfortable but I loved the ambiance of the hotel.
- 5/5
Love it so much
- 5/5
Very nice hotel, modern amenities with retro decor and styling. Great shuttle that runs to Universal City walk every hour. Great for families but quiet and away from the universal chaos, making it a nice place for other travel as well. Restaurant on property looked great! Just didn’t fit into our plans
- 5/5
Didn’t have breakfast. If it was included I wasn’t made aware of it.
- 5/5
Everything from the staff to the amenities to the cleanliness was amazing. My family had such a great time. Wish we could have enjoyed it longer.
- 5/5
The room was very nice and clean. The staff were helpful.
- 5/5
Clean room and great service. The shuttle offered by the hotel was convenient. Only downside-no microwave in the room.
- 5/5
The staff are always friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
The decor was great, the room was comfortable, everyone I interacted with was very nice and the pool area was a lovely little oasis.
- 5/5
Great hotel
- 5/5
Staff was amazing and super welcoming
- 5/5
Everything was great
- 4/5
Ate once on property
- 5/5
Nice and close to universal, the valet is pretty worthless, as far as reason to use it…
- 5/5
Property and amenities are beyond expectations here and hard to find in the area
- 5/5
Everything was amazing and as I expected. Service was very good. The grounds were well kept and clean. There was a 3 day rain storm but the hotel did its best to make sure the rain did not impact us walking through. The wi-fi went out and the trolley died but the front desk, Jasmine did a great job to remedy the situation and we were happy with that. The room was exceptionally clean. Valet was on top of their game. We had adjoining rooms and it was perfect for our family. I was able to request a microwave for an additional $10 a day and it was worth it. Christmas Buffett at the front yard wars exceptional and management did a great job to add our additional family guest that we invited last minute. Food at the front yard was amazing. In room dinning was so fast and there was a wine bottles that was very thoughtful.
- 5/5
Staff was very friendly. Loved the restaurant as well
- 5/5
We loved it!!
- 5/5
Quiet, clean, modern. Really nice place with a great Restaurant (The Front Porch).
- 5/5
Great place to stay
- 4/5
Loved the hotel, Loved the chill vibes, the staff and bartenders were awesome. Only thing I would do differently is book a room with courtyard view, just so I can sit on my balcony and have a drink and bs with people 😀. Enjoyed having connecting rooms (since our kids are older it was nice being close but also everyone having their privacy). We just had a fantastic time ❗🤘We will definitely be visiting again ❗🤙
- 5/5
This was my third time staying at the Garland and they again provided excellent service. The shuttle to Universal Studios is super convenient, the food tastes great, the hotel and the rooms are spotless and the staff is very helpful and nice. The hotel offers great amenities as well. Will definitely come back and stay here again.
- 5/5
Really nice hotel . Wonderful staff and service
- 5/5
It’s a fantastic hotel, it’s a Cali vibe with A+ service
- 1/5
stay wasn't ideal
- 5/5
Chilled wine Art Deco warm atmosphere I loved this place.
- 4/5
Pool was great. Restaurant coffee was bad. Weird experience with a bunch of bugs in our room so we had to move to another room which was nice and they gave us some food credits for our trouble. Staff nice and helpful. Poolside food only okay.
- 5/5
Very nice hotel!. Stayed in a connecting room with my family and was very convenient !.
- 5/5
Really nice stuff very clean room very spacious walking into the lobby has just a great clean sent and staff is very welcoming throughout the hotel
- 5/5
check-in was easy, the room was nice and clean. All the staff was friendly. The breakfast was delicious, we took the trolly to Universal Studios. It was easy to take there and back. We had an electric car and they did have charging stations. I would definitely come back and stay at this hotel.
- 5/5
Room cleaned with fresh sheets and towels daily.
- 5/5
The bed was comfy and clean and really enjoyed the deep bathtub. Kids enjoyed it especially! It was the first hotel without a free breakfast so that kinda sucked. Otherwise pretty basic hotel. Pool looked nice and they also had movies playing at 7pm. Very cool
- 5/5
Staff were incredibly nice, pool was wonderful, room was super comfortable! We will be back!
- 5/5
We had a fantastic stay at The Garland. Our whole family really enjoyed it, and the atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed. The trolley to and from Universal Studios Hollywood was incredibly convenient and made our trip stress-free. The hotel itself was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. We would absolutely stay here again the next time we’re in the area.
- 5/5
Excellent customer service.
- 5/5
Great room set up snd very clean.
- 5/5
Room was clean snd the staff was amazing
- 5/5
I just love the place, the vibe, the staff, all of it.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel in a great location. Will stay again soon!
- 5/5
Second time staying here! Very clean! Love it!
- 5/5
Great hotel and excellent staff
- 5/5
Clean room
- 5/5
Clean and easy transportation to universal studios
- 4/5
Hotel team were very welcome and I have little issues with coffee machine and balcony four but they fixed in general was quiet and clean hotel very close to Hollywood and convenient
- 5/5
Very nice and clean….. the whole property very well maintained, staff very friendly, had a minor problem with the heat in our room…. Maintenance was there in 3 mins to fix very impressive. We would definitely stay there again…
- 5/5
Fantastic hotel with excellent service and a warm atmosphere. Highly recommend!
- 5/5
Clean, kind staff, convenient to Hollywood/Burbank airport
- 5/5
Honestly this was just the best hotel I've stayed in in a long time. I absolutely loved it here. Food was delicious, property was interesting, quirky and fun as opposed to the anonymous boring blandness of most hotels. Service was absolutely top notch. Cannot say enough good things about this place. Wanted to move in.
- 5/5
Great location, shuttle to universal was awesome, hotel was quaint and had a great vibe.
- 4/5
Location
- 5/5
Very welcoming resort, heated pool and hot tubs, maid service everyday, lots of fun activities.
- 5/5
Staff always courteous. Good spot near Universal Studios and very close to the Brady Bunch home.
- 5/5
Love love can’t wait to come back w the kids!
- 5/5
Great hotel and location. Hospitality was amazing and hotel had lots to offer! Bar in pool area was perfect for a late night swim!
- 5/5
love this place. great vibe, nice staff, good food.
- 5/5
Very cool hotel, with a free shuttle to Universal! The decor and lounge areas are such a vibe! We had a lovely Thanksgiving dinner at the hotel restaurant. Wish we had time for a pool day… next time!
- 4/5
Very nice hotel with courteous staff. Convenient to Universal complex. Hotel apparently has long term guests that live there and we noticed a bad ordor emitnating from their room and throughout the hallway. We told the front desk and they said thank you for telling us. Nothing else was done. Otherwise overall a very nice hotel with great friendly staff .
- 5/5
Always my favorite place to stay
- 5/5
I've stayed at a few hotels around Universal for our annual Horror Nights trip and this is by far the best. Clean and safe parking lots, comfortable and clean rooms, quiet, and a convenient bus from the front door straight to Universal. Only complaint is the bus pauses in the hour I would most want to travel to the park
- 4/5
Staff members were very nice, room was clean
- 5/5
All of the Garland staff were wonderful, friendly and accommodating. Try their amazing gin fizz at the lobby bar!
- 5/5
The sliding glass doors kept coming off the tracks. We would have liked free breakfast.
- 5/5
The garland is a lovely boutique hotel that I wish we had more time and better weather to enjoy. It was raining while we were there so we didn't get to take advantage of the pool side movie night or the patio area. The restaurant on site was amazing! The food was delicious and the atmosphere was a vibe. The trolley to Universal studios was great! The staff were friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
This place is great. Love the retro feel and look. It’s clean and quiet. David was amazing when we checked in.
- 5/5
Clean, quiet, close to attractions, wonderful staff
- 5/5
Everything about the property was great and the proximity with Universal Studios, we love it!
- 5/5
Always the best stay in LA at The Garland !
- 5/5
We stay at the Garland every Nov when we travel to LA for our son's birthday. Sleep better in our double-queen room than at home: quiet, comfy, lovely small terrace, easy parking. Staff is friendly and helpful. Housekeeping even services our room when we sleep late and don't leave til noon. As well, appreciate the lending of tea kettle for making morning tea,
- 4/5
Everything was clean and nice as per usual. However it is time to upgrade linen and especially pillow quality.
- 4/5
Very clean and great amenities. Only negative was we couldn’t get a table to dine there. Wish I would have been advised of the need for reservations at check in.
- 5/5
Hotel was a mix of vintage and new. Stayed overnight and it was very pleasant. The only issue we had was the slider door was tweaked and fell off the tracks and couldn’t be closed so we had to call the front desk and security came up to do it. Probably wouldn’t have been a big deal if it wasn’t raining.
- 5/5
Friendly staff, clean rooms and other hotel areas, beautiful hotel and style bibe
- 5/5
Great hotel in a solid location in North Hollywood. Friendly staff, clean room, nice accommodations. Highly recommend
- 4/5
Friendly staff, accommodating. However would recommend improving their crib quality for families with babies
- 5/5
Friendly staff
- 5/5
Staff and food
- 5/5
Clean, friendly staff, great trolley service
- 5/5
Lose to Burbank airport, Hollywood sites and Universal Studios. I love the property! I loved the restaurant for breakfast and dinner. I love the balconies in the rooms. It’s very well maintained. I will be staying here again for my annual Horror Nights trip!
- 5/5
It was wonderful !!!!!!!!!! The stay here was excellent and service was top tier
- 5/5
Fantastic hotel, great staff which is willing to share insider tips on where to go in greater LA area, cozy rooms with balcony. Rooms have minibar but there is also a Ralphs in 5 min walking distance. The Garland offers parking to a cost, but there is free parking across from the hotel on Alta Vista road (read the parking restrictions carefully). Pool has 2 hot tubs, one for adults-only. Bar opens to the pool, take advantage of Happy Hour. Diverse entertainment program: live music, movies at the pool etc. Free shuttle to Universal studios. Great restaurant attached to the hotel and I can only recommend the breakfast buffet. But there are also dining and breakfast alternatives in walking distance. It was our first, and not last visit to The Garland. Highly recommend!
- 5/5
Only complaint was ordering the continental breakfast on Monday morning. It came with a pastry and a muffin. The muffin was ok but the pastry was hard and tasted like it was leftover from the weekend. Our cooked breakfast the day before was nice but they had no business serving that hard old pastry! I didn’t complain because I didn’t have the energy to deal with it.
- 4/5
The Garland was a great home base for our trip to Hollywood and Universal Studios. The hotel amenities are lovely. Our room was clean and comfortable. And the shuttle service was such a nice bonus. Our room did face Hwy 101… and it was loud. We would go back, but would probably request a room facing away from the highway.
- 3/5
Room decor feels very motel like.
- 5/5
This hotel is a gem in LA. Real enjoyed our stay, from checkin to check out and all in between the service was excellent. We were a family of 5 ( 1 child 2 teenagers) we had the Family Suite and is was perfect for us ( after being nervous that it might be too small when booking). The trolley service to Universal was great. Would highly recommend
- 5/5
Excellent!
- 5/5
The room was clean and well maintained. The staff were helpful and accommodating. I would stay there again.
- 5/5
Location, property & amenities. We love how close it is to everything we need. Love the overall vibe
- 2/5
The hotel is not that bad as far as comfort.. But I wouldn’t return , first I paid a different price then my registration price which was odd but I didn’t make a big deal seeming it was only $14…. The room they gave me was near a hall which wasn’t an issue until Saturday came and the guest of a wedding started flooding the parking area making it almost impossible to find a park near my room. The icing on the cake was Saturday night when my family and I completed our night at universal studios and sat at the shuttle stop in the night fog and cold with my 2 yr old and other 3 kids including the birthday girl and my husband for 2 hours waiting for pickup. No phones were being answered and my kids were so exhausted as well as freezing . We were waiting as well as a couple who were the ppl to let us know that the hotel said we needed to find our own way back because the trolly broke down….We had no idea what to do seeming the hotel was a 35 min walk , a Uber would have been extremely expensive especially for the 6 ppl in our group so all of us had to walk back to the hotel in the cold nightly fog down a hill very dangerous. I don’t understand how this was possible, no back up plan, apparently this is common because according to an unknown source this happened before . This property makes too much money to not maintain their shuttle service .., do not recommend
- 5/5
The whole experience was excellent: the friendly staff, the decor, the chill vibe, the retro motif, the food and drinks, the pool scene, the nice valet guys. A great stay.
- 5/5
amazing. David was amazing. The property was amazing.
- 5/5
The hotel was amazing!
- 5/5
Our 2nd time staying here and Everything was wonderful!
- 5/5
We love the Garland! It is our go to place when we are in the area. The pool area and bar are always amazing. Our favorite spot to chill and relax before our plans. Staff is always amazing but this time around David helped us check in and he was fantastic. We loved him! Our only drawback this time around we stayed in a suite, and it was a bit disappointing. It was much smaller than we expected, and the bathroom situation was odd. The bed was pretty firm but that's personal preference. However, neither of those things will stop us from staying here. We'll be back soon!
- 5/5
Absolutely amazing experience! Will definitely return again! Great staff, amenities and rooms. Very clean and professional.
- 5/5
Clean room. Friendly staff. Lots of parking.
- 5/5
Friendly staff, easy to access. Clean room, daily cleaning. Loved the transportation they provide to Universal studios.
- 5/5
Check the water pressure in these bathrooms. The water pressure is like an outdoor bird bath, longer shower times due to minimal water pressure using more water overall. Other than that, your entire staff-EXCELLENT.
- 4/5
The staff were very friendly. The valet parking was very convenient and not too pricey. Very clean and comfortable rooms . Only bad mark was the A/C was a bit inconsistent. Seemed to cool but at night it felt warm in room. Yet, overall great Hotel to stay in North LA.
- 3/5
Hotel had a 100 dillar per night deposthat was not disclosed upon booking room was nice other than that
- 5/5
Great staff. Nice hotel. Wonderful stay!
- 5/5
Very clean and quiet room. Friendly and helpful staff checked me in and even called the room to check if everything was to my satisfaction.
- 4/5
The room was spotless and the staff were amazing. I loved the style of the place, with a mid century vibe. The only reason I gave it a "4" was the freeway noise.
- 5/5
The hotel is super clean. I’m lowkey a germaphobe and it was clean to my standards. The people are pretty nice and the location is good I only stayed a night but it was some of the best sleep I’ve had in a while. Would def recommend as somewhere to stay really quick, I felt safe.
- 5/5
What a pleasent surprise. I loved the hotel. They should update the photos. It doesnt do it justice.
- 5/5
Clean rooms, extra activities available like movie nights. Friendly staff
- 5/5
Was not informed of the free breakfast.
- 5/5
Did not eat breakfast or use pool
- 5/5
This is a unique hotel. It made our stay very fun and enjoyable. It has a great pool area and the movies around the pool are fun (although the volume got too loud sometimes). We would stay again. Shuttle to Universal was very helpful.
- 5/5
Love staying here! Have had multiple trips, excellent each time. Don’t hesitate to book.
- 5/5
The 70's vibe was a whole mood and super cute!
- 5/5
Poolside amazing
- 5/5
Clean, kind and comfortable
- 5/5
Awesome hotel.
- 5/5
This is our second stay and it was every bit as perfect as we remembered. The pool & hot tubs are incredible, the food & the restaurant are exceptional. The grounds are absolutely lovely and tucked away from the rest of the world. The room is spacious and well appointed. It's our favorite place to stay in LA.
- 5/5
Great property-staff was very helpful and kind and rooms were very clean
- 5/5
Makeup mirrors only useful if you are over 6’ tall. Rooms need to have shower caps. Don’t have time to call for one when you realize it’s not there and you are about to shower.
- 5/5
We loved it! Cute photo ops all throughout. Fun for the whole family. Rooms were clean and very nice. Next time we’re staying in the area, we’ll stay here. & the trolley to Universal Studios was so convenient!
- 5/5
Room(s) were both great - both nights were upgraded and appreciated
- 3/5
Very noisy from freeway traffic
- 4/5
Good stay
- 5/5
Did not try the breakfast during my stay but the pool area was great!
- 5/5
Greag
- 5/5
Fantastic 5 stars
- 5/5
Everyone is super friendly and helpful. It is an oasis and so tranquil there.Rooms are so comfy and the trolley to Universal is such a great perk. Will always stay here whenever we go to Universal.
- 5/5
Didn't have breakfast
- 5/5
Definitely will be back.
- 5/5
Check in was very friendly and helpful
- 5/5
Staff ---Super Kind, helpful, and efficient Pool and Bar: Cozy, Clean, staffed well, great drinks. Location: 5-6 min from Universal or a free shuttle the hotel provides in their open air trolley. So cute.Shuttle runs hourly. 16 Min to Burbank Airport avg. Only downfall and it's NOT a true downfall, but the rooms are on the smaller side. The amenities, housekeeping, upkeep is all great, they are just a tad small for my liking but NOT at all an issue. 3rd trip here and will be back!
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
Amazing chic boutique hotel with a real calafornian feel. Amazing pool and lobby area.
- 5/5
The whole hotel was beautiful especially for an older hotel. Had no issues navigating throughout.

Beautiful hotel, very clean. Only suggestion was wishing they had a microwave. Other than that I highly recommend. Also maybe have the Universal Studios shuttle run every 30 minutes rather than every hour.
- 5/5
Great hotel, loved the pool and trolley
- 5/5
The rooms were clean and welcoming! Loved the bunk beds for the kids! Loved the shuttle to Universal! Staff were super nice!
- 5/5
Excellent!
- 5/5
Wish they were nicer

The setting for the wedding and reception was beautiful. The staff were so friendly. Everyone we encountered was polite, welcoming and courteous. Everyone from the front desk to the servers at the reception to the groundskeepers to the housekeeping staff all had smiles in their faces and greeted us warmly. 100% would recommend to anyone.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel with great restaurants and bar. Pool area is great too. Love the retro and boutique feel. Trolley to Universal is handy.
- 5/5
Pool and patio area was absolutely lovely. Felt like an oasis!
- 5/5
Hotel was absolutely beautiful! Love the retro chic. Everything was perfect can’t wait to come back
- 5/5
Absolutely loved this property. The food, staff, and amenities were fantastic. My kids especially enjoyed the night film in the pool area. My husband and I enjoyed the poolside bar snd speakeasy. Would recommend to anyone. Can't wait to come back.
- 5/5
From the start of our stay to the end it was beyond what we expected. The movies in the pool were a huge hit with our kids. My husband and I loved the outdoor area and had beautiful weather to enjoy relaxing out there every night. We will definitely be staying here again on our next trip to LA.
- 5/5
Such a great stay. Excellent service.
- 5/5
Really enjoyed my stay at the Garland hotel. Will
- 5/5
This is the fourth yearly trip we have stayed at the Garland. The stay is always great. Comfortable rooms, quiet doors, great hotel amenities. The pool and hot tub are a vibe. Would highly recommend this for a relaxing stay.
- 5/5
Y’all I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. I travel CONSTANTLY and this is my new favorite hotel by far! So homey! So original! So affordable! Such excellent service! I mean every front desk person, every bartender, every server, every housekeeper, every maintenance person…. So. Nice. So. Helpful. Absolutely the nicest week I’ve spent anywhere lately including my own home!
- 5/5
Friendly staff! Great rooms :)
- 5/5
The pool area is wonderful for families and there is an adults only hot tub that I enjoyed for relaxation.
- 5/5
Extremely nice property. Great staff. Nice and clean room. Nice pool area.

We have stayed at The Garland many times. Staff is friendly. Easy access from the freeway. Property is clean and well maintained. Family/pet friendly. The beds are comfortable and the rooms have always been clean. The restaurant is consistently good and the trolley to Universal Studios is an added bonus. Highly recommend.
- 3/5
Rooms were clean. Staff friendly. Parking thou was an issue. We arrived back from a day trip on a Saturday night and there was no parking to be found. We had to exit and renter the area twice, and spent literally 20-30 min trying to get a spot. The rooms were not as insulated. We could hear the guests next door. Especially the screaming children. This is my second time staying at this hotel and I won’t be returning. The grounds are beautiful and kept clean. The area I feel is safe but not worth it when you’re paying a parking fee and still cannot find a parking spot.
- 5/5
Such a fantastic stay! Clean rooms, great activities, DELICIOUS restaurant! 10/10 would stay there again.
- 3/5
It was loud, you can hear footsteps, water, and conversations. There was a wedding on property that was extremely loud well past my bedtime. I was disappointed that there wasn’t a heads up about that, given I was there for work, I would have asked for a different room or chosen somewhere else all together.

Best hotel experiences
- 5/5
Hotel pool area is great. The kids really enjoyed the swimming and movie at night. Restaurant has great food. Shuttle to Universal Studios was really easy and convenient.

Clean room friendly staff cute mid century modern hotel with shuttle service to universal studios
- 5/5
It's a hotel you should choose for your vacation.
- 5/5
First time things at the hotel, we loved it
- 5/5
One of the best hotels I've stayed in. Staff are the absolute friendliness. The hotel is beautiful and spotlessly clean. The food and drinks are also amazing
- 5/5
Comfortable room and good services.
- 5/5
Clean room, great for families!
- 5/5
There are certainly more deluxe places to stay in LA. But for my needs it hit the spot. I will return
- 5/5
This was our second stay at The Garland, and won't be our last!
- 5/5
Room was clean really nice good service really nice staff
- 5/5
Clean rooms, kind staff, great food and awesome pool.
- 5/5
The property was very nice, amenities are great and areas are clean. The hotel itself is very quiet so not hard to get a good nights sleep in. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
Our third stay! Great design, good food and very friendly and professional front desk. We love to stay here when in LA. From San Diego🙂
- 5/5
Love this hotel!
- 5/5
Love this hotel, great ambience, friendly staff, easy parking, great pool, feels safe, love eating at the yard restaurant!
- 5/5
Great vibes
- 5/5
The decor is a throw back to the 60s an d 70s which give it a great vibe. Staff and cleanliness are wonderful.
- 5/5
Customer service was great
- 5/5
Totally great experience!/
- 5/5
Very close to universal. Lovely pool area with movies around the pool. Only down side is $100 a night deposit when staying there but this does get refunded
- 5/5
It was a very clean room and we enjoyed the pool and bar. although we did not eat at the restaurant during this stay it looked like it would have been a good choice if we did.
- 5/5
Nicely renovated historic hotel close to all the Hollywood attractions.
- 5/5
great food. room was clean n cozy
- 1/5
Air conditoner not working. Walls were concrete. Looked like they had remodled the garage to make room. My room was a remodled garage. Noisy, and rude clientele.
- 5/5
They were great and took great care of us.
- 5/5
Staff is always super friendly. Great drinks. Love the street tacos. Always like the decor. Love that the Front Porch is right there and it’s rare that we have to wait very long. It’s my “go to” hotel when we go to Universal Studios.
- 3/5
The property leaned into the vintage theme and the decor was representative of that. There was a cute hotel boutique and parking spots were fairly easy to find. The additional fees and taxes will definitely add up and the staff did not charge the correct room rate which took much longer than I thought it should to resolve. I’m hoping it will be reflected on my credit card soon.

- 5/5
The best stay I've had in years. The hotel and grounds were beyond excellent, the staff was amazing, and the entire atmosphere was relaxing and friendly.
- 5/5
Sych cute themeing and branding, such a good restaurant, spacious room, every staff was friendly and accommodating, and it smelled so good everywhere! Would stay here again.
- 4/5
Stayed here to be close to Universal Studios. Decent hotel and super convenient for going to the theme park.
- 3/5
Wanted to love it, but first room smelled, secons room had weed smell wafting in all night.
- 5/5
A resort in the middle of Los Angeles...one of the best hotel experiences we have had as a family.
- 5/5
Great spot, would stay again. Good for families staying adjacent to parks, but boutiquey and cool for solo adults as well.
- 5/5
We loved this hotel! We will definitely stay here again the next time we’re in LA.
- 5/5
The room room set up. Perfect for a family. Close universal studios. Front Yard restaurant had excellent food.
- 4/5
I loved that it felt very safe and clean. Everyone that worked there was extremely nice and friendly. The only thing was that parking is $40 a night which is a lot and can add up. That price is atrocious. The overall stay was very nice and I will possibly book here again if I fly in.
- 5/5
Food and staff are amazing Make sure you ask for a room not facing freeway or it’s really loud!
- 5/5
Very clean, quiet at night, and many options to eat right there at the hotel! They have a shuttle that goes to Universal which was extremely helpful!
- 5/5
Awesome Hotel with an Old Hollywood vibe forget the corporate hotels get to The Garland
- 2/5
40 dollars a night
- 4/5
We really liked the design of the property and the 70s vibe. The rooms are standard updated. We could hear a repetitive mechanical noise from outside the room at different times of the day and night so we moved to another room where the A/C underperformed. Despite these problems, we would go again. Nice pool and great food!
- 5/5
Was fantastic. Friends recommended and we really enjoyed the pool and bar.
- 5/5
In my opinion, this is the best place to stay when visiting Universal Studios
- 5/5
Great place to stay near Universal Studios. Convenient shuttle to the park. Will definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
excellent stay
- 5/5
Everything was perfect. The rooms are huge and soundproof. Food and drinks delicious. Ambience and atmosphere divine. A free shuttle to Universal Studios. It's as if you stepped back in time to the early 70s.
- 5/5
Very happy with our stay!
- 5/5
Absolutely great staff. I highly recommend staying here.
- 4/5
That was ok but woke me up if very late at night or in the night. Room was always cleaned well and staff friendly. Have stayed there before and would stay again..
- 5/5
This hotel was immaculate. The rooms had everything you need. Staff were ok, some more helpful than others. Happy hour late at night was good when returning to the hotel in the evening.
- 5/5
We had a wonderful time at The Garland in Studio City. The resort is beautiful, comfortable and peaceful. The staff is friendly, helpful and welcoming. We will definitely come back!
- 5/5
Stayed here to visit universal studios and we loved it! David greeted us with a smile and was very friendly and informative. This hotel is a vibe we utilized the trolly service with ease. The pool and hot tub were great! Loved the late night movies by the pool. Would definitely stay again.
- 5/5
Clean place to stay
- 5/5
Smooth check in. Nice, quiet room. Clean and comfortable!
- 5/5
The stay was awesome, staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel room was super clean and well kept. They had so many amenities and stuff for the customers. Truly amazing, I would stay here again! Although rooms are not completely sound proof as it says but it’s okay. This hotel make the trip super easy. Super close to universals studios!
- 5/5
Booked due to proximity to Universal Studios. We really enjoyed our short stay. Took advantage of pool and gym. Definitely will stay here again when in the area.

Cosy
- 4/5
Uitstekende ligging en vervoer naar Universal Studios. Gezien de grootte van het complex wel wat beperkte beschikbaarheid bedden bij het zwembad
- 5/5
Stay was amazing
- 5/5
Nice place
- 5/5
Had a great staycation here. Great for families. Would recommend.
- 5/5
Staff was friendly and attentive
- 5/5
Great vibe loved the place
- 5/5
Location was great. Loved everything
- 4/5
The hotel is undeniably charming—beautifully decorated, comfortable, and well located. However, it seems the management is trying to accommodate more guests than the space can comfortably handle, which impacted our experience at times. The pool area feels overcrowded when the hotel is at full capacity, and the same goes for the restaurant, making it difficult to fully enjoy the amenities.
- 5/5
We love this hotel, raised my kids going here and just spent the last weekend here with youngest before she’s off to college
- 5/5
Clean, outstanding service, and very well structured with events and activities.
- 4/5
My room had ants and i was not offer my vip benefits
- 5/5
Loved the movie nights at the pool and live music. What a fun Friday night. Two suggestions- I wanted to order a fun dessert for my daughter from the Front Yard but the man on the phone said "there were too many options to list" and pointed me to the online menu which only has cookies and ice cream. We were in our bathing suits and it didn't seem appropriate to walk over to ask for a menu. The front desk didn't have a menu or know either. Also, a note for anyone booking for the Peloton- it is no longer there although it's listed on the Peloton hotel finder. Everything else was lovely and the room was perfect.
- 5/5
My family love this hotel and only downside is our room is very closed to the road. Very noisy not getting good quality of sleep.
- 5/5
We love the service and the pool but our room is a little noisy closer to the highway.
- 4/5
Noise from 2 to 4am that woke us up every night. The bathroom mirror in our room was shabby and should have been replaced. Don't stay in room 219. Staff is great. Maid service was awesome.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel, fun and quirky. Loved to family film nights around the pool and the pool dining options.
