Reviews
The hotel is praised for its beautiful design, cleanliness, and excellent location in Palo Alto. However, there are mixed reviews about the staff's service, with some guests praising their kindness and others finding them unhelpful or rude. Some guests also found the hotel overpriced for the room size and amenities offered.

Bed and pillows were not comfortable at all. Room was too hot. Shower pressure was low and water was always luke warm, could never get it comfortably hot
- 5/5
Rooms are excellent in terms of cleanliness, contemporary and minimalistic decor, and technologically advanced lighting/toilet/TV. Fitness gym has Peloton, weights, and high-end treadmills. Nobu restaurant is high on taste. Worth the high expense!
- 5/5
Nobu is the best hotel I’ve experienced in the Bay Area and is my go to for work travel.
- 4/5
The hotel is clean, well-designed, and has a calm, refined atmosphere. Rooms are comfortable with a nice Japanese-inspired minimalism, and the subtle scent throughout adds to the experience. Service, however, was inconsistent. Staff were polite, but follow-through was lacking. I requested dishes be cleared from my room multiple times even in person and they remained for over 24 hours. It felt like a gap in execution rather than intent. The restaurant was mixed. The miso cod was well done, but other dishes, like a trout I ordered, were overly oily. Service there also didn’t match the level you’d expect. Breakfast was decent but slightly inconvenient, requiring a short walk outside, and the large communal tables felt oversized for solo dining. Overall, it’s a solid hotel with strong design, but it falls short of the consistency and refinement expected from a truly high-end stay.

Clean, great customer service Window view wasn’t pleasant
- 5/5
Modern room, comfy bed and pillows. Love this place
- 5/5
Huge shoutout to Josue for helping us secure both the room and our dinner reservation — he made the whole process effortless. And Chef Charlie at the chef’s counter was incredible. His food recommendations were spot on and truly elevated the entire dining experience. The staff was friendly and attentive, the room was cozy and comfortable, and the amenities were great. We celebrated our anniversary here and couldn’t have picked a better place. Thank you to the whole team for making it such a memorable stay. We’ll definitely be back.
- 4/5
The service was just okay. Two room service orders took well over an hour to arrive (and if that's the case, fine, but don't say it will be up within 35-45 minutes) and a request for just a fork took nearly as long (I had brought some noodles back to my room but they were cold by the time the fork arrived). Only two bottles of complimentary water and no easy place to refill them seems cheap for a $1000 a night hotel room (and not replaced daily either). Shower had lame water pressure.

Beautiful hotel.
- 5/5
Great hotel. Will stay again. Just small mishap with breakfast but I was accommodated.
- 5/5
Loved the clean room and a very friendly staff.
- 5/5
What a beautiful hotel. The amenities are very comfortable and luxurious. And the biggest perk is the amazing sushi…
- 4/5
Overall, customer support is ok. When I checked in, my hands were super full, and no one asked if I needed things sent up to the room or needed help. Odd for a reputable hotel. There is a gym. Nothing else. No spa. There is tiny, and beautiful Japanese garden. But it’s not like you can stay there. No seating. Also there is a constant loud noise of AC fans from the roof of the building. The restaurant is ok. It’s in the first floor, and there is smell that travels through the building. I ordered breakfast to the room. The deliver was ok. I was expecting more “good morning, do you want me to take off my shoes, can I enter?” But nope. Very super quick and bye. Not returning unfortunately. I’ll stick to the other high end hotels.

The location in downtown Palo Alto is great, if that's what your looking for. And the Nobu restaurant is of course delicious. The rooms are nicely decorated. The staff was friendly. However, as one of the most expensive (if not the most expensive) hotels in a wealthy city like Palo Alto, I was expecting a more luxurious experience. The room was nicely designed and perfectly comfortable, but I wouldn't call it luxurious. There was no grand lobby, beautiful garden, or killer fitness center. The gym was fine but small and the lobby was also fine but small. There is only one elevator so you sometimes have to wait a bit for it or take the stairs, which are kind of dirty and banged up since they're really intended as fire escape stairs (I assume). The staff was very nice, but again, I had been expecting to be impressed by outstanding luxury service, and I definitely was not.

One of the best hotels stay. 5 star!
- 5/5
Hotel is nice, stuff is attentive, clean spacious rooms.
- 5/5
Great rooms, exceptional toilets with fully customizable bidet functions. Our first room was too elevator-adjacent but they moved it with no issues! Excellent restaurant downstairs. Super nice and accommodating staff. Good location.
- 5/5
Great location and cool vibe. Nobu restaurant is excellent
- 5/5
Great hotel and staff, we had a wonderful stay. The room was beautiful and very quiet.
- 5/5
Nice, clean and quiet place

Our stay was amazing! Felt as if we were staying with family. As soon as we walked in they knew welcomed us and knew us. They even wished my daughter a Happy Birthday! They made us feel so welcomed and comfortable. Anything we needed they made sure they were there to help with whatever. Room was amazing and clean. Hotel Manager introduced himself and made me feel like family. Great staff and manager! Overall recommend this 100%!! Definitely will be coming back soon!
- 5/5
Staff not as attentive during breakfast. Lots of staff around... just our particular waitress was a bit missing. Never got a 2nd cup of coffee, nor offered a cup. I found myself looking around for her.. then just gave up. At time of payment... it seemed to lag, there were other conversations with her and the staff that seemed to prolonge her assertiveness to the task. There were only 2 or 3 tables in the whole restaurant.. so it was not that you guys were busy.
- 4.5/5
Great location, pleasant Japanese / Nobu typical design and of course Nobu food on site :-) The rooms tend to run a bit small.
- 2/5
Rooms great. Services was terrible at the bar and restaurant. Called front desk, valet and guest services for an iron and no answer. Had to get dressed and go down to the desk and noone was behind the desk. The entire operation needs work. Get a mew GM!!!
- 5/5
Nice property, quick checkin and checkout
- 5/5
Seating on the ground floor would be a great idea. Sometimes, one has to wait for a friend or a car, and there is no place to sit.
- 4/5
Very well situated in Palo Alto. However elevators were at times broken
- 4/5
Very comfy and clean.
- 5/5
This is an amazing hotel! One of the best and well thought out concepts I’ve ever had the pleasure of staying in! Thank you!

Was great a few years ago. Food and now terrible. Will never come back

Comfortable
- 5/5
Superb room, tastefully appointed and thoughtful choices throughout. Serene.
- 5/5
It was simple and stylish. Very best of Japanese culture.
- 3/5
it very clear that the front desk staff has not been properly trained. When I check out they went rude but it seemed as if I was an annoying task that need to be dealt with when they where trying to do their real work. Not focus on the check out process or me the guest.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel in the heart of Palo Alto!
- 5/5
It’s clean and conveniently located at the heart of Palo Alto where restaurants are just walkable distance Nothing so far :)
- 2/5
The staff wasn’t very professional and was quite rude.
- 5/5
location and service storage space in rooms very limited
- 5/5
Beautiful property with Japanese influences. Zen like feeling in the room, bright and cheery. Rooms however need more mirrors!
- 5/5
Our only difficulty was with understanding the lighting and blinds system in our room, which was a bit complicated.
- 5/5
Outstanding place to stay. Minimalist, tranquil and chic — ideal for recovering from jet lag.
- 5/5
The building was beautiful and well maintained. Wonderful Japanese gardens. Food was delicious I would appreciate it if there was complimentary coffee earlier on, if breakfast was open earlier and if the restaurant was open later. In the evening the bar seemed too crowded. Elevator was slow.
- 5/5
Close to Palo Alto train and Stanford
- 4.5/5
Show space is a bit small. Window shade not able to open/close half way...need to fully open or close.
- 2.5/5
Location. Downtown Palo Alto Rooms are small, no full mirror anywhere in room…in fact only mirror is in bathroom … if getting dressed …can’t see full body ..just half and inside bathroom … Toto Japanese toilets make noise all night …also the automatic sensor ..lifts the seat and turns a ,ought inside commode…, making noise as you simply walk by …. They cleaned our room at 4pm …having left the room at 9am ….. we couldn’t go back and rest …had to wait in lobby …never offered anything ..a drink or something for making us wait ….never had turn down service ….
- 2/5
there are many things wrong with this hotel. The rooms are laid out terrible and not comfortable. The shades have large gaps so the room is never really dark. They charge for every little thing no free water so thank god I brought some. 50 a day for parking on top of $500/a night room price. The attitudes of the help are snotty. Uppity. the restaurant is outrageous as well.
- 4/5
The hotel is great but the staff could be nicer...

- 4/5
Very good
- 1/5
Customer service at checkout is some of the worst Ive ever seen!
- 0.5/5
Nothing though nothing special, just Nobu the name but full dissapointment Bar and restaurant close at 14:30 and 22:00 and no service after. They are working like solo restaurant and bar but nowhere to have some time for hotel guests in between. I had to make a zoom meeting out of the room since my son was sleeping. But showed me nowhere to sit in front of reception I had a meeting. When you are checking in no information nor the hotel or the room given. They close the bar everyday for special events. They never mind the hotel guests. Never stay there. Many nicer places with half price that you can have decent service for better stay. I had stayed at Marbella Nobu before which was nice but this one is total dissapointment…
- 3/5
The hotel is new .. but definitely overpriced.. and it’s not 5 stars at all .. they have a huge problem at the door and with Vale .. welcoming clients at the door is the worse, we were asking the vale guy as he was the only person at the door to help with the bags and imagine .. he answered it’s not my business ..
- 1/5
No laundry service. Very slow food (50 minutes to an hour) from ordering food to getting served - breakfast & lunch.
- 1/5
restaurant is great room is small and basic. frankly not worth the price. toiletries were ok and not everything was well thought through in the room
- 4.5/5

- 5/5
Best Palo Alto location and top services.
- 5/5
Clean
- 5/5
Upscale, clean, comfortable. Bed was great, but bed pillows were not firm enough. On the 3rd floor closer to street was somewhat a little noisy from workers very early at 5:30 am. But overall a great stay!
- 4/5
This hotel did not meet my expectations, especially considering the rates. The service was not good at all.
- 5/5
Clean, soft floor, favorite was advanced bidet toilet, doors, lighting, and large TV, service was very professional and elegant too
- 2/5
I was disappointed for staying NOBU HOTEL.when I checked in ,the front desk don't according the hotels deposit usd150/night,she taken the USD300/night,i booked 2 rms, tally USD600/NIGHT. after I check out, the front dest account wrong the deposit number return them, and don't know when my deposit will be return?so it's unhappy experience
- 3/5
The hotel is nice but waaayy overpriced for what it is. I’ve stayed at “luxury” hotels for half the price around the Bay Area and this one was no different from the others. The room is nice with decent amenities, but there’s no ice machine/water fountain in the hallway and just overall is nothing impressive. I thought the restaurant would be amazing but was completely unimpressed and found it to also not justify the price, either. Overall would not recommend staying here because once again, there’s nothing really wrong with this hotel but it’s just way too expensive.
- 5/5
pure luxury
- 5/5
Awesome property and perfect location in Palo Alto.
- 1/5
The service is so bad
- 5/5
We loved the Wooden Floor, Mattress, Sheets, Towels, Bigger than standard size refrigerator space and the quality of all the Vanity products. Our rooms came with the Most amazing complimentary breakfast. Esthetically Beautiful balcony door was very heavy and difficult to close right, so cold air was constantly seeping in all night. There are no dressers. Closet Doors are also very hard to open and close. The only full length mirror is attached to the inside of the bathroom sliding door, so mirrors are only accessible inside the bathroom. Which makes it longer time to get ready for two people at the same time. Hotel charged for the complimentary breakfast, so we had to call to request for refund the charges.
- 5/5
Very zen. Shades lighting toilet all automated.
- 5/5
Great service
- 5/5
Everything was great!
- 4/5
Overall good experience
- 1/5
I returned to my room in the late afternoon and unbelievably found the room uncleaned even after confirming the time of the cleaning at the check in the day before. DID NOT CLEAN THE ROOM!!!! The first time this has happened in more than 50 years of staying at hotels. I complained and asked it to be cleaned an hour later. I was taking a nap and cleaning lady banged the door 20 minutes after my request to clean in an hour. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. No apology from the manager. Third-rate hotel. Never again.
- 5/5
Your room was guarateed vacant at least 48 hrs prior to check in. Covid19 precautions. Very reassuring……
- 5/5
Loved this hotel! We will always stay at Nobu when visiting our daughter at school
- 5/5
Staff was friendly and accommodating, our stay was fabulous!
- 5/5
I stayed here for my birthday and it was a great experience. Seamless check-in and I dined at Nobu for dinner. I had a great stay.
- 4/5
Great check in and great interactions with the restaurant staff.
- 3/5
Amenities are great! Regular room carpet is dirty but the ryokan suite is amazing!!! The only thing is that the service is not what i would expect for the price i paid. Nobody answered my in-room calls to the in-room dining and guest services. I had to use my cell phone to call their main number. But think this depends on the staff of the day.
- 5/5
Cleanliness, location, bedding amazing. Breakfast options not the greatest.
- 3/5
Service was less frustrating. Room was as shown.
- 5/5
Awesome service period! But Restaurant food not at Nobu standards
- 1/5
Very disappointing although it is a time of covid. Just difficult to justify the price with zero amenities. no one is staying in the hotel and they are still unwilling to upgrade a room...totally unnecessary when literally you are paying for nothing but a bed and a coffee maker.
- 5/5
I would have loved to give full 5 stars, but the dining experience was not up to NOBU standards at all. I have dined at Nobu Las Vegas, Malibu and LA, and this was not up to the Nobu standard. dirty plates left on table, lack luster service. The hotel itself is beautiful. Located in a safe and nice area w plenty of places to eat nearby. The rooms meet the Nobu standard, just wish dinner were the same
- 3/5
This is a beautiful boutique hotel however the staffing did not live up to the Nobu name. They charge $45/day for Valet however they rarely had a valet attendant outside so you are forced to park and go inside to find someone to help. The room was small as expected but very comfortable and minimally plush. However due to the location, I was awoken every morning at 5am by street sweepers and garbage trucks.
- 5/5
Room accommodations and staff interactions were 5-star
- 3/5
Refurbished hotel that is now a Nobu. Elevator does not work so you need to enter via smelly service entrance and take service elevator. Plates left outside of room me for over a day. Not impressed
- 4/5
Great service and great location. Rooms are super small for price
- 1/5
Tv and speaker did not work properly, when asked the technician was not eager to help and I asked to speak to the manager and never pass the message along. Wasn’t told that there were construction right outside of my room. Such a disappointing experience. Wouldn’t recommend. Amateur hours
- 4/5
Our Favorite: HUGE TV (very impressive) !!!
- 5/5

- 5/5
Love it despite the renovation.
- 5/5
Great location. Love Palo Alto. The room was completely remodeled. Top quality. Some hotel common areas still pending. Nobu Restaurant and Bar fantastic - always!
- 5/5
The hotel was first class all the way, the room was a five star for cleanliness, all the linen was beaming white! Food was amazing from Nobu downstairs. Staff was so professional and highly attentive. Would not stay at any other hotels in the area, I will always stay here!
- 5/5
This was a great experience! They were helpful, the place is super cool and the food is beyond wonderful. They tried very hard to accommodate us in this very busy world renowned restaurant
- 5/5
very comfortable room, great beds, quiet, staff extremely helpful and friendly
- 3/5
The property was average not a luxury hotel. It was in a good location and the staff was nice but the hotel itself was okay.
- 2/5
Hotel is under construction. I am surprised that they charge the rates they do while construction continues.
- 5/5
Great location ! Beautiful Boutique Hotelneith 5 star restaurant. Great for business in Silicon Valley.
- 5/5
They were very kind and accommodating to our needs.
- 5/5
Great hotel right downtown Palo Alto. Very friendly staff!
- 5/5
Super clean and modern hotel. Staff were friendly and very helpful. We would definitely recommend to friends.
- 5/5
Will be going back 10/10
- 5/5
Nobu is like a Boutique Hotel. Very original and the staff treats you like you’re family. Everyone is so friendly. Zo went out of her way to make our stay even more special. She knows what she did for us and we didn’t even have to ask. It was awesome.
- 5/5
Great stay. All you need is close by. Fantastic staff.
- 1/5
They are not friendly at all
- 5/5
Great place to stay. Rooms spacious than expected and great scene in the area
- 5/5
Everyone who works here was super friendly and helpful. We brought our dog with us and we would definitely come back again. Loved that the hotel toiletries were full size bottles (and smelled great!). Room was clean and so was the bathroom. Lots of great shops and restaurants within walking distance. Great hotel and great location.
- 5/5
Check-in was quick, and the manager on duty offered us drinks to celebrate our anniversary. Very nice welcome to the hotel. The room was comfy and and was very convenient to downtown.
- 5/5
Had a fantastic stay for the weekend with the family. It’s not the cheapest place to stay, but it was worth it. Front desk to valet... everyone was welcoming, helpful, and very responsive. It’s tough to find hotels that offer rooms with 2 queen beds, so we were really happy to stay here. Did not eat at Nobu, but it was very popular.
- 5/5
Comfy and nice, walk to coffee, shops and restaurants. Close to Stanford.
- 5/5
Cute little place with friendly helpful staff . Very convenient for my purpose . Fun rooms
- 3/5
Very expensive room ($356) and dining. Coffee and tea and two beautifully prepared meals of a block of french toast $53.00. Incredible and very attentive staff. Quiet a real plus.
- 5/5
Incredible service, very friendly staff members, I can't wait to stay again!
- 1/5
Noisey, windows do not seal outside noise. Noisey at night til 1 am due to restaurant downstairs and beginning at 5 am due to trash pickup truck 3 visits outside window 5-6 am. Moved to four seasons.
- 4/5
Great location - walking distance to shops and restaurants. Outstanding and welcoming staff. Sent us up a split of champagne that we enjoyed on our terrace.
