The Palo Alto Inn

I found the motel very warm and welcoming. Since I was staying alone, it was important that I felt safe. I must say I felt totally safe and secure during my stay. I would recommend it to couples and families roo, but also single women. Nothing that I didn't like.

Decent rate, safe area, clean room,and comfortable beds

Air conditioning works great. We parked our rental car right in front of our room. Very clean room, housekeeping daily, have great manager and staff. Shower pressure is amazing. And have a beautiful little patio for smoking and non smoking peoples. Very close to Horbees and Pasta market. Walking distance.

Well, my husband can hardly smell anything! When I arrived and met my husband outside, his clothes had a really funny, not-good smell, like my grandparents old house. And sure enough, it was the room! Now granted, I have a very acute sense of smell, more than most. Opening the windows to air it out helped a bit. After a while, I got used to it and was able to sleep ok. I did need to wash all of my clothing upon returning home. It was clean, and the grounds were lovely with planters full of flowers. And if your nose is like my husband's, you won't even notice the old-building smell!

One night week day stay. Needed a wheelchair accessible room with easy parking which was provided. The room was spacious enough for my son’s wheelchair. Everything was clean and quiet. Person at front seat was kind and efficient. Will choose this hotel next time we travel to Palo Alto.

Perfect place to stay during Stanford football. This is our second stay there and we will stay again next time our team plays against them. It's very clean and convenient.

Heater worked perfectly, bed was really comfy, very high showerhead and very hot water, and complimentary snacks and water bottles and coffeemaker and microwave in the room. Amazing value for the price. They knew I was staying for multiple nights so they put me on the top floor to mitigate any possible noise. Would definitely stay here again. And free parking!

Zen overload 😌 We sat outside for hours after our event just sipping wine. Definitely will be back and HIGHLY recommend! Absolutely incredible and the price was amazing for what we got. 10/10 !

I stayed at the Palo Alto Inn for one night while attending a show at Shoreline, and everything from check-in to check-out was fantastic! The general manager personally checked us in — he was super friendly and made sure we had a great room in a quiet area. The room itself was spotless, the beds were incredibly comfortable (we honestly wished we could’ve taken them home!), and the bathroom was well-stocked with all the essentials — plus extras in case we’d forgotten anything. The water pressure was perfect, which is always a huge bonus. We also appreciated the thoughtful outdoor seating area for smokers — it was clean, comfortable, and nicely arranged. Overall, it was an excellent stay with great hospitality and attention to detail. I’ll definitely stay here again next time I’m in the area!

Older motel ,vert short toilet, no over head lighting, no swimming pool/spa, very noisy from traffic and emergency vehicles. The cleaning ladies were very nice and did a great job though. We left early because of family being discharged from Stanford Hospital and had to demand a refund when we had the check out early insurance !!!

Am a repeat customer, noticed the little vase with fresh flowers were not around this time. Just missed having them in the room. Otherwise we liked the room; very clean bathroom, good air conditioning, nice sized bed. Will be back and hopefully the flowers will be back too !

Graduation weekend at Stanford. The Palo Alto Inn is just the perfect location close to the school. As soon as you drive in you can see that the area is clean and nicely decorated. The customer services was wonderful, the young man thank us for picking them and let us know they had complimentary snacks and water. The room was was clean, organized and quiet. We have found our second home when visiting Palo Alto.

From the Walmart on Showers Drive (about .8 mile away), there is a free Mountain View Shuttle that has two routes - I took the Red route from Walmart to Castro Street (downtown) and the Grey route to get back to Walmart from downtown. Several of the hotels close to the Palo Alto Inn have restaurants and I found that most of them had pretty good food. I enjoyed Dinah's Poolside Restaurant and Hobees (great blueberry coffee cake). The management and staff of the inn were all friendly and helpful. And there are free snacks, water and sodas in the office. One thing to note: the website listed guest laundry, but I didn't see any laundry facilities. When I asked at the desk, I was told they don't have laundry available anymore and they suggested a laundromat north of the inn.

Accommodated our need for a quiet room after my husband's surgery....in fact he selected the room after we had mentioned the reason for our stay.

Very disappointed. Probably smallest room I’ve ever been in. Our window actually overlooked the DUMP. That was our view. The tiny communal area with chairs and a couch was very close to the road and traffic. Noisy.The check-in desk area was the size of a bathroom…that tiny. All equipment in our room was ancient. The floors and bed in our room squeaked and I could hear them squeak in the adjacent room which tells you how thin the walls were. Yukkk. Never stay here.

The one thing that will keep me from staying there again is the bed...It was just...BAD. So uncomfortable. The mattress was similar to a sofa bed. I would stay again but they need more comfortable beds.

The inn is nice and a great price and I'd love to stay again except the beds were awful. So hard and uncomfortable and I barely slept because I'd wake up in pain and have to move around to get "comfortable" again only to wake up in pain a few hours later. My mom also slept bad due to the mattress. If they changed out the mattresses to something with a pillowtop we'd love to stay here again.

This was a very pleasant motel to stay in. I liked the area and could find shopping nearby. It was close to Stanford University which was the purpose of my visit to the community.

The glass window in the room was cracked and taped off. The window opening didn’t lock. The bed was very uncomfortable. Wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

We arrived 30 min prior to the check-in time. We were told that they didn’t have a king room ready yet but could put us into a queen. We said that we would prefer to wait for the Deluxe King that we had paid for. We sat in a nice outside area to wait but in about 10 minutes he said he had the king ready. So we checked in but the room was not a Deluxe King that we reserved. It was a very small room with only one nightstand, nowhere to put any of your things except the floor. There were no towel bars or hooks to hang wash cloths or hand towels in the bathroom. There was one hook by the tub for a bath towel. There was nowhere to sit in the room but the bed or a small desk chair. It was very uncomfortable. But worst of all was the bed, it was like sleeping on a board. It wasn’t firm, it was hard. And to top it off the mattress was covered with plastic. Not just uncomfortable but a little noisy when you moved. We will never stay at this property again nor do I recommend it. It will say that it seemed clean and was quiet. Worst of all was that they didn’t give us the room we reserved and paid for in advance.

Amazing front desk services! Gentleman was super nice and friendly and offered us an update from our 1 king bed to 2 queens because he noticed we had our 7 year old daughter with us free of charge. When we ordered take out pizza and the place forgot to give us plates, I called the front desk and they provided us with some plastic ones. Room smelled nice when we walked in and was clean, furniture and appliances looked new. Plenty of outlets available for your changing needs. However the bed was a big disappointment...hard and not comfortable at all. I'm a side sleep and it hurt my hips and back Pillows were soft, but gave no real support. Husband is a back sleeper and he wasn't too comfortable either. The 7 year old slept right through it. Overall very nice Inn and good price point.

We were in town for my child's surgery at Stanford and stayed two nights. This was our first stay here and it was great. Traveling with a child in a wheelchair the room we had was perfect. Parked right outside the door and the room was large and clean. Fridge and microwave plus a nice little table with comfy chairs. We didn't spend time outside but there was a cute sitting area with lights. Staff was nice and everything felt really safe. We would definitely stay here again. It was a great value for the area!

The hotel was awesome for the price! It was super clean, modern, but the tile work in the bathroom wasn't the best work by any means (my husband didn't think the tile work was worth mentioning though). The bathroom space was great which is surprising becausethere was no counter space around the sink. The shower water pressure was perfect though. The TV was super large with Netflix, if you want that. Looks like a little old motel turned boutique. We'd definitely stay there again.

I love this property! Considering the costs in California, this is definitely a budget friendly place. The staff is absolutely wonderful and kind! You can definitely tell that this is an older place but it’s well kept and most rooms are redone! The only thing I would say is that my room was one that had not had the ceiling redone and I could hear the people above me. But it was still an overall great experience and I would stay there again!!! Thank you for your hospitality while I spent time in Palo Alto! ♥️

This place is what hospitality should be. The room was clean, the amenities were aplenty, the service was excellent, and they even threw in some free sodas and snacks. That made my experience way better than when I stayed at a 5-star hotel.

The front desk service was amazing and wonderful to work with. The room was clean and had many outlets for charging phones etc.

This time my budget was not that. The location is central to everything in the area. The people are nice, as are the rooms. I didn't have a problem with any noise being on the bottom floor. If there was any issue, the parking's a bit tight. If I need to stay in the area again and my budget is similar, I'll stay there.

Cons: * Poor check-in experience, they just don’t like to work after 8pm, no one was at the reception for a long while. Almost left to look for another hotel and cancel Palo Alto Inn booking. * an old building, zero sound insulation, if your upstairs neighbor is walking around in the middle of the night, say goodbye to your sleep. Overall ok motel but I wouldn’t stay here again.

Amazing little hotel!

After two long nights at the hospital, we jist needed somewhere to crash for the night. The hotel was close and affordable. The young man who greeted me created "magic" (his words) by getting me a room on the ground floor to avoid stairs for us. He offered snacks (free) and we walked in to an immaculate room. Bed was comfortable, room was quiet and we slept.like.babies. You wont be disappointed!

The only positive for this room was the bath and the shower. Shower pressure was good. As for breakfast included it’s just basically snacks not really a breakfast in my humble opinion. Since I didn’t drink I asked to take 3 popcorns with me for my drive home.

This quaint mid-century motel has been painted and offers very nice accommodations. I found the room to be clean and have everything I need from larger, newer facilities. Refrig was adequate and the bed very comfortable. I liked the tub because so many newer places aren’t putting them in and sometimes you just need a good soak! The office staff was pleasant and accommodating. Great price for a quaint comfortable stay.

I found the Palo Alto Inn to be a delightful throw back. The employees were pleasant and helpful. The location is on a main thoroughfare with close shopping availability. The room was very clean, the bed very comfortable with a refrigerator and large closet. An older 2 story outside style motel, that has been well cared for and updated to include all amenities. I was very comfortable and would definitely stay again.

The Inn is a renovated older motel but very clean and great location for business in Silicon Valley. Price is very fair for this area and included complimentary drinks and even a bottle of wine in the room.

Ck in was streamlined, efficient , friendly and pleasant. No breakfast but there was free beverages and packaged snacks. There were several minor repairs that had not been done. Would go back again but first impression did not last through out stay.

The Palo Alto inn is charming and convenient. We were disappointed that the alarm was set at 5:53 am and because of the way it was hooked up, we could not disconnect it. The TV only played one station. If these "IT" things were fixed, it would have been a wonderful stay. There was no one at the office when we left (early of course!) to explain the issues so I do so here.

Stayed there a couple of times, really enjoyed it. Even though the property is a bit old, you can tell it is very well maintained and cleaned. The staff is friendly and professional.

My brother and I stayed in side by side rooms for two nights while celebrating the 4th of July with family and friends. The staff was so friendly and helpful with everything. My room was wonderfully updated with wireless charger bedside. Quiet. Comfortable. Amenities excellent! Definitely would highly recommend. Great location to our favorite restaurants too!!

This is the second time we have stayed at this little gem. Front desk staff could not be more welcoming. Always very friendly and professional. The rooms are perfect for an easy overnight stay with easy access to restaurants, shopping, and the airport.

We liked the property and all of the amenities in the room. Our one issue was with traffic noise. We were at the front of the property, so I guess that contributed to the problem.

I emailed through the Hotels.com app to let them know I would be flying in late. I received a kind acknowledgement. Unfortunately when I looked at my phone when I landed, I had several emails and voicemails notifying my that they tried my credit card and it declined so therefore they could give away my room. Mark was rude and condescending when I tried to remind him that I would be there shortly and according to the app, I would Pay at Property. Additionally when I asked him to rerun the card, he was annoyed. But a funny thing happened - my card went through just fine. No apology. Nothing. The property is cute. the bathroom smelled of mildew. The location is good. The clocks in the room were all different times. Old coffee maker. Just beware of the poor customer service from him.

Plenty of towels and pillows but beds were a little too hard for me.

Our only complaints was The bed was so uncomfortable, so hard. And it really needs to have another nightside table. It only had one. Everything else was very nice

This hotel is a good value if you just need a place to sleep for the night. The staff is REALLY great. This is a no frills place. It’s kind of on a busy street.

I was immediately impressed upon entering my room with the cleanliness and simple but attractive design. It was thoughtfully furnished with nice little extras. The staff was very helpful concerning my handicap needs. My next trip to Palo Alto will include staying here.

Check-in was easy and polite.The room was absolutely spotless and even had little vases of fresh flowers around. Everything someone might need or have forgotten was available (even a packet of toothpaste and a brush). This is the first review I have ever bothered to give a hotel but, though it is a small place, it was really special. I'll be back.

The room was spacious, had some complimentary beverages. All outlets worked, not loose neither. Restroom has a blow dryer, large bottle of lotion and hand soap. We stayed on the second floor, a single chair outside of the room. Close to restaurants, gas stations, stores, and a short drive to the Shoreline Amphitheatre. Pillows weren't that great, just our opinions. To each their own. One of the bedsheets had dried up stain splatter. Walls are a bit on the thinner side, so if that's not for you, wouldn't recommend.

Wish I had found Palo Alto Inn years ago. Clean, friendly, honest-2 weeks ago, daughter left her AirPods and they called us asking how to get them to us. We were coming back last weekend and picked them up while we stayed there again
