Reviews
The hotel reviews indicate a general sentiment of dissatisfaction, with many guests expressing disappointment in the cleanliness and condition of the rooms. The hotel appears to have issues with amenities and services, as well as safety concerns.
- Location is convenient for some guests
- Staff is friendly and helpful in some instances
- Rooms are dirty and smell of cigarette smoke
- Hotel lacks basic amenities and services
- 2/5
The images on the website did not reflect what my room actually looked like. This is definitely a situation where it’s buyer beware. If I knew then what I know now I would’ve stayed at a different location.
- 1/5
Never even stayed in the room left immediately after checking in room had at least 50 visible roaches they try to moved me to another room for a refund and left less than 10 minutes after arrival
- 5/5
Came down for a graduation needed a place to rest and get dressed staff was friendly and haelpful
- 0.5/5
Nothing bad customer service , roaches everywhere Customer service is poor
- 1.5/5
Location Homeless and run down
- 2.5/5
The bed was comfortable The room smelled like smoke and counters were dirty like they didn’t clean them
- 4/5
The room was a lot nicer than I expected. Great for the price. I appreciated all of the appliances and outlets. The plumping needs work: The shower was difficult to turn on and off and the toilet kept running
- 1.5/5
nothing distressed property. deferred maintenance, No services on site, very noisy.
- 1/5
Door lock would not work. Staff had to be called EVERY TIME room entry was required. No fridge or microwave in room as advertised.
- 4/5
The check in was at 3pm and we got there around 5pm and they where still cleaning rooms so it took a few minutes to find one. The water took a long time to heat up when taking a shower. Other than that it was a nice stay.
- 5/5
We only stayed for one night but it wasn't bad decent bed and a large bathtub it was nice
- 0.5/5
Location wasn't the best but ok. Being told I couldn't have a room after I paid. The money was taken off my card for the reservation and I was refused at the lobby window later. Very upsetting. I spent about 2 hrs more looking elsewhere. I'm hopeing I get a refund. I didn't receive a key and didnt enter a room. The staff was unhelpful I and rude.
- 5/5
Clean room, polite staff, there’s a mart nearby
- 1.5/5
The sink was clogged. The blinds on one window were dilapidated and dysfunctional. The TV was without instructions (I had to ask for desk help to come and make it work) and the remote's battery had to be replaced. The staircase had water standing on the steps.
- 1/5
Horrible i paid in advance got to the property and they wouldnt allow me to check in. They krpt all my property and my deposit and used a $100 verizon giftcard and kept over 2.8oz of silver along with some vailuble electronics all my clothes all my checkbooks and cards including my social security card was told they threw it away. Then the manager threatemed to fight me. I filed a police report
- 2/5
The room was poorly cleaned on arrival. I got there and found a tack on the ground. There was barely enough towels; and they were mostly useless.
- 1/5
Shouldn't have booked here. Room doesn't seem like it was cleaned. Something crawled onto the pillows while I was trying to sleep.
- 0.5/5
Pitiful
- 4/5
There's a Starbucks that's like a 10-15 walk, a convenience store right around the corner, and this fantastic fish & chips shop down the street.
- 1/5
Hmmm let me see .. well the rooms look nothing like the pictures portray. I guess when a person leaves their room that means that others can break into your room and steal your stuff with what seems like assistance from the motel staff.
- 0.5/5
The front desk tried to find my booking but it had been cancelled by the third party. My booking was lost.
- 1/5
First night I had no hot water and there were cockroachs in the room, then moved me rooms and to my prevail the room had no hot water and found roaches as well. The room smelled like stale cigarettes and I brought my cleaning wipes because the room didn't seem clean.
- 3/5
didn’t work.
- 3/5
The Capital City Inn is a good location for the Sacramento Convention Center. However, our room keys only worked for one day at a time. (had to keep going back to the office to get the keys to work for our multiple-day stay). We also had to request more towels, since they don't make up the room daily.
- 5/5
Good
- 1/5
There are permanent residence in this hotel that were smoking and bumming cigarettes. Drug deals in the parking . Doors that you couldn’t open a toilet that wouldn’t flush one room had to be moved three times. We moved hotels in the middle of the night.
- 1/5
The room reeked of cigarette smoke, the kind of smell like people have been smoking in there for thirty years. There were also hairs on the sheets and the tub was wet as if someone had used the room and it hadn’t been properly cleaned in-between our stay and theirs. There was an obvious prostitution ring and drug dealing happening on site as well. Would never willingly stay here again.
- 5/5
Wish it was cleaner but staff is cool
- 5/5
The Location Was Pretty Decent. and I Didn't Have Any Breakfast. and The Staff Was Real Friendly. N/A
- 1/5
Awful location so loud at night
- 0.5/5
ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. The guy in the front desk was very nice but that was the only thing. We got a non-smoking room and the room REAKED of cigarettes. There was holes everywhere, mold in bathtub or old caulking that collected dirt and grime, broken furniture and when we walked in there was white powder all over the bathtub.
- 3/5
It was okay. The bathroom smelled like cigarettes, which made showering uncomfortable. A fly was in the room before we arrived.
- 3.5/5
I don't like how the room keys always get demagnatized
- 5/5
Conveniently located , easy to find
- 2/5
It smelks like smoke. The check in took so long. Then the guy in front had to leave so he had somone come up front to watch me. Very uncomfortable.
- 1/5
Брудно та неприємно пахне сигаретами.
- 2/5
It was alit if honeless traffic didnt deel safe
- 5/5
Always taken care of
- 1/5
Rude staff someone stole my id and bank card al round wouldn’t check the room for ut and told me I had to leave it wasn’t his problem
- 4/5
The room was clean and comfortable, and the location was convenient with shops nearby. However, my experience with the front desk staff wasn’t great.. the person at the desk seemed a bit rude and unapproachable. I think a friendlier attitude toward guests would make a big difference in the overall stay experience.
- 0.5/5
Cockroaches, bad odor and the sink leaked
- 2/5
Its located in a noisy area, too many police. It smells like Marijuana all day. Poor area.
- 3/5
Shabby rooms with Luke-warm water in the shower.
- 5/5
Amazing room very spacey. The staff was very polite. Highly recommended.
- 5/5
The room was great and it was close to restaurants and bars. It was clean and spacious.
- 0.5/5
Nothing Everything. There were cockroaches in the room a stain on the bed. They moved us to another room where the towels were stained and had a giant booger on the wall! When I canceled my reservation they would only give 1 night back of the 2 that I canceled.
- 3/5
I asked for extra blankets and told me no with no hesitation.
- 3/5
For good food, an excellent Mexican takeout restaurant is just down the block.
- 3/5
We visited Sacramento for an As game and stayed
- 4/5
One vending machine , no ice. The rooms were beat up but semi clean . Cant complaint to much for the price
- 3/5
The stay was okay. There was no closet for hanging clothes, iron or ironing board to press clothes. The towels were dingy.
- 5/5
I liked the big room I was in and it was very quiet the whole time I stayed there!
- 3/5
This property is located near downtown. Rooms are ok, a little dirty, t.v. didn't work, no phone in room, you have to go down stairs to the front desk and ask for help. It gets a little noisy at night. Good price compared to other hotel/Motels around the area.
- 5/5
Perfect for a quick overnight trip. Location is perfect for walking around the bar/restaurant scene. The room was comfortable and clean.
- 1/5
Usually don’t waste my time doing reviews but this place was bad. Got there and both my don’t work, first thing I see in the bathroom was a cockroach, it smelled like weed, and there wasn’t any body towels, there was only two face towels. And I booked this place for two night, ended up packing up everything and never came back for my second night. I knew what I was getting myself into because of the location but I didn’t think it would be this bad
- 1/5
The accommodations were downright scary Everything was filthy The fridge was broken There was a burn mark on the toilet I’ve stayed in waaaaay better for 90$!!!
- 0.5/5
Cockroaches on my pillow and all over the ceiling!!!! No parking !
- 2.5/5
Noisy, not as clean as I like
- 0.5/5
Only it's location I changed rooms 3 times because something don't work and the building is almost never maintained. Some rooms don't have a working air conditioner, some smell like weed, some have broken curten, and almost all of the furniture is very old and broken
- 1/5
The TV didn’t work. The lighting was dark and dingy. The bed was uncomfortable. While we were out, they removed the used towels and didn’t replace them. While the location was relatively good, avoid this property if possible.
- 2/5
The check in was easy. The guy that checked me in was not the nicest. The room smelled clean, the walls were gross and dirty. The bathroom was dirty and so was the floor. The elevator is gross. Could definitely use a cleaning.
- 1/5
This hotel stay was my worst experience. The walls and windows were so thin we could hear the loud traffic all night. The worst part was there was cockroaches! Very unacceptable! I am requesting a full refund since now we have to inspect thoroughly everything we brought to make sure we don’t take any home.
- 4/5
Eace
- 3/5
It's what needed a one night stay, the outside looked way better than the inside!
- 1/5
That I had a place to sleep The service, the fact that I had to keep getting new keys made cause my door lock was broken, the TV didn't work, and they don't provide enough towels or toiletries
- 1/5
This place is very unsafe. Front Lobby door is always locked. My room was dirty. Bathroom door knob was broken. Homeless and drugs everywhere. I ended up going to a Hilton Garden Inn in Elk Grove. Staff was very rude and didn't seem to care about property or the guest. My first night there I was talking to a mom and her 2 young kids next to me. Staff said I couldn't talk to other guest.Very unpleasant stay. I do not recommend this place.
- 1/5
The bed sheets were burned from cigarette, smell a lot like cigarette and it was unsafe
- 4/5
The management was very helpful
- 2/5
No I tell front desk maintenance on parquímetro they no have I park my car on the street
- 3/5
It was for my daughter’s 18th birthday party we had downtown Sacramento. As soon as I walked in the office, a loud conversation was being had and the woman behind the counter didn’t seem pleasant. The elevator to the 2nd floor smelled like pee. The room over all was ok. Fridge didn’t work. The hot water on the sink didn’t work. Shower was ok. Bed wasn’t the greatest.
- 3/5
This hotel looks about 80% better than it did the last time I stayed here a couple years ago. They've clearly did some renovating. Front desk was friendly and even let us come inside after hours instead of being out in the cold trying to talk through glass, which was a pleasant surprise. The room was clean but smelled like old smoke, and there was a crack in the door frame which I could see out into the balcony, meaning privacy was very limited. The area is not the best, nor the worst. but parking is in front so everyone can see the cars, making it unlikely to be broken into. Elevator was slow and dirty. No liquor stores anywhere in walking distance. Overall, I didn't expect the Hilton for the price I paid, so I'm satisfied with the hotel providing what it promotes.
- 2/5
This place had no hot water for three days (literally) and when I asked them, they had an excuse. It had roaches as well
- 1/5
I have never stayed at a more sketchy and dirty hotel in my life. The whole hotel look like it was falling apart, and I could take pictures of the inside all day to show you how incredibly nasty and deteriorating this room was. The front door had a huge gap, and I could take my fingers through and be outside. The drywall was rotted, it smelt like cigarettes. The bathroom door wouldn’t close because the screws on the hinges were stripped. Drywall peeling everywhere. I would have rather slept in my car than sleep there. Will request refund due to the horrible quality I had to sleep in.
- 1/5
Nothing was
- 3/5
We had a large group and just needed a place to sleep at night. That was about all that we got. The hotel website says it has wifi and free continental breakfast, neither of which was operating while we were there. The rooms are definitely in need of some structural repairs. There's gaps in the doors. The road noise is terrible. It sounded like I was sleeping on the sidewalk. Randomly we had room keys stop opening doors during our stay. It served its purpose for our needs but I felt a little mislead by others reviews on this property and probably wouldnt have chosen it if the reviews had been a little more realistic.
- 5/5
If you are a cheap bitter Karen queen, this place may not be for you.
- 1/5
Couldn’t sleep felt something on my leg and seen cockroaches in the morning. I was worried for bed bugs and see. Stains it was just so disgusting.
- 4/5
Walking distance to Convention center very noisy street in early morning
- 4/5
Internet refrigerator microwave Ambulances go bye
- 2/5
Clean, bed fine. Only 1 overhead light, missing 1 of 2 bulbs, no lamps, could barely see. Tv turned on but could not access any channels so no tv. Not a single waterglass or even plastic cup for water, or brushing teeth. No coffeepot. No conditioner. Linens (2 tiny towels) and a washcloth clean but size and thickness of towels found in the back of your great grandma’s linen closet from 1950. Not even close to standard quality of a hotel charging almost 100 bucks a night. Good hot water in shower though.
- 1/5
Couldn’t even check in. Had to find somewhere else as there was no staff there.
- 2/5
I could not find a hair dryer when I needed one. No coffee in the morning. And nobody answered the office door in the morning either.
- 3/5
The place was dirty, the door had no insulation and we got to hear all the outside noise. The cars speeding and people in and out at all hours of the night.
- 1/5
found several roaches inside room, and a syringe on room door step.
- 3/5
The room was ok. Nothing exceptional. We had four people and they would only give us two towels, despite asking for more.
- 4/5
Thanks
- 1/5
Wi-fi didn’t work the whole stay , it was cold and the heater would turn off , water was freezing cold first night and next morning , multiple charger plugs but only 2-4 of them worked , everything was dirty we had to leave and get supplies to wipe down the counters , toilet, and the mirrors. Weird noises like robotic or something it was weird but it was only happening at night. We found a few roaches and roach eggs it was just disgusting.
- 2/5
Very poorly maintained. Not accessible to nearby busses.
- 4/5
Good enough
- 3/5
My room very far from the office didnt connect to the wifi. Changed rooms. Wifi connected but a bit slow. New room the tv didnt work. I plugged in the cable and got it going. Some powet outlets dont work or dont work well. Paid substabtial fee to check in a couple hrs early. For a budget hotel where the ropm was ready, it seems lousy to charge esp when theres no safe place to store luggage. I checked in through a little slot in a window as if im dangerous. All this tells u the type of place it is. Some decent coffee shops nearby tho.
- 1/5
DO NOT STAY THERE PERIOD !!
- 4/5
Suited our needs completely while we were in Sacramento for a music festival.
- 1/5
i would like a refund i only stayed a couple hours
- 5/5
Good location
- 1/5
The place is disgusting room 364 was the first one I took three steps in an saw a roach on the wall by the bed then by a/c I closed the door went back to the office he said without missing a beat "ground floor" I was given the new key card and room 126 I didn't see anything in that room but I didn't stay I was afraid I would wake up with one on me so I left didn't dtay

Capitol City Inn
- 1/5
The guy was let back into his room but the office person told him he was keeping his ID in the office as "collateral". Im all for a dumpy hotel, we dont need anything fancy but the management at this hotel doesnt care about you or your safety. I recommend finding a different dumpy hotel because this one aint it.
- 1/5
I left after 20 minutes my door wasn’t locking
- 5/5
Convenient location.
- 2/5
Cheap, but it's definitely a hotel used for "short stays."
- 4/5
Office people minded theyre own bussiness
- 5/5
Luvlyy
- 3/5
A little bit more security for parking.
- 4/5
Relax stay only
- 1/5
Homeless people trying to get in our room all night. Drug deals outside our door. Prostitution above us. Manager talked thru a little slit in outside window and didnt help. We slept a few hrs then took our items with us for the day because we feared leaving items in room (unsafe). Came back and an apparent homeless guy was in our room in our underwear. Manager said "well you took your stuff so we let someone else use the room. Run!!! Dortt

Dangerous lot of homeless people knocking my door screaming at night and day people yelling trying to get in my room nor recommending
- 1/5
There were no ammenties, toilet was broken , no response from the lobby, limited access cards, no ice buckets or secure parking Towels were limitted to one person It was not pleasant I wanted a refund prior to 3pm deadlines they DID NOT HONOR IT... per the agreement I signed.

- 2/5
Dirty. Smelled like cigarette smoke.
- 5/5
It was a hot day n room had a poor ac
- 1/5
Terrible in every way
- 2/5
Website states check-in is available until midnight. After 5pm I got a call stating check-in ends at 10 pm. My reservation would be cancelled if I couldn't arrive before then. So, in the process of travelling to the hotel I had to make a reservation to stay elsewhere. I would have appreciated a call the day before, or even earlier.
- 4/5
Sketchy neighborhood
- 3/5
Ok. It was sufficient for my parent's delayed train. 1.6 miles away from Amtrak.
- 3/5
For the money and location it’s a good buy. Not fancy but good enough for a couple days.
- 1/5
.
- 2/5
Place was very dirty and beds were not comfortable
- 3/5

- 5/5
Friendly and professional
- 1/5
He smells come from homeless tenants that live in the property. Limited on toilet paper.
- 1/5
I checked in and was there for 15 minutes and just left. There wasn't an extra bar lock on the door, no wifi provided, was just handed a slip of paper with my room number and it said 'no pets'. I was traveling for work and it was unacceptable. I did not feel safe at all! The elevator smelled like urine.
- 3/5
little window for check in an out. Wish i could have gone into the office to check in and out.
- 3/5
The area is dilapidated and didn't feel totally safe. The front desk is behind glass (I wasn't allowed into reception). You have to ring a doorbell to get someone to show up and it takes them a while to show. The bedroom door was missing insulation/sealing around the edges so it let through most street noise. With all that said, the bedroom was actually quite large. The TV was also big. The room, linen, and towels seemed clean. The shower was hot. If you're in a pinch or saving the money is worth the sketchiness, this will serve.
- 3/5
good
- 3/5
This is your place. The room did has refrigerator and microwave. Needs renovation but I believe I saw nicer rooms when the cleaners were working. Maybe I got a room in transition because it was empty.
- 3/5
Property manager was very nice. The hotel is a bit run down inside and out. Also has some questionable people hanging around the property in the evening. If your looking for nothing fancy and not planning on hanging out in the room all day I think it’s fine.
- 1/5
The room was nothing as described. The king bed was two full size mattress pushed together. With stained sheets. The TV did not work and the shower in the tub leaked out. When I tried to contact the front desk to possibly switch rooms. There was no answer.
- 1/5
We requested a non-smoking room, but the moment we walked in we were hit by the smell of cigarettes. The beds were dented, and there were roaches in the sink. I went to sleep and woke up with my clothes smelling like cigarettes and my sinuses feeling like I have a cold. Avoid this place like the plague
- 1/5
The property did not have running hot water throughout the 3 days stay my wife and I had here. When I brought the issue to the staffs attention they asked me to try again later in the day, which we did to no avail. Upon check out I again brought this issue to staffs attention to which we were met with a much attitude. This was an incredibly disappointing stay and the staffs attitude hurt my feelings.
- 1/5
Didn’t get the hotel because front desk would not answer. Don’t book. Scam
- 1/5
Blood on the floors and walls. TV remote didnt control the TV, only the cable box, heater smelled and was incredibly loud.
- 1/5
This place is low end residential. People knocking on our door at 3am. Someone tried to break in through the window while we were sleeping. Someone was cooking h in the parking lot. People screaming all night through the doors of the other "guest's" rooms. Avoid.
- 5/5
Its a best hotel i like it
- 3/5
Staff very nice. Room lacked BASIC amenities such as water glasses, a normally working TV, a clock and a bedside lamp.
- 3/5
The downside is a whole other chapter. From the minute I stepped on to property it felt gross. If I had any spare time I would have cancelled my reservation and gone somewhere else. In hindsight, I probably should have. The check in process was through a plexiglass window (clue #1) and my room key was given to me with a handwritten note saying no smoking, no pets, with my room number on it. I head to my room to use the bathroom and change as I was sitting in traffic for 2 hours. I enter the room and it was big and roomy with an oddly sized bathroom sink area as if it was a kitchenette before. But there was nowhere to sit besides the bed. A desk…..no chair. (Clue #2) I go to the bathroom and the toilet seat is literally hanging off the toilet broken. Whomever checked/cleaned (i doubt it) just left it that way. (Clue #3). I get changed to go to the show and as I sit on the bed I make a strange discovery….plastic covered mattress. It felt gross, it was my 4th clue that I should of moved on from this property but I justified it because of the short amount of time I would be there. Checked the mattress and no bed bugs that I could see. (The only upside to a clear plastic cover) So ultimately this place was a dump unless you plan on staying up all night doing meth
- 3/5
Construction work making building shake and vibrate
- 4/5
Excellent location, safe walking distance to the Convention Center. Restaurants in area. All day parking available. Supportive staff.
- 2/5
Price was right
- 1/5
It appears to be BOTH a ling- term residential hotel AND a hotel that rents by the hour........ Room had a string and overpowering mildew odor, bathroom sink didn't have hot water, and it is a slope ( so water runs into the floor), TV does not work unless you call the hotel manager to reset it, indoor light are harsh fluorescent lights that gave me a headache and he list goes on. The street the hotel is on - 16th Street - is a truck route with LOTS of truck traffic and noise from morning to night. There are no restaurants located ANYWHERE near this hotel. Hotel employees were not available on the morning to check out - and complain- they just had a key slot........this is how bad it is
- 1/5
Absolutely disgusting and will never stay there again
- 3/5
It was alright. Staff was friendly.
- 2/5
The told us we got a smoke free room and man did the room smell like cigarettes and weed. The toilet wasn’t clean and the towels had holes. It was disgusting! I went to 5 and below to buy blankets to put over the bed and man they absorbed the cigarette smell. I’m glad I only stayed the night. Don’t even get me started during the late hours there were screaming with residents at 2 am and 4 am. I couldn’t even sleep do to the whole situation. I will never recommend this place to my family or friends.
- 1/5
The staff was awful and disrespectful. The key did not work to get into the room, and when I asked him for help, they hung up on me overall terrible experience.
- 1/5
Photos of property are either extremely dated or fake! This is a total bait and switch property. Exposed box spring on dirty floor, bedding thradbare, dirt on top of everything, no light in bathroom, security gate lock was missing, and more. Looks like a TV property for drug deals and rooms by the hour. Paid for 2 nights in advance but was unable to get refunded. Expedia accomendation person on phone was useless. Never book under 3 star on Expedia thou this did not even make a 1 star rating.
- 5/5
Clerk Tony was very helpful maid service great will again
- 2/5
Everything feels and looks cheap and gross. Not worth being there :(
