The room did the trick for a quick weekend downtown but please note despite the garage next door having a large sign for hotel over nights it is not affiliated with hotel. Their lot is behind hotel with alley access and most friendly for compact cars as they have squeezed 10 designated spaces in that area. Also, of note there is no pool in case that’s important to you.

I liked the location The online photos of this hotel were NOT at all what was in our room!!!! The website is very misleading! The room was not clean, old and dirty toilets...had Walmart cheap floor lamps in the room, 1 did not work... The old ass wall air condition did not cool our room... we traveled with 2 other couples who had to exchange their rooms they were so dirty... and got half of their money back...this trip was not at all good.....I also forgot to mention, you have to pay for parking at this hotel,,, in a parking garage that's not connected to the hotel.. cost through the hotel is 27.00 a day.. parking lot across the street is 40.00 a day...

Staff was helpful in changing our room to get our 2 rooms closer together. I booked 2 rooms with balconies and the rooms were separated so we could not share our outdoor space. There were empty rooms between us and I thought they would have put us together originally. But they did correct this issue after we asked. The rooms were nice and were clean. The hotel had charm and was well maintained. We did have an issue of charges to our credit card that were not ours. The hotel said that they did not see these charges but they showed up on my card and were listed from the hotel. I was able to have this corrected by my credit card company but had to have my card changed because of fraud. Cannot understand how my card was used and charged to the hotel. Someone with access to my card number was responsible. This gave me an uncomfortable feeling about the security of the organization. Would not feel safe using this organization in the future.

Our stay at this hotel was extremely enjoyable. The front desk staff provided outstanding customer service, parking was convenient and reasonably priced, and the hotel's aesthetic was impressive. The balcony offered a lovely view of La Villita and the Tower of the Americas. The hotel's location is ideal for exploring the Riverwalk, with numerous shops and restaurants within walking distance. We valued the unique boutique hotel experience and the fact that it is locally owned and operated. The beds were very comfortable and the air conditioning was cool and refreshing, which is essential in Texas's hot and humid weather. We highly recommend this authentic San Antonio gem!!

We were here during Fiesta Week and La Villita was behind the hotel, which made it very helpful to enjoy the local foodfare and music excitement. Access to the Riverwalk was only steps away. The Riverwalk is a most wonderful walking path along the river with botanical plants everywhere and river barges which we enjoyed riding and hearing the history of San Antonio including Ben Milan and the beginning of a quest for a free Texas. The Riverwalk also has restaurants, and local entertainment , and an outdoor theater. The King William neighborhood is south of the O'Brien which offered another Fiesta Festival with street vendors and Foodfare. the San Antonio River is also accessible for a pleasant stroll. All along the Riverwalk are restaurants and The Guenther Restaurant and the view of their Flour Mill is open for a great breakfast,The restaurant is located in the King William neighborhood.

paid parking was in the garage next door, but the cheapest in the riverwalk area of San Antonio. This is an older historic building (well maintained), so slight gaps in the balcony door is to be expected (but such a nice balcony with a view to take in a snack or just gaze at the view!) Wonderful staff and the coffee was great! You do get a microwave and fridge if you are trying to be thrifty with the wonderful San Antonio food, especially the Thai place next door.

Before arriving, call and they will register your vehicle for the parking Navarro Street garage. Approx. $27 for parking. Park in garage adjacent to the hotel. You can pay through the QR code in the garage they posted on the walls, you'll see it or at the hotel. Paid a $50 refundable deposit for incidentals. Smalls snacks and drinks available for purchase at the front. Room was nice an cool. We had a fan and AC. Hotel has that old historic charm♡ The rest room had a jetted tub. It worked but didn't use it. Shampoo, conditioner and body wash were provided in refillable bottles attached to the shower wall and fairly nice fluffy towels. Room was nice, cool and comfy and had a microwave, mini fridge, ironing board and blow dryer. Beds were fine, not pillow top or anything. We loved that the room was right off the Riverwalk! We went walked the riverwalk to get to Legoland Discovery and it was about a 12 min walk and about the same walking to the Rainforest Café. Staff was great. We had a great stay and will be back♡

To make matters worse, there was no iron available in the room, which is a basic amenity I expect when traveling. When I reached out to the staff for assistance, they were not attentive at all. Their attitude came across as dismissive and unhelpful, which only added to the frustration. As a point of comparison, I’ve stayed at Motel 6 locations that I would gladly rate 5 stars, which really highlights how poor this experience was. Overall, between the poor cleanliness, bad smell from the AC, lack of basic amenities, and unprofessional staff, I would not recommend staying here.

However, when I called from the train to notify the hotel staff that my train might be delayed, the person answering was confusing and said if I came in after 1 am my reservation might be canceled. Since I had prepaid, I was not pleased, plus I was talking about a delay that might get me in close to midnight not after 1 am. I walked into a freezing room, which I could manage, but there was not an extra blanket in the room. There is a lengthy list of potential charges for missing or damaged items that ran a full page which I have never seen before in decades of travel. At the same time there was not information on amenities, TV channels, etc. plus there was no tissue box in the room. To use the Netflix, a person had to use their personal account. Only free accounts were available to guests. I don’t travel with my passwords so this also was inconvenient. Although I liked the property, the location and some of the staff, I had a mixed reaction to my stay.

"Historic" in this case does not mean "charming." If only the room was as cute as the main floor. It's falling apart old, and the patched 'repairs' are done with an apparent lack of pride. It's sad. Where to park while you check in? I guess park across the street while you pay for your parking garage pass, then move your car before you have to pay at the lot. The room was shabby. One info card had outdated instructions, others were waterlogged and dusty. I've never seen a list of costs for getting something dirty! No make up remover provided, but if you get makeup on a washcloth it will cost you 5 bucks, so be warned. (Cost rises from there!) Lots of street noise (Friday night?) It was cheaper than nice hotels, but it wasn't cheap enough to make me feel like I got a bargain. If possible, save up for a nice hotel on the River Walk. If not, then at least you are forewarned.

It's an old hotel, but our room was VERY musty smelling. It was pretty rough and took some getting used to. And we needed our refrigerator to store food, but it had a leak making it unusable. The manager couldn't do anything so that issue was not resolved. The only positive was the riverwalk was very close by. That was our main reason for staying at this hotel. However we would probably stay somewhere else next time. The lady at the front desk was kind and tried to help with our fridge, but she couldn't fix it herself. Parking was very convenient.

The room was pretty clean, though there were many towel, carpet, and furniture stains. It’s great for its location downtown, but my friend stayed at the Menger for the same exact price and got many more amenities and it was an excellent hotel in comparison to this one. The staff here were friendly. It was a fine hotel, though I’d probably look for something nicer next time. The soaps, shampoo, and conditioner were all watered down and everything else was obviously very cheap. This hotel ran out of hot water one morning, and the water shut off entirely one evening. I would have felt better about my experience here if this hotel spent more money on itself for their guests’ comfort.

There was food smeared all over the desk chair, the night stand had wet drink rings on it, and there was a tomato slice laying on the ground under the tv stand that was still there when I left because I didn't want to touch it. I'll be it'll be there for months. I paid with a state credit card which means they needed to remove the state taxes from the bill, but they either can't or won't. Trying to get that situation rectified through the Hotels.com customer service chat took almost an hour, and in the end they could not do what I needed them to do. The lesson I learned is that it's better to book the stay directly with the hotel I'm staying at, because at least I can call them and deal with any problems directly, instead of dealing with a call center overseas. I also learned that I paid $50 per night more by using this service than if I had just called the hotel and booked directly, and Hotels.com cannot provide an itemized bill. Pretty dissatisfying experience.

We called in advance, regarding the parking lot. And also asked to make sure we can get our room in time or a little earlier. They said on the phone only at 3 pm as the reservation says. We went there, and the room was not ready. It was 3:03 pm, and the lady was rude, she said with an attitude it is 3:03 when we told her the check in is at 3pm. She said we have to wait. We had to wait another 30 minutes. The room was not even clean, it had a bad smell, and we got allergic spots by next morning sleeping in the bed, itching it was horrible. I will never choose this hotel ever again.

Love this little boutique hotel. It is in a great location. Stayed 3 nights. Enjoyed the balcony space and the lounge/sitting area. Room is fully equipped with TV, fridge, microwave, coffee maker, hairdryer, etc. Staff was very courteous. My only complaint is that the bed is not plush, and there is only a blanket and no bedspread or comforter. I still had a good night’s sleep regardless.

As soon as you walked in the room it smelled of urine, there were white stains on the atoman, black stains on the sheets, night stand had smudges and fingerprints all over it and there was soda cups full of soda left in the common area for a full day. This place looked nothing like the pictures advertised. It looked extremely run down with several real bad patch attempts on the walls. I'm very disappointed and will most definitely never be returning. The only good things about this place were its location to the river walk and the young lady at the counter who has barely started working there a few days ago but is doing a great job!

Although it was a handicap room the access was not great. First the shower had no railings and access issues. Then hot water only got slightly warm after we went down to discuss it with the front desk because the phone did not work at all. The hot water only got slightly warm if you turned on the cold water at the sink and let it run for nearly10 min and left it running as you showered in lukewarm water. So, trust me, it was not an eco-friendly establishment. So much wasted water. The room was acceptable although the beds seemed to me as old as the building. Trust me, I think camping in my van at the side of the road would have been better than this!

The hotel was cute and full of characters. We love the friendly staff. It was literally walking distance from riverwalk, la villita area. Parking was next to the hotel, easy access but do call ahead during holiday seasons because the garage is public parking. The hotel was not very well sound proofed and they do not offer breakfast, only light snacks and bottled beverages. It is a cashless hotel, but you must tip housekeeping cash, they will not let you leave them tips on your credit card.

The bed is outdated. The bedding looked worn. Pillows weren’t comfortable. Our room door u could see the inside of the room without even opening it. Same with the balcony door. The tub knobs only one worked. We couldn’t even use the bath option because it didn’t work. The restroom door creaked so loud that it won’t up my son in the middle of the night. The room just felt musty and old. You could see the dust on the plastic around the lamp shades. The day that we were leaving I woke up with a bug bite mark on my neck that wasn’t there before i went to bed. I would happily offer my services to freshen up the entire hotel. They have lots of outdated decor and everything just looks worn down.

The staff was very nice upon check in. The staff when I called to reserve parking was not extremely helpful and did not explain that the parking area was as labeled public parking. The hotel was very cute and clean. I booked a king bed with a balcony view and received 2 double beds with balcony view. The balcony was less than I expected after seeing the pictures online. In hindsight I should have requested the room I booked because the double beds were hard as a rock and the sheets felt like sandpaper. (Same for the towels). The showers had hot water for the first few minutes and so so water pressure. If you are planning a trip to San Antonio and only want a place to sleep within a very reasonable dollar amount - then yes stay here. But don’t expect a luxury stay in a historic hotel like I did.

Staff was fine. Location was fine. But…. The room…. Where to start. Had jetted tub and it leaked and wouldn’t stay full. Caulking is all gone or cracked with mold behind the toilet. Bath fan doesn’t work. Tv would not turn on, had to do it by hand. Then remote would work to change channels but not volume. And have to get up to turn off. Even after 3 different remotes. Room next door leaked water in on the floor in our room. They put a towel on it…. You can hear everything through the bath vents that don’t work from two rooms down. Clearly hear conversations. So… not a great stay.

Stayed at the O’Brien for 2 nights during State Marching Band Competition. Check-in was a breeze. Did not get the girls’name but she was very pleasant, helpful with all of our questions and told us about the history of the hotel. We were amused to find out that the hotel was once a brothel!! If you’re looking for a “chain” hotel type this is not it! The hotel is small (I believe we were told 39 rooms) and quaint. The rooms are pretty small but we found our room to be clean and comfortable. We were upgraded to a balcony room with a view of Tower of Americas. Our room had a coffee maker, microwave and small refrigerator in it. Be aware they do not serve a breakfast or have a bar. Parking was either a small lot in the back or a parking garage next door. Price for parking is $25 a night unlimited in and out. Riverwalk entrance is about 1 block away and you are very close to the main part of the Riverwalk. Great location for walking to the Riverwalk,Alamo and downtown attractions. La Villita is just across the street behind the hotel. Sarah that works at the front desk was beyond helpful. She gave me everything I needed. Give me some good tips on places to eat and was very kind.

While the staff was polite and check-in was smooth, the overall experience felt misleading. I chose this property based on what was shown online, and it was frustrating to find them absent upon arrival. Accuracy in descriptions is crucial for travelers, and I hope the hotel updates their website to reflect the reality of the rooms.

This is a fantastic hotel! Conveniently located walking distance to the Riverwalk and other attractions. Parking is a little tricky, but there is a parking garage next door for a fee. The room was very nice and comfortable. The front staff was accommodating and very friendly. This was our second stay here and we will be returning! FYI, all of the rooms on the first floor have jetted tubs. They were a little difficult for someone like me with short legs to get in to shower, but manageable. There was also, a coffee pot and cold mini fridge. See you soon, O’Brien!

Location was great, close to the riverwalk and easy access to get around. Love staying at older historic hotels. Receptionist that checked us in was awesome and very nice to talk to. Room maintenance and housekeeping was lacking. Found trash left under the side of the bed and the bathroom repairs (or lack of) on the ceiling were subpar even for an older hotel.

The stay was overall good. I’d say the parking was terrible. We parked across the street for less. I would think parking would be discounted. The common areas were very hot. We couldn’t enjoy the common area for sure. The staff was friendly and the rooms were clean. I wish the rooms had better lighting.

Very interesting seemed creepy smelt like a funeral home. And the restroom showers did not have any shampoo or conditioner no wash cloth to wash your self. After a 5 hour trip I realized I forgot my stuff at home I definitely did not feel like jumping out of the shower to go ask these rooms should be ready for all guests

I liked the historic feel. Your website showed the balcony over looking the Riverwalk. Very deceptive. That was the main reason we booked with you. Are balcony over looked a parking lot. There was no exhaust fan in the bathroom causing the whole room to feel humid and sticky. The AC worked great. Robert was great.

Nowhere to fill water bottles. No room cleaning, shower head was broken, no conditioner, front desk attendant nowhere in sight when trying to check out, and we had trouble getting out of the parking garage because the front desk attendant hadn’t put our license plate in the system hours after we’d checked in.

I'll preface this by saying the hotel and location are not terrible, however there are some things to note. 1. BE AWARE I booked a king room with a balcony abd when I arrived it was an ADA room with two double beds and a VERY bad shower. I spoke to the front desk and sent 4 messages and no one has contacted me. I was more frustrated because this wasn't communicated. I was told it "automatically" did this in the system? I get things happen but how was I never notified of the change? Front desk lady (who was sweet but seemed inexperienced) said she'd "speak to the manager". Im well aware that's a tactic to appease a customer and not actually find a solution. Our second day here there was a lady going down for the sane issue, so Id call to confirm your booking, even then Id be prepared for "automatic" changes. 2. The water on the second floor takes 6-7 minutes to heat up and when it does it's barely above lukewarm. 3. You have to pay nearly $30 a NIGHT for parking in the garage. I get it, it's San Antonio, but this blindsides you unless you read the small print. Altogether the stay was sufficient but we will not be returning. I know the price point is attractive but there are other hotels in that price range with better amenities and customer service. Im interested to see if a manager or customer service actually reaches out to me. As of 7-28-25 I've had no response and I will update this if they do.

It’s listed as a “boutique hotel” but there are no frills. There is no pool. There is no breakfast since Covid. The TV was a Roku and only had some free streaming Chanel’s. The room had a mini fridge and microwave. The WiFi worked. It was clean. It looked ok. The best part was it was about two short city blocks to the riverwalk and the parking was a third of what the other area hotels charged.

Such a beautiful and cozy hotel. Totally got the historic vibe from our stay, the 3rd floor common area was gorgeous! Great location within 5 mins walking distance to all the fun activities near the Riverwalk. Amazing food options all so nearby. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Only downside is that free parking is not included with reservation and costs about $23/day but other than that a great stay!

Small but cute boutique hotel in downtown San Antonio. Staff was amazing from the start. Rooms are small and quaint but comfortable. It's a no frills historic hotel but that is definitely not a negative. The only complaint I have is that the ac wall unit illuminates more light than I care for at night.

As a whole hotel was super comfortable. Nice bed, restroom, ac, etc. With that being said rooms as a whole need to be updated, or just fixed up. You can look at the walls and see previous holes in the drywall that have been patched but not a good job what’s so ever. Just little details that catch my eye that could use some reworking. Other than the little things it’s a nice place.

Location Location Location… I could walk to the Alamo, several points on the Riverwalk, to La Villita, to Shilo’s Deli, to Briscoe Museum , to clubs, restaurants and even CVS pharmacy. Two great amenities not mentioned on the website in addition to coffee maker were microwave and refrigerator. The balcony was great and onsite parking ($25) was easy and convenient. Good mattress and pillows. Quiet and restful. Staff was responsive! Although no food service on site, there are many dining options nearby.

We reserved rooms months ahead and requested them to be next to one another since we're traveling with a person with special needs. The request was not honored, instead we were on different floors entirely. Rooms were nice and clean. Area was good, only 2-minute walk to the Riverwalk.

Convenient location. Saved quite a bit of money over the swanky big chain hotels nearby. Nice balcony to the room. The room was clean and fine. Didn't appreciate having to ask for things: more kleenex, more body wash, more towels. And the room AC didn't work well -- too cold and couldn't adjust much.

We had a very pleasant stay! The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. While the building has an older charm, the rooms were clean, tidy, and well-maintained. The location is fantastic—close to many great restaurants and attractions. Although breakfast isn’t offered, it wasn’t a problem for us given the variety of nearby options. Parking was conveniently located and reasonably priced, just something to keep in mind when planning your stay. A big thank you to the staff for their excellent hospitality!

The hotel notified me that they were having elevator problems. I didn’t get the message since I was traveling. That was most appreciated and they also secured parking for me at their cost because of the inconvenience.

The elevator was working, so that was good. It was a few minutes walk from the Riverwalk. Covered parking garage, with in and out privileges, was next door to the hotel. Unfortunately, the hotel had a mildew smell. I believe it contributed to my sore throat the next morning. The shared balcony was a nice place to relax.

I enjoyed the convenience of the hotel and how close it was to every thing. The staff were friendly and nice. I didn’t understand how I payed $20 for parking through hotel and still paid $60 for parking through the garage which was the designated parking area for hotel. My room when booking stated jetted tub which was not what we had got or if that is even available due to the hotel being old but so is much of San Antonio. Overall I really enjoyed the convenience of the hotel. I do feel a little mislead with the original description of hotel and parking.
