Reviews
The hotel staff is consistently praised for their friendliness and helpfulness. However, the room size is a common complaint, with many guests finding them too small. The location is generally seen as convenient, but safety concerns are frequently raised due to the presence of homeless people in the surrounding area.

My stay was great, small room but very clean and cute. I didn’t get my code to enter through the main entrance and code for my room, but you can call the number on the main entrance door and they will provide it to you after you confirm your personal information.

Nice courtyard with outdoor seating and yard games. Squeaky clean room. Great place!
- 5/5
Amazing
- 5/5
The rooms are fairly small. Perfect for simple over nights. Noise isn’t too bad at night.
- 5/5
Conveniently located to Downtown San Diego in an historic building. On demand hot water cooler was very helpful and the guests and staff were very friendly.
- 1/5
Room was disgusting. Sheets had stains and obviously weren’t washed, there was trash laying all over the room when I checked in. Don’t stay here, go to an actual hotel.
- 5/5
The location is a perfect middle ground to the military bases, downtown activities, and the beach. Parking on the street is free 8pm-8am. There are different room sizes available so choose wisely. I chose a smaller room for my temporary stay. The room is so cute and overly clean. There is a fridge, microwave, smart tv, and a few other basic amenities. I definitely recommend this for your short or long term stays.

- 1/5
Booked a room and there was no one even there to check me in so I wasn’t able to get inside the building or get my code for my room
- 5/5
Great communication from the property owners. The check-in process was smooth, and I had no troubles. I got lucky with street parking:) Just as mentioned, expect some noise outdoors secondary to its location. My one small gripe is the bathroom had a ‘mildewy’ smell—but that probably comes from the plumbing and pipes in those types of buildings in general. Overall, would stay again:)
- 5/5
All good
- 5/5
Todo al 100%
- 5/5
The codes that was sent in order to get into the hotel was really good. The spaces around the hotel was very neat and well kept. The colors that were in the hotel brought out a little happiness in you and it was overall very fun to stay at especially for the location.
- 5/5
Better response time would be better; took awhile to get the codes to enter the property and my room. Would also be nice to have bigger towels; they were a bit small to dry off with after showering. Besides all that; great place. Clean; newly renovated. Front desk guy was cool. One thing I did have issue with was the homelessness. Shady characters hanging around the property. Would be nice if the property owners/managers had a nice relationship with SDPD to help move/keep the homeless out of the area. Besides all that; I’d rate my stay 4.5/5 stars.
- 3/5
The place is not bad — for the price, it’s acceptable. However, it was strange to have a bathroom without a washbasin and to have to shave in the kitchen. The people are friendly while you’re there, but they do not respond to requests once you leave. Even now, one month later, I’m still trying to get the invoice for my payment and I’m still waiting. Not a great experience in that way., otherwise, an okay place to stay in you have a low budget.
- 4/5
It was a little bit loud sometimes, you could hear the neighbors arguing. The room was small but it's fine. Also there was no elevator, so we had to take our luggage to the second floor by ourselves.
- 5/5
The room was nice and cozy, had a kitchenette. A big screen TV, with Netflix and Hulu. The room was a lil small but for the price I could not complain..
- 5/5
Could use a chair or bedside table.
- 4.5/5
The deluxe studio had a nice layout/setup. It was perfect for two people. The hotel's location is pretty central to San Diego, so it's easy to get around to the various areas and attractions. The refrigerator wasn't really cold enough. The nearby parking lots they referred to were supposedly closed for an event, but remained empty for the entire stay.
- 5/5
This place was great! Parking was easy and great at communication
- 5/5
Cute room. Clean and freshly decorated.
- 4/5
I'd like little bit more space.
- 4/5
Good spot if you have no personal transport
- 2.5/5
The smell was weird. I found cockroach in the bathroom and hair in the shower. The curtains faced a hallway and they didn’t close very well, so anyone can see through them. I didn’t feel comfortable there.
- 4/5
Location is nice The Bed could have been more comfortable
- 5/5
Loved this hotel. I’m from San Diego so I always love having a comfortable place to stay when I come home to visit. Thank you!
- 5/5
Parking was easy and nearby. The room was clean, the kitchen had what I needed.

Enjoyed our stay for the most part, booked online and received a phone call a few hours before check in letting me know they could no longer accommodate my request because they didn't have the 2 nights I originally was confirmed for but only had one night available. I was told I had to call the booking agency myself and have them fix it. They changed my reservation to just one night and the next morning when I went to book a new hotel it showed this same hotel had 2 rooms available. When I called to confirm they said yes they did, just not the one we stayed in and I needed to rebook again and come back later for a new room. I'm not sure why from the beginning they didn't just offer a different room that was available for both nights when we hadn't even checked in. It would have saved me the hassle of checking in then out just to come back hours later and check in again and out the next day. Aside from that the from was clean, if you're looking for somewhere budget friendly and downtown I would recommend.

- 3.5/5
Good location, clean room , nice decor
- 4.5/5
Nice location and the rooms were very clean.
- 2/5
Walls are paper thin. Rooms are tiny, beds are slabs of concrete
- 5/5
The space was clean and well-tended. The room was very comfortable and the bathroom was impeccable. The owners made me feel very comfortable and were very communicative during my travel to and from the room. I would recommend this space to single travelers going through San Diego.
- 3/5
Clean room. Tv, shower, bed. Nothing crazy but definitely a good option for single travelers.
- 5/5
Clean room. Perfect size for a short stay. Room cute and cozy.
- 4.5/5
It is minimally staffed (no front desk) but they are very responsive to messages.
- 5/5
There needs to be extension cords or outlets by the bed.
- 4/5
Great for an overnight- comfy bed, clean bathroom, big TV
- 3/5
Great space for simple travelers! Comfortable area and close to beach, shops, and nightlife. However the rooms were significantly warm even with a/c being turned down. Room service is not available. Need to ask for new towels-Only provided with one set per guest on a multiple day stay. Staff is helpful when present!
- 2/5
Room extremely small and it was sharing a wall with the front desk. No privacy at all, and no view
- 4/5
Prívate, easy check in. No mirror in the room.
- 4/5
We couldn't figure out how to get the water to come out of the shower head instead of the bathtub.
- 3.5/5
good location, not a lot of guests, no children. Good that there was actually a person at reception, but he had forgotten to text us our code. We had to remind him. And 4 PM is a little late to check in and to have to remind someone to text me. room was a little cramped or not well designed, but the fridge and stove were great for someone who might stay longer.
- 2/5
The location. The room size. Hotel: Balboa Park Hotel (also signed as Neon Elm Hote819”} I recently stayed at this property (listed as Balboa Park Hotel, though the exterior signage says Neon Elm Hotel, which was a bit confusing at arrival). The room itself is very nice and well set up especially if you’re staying for an extended period. The property is centrally located in San Diego, which is convenient. However, there were a few issues. The check-in process took over 10 minutes while my passport was being reviewed, without much explanation. I also did not receive the Wi-Fi name or password beforehand, and the network didn’t initially appear in my room, which made getting connected frustrating. The biggest drawback is the noise level. The walls and floors are quite thin, and you can hear people walking upstairs, dropping items, and general movement throughout the building. If you’re a light sleeper or looking for a very quiet stay, this may not be ideal. Overall, I would rate it about a 7.5/10. It’s a nice property with a good location, but improvements in communication and soundproofing would make a big difference.
- 3/5
The hotel is appealing outside and inside. I was aware. There's no parking given directly at the hotel and had to find street parking. I wouldn't say that there's enough tree parking anywhere so it was definitely a struggle to find a place to park. That really wasn't a bother. I like to walk. So if you stay here, go expect the park close. The hotel we were given was a handicap room. So I'm assuming that's why there's so much waste in the room. There's no chair, nowhere to store your luggage, and no night sounds told your phone or glasses are anything. They have the space to add nightstands for sure. And then the kitchenette it came with I wouldn't call it a kitchenette. I mean it just has sink and the huge fridge. And you can't even prep at the sink because there's no counter space. Even though on the wall that's empty on the side of it. They could definitely add a space for meal prepping. They also mentioned that the hotel would be noisy outside. I would say insight was more noisy. You could hear everybody talking at that front desk area. Especially the workers like why are the workers standing right there? Talking and talking and talking the whole time. I could hear their whole conversation. My room doesn't come with any curtains so it's really really bright in the room and then the restroom is large enough to have extra space. But again they kept the bare bones and there's nowhere to do your makeup or anything. Room 126 it one doesn't come with AC that you can control!
- 5/5
Although it was an unstaffed location, the host always checked in on us via message. Great stay!
- 5/5
Awesome stay. Nice distance to multiple places
- 5/5
Room was wonderful front desk gentleman was wonderful it was perfect for me !
- 5/5
The whole place was very clean and the attendants helpful and they made sure that we had a good experience.
- 2/5
Nobody at desk and they no answer the phone to check out.
- 5/5
Loved the room! Easy access to Balboa Park!
- 1/5
The behavior of the front desk clerk was highly unprofessional and far below any reasonable hospitality standard. Nothing about this hotel resembles a normal or acceptable place to stay. I attempted to get a refund, but the third-party booking company (an online service that uses AI support) refused, stating that we had “agreed to the terms.” That response was unacceptable given the circumstances. This hotel should not be operating. The experience was disturbing, misleading, and unsafe. Stay away.
- 3/5
Room was clean enough. Air Conditioning is not good as I don't have any control over the temperature.
- 5/5
Clean room and bathroom
- 5/5
Beautiful place and great hospitality. Very clean and quiet.
- 5/5
Everything was great! From parking , privacy, cleanliness and price.. Totally will return.
- 5/5
Easy, safe and comfortable.
- 5/5
Great room, stocked kitchen with utensils plates etc. Very friendly manager and quick responses to text/email messages.
- 1/5
Horrible property.
- 4/5
The room was simple but had everything I needed.
- 4/5
The kitchen was a fridge, sink and microwave. It wasn't really ever necessary for me but im glad it at least had a microwave. The place serves its purpose and i was very close to eveything i wanted to do. Overall id come back here if needed. I appreciate the cleanliness but the check in process was sorta different.
- 1/5
I didn't like the fact that we shared a bathroom, shared a shower space and when people left nextdoor it was a loud sound. The pictures online you really need to update and put it bold letters about sharing a toilet with many others and showers as well. I would of not made a reservation if I read the description was better and if the pictures were better and maybe if the sharing the bathroom was connected to a door instead of watching thirty feet down the hall.
- 5/5
Sweet little spot
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
Clean room and facility. The shared Restroom in always clean too. Perfect for solo traveler who needs a place to sleep.
- 4/5
The location of this Hotel is great. Everything was clean and I felt safe won’t be added security gate. HOWEVER we had to pay $41 for parking overnight in a paid parking lot and it was not evident on the listing the parking may be an issue. There is no on site parking and we spent a good chunk of time looking for the best options. Unfortunately settling on the expensive lot because nothing else was available. Nothing wrong with this hotel. Just wish we had known the parking situation upfront.
- 5/5
Street noise is kind of out of your hand we get that

One of the weirder hotel stays. No hotel parking whatsoever. You have to find parking on the street. You can though, it's not too crowded with cars. The young woman that was walking the halls was nice enough, but there's almost no human contact. No one at a front desk or anything. Codes to get into the building and into your rooms. Everything is done through text. The room was ok, satisfactory enough but the neighborhood is extremely suspect and kinda sketchy. There's a lot of homeless on the streets and walking around the blocks so be prepared. Lucky I was there for only one night; I don't see how I could have stayed more than that at that location. I really hate writing these kinds of reviews, but I have to be honest.
- 2/5
This is a digital hotel with limited staff on sight. We were supposed to receive our codes to get in at time of check in but we didn’t and we ended up having to call 15 minutes after the check in time since we did not receive any of our information. The person I spoke to stated that they were working on our room still trying to make sure it’s ready and to give them 2 minutes to check in on it. We waited outside until a staff member let us in to wait in the lobby and there is where we met a few other people who were having the same issue where they still had not received any of the room information. After 5/10 mins pass we get our information and head to room when we realize that theirs someone in our room still and it ended up being the maintenance guy. He stated that the shower had been backed up and he was trying to fix it and that it would probably take him another 15/20 minutes. Usually this wouldn’t be a huge issue but we were in town for a concert and on a time crunch to get ready so we needed our room at the time stated that we could check in. We ended up asking the maintenance guy if we could just be in the room to start getting ready and he was really nice and let us and eventually just asked us if we would like him to come back the next day after we check out to finish his work and in the meantime we could use the other public showers in the facility if needed. Our room was also super hot and the AC was not working at first and the guy had to tell the front desk.
- 5/5
Super nice and comfortable to stay! Parking is a little hard to find but other than that the location and hotel is great!
- 1/5
There’s Nats flying around the room and dishes were dirty and had puddles of water in between glass plates and bowls the A/C never gets warm we had to use the oven because the room kept getting extremely cold
- 5/5
Hotel location was very convenient for my visit.. it also was chill and peaceful.. will be back again
- 3/5
The room was very small and noisy, with no way to adjust the temperature. The curtain was damaged, and being at street level made privacy a concern. Cleanliness could have been better, and the entire bed protecting cover was covered in stains. Other guests in the building were very noisy, and the large number of homeless people outside the building also added to the disturbance. Customer service was virtually nonexistent. Additionally, their website stated that washers and dryers were available, but there were none on-site. 2 out of 5 stars.

My fiancé and I stayed at this hotel in August. I initially booked a room with an en suite bathroom, but somehow I ended up in a room with a shared bathroom. I don't blame the hotel for this, but the travel website. Anyway, the hotel customer service person (phone call) went out of their way to switch me to another room. I really appreciated that. The rooms are nice, modern, and walking distance to Little Italy. The only small complaint I have is the rooms do not have air-conditioning. Normally in San Diego this isn't a big deal, but it happened to be hot that night and there was construction that started early in the morning. Suffice it to say, having the window open was not pleasant due to the noise. Also, there is no attendant on site, so if you're looking for a place with a front desk person, this is not the place for you. Everything is none by codes, similar to Airbnb.
- 5/5
The place is fantastic. My favorite hotel of all time
- 5/5
Very nice space. Small, but with everything you need. I would have wanted maybe an extra hairdryer, but I managed. Enough amenities, easy checkin and check-out, fast communication with the property. Fan working excellent. After my first day the AC was on without me asking...but the staff control it quickly before freezing :)) Very close to the park and Downtown. Overall a good experience.
- 2/5
If you’re looking for a place to just sleep at and be out during the day, this is it. It was nice and easy to navigate. However their customer service was terrible. We were locked out of our room for 2 hours without food, water, no car keys. The lockbox for our room wouldn’t enter a new code even when they reset it. We continuously called to check for updates but there was nothing they could do for 2 hours and there was no staff on duty since it was after hours. We finally got into our room at almost midnight. After this incident I emailed the hotel to resolve this issue but sadly they ignored me.
- 5/5
Everything was ok. Thank you!
- 5/5
Chill vibes
- 5/5
Everyone was really nice. And the room was more than I expected .
- 2/5
The room was very small, which isn't that big of a deal in and of itself for a solo room; however, it definitely wasn't what was advertised. When it said there was a shared bathroom, I expected a conjoined bathroom with another room not a closet with a toilet and no sink across the hall. I had to shoulder the door open to my room, the internet was spotty, and the walls were thin enough for me to hear people walking around the hallway. The room was clean at least, the building and decor were cool, and it was cozy enough for a single person just stopping over for one night. But considering it felt more like a fancy hostel than a hotel, it certainly wasn't worth the price they're asking.
- 1/5
This is not a hotel but rather a semi converted hostel. No parking for guests. They tell you to park on the street which in downtown San Diego is all metered and you wouldn't want to leave your vehicle overnight in that sketchy neighborhood anyway. Horrible. We left without staying and they are refusing a refund.
- 1/5
I had booked a 5 day stay and I left in three hours.
- 1/5
Rooms have no restrooms, No air conditioning, No parking and outdated. I would never rent again and not worth the money. Overnight parking was 40dlls a day and 2.50 hr at the street parking meters.
- 3/5
Overall thought the stay was great, just needed a place to sleep. Room was as clean as it could be for what seemed like an older room based on some paint missing and some old smudges on the wall. The toilet roll holder was broken and part of the window blinds but no big deal. The neighborhood to most is probably sketchy but I'm use to it based on where I'm from in LA so wasn't an issue. Check in took longer than expected due to new system of checking in but once sorted out it was good. I liked how close my stay was to everything I had in mind to do, I probably could of Uber/Lyft but I preferred to drive but doable not driving. I was hesitant on booking this place due to not being what I'm used to but I'd book again.
- 5/5
What I like about the property the most are the rooms, and check in and check out is easy
- 5/5
Everything about the property is fantastic. Hoping to stay here again soon.
- 3/5
Ceiling Fan did not work, left a stanley in unit and never got it back after messaging, other than that not bad
- 5/5
Rooms are clean and comfortable to be in
- 5/5
Hotel room was great. Room was renovated and large with full kitchen and bathroom. Hotel is conveniently located near zoo and balboa gardens. But the area around the hotel is not the best - many homeless people and some of them appeared high. Do not recommend walking but great for taking an Uber to the zoo and gardens.
- 4/5
For an unstaffed hotel, this was pretty good.
- 1/5
There’s no front desk to help with anything and the area around has a lot of homeless. At 3am I woke up to a massive fight outside my room that lasted a couple hours and wasn’t able to sleep. Also the shared bathrooms aren’t very clean.
- 1/5
Complete FALSE ADVERTISING. This is not a hotel, it's a HOSTEL. Such an inconvenient area, no parking, not safe, and not advertised as the Balboa Park Hotel in person either. Need a code, that is emailed to you, to get inside the building, no staff at front desk or on the premises. No room keys because there's no staff around to check you in or help you. You're emailed ANOTHER code to get inside your room. Rooms are so tiny and not as pictured in the booking, no air conditioning, walls are paper thin, shared showers and restrooms. As a single woman traveling this was so so unsafe all around and I feel so lied to. I paid a lot of money for this room, and I feel like it should have been advertised transparently. An Expedia agent could not even get ahold of the staff themselves until days later. And even then the hotel denied me a refund. Worst experience and worst trip I've ever had. Definitely not going anywhere NEAR this place ever again and will think twice before I book with Expedia again
- 1/5
Very disappointing. Didn’t sleep well due to noise and inability to block out light. The marketing photos are very misleading.
- 5/5
this stay was super good, me and my partner stayed at this place for our first time in california together, it’s very small and cozy. we slept comfortably and had no issues with service or anything. staff was very helpful, not sure if there is staff on site but we mostly messaged our staff through the hotel itself and they were very quick at responding and very helpful!
- 2/5
Bed was comfy but I got charged $100 for a broken garbage disposal that I never used once
- 4/5
It was ok
- 3/5
I liked that the rooms were simple and functional. Inside was really nice. The neighborhood was a little questionable and there is only on street parking available. Close to the airport
- 5/5
The overall impression is pleasant, the only negative is the lack of a table to eat. It seems that this hotel has different rooms, you should choose a suitable room in advance.
- 4/5
Overall it was a decent
- 5/5
Great stay!
- 5/5
Location was in good walking distance of downtown and little italy also a quick uber ride to these places. The room was clean and tidy, it was easy to get comfortable. I would just be mindful of the room you are getting as it may appear larger in photos but honestly still a cozy for me. Its just being mindful on what to expect. Overall I had a great experience staying and with their service they were very kind to me and my partner and went above and beyond to improve our stay.
- 5/5
The hotel was very cozy and was just a short walk to Little Italy and some nice restaurants 😊
- 2/5
does not state no bathroom in listing

We went to San Diego for our anniversary and this hotel ruined our whole stay. When we arrived at 12:30 the doors were locked and we called the number shown on the paper outside the building to be let in to drop off our bags. We were told we couldn’t go in until we checked in which was 4PM. We were only there for 2 and half days so to be walking around with our bags was a big no. After talking to an Expedia agent we were let in right away and also got our room(around 1:40pm). We were happy that they tried to accommodate us until we saw that the room they gave us didn’t have a bathroom. The communal bathroom in front of room 105 would only get cleaned once a day in the morning. The sink in our room was clogged and the water would rise up. The room was very hot and only had a ceiling fan that barely did anything. The walls are paper thin I could hear the construction being done in the room in front of 105. I couldn’t sleep because there was noise coming from the room next to us and the one upstairs. Our room looked nothing like the pictures , maybe it was the next in line to get remodeling lol whatever it was it ruined our San Diego anniversary trip. I was excited to visit San Diego but after this stay I couldn’t wait to go back home.
- 5/5
Great property really clean
- 4/5
I would have liked to have a chair in my room. The only place to sit was on the bed. I was also surprised that there was no sir conditioning, but luckily the temperature was not bad. The airplanes constantly flying overhead were very loud. Sharing a bathroom was definitely a new experience, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.
- 1/5
Would not stay again. Check in very confusing through emails and the room was supposed to be a family suite, but the second bed is on a mezzanine accesible through an attic folding door and the distance bed to ceiling is no more than 3 FT! In the middle of the night, there was noice, apparently homeless people were breaking in, lots of shouting, SD police was called, what a horrible hotel experience.
- 1/5
Not good customer service
- 5/5
Nice room, completely functional for needs. Clean, well equipped. Recommended.
- 5/5
Could offer a bottle of water to the guests, they are expensive. Thank you
- 3/5
My initial reservation I was given a room without an attached bathroom. Bathroom would be next to it that others could use. Ew! No!. I was then given a room that had a bath, but was shockingly small. About 2 feet around the bed. It was clean and was equipped with dishes for two to include wine glasses. There was no room for a chair. Bed was only seating. It had a nice TV, coffee pot with real coffee cups, sm fridge. No hair dryer that I would have liked. I won’t go there again. The reservation agent was extremely nice and helpful though.
- 5/5
Quick and easy.
- 5/5
This historic building has been updated and is really beautifully decorated. We strongly recommend reading the posting thoroughly as not all rooms have their own bathroom nor showering facilities, but rather, share with other guests. Fellow guests were respectful, the bed was very comfortable, and the check-in/check-out process was easy. The property is not staffed at all times but we did not have any issues with this. Great quick, easy overnight!
- 1/5
Bad experience. Didn’t stay there, left after seeing and smelling the room.
- 1/5
Poor customer service and false advertisement. Dirty room and unsanitary property. Room unsafe for children and unfit for family travel. Inauthentic staff sending cookie cutter template messages despite knowing customer dissatisfaction. Discrepancies between name of property online and in person. Property located in the middle of tweaker central with meth heads walking around and broken car window glass. Read reviews before booking and consider staying at a better hotel.
- 1/5
They gave me a room I didn’t book & the tv was broken
- 1/5
Check in link didn’t work. Room smelled atrocious, no bathroom was not made clear in reservation. Had to book different place it was so bad.
- 3/5
I booked a Deluxe Queen room for my wife and after checking in, found out it had a bunk bed instead of the Queen. Made it work, but wasn’t as romantic of a night as it could have been. Also, the room was hot; I couldn’t sleep with my wife on the bottom bunk, so I slept on top (closer to the fan).
- 1/5
Horrible place. Not a hotel a scam. Bathroom not in the room. Overpriced for what they provide
- 4/5
Our room was small, but very clean and updated. Small functional bathroom, kitchenette with fridge, microwave, and sink. The ceiling fan came very handy for our June stay. Overall, a very good experience for the price.
- 5/5
It was very comfortable and check in was very easy. The room itself was nice and cozy.
- 4/5
I didn’t realize you have to share a bathroom.
- 1/5
The listing is very deceiving compared to the actual stay. In the listing it states there is a bathroom but does not mention it is a shared bathroom, the room did not have its own bathroom. There was loud banging on the main entrance door from a homeless man when we arrived. The entire property smelled bad. No customer service available

Honestly its a great place to stay if your looking for the basics as a solo traveler. Location is convenient, walls are thing bring ear plugs but overall decent 👌

Simple, small, everything we needed. A little noisy. Would stay here again.

The room was great. Just wish one side of the bed wasn't up against the wall. Check in service was good. Check out service was done remotely.

This is a good budget-friendly hotel ONLY if you experience absolutely zero issues with the property your entire stay (unlikely). There is no on-site staff and the phone number provided to you doesn't actually work, so if there is an issue, you will never be able to get ahold of anyone. The first night we stayed here we came back from a night out around 1am and the batteries for the keypad that opened our room door apparently died. We were exhausted, buzzed, and locked out of our room and could not get ahold of anyone for an hour to let us in. The room our entire stay also REAKED of mold or sewage or something and our toilet seat has been melted on the top by what looked to be a curling iron or match. Ridiculous to have over 40 rooms in a "hotel" and not be able to pay someone minimum wage to man the front desk all day. This hotel is not worth the price. I would maybe pay $50 a night to stay here, but almost $200 is insane.

Very comfortable and great vibes

I could not stand the freezing noise air conditioner that ran all night. Also, in the promotions for the hotel, they said there was no one on site, which scared me. But, luckily, there was and she was very helpful.

Terrible

Cute place in a sketchy neighborhood. No frills, but it suited my needs for this trip.
- 3/5
No one is ever around to help. Nothing works and it has a feeling of a hostile at the price of a hotel

Staying in room 109. This room should be used to keep cleaning stuff, not for living

I was disappointed after having read reviews which, in my opinion, were misleading. While I understood that linens would not be changed daily, I expected the claim of “housekeeping provided” meant the bed would be made and the garbage emptied—neither was the case. I was asked (by email) for permission to enter the room to attend to a problem, but no one ever came. When the manager returned at the start of the week, she was extremely helpful and apologetic; she arranged to move us to a different room with usable (not threadbare) linens and less noise. If my review were only of the second room, it would be much higher. The hotel’s website should be updated to reflect what is and what is not available in the surrounding area.

I took pictures but there was gum smooshed on the side of the light fixture when we walked into our room. The bathroom body wash and shampoo was half used. There were bugs smooshed on the side of the wall in between the bed. It just did not look cleaned prior to coming in at all

Good location

Super cute, comfortable, cozy and convenient! Street parking wasn’t a problem, lots of room could probably have fit for guests in there. Check instructions were very clear and super easy! The drive/Uber to gaslamp was about 7 to 8 minutes, and it was super close to a bunch of different restaurants in Little Italy! Will definitely be booking there again!

Bums everywhere …. Rooms had roaches … no parking …. A parking lot is near by its 40 a day !!! It’s no person to check you in or out . It was just not a good experience at all i would not recommend at all

No heater. Services are not good

Easy check in once we have the code. Nice and cozy room with very clean washroom. Parking outside is tricky but spots are easy to find.

I liked the place, if my room had ac I would have been a 5 but the fan worked fine. Anyways pretty good for the price.

Calm

The room is decent and clean, if tiny. Only saw staff once, the walls are paper thin, you can hear everything the other guests are doing or saying, and even the people outside. It has no dedicated parking and the area is riddled with clearly drugged homeless people.

This place is great! It was what we needed to be be close to sites and have cycling access to San Diego at large. Affordable, super clean, and kind people.

Had no table, chair or any place to hang up clothes

There is literally no service. Check in was online, I never spoke to anyone. And upon arrival there was NO staff in the building. I could not contact anyone. The number listed for the hotel was a personal cell that “was not accepting calls” at the time. It sounds ridiculous, but I couldn’t find my room and there was no one I could reach out to ask for help. I went through the building several times and never found it. And again, there was NO staff on site to assist. I ended up giving up on finding the room, leaving and getting a room where I usually stay instead.

Property was amazing and expected.

It was secure. Clean.

Phone contact not possible

The only con(s) for me is that there is no parking lot. Only street parking and most of it, you have to pay for. There are some free spots but they get taken quick or can be a bit of a walk to get to. And the neighborhood doesn't feel the safest. I feel it's good for a night, maybe 2 but not for anything longer and if you're on a budget. It was decent and there was more good than bad. Enough to appreciate

There was a smell in the room and it would not go away with anything. The lady came to check it out but the smell did not go away.

Parking in a nearby lot costs $40 per day. CVS, a Mexican food joint, and a coffee shop are within walking distance. Gaslamp area is also within walking distance.
