Reviews
The hotel is praised for its prime location near the beach and various amenities, as well as its friendly and helpful staff. However, several guests have complained about the condition of the rooms, including issues with cleanliness, old furniture, and thin walls causing noise disturbances. Some guests also expressed dissatisfaction with certain policies, such as early check-in fees and lack of refunds for inconveniences.

I liked that it starts quiet time at 9 and sticks to it

Overall it was a great stay. There is plenty of on street parking if you don't want to pay for overnight parking at the hotel. The only issue is that it's very loud here.
- 5/5
What really made our trip, though, was the incredible service. The staff were incredibly accommodating and went above and beyond by getting us into our room for an early check-in, which we weren't expecting at all but deeply appreciated. We will definitely stay here again in the future. Highly recommend!
- 5/5
I like how close the hotel is to the beach. The room was on the corner next to the street and I could hear all of the street commotion from my room.
- 5/5
Close to grocery stores, beach, restaurants, clubs, Sea World, parks, Belmont Amusement Park and interstates.

The room was clean and worked great for our family. Each staff member working was friendly and helpful. We would stay again!

Parking is assigned with a fixed space, and it costs $10 per night, which is clearly stated and reasonable. Overall, it offers good value for money and is suitable for short stays or family trips.

A lot of money for small rooms and even smaller bathrooms.

Had to request service and fresh towels on the 3rd day of our 4 day stay. Have stayed here many times and will do so again. This is the 1st time I have had any kind of negative comment to make.

The room could be cleaned better , specifically the bathroom . The AC didn’t work during our 4 day stay .

Good mattresses and pillows, nice hot shower, good security, good pool area, cross ventilated room, a block to the oceanfront, helpful staff. Beds are so high they're difficult to get into for a shortish, older person, and the steps down to the bathroom, while marked, are awkward and dangerous, especially for an older person. Unless al the rooms are like this, a little more sensitivity on the part of the manager would be appropriate.

Their online pictures of the property looks great but once you get there it’s a different story. The inside of the hotel once inside looks clean enough but once you start looking around everything is grimy. The carpet in the bedroom floors felt gross there was dust everywhere and there were hairs around the bed. The bed was so uncomfortable our backs hurt every night and the pillows were basically flat as paper. We didn’t get a fitted sheet just a top sheet so every time we woke up the middle of the night we could feel the bed all wrinkled underneath us. The “upgraded room” is not worth paying for the kitchen, because you barely get a fridge and forget about a freezer. Hey, for near 1,000 you get to be woken up every morning at 6 am because of all the alarms. The alarm in the room next to us would go off every morning without it being turned off. And you get to hear all your neighbors because the walls are paper thin! Yay! The only nice thing was it’s so close to the beach and all the shops. We ended up leaving a day early from our anniversary trip beach we were so uncomfortable. The lady at the front desk was nice but, the management was completely unhelpful and yet to respond to any of our complaints. Literally stay anywhere else nearby.

Very spacious room! I appreciated the process for late check-in-- I was very tired and it was so easy!

Great little budget spot in a good location in PB close to the beach. Didn't expect a full apartment but the couch was comfy for lounging and the mini kitchen was nice. Would definitely stay again.

The room was very clean and comfortable. The staff were helpful. The kitchen was very useful. The location was excellent! The only thing wrong was that the hot tub was a green color that made us uncomfortable to use it. The water appeared clean but the green color suggested mold. The pool was beautiful.

Good location. Close to the beach and dining. The room we stayed in was not well maintained. The shower was pretty run down and barely any water flow. The casting to TV did not work as advertised. The recessed lights were not fully inserted into the ceiling. The outlets were broken and loose in the wall. For the price paid, I would expect them to maintain the rooms to a higher standard.

The location is great, right around the block from the beach. The staff overall were helpful, one of the front desk attendants wasn’t very friendly and when I approached her about our broken hair dryer she seemed inconvenienced. For a 5 day stay, we didn’t have anyone come by to bring fresh towels or grab trash. We later learned it was by request only, but for longer stays it really should be automatic. Some of the outlets in the room didn’t work and one of the fans in the room made a loud noise when it was on that disrupted sleep. Overall the best parts were the location and pool access.
- 2/5
The biggest positive is definitely the location—it’s super close to the beach, which made it really convenient for quick walks and enjoying the area. That’s honestly the main reason this place has potential. However, the rest of the experience was disappointing. The photos online are very deceiving and make the property look much nicer than it actually is. In person, the room felt cheap and not very clean—borderline to the point where it was uncomfortable to fully relax. There were also several maintenance issues. The TV only worked about half the time, which was frustrating. The bathroom was another downside—the shower had very low water pressure, and the hot and cold water seemed reversed, making it hard to get a comfortable temperature. It honestly felt like a place where you’d want to wear flip flops in the shower. Overall, if location is your only priority, it might work. But if you’re expecting a clean, comfortable stay that matches the photos, you may want to look at other options.
- 3/5
Proximity to the beach, coffee shops, restaurants and other amenities is great. Hot tub was not working and looked very unclean. The pool didn't look much better. The kitchenette was poorly stocked and the smart TV was not working properly.
- 3/5
Found the room not vacuumed with a hair in the drain, hair in the sink, hair on the sink, dust and dirt all over the place and a pubic hair on the bathroom wall. Not to mention the bodily fluids left on the toilet seat. Thank God I had Clorox wipes. I contacted the staff who said that they couldn’t move us. They had no availability and that the cleaning crew would come tomorrow. My issue is that when we came back to the room the following day it still wasn’t clean. I was told a number of different things like the lady was new and that the hotel desk manager personally handled the matter. I was told that the reason things hadn’t been dusted is because there was stuff on the table. There was trash on the table. They didn’t make up the beds, but they did vacuum. The pubic hair was still on the wall. I showed them pictures of everything and I have pictures of everything.
- 5/5
Great staff, and a fantastic value based on the location.
- 4/5
We love the Beach Haven! So close to shore while being quiet. Definitely stay here every time we are in town.
- 2/5
The Room Issues: • Safety & Noise: Being right on the sidewalk meant we had immediate street noise and people yelling right outside our door all night. • The Lighting: The hotel’s neon sign is bright and flashes like a disco/rave. The blinds provided did absolutely nothing to block it out; we actually had to hang our own blankets over the windows just to get the room dark enough to sleep. • Maintenance: The room needs basic TLC. The carpet felt dirty and outdated, and the bathroom door rubbed the frame so badly it was difficult to open and close—it definitely needs to be shaved down. The Silver Lining: The rest of the amenities weren’t bad. The kitchen was functional and well-equipped, and the shower was stocked with soap and shampoo dispensers. Summary: The staff informed us they had no other rooms to move us to, but frankly, this specific room should not be offered to guests in its current state. It lacks the security and soundproofing of the rooms within the gated portion of the property. If you stay here, ensure your room is actually inside the main hotel area.

Parking was easy, Staff was great
- 1/5
there is no free parking, there is no kitchen
- 2/5
We were assigned room 115 which is literally right off of the street. It is outside of all security gates to the property. The only thing separating us from everyone walking on the sidewalk is the door to our room. Not ideal for a restful night of sleep. Paid $250+ with Hotels.com advance reservation. Not worth it.
- 4/5
Good location and liked that they had a pool. No late check outs even if paying more and the walls are thin. I heard my neighbors all night long either talking or slamming their door. Beds were hard as a board but the room was clean and the air conditioner worked well.
- 5/5
The AC was a bit noisy, but earplugs solve that problem. Great location for the price. The parking is tight, but we managed to get a space each night and there was always street parking available for free
- 5/5
Great location, quiet, and flexible for check in.
- 3/5
Great location. Air conditioning in the queen suite takes a long time to impact the bedroom and the temperature at the thermostat never seemed to accurately reflect what I felt in the bedroom and and as result, it was hard to get a comfortable sleeping temperature. Also, walls are beyond paper thin and on my first night, two guests in the room next to me decided to have a conversation between 3-4am and it almost sounded like they were in the room with me and as a result, I got very little sleep that night.
- 4/5
Nice location for beach access and to find many food options. Our room was nicely updated. However, I'm 5'3" and our beds were waist high so it was a bit of a challenge to get up there. The mattresses are firm. The doors are thin so we heard our neighbors a bit and people outside enjoying the pool. The AC unit worked well and has a constant fan setting to blockout outside noise. This made for better sleep. We were able to add on a full kitchen to our room. They are seperate and behind a door. We shopped at Trader Joe's for our meals. There's no baking pan to bake cookies or pizza though. They did have a fry pan, a pot, cutting board, toaster, and some utensils, coffee pot, microwave and single use plates, bowls, plasticware and a table for 4. The next room was behind a locked door in the kitchen so for bigger families that want 2 rooms and a kitchen, this would be great. This hotel is near other hotels and residences so it's fairly a quiet spot but still close to many easy to find places to eat. They have parking close to your room.

- 3/5
Staff is poorly trained and clearly afraid of doing anything to help guests. No early check in, no more than one pillow per person, lies and excuses to provide help, toilet paper has to be requested at front door and not from room service. This could be a great boutique hotel but behaves like a low value motel assuming that every guest is a bad person.
- 4/5
Husband and I stayed for a 3 day weekend. Hotel was centrally located within walking distance to the beach and restaurants. Overall our room was clean, however one of the queen beds seemed to slump on one side. It didn't really matter so much to us though because we didn't spend much time in our room. Only to sleep and shower really. Overall would stay again if we found ourselves needing a place to stay in that area.
- 5/5
The room was great and just a five minute walk to beach. Great staff!
- 4/5
You really can’t beat the location right behind the beach and walking distance to PB restaurants. This is an older property with a face lift so if you’re searching for luxury or amenities galore, then this may not be the place for you. The staff is accommodating and attentive. Spacious King suite with full size kitchen table in a separate dining room and full kitchenette.
- 5/5
The room was very clean! The staff was helpful and friendly. Great place to stay.

This is my first review I am leaving after having my Orbitz account for 16 years, but I feel compelled to do so. I stayed here this past week and regretted it as soon as I stepped into our room. I actually wanted to see if I could cancel my reservation and leave to a different hotel, but in the end didn’t since it would be too much of a hassle with my 2 toddlers but I was really close. The room felt dirty and musty, the walls were paper thin, we could literally hear what the people next to us were saying word by word. There was a door knob leading to another room that we couldn’t open but I was paranoid the adjoining room would be able too. You can also hear people coming in and out at night very loudly, especially on Saturday. The location was good but I would never stay here again.

The staff was great! property is in a really good location! but the walls are really thin you can hear a lot and if your on the bottom floor you can hear the people walking around! Jacuzzi needs to be scrubbed! would i stay there again urs i would just get a top floor.

The room was clean and updated. Staff was very friendly. Location was great! The sheets could use replacing, however. They were very pilled therefore felt rough on my skin.

Very nice staff and room.
- 3/5
Staff was great! Very helpful when we had an issue with our tv. They will give you beach chairs and beach towels if you’d like as well. The location was great too and parking was only $10/day. Comfortable beds and ok rooms. I think what’s hard to change is the fact that this is clearly an old property that got a “redo” and it’s trying to look more modern but it’s just got cosmetic issues. For the price and the location it’s a really good deal
- 4/5
Hotel was cute. Close to everything which was awesome! Could have been cleaner but not terrible. Would suggest top floor as we could hear those above us like they were in our room. The front desk people were fantastic. Very helpful with everything we asked. Would totally stay again.

We recently stayed at Beach Haven and were disappointed with the overall cleanliness and condition of the room. The shower area in the restroom had visible hairs, which was very unpleasant. The carpet still had sand, and the bed area by the window was very dusty. The AC didn’t turn on, and the ceiling fan was also very dusty. The sheets felt uncomfortable and seemed unwashed or not properly cleaned, which made the stay even less comfortable. Overall, the room felt poorly maintained and in need of serious cleaning and upkeep.
- 5/5
The staff was friendly and accommodating. The price was the room was fair considering the location and access to everything the great area has to offer. Clean, simple rooms, everything you need for a stay in Pacific Beach. Walking distance to surfboard rentals and the beach always has good waves. I will be staying again when I am in the area. Nice pool and hot tub as well.
- 3/5
It was clean but very loud. The room above us das stomping around at 2:30-3 in the morning.

The staff was great, hotel was quiet and cozy
- 4/5
Room was in the back of the building, nice and quiet.
- 4/5
Our room was outside the locked gates of the hotel, right next to the street. We heard a lot of street noise on the weekend. The walls were thin that we could hear the talking and continuous buzz of a cellphone, especially overnight.
- 3/5
Limited parking, walls extremely thin- can hear everything from above and side neighbors. I would say clean and ok for 1 night if no other avail places but if your looking for luxury and amenities this is not the place.
- 5/5
Great location! I arrived late night and they provide me an opportunity to have access to my room, Good communication. Second time staying and I do recommend

This place was great and conveniently located by the beach and right by plenty of restaurants and bars. They do up charge to have access to the kitchen and for daily parking, but the pool and hot tub were excellent and the room was comfortable and nice.

The neon light light up our room like a spot light. The room was by the road. So loud. Was not impressed. This room was also on the outside of the security doors. Would thibk this room should be discounted for its many flaws.

I accidentally booked for the wrong day and they accommodated my date change the same day I was checking in! Parking is $10 which wasn’t mentioned from what I read but overall a nice place. I would stay here again.
- 3/5
Improve the room little run down
- 5/5
Clean room, nice separated kitchen. Comfy beds. Helpful staff. Great hot tub and pool
- 4/5
The only downfall was the electricity was out for a few hours the night of my 25th wedding anniversary & was unable to get dressed up for going out to dinner Furthermore there was no hot water Friday into Saturday and we were checking out on the Saturday - which meant we were unable to have a hot shower prior to our long haul flight home to the UK Outwith these two experiences which were out with the staff at the property’s control, we did enjoy our stay
- 4/5
Peaceful and lots of amenities in the room
- 3/5
Toilet and kitchen sink leaking water
- 5/5
We were pleasantly surprised at our good fortune to find this place which was only 2 blocks from the beach at a fantastic rate. Very clean too.
- 4/5
The hotel is a great location, I went with 2 friends for the weekend and we walked everywhere. Plenty of coffee shops, restaurants and bars within walking distance. It is a good value for what you pay, it’s obviously not top of the line. But it’s clean and safe. The mattress is comfortable but the pillows are a rough, maybe consider bringing your own
- 5/5
Spacious room and great amenities
- 5/5
I have stayed here before and love it...I enjoy the little kitchenette...and the decor. Its clean and super close to the beach. Staff is friendly and I enjoyed my stay. Walls are a bit thin. But older places are like that. The pool is clean and warm, and the hot tub is nice for an evening soak.
- 5/5
Great location, kitchen facilities, spacious rooms, heated pool and spa. Modern and boutique style. Parking available at a small fee and everything in walking distance. Close to beach/surf
- 4/5
Great location. Clean, quiet, beach motel. Only negative. Beds and pilles are old and worn. Could use an upgrade from the old box spring mattresses
- 4/5
Clean and comfortable
- 4/5
Very close to the beach, great location!
- 4/5
I loved that it was close to restaurants and the ocean! The room was clean. It was inconvenient that we did not have a coffee pot. We were on the second floor and I had to go down to get coffee and then try and unlock the gate to get back ito the room areas, go up stairs and unlock my room door while carrying 2 cups of coffee
- 3/5
Easy check in, parking was available but a little tricky, lucky we have a small car. Bathroom could have been cleaner. Walls are paper thin and the air conditioner sounds like a train every time it kicks in, which was very often. Nice location, felt safe.
- 5/5
This property is a steal and everything is within walking distance. The only problem is the parking is very limited. You are a block from the beach and the bike path. There are multi bike rental spot if you want to get a bike to ride.

- 5/5
Good and quick stay
- 4/5
Enjoyed the set up here, clean, with small kitchen, so close to beach. Kitchen isn't stocked so bring your own and you will be set.
- 1/5
Our bed sheets had obviously been used as there was hair and dirt smudges on them (we told the front desk and they were changed). The place itself was not clean… obvious toothpaste splatter, mold in bathroom. At 9:30 pm, the battery in the smoke detector in a room near ours began beeping every minute or so. We had to turn on white noise and use ear plugs to sleep. Also, the water pressure was a wimpy trickle. Hardly enough to take a shower.
- 5/5
Everyone was very nice and the room was clean and I felt safe as a solo traveler.
- 5/5
Great location. Easy beach access and dining options.
- 1/5
Hidden fees, NO COFFEE , PAY TO PARK
- 4/5
Beach Haven, aesthetics matched the name and location. Quaint beach cottages surrounding the pool in a key gated area. With a kitchenette, that had disposable eating utensils, plates and cups, a plus in cleanliness and convenience. Con: limited parking, small car sized spots and a parking fee.
- 2/5
Every single time I went to the front desk, I had to wait several minutes to an hour for someone to show up. With customers paying $300/night for a motel experience, I feel like the bare minimum would be to have someone manning the desk. If that requires hiring an additional employee so they can take an extended lunch break, then fine. The rooms need basic maintenance. Rusted door knobs and faucets, peeling paint, A/C needed a new filter, and chipped particle board furniture. Take some pride in a hotel with an incredible location. There was used soap and wrappers in our bathroom. The toiletries, towels, and blankets were laughable quality. Despite the location saving this property, fourth times the charm, i will not be coming back
- 1/5
Details: - Arrived at the hotel at approximately 2:30pm, at which time there was a sign on the door saying the staff were out to lunch. - After doing a bit of shopping, dragging along my roll-abord bag, I returned at about 3:20, but there was another sign saying that the staff were assisting other customers. - The front desk employee appeared at 3:30, saying that the room was not ready (check-in was 4pm, so that was ok). She said they would try to get it ready by then but could not guarantee it (as if there were no contractual obligation to have the room ready on time). - I checked my bags and asked to use the restroom to change, but she did not allow me to do so. - The front desk employee said she'd call when the room was ready, but she did not call as of 4:15pm, so I returned to check on things myself. - After telling the front desk employee that I wanted to be credited some amount for the room being ready late, she told me there was no reason to be so difficult (perhaps we should refer to the Beach Haven area as the "gaslight district"). - The front desk employee asked me to leave her office while she contacted a manger. - The rude manager ultimately allowed me to stay there (siding with the front desk employee in our discussion), but it was a very difficult encounter.
- 3/5
We have stayed here before, and it works. Proximity to the beach is ideal, and price is so-so. The (new) thing which really irked us and other visitors to whom we spoke is the new high dollar PER DAY charge to park a car. Really? The fee itself is annoying, but even more so is the fact it was charged at the door - not online. The reason we have historically used hotels.com is that we know what we are getting and how much it will cost - before we arrive. This is our second hotels.com experience where we have incurred suprise charges upon our arrival. Think our days of using this site may be coming to an end. The vendor should add the cost (all costs!) into the online price they list. I would argue they, and hotels, com are both guilty here.
- 5/5
The property was very clean and in a great location. You can hear all of your neighbors conversations in the adjacent and above rooms, so it isn't that quiet. We would have loved an early check in but it wasn't made available. Overall a great place to stay with a lot of room.

My hotel choices were limited with last minute decision to go in midjuly. I loved the location of this hotel so close to the beach and restaurants. We rarely had to drive. The facility itself is small with little amenities. 1 vending machine and an icemaker. Pool is nice. The room needs a refresh. Nice decor but I couldn't tell if rug was either wornout or in need of deep clean. Bathroom is very small with little counter space. However the area was quiet during our 2 weeknight stay and we had no issues with paid parking.

This year, it felt like we signed a lot of rules about parties and consideration (we had the previous year so not a surprise or a problem), but never slept in silence to the end of the "quiet hours". Many of the other guests were families (we were too), but did not seem to care about their kids making noises at 6am or gathering their groups outside our door at 8am. Also in the year between they started charging $20 a night for parking, which we decided against, meaning we spent time looking for free street parking, which was plentiful but also took effort. Overall the stay still mainly met our needs but we will look elsewhere if we return to the area. On a more minor note, this place is geared for longer stays (kitchenettes in many rooms), but does not have a great trash option (two tiny kitchen trash bags that rip easily).

We arrived really early and the staff was willing to hold our bags and then called us when our room was ready. It was so close to Pacific beach and many restaurants. We enjoyed our stay there very much!

I don’t recommend this hotel. The rooms are very old and the tub drain stopper was broken. The staff was always away (out of office signs).

Hotel was great!

Great staff, nice remodel! We would definitely stay again.
- 3/5
Room was ok clean but had issues, I believe the building in general has issues. Felt like the floor was gonna cave in, spotted around the room. Bathroom was clean and newly remodeled, room was Backed against the ally and when you open the bathroom window to get some air you see right into the apartment across the ally’s bedroom and people sleeping! Little things that they could fix like better bathroom fans! Bottom sheet on mattress had stains on them. Taking time to fully clean and dust all corners and this hotel would a clean standard hotel but it’s just ok and needs improvements.

I had to wait outside the door for 30 minutes to check in. They have a lunch schedule from 7:00 to 7:30. I arrived at 6:20.

Amazing staff with great service and super quiet relaxing family environment.

This was our second time staying at beach haven. The first was in 2022 and the second now in 2025. The hotel is in a great location, but the hotel itself needs some TLC. The bathroom in our room had some rust and the water pressure was very low. Our neighbors one night were also very loud which made it hard to sleep. The walls are thin so, something to keep in mind.

This was closer to the beach than I thought. Amazing location & plenty of parking. At night it’s pretty quiet but in the mornings it gets a little noisy which was fine, but for people that are sensitive to noise keep that in mind. The room was clean just wear & tear. With the location itself, it was completely worth it. Staff was nice and checkin was easy. Overall I’d give it an 8/10.
- 1/5
What I didn’t like is the fact I booked the room at the wrong location and spoke with the front desk lady and she wouldn’t accommodate me and cancel the room with no charge and let me rebook correct room so I was forced to stay here .
- 4/5
Quiet and quaint property. Well laid out and feels very safe and secure with locked gates and cameras. Pool and hot tub were quiet and plenty of towels available. BBQ in pool area with table is a great feature. Clean rooms, locked door to option for kitchenette is handy. Beds and pillows are very hard. We prefer plush rather than firm.

Will never come here again.
- 4/5
Love this property . Great location , hot tub, parking . The only issue is we had room 115 . The entry is outside of the locked facilities , our door on outside . The noise from street and sidewalk is awful on Fri / Sat nights in this specific room. I have stated before in another room and no issues . Request not to have 115 if u have a kitchen .

Property itself was clean, lady at front desk was rude.

So good. Nice
- 3/5
Close to restaurants shopping and the beach
- 1/5
On top of that there's no parking, granted it was spring break weekend but I shouldn't have to walk .25 miles to find a parking place for a stay that costs $350 on up for 1 night.
- 3/5
Good location and room. The only negative thing is they added a fee for kids over 12 staying in the family room. That should be disclosed or added to the total.
- 4/5
Overall, this was a good place for my family and I to stay. No one came to service the room during the 4-day stay, which was really the only “down” side. Staff was friendly and kids loved the pool area. Close to the beach!
- 5/5
I have stayed here a few times first time for a spring break with kids and other moms.. we got the rooms with the kitchens it was super convenient with the pool and the grill at the pool came is useful .. close to garnet with lots of restaurants and bars short walk to the ocean overall great place with great prices . Girls at the front desk are always helpful and nice..
- 4/5
The location is very close to the beach and restaurants, which makes it a great spot. The price is reasonable, considering its proximity to Pacific Beach. Our motel room was quiet and clean, though basic, no coffee pot in the room but coffee available at the front desk starting at 8 am. However, the rooms could use renovation. On the positive side, the beds were comfortable, and the large 75-inch TV was a big plus. Parking was available but not enough for all guests.
- 5/5
Staff is super friendly, rooms are nice, bed comfy. The weather was too cold to use the pool this time, but we've stayed here before and the pool is great. It's a 2 minute walk to the beach, plenty of dining places all around, and close to a grocery store. Love Beach Haven!
- 4/5
Negatives: Remember this is a 2 Star hotel!!!!! I read quite a few reviews and mostly they forgot this is not a 4 or 5 star hotel. The walls are thin, bring ear plugs. Carpet is OLD, bring flip flops or socks. The rules, I just feel this place might have gotten burned by younger 21 year old kids wanting a place to party. When we were there it was families. The only thing that stinks is they do take a $250 deposit and it will be returned but it takes up to 7 days to get back into your account! Just remember you saved money on parking fees. There is no shuttle but again you can walk to most places. Would I stay here again? Possibly, my son liked the pool and hot tub. It all depends on pricing and location. This actually had both! Just walk in know it is a 2 star hotel and your expectations will be spot on.
- 3/5
I liked how it was very close to the beach, however, parking needs improvement as we had to park offsite when the lot got full, and the floors, especially the carpet in the room, felt very dirty.
- 3/5
Three negatives; no elevator, poor efficiency heater and not enough quality kitchen utensils.
- 4/5
Beach Haven was a good place to stay. The pool and hot tub were great and the staff treated us very well. The location is excellent, with quick access to pacific beach and the ocean front walkway. There are some good restaurants around and lots of places to get ice cream. Some of the items such as soap etc were pretty low quality and the towels were a bit tired, but overall this places is quite good. The pool really makes it.
- 5/5
Great place to stay. I love that there is a kitchen in room if I choose not to eat out.
- 5/5
Me and a friend stayed in a double queen bedroom and only stayed 1 night. Check-in was smooth and simple. Beds were comfy and the ceiling fans kept the room cool all night. The bathroom is nice as well, a decent size with updated features. Would recommend for a short vacation.

Beach haven is a great choice to stay in Pacific beach for a fraction of the cost at other places. The ladies at the front were pleasant and assisted us to meet our needs. P.S. the parking and lawn chair rental makes it even more worth it!

I do not recommend staying at the hotel.

I've stayed at 5-6 properties in PB. While there was nothing "terrible" about it, it wasn't great either. The property is very much a motel in every sense-- obviously the building structure is a motel, but also aspects such as limited front desk hours, written "rules" to curb unruly guests (which lowers ones expectations), limited privacy (external entry) and razor thin (!!) walls. In the bathroom, I found myself trying to be quiet getting ready b/c I could hear everything on the other side of the wall! There are so many better options in PB

So, I have a mixed review on this hotel. First the good stuff, the location is amazing, close to beach, restaurants, shops, free parking on site, we ha had rented the suite, which was great to have a kitchen. Now for the things that soured the stay, the walls are paper thin, and weekdays were not horrible, had some kids thumping and running around that could be bothersome, but it was tolerable, but Friday night, there was the drunken, loud sex acts going on, and you could hear everything. We woke up Saturday to a large puddle of urine outside our door, and this is a gated hotel, so guests did that. But all that aside, the worst part was the smell of our bed, it was so bad, we smelled like it for 2 days after leaving. It was a horrible BO smell, and no matter how much we showered, it was there. They need new mattresses, pillows and linen, and keep on top of cleaning them. There are others that have complained of this problem, clearly nothing has been done about it. Nothing like staying in a hotel and coming out smelling like you sleep in a garbage bin.
- 4/5
Good spot at a very convenient location. Rooms are large. Service is good. Will definitely come back!
- 5/5
Great beach hotel. At the end of the pacific beach bars, but only by a block. You get the easy access to the beach and bars without being in the middle of it. Staff is friendly and helpful! Pool and hot tub are a bonus!
- 5/5
Great place. Conveniently located to the Pacific beach and also great access to a ton of restaurants and bars. Also thoroughly enjoyed the pool and the hot tub. Definitely recommend this place in you want to stay in Pacific beach.

Manager was great, 1 block from beach and near restaurants

The office manager was super helpful. The place is a great location. Having the hot tub was a great bonus. Will book here again.

This is a trifle, but my grandson lost a dollar in the coke machine the night we checked in. Front desk said she would call the company and to come back the next day. The next day the front desk said the company hadn't been there yet and to come back later. This was when we were checking out. We did go to the beach for a few hours and went back and asked for his dollar again. Nobody there. I know it was only a dollar, right. Right. Don't you think the front desk could give him a dollar and then get refunded from the company. They asked us to come back! Really!
- 4/5
I would totally recommend this for a quieter stay in PB. Staff is extremely friendly and accommodating -- even helped us out with late check-in. Property is comparable to others in the area, but was more affordable. Only tiny complaint was the water pressure was a tiny trickle. Would definitely consider this one again.
- 5/5
We enjoyed our 4 night stay at the property. It was a few steps from the beach and only 10 or 20 minutes from all of the San Diego attractions. Plenty of food options and bars within a short walking distance. The only negative was that the bed was lnot comfortable, but it can work for a few days.
- 3/5
Loud A/C unit, thin walls, no microwave available unless guest was willing to pay extra, scratchy sheets. Overall mediocre at best.

My family stay in pacific beach alot . This was my first time at Beach haven and i loved it . It was a great room ,i stayed in the one bedroom and it was perfect . I will definitely be staying there more often .

We had to sign a long list of weirdly specific but common sense rules just to get our keys - and one of them was quiet hours from 9pm to 9am. Yet our location meant that anyone who was staying in the hotel (which included a couple families with children) tumbled down our alley, shouting in front of our room and banging the alley door to their car from about 7am until we gave up and left at 9. The mattress was old and saggy, but aside from the elevated price, noise and alley factor, the motel was fine. Not a - haven - by any stretch, but otherwise fine. A wretched experience. We stay overnight on weekdays quite frequently in SD, and we usually choose the nearby small network of motels owned by PB Surf, which are cheaper and similar in quality. We thought we'd try somewhere new - what a mistake.
