Close to the beach and proximity. The only thing was that our room was just cleaned the there was a wierd smell on bathroom. I was offered a room change yet the smell came from chemicals they used to clean and was gone in a couple hours .

I booked this hotel over the nearby others because of the free parking. I wish I would have just splurged. We stayed for 5 nights. The AC was SO loud and annoying, my feet were filthy from the floors, the street noise was loud, there was also street construction 2 of the days, not the hotels fault, I wish there had been more storage inside, bathroom was small. It was close to the beach and parking was free, but we really didn't enjoy the stay all that much. We really considered eating some of the money and moving hotels for a few of the nights.

The main thing to like is the closest proximity to the ocean, 5 minute walk. Staff were polite and helpful as well.

The location was very convenient—close to the ocean and within walking distance of plenty of dining options. However, the hotel itself was just okay. The rooms felt a bit dirty, and overall the property didn’t seem as polished as the website photos suggested.

Location to beach, boardwalk and PB Toilet needs to be reseated, it rocks when you sit on it, sink faucet was loose, refrigerator door would get stuck when open due to improper leveling. Would have preferred more patio privacy.

We ended up getting a refund because the room smelled so strongly of Fabuloso. The front desk attendant was very gracious in accommodating us but it was such a bummer for my wife and me. Location is great, all things considered.

The location was great! There were some maintenance issues that need taken care of. The bathroom had a strange oder, just in the bathroom. Could have used a deep clean, not real bad but needed a more thorough cleaning. I might check out other places next time to compare.

We love staying at Pacific Shores Inn! We have for years and the only place we will continue to stay at. The customer service and staff AMAZING. Location is perfect. Very clean and friendly. Will be back SOON!

Bathroom needs to be better maintained. No blow.dryer. microwave was not working well. There were no extra blankets in the room or a screen door on the slider window.

Great location for places to walk to, such as the beach, restaurants, bars, coffee places, etc. The only complaint I really have is that the air conditioner was exceptionally noisy. Otherwise, great experience for a budget friendly location only one block from the beach!

Location was amazing! Very walkable with partial ocean view. Our room itself was a little rundown, dirty and old. Carpets left our feet gross, water pressure is low and the tv remote/tv were very slow or not working. We got the basic room, maybe the other ones are better?

View was advertised as partial and it was actually a little more than what I expected. Our room had a lovely patio with table and chairs on which we relaxed while listening to the surf.

Everything was great! Clean, specious room. Fridge, coffee maker, TV all you need for your stay. And it’s so close to the beach! Perfect place to stay on budget.

My only advice is to make sure you read the room descriptions and choose the appropriate room. We didn't and incorrectly assumed that all rooms had an outdoor seating area. Ours did not. It wasn't the Inn's mistake; it was ours.

Location to the beach from this property is excellent. The beach is so beautiful and walking distance from the hotel room is within reach very close. The room smell stuffy and windows were not open. I had to keep the door open for a while. The AC vent has no AC just fan. Hair Dryer was not working. No bodywash just shampoo. Average motel quality room.

Room was spacious and clean and parking was very convenient being right outside the door. The bathroom was small but functional, missing shower gel and stopper in the sink. We appreciated the table and chairs on the front patio area. You can’t beat the location just a few feet from the beach but it was far enough away from all the activity to be very quiet at night. Would recommend for a short stay.

Nice hotel with reasonable rates right off the boardwalk in north Pacific Beach. My only notable issues were that I was not told that housekeeping was on an "as-requested" basis. Fine by me, but that should have been mentioned during check-in. But what irked me more was that I requested a late check out, and was told by one person at the front desk that I would be given until noon before any additional charges applied (normal check-put is 11:00 a.m.). Mind you, I started the whole conversation by introducing myself with my full name and room number. Based on that, I then planned to depart no later than noon on my checkout day. At 11:30, while I was waiting for my ride to pick me up, I stopped by the front desk to let them know that I was still in the room, but planning on leaving within the next 30 minutes (again, introducing myself with my full name and room number). The front desk person working had no note of my "approved" noon checkout time or previous conversation. They made it sound like the late fee clock starts right at 11:31 a.m. and they were doing me a big favor by letting me stay until noon (I actually ended up leaving before that, which I was happy to do, since I no longer felt welcome). Other than those two minor issues, I would recommend that property, as along as you know what to expect. Anything that close to water shows wear and tear much more quickly than an inland property. For their prices, you have to cut them some slack on that front.

We were checked into our room and I walked in on a young girl in her underwear.

The location was great, the room was large size and had all the amenities needed - in particular the new bathrooms were fantastic. The only downside was that the Wifi did not work, which could have been due to my room location (11) being towards the pool end with limited connection? I had enough mobile data so it wasn't an issue. Overall I would stay there again.

This is a hidden gem. Was skeptical at first due to it being an Inn but was so pleased. Comfy, safe, walk to the most beautiful sunset I’ve ever seen. Definitely coming back

My experience here was positive. Location is great, right by the beach, and the room was very clean. The property is older, and the shower door needed a little repair. I had read reviews mentioning roaches, but I hadn't seen any. I would stay at the hotel again.

The rooms had no blinds and the bed was hard& the tv was small. However the bathroom was nice, the air and heater worked, there was a fridge, very close to the beach, and free self parking which is awesome!

House phone didnt work, A/C wouldn't come on, moldy tiles in shower, and neither of the 2 electric stove burners worked. We brought our own special foods to cook, all for nothing. Had to throw away so much food because of this.

Staff was attentive - giving extra pillows and towels when requested. Parking was very convenient. This was a great facility to stay at for accommodating pets. A few quirks about the room - squeaky bathroom door and sometimes temperamental heating unit.

The room was pretty run down, the AC controller was coming off the wall, the bathroom door didn’t lock and was confusing.

Don’t like to complain but it was not the kind of place I would ever recommend or stay in the future.

Most of the staff was great. Had one front desk guy that was SO rude. Our toilet wasn’t working almost all weekend. Their maintenance guy kept coming to ‘fix it’ but it never actually fixed it. It ended up overflowing and flooding the bathroom and the front desk guy was so rude to us and didn’t care. Everything else was okay, not great by any means. And honestly not having a working toilet for 4 days and then offering no solution was wayyy less than ideal.

The inn was quaint and in the perfect location, just across the parking lot is the beach. And walking distance lots of restaurants. However the bathroom needs a couple of fixes - replace toilet seat & clean the rusty pipe smell coming up from shower & sink drains. It didn't really impact my stay but I can see it being a problem for someone else more particulate than me. The inn is nothing fancy but overall the room was decent and fairly comfortable. I would stay again

Which is why I chose this place. So that didn’t disappoint. There are allot of restaurants walking distance which was convenient along with having Ray’s beach rentals close by to rent beach equipment. The room is small very basic. Coffee and fridge are in a closet which was fine just a little odd. Shores Inn is a decent place to stay. If you want to keep it simple & you don’t mind not having the extra amenities. Such as free breakfast, hot tub etc. it’s cute inside. Outside of the facility is nothing to brag about. I was trying to keep it simple and have access to the beach & that is what I got. Also I did not want to pay for parking so that was nice to not have to add that expense to our trip. Does have a pool, we didn’t use but it looked decent. So overall a good experience just very basic. It depends on what you’re looking for. I was looking at the access to the beach and that is what I got.

Hotel was just fine. Location is great, right next to the beach walking path. Lots of restaurants & bars within walking distance. The bed was comfortable, clean room. Has some issues with the shower, water was going down slow & noticed water leaking into the closet. Besides the restroom issues this hotel is great. Lots of parking and heated pool.

Cons: dirty carpet, no water in room for coffee machine, property maintenance, roaches, lock broken causing unsafe room. Had to change rooms 3 times.

The room was in great condition when we checked in. Check in time was accurate, even in the middle of the week they were very well staffed. Pacific beach was less than a 5 minute walk from my room. The parking structure was nice as well as we were able to park right outside of our door. I brought my service dog and she was treated with the utmost respect and friendliness. We stayed in a ground level room. Parking was easy, finding the place was easy. Tons of stores and restaurants within walking distance. Area was clean and safe as well.

We had a last minute change of plans and found this week little place. Such a great location and price! We will be coming back soon!

I liked this hotel! Near local bars, able to walk to the beach, found walkable breakfast location as well! Only reason why I gave 3 stars for property condition was due to the base boards and closet space.. you can tell they needed to be fixed and wasent in the best condition but might be due to guest tracking in water and sand. Overall would stay again!

Great location. We had a window veiw to the ocean from the 2nd floor room but the window was dirty with bird poop.The room could use a luggage rack or two so you don't have to put luggage on the floor.

Absolutely the cutest, one block away from the ocean, and best place to watch the sunset hotel! I’ve stayed here close to 10 times and it never disappoints.

The last night of my stay there was a large cockroach in the room. When I told the front desk in the morning. They said those were the drain bugs and maintenance could come close

While several other persons in our party had nice rooms at the PSI, ours was not. When I called to tell the front desk our room smelt like dog pee… I was informed by Marlene that the hotel is two stars. However…. Two stars or not the room should be clean. You could see through the door jam to the outside door, the bathroom door did not close and either mice or rats were pushing insulation out from under the sink. If your feet touched the carpet you had to wash them off due to the feeling on walking on carpet that had been urinated on. There was also some sort of shampoo bottle shoved down the drain that caused the sink to not be able to drain. Additionally the fridge did not work and there was never anyone around to get towels etc. as previously stated no one was willing to change us to a room with carpet that not been urinated on. When I emailed the contact stated on the website I was not responded to either. It would be a gamble to book a room here and there are several other nicer well kept motels even at 2 stars that are cleaned and maintained.

I have been coming to Pacific Shores for several years. This is the first time the rating has been a 3. The pool was closed the entire time I was there. They were fixing someting that required a jack hammer that was used ALL day. This did not allow for relaxing in the room. I was unable to sign on to wi fi and attempted to trouble shoot by calling the number provided. After a 10 minute wait I was disconnected and the issue was not resolved. The microwave did not work well and the conditioner bottle was empty in the shower. I have not booked for next year.

The property presents a straightforward, albeit problematic, situation. A significant concern is the presence of mold, evident on the ceiling and within the bathroom. Evidence suggests attempts to conceal the mold through painting in the bathroom. A request for an alternative room resulted in a similar issue, as the assigned room was adjacent to the initial space. The severity of the mold was such that its odor was pervasive when ventilation was limited. While the furnishings were of good quality, and renovations appeared to have been undertaken, inadequate ventilation and circulation appear to be exacerbating the mold issue. Despite the favorable location and staff, a return visit is not recommended due to the mold problem.

It was very close to Pacific ocean. Enjoyed the coffee offered in the morning, then went to the Breakfast Republic for brunch. We spent time sitting on the beach enjoying the warm breeze, took walks along the boardwalk. Can be a nice get away for the price!

Amazing location to the beach. It is steps to the water. Friendly staff. Noticeably an older property, however it is obvious they have been upgrading. Work was being done while I stayed and it was not an inconvenience. Also a bus stop right out front made it easy to travel around without a car. The transit system was very easy to use. I plan to use this property again!

When i arrived, i thought i was in a low income apartment building. Building needs exterior paint, stairs to second floor need paint an cleaning. The upstairs walkway needs new flooring. One of the two bed mattresses was stained. The room walls need cleaning and a good wipe down. The doors are dirty, need to wipe down. The sofa chair was dirty and stained. The carpet was dirty. The room smelled like dog urine. Very disappointing.

Very convenient location to all dining options. Everything was walkable distance. You walk 2 minutes out of the hotel and you’re at the beach! The area was beautiful. The hotel was cozy and clean. I asked for extra pillows because the ones they had were extremely flat and I can’t sleep like that, but they brought them over right away. I can’t wait to come back!

I loved the location and how convenient it was for us to do things around the hotel! I’ve stayed here before and loved it, but this time I was a little disappointed because when we first checked in, the bathroom smelt like mildew and the towels were stinky and wet. They smelt like they weren’t clean and weren’t dried completely. The staff was very friendly and nice, the only complaint was the cleanliness.

We stayed one night for a show in the area. It was a very spacious room with high ceilings, which added to the spacious feel. Everything was very clean and in good condition. The only thing was the blankets and sheets kind of felt like paper and one of the beds was a little wobbly when we sat on it, but didn’t affect our sleep. Would definitely stay again.

Parking was hard to get in n out of after driving around looking for it. Room did not look like website. Power went out for four hours at night could not see anything. Asked for a late check out went to get coffee and room was stripped no bedding etc. A lot of people wandering around looking in cars.

Second time staying at the Shores. First time I got a room by the pool. This time I got room 53, right across from the front desk and overlooking the main drag. Very noisy. Next time I will make it a point to request a room further from the street. Otherwise nice rooms and great location for my needs. Will probably keep coming back if the rates stay affordable… 😊

The room is spacious and it has everything you need. Bed is comfortable. Just didn’t enjoy the general property condition. It could use some updates and maintenance.

Closeness to beach

A smaller property, with beach within walking distance, the property shows it's age and it looks like it was quickly renovated with some touch up paint. The water pressure wasn't ideal in the bathroom. It was fine for what we needed for the weekend but there could be improvements. The air conditioning sounded like it wanted to give up

Love this place…

I’ve stayed here before. My issue is the pillows are razor thin and the weight of the blankets are non existent. I had to turn the heat off and on all night. Could barely sleep.

Other than that the beds were clean and comfy. Location is convenient to the beach and shopping area.

The place looked like it had been renovated. I was pleased how clean it was.

The room appeared to be clean but it had an odd smell and when we woke up we noticed bugs in the bed. We were told they were possibly termites becuz of the dampness and that they couldn’t give us a refund or discount becuz the charge already went thru. There was no where to hang clothes becuz the closet was made into a place for the coffee maker. At first sight, it was a cute boutique hotel but we probably wouldn’t stay there again.

Fantastic location near the beach and all the bars and restaurants walking distance ! Lovely service at the front desk!

We were also told to bring it back at check out. We never had a full set of towels. Full size towels and a few hand towels when we checked in and when our room was cleaned, we got full sized towels and a washcloth but no hand towels. Not a big deal but another trip to the front desk to get towels. The walls/doors are very thin so we could hear people outside which is undesirable as I am a very light sleeper. We brought our dog with us and while there was grass around the corner behind one of the buildings there isn't a great area for them to go potty. Our dog is used to the desert so she was fine using the sand and bark by the plants in the parking lot but most dogs prefer grass. It did have a heated pool but we didn't use it.

The staff is quick to correct any problems or answer any question. Lol be that the beach is within walking distance and there are many places to eat close by.

I always stay at Pacific Shores when I come to PB. I love the deluxe queen rooms. They are spacious and clean. They are situated where you can see the ocean from the window. There’s great accommodations to make it easy to bring your food and cater to your family. The location is great, with close access to the beach. Staff is always courteous and friendly. My favorite place to stay!

Clean bed and linens. Furniture was dingy and could use a cleaning. Damp sulphur like smell from bathroom. Would stay again but preferably on second floor.

It is an older facility on the outside but the inside was very clean. The location is perfect for all that you will need...close to the beach, dining, bars etc.

Nice spacious rooms that close to the beach and local bars and eateries. Friendly reception. Don’t let the outside fool you, the rooms are spacious and nice. The only problem we had was that the view was a neighborhood and there was a weird smell coming from the restroom but it wasn’t enough to ruin our stay.

Excellent place to stay that is steps away from Pacific Beach. Provides free parking on the hotel premises that is close to your room.

The doorways were rusted and the wood was rotten. In the main door and bathroom. Knats were in the room big and small.

Location, the lady at the front desk was very nice.

On arrival a bit confusing- no one at desk area gave a number to call but mailbox full then had to go down a block to another hotel for service for my hotel. Room clean and cute with big bay window. Walk-in closet that had mini fridge. Microwave, and coffee maker. Pet friendly. My only complaint but may be preference the beds were to soft and it was hard to get rest since I am a side sleeper and felt as I got no back support had to use a tucked pillow. Less than a block away from the beach. Overall quite except I could hear the people upstairs walking and moving items frustrating when you are trying to sleep. But overall it was a pleasant family vacation. Both receptionist were pleasant and welcoming.

Amazing location.. 50 steps to the beach. Everything you need is within walking distance. My only complaint was the limited parking.

Very close to the beach and th3 rooms were nice and clean.

Our room was excellent, you can tell there was recent paint and upkeep. The pool while a bit dated was a favorite for us. We walked everywhere! So close to the beach and many shops and restaurants. Great place for the price!

As my son said, it’s a lot nicer on the inside than the outside. We chose this hotel for proximity to the beach. Outside of hotel needs so paint and maintenance but rooms were decent. We could definitely smell the bleach when we walked in so we felt it was clean. Bathroom door needed to be replaced and we could see under the door from our beds

Rooms are sort of smaller and dated. If you’re looking or expecting nicer. Look somewhere else. But it is as very close to the beach with restrooms and restaurants. Parking is a plus and room has Ac. Would definitely stay again next time.
