Reviews
The hotel is generally well-liked for its cleanliness, friendly and helpful staff, and convenient location. However, some guests have complained about noise, small rooms, and parking issues.

Room was extremely small. Nothing was working properly

Well located, easy parking.
- 4/5
Pleasant stay overall. Was only there for one night as I was in town for a conference at the convention center. Price was reasonable, considering that most hotels closer to the convention center were way overpriced. The hotel definitely needs some upgrades, including some noise cancelling carpeting. The restroom was rather small, but it had everything I needed. $20 a night parking fee seemed a bit much, considering that the parking lot was tiny. For what I needed (a bed), the hotel served its purpose.

Carlos at check in was AMAZING!

The staff was friendly and the breakfast was amazing, the facility was clean and that balcony takes you're breath away

The scene was cute There was a cockroach in the bathroom, the ice machine didn’t work, the wifi was down. You had to pay to park.
- 5/5
Nice breakfast and comfortable rooms
- 5/5
The plantings around the parking lot made the property very appealing. Loved that we could sit outside our 1st floor room behind bamboo plants. The woman at the front desk was very friendly and helpful about places we wanted to go. Everyone on the staff we had contact with also friendly. The hotel is well located- you can walk to two team stops. One - the city college stop also has an express bus to Balboa Park.

Rooms were dated. No microwave. Small room and bathroom than it appears in advertised photos. No elevator if on level 2. No ventilation or curtains. Only window blinds.
- 3/5
Staff very helpful. Gace us a king bed instead of the two double beds at request. Breakfast though limited in options was freshly made with excellent taste. Gave complimentary water daily. Overall clean room. Close to major attractions and freeway- so overall work d out for the trip. Rooms were dated. No microwave. Small room and bathroom than it appears in advertised photos. No elevator if on level 2. No ventilation or curtains. Only window blinds.
- 4/5
The room with the king bed and the walk-in shower had only one problem. The shower water never got hot even after running for 5 minutes, however the sink was working fine, had to clean myself with a wash cloth at the sink

The breakfast is delicious, and all the staff members are incredibly kind and welcoming. The hotel is quiet, very clean, and in an excellent location, making it easy to get around and enjoy the area. I highly recommend staying here and would definitely come back. Everything was very good.
- 4.5/5
Property was centrally located. The Rooftop was a great spot to relax and take a break. Lastly, I was pleasantly surprised by the variety at breakfast.

Room was clean but bit outdated. The area was not the best but staff was great and they provided a good hot buffet breakfast. Make note that this is a motel and there are no elevators to 2nd floor.

Great location, great staff Rooms are not noise proof, could hear footsteps through the ceiling all day long and thin walls as well

I was there for a business meeting the next morning. Did not get any sleep or rest. I called the front desk and asked for the people upstairs to be quiet. Next, after 15 minutes of more noise, I got up in my pajamas and went to the front desk. I asked to move to a different room. They had no double bed available. I asked for the hotel attendant to visit the upstairs room to ask them to please be quiet. He did but it didn’t help. At that point there was nothing to do but to deal with it. I was up all night. I would like my money back. I don’t recommend this location. The walls and ceiling are paper thin, the toilet is for short little people. On the positive, the owner was very nice when we checked in. The breakfast was descent.

Carlos at the front desk was super helpful and kind. The room was clean and the whole stay was perfect.

The beds were comfortable, we had hot water and the rooms were clean. The included breakfast was quite good with eggs, sausage, waffles and pancakes, fruit, toast, bagels, coffee, juice, boiled eggs, yogurt, it was pretty amazing! There are no elevators and the rooms are smaller than they appear in pictures. We did have to luggage our heavy suitcases up stairs but next time I'll request a 1st floor room.

We did not need the aircon, but there was a heater as part of it!
- 4/5
Property is located downtown. The property itself is excellent, however, could hear street sweeper early one morning and hotel parking empties into a thoroughfare leading to 163 FWY (convenient) but must be careful of oncoming one way traffic to FWY when leaving parking lot.
- 4.5/5
Easy access to the freeway environment outside very pleasant. I didn’t like to pay $20 for parking. However, the lady was kind enough to bypass. in the future I will not return to that hotel because of $20 parking fee.

Everything was great we loved our stay
- 4/5
Dated but clean. Great friendly, accommodating staff, especially Olivia
- 5/5
The room was very clean. This is a older hotel and it is in excellent condition. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We will stay there next time we come to San Diego.
- 4/5
Overall, it's a quaint little place to stay, the staff are a big reason we would return.
- 5/5
Very clean the room and nice place to stay

Room was ckean and the staff was courteous.

quick process of checking in and readiness
- 5/5
Everything was excellent. I didn't get the name of the gentleman at the front desk, but he was awesome. The room was clean, location was walking distance to gaslamp, parking was easy and well priced. I would stay here again without question
- 1/5
There was bed bugs.
- 4/5
Rooms were nice. location. Easy t
- 3/5
Toilet had flushing issues and room wasn’t the cleanest. Did not appreciate the fee per night to park there. Whatever price you’re thinking you’re getting for the room, add an additional $20 to it per night to not feel scammed
- 4/5
Quiet hotel, lots of beautiful flowers, gas town and balboa park within a nice walking distance (we like walking)..unfortunately a bit sketchy to walk at night. Great hosts, breakfast line up and long waits for refills on eggs, coffee etc, but seemed to be fully booked and all had good humour.
- 4/5
Room was fine. Staff was very kind and helpful!
- 5/5
Easy walk to Balboa Park and the Pier from here. Public transport is just a few blocks away, if you prefer. Lots of dining options, you are close to both Little Italy and Gaslamp District. The hotel staff were great, the room was clean and beds comfy. No pool, but the rooftop patio was lovely! Note that you are downtown and with that location comes a resident homeless population. They were quite harmless, just going about their business, and were not threatening at all.
- 5/5
Staff was exceptionally helpful and the room was very clean. Will definitely stay here again!
- 4/5
Staff was friendly and welcoming. Loved the roof garden to sit and read. Room was clean and comfortable. The only downside was that I am a very light sleeper and the noise from the neighbor's air conditioner, which ran all night long, kept me awake. Continental breakfast in the morning was good in that there was a nice selection of items.
- 4/5
Quiet place, friendly staffs. Room is clean, air conditioner worked. Located in downtown, pretty close to Gaslamp Quarter.
- 5/5
Friendly and efficient front desk rep. Clean room and conveniently located downtown.
- 4/5

- 5/5
Carlos was extremely polite and helpful
- 5/5
Staff was courteous, knowledgeable and went above and beyond for our family.
- 5/5
See you soon
- 5/5
They provided breakfast in the morning. It’s very accessible with as much available including a waffler and pancake / waffle batter, microwave oven, toaster, cereal, coffee, tea, milk and orange juice.
- 5/5
Nice little hotel in the center of San Diego, in historical style. Surprisingly good breakfast eith hot eggs, sausages, yogurts, fresh fruits and waffles.
- 4/5
Friendly staff
- 5/5
Carlos went above and beyond to accommodate me
- 5/5
The hotel and staff were great. It was a little older but the room was clean and well kept. The only downside for us was the neighborhood. It’s fun to be downtown, close to the wharf-the only downside was the rundown area where the hotel is.
- 5/5
Close to the convention center about a mile. Clean and great AC. Friendly staff.
- 5/5
We were very happy with our stay, staff was so friendly and the bed was very comfortable we stayed in corner room 114 had everything we needed and was super close to both Gaslamp district and to little italy
- 4/5
Not enough parking
- 3/5
Breakfast lacks options. AC was intermittent.
- 1/5
Unfortunately we stayed in 1st floor room. He heard a lot of noise during the night, especially coming from the upper room. We wanted a better firm mattress for a good sleep. And We got a really old one. Just Sadness
- 5/5
It had a really cute look
- 5/5
Loved our stay and they offered room service. Only downside no microwave and room looked more spacious online.
- 5/5
Staff are great. They are willing to accommodate per my requests
- 5/5
Welcoming & great customer service provided by Olivia
- 5/5
Staff very friendly. Building could use some renovations.
- 4/5
I liked everything but the free breakfast eggs. The eggs were cooked over easy and tasted rubbery. Make scrambled eggs! Otherwise a very nice place.
- 5/5
Customer service at the front was great and the location was in a great lication.
- 5/5
Carlos and his colleagues were just amazing, the rooms were top… Super Nice team, excellent location, high value for the money!
- 4/5
A fairly charming and clean motel-type hotel, with a pleasant roof deck but no other amenities, in a section of town that’s a fairly long (25-30 minute) walk from most of the restaurants bars and other attractions downtown. I was surprised it was not a better price given it was further from the center than I’d expected, but perhaps that’s because I booked only a few weeks from the dates of my convention. Not bad nothing really wrong or unpleasant, but not my first choice next time.
- 5/5
I stay 4 days property is very clean although its very old and staff is very nice polite and kind
- 4/5
The breakfast was very good. Lots of options. My room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Was close to Balboa Park, so there was a good running area nearby.
- 2/5
On the positive side, it was very clean. Unfortunately there were numerous problems. The room was tiny and didn't have a mini fridge which would be ok, but my key card didn't access the ice machine room. I went to the front desk and the employee went with me opened it with his key and asked to try mine. He was surprised mine did not work. This hotel is downtown and has no soundproofing for the rooms. In the middle of the night I was constantly awoken by people screaming and what sounded to be street racing. Due to the poor night's sleep we did not make it in time for the included breakfast so I cannot comment on that. Then the construction started. This hotel is being remodeled but it was not noted upon making a reservation. Overall, I wouldn't stay again. If you do, please do yourself a favor and bring ear plugs.
- 5/5
Thank you for this stay as we had an enjoyable time . The receptionist is the best so far we seen. He is very engaging

The beds….website stated the rooms were double beds. These beds were not queen. My husband and I barely fit but for even to be too small for and 8 and 13 year old!? Also, beds were on top of a tin/laminate frame. It made so much noise. Even if you shifted position, bumped your toe into the frame of the bed the tin was noisy. The pillows were small. Half of a standard size pillow. Bathrooms were TINY! Seemed more like a college dorm than a Best Western Hotel. I would not stay here again. Breakfast: (generous 6.5/10). Location: 8/10. Parking: 6/10. Rooms: 6.5/10. Bathroom: 6/10
- 5/5
This place was great! Typical hotel vibes but overall place was clean and friendly! The breakfast was the star of the show 10/10 recommend
- 5/5
One of the better hotels that I have stayed in San Diego that was affordable
- 3/5
Beds where listed as queen bed. They are actually full size beds.
- 4/5
Cute hotel; great service. Good for an overnight stay in downtown San Diego. Nice outdoor lounge on the 3rd floor, and good breakfast. Space in room was tight; and no fridge.
- 4/5
Breakfast was better than expected
- 5/5
Super friendly staff and an overall cute, small place to stay for the price and area
- 4/5
The hotel and staff were awesome! However, the parking is small and fills up quickly.
- 5/5
Quiet room. Good air conditioning. Good breakfast. Terrace was a good place to relax at night and eat our breakfast in the morning. With the plants and shrubbery we felt secluded from the city.
- 3/5
Overall it was a fine place, but the shower had so little water coming out of it - it was like a joke. It got hot enough, but it was such a light spray that it was hard to really feel like a shower. Watch out if you try to shampoo or have long hair - I don't see how you'd get the suds out. Also the toilet is crammed between the wall and the sink cabinet, so there's not much room there if you're larger. Overall though the place was fine, but the bathroom wasn't the greatest.
- 5/5

Amazing beds
- 5/5
The front desk staff was excellent. Gave us directions for places to eat and shopping. would for sure stay here again. Easy access to freeways
- 5/5
We had a great experience at this property! The breakfast options were quick and plentiful, the rooftop garden seating area was delightful and the staff were friendly and helpful. As with nearly any city, there are areas in downtown where the houseless population can be a bit intimidating. Our host, Carlos, gave us a map with directions to area attractions as well as some advice on areas to avoid. We parked our car the day we arrived and either walked or took the MTS wherever we wanted to go over the next three days with no issues. I would highlight recommend this property as a good location to stay in the downtown San Diego area.
- 4/5
Rooftop acces was nicd
- 2/5
Located adjacent to major, busy, street. Hear traffic noise, sirens, loud landscape crew with loud equiptment early in the morning 7am. Mal functioning printing machine made it difficult to print airline boarding passes. Walls are paper thin enabling me to hear coughing, snizzing, walking on upper floors. Difficulty sleeping in this enviroment.
- 5/5
Very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms were clean and very nicely decorated. We had an amazing stay.
- 5/5
Tout est parfait et l’accueil est excellent ❤️❤️
- 5/5
The property is unique, but well cared for. There are succulents all over, which gives the hotel a luscious and small town feel. The staff were gracious and kind, answering all of my questions and requests. The rooms are adequate, not spacious. BUT the beds are VERY comfortable, the sheets are luxurious and the towels fluffy.
- 4/5
Small hotel. The room was very nice and the breakfast was better than I expected. The bed was very comfortable. The negative things were they do not have enough parking spaces. There is only spaces for about 1/2 of the rooms. The aC was loud. In the morning we were woken up early by the cleaning carts and vacuums.
- 4/5
Only downside to our state was the occasional sirens at night and the mattress could have been a bit more comfy.
- 4/5
Nice hotel near the center of San Diego. For breakfast was only plastic dishes there and not many places to sit.
- 5/5
Nice, clean room. Good breakfast, many options
- 4/5
Very nice staff and good breakfast
- 4/5
Nice property, but can use a refresh with outside areas.
- 2/5
Dowtown was very busy and lots of sirens and commotions. Beware that parking is $20/day! I was not informed of this. I just found parking in the streets. Ive never stayed at a Best Western withiut a microwave. Ive had better stays and experience.
- 5/5
Very nice staff helpful!!!
- 5/5
Super amables y muy cómoda la habitación , el desayuno un poco de todo aunq básico todo muy rico y de primera
- 5/5
Was clean, they were friendly. Parking was tight. Good location to airport. Beds were comfy. Bathroom clean and we enjoyed the roof top.
- 5/5
Great time and very helpful and kind staff.
- 4/5
Perfect parking situation for us, we came with our newborn.
- 4/5
Great location, right downtown. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Really great. But the rooms are older and the toilets are...not great. The bathroom has no fan and opening the window just lets mosquitos in. But overall a great place for the price and would maybe stay again, mostly because they're so nice and the location is great.
- 5/5
Would definitely recommend.
- 5/5
The staff were so helpful and the property was neat and tidy. It was perfect for our needs.
- 2/5
There was no on-site parking available. In fact they have less parking spots than they have rooms, something that absolutely should not be allowed in downtown San Diego. We had to park off site, at an absolutely insane rate, and we're from Seattle now, used to live in San Diego, so we know all about insane parking rates. But to really burn our cookies a spot opened up, remained open and we were not allowed to take it. Its fowntown San Diego where we passed addicts oassed out with their drug paraphernalia in their hands, where one homeless guy pulled out a machete as we passed, where you dodge human feces and urine on the sidewalk to walk anywhere. Find a hotel with parking.
- 2/5
Parking
- 3/5
No parking
- 5/5
Great hosts!
- 1/5
This is not at all what I was expecting for almost $400/ night. No parking available so we had to park 2 blocks away at night next to a homeless shelter. The room was small the ac did not work well. My daughter and I could hear the room next to us watching porn. Horrible experience. This was the worst hotel I have stayed in.
- 5/5
Quick check-in by friendly staff and liked the complimentary breakfast.
- 4/5
Seen no recycling bind
- 3/5
For the price i paid, i was hoping a better accommodation. Parking was even in addition. Staff and location are good. we were able to walk around but that's because sun was still up at 7pm. Had it been dark, i would not recommend walking.
- 3/5
Though the property was kept clean, the rooms seemed small compared to what i normally expect. The bathroom, especially, seemed to be shoehorned in. Also, the construction noise, but that will go away, eventually.
- 5/5
Would definitely stay here again!
- 5/5
Everything was fantastic!
- 4/5
There aren’t a lot of restaurants that are close by.
- 3/5
noisy upstair floors and no hot water to shower with aswell as leaking from the room above.
- 3/5
This hotel is located in a prime location. a few blocks away from the heart of Gaslamp District, a few blocks away from Padres stadium, just 10-15 minute drive from the zoo. However they have a small parking lot that does not even have enough spaces for all their guests. If you drive a truck it will be very difficult to navigate in the parking lot. Also the including breakfast was like a 6/10
- 3/5
Dislike the parking and $20 seems to be much and ur not guaranteed parking. The shower/restroom doesn't have a fan so the room was very steamy after our showers. A bit dusty and are bathroom door didn't work. I think you also need a screen for the window and it was hard to open
- 5/5
Nice, cozy, and quaint motel, surrounded by tall buildings… unexpectedly nice!
- 4/5
The breakfast was great. Lots of options.
- 5/5
Really nice hotel, lousy neighborhood to walk to dinner
- 5/5
I like that it was so close to all the places we where going. The breakfast was great.
- 4/5
Its definitely a 2 stars hotel.
- 5/5
Great location
- 5/5
Room was clean, staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent! Good location, easily within walking distance to restaurants, Gaslamp Quarter, etc.
