    Easy access to San Diego Zoo and the beautiful Mission Beach . The rooms are small , no sofa lounging area. Furniture a bit worn but the beds were comfortable enough. Loved the free parking . There is a $150 deposit required per room which is not listed in the hotel payment description, however.

    From the moment I arrived, I never felt comfortable or safe. Throughout my stay, I often felt as though I was being followed around the property, which created an unsettling and uncomfortable atmosphere. As a result, I ended up checking out earlier than planned. The cleanliness of the room was also concerning. The sheets had an unpleasant odor, and I found hair in the bedding, making me question whether the linens had been properly changed and sanitized before my arrival. Overall, the room did not appear as clean as expected. The breakfast options were extremely limited, with very little variety available from day to day. For guests staying multiple nights, this quickly became frustrating and repetitive. To make matters worse, the parking fees were excessively expensive and added significant additional costs to an already disappointing stay. Between the cleanliness concerns, lack of food options, high parking costs, and overall feeling of being unsafe, this was one of the most uncomfortable hotel experiences I have had. I would not stay here again.

    When I arrived, the refrigerator was not working. I called the front desk multiple times, but no one answered. I was left on hold for more than 30 minutes, which was extremely frustrating. When I finally spoke with staff and requested either a replacement refrigerator or a different room, I was told that neither option was available. This was especially disappointing since I had a four-night reservation and expected better service and accommodations. Due to these issues, I felt I had no choice but to end my stay after the first night. I only hope the refund process for the remaining nights is handled fairly and without unnecessary difficulty. I expect much better from a Hampton property and hope management addresses these issues to improve future guests' experiences.

    This hotel is quite simple, but clean and comfy. The breakfast was decent and enjoyed grabbing coffee from the coffee station! The staff is very nice as well. We would consider staying here again. The area is ok, but it is not a walkable at all.

    It was comfortable and clean, breakfast was good, parking was adequate although there was a large fee. There was a parking fee, buying a soda from the vending area was $5 (over charge) and they have an online check in where you could pick rooms which we did because I wanted to be close to my elderly disabled mothers room and when we got there they put us on a different floor. What’s the point of online check in if they don’t use it. Also it’s miles away from any good so location isn’t great.

    I booked two rooms for my 18 year old son and a couple friends who were running the Rock n Roll Half Marathon. The lady at the front desk refused to let them check in, saying my son had to be 21 to check in to the room. If this is the case, Hampton and Expedia need to update the rules stating that the person checking in must be 18 to the person must be 21. Luckily another nice traveler checked them in under his name, otherwise they would have been out on the street.

    The staff here were absolutely wonderful and very accommodating. However, the overall cleanliness of the hotel was disappointing. The hallways looked like they hadn't been vacuumed in a long time, and there were noticeable fingerprints all over the glass surfaces. Great team, but the property needs better upkeep

    The room was fine, and the staff was helpful. Didn’t really use much other than the room itself. Was truly annoying to have the water shut off from 10am-4pm both days we were there, though. For most, that may not have been an issue (out sight-seeing or what have you), but we just needed a place to relax after a long week of driving. Things happen, of course, but it made our stay less relaxing than it was supposed to be.

    I called the front desk 3 times, waiting an hour in between each call, for a couple extra pillows. Never got extra pillows brought to the room. I decided to go ask at the front desk if I could grab them, she agin said she would have them brought up. 11 pm at night still no pillows. The pool had no towels. People were having to walk to their rooms wet and cold. It was 67 outside. I think the hotel was very understaffed for a 3 day weekend.

    This is a great place to stay. I have to stay here several times. I was unlucky and the person must’ve had a dog in the room. This is the first time several years that anything was an issue. It wasn’t bad but you could definitely tell that a dog was in the room.

    The shower is terrible you have to accept cold water or hot but very weak flow. Sink is clogged you have to fix it. Towels you have to inform them and they expect you to take the towel to the room.

    The stay was hampered due to the fact that work on the hotel water system was being done causing the water to the room’s to be off from 10:00am - 4:00pm on the weekdays and everything would be fully functional on the weekend. We were informed of this upon checking in - and was told that we could cancel and check the area for other accommodations. Upon receiving this news I requested to speak to a manager and was informed that no manager was available and they were not sure when one would be available during our planned stay. As if this wasn’t bad enough, there was no hot water for showers on the weekend. Starting that this was a horrible experience is an understatement.

    I wish I didn’t have to say this, but I’ve been burned by The Hampton Inn two times in the past two months. First by the San Marcos location and now Mission Valley. To start, it would have been nice if the desk person had given us the attached notice when we checked in. I tried to take a shower and there was no hot water. I reported it to the desk person who said that the people in charge of this would be in at 7am. After 7 I checked again and was told that some rooms were having issues with this. So, no shower for me. We were out all day. It was late. Tried the water again, still cold. Desk person acknowledged problem and we changed rooms at 11pm. Finally got hot water. In addition, a homeless person in the pool area knocked on the glass door to be let in. He was denied. Last, late at night I wanted a cup of tea and only caffeinated teas were out and the desk person was unable to replenish the tea supply. This was not a pleasant stay. We have stayed at this location several times since 2024 and it has been great. We ended up asking for a refund and the hotel staff has hopefully made the request for Expedia to look into this.     We were not made aware that the hotel was under construction prior to us arriving and that water would be shut off from 9 am - 3 pm during the week. I was promised a 30% discount off the one night we were affected with the 3 of the 5 rooms I booked, but alas this was not provided. Very disappointed with this Hampton. I've stayed in several and this is the worst I've stayed in. Never again. So count this 5x my comments for this hotel.

    My fiancé and I just stayed there for his 50th birthday and I actually like the hotel. He had breakfast every morning which made his day because it it was good and had options. The rooms were clean and everything else was pretty cool. I’d stay there again in a heartbeat.

    The property was under renovation and the water was shut off from 10am until 4pm! The lobby was dusty with residue from the construction debris. In addition, the room furniture needs to be updated. I should've been made aware of these conditions prior to booking!

    At 10:15pm we discovered our room had NO HOT WATER… cold ONLY. The girl at front desk had obviously had a long day as her frustration showed.. but thanked us for our patience. However, she left her shift that night never having done anything about our situation. I called again at 11:00 and the next man on duty arranged for us to move rooms. Security came to trade keys but had the room numbers all mixed up. We did finally get to our new room a short while later. The morning clerk was completely indifferent over the situation. I’ll be reaching out to Hilton. I did not like the fact my card had to be swiped BEFORE keys was given with an ADDITIONAL $50 charge to cover any incidentals we charged.. then it was to be refunded the next morning. Parking was an additional 27$.

    It was a typical hotel stay, my only real issue was the “cat pee “ smell from the carpet. Thankful that they allow pets, but the cleaning could be a bit more. (And the water got cut off (at 10am) and we couldn’t take a shower that was wild!

    breakfast was ok room was ok parking was ridiculous I don't think I should have paid for parking since they had so many malfunctions. I even missed Mothers day dinner with my kids because we could not use the elevator when we checked in they said that they shut the water off until 4:30 it was off for 4 days of the 6 days we were there, plus they were working on the ceiling at the location of breakfast. plus, the window in our room was broken we could here traffic and all the noise. the elevator was broken also they even had the maintenance guy from Homestead suites next door because they had no one available. they were telling people to go up the stairs, I was on the fifth floor and had a daughter who uses a wheelchair. our Fridge in the room did not get cold. the Front desk staff were rude did not care about the customer. I asked for quarters to wash, and they sent me to the Homestead Next door or told us to go the liquor store down the street. the lady that checked me out said she could not give me a statement I needed to ask booking.com

    Overall a great stay. I would definitely come back. Very clean, nice property, nice amnenitites, and great staff at the front desk and breakfast area. My only complaints would be having to pay for parking when we aren't even downtown (hotel circle) and being able to hear stone feet staying above us, as well as the cleaning staff conversations and laughing in the hall before I was ready to wake up.

    The only negative thing I would say is that the person directly above us was working out from 2 AM to 5:30 AM both nights. When we contacted the desk, they did go upstairs and talk to that person but unfortunately it happened two nights in a row and I was told that they would have somebody on duty just in case it might happen again, but nonetheless it did

    Breakfast was just okay. I was dissatisfied with paying for parking. Most hotel of this size with large outdoor parking lots DO NOT charge for parking. So I will check on that first next time I travel, and for that reason I will not stay at this hotel again. I did not like paying for parking since the hotel had ample outside parking. I felt this was a ripoff and will not stay there again when I travel to San Diego. Also the location right off a major freeway was a turnoff . Even though I was on the 5th floor I could hear cars racing off all night long. They should put in soundproof windows for rooms facing the freeway.

    The Manager at the front desk did not warn us about the Water shutoff that was implemented at 10 AM on Wednesday, May 6. When checking in the staff wasn't very inviting and cordial. The hotel clerk that was checking us in was trying to charge me for an additional $100 or more toward the accomodation even though I had already paid for the room in full minus the incidental deposit. She wasn't very apologetic for her mistakes and didn't inform me of how much longer it would take. The breakfast staff nor the hotel front desk staff wasn't very transgender friendly.

    Location, always stay but not as comfortable as other times Roach in my room, pillow cases had black marks on them & forgot to take pics , curtains didn’t stay shut , dryer in washroom left clothes damp, fridge in room did not keep cream cheese cold had to throw cheese . Not sure if bed bugs but me and husband have been itching pas couple days thought maybe just weather or something, got home still was itching . And two doors down at night neighbor was screaming top of voice and kept getting g louder .

    Biggest complaint flow the $27/night parking fee. For what? There's no businesses nearby, it's a row of hotels. No reason to charge that much for a place that I need a car to drive to. I won't stay here again for that reason. It feels predatory. I'm done with being nickeled and domed everywhere I go. Parking should be included in the room rate.

    This place was amazing! The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. There was always water available as soon as you walked into the lobby and the water with orange slices was delicious! The gym was great, small but had all the necessities. Breakfast buffet was delicious every morning and I loved the spacious amount of seating they had. My room was comfortable and clean.

    The room was spacious enough for our family and felt well taken care of. Everything was smooth and easy, and we were able to relax and enjoy our time, which is always the goal. The only small drawbacks were that they only had one crib available, which was a bit tricky since we’re traveling with twin toddlers under three. Also, breakfast options were somewhat limited for gluten-free needs, so that required a little extra planning on our end. Overall, a great stay and a solid 4 stars. With just a couple small improvements, it would easily be a five-star experience!

    Breakfast is good. However, a lady and her child was knocking at our door on the 2nd night and Said” Please let us in.” I said, “No I’m sorry”. The lady continued to knock at our door waking up my husband. My husband tried to look into the peephole and noted the lady and her child still outside. I called front desk, at first not answering and after 3 calls finally answered. I told her about the lady. She said she called someone to check and said nobody was there anymore. I went to front desk feeling afraid and not secured and no assurance was given to us. Instead she dismissed my concern. We also got 2 leaflets from restaurants slipped under our door. How can delivery man go up to the hotel rooms? Is the place secured? What if they are pretending to be delivery men? The lady said they are really allowed to go up the floors to slip leaflets. What about the security of the guests?

    The location is excellent, it’s about 15mins drive to the airport, Sea world, and Midway museum. A lot of food options in about 12 mins. The swimming pool is very clean and very easy to reach from the room to there. Free breakfast a lot of option. Hot/cool water ready for 24 hours. Self-serve laundry room. You need to have $4 for wash $4 for dry so better be prepared $8 quarters coins for each load. Worth for the price. N/A

    The public areas, gym and pool were nice and updated but the room felt a little worn and had a weird, musty smell. The bathroom was particularly dated. I was annoyed that the “self parking” advertised was actually paid parking despite no valet, no security. The only good thing about the breakfast was the fresh waffle option. Terrible coffee. For the price of the stay, I definitely expected a bit better.

    When it came to the condition and cleanliness of the hotel, I would say the room was clean in some areas, but some surfaces such as the doors and table were sticky and did not seem properly cleaned. The bathroom door also had crayon marks and grease on it, which I was able to clean myself with wipes we had brought. Overall, the hotel seems like it could use some updates. For the price of our one-night stay, I expected the room and overall condition of the hotel to be better maintained.

    Staff was very nice and helpful. The property could use some TLC. The chair cushions were old and grimy, and the faux leather was peeling in the rooms and in the lobby. The bathroom mirror in the room had corrosion, and the desk and dresser were severely chipped. However, the beds were clean and it was quiet during our stay.     Room was okay. The sink didn't drain and the shower had rust running down the walls. We were asked at check-in how often we wanted the room cleaned and we requested daily. That didn't happen until I asked about it and even then it wasn't noted and I had to ask again. There were quite a few homeless in the area who were hanging around the building late in the evenings and early in the mornings.

    I originally booked this room because I was looking for a hotel that had a shuttle to the airport and that was one of the filters I selected and when I checked in, there was no shuttle service. I was put in a room where the pool/hot tub was right out side the window and early in the morning there were kids screaming and yelling from the cold water that sounded loud enough to be in my room. I was also right by the elevator and could hear people talking and then there must have been some activity going on in the room above me because it sounded like there were people jumping off the bed onto the floor and running across the room.... so, it was not the quietest or most relaxing stay, but it did the job and I called for an uber to take me to the airport the next day. I don't believe I would stay again.

    I chose this property specifically because it advertised electric vehicle charging for guests. Unfortunately, there was only one functioning charger for the entire hotel, and my car wasn’t charged when I needed to leave for LA in the morning. I was also disappointed by how loud the hallways were. While I understand the hotel can’t control guest behavior, the lack of soundproofing made it feel like the hallway noise was inside the room and made it impossible to sleep after 7 AM.

    The staff was friendly and efficient, we checked in quickly and parked close to the entrance. ($26 for parking is steep.) Our room was spacious and clean, I loved the bed and the bedding was very nice. A few signs of wear and tear on the furniture, but very comfortable overall. I took a bubble bath, which was heavenly…lots of hot water. The hot tub looked inviting, but I wanted privacy. Breakfast was delicious. Lots of choices, and everything was fresh. I had a cheese omelette, sausage, and yogurt. The eating area was comfy. Nice chairs and big dining room. I like strong coffee, and you won’t find that here. We would definitely return to this nice hotel.

    Breakfast was good overall, but one day no option for eggs without meat. Our room was above pool which was very loud, but thankfully pool hours ended at 10pm. However opened early so at 6am we were woke by people talking in the hot tub. Snack tray was a nice surprise, so many snacks and great options for all. Overall clean hotel. Walls in stairwell were stained and dirty. Staff was friendly and helpful with all requests.

    The staff at the property were great. I had checked in early via the Hilton app and had chosen my room. Upon arrival, they told me that the occupants had decided to extend so that room was no longer available. They put us in another room that had a body odor stench so bad, we could not stay in it. The front desk didn't hesitate to find another room which told me that this is not an uncommon occurence. What bothered me is that when I asked a housekeeper down the hall for air freshener, she claimed she had none and dismissed me when I tried to ask further questions. When I went down to the front desk, they were calling to someone on their radio stating that that room needed air freshener. That didn't make me feel good about the housekeeping staff. We've stayed at this location 3 years in a row now. One improvement they've made here is putting in automatic coffee machines versus the big urns. You get fresh coffee each time. Breakfast is still crazy - there are tons of families staying here during this time so there isn't much space to find a table. I can't fault the property for that - it's the nature of the time of year and the fact that they offer a free breakfast. You just have to be patient if you want waffles. The rooms are clean and fairly spacious. You do have to pay a ridiculously high parking price - $26 is too high for this area but I know this is a revenue generator for CA. Just consider that cost when comparing other properties.

    The breakfast was surprisingly great with carnitas in addition to eggs, sausage, waffles, bagels, etc. The furniture in the rooms is very old, and in the case of the sofa and chairs in my room, totally threadbare. The tub also could've used replacing. It would've been nice if the one elevator wasn't out of service for the three days I was there, but the employees claimed they didn't know. Nevertheless, the location and price are great.

    We were not told we would be paying $26 a day for parking until we arrived. We had to ask for a hair dryer, a second roll of toilet paper, Kleenex, and when we showered the shampoo was empty. We were told the designated smoking area was out past the swimming pool however the doors were locked until 10am. No ashtray of any kind was provided.

    The staff wasn't great. The furniture was run-down. The plugs on the dressers didn't work. The ottoman at the foot of the bed had most of its vinyl ripped off, giving the room a trashy feel. The furniture in the lobby and dining area was excessively worn, with vinyl peeling from all the chairs and couches, making the entire hotel look tacky. The coffee was not in the eating area, which was unfortunate.

    My family and I just stayed for the past 3 days for Thanksgiving. Upon check in the front desk agent was nice and walked me thru what I needed. If the rating was on kindness and the breakfast I would give it 5 stars. Unfortunately if it was rated fully rated on the room I would give it a 1. The room sucked if I was put it bluntly. It was dirty and dusty. We had a cigarette burn in the curtains. We had to plug in the air conditioner. We had an awful smell that lingered. I’m not sure if they put us in a room that is just for people with dogs because we did bring our pug. The bathroom was the cleanest space in the room. I’m such a non confrontational person that I didn’t say anything because we were strictly using the room to sleep and eat breakfast since my family lives in town. We did have a random fire alarm in the middle of the night where everyone self evacuated with no further explanation text or email after. Anyways we still made the best of it and enjoyed our Thanksgiving with our family in town.

    The room was very comfortable and clean. The lobby was spacious and the staff welcoming. I really enjoyed my stay here. I only have a few complaints. Loved the breakfast but did not enjoy the flimsy paper plates, plasticware and paper cups. it is environmentally wastful to use so many disposable items, not to mention just unpleasant to eat and drink from. The coffee was not very good. Also the parking spaces were so narrow that I could not comfortably get in and out of my car. One morning had to get in from the passenger side which was a challenge due to back problems. I understand this is a national chain and you're probably never going to do away with the disposable breakfast service items, but please consider what your decisions are doing to the planet. This will affect my decision going forward about whether to stay at Hampton Inn. I dont want to end this review without mentioning you're outstanding and friendly staff. Hampton is doing something right to foster a staff that truly makes guests feel welcome and appreciated.

    The EV charging parking slots were occupied by a jeep and a car, both non-EVs, thus preventing me from charging my Tesla EV. Hilton/Hampton Inn management should do something more to ensure those parking slots be really reserved to EV clients. The clerk at the check-in counter cannot do anything to help us. I look at this EV charging capabilities as a factor when booking so I’m disappointed this happened. Hoping you can do something to correct this. Thank you. JTA 25Oct25

    I didn't appreciate how the photos look online versus in person. It's very deceiving.     The food was staff and front desk had no personality when they are employed in hospitality. We are paying customers that when we cant have access to ie. Ice cause its on a different floor or not working and we are fending for ourselves is not the service we are paying for.     Very friendly staff for check in! Beautiful property, felt very safe. Really nice pool and hot tub area. Room felt very spacious. Loved the continental breakfast. This must be a popular spot for sports teams though because a few high school soccer and baseball teams were staying there. I’m glad they have a good place to stay, though I would’ve rather not stayed at the same time as so many teen boys because they left the pool area a mess and also made it difficult for the staff to keep up with breakfast items. Parking is a little more expensive than other hotels I found in this area of San Diego, but parking is still tight and fills up fast. My only complaint about the room is that the fridge automatically turns off after 2 hours and you have to keep turning it back on, and there’s no tiny freezer in it. I have ice packs for medical supplies, and I had to keep covering them with ice in the ice bucket because the fridge barely worked and had no freezer. Also there’s no fan or ventilation for the shower, so we had to shower with the bathroom door open. But these are minor issues compared to most hotels! Overall we enjoyed our stay and would come back.

    Its lounge is huge and breakfast is great I love its 24 hours supply of coffee and cold drinking water Please be alert on its parking charge I rate high on its cleanliness and comfort atmosphere The friendly staffs and outdoor hot tub are wonderful I would like to recommend this hotel.

    One area that could use improvement is the fitness center. While it was nice that the hotel offered a gym, the space was fairly limited with only basic equipment. Adding more variety such as free weights, a few additional machines, or a larger workout area would make a big difference for guests who want to maintain their fitness routine while traveling. Overall, this was a positive stay and I would recommend the hotel, especially for its cleanliness and excellent staff. With a more fully equipped gym, it could be an even better experience.

    We stayed in a lot of uncomfortable hotels lately but this hotel has been one of the best experiences. Room is very clean and provides everything you need and staffing is very friendly and polite. Would definitely stay here again my next visit to San Diego.

    We stayed here at the beginning and end of our trip. The first unit was lovely and clean, new, and quiet (top floor). It did overlook an empty abandoned lot. The second time our room had some visible wear and tear and overlooked a nicer “courtyard Marriott” lot. We still loved the hotel for our needs and price. The staff was friendly and helpful always. The breakfast is basic but good, again, for the price not to be beat. They need some new cushions outside (missing many from the fire pit chairs), but overall a nice hotel for the value.

    Staff was awful did not help at all. Room was horrible outlets didnt work. Water pressure wanst good. Our room was not on time and lied on expedia website. On top of that they charged me 50.00 for patking which does not say they tell u when u check in so i was not happy i was upset. As well as no.cart to move luggaes. Was so supset. Outside neighbor hotel was horrible . Parking lot was scary. Pool was not clean slippery people falling uneven pavement

    We did not feel welcomed when we arrived. We walked in the door and were not even acknowledged let alone welcomed by the front desk staff. They were helping a couple of other guests check in, but then continued to ignore us while they both worked on their co.puters for several minutes before finally saying a word to us. Breakfast was also a little disappointing as they did not keep it stocked well enough to last through the breakfast service.

    The room was ok…we needed a place to sleep for the night and if that’s all you need this is right for you. I paid for what I thought had a decent rating but was disappointed in what we got. The shower was so gross we had to actually wear slides in the shower. The shower walls were filthy and the drain had so much gunk and slime. The bathroom floor had dirt in it from last person. The lock for the door was crusty and gross. The pool and sitting area are really pretty though.

    After our first night stay, we woke up to find bed bugs on the bed and bites on our bodies. We were completely horrified and disgusted. I called the front desk to speak to the manager. She was not in. The front desk clerk worked on getting us a new room. The room wasn’t available right of way. We asked for the main manager Elizabeth to call me. Left several voice messages, text messages and messages with the front desk. She never contacted us. We were moved to a new room later that day. We were told that our original room had been sprayed down. The next day, Cristina (one of the other managers) provided us with quarters and detergent to do our laundry. She was kind, helpful and apologetic for what had occurred. However, the property manager Elizabeth never contacted us. We prepaid for the room and are still waiting to get reimbursed. We will never stay at this property or recommend it to anyone.

    It was a pleasant stay. Clean room. Breakfast was great. One thing I would say would be the lobby where we check-in… we sat at the tables waiting for the check-in and the tables were dirty. About 3-4 tables so we just stood off to the side.

    I wouldn’t stay at this property on a weekend again. It was quite chaotic with many families not necessarily actively supervising their children at the breakfast buffet or pool facilities. Also, during the hottest part of the day, the pool is completely shaded making it pretty chilly. If it’s super hot, I’m sure that wouldn’t matter, but SD is rarely super hot.

    We were standing in front of our room for 1 hour because the card keys weren’t working and the receptionist insisted that they worked. It happened that the engineer told us the doors would often get jammed. We needed some sleep before our early morning flight and it was terribly frustrating to be in front of our assigned room with all our luggage unable to get in.
