Reviews
The hotel receives generally positive reviews, with guests praising the staff, location, and amenities. However, there are consistent complaints about the quality of the rooms, particularly the beds and pillows, and some guests feel the resort fees and parking costs are too high.
- Excellent staff and customer service
- Great location with beautiful grounds and amenities
- Rooms are outdated and uncomfortable
- High resort fees and parking costs

Older resort, overall an okay stay. Room could have been maintained/cleaned better.

Everything was perfect thank you

Pool and hot tub and walkway around bay were so convenient right outside our queen studio! Nothing!
- 5/5
Loved it! Nothing!
- 5/5
From the moment we arrived they were very welcoming. Property very clean and great food. We had our 13 year old son and he had a blast from swimming, meeting new friends, playing basketball and enjoying the access to the beach. It was simply amazing.
- 5/5
Family friendly and nice dining options for kids
- 4/5
We have stayed here before, good location, clean rooms, great staff.
- 5/5
Beautiful and well maintained ground. The staff are nice and friendly. We booked a Villa on the Miramar bldg overlooking the bay and the sidewalks of the bay and it was soo beautiful. The Cove restaurant is facing the beach with a beautiful view. Highly recommend for families and couples! It’s worth it!!
- 3/5
The property is beautiful, and my top-floor room had a great view. The resort generally looks like the photos, although the grounds felt much smaller in person than expected. Check-in was disappointing. I arrived early and waited about 15 minutes to be helped despite being the only guest in line. It appeared staff were being trained during the process, which made the experience feel disorganized. I was also surprised by the $40 early check-in fee if a room was available. I knew about the $46 daily resort fee before arriving, but I didn’t feel the included amenities (Wi-Fi, pool towels, pickleball and tennis courts, etc.) justified the cost. The on-site dining was expensive. One mimosa and two shrimp tacos with no sides came to nearly $50 after tax and tip. Service was also slow, and I waited about 10 minutes to be seated on a Thursday morning with very few guests around. The room was nice overall, but there was leftover takeout food in the refrigerator from a previous guest. The bathroom was extremely small, and bottled water in the room cost $8 per bottle. One bright spot was the employee working in the coffee shop. I didn’t get her name, but she was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and provided the best customer service I experienced during my stay. Beautiful views, but the service, housekeeping oversight, food prices, would make me choose a different property in the future.
- 5/5
Very close to San Diego Seaworld and airport. Pool was very nice and huge
- 4/5
However, the soundproofing in the guest rooms leaves much to be desired; noise from adjacent rooms is audible. Since my room was near the main entrance, I was frequently woken up by the loud sound of the door opening and closing—despite having specifically requested a quiet room beforehand. I didn't ask to switch rooms because I only discovered the issue after fully unpacking for the night and didn't want the hassle, though I felt it was worth mentioning. Additionally, apart from the front desk staff, the service attitude of the other hotel employees was quite cold. Overall, setting these details aside, the hotel is decent, and the facilities are comprehensive and convenient.
- 1/5
Do not stay here! The pictures are deceiving. The rooms smelled like mold and wet dog. Our family checked out within hours of checking in. The worst part is the Director “Grant” kept dodging communication from Expedia for a refund after I was guaranteed one at the front desk when leaving. I still have yet to receive a refund for the hotel fees paid in person. All around awful experience and not worth the energy.
- 5/5
Parking was super convenient and close. Walking path near the beach provides access to two close neighborhood parks. Would recommend and would return.
- 5/5
As always, a beautiful place to bring your family! Don't hesitate. Lovely place to dine and relax!
- 4/5
I believe the pool area tile and grouting needs to be updated. It’s looking a little worn.
- 1/5
The pictures on Hotels App and the actually area is not the same. Inside the room smell bad. My lady and I went inside the room and my lady basically told me to leave, not to stay. So I canceled to stay. I didn't get my money back. Now I lost the money and not happy. We drove back home late that day after seeing two friends from Dallas. We supposed to stay over night but had to drive back to Orange County that night. Fortunately I have a Tesla with FSD so it did all the driving for me. LOL.
- 5/5
The view of the bay from the spa watching the sunset is beautiful
- 1/5
Breakfast and everything else on site was too expensive to waste money. 1st and last time I'll be booking with this resort.
- 5/5
The resort exceeded our expectations and the kids absolutely loved it! It is beautiful and clean and every interaction with the staff was positive! Highly recommend.
- 4.5/5
I didnt have breakfast
- 5/5
This is my first time staying at this resort. My family and I enjoyed it very much. We loved all the amenities, restaurants, and excellent staff. They all went far and beyond to make sure we had an excellently pleasant stay. From front desk, pool, restaurants, and throughout. Definitely coming back.
- 5/5
Include microwaves in room. Make showers slightly bigger not tall friendly.
- 3.5/5
Loved being able to walk to the ocean & be in the sand The pool felt a little small for the number of guests at the hotel. Our bed mattress was very firm and you could hear the springs squeaking every time you turned over.
- 5/5
On the bay and dog, friendly resort, very nice parking was overpriced per night in my opinion
- 4/5
I really enjoyed it and would book it again
- 5/5
amazing room with great views , loved the pool area and how walkable everything was.
- 4/5
Overall we really enjoyed our stay there and would come back.

Excellent day. The room was clean. The staff was very friendly. It was a great place to celebrate my birthday with the family. Breakfast at the restaurant facing the bay was great. Love the live music. Would definitely recommend and come again.
- 5/5
Problem with our patio was the furniture was dirty and had bird poop on them and base's of chairs were unevenand would rock if you moved the slightest bit. otherwise we enjoyed ourselves.
- 5/5
We fell in love with this resort and will be recommending it to everyone we know! It was our kids’ birthdays and the staff went above and beyond, they decorated the room for us so when our little ones arrived they were so surprised. The room was spacious and clean; we enjoyed having a patio that opened up to a grassy area where the kids could run. The pool area was AMAZING and it was so nice to have a kiddie pool our two year old could play in with ease. The wait staff by the pool was super friendly and attentive. It was awesome to walk right out onto the beach by the bay and next time we’d be interested in doing a bonfire at the fire pits. We’d also be interested in a room with a fire pits in the future! The resort in a great location, super close to Sea World, Old Town, and Belmont Park. Plus fun playgrounds right next to the hotel. Also, the room service was quick and delicious! We imagine coming back as a family, and also as a relaxing spot for a parents’ weekend away. Visiting this resort will become a new tradition for us and we appreciate the staff for making it such a memorable first visit.

Nice place and very cool with the fire pits off the patios, the complimentary s’mores kits were a bonus as well
- 5/5
We love this property it has beautiful views no matter where you stay. It’s so close to everything. And the bay is the best part. They have boats to rent and if you want to stay at the hotel they have a huge pool.

- 5/5
We had an amazing stay here and look forward to coming back in the future!
- 5/5
It is always a treat to stay at the resort, the restaurant was very accommodating for a few large party meals. The restaurant staff went above and beyond for a celebration dinner, making the college grad feel extra special. In all we had 4 rooms and 8 guests, we all had a fantastic experience.
- 5/5
Thank you so much for the service, and for the excellent, warm welcome. This is my second time staying with you, and each time I am convinced that I made the right choice. Thank you so much.
- 3/5
This hotel also gives guests that use other Internet sites to book their rooms, in the tower, which is not like the pictures. Instead, you get what is called “a Traditional room. Traditiional to them means basic, basic. Best to review the website online thoroughly, call this Hotel and ask what is the view like, and ask them not to book you in the tower, and instead a one or two story building that somewhat faces west, towards the water, and has a partial view of the water, or at least of the gardens. And yes you will pay more for a water view of the water inlet. On the good list is the free breakfast. Bet there at least by 8:30. Also make plans to eat elsewhere as the menu’s are limited and you make not like the choices. I doubt if you will eat more than one meal here. The staff is great! Very friendly, and huge smiles! If you don’t mind a limited and cheap room, then ask for the 7 story building called the Towers, apartment style traditional room. This Tower, is not in the photo’s, and it separated from the two story condo-like buildings. I was on the back side of the Tower. My sliding glass door with the balcony, faced the freeway. When I opened it, all I heard is LA traffic.
- 5/5
Had a grt stay the staff and bartenders were amazing ..
- 5/5
Everything was good .
- 5/5
Great vibes. Will definitely be back!!
- 5/5
Isabella not only friendly but very helpful making sure my stay was easier for my family and answer all my questions
- 2/5
Toilet is so dirty with black residues. Box of tissue has only a few left and we didn’t want to bother calling for service! Towels smelly. Shower head is weak not much water coming out! Parking is good! 3 charging stations (pay to charge) but you have to bring tesla adapter.
- 5/5
Great resort!
- 4/5
Overall great experience. The rooms at this resort are starting to look a little dated. The TV in my room was leaning so far forward it was hard to see and looked like it might fall over; maintenance did correct his during my stay. The resorts pool area is gorgeous and the conference facilities are very very nice.
- 5/5
Didn’t have breakfast

Outside of that… the trip was great! But 3 stars is what you get for the back pain.

Nice layout, amenities, etc. Dated. Maid staff pounding on my door at 8:20 in the morning. Gate to leave property did not work. Card behind me yelling at me like it was my fault! Finally got a hold of someone to come help and he fixed it. How was I supposed to get out after check out? Still, the gate was broken! A very fat lady in a car behind me yelled at me like it was my fault!

Drinks were very expensive pool side. The should have a Happy Hour.

The staff was friendly The room was old and musty, staff stated because I went through a booking site, I wasn’t happy about that. $700 for two nights and I got a low budget room. Horrible restaurants to choose from to eat & pay to park. Amenities charge was a joke.

All the staff was super helpful and kind. Great stay over all!
- 4/5
The pool isn’t big but it wasn’t overly crowded. Definitely a family friendly place to stay.
- 5/5
Staff was incredible...service like this does not come around very often anymore. Bravo.
- 5/5
Very family friendly, clean, safe and activities were awesome!
- 1/5
The idea the pictures sell you online is different to what you get in person a lot of poor maintenance on the property room felt un sanitary the bed sheets felt as if they were still wet and uncomfortable mattress. I didn’t get a good sleep definitely will not return here
- 5/5
They get everything right at this hotel. Formally a Hilton and built to those standards so rooms are quiet even the ones facing a major freeway. Rooms have been tastefully updated. The bed was firm, which I like my spouse thought they were too firm. Mission Bay itself isn’t the greatest body of water you’ve ever seen, but the resort does create a very inviting upscale atmosphere. Service is excellent, the in room Lavazzo espresso machines are as good as it gets for in room coffee. Resort fee. Cocktails and parking are high, but that’s to be expected at a property like this..
- 2/5
Beds were so hard and squeaked so badly. Absolutely no padding on them felt like we were better off sleeping on the cold tile floor. Coffee machine didn’t work and it took the maintenance guy hours just to fix the tv. We stayed in a waterfront villa paying $470 a night and I don’t think we will be returning. We had to go home and sleep we were so exhausted
- 4/5
There was a lot of RVs parked in front of the building I think that belong to homeless people
- 5/5
Exceptional
- 5/5
Everything was great, the staff was super friendly and super helpful, the room was clean and spacious with my family of 5. THE ONLY thing we had a problem with was the hours of the two other bars/restaurant. Granted we went durn the week but the resort was still busy. The pool side bar was only open on Sunday and Plaza del sol was only open because there was an event going on. Plus the food menu was different at all three. Other than that everything else was amazing.
- 5/5
The pool area and restaurants are great. Loved being right on the bay.
- 4/5
Good location. Nice pool. Property seemed tired

Very clean , beautiful property great views very private property and relaxing!! Will be back

Had fun great stay
- 5/5
Room was cleaned daily, staff was super friendly and accommodating. The bar area is nice, a decent selection of food. Coffee shop on site which was great! Overall great experience, in a good location, will be staying there again!
- 3.5/5

- 5/5
The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Property is beautiful - right on the Bay - with tons of fun activities right on site. Food in the restaurant was delicious. The only concern was the loud music that was being played in the park next to the hotel until 9:45 p.m. on Sunday night. But that was it.
- 5/5
Perfect location for a SD getaway near the bay.

Place is dated. No elevator working, so we had to carry luggage upstairs. Pickleball courts were packed, so we were not able to play.
- 5/5
Perfect place for a family trip

The online downside to our stay was our king size bed. The mattress was uncomfortable, we recently stayed at the Yaamava resort and the mattress felt like a cloud. The box spring was also outdated.

Stay was alright. We went during the end of March but seemed that some families were still on spring break as the pool was quite busy all days we were here. The food on site was not that great, and nothing is really walkable since it’s a little secluded. But quick drive will get you some better food. The coffee was pretty good but that’s it, the pastries and the sandwiches they offered were so mediocre and look like they just sit there. The hospitality was lacking. Rarely any one ever said hi to us, even upon checkout, they just handed me the receipt and didn’t even ask how our stay was. Overall the room was clean and it is well located with a short drive to the beaches and zoo. Nice parks with big playground walking distance.

Great Stay!
- 4/5
Food was exceptional at the restaurant. We had most meals there and enjoyed it all. Pricey with resort fees. Great location with nice pathway to walk, run. Great Play ground near by for kids to play.
- 5/5
I already recommended to so many people
- 5/5
Overall super fun and friendly property! The only slight is the service at Covewood food is fantastic but service left things to be desired. Would stay at again! Good atmosphere and friendly staff
- 5/5
Food was excellent (except for the ham & cheese quiche which tasted like it came in a cardboard box from Walmart). Restaurant's suggested tips, 20% and more, are figured on the total -- including the TAX. I don't appreciate that.

Rooms are a little dated but overall very large

Room didn’t have a tub for kids, microwave to heat food and the toilet was more like a potty chair… tiny.

Great hotel, very clean and comfortable. Would recommend.
- 5/5
Great hotel, very clean and comfortable. Would recommend.
- 4/5
Activities for all ages. Restaurants were good but pricey. The scheduled events like movie night and smores were a letdown, felt cheap and forgettable. Room was okay but there was a leftover sock and toy from previous people when we got there and a strange clicking sound in the bathroom every 20 seconds. Also no overhead lighting and no way to turn off the patio light at night.
- 4/5
Negatives: AC didn't work, but it did provide white noise to drown out my family's snoring. Shower leaked water out and we did our best to have towels down to minimize any damage. Pool was cold during the 4 days we were there. Because of that the hot tubs were over used and needed more cleaning.
- 3/5
The food from the restaurant for room service was amazing The kids Mac and chesse wasn’t good no cheese mostly oiil and like a bread crumble or dry cheese texture in . No actually chesse the Mac and cheese The room was nice
- 4/5
I was comfortable. When we first got there. There was blood one out comforter. There was a lot of RVs parked in front of the building I think that belong to homeless people
- 4/5
Great resort in a perfect location. The sunsets were spectacular, the amenities were excellent, and the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend!
- 5/5
Selected this hotel due to its location, came down for the SD Beach & Bay Half Marathon Race. The property didn’t disappoint, location was great, next to the bay, wonderful pool, and great restaurants. The room itself was clean, staff was very friendly. Will def book this hotel when we come back for next years race!
- 5/5
The resort was beautiful and location was amazing
- 5/5
Rooms near the pool were appreciated. Coffee shop needs improvement with preparation. I feel there were so many people ordering the staff was flying through preparing orders which lead to coffee drinks that we couldn’t enjoy because they tasted so bad. Cleaning staff showed up very early all the days we were there so that was a bit annoying. Property is great though and because of that it’s our go-to resort.
- 5/5
Perfect stay for the San Diego Beach and Bay half marathon
- 5/5
Staff was very helpful and friendly. They went out of their way to help on multiple occasions throughout the week we stayed there. The room was a little outdated, but was clean! The waterfront villa has a spectacular view!
- 3/5
Areas for elevation: Slightly warmer hot tub. Parking situation clearly stating $47/night (currently) and no other alternatives.
- 5/5
We really enjoyed our stay at this property. Everything was extremely clean and the staff was very accommodating and friendly. The location is perfect to get to Mission Beach, Belmont Park and Old Town San Diego. The kids enjoyed the pool and the amenities, and I really enjoyed the gym. They had serviceable pelotons in there which was a bonus for me. My only complaint would be the beds were too stiff for me, but when I mentioned this to the staff, they added extra bedding and it made a big difference! We would definitely stay there again.
- 5/5
Stay was relaxing. Staffs are very friendly and helpful especially Angel who is very accommodating
- 4/5
Nice rooms, great poolside bar but the pool is cold and it’s not heated. Although the weather was great, we only got in the pool once because it was too cold.
- 5/5

- 5/5
Nice and clean. Easy. Thanks.
- 5/5
Location is excellent. It’s less than 20 minutes to pretty much anywhere we wanted to visit. Our room was in the tower and facing the resort. Room was clean and quiet. Bed was very comfy.

The property was welcoming to pets and the breakfast was fresh.
- 4/5
Very good
- 4/5
Great for a weekend getaway. Nice pool, great location, very family friendly. On the downside, the breakfast options were very okay and the days where you get breakfast credit are confusing and the staff won't bother clarifying beforehand.
- 3/5
Overall, the resort is beautiful. The pool, restaurants, and grounds are all great and well maintained. Staff is nice. There's a walking path and park close by. The room cleanliness was disappointing. Corners and cabinets were not well maintained, the air filter was in poor condition, and there was a noticeable unpleasant odor coming from the shower drain. The bedding was substandard and there were not a lot of guest amenities in the rooms. Not a fault of the resort, but the surrounding area has a significant homeless presence, and the property is located on the opposite side of the bay from the ocean.
- 3/5
All-Inclusive to Mexico is better. This resort is a nice way to step away from the crowds of tourists at the parks and surrounding areas. However, public furniture is dirty and overused. Prices are typical for California….2x the prices at other tourist destinations in the western states. The pool is nice, but too small. Hot tubs are crowded with kids under 13. Too many young families here. If you have teens find a different place. The water level at the bay is also low and sandy beach is dirty.
- 4/5
Stayed on the second floor of two floors. No elevator access where we stayed. Had to take our stroller up and down stairs every time we left. Pool restaurant and bar closed at 5pm. Pool is salt water and not heated. Beautiful resort and very well maintained. Staff were fantastic. Recommend for anyone with kids, San Diego Zoo and Sea World we’re about a $15 Lyft away. $45 Resort fee per day is ridiculous because it is taxed at 15%
- 5/5
Restaurant, coffee shop pool and gym were fabulous
- 5/5
Great experience here. Didn’t love the charge for early check in but overall great resort
- 4/5
Its a very clean facility. Every interaction with staff was professional and helpful and kind. Pillows on the bed were so flat and uncomfortable. Bring your own if you can. Food and Drinks especially were priced higher than street pricing.
- 5/5
The restaurant on site was delicious
- 3/5
There appears to be an issue with the plumbing—every time a toilet was flushed, it made a very loud noise that sounded like the whole toilet was falling through the floor. I was also overcharged for parking after checkout, despite advising the front desk that only one night should be billed. I’ve reached out by email and through Expedia and have not received any response.
- 4/5
Parking availability close to room was slim to none. Rooms were nice, property & staff was good.
- 4/5
We tried out three rooms: 220/222 and 307. All faced the court yard and bay and so the views were nice. The 200 series rooms had a musty odor that did not go away. They were a little dated and one of the beds had an old frame that squeaked. The 307 room was on second floor and was very nice. Updated and nice carpet and white, wood trim. All rooms were quiet. Did not hear much from the neighbors. The staff is amazing. Very kind, helpful and eager to please. The two on site restaurants are very good. And the prices, to me, seemed very reasonable. We loved the pool area. Plenty of seating and one can order food and beverages and they are brought to you. You can also rent a Cabana, which is nice. Overall, we really enjoyed this resort and would definitely recommend it. They just need to upgrade some of the older rooms and slap some paint on the exterior and it would be top notch!
- 5/5
everything is sooooo perfect!

When we checked in the room was not clean specially the bathroom was full of dirty poop
- 5/5
Clean room and property overall. Stuff was okay. They checked on you with text message once in a while which felt nice. Pool was nice. Location was great.

This resort was the absolute worst resort I have ver been to in my life. Right when we entered our room there was bloodstains all over the ground, meaning they didn’t mop. I asked what the standard was and she said they vacuum and mop. That’s false, our room was not vacuumed or mopped and the one they moved us into was the same thing, but I drove 9 hours from the Bay Area to come splurge on this hotel because we haven’t vacationed in a very long time so I said screw it let’s splurge on the resort because I wanted my girls to have a good time. It was horrible we stayed out the whole day and only used it for sleeping and when we checked out the pools and it was absolutely disgusting. Oh, when I complained the supervisor didn’t reach out, no one cared, not one comment.
- 4/5
Wonderful mission style architecture. Easy access to walking path . Very convenient . Old and dated. Mediocre pool . 1950 's style and sometimes feel as well . But not the charges about $ 500 per night . $ 8 water bottles, resort fees and taxes !
- 5/5
We love the resort! Although we wish the pool was heated.
- 5/5
Service was absolutely stellar!! We felt like special guests with the superb attention given to us. We are local and made this our first staycation in 27 years!!! We will definitely be back! Special shout out to Barrett and Christian for excellent service and wonderful food/drink pairing recommendations!
- 5/5
We had a great experience. Kids loved the pool, us adults loved the hot tubs. Came back to nice, clean rooms every day. Tons of things to do and great views with direct access to the bay. Would absolutely stay here again.
- 4/5
Poolside was nice but lack of maintenance of the pool good cause harm to swimmers
- 5/5
wish has shuttle servicesn At least connect with transportation
- 5/5
Beautiful property and easy to get around. It’s a great location and we loved being able to use the jet skis. The food and staff were exceptional. They went above and beyond. Nothing. It was great.
- 1/5
We paid for villa room but there is not really a difference with the studio room, hidden fees, air conditioning smell bad, property was nice but yeah overall we tagged it as "nit coming back"
- 5/5
Nice place and conveniently close to attractions and good restaurants.
- 4/5
Nice.
- 4/5
We loved the resort even though it’s a little older. Dinning was good but expensive. Housekeeping was great!
- 5/5
Beautiful scenic views right off the bay, fine outdoor dining enjoying breakfast right off the water. The whole ambience of the property is outstanding! N/A
- 3/5
property is clean, the gym, clubhouse, pool are very nice, close to the beach. However, staff is average, and for the price the rooms are average. Also you can hear your neighbors.
- 5/5
Right on the water
- 3/5
Nice family friendly resort. Outdoor pool and common areas really nice, and good for all ages.
- 5/5
Will definitely come back
- 5/5
Wonderful place to just stay and not go any where else nice small resort
- 5/5
They have si many different rooms i did not know about. Review all rooms 1st.
- 5/5
Clean room, Spa was nice
- 5/5
nice beach view, my daughter like to play on the beach. Location is good, convenient to go anywhere. Parking is quite expensive.

The spa was relaxing, they have activities for all ages.
- 2.5/5
It was very clean and quiet, loved the location Absolutely minimal amenities in the room I got, no toothbrush, no slippers, you basically get towels, soap/shampoos and toilet paper.
- 3/5
My stay at this hotel was just average. The hotel itself is pleasant, but nothing extraordinary. Upon arrival, I was charged $400, which included resort fees and parking. While this amount seemed excessive for a three-night stay, I suppose it’s what you get for a resort. The rooms were also ordinary, nothing to write home about. However, the housekeeping was satisfactory, and the pool area was charming.
- 5/5
Great location, better weather, even better staff. The amenities, pool beds & rentals were easy to reserve, the food was expensive but very good & the bungalows are breezy and cool. I will absolutely be coming back here for my next stay in San Diego
- 4/5
The resort is very nice and in a great location. My biggest complaint is the FREEZING pool and TINY hot tubs. No one wants to be in the pool because it’s too cold, and the hot tubs are over crowded. For such a high resort fee and high parking cost I would expect the pool to be heated. The pool service also closes too early. I honestly probably wouldn’t come back just for that reason alone.
- 5/5
Love that it's beachfront. Location is great as it is close to attractions. On site dining was great and had kids meal options. Will definitely return.
- 5/5
Ground are immaculately taken care of. Rooms are on point. Pool bar staff came in early to work on a busy weeked. Best part - my flight got delayed and they allowed me to stay pool side all day. That's above and beyond right there. I'll be back!
- 5/5
This place is sooo fun and, very nice and beautiful views
- 5/5
Great staff. Convenient location to Freeway access.
- 3/5
Our first room was gross. The staff quickly assigned us a new room which was better. Albeit still warn. the property itself is rather dirty and in desperate need of at least a power wash. Food is was ok but despite multiple food options it’s all from the same kitchen. Fortunately the staff everywhere throughout was very pleasant accommodating to just about every need which made our stay bearable. Pictures online dont quite match up to the reality. They do have a nice gift shop.
- 5/5
Mission area, mission park, resort was family friendly but nice for adults, too. Hot tub was nice but needed maintenance & cleaning & more heat.
- 1/5
Spent over 3k for two nights in grand view suite.. front desk was not friendly, welcoming or accommodating.. our room had pizza crusts in corners both upstairs and downstairs in the bi level suite.. the windows were dirty. The electricity in the main entertaining area the dining and living room went out twice during our birthday party celebration and we had to have maintenance come out… The bathroom was stopped up three times in the downstairs bathroom, which is the bathroom that the guests would use and never once did a manager or supervisor addressed these issues especially with spending over 3000 for just a two nights day, this is unacceptable
- 5/5
everything was good just didn’t like the attitude the guys gave me in the restaurant
- 5/5
Great family resort with good location. You're 10 minutes away from everything (old Town, little Italy, etc.). Parking outside the resort is always packed. The onsite parking is a bit high but you don't really have an option.
- 5/5
You can’t really ask for more. Water beaches exercise paths and outdoor gyms, right outside your door. Fire pit rooms are great, view is great. Perfect place to escape the snow in the winter
- 5/5
Great hotel, very clean and comfortable. Would recommend.
- 5/5
Everything was fantastic! The room was clean and the view of the bay was awesome!! The pool area was relaxing ! The drinks and food were delicious!! The staff was very knowledgeable and pleasant!! All in all it was very enjoyable!!
- 2/5
The room, bathroom in particular, was well worn making it look almost dirty. And, the beds were the most uncomfortable things I've ever stayed on. Truly, that was 3 of the worst nights of rest I've had in a long time.
- 4/5
The room was extremely clean
- 4/5
Great location for us. Helpful staff. Beautiful views.
- 1/5
Room and entire dwelling was dusty and poorly upkeeped. Sleep mattress and pillows were worn out, and caused severe neck and back pain as it lacks basic support and comfort. Management played Symantecs when my concerns were professionally and respectfully brought to their attention. Instead, shift blame, denial, deflect, and dismay all my concerns. Untrained front desk staff in terms with handling and processing my animal. Staff member asked me what medical conditions do I possess and to email her copies of my medical records. In addition, hotel charged me for parking although I possess a California state ADA DISABLED parking Placement Card.

Lovely resort!
- 5/5
Front desk staff Isabel was great and took care of us and we loved the room she upgraded us to and made our vacation a great experience!
- 5/5
Yes room was clean, service was superb; we will stay here again for certain..!

I stayed at this hotel two Octobers ago for an insurance industry conference and had a positive experience. Based on that, I returned this year with my family because of the convenient proximity to SeaWorld for our daughter’s first visit. Unfortunately, this stay was disappointing. The room’s air conditioning did not function. After a maintenance visit, I was told a hot-water valve had been turned off, and the room would cool, but nothing changed; the thermostat continued to indicate “fan” rather than “cool,” and the unit blew warm air regardless of the setting. I also received an alert showing our room was overcharged by $100, which I had to resolve at checkout. During the stay, an item went missing from our room. I filed a report and walked the property with security. The on-duty supervisor informed me that our nightly parking charges would be waived and that one night would be discounted, to be adjusted at checkout. However, a different manager at checkout declined to honor those adjustments. I received a text confirming my claim, but no further follow-up. Speaking with other guests at checkout, several reported similar HVAC issues and billing discrepancies. Given these problems and the lack of resolution, I cannot recommend this property at this time. I hope management addresses the air-conditioning and billing issues and improves follow-up, as the location is convenient and my prior stay was much better.
- 5/5
Staff was very friendly, rooms extremely clean, restaurant wonderful.
- 5/5
Room was great
- 3/5
The stay was ok but never did it say there would be 160 for parking and 100 a night for incidentals it had the amount and then the extras for a total of 1597 we will definitely not stay again . Room was not worth the price and found a black hair the first day . Last night the neighbors were so loud couldn’t sleep. Definitely not worth the money
- 5/5
Great view and staff was amazing.
- 3.5/5
Right on the bay, beautiful to walk around. Grounds seemed well maintained. The tile floors in the rooms, didn’t seem the cleanest.
- 4.5/5
Location, location, location! Grounds were beautiful! The food…excellent. We chose this from three we were thinking about for a quick anniversary trip! We picked the right one! The rooms were a bit underwhelming and even though “refreshed”, still seemed out-dated. Please put a regular coffee maker and extra garbage can in the rooms! The bed was comfortable!
- 5/5
Very clean and great amenities
- 5/5
The rooms were clean, the staff was great, the pickleball courts were a big hit with our family.
- 5/5
Great resort!!!!
- 5/5
Nothing is disliked.
- 5/5
Great room, great amenities, the resort was so nice.
- 5/5
This was a weekend trip with my significant other. We had a great time. The hotel was clean and comfortable.
- 5/5
The staff was great, service was excellent!
- 5/5
Great place for our family getaway! Loved the S’mores on the beach!
- 4/5
Location was great, the only reason I don’t give 5 stars is, the room need was not clean enough they were stains in the couch and on the rug, and room was a little smelly other then that place was great.
- 4/5
Yes
- 4/5
Very clean. The pool side bar is not open during “winter” time. Which was disappointing. Everyone was friendly and welcoming.
- 5/5
Loved the bay front room with the large grass area right out the door!
- 5/5
nice place. close to everything
- 5/5
We love this property!! This was our 2nd time staying. We booked for NYE, which although it was raining, we were still able to enjoy the jacuzzi. Check in was smooth, and you can’t beat the location. Still close to the liveliness of downtown, and old town, but quiet enough for a nice getaway. The bay view is gorgeous, and the christmas tree light up from Seaworld was a nice surprise. Definitely recommend this property. The only downfall being the $45/ night parking. We will be back in the summer for full usage!
- 2/5
Would not recommended good was not good and over priced.
- 5/5
Location; access to beach
- 3/5
I was told the pool was heated, it was not. Unable to cast to TV. IT was on vacation and no one on site could fix it. Engineering said lots of guests were having the same issue. The surprise 20% holiday surcharge plus the 6% surcharge in addition to the 20% tip was eye-popping shocking when the bill arrived for Christmas dinner. Essentially the bill was 50% over advertised. Otherwise it was a nice place to stay.
- 5/5
It was good
- 5/5
Place is super kid friendly, it was very festively decorated when we stayed mid December. Literally seconds from the beach. Beautiful resort. Everyone’s so nice.
- 5/5
Really cozy and clean room with great outdoor atmosphere, breakfast was amazing, short memorable stay. Will certainly come back.
- 1/5
Room was not accessible. I booked an accessible room. Staff was rude.
- 5/5
Staff and room
- 5/5
Room was super clean and updated, location up against the bay was perfect. We really enjoyed our stay and want to come back soon!
- 4/5
Our beds felt sandy the first night we stayed and had to have the sheets changed. The pool was freezing, I thought it was heated? But other than that everything was great, staff was very friendly and we loved our room location.
- 3/5
Parking fees and resort fees are a bit much for such place.
- 3/5
No breakfast va
- 5/5
Beautiful properly, friendly staff
- 3/5
The bay looked dirty and deserted, not at all like the pictures advertised
- 5/5
great stay! Food was great and my kids loved the pool and location
- 3/5
Beautiful property but hidden/added fees ruin the whole experience.
- 2/5
Room- dusty, vent returns are filthy. Pool was freezing, hot tub tiles broken
- 5/5
Very clean and friendly staff! Beautiful pool and great food!
- 5/5
Service good, hotel comfort fine, need more plug-ins near bed
- 5/5
Everything we needed for a quick weekend getaway.
- 3/5
Couldn’t used the pool or jacuzzi because the water wasn’t heated. Also I was charged extra for parking even though I asked specifically if it was part of the resort fee and the fact that there was free parking just in front of the facility. Gym was small and dark, breakfast wasn’t included. There are much better resorts, hotels and rentals across the ocean
- 5/5
The room was amazing. The restaurant service left a lot to be desired, even to the point of ignoring us and rudeness. Front desk and manager were friendly and kind, the rest of the service staff, not impressed. Lovely property, requests were honored. It is a pretty busy beach/boardwalk. We would have preferred more privacy and less action, but beachfront and close and pleasant. Park next door for parties and people had some. Interesting place to stay, recommend if you avoid restaurants and are ok with a lot of people walking on the boardwalk by the beach. Overall it was a pleasant stay. Dogs are welcomed so for us that was a major plus, room well appointed and nice.
- 4/5
A little outdated, beds very firm, remodeling so it’s luck if you get an updated room or an outdated one.
- 5/5
Great!
- 5/5
Clean and comfortable room. Great customer service.
- 5/5
Loved this place, make sure to put the do not disturb sign up tho.. nothing major but just to be safe.
- 2/5
Dog barked all night, shower had hair all over walls, floors dirty , ants near coffee machine and back patio door
- 4/5
Rooms not bad. Nice bathroom. Could do with a refresh outside. A few details wanting. Safe didn’t work and they didn’t fix it when asked. A big dirt scuff or burn on the sofa. Corner of the bathroom rusted and flaking. Nice location, pool and restaurant. Huge tv in the room nice balcony.

- 5/5
Ended up splurging on a nicer room. Definitely worth it. Lovely property. Beautiful room. Definitely coming back next time we are in town.
- 5/5
Clean room. Friendly staff. Great food at every restaurant. Crowded hot tubs pool was a bit chilly.
- 3/5
The place is run down, old, shower leaked puddle of water on floor.
- 4/5
Menue in dining room is very limited, almost all sea food. Facuility would be absoutly beautiful with a fresh coat of paint.
- 5/5
Great place. Great price. Great amenities and things to do. Easy access to everything. Great time!
- 5/5
The views were amazing
- 5/5
Great as always. Wonderful place to vacation with family.
- 5/5
Beautiful area
- 1/5
Everything was great. Just got charged 445 for one night. Expedia had it at 379
- 5/5
Very lovely resort the staff is amazing and friendly Barret at cove wood was very hospitable friendly and made our experience amazing definitely will be back
- 4/5
The property and staff were great. The room was great overall. There was some mold on the ac vent, but when i brought this to the attention of the front desk, they immediately addressed it and compensated me for the experience. The food at the bar and restaurant was delicious. I enjoyed the fish tacos and cauliflower appetizer. I would definitely return again one day. Heads up this is a family friendly resort so there could be a ton of children in the jacuzzi. Lol
- 5/5
.
- 5/5
It was nicee
- 4/5
Very nice property located right on the water (bay). The mattresses seemed like they haven't been changed or updated since the 90's, thin, lumpy and uncomfortable. For the price, the room itself was small and a bit older than expected, but then again, it was a waterfront property, so that's probably where the price comes from. The kids enjoyed the pool and it was clean and inviting.
- 4/5
Lobby was nice- pool was not super clean with toilet paper floating multiple days in a row nor was the room when we checked in.
- 3/5
The staff was helpful, the hotel was nice and clean. But I didn't like their policy regarding charging $15 per device for wifi access, and the $45 per day parking fee. These seemed excessive. But the location is good and it was nice to have the boat rental service right next to the hotel.
- 2/5
The front desk agents were really nice and personable. However… for what you pay, the property is extremely outdated! The common areas have definitely received their upgrades but the rooms, halls, bathrooms, furniture etc. are extremely outdated!! The rooms have a funny smell, and the bathrooms smell just like a public restroom at the beach. It was very clear that our room wasn’t cleaned thoroughly. Will not be back.
- 5/5
Clean room, nice coffee bar in room, nice peaceful outdoor sitting area The hotel also had a nice coffee shop in the main lobby and the pool area was very well kept. Everyone was very friendly and helpful too
- 3/5
Unfortunately not a great experience. The room lobby rugs were spotted with dark spots. Also, the family activities were never on time. The activities definitely need more organization. You never knew where the activities were taking place and never on the time scheduled.
- 4/5
This property is great fir families. Service was wonderful, and mission bay if your back yard.
- 3/5
Property felt dated, our foot was blk from the tile floors. Wish it was carpet vs tiles. Pretty pool and landscape. Rooms can use some updates and be cleaner.
- 5/5
Loved the view from our room. The bay was peaceful
- 3/5
There was a crumb on bathroom floor from the day we checked in until the day we left which led me to believe floor wasn’t cleaned. Carpet didn’t seem to be vacuumed. They tried to charge me for 4 in-room bottles of water @ $7 per bottle. I only drank one. Luckily, I caught their error on final bill.
- 3/5
I gave 3 stars for cleanliness because of the pool area. The room itself was very clean, comfortable and nicely sized. The pool area had a few rather gross situations going on which staff had to be alerted to by several people. The pool bathrooms had water flooding the floors which people from the pool were walking through. At first, it seemed like it might be from all of the pool goers wet foot traffic but we soon realized it was a toilet/ plumbing overflow as there was visible human waste all over the floor. A similar situation was being discussed by people sitting next to us at the kiddie pool area/ splash pad. The pool was crowded which we understood for a weekend in the summer, but they really should be more heavily staffed and attentive especially to handle human health/ safety issues. The "resort fee" is also annoying...and it doesn't include parking so you are getting hit with a surprise $80-90 per day extra charge upon check in. Just include it in the price of the room and stop being sneaky!
- 5/5
Bay view was beautiful and entertaining
- 5/5
The vibe was a good combination of relaxing and fun. The food at the resort was good and plenty of options for breakfast lunch and dinner. To get off the property for food or entertainment there are a lot of options less than 10 miles from the resort.
- 4/5
Mission Bay Resort. We enjoyed coffee shop, the walking path each morning, the fireworks from Sea World and the friendly wait staff in the pool area. The daily fees are a little expensive especially since there isn’t any amenities besides the pool. The hot tub is super small, but the large pool makes up for it. We enjoyed the restaurants and the food.
- 5/5
Nice family resort. Relaxing by the bay and fun things to do for families. Convenient location and super nice staff.
- 3/5
We have just returned from a trip to the
- 1/5
Dirty. Old hotel, they charge 45 p day parking 40 per day resort fee.
- 4/5
Lots of homeless in the park adjacent yo the property
- 5/5
On the upside: Beautiful property, spacious room, excellent proximity to the bay. On the down side: not enough food choices, noisy but it's a family place
- 5/5
Fantastic hotel. Great amenities , nice people awesome property. 5 star
- 5/5
I liked all the activities at the hotel and water fun
- 4/5
Great stay second time here. If your trying to explore SD this is the place to be in the middle of it all you can uber everywhere for like 20-30 bucks
- 5/5
A great venue for quality family time. The resort offers many activities and options for all family members
- 5/5
Wonderful location . Room 219 was a good choice too with a view
- 5/5
Isabel made my husband’s birthday very special. Thank you Isabel.
- 3/5
Need a adult only building and pool area. We were unable to use the pool due to the amount of kids and kids were running through the hotel corridors yelling and screaming for most of the night. We have 12 grandkids so we know how it is but when you pay over $500 a night for a couples weekend and not able to use the the amenities or sleep. When we checked in the guy warned us and apologized, lol
- 5/5
The property was great! Parking should be free
- 5/5
It was absolutely beautiful and peaceful. The property was stunning. The restaurants and bars were full service. The mushroom truffle flatbread with the Merlot, was. great afternoon snack.
- 5/5
We had a comfortable stay… I was supposed to get a roll away bed, but despite a few requests, it was never delivered. We made do anyway… VERY CLEAN. Pool area was great! Food was delicious…poolside service was great. Parking was expensive, but that is everywhere today. Room was spacious…We loved it!
- 5/5
Our family had a nice weekend stay celebrating our son’s birthday. Enjoyed the warm heated pool and hot tub with the family. It was nice taking a stroll on the beach at sunset. Relaxing and fun place for our family.
- 3/5
Beautiful property. Front desk staff was friendly. Food at Covewood was eh. Nothing special. Housekeeping was a little lazy. Just replaced towels didnt actually clean anything. Parking was at little steep at $45/night.
- 5/5
Amazing. Our new favorite vacation spot! You dont have to leave the resort, they have everything. Super family friendly, amazing pool and activities for kids. Restaurants, bars food were great. Also had a great view of the fireworks everynight from seaworld!
- 3/5
This was my first hotel in California and right by the San Diego airport. The room was clean but the price was not transparent. Expedia quoted me $589 and I ended up paying $756 after a $248 refundable deposit fee. I would’ve been happy to pay this if parking was cheaper and the location was a bit better. For two days, $400 a night right next to the airport is not reasonable.
- 5/5
Liked everything except the food. Only tried once. Didn’t want to try again since it was so expensive.
- 1/5
Terrible resort
- 4/5
The lobby where the elevators are to go up wasn’t clean and stains all over . The room wasnt “CLEAN” properly first day when we checked in .
- 4/5
Good place to stay though If your looking for for more adults only not the place.
- 5/5
Very welcoming and fun resort
- 5/5
Everything we ate here was delicious. Our favorites were the chicken tenders, poke tostadas, and the clam chowder. Yummm.
- 5/5
This was a beautiful resort and the staff was wonderful.
- 5/5
Just gorgeous
- 4/5
Wasn't as clean as last couple of years.
- 5/5
The staff was friendly and very helpful. They went out of their way to make you feel at home.
- 1/5
I paid for this stay with Expedia and the hotel still charged me for the stay which impacted my personal account
- 5/5
This property was absolutely beautiful. The grounds were very well maintained and the amenities were awesome. The pool area had 2 options for food and drinks and there were activity rentals right on the boardwalk. Rooms were clean and bright and we loved the patio area.
- 2/5
This place has seen better days. The property is run down with peeling plaster on walls and huge stains on carpet. We got there and saw there were no pools chairs empty and the pool was so full it was impossible to relax or enjoy it. Lots of loud drunk people. We left after the first night.
- 5/5
We had a great stay and very pleasant vacation at Mission Bay Resort. Confortable and nice.
- 5/5
Great service and very clean facility.
- 5/5
Great time at the pool. Drinks and food were good.
- 5/5
Great experience
- 5/5
Great beach access!
- 4/5
Had a great times family loved it.
- 3/5
Walking to your room if it has an outdoor door at night alone is very scary, it's dark and unsettling.
- 5/5
Very clean! Excellent pool! Quiet and safe! Amazing spa!
- 5/5
Very clean and quiet, had a great view and nice experience.
- 5/5
Like the property alot wish the parking was included
- 2/5
The place is old the service was horrible
- 3/5
I’ve stayed here countless times b/c my son goes to USD. I live the property and the rooms, but on this last visit we switched rooms because the first room had a view of the parking lot. The second room had a better view but smelled like mildew. It seems like the propert is getting a bit run down.
- 5/5
Great stay!
- 1/5
False advertisement of rooms. The rooms were old and outdated. The patio was closed.
- 5/5
Lovely outdoor patio with view of the garden area
- 5/5
Great location! Our room was perfectly set on the Bayside with a large grass area in front of us. We are also a short distance to the Pool, which was great for the kids. Would definitely recommend for someone in the future.
- 4/5
Beautiful resort and plenty for adults. Proximity to everything was great. We had a kid with us to more kid friendly food options would have been great! Otherwise we will be back!
- 4/5
Good for kids
- 3/5
Good location. Outdated and poorly maintained. Rude staff.
- 4/5
Loved the proximity to the water. The property is large, open and beautiful. Very safe, we had bikes with us and they even let us know we had left unsecured and they could hold up front for us. Most of the staff were amazing, the bartenders were not as welcoming or friendly.
- 3/5
It’s just okay our room was meant to have a view and its view was the car park and it feels very corporate. The restaurant is good but expensive the gift shop and the staff are very nice but no service.
- 4/5
Good stay. Family friendly.
- 1/5
I was very unhappy with this place. We got there a little early before check in. We asked if it was possible to get our room early they said they would charge me!!!!! What they just told me my room was ready!!! Never have I had a place say they would charge to check in early. Had breakfast on site, cream for my coffee curdled!! Twice!! They gave us the wrong room # and wrong key!! Thank god!! Didn’t want to walk in on anyone!! Homeless surrounded the resort. Very, very , very disappointed in this place. I will never stay there again. I did not enjoy my stay there at all. Pictures are deceiving in regards to the surrounding area.
- 2/5
Staff needs lots of training of what it means to work in hospitality business.
- 4/5
We booked a staycation as we live in SD, but wanted to stay near the water for a few days. The resort was fine, room clean. The pool was a bit overcrowded with kids that we dis not spend more than 1 hr there the whole 3 days. We left the resort for dinner each night as there were not many options. The one time we ate at the resort we spent $70 for an overcooked burger and medium sized pizza.
- 5/5
This was our 4th time spending 4th of July weekend here and everything went really well. Got to the property early and was given a key to enjoy the pool while we waited for our room to be ready. Room was clean. Had a cabana reserved for Saturday and Clara was awesome, made sure everything went smoothly with that. Activities like popcorn, temporary tattoos, watermelon eating contest were fun (only thing was yoga instructor being a little late one day then setting up in a corner as if she didn't want anyone to show up) and pool DJ Dan Diego was awesome! Daniel and Jonathan were our pool servers and they were good and efficient for serving so many people. Our body wash needed a refill and the staff refilled our coffee pods with decaf instead of regular but those are minor complaints. Firewood came with our room and it was brought quickly when we called for it. Covewood for breakfast and dinner.. tasty both times (only thing to inform you ahead of time is that the food takes a while so don't come starving and bring something extra to keep your little ones entertained!) I especially loved the caramel croissant bread pudding dessert! Lastly, the only thing I would change are the guests who let their kids act obnoxiously at the pool (as if it's not a shared public space) but that's not to any fault of the resort (well, the staff could be a little more firm: no dogs in pool area, if no guests in pool area then no exceptions, signage with no horseplay/be respectful to other guests).
- 5/5
Such a wonderful place to take the kids! We’re having such a great time! So love this place!
- 5/5
Super friendly accomodating staff every where you go. Lovely facility in a lovely location.
- 4/5
Great location and service mostly great
- 3/5
The property is situated in a nice location, however it is showing its age. All staff that I interacted with were very courteous and went out of their way. My one big negative is the Covewood Restaurants food was terrible. I did give my feedback to the server and manager and they were great (I did not ask for compensation). I ate both dinner and breakfast and it was pretty bad so did not eat on the property after that.
- 5/5
Comfortable Resort , Good Service
- 4/5
Everything seems ok. Not having elevators isn’t convenient. Room is a bit far away to walk to. Restaurants has limit items on food.
- 5/5
Rooms were a bit tired as they are old. Food choices were ok, but would have appreciated more variety.
- 4/5
Staff and maintenance were amazing. Room was big and for the most part comfortable. One (and only issue) was that the pull out bed would not close. Had to have have maintenance come everyday to close… found out later that this was a known issue (which frustrated me even more). In the end, the director made amends and issued an apology and reversed a sufficient amount of charges. We would definitely give this place another try.
- 4/5
Room service was stellar, quick to deliver, and portion sizes were incredible. Definitely got your money worth. The onsite restaurant and food is good with a nice variety. Even the kids PB and J waa fancy. The "beach" was clean and easy access. There are several nice parks walking distance. There are also firepits you can use. Pool area was fun with live music, food delivery, and giant pool with two hot tubs. House keeping was good and we didn't wait long for requests like more towels. Bed was comfortable and room was clean. Cons (very few) Our room had a strange smell and it wasnt pleasant. we just left the back door open and problem solved. Pool was clear but dirty due to all the people and kids with even some trash floating. Would have been nice if they cleaned it throughout the day. Hot tubs got really gross as they were so packed full of people.
