Reviews
The hotel reviews are mixed, with guests praising the cleanliness, comfort, and convenience of the location, as well as the friendly and helpful staff. However, some guests have complained about the lack of cleanliness, maintenance issues, and poor customer service. Additionally, some guests have expressed dissatisfaction with the breakfast options and the extra fees for parking and early check-in.
- Clean and comfortable rooms
- Convenient location with plenty of dining options within walking distance
- Lack of cleanliness and maintenance issues
- Poor customer service and unfriendly staff

The check in process was quick, the room was clean, the local community has a lot of stores and restaurants. The breakfast was good and the kitchen staff awesome. The only negative that I have was that housekeeping left some laundry bins in plain sight for lost of the day…nobody wants to see that.
- 5/5
Tucked away, this property had everything. And nice added touches to a suite with a kitchen. Although I didn't need all the extras, they were there. I felt safe, enjoyed the pool (warm), and the staff were professional and courteous. I will stay again. Thank you.

Mixed review here. Roberto the hotel manager was very hospitable and welcoming. Our house had a bursted pipe and we were displaced for a few weeks. Roberto gave me a great set rate and was very helpful. Property is clean, breakfast was a great perk. Free laundry was excellent too. The downfall of this review is the maniac front desk associate Edward. Knowing the courtesy Roberto had given me, this guy treated me and my family like peasants. I extended my stay and got home late from work (10pm). Going off my deal with Roberto, i had planned on coming down the next day and squaring up my balance. Roberto, being on vacation, now lies Edward. This guy called my hotel room 10x, making my wife, 11yr old child, and my 3 pets uncomfortable. Then when i get back he tells me i need to clear up my balance right this second or i have to leave. Completely condescending (even after Roberto had a talk with him on how hes supposed to treat us “long term stay”). Long story short, at 11:00pm, i packed up all of my belongings, displaced my entire family elsewhere while he locks himself in the office, completely ignoring all the numerous guests that tried to ask for help. Edward made this review trash and should NEVER be allowed to be a brand ambassador to an otherwise great property. Edward should cleanse his soul at the nearest confessional.

The Hotel was nice but the bed and couch were very uncomfortable and the bathtub & shower were small. The breakfast was decent but not great. Probably won't book at any Sonrstas again.

Property was very clean. Receptionist was very unwelcoming. Felt that her communication could have been a lot better, especially when it came to speaking to me about the parking charges and other charges.

The room was reeally nice Breakfast was too far away and staff kept opening our doors

Hotel is beautifully kept and clean. It is conveniently located next to many dining options and a gas station. Rooms are very nice. The morning breakfast was probably one of my favorite amongst the many hotels I’ve stayed at, I have never seen white rice, seaweed and eggs for breakfast. (There were also many other breakfast options) This was a pleasant surprise that I enjoyed each morning.

I DID mention to the staff before we checked out that the shower curtain in our bathroom -- where the tub was -- was ripped up in a few places. Where the grommets were, the curtain was ripped in three places. Now, normally I would give a room/suite's bathroom like this a 4 out of 10, but I didn't. . . simply because the housekeeping staff may have overlooked this tattered and torn shower curtain that day!, and maybe they didn't get a chance to replace it when we got this room. I don't know. . . maybe they forgot? OR they genuinely left the torn curtain precisely so that a hotel guest such as myself would point this anomaly out and get this rectified as soon as possible. Either way, the torn up shower curtain was NOT a good look for Sonesta ES
- 4/5
Our suite was very easy to get to, on the onset. I especially liked that our room was quiet and fairly spacious. The water pressure in our bathroom -- the one with the tub -- was great! Also, the suite was quite clelian. I DID mention to the staff before we checked out that the shower curtain in our bathroom -- where the tub was -- was ripped up in a few places. - staff were very attentive and helpful - room had complete amenities--even dishwashing soap and sponge for us to use - hotel is in a quiet area with dining places, shops & cafes within walking distance - breakfast was a small, simple spread although tasty. - the bedding on my side of the bed seemed to smell rancid... like someone who used body oil lay there the night before I did. my husband's side of the bed, meanwhile, smelled ok - lighting was ambient, could have benefitted from more lighting for packing at night, tho it wasn't really too bad

I would highly recommend this Hotel. Now, we have a go to hotel when we visit San Diego. The hotel was located in a small shopping center- gas stations just right by the area, dining and shopping centers like tj maxx- marshalls and many more! I love the Hotel bonus is the good location. The staffs were great too!! Special mention to Ms Maria- frond desk or manager I guess- she was so sweet accommodating and she made sure our stay will be a good one.
- 5/5
The sofa bed was rough. The spring mattress was uncomfortable and the sheets were missing when we arrived. Breakfast appliances were out of order. Waffle machine. Other than that, it was nice. Would return to this site.
- 5/5
Sonesta ES suites are amazing. I always enjoy the bedrooms set aside from the living room room and the personal question which is always a plus when you have a big family. There was an unfortunate moment with the toilet leaking, but as soon as we shared the issue with the staff at Carmel Mountain, they quickly responded and had maintenance come up to fix it
- 5/5
Was surprised that the unit was basically a one bedroom condo. would stay again
- 1/5
Room wasn’t clean and I never got the room I requested and paid for.
- 2/5
Breakfast was not good—pancakes were gluey, prefab eggs unappetizing. Jacuzzi needs maintenance to filter out heavy foam buildup. Room entrance was very dark and unnerving. Spoke with General Manager who was very responsive and said they’re undergoing much-needed renovations.
- 4/5
I’ve stayed at this location before and everything was spotless! I was very impressed then that I decided to book with them again on my next visit. But not sure if I’ll be staying there again.
- 1.5/5
Very basic.Nothing to write home about. My son used the pullout bed in the sofa. The bedding was not on the SOILED mattress. When he alerted the staff aboiut the lack of bedding they came to his room and handed him the bedding and departed. My son and wife were left to making the bed themselves...
- 4/5
Provides the necessities, good price for what you get. The AC was turned off and wouldn’t really cool so the room stayed fairly warm during the whole stay, overall had a strange smell as well as inside the fridge. Fridge was not turned on so I had to wait until it cooled to place my food in
- 3/5
The bed was comfortable and clean, and the bathroom was adequate. The room included a small kitchen with a large refrigerator, which was convenient, but unlike many other hotels, no complimentary bottled water was provided. Breakfast was very basic and only served from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m., which I nearly missed since I was on vacation rather than a business trip. I booked the room through Expedia and wasn’t aware that the hotel charges for parking. Fortunately, we only stayed one night. Overall, I would rate this stay three stars and would likely choose a different hotel on my next visit to San Diego.
- 4/5
The room was nice. Everything was nice. The staff was friendly. But this was a major disappointment. I wish we could’ve been compensated somehow or at least moved to a different room. It’s a good thing we only had to stay just that one night.

Small hot tub but got the job done. Room was clean and very comfortable. Love the bed and cozy decor.
- 4/5
Screen door to private balcony area was intentionally cut/torn near the lock/handle (showed evidence of a previous break-in attempt). Other than that, our stay was pleasant.
- 5/5
My family enjoyed are stay. We were comfortable. We liked the different breakfast options each day. The pool could have been warmer, but the jacuzzi was great.
- 5/5
Clean safe area, easy to come and go. Breakfast wasn’t that great
- 5/5
Everything was great about our stay except the sofa bed had trash and the mattress was stained. Maintenance came to check it out and tried finding an extra mattress to switch it out but they were unable to. The property ended up making some price changes due to the inconvenience. The room was nice and great for the days we needed it. Complimentary breakfast was offered and the location was fantastic!

Upon arriving, the lady at the front desk was not very welcoming and rude. I asked if early check in was possible and she gave me such an attitude. A simple no early check in would have been fine without the attitude. The vent light above the stove in the kitchen wasn’t working. I wanted to leave it on in case any of us needed light to go use the bathroom during the night. The vent from the portable AC to the window kept falling off so it kept leaving the window slightly open and since we were in a room with lots of traffic passing by, I was awaken by the garbage truck early in the morning. When my family and I went to get breakfast, I felt like the lady working the breakfast station was keeping a close eye on us and felt the need to clean up right after every scoop of food I got. I felt no space from her.

The silver bed mattress should’ve been thrown away. Moved room same situation. Old patio furniture, very beat. No king bed options
- 4.5/5
Great location! There are restaurants and shopping stores nearby. Location was quiet and clean. It was a little difficult getting into our room. We really needed to push down hard to get the door open. Maybe just few new locks to replace the old ones would help fix that, otherwise that’s all.
- 3/5
Having two rooms with an attached bathroom for a husband, wife, child, and grandpa was an amazing find. The apartment was spacious, clean, and everything was perfectly in place. Having a fully loaded kitchen with a stove, microwave, and a full-size fridge was a pleasant surprise. It was also within walking distance of several restaurants and conveniently located next to a gas station and a freeway exit. Breakfast was decent and average. 1. No one picked up the phone at night. I called a night before to get info... no answer... when trying to find the main office I called again in the evening around 6pm and no one picks up... when I asked the guy, why doesn't he pick up. He said we are short staffed... even thought I just saw him sitting and browsing his cell phone when I arrived. 2. I was also not informed by the night staff that parking would be charged. When I asked about the $100 deposit, I was told it would be fully refunded. The next day at checkout, I was surprised to learn that $10 would be deducted for parking.
- 5/5
Everything was excellent
- 2/5
From the moment we arrived, this did not feel like an Embassy Suites. The lobby looked rundown, and both check-in staff we encountered were rude and distracted. The elevator carpet was filthy, which made us worry about cleanliness. The room was only okay and clearly needed a deep clean. The bed was uncomfortable, and the shower pressure was extremely weak. We would not stay here again and will reconsider booking with this hotel brand in the future.
- 4/5
This hotel was a lot better than I expected. Nice and clean. Served our purpose.
- 3.5/5
Rooms had a lot of spiders and insects It was very clean

The space and distribution and the privacy

The breakfast menu had options but the pancake maker was out of service for several days while we were there. The food quality also wasn't great (floppy bacon, half-warmed sausage). The employees were very kind in the breakfast area, however. The man at the front desk seemed miserable to be there. He didn't tell us about any amenities - pool, breakfast times, wifi, etc. Just where the building area was where we were staying. We also had to go ask for towels, bedsheets and blankets because they were "short on room service." Our family enjoyed the pool and hot tub, but generally, I'm not sure we would go back.
- 5/5
Nice room, and staff, and great location.
- 3/5
The staff as not at the front desk when I checked out. And the bathrooms need to be remodeled
- 3/5
There was a worker in my room at 7pm at night. The room smelled like wet dog and chemicals. The bathroom tiles were rugged and bed was uncomfortable. Daily pay for parking at the facility. overnight associate rarely present.
- 5/5
Staff were friendly and the breakfast was always fully stocked.
- 4/5
Loved the space that the two bedroom suite provided. Breakfast was a little disappointing. Had a leak from our exterior window and we’re not offered a new room. They just put towels down. Overall we had a good stay and would likely return because the location and space were great for us.
- 3/5
The breakfast was the best feature. Staff very unattentive. Left a request form for missing room items, never received them. Jacuzzi was on, but the water was very low so it was just a tub of tepid water.
- 4/5
Upon check in, the staff provided runners with a nice gift bag. Waters, hydration packs, etc. Very much appreciated. The room was clean and spacious. The HVAC worked wonderfully and the bed was comfortable. Allowing a nice sleep before the race.
- 5/5
Second time coming back and look forward to every other time in the future! Love this place and the staff!
- 5/5
Excellent stay. 10/10
- 5/5
Very clean, friendly front office staff, comfortable bed and great kitchen. Highway can be a bit noisy at times but not terrible. Would definitely stay again.
- 3/5
Not awful for a temp stay.
- 2/5
The room was ok - dated & smelled musty. The phone also did not work when I needed to call the front desk with another issue. The breakfast was nice & the woman working this morning smiled when I checked out. I will never stay at a Sonesta again

I had a two reservations with a combined stay from Tuesday -Sunday . Our shower was broken abs was repaired within 24 hours . We discovered that our room would not be cleaned unless we had a 7 day booking . This is unsanitary as some of the towels were yellow. When asked for new sheets and towels , we were told to come to office to get them . This level of service or lack there of is poor and obvious attempt to sock up money and cut corners by making the guests deal with lack of cleaning service and staffing . I will no longer stay at any sonesta if these are your policies . My company will cease to use you as well . I run 2 organizations and I will not subject my staff to this hotels “dirty” tactics .
- 4/5
The room is roomy and well laid out with all the conveniences for a long stay such as a refrigerator amd dishwasher. The outdoor facilities are very nice and make it easy to enjoy the beautiful weather. The carpet is old and a but dirty. The trash in our room was not emptied from the guest before us and housekeeping only cones once a week.
- 3/5
Maria is great but we should have been told the 2 bedroom suite booked did not have a working bathtub faucet/clogged drain - this meant our kids could not stay with us.
- 3/5
Strong odor in the room. Even when we arrived in the room the windows were open and there was still a strong odor in the room. Mattress dirty. Breakfast taste wasn’t great.

Kids Travel ball team was at the pool screaming until 10pm. Front desk did nothing. Saturday 7am 20 plus kids running down halls and parents talking loud and laughing outside near pool area. Parking was $20 but it’s a public lot where restaurant and bar patrons use. Extremely loud visit!!
- 4/5
Very comfortable, convenient to lots of good food in walking distance, 30 minutes to most major SD attractions. Friendly and helpful front desk. Love the full kitchen in the suite. No room cleaning (1x per week) and had to get supplies-towels etc at front desk. Not a big deal, but miss the service of being done and put in the room. Would definitely stay here again and recommend it

Good location near restaurants, stores and close freeway access, room was clean and nice with small kitchen and living room, outdoor property was ok with access to rooms from outside which was ok but there were large bags of dirty laundry sitting outside rooms for a full day and continental breakfast wasn’t great, pancakes machine broken with limited hours being served, front desk staff ok

Our room was spacious, well stocked and having an ice maker in the refrigerator was a bonus. The separate seating area was great as well as having a tv there, as well as one in the bedroom.

Ok so when I checked in I was not informed at all that I would be paying $10 a day to park my car at the hotel that I’ve paid for and was staying at for 3 nights until I checked out of my room. My room smelled so bad like stale cigarette smoke to the point I had to buy air freshener the night I arrived and it also gave me a headache. The building that I stayed in building 8 was extremely dirty around the outside and the elevator area was really bad….. I was there alone and definitely didn’t feel safe but good thing I have protection. I have requested a refund of my $30 but it has been crickets from the property.

Convenient location and nice staffs
- 5/5
We stayed for 7 days and 6 nights, and overall had a wonderful experience. We originally booked one room, but upon arrival, we decided to upgrade to two rooms so our family could stay more comfortably. The rooms were cozy, and the kitchen, although small, had everything we needed to prepare our own meals. The staff was very friendly and helpful at all times, but I want to highlight the exceptional service we received from Joselyn, who assisted us from check-in to check-out. She always greeted us with a warm smile and made us feel truly welcome. Breakfast was included, and although the dining area is small, it flows very well and never felt crowded. I highly recommend this hotel for families looking for a quiet and comfortable place to stay.

Easy check in, spacious suite, all the necessities in room. Great area around with dining options.
- 5/5
Family friendly with lots of food options within walking distance. Loved the kitchenette n full refrigerator.
- 5/5
Everything here is always great. This time I was given a special needs room, which is perfect for those in need, but I didn’t like the layout of the rooms or the bathroom. But no big deal, I don’t want to sound petty. Perhaps there were no other rooms available.😊
- 2/5
No room service. We were there for 1 full week - weekly means 1x per week. Area around the room was dirty. Spills, cigarette butts, trash.
- 5/5
Clean room. Love the separate bedroom with door.
- 5/5
Friendly staff. Clean room. Convenient parking.
- 5/5
Checkin was easy. Staff was friendly and helpful with my questions and concerns. Pet friendly
- 3/5
The hotel was basic and very weathered. Mold in the bathroom around the shower and sink. Carpets worn and generally felt outdated. We actually checked out a day early due to no internet. Unfortunately, when working remotely, we really needed to stay connected. We were located in the #6 building, corner top floor, queen suite room. Breakfast was included and not bad, grounds and gardens were well kept. Pool area does not look like the photos. Breakfast staff friendly, front desk staff cordial, great location.

This was my second stay at Sonesta due to the great location in terms of shopping, and dining. However, I won’t be returning due to the poor service and rude front desk attendant at our check in.
- 3/5
It was okay. Our room had a portable air conditioner that didn’t cool off the bedroom.
- 5/5
I really enjoyed my stay it felt more of a home far away from home. The staff was very friendly and helpful
- 1/5
I booked 2 nights because my dog was having surgery in the area. The room was dirty. Fingerprints on the walls and doors. Bathroom had hair and full of dirt and dust. Pillow had yellow stains. I asked to be switch to a different room. The front desk lady said she would call me back. She never did so I checked out that afternoon and was still charged for one of the night. The property itself was also dirt. Bags of dirty linen sheets and towels piled outside. Dog poop around the outdoor walk ways. DO NOT STAY HERE!
- 5/5
Stayed here with my family. Room was spacious and clean. Breakfast was nice and there’s lots of shopping and dining nearby that are walkable.
- 4/5
I really loved that it was a mini suite! A full kitchen, living room and separate bedroom plus a balcony! The only negative was the breakfast. First it’s too short, 6:30-8:30 is not enough time. Also, they were out of items which shouldn’t happen if you are only open 2 hours? All in all a good stay and I would stay there again, thank you!

Noisy thin walls - sounded like hookers next door with lots of in and out traffic and the door opening and closing all night. WiFi not working nor repaired thus far.
- 5/5
I have stayed here many times. I like how clean it always is and the staff is very helpful.
- 3/5
This is a bare minimum property that could be better with a little bit of effort. The room options are good, the kitchenette is a great thing to have when you’re with kids and everything is clean and tidy. The beds are even comfy. All the basics are there. But There’s a lot of construction going on and it’s noisy with very little regard for the timing of the day. Also, we needed bedding for the pullout couch and we got it but we told sorry no pillows but the most annoying thing was on an 85° temperature day in July. We were looking forward to jumping in the pool only to learn that the pool and whirlpool were closed. That was information that would’ve been helpful to know before booking.
- 4/5
It looked like the property was undergoing some upgrades. But general cleanliness was not being done around the grounds. Room was nice and clean. Shower had issues draining.

Super nice staff!

The gentleman that checked us in was so busy but kind and attentive. The property offered tennis, pickleball, basketball, ping pong & a pool!! I was impressed with the entire hotel's cleanliness & location to everything.

Big a spacious rooms!

Well maintained with friendly staff. Great location with easy access & lot of eateries & shopping places around.

best
- 4/5
It was accessible and conveniently located ro things that we were doing on our trip. With the small kitchenette and close grocery shopping options near by it saved us on dining out.
- 4/5
Parking spots are tight/ compact for larger vehicles. Wish the breakfast options were much better.

There was no working central air in my unit, there was a portable unit in the living room portion of the suite with no cool airflow in the bedroom, I had to go buy a fan for it to even be bearable. The trash was never taken out!! The seals around the door was so warn down I could see light around the front door. There were cobwebs and dust bunnies on the vents and ceiling. I have stayed at over a dozen hotels in the last year and this was by far the worst! Would never recommend it to anyone nor will I stay again

Thought this would be a great hotel for my family to stay on their trip. Upon checking in on the first night, we noticed bed bugs on the pull out sofa bed. The manager was accommodating and told us he would move us to a different room. That room wasn’t available until the next morning and we had to pack up everything and put it in our car for the day. That night around 10pm we get back to our hotel to check into our new room. There were bed bugs also in that room. There was no manager on duty and Cole who was working the front desk was extremely rude and unprofessional with handling the situation. We left and found a new hotel that night. I let the manager know that he has bed bugs in these rooms. They supposedly sent EcoLab out to the rooms and they did not find anything in their reports. I have posted pictures showing there are in fact bed bugs. We will not be staying here again.

The outside of the building and parking lot need to be cleaned. The sideways and stairs have a lot of drinking spills and stains. The elevator floor's old carpet needs to be replaced. Most of the time, the inside of the room was in good condition and comfortable. Significant areas are closer to gas stations and shopping centers. I did enjoy staying.
- 5/5
Clean and they offered a nice breakfast.
- 5/5
The hotel was affordable breakfast was great but they didn’t clean the room in my three night stay or even ask if we need the room to be cleaned.
- 3/5
Not bad. However staff was a bit suspect. This hotel does not provide housekeeping services. However on multiple occasions housekeeping came into my room unannounced without any intentions to clean. The room i stayed in was worn..bedroom door was hanging off the hinges, outlets in kitchen did not work and the couch pillows looked like someone took a knife to it. Very close to shopping, eateries and such. Complex overall was nice and neighborhood seemed safer than some other areas in SD.
- 5/5
The suits are well kept and comfortable, we had everything we needed for a nice stay. Safe area near several shops and malls. Not far from the beach, like 20 min drive. I will definitely come back.
- 3/5
pullout beds of couches being really uncomfortable and getting switched. Also, there should have been room cleaning and pool was small.
- 5/5
Love it, place is beautiful!
- 2/5
On a positive note: Front desk staff are helpful and there is a wonderful woman in charge of AM breakfast.
- 5/5
Spacious. Great breakfast options. Clean.
- 5/5
I enjoyed the full kitchen and seperate kitchen.

Nice stay
- 5/5
Stayed for two nights it was easy access to both room and many dining options. Although when I arrived some of the pots were still kind of dirty.
- 3/5
On top of that, when I checked in, there were crumbs on the kitchen table. It wasn’t a huge issue for me, but it didn't look good and could suggest a lack of proper cleanliness.
- 5/5
The hotel was located at a nice neighborhood. The staff was great and nice

Overall great stay. The breakfast was one of the best I've had!
- 4/5
Room was clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. Good value for the price. We would stay again.
- 5/5
And the breakfast is different every day, and pretty good!
- 5/5
Everything was really nice! Breakfast was great. I would recommend staying here.
- 5/5
I enjoyed the room and it was perfect for our family of 6. The beds were extra comfortable. The free breakfast was good. The pool was heated, which was awesome for my kids. Only bad things were, that there was no extra linens or pillows in the room and the phone wasnt working to call the front desk but they were able to provide linens after i went down to the front desk. The fridge was also not plugged in and we couldnt get the cord to plug it in. Other than that i thought it was a great hotel and would stay again.
- 5/5
The staff was very kind, accommodating and friendly. The location was perfect and within walking distance to a variety of stores and restaurants.
- 5/5
Excellent
- 3/5
Very nice manager who made sure I could find parking and the room. Room had lots of blonde hair stuck to sink and floor, and oily finger prints all over utensils and bowls in kitchen. Wouldn’t stay again due to that
- 5/5
Good location with many dining and shopping options. Great quality for an affordable price!
- 4/5
We stayed in the room with two bedrooms and a sofa bed in the living room. We enjoyed the space we had. Also the food options around the hotel. The comfort of the beds was good. We would definitely consider going back when we go to San Diego.

So when I called the first two times I asked him for a first floor room because of our dogs. We did not get that so they had to look for a room for us. Then when they found one we got into the room, the room was somewhat clean. There was things in the microwave and there was things left over in the drawers. This room was not very cleaned at all. They did offer us another room, but my son who has autism was already relaxing and laying down. So we just stayed in the room. But we did have room service come to the room and clean it. But I still felt like that room that we stayed in was not very clean. Plus that when we took a shower in the bathtub the tub just started tub, with water because the drain was not draining fast enough. I used to be a manager for a hotel for housekeeping. I really think that the managers need to look into all the rooms after the housekeeping is done cleaning the room. Because I feel like sometimes they are not doing their jobs. Because this is the second time we stayed at a hotel like this, and it was the same way. Again thank you very much. I don’t think we will be staying at this hotel ever again.

Convenience
- 4/5
I was surprised at how convenient the location was. Close to restaurants, shopping and gas stations. The only downsize is that there are no elevators.
- 5/5
Cuando te hospedas por varios dias, no van a limpiar y reponer toallas todos los dias como lo hacian antes.
- 5/5
The stay was amazing. We came with our two year old and practically had the pool and basketball court area to ourselves every time we went. Our room was clean, the only thing is housekeeping is once a week so if you need towels or toiletries you need to go to the front desk. The breakfast was yummy and changed somewhat daily. The staff was helpful and friendly. Do keep in mind parking will have a $10 payment a night, I wasn’t expecting it since we paid for the stay. Overall it was a great experience.
- 5/5
Great space like it!
- 5/5
This property was very clean, convenient and safe. The staff was very friendly. The breakfast was excellent. Will stay here again. Felt very comfy staying here for ten days,
- 2/5
The outside of the property was dirty. Pool area was worse than picture. Didn't clean or service rooms daily- only once every 7 days. Had to go get more coffee pods from office every day.
- 4/5
Feel unsafe because room locate outside of the building. The property feel like a motel.
- 2/5
Hope Management team/owner take these comments into consideration.
- 4/5
But aside from all the critical points I mentioned, we did have a great time as the hotel was close to alot of awesome stores, restaurants and the coronado beaches (about 15 min)! Plus the breakfast was a huge highlight and changed per day. So if you are looking for a good place to stay for the price, this is a great option just dont be adraid to communcicate if you need something! -The Malones take San Diego
- 5/5
I like that it felt safe and home-like. But I did not like how some areas of the room felt a bit dirty or not cleaned- our kitchen trashcan was full when we first walked in

Consistency, good

It’s very conveniently located to both restaurants and shops. Property was clean and quiet. Parking easy.

I really enjoyed my stay here. The staff was very friendly and my room exceeded expectations.

We drove all the way from Northern California. 8 hours or so on the road. We got there at 5:30pm. I went to checked in and was told that unfortunately, the room is not ready yet. The guy at the front desk said it will be ready in 20 minutes. I was too tired and said OK, that's fine. I asked where the room is and we can just wait outside. The guy at the front desk named Benjie told me ok, just don't go in yet because the person cleaning might be surprised. I said ok and he told me that he will call when it's ready. We were in the car for about an hour. It's almost 7pm and the room is still not ready. Which I don't understand since the check in time is supposed to be 4pm. So I called the front desk and see what's going on. But instead of helping with the situation, we were told that we were told that it's not ready yet. But that was beyond the point. We were tired and my kids are in the back seat. We were all tired and ready to get some rest. When I was checking in, another family came in to check in and they got to their room right away. What's worse is that the bathtub is somewhat clogged. The water doesn't go down right away. Ceiling is too thin that we can hear footsteps on the room on top. We've stayed at other sonesta and never had this issues. So always try to book with Sonesta. But this by far the worse one I've been at. I will never book here ever again. The only reason why i booked this is because the one i booked before, the one on Mira messa was sold out.

The Staff were all wonderful, kind and accommodating. The free breakfast was the best I have ever had in a hotel. The problems we had were all related to the age and maintenance of the building. The elevator was broken, as was the hot tub (we had really been looking forward to the hot tub!). The couch in the room was horrible with a hard ridge that digs into your back. There is a fireplace but no wood to burn (definitely not a gas unit), who brings wood with them?? The bed sagged in the middle so we both rolled to the center. Then, on our last day, the hot water heater had an issue and they required us to move to a new room, we had had enough and decided to leave a day early. Once again though, the staff was very kind and did not charge us for the last night, even though we were past the check out time.
- 5/5
Property was clean and well taken care of

Check in was horrible. I called and confirmed that me and my 2 other parties were going to be next to each other. I was told on 2 occasions that we would be next to each other. Upon arrival that was not the case. When trying to explain our frustration, the front desk clerk refused to listen to our complaint. Instead he insisted on talking over us. He said “since y’all are complaining I’ll comp your parking.” When we asked if there was something we needed to put in the window, he said, “I’m already giving it to you’re for free since you’re complaining.” We proceeded to ask if we’d be towed or ticketed since we wouldn’t have anything in our windows. He then looked at us and handed us a slip to put in our cars.

Great customer service and clean property. Enjoyed our stay. Would stay again and would recommend.

Hotel room is a suite with full size fridge stoves kitchenware. Very nice for family visiting San Diego.
- 4/5
Room was nice althought the hotel didn't have a elevator and the bathroom handle appeared to be broken the water was constantly running. The breakfast was good.
- 1/5
Nice size rooms But will not visit again
- 4/5
This is a hotel for long stays or because you have family nearby, I would not recommend this to anyone travelling to sightsee San Diego. For what it is, it's good. It has a little kitchenette, a living room area, and the bed linens are comfortable. Bonus that there is a GoPuff shop walking distance away!

Our favorite local stay choice and staff. Benji is the Most amazing person and a gem of an employee. He’s become a friend and we are always so happy to see him when we check in! Thank You Benji!!

All the plants and vibe

This was in a good location. Close to a lot of shops and restaurants. The room layout is nice and has a kitchen. The room could use a deeper clean like wipe down of walls and behind furniture but overall good. The biggest reason I gave a lower star rating is that we literally got stuck in our room due to a malfunctioning door. Maintenance had to get us out. The front desk seemed apologetic but it was a pretty huge issue.

Everything was good
