The hotel is praised for its central location, cleanliness, and friendly staff. However, some guests express concerns about the surrounding area, the size of the rooms, and issues with air conditioning.

Great location, close to Moscone Center, in downtown San Francisco. Direct BART metro from/to the airport, well connect to the public transport network (BART, Muni). Friendly, helpful stuff as well. The interior room was quite dark, and the AC was quite noisy.

Amazing location, right in front of the cable car, 1min from BART station and bus. Also in the heart of the city Center, near Union Square Clean room with good amenities. Water available on every floor Good quality-price ratio Room very small, with small bed
- 5/5
Great location right next to cable car turnaround. Felt safe with security measures.
- 4/5
However, I had a view of the atrium, which was nothing kind of dark

Bad experience. No parking offered or available. Just recommendations. Check in took like 20 minutes in a little hallway full of people so we got skipped twice to offer getting help checking in. Hotel room was nice and clean. Comfortable bed. Wasn’t a fan of the roll around A/C unit. Takes up space. TV was broken. Body wash and shampoo bottles were in their spots next to the shampoo but both completely empty. Cafe and robot room service was nice and convenient. Other hotels in the area with comparable price and more amenities.

Good location, at the cable car stop and with a direct underground line to the airport. Confortable and clean. As it is located in the centre, it is quite noisy.
- 4.5/5
I didn't realize it was an adjoining room and I could hear the person in the other room multiple times. It wasn't too bad, but I did get woke up a few times one night when they were coughing a lot.
- 3/5
Super small room. Good bathroom. Too small and area around not really safe.
- 5/5
My favorite SF hotel. Clean rooms, comfy beds, robot room service and friendly staff. Plus great views for people watching and easy access to the best of San Francisco.
- 5/5
I love this hotel. The location is amazing, shopping, dining, and a short walk to the Embarcadero! I always stay here when I come to the city.
- 5/5
This place is awesome! Very clean and comfortable. Loved the cafe and the robot!
- 5/5
I will absolutely be staying at this hotel again on my next trip to San Francisco. Convenient location (RIGHT next to the cable car turnaround), amazing staff, the cafe had great breakfast and small bites as well as drinks. The room was clean, cozy, and housekeeping did an excellent job.
- 5/5
The only shortcoming was lack of enough staff at the registration desk.
- 5/5
Wonderful Staff and great clean, modern hotel in an awesome location.
- 4/5
As expected
- 5/5
Front desk workers were great. Very friendly and helpful. Coffee and breakfast in the lobby was yummy. Staff there was great also.
- 5/5
Great location, wonderful old building with great iron work. Room on the small side, but comfy bed. Free record player and LPs!

Great place and excellent location
- 1/5
When I brought this to the hotel’s attention, the response was disappointing. The first staff member told me nothing could be done and asked me to come back later. Another employee said they would speak to a manager and follow up, but there was no urgency or real concern. I was eventually moved to a different room, but when I asked if it had been properly inspected for bedbugs, I was met with a rude and condescending attitude, as if I didn’t understand what I was asking. The customer service throughout this experience was poor. No one was apologetic, no one offered assistance (not even with luggage), and it felt like the situation was being brushed off instead of handled seriously. To make matters worse, during checkout, an employee asked how my stay was with a smirk, which came across as unprofessional and dismissive. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience, especially considering how much we paid. I would not recommend staying here unless you’re willing to risk dealing with bedbugs and unprofessional staff.
- 5/5
Everything was perfect, even though the A/C in my unit was a portable instead of central air.
- 5/5
Location convenient to both the BART and the MUNI.
- 5/5
Great location for all things Powell St. Market Street and Union Square. My go-to for shows at the Warfield.
- 5/5
Nice location..
- 5/5
Excellent and gracious service. Much appreciated.
- 1/5
Then, as my children were extremely tired and throwing a fit, we were stuck waiting in the lobby for another 30 minutes wondering if we were going to be sleeping in the lobby. Finally, at 12:30am, a hotel employee comes in and without any acknowledgement that we were waiting there for an hour, without any apology, checks us in and tells us the room we booked and pre-paid for (two queen bed rooms) was not available and there was only a single room with a king size bed left. The attendant seemed annoyed that he even had to do his job. This hotel has terrible, unacceptable service. No empathy, no acknowledgement of leaving us out to dry, no attempt at making it right.
- 5/5
This is a very nice hotel. The location is fantastic if you are relying on public transportation. The staff is helpful and courteous. The only downside is a smell in the room and the AC is loud.
- 2/5
Not sure why ANYONE in hospitality would think it appropriate to place in a hotel room but there it was. Took almost 12 HOURS to arrange another room. Won't go again.
- 3/5
The hotel was cozy; however, there was an issue with homelessness and drug use around the building.
- 5/5
Free drinking water, nice quiet room, premium bedding. Window is open 5 inch by default. But no worry, nobody can enter your room from the window. So it is safe. There is a little incident though. When I was near the elevator, the guy on the main floor think I am not a guest, so I showed my room key card to prove I am a guest. If he could just drop judgement & leave me alone please. I mean, even IF I am not a guest, if I am inside the elevator I couldn't go up anyway, since it needs a room key card to operate the elevator. Everything else is nice. This hotel is located in the nice part of SF.

I am writing to share my experience from my recent stay at your hotel last week. Unfortunately, it did not meet expectations. During my stay, the TV in our room was not working. I called the front desk to request assistance, but no one ever came to fix the issue. Later, the other person staying with me went down to the front desk in person, and we were told that the TV could not be fixed that day and would have to wait until the next day. Since we were only staying for one night, this solution was not helpful. We were also not offered a room change, which could have easily resolved the issue. In addition to this, the walls in the room were visibly dirty, and the heater took a long time to turn back on, making the room uncomfortable. Overall, these issues significantly impacted our stay, and I was disappointed with how they were handled. I hope you take this feedback seriously and improve the experience for future guests. Thank you for your time. Sincerely, Michelle Jaime

Clean, modern rooms. Super friendly staff. Insanely convenient location.
- 5/5
Very nice gym staff friendly and helpful. Very convenient if using bart since station is steps away. Would stay again
- 5/5
Great room. Nice cafe and lovely staff. Convenient location.
- 4/5
The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean. The staff was nice and friendly. We felt really safe inside and around the hotel, even while traveling with two little kids!
- 5/5
Great staff! The café had delicious food as well.
- 5/5
Loved it here
- 5/5
Very nice hotel and nice staff too! Very friendly people
- 3/5
Moved rooms, heat didnt work well in both. Fridge turned off in middle of night and ruined my food. They tried to use robot to deliver keys but it didnt work. I ended up following it downstairs and then went up to room and keys did not work. Area around was not very safe either.
- 4/5
Nice stay for a girls night out weekend. Manager was very friendly and accommodating.
- 5/5
Thanks
- 4/5
The staff, esp Ahmed, were very helpful in solving a room problem and the location was super convenient.
- 5/5
Robots deliver your room service! (From a limited menu.) Convenient location. Small lobby means that your socializing is off-site.
- 5/5
Super clean, great location. A few small things in-room didn't work, but the amazing staff offered compensation. They are so friendly & helpful. Checking & out w/Dahli were delightful encounters, and the young lady on duty when I grabbed my bag was equally kind.
- 4/5
The rooms are a bit spartan but spotless with comfy beds, pod espresso machines, extremely fast WiFi, and nice Lather cosmetics. The building is older, however, so most rooms have portable air conditioning units that don’t work consistently. My periodically shut off, leaving the air stagnant and musty. Hallways suffered from this too — they looked clean but smelled a bit off. Service is wonderful. Requests are handled by text and Ahmed at the front desk is lovely and welcoming. Common areas are stylish, comfortable, and quiet. While I didn’t get to use it, the gym was surprisingly well appointed given the size of the hotel. Overall, I’d call Axiom a 3.5 out of 5, but I’m rounding up to 4. It’s no frills spot, but you’re in San Francisco… are you really hanging in your hotel room anyway?
- 5/5
Room was spotless, clean and well conditioned.
- 5/5
The staff was friendly, the room was clean and comfortable. An overall great place to stay and will again.
- 4/5
Room was clean and well-equipped for all my needs during my stay. Location was great as it was close to many shops and modes of transportation. But walls were thin and every night there was someone shouting. There was also a night when someone was smoking weed in the building as I got a strong waft of it in my room though my window was shut and AC turned on.
- 5/5
Great location, friendly staff, clean and modern rooms
- 4/5
Hotel is in great location. The trolley car is right outside the door. It’s within walking distance to shopping and restaurants. The staff was friendly. The reason for stay was for the robot room service. Took a phone call and request to make it happen. Overall, not a bad place and location
- 4/5
The room was generally good and clean. However, the first night was a bit disappointing as we didn’t feel very welcomed. The staff, who should have greeted us warmly after our long journey, lacked kindness and hospitality. He even mentioned that despite our booking, there was still a possibility we couldn’t be accommodated due to our late check-in, which contradicts the “check-in anytime” policy stated in their brochure—the reason we chose their hotel. On a positive note, I must commend the housekeepers for their friendliness and dedication to keeping everything spotless. Additionally, I noticed an issue with the bathroom faucets, which might need some attention.
- 5/5
Taylor went above and beyond to accommodate us.
- 5/5
Staff was awesome! Great location!

- 3/5
It was so loud in the room. The beds were not very comfortable. Otherwise it was fine.

- 4/5
Great hotel at a great location to hop on the train or cable car being at the front door. Close proximity to shops. My only dislike is the portable AC unit that was in my room. It was loud and i couldn’t turn it off because i would’ve gotten hot. But overall great hotel.
- 5/5
Clean room , nice staff
- 5/5
We didn’t do this but I think you can rent a record player and vinyls which is neat!
- 5/5
No issues, easy check-in, will be back!
- 4/5
AC issues
- 2/5
Unfortunately, overpriced for the offerings. The place is dark, the wifi didn't work and the air conditioning didn't work. The staff was nice and helpful but overall, felt like we were overcharged for what we got.
- 4/5
The only downside was the portable AC unit, which was really noisy at night. I’d recommend bringing earplugs if you’re a light sleeper. Aside from that, everything else was fine
- 5/5
Location is great, but as with most of SF keep your wits about you when walking alone after dark.
- 2/5
Warning before booking, union square area is full of homeless
- 5/5
We really enjoyed our stay at Axiom Hotel. The staff were really friendly and very helpful. Also the room was really clean and fresh with linen and towels changed every day, can't find fault with anything. Would definately stay here again if we're ever back in San Francisco!!
- 5/5
Great stay!
- 3/5
Nice hotel but a 235$ deposit is insane to me.
- 5/5
The hotel is extremely convenient for public transportation, which can easily take you just about anywhere in the city. There are multiple shopping venues in the area, although we didn't frequent any. Oracle Park, home of the SF Giants, is an easy 10-minute subway ride from Powell St. Station (which is, at most, 5 minutes from the hotel). There isn't much for dining options within the hotel, although we enjoyed a couple of light meals from the hotel cafe. The staff was extremely pleasant, helpful, and accommodating. The only drawback is, of course, the homeless presence around the train stop. While somewhat uncomfortable, we never felt threatened nor were we approached--they were just there. Our next trip to San Francisco will include a return stay at the Axiom.
- 5/5
Love them
- 4/5
Hotel is well located and was clean and staff was nice in general.
- 3/5
Small room and mini fridge was very closed in to open. The cabinet that had the fridge was super close to the bedside. Television in room 515 was freezing or turning off suddenly. Did not enjoy watching movies at night.
- 5/5
Great coffee shop in the building amazing, the area surrounding the hotel at night arent the best but its walkable tons of food options within a couple blocks
- 4/5
However...The ventilation system was not working in the room at all. A fan had been set up but it did not adequately aliviate the lack of air conditioning and was noisy. The hotel listing on Expedia says they have a restaurant and a bar. While you can get limited drink and some food, to call it a separate restaurant and bar is a pretty big over statement. The hotel staff was lovely and I appreciate them but we are always looking for a hotel with a full service restaurant and bar and this was not available here. If you don't reqire full food/drink service then this may be the place for you.
- 5/5
Beautiful property but close to an area with a lot of transient people. Not the hotel's fault. The hotel was beautiful
- 5/5
Great stay!
- 5/5
The staff was very friendly especially the lady that checked us in. She was awesome!
- 5/5
The only reason I gave comfort 4 stars is I booked a nano queen for my wife and I, and without a doubt it was the smallest hotel room we have ever been in. So if youre traveling alone it's great, but if you are couple go with a bigger option. The staff were super friendly and the location was perfect. A 10-15 minute ride on the T to Oracle Park for the games, and the trolley car turnaround is literally right in front of the hotel.
- 5/5
I really enjoyed my stay. At the center of almost all forms of public transportation, so very convenient! Comfortable, clean, and charming rooms.
- 4/5
Staff was very friendly and helpful from front desk to valet and valet is a given as there is no parking unless your willing to walk a few blocks back from a near by garage. $70ish bucks a night, I’d say valet is well worth it. Comfy beds, nice area very central and affordable nightly rates. Overall happy with our stay!
- 4/5
i like the proximity to everything
- 4/5
Hotel is clean.
- 5/5
I really enjoyed stay, however we were charged additionally for fees. We prepaid before our arrival then at check in we were upgraded to a room with a king size bed. When we got home we were charged when we were told upgrade was free.
- 5/5
Lovely place in great location to visit various parts of city.
- 5/5
Nice hotel.
- 2/5
The room stunk and the power breaker kept tripping.
- 5/5
Despite proximity to Tenderloin (which as a prior San Franciscan, never bothered me too much!), we had zero qualms about safety of the vicinity of the hotel and walkable nature of surrounding amenities and shops. I appreciated the accessibility of the gym downstairs, and Little Sweet Cafe/bar with reasonably priced drinks. Room size was larger than expected despite being city-centric. I would certainly stay here again.
- 5/5
As advertised
- 5/5
Nice hotel with a unique library theme to it in a great location for a downtown San Francisco visit. Staff was friendly and helpful, comfortable room, and easy to get around from there.

- 4/5
Functional and great location for downtown area.
- 5/5
Steps away from Powell street station. Right in union square. Very convenient
- 5/5
This was a great place to stay. Located right in the heart of everything, with lots of food and shopping nearby, the hotel was modern and attractive. The room was very nice, recently renovated and smelled good. It was clean and the large bathroom felt luxurious.
- 5/5
Location, location, location!
- 4/5
No view at all, overlooking a small courtyard and other rooms, helped with the quiet though. Bathroom door was odd. A big, heavy rolling door with no lock, that sometimes rolled open at inconvenient times. Otherwise very good, and would stay there again.
- 3/5
The beds were too soft, the rooms were small and we supposedly got upgraded to bigger rooms. The hotel is nice but the area is not very good
- 5/5
Great experience overall!
- 4/5
Our room was clean and had a great view of the cable car turnaround. The star of the night was the delivery boy, Astro. He delivered my crème brûlée and did a little dance before rolling back to Axiom’s Turn Cafe. Truly the only downside was the bed. It was extremely firm, like sleeping on a table. However, I bet it would be a dream for those who like firm beds.
- 4/5
I loved that it was so close to the train and so close to nice stores.
- 3/5

- 5/5
Property was super nice inside. Never forget you are down town and that doesnt change when u are down town. But we walked around found a roof top bar few blocks away to chill at night. Best is you can walk out and jump on the San Francisco trolley. Best ride do the down to fisher man wharf. Biggest hills best view. Its outside the main door. If you want the adventure it starts here.
- 4/5
Very accessible but the hotel walkway is kind of dark.
- 5/5
very comfortable room. terrific location. nice ambience lovely, but small gym. no dinning room. does have a cafeteria that makes meals.
- 5/5
Perfect location. Trolly car right outside the hotel. Front desk employee was fun snd helpful. Loved playing food ball and packman
- 5/5
Great hotel, location, and staff. Definitely stay there again
- 4/5
Aircon is not working so were given a portable one which consumed a space & its noisy.
- 5/5
Nicely located right next to cable car. Rooms on the small side but very clean and cosy. The parking is expensive at $65 a night. AC was a unit in the room on the floor.we never used it as the temperature was fine. Keep an eye out for the room service robot. The hotel is located neat Union Square and Chinatown. Would stay again.
- 5/5
So close to the BART station, and the cable car terminus is literally right out the front door.
- 5/5
Staff were great. Only complaint was our air conditioning didn’t work.
- 1/5
Liked the room but other stuff like parking was absolutely ridiculous. 65$ to park is outrageous. If valet make an earning by tips then lower your cost and I might start handing out 20’s. I too worked valet before and we never charged over 25$ a night. That was in Santa Barbara for context.
- 5/5
Excellent location. Front desk was poor, not user friendly and only adequate staff. Room service was good.
- 5/5
It was close to everything we wanted to see.
- 3/5
Water pressure is so low, hard to get all my body wet/cleaned from how water shower. One biggest useless thing in the room is mini fridge. It only runs up to 2 hours, you will need to press it on every 2 hours. I couldn’t put yoghurt in it because I’ll be asleep instead of pressing it on every 2 hours. So I get yoghurt from walgreens nearby each morning. I don’t understand why hotel decided to purchase this in rooms.
- 4/5
Great location and friendly staff
- 4/5
Clean and comfortable room nice showers and cool amenities downstairs. What’s not cool is the 3pm check in time that most hotels let me check in for at 10am no problem without an extra fee. You’ll be charged $50 plus some other fee if you try to check in early, so I opted to roam the city for a few hours. It’s conveniently placed right outside of the bart so you don’t have to worry about getting a rental and can get pretty much anywhere from it relatively cheaply. I saw a baseball game in Oakland and was able to take it right to the collisiem. I was also able to take the train to and from the airport. There’s also a cable car route right in front of the hotel that you can take to fisherman’s wharf if you want to check out that area! My only other real complaint is the rooms are really small but if you just need a clean nice place to sleep At night in San Francisco that’s close to all the transit I would highly recommend this place.
- 1/5
If you are looking for sleepless nights with the sound of ambulances, cars and a very poor maintained portable AC select this hotel
- 2/5
No parking is the worst
- 5/5
Despite the area of town around the hotel being a bit less savory, the hotel itself was a gem! I felt safe and secure and the proximity to the Moscone Center made my experience just perfect.
- 5/5
Classy, sleek, and conveniently located.
- 4/5
This hotel is close to everything great location. Wish the front desk staff were more friendly. But overall great stay. I would stay here again.
- 2/5
when I first arrived at the axiom, I couldn’t find the entrance because it was dark and poorly marked. They were homeless people hanging around near the front. I had to call the hotel to find out how to get inside and where to park my vehicle. The parking access is only by valet parking, which you cannot use until you actually check in. I had to leave my truck in front of the building and I felt very unsafe for myself and my truck for a bath Tub in our room which meant we received a full handicap suite. We were not informed that this would be the case.
- 4/5
Great staff. Small but nice room. Great gym. Cafe in lobby. Lots of public work spaces.
- 3/5
Not very clean, lots of cracks in the room
- 5/5
Puedes hacer todo caminando por qué está en el centro de la ciudad
- 5/5
Excellent hotel, great location and the rooms were huge. Staff were friendly, although I showed up early for check in, they had a room available, but wanted to charge me $50 for the privilege. Otherwise amazing, will happily stay here again.
- 4/5
You might doubt the location of this hotel if you enter from Cyri St, because the Tenderloin neighborhood is on that said. But, if you enter from the other side (Powell St), it is different because that is where the cable cur turn around. Very convenient if you are trying to hop on the cable cars. Near by many stores for any shopping needs. Only downside of this hotel is the Valet parking service, they said they need 15mins, but expect to spend 30-45 mins. The texting feature never worked, you have to walk down to the receptionist to let them know you texted. Don’t do Valet dor the price they are charging, service is not good.

Cable cars takes you climb halfway up to the moon and you can’t help but give up your heart
- 5/5
Dining options are abundant nearby as are shopping opportunities. We highly recommend this property.
- 5/5
This was a great place to stay right outside was the cable car easy access around the city in the streetcars
- 3/5
However opportunity is 1) house keeping details - trash not taken out and piece of trash on the floor 2) Not all room's heat/air is working - a lot of maintenance going on in the hotel 3) walked into the hotel and a person from street was walking through the lobby without getting stopped 4) interesting smells through out different part of the building and elevator.
- 5/5
I really enjoyed my stay!
- 3/5
it's a good hotel if you just want a central location to crash
- 5/5
This hotel is exceptionally clean and has been updated everywhere. All the staff were helpful and friendly. The location can not be beat. Outside the front door is the BART station (to and from the airport), two Cable car lines, the F Tram (up to Castro district and all the way to Fisherman's wharf), plus the subway and numerous buses. Within walking distance are Union Square, Chinatown, City Hall, and the major theatres. In the lobby is a tiny cafe that serves delicious coffee and pastries in the mornings, and has a surprisingly diverse menu available. Very friendly servers. The only downsides to the hotel are that some of the surrounding streets are sketchy in the daytime and possibly dangerous at night (stick to Market Street or take an Uber), and some of the rooms overlooking the Cable Car terminus are noisy. Highly recommend it.
- 5/5
Very quiet and amazing place. Everything is closeby. Clean and beautiful.
- 3/5
No room upgrade. Our daughter in her own room was on the 6th floor, while we are stuck on the very noisy third floor. No bottle of wine as promised by Expedia (“VIP Service”).
- 5/5
The Axiom is a friendly, tech forward hotel with reasonable sized rooms for downtown San Francisco. The low rating for the noise- I expect noise in downtown, but the outer window did not closer properly, despite the friendly maintenance folks trying to fix it. Super clean, comfortable room, fast internet, exercise room with a Peloton bike, and cafe in-house made for a comfortable business stay
- 5/5
Great location. Next to Powell St BART & Moscone. Lots of good stuff nearby.
- 4/5
Great staff with attentive service
- 5/5
The hotel was very nice! The room was very very nice! We were right in the center for all transportation so we got to get on the cable cars, bus, the train! Everything we wanted to do, we accessed via public transportation. Restaurant options were great. There’s homeless ppl but they don’t bother you. I would come back to this hotel again if ever back in San Fran!
- 2/5
Decent property with a slightly confusing car entrance. We had to circle the building and call before any valet came and took our car from the busy road for us to unload. The staff were all terrific and the rooms themselves are modern. The hallways and elevators are narrow so make sure you don’t have any oversized items. They share a space with a small cafe so food is not a problem. Unfortunately, the most beautiful part of this property is its main reception. The rooms have a completely different vibe. In our room, the AC would work and stop working throughout the night and it was freezing in the room. The front staff were gracious enough to come up and fix it from time to time but at a point it was too late in the night to deal with. We were unable to move to a more functional room. It would have been an amazing stay if it weren’t for the valet and AC issues. For the price, these problems should have not happened.
- 3/5
Great location if walking to Union Square but many unhoused people in the area. Our room was great except for the construction work in the next room over. The work could have been done during the day while we were out and about.
- 5/5
I enjoyed my stay at Axiom Hotel. As a solo woman traveler visiting San Francisco for work, I felt safe here. It was comfortable and classy. I liked the cafe inside the hotel. The tables and little workstations in the lobby were nice as well.

- 4/5
No parking garage
- 4/5
Nicely updated hotel in an unbeatable location. Powell St BART/Muni station is just 50 feet from the door, giving quick access anywhere in town or to both airports, and the cable car boarding is right in front. Very comfortable room and bed, very nice bathroom except that I hate the barn door style bathroom door which doesn't really give much privacy.
- 5/5
A great spot for a solo traveler or couple looking for a comfortable, affordable home base while seeing San Francisco’s DT areas. The common areas are nice, and the staff we interacted with were genuine and helpful.
- 4/5
The mono king is small but was nice. Great location but still has some homeless issues. But those are the same for many years. Right at the main cable car stop. We were able to walk most places.
- 3/5
Average service and environment
- 5/5
Nice place, clean room, friendly staff. Lots of street noise but it's San Francisco, what do you expect? I would stay there again.

This was my second time staying and won’t be my last. Walking distance to conventions, safe and clean. Perfect for what I need.

Room was clean and comfortable. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Location was great. Only negative was that the air conditioner did not work. Even in November, it was very warm in room. They provided a free standing fan and we cracked open the windows but it was the middle of the night before it cooled off.

It works great for me - good cafe, clean, nice showers.

The air conditioning was only one little plug in fan and the room was hot and super small. Other than that it was a nice hotel, clean, staff was friendly and close to a mall, stores, etc.
