Reviews
The hotel reviews are mixed, with guests praising the friendly and helpful staff, particularly Sam at the front desk. However, many guests expressed concerns about the safety of the surrounding area and the cleanliness of the rooms. Some guests also reported issues with the amenities, such as the lack of air conditioning and the poor quality of the breakfast.
- Friendly and helpful staff, particularly Sam at the front desk
- Free parking and secure location
- Unsafe surrounding area with a high number of homeless people
- Rooms in need of renovation and cleanliness issues

The property was well kept. Very clean and the room had a clean scent. Parking was a surprise. I didn’t realize there was a fee to park however I might have missed it on the App. Location was a bit of a distance but can’t complain as the price for the night wasn’t too bad. We also were surprised on arrival as they do not offer breakfast, however this again was solved at the hotel as the staff said we get a $10 Boucher for each person for their restaurant breakfast. That was a nice touch too. Over we loved it and would book a room at the same place. Would give it an 9 out of 10.
- 4/5
Cant complain really! Needed a last minute stay and this worked perfectly for me. I'm not super picky but i would imagine this would be sufficient for most people.
- 2/5
The hotel location overall was not good. the hotel is not well maintained and appears rundown. The room itself was ok but very cramped. The shower had very poor water pressure and had difficulty with hot water. We were not given lines for the sofa bed. The room would get hot in the middle of the night no matter what temperature we would put on our thermostat
- 2/5
Advertised continental breakfast, which was not the case. Instead was given $10 daily credit to their horrible restaurant. also, no AC
- 5/5
First time in San Fran. Best part of the whole trip was being able to come back to Soma house. The nicest interaction out of the whole city.
- 5/5
Great place, easy walk to locations such as Union Sq. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout, room was clean and cleaned well each day. Would definitely recommend and stay agian.
- 5/5
Every time I go to San Francisco this is where I stay at. I love it here. Third time staying at Soma house. And now they have the grill open, or as they call it Soma social. Bomb.com ask for Sergio dope as guy.
- 4/5
Food at the restaurant was delicious. I recommend trying the burrito it is wrapped in bacon and delicious! Cocktails and bartenders were all super nice as well as the PM Hispanic busser/server (sorry not sure his exact role but he was super friendly and welcoming, sorry I didn’t catch his name). Pool was nice and heated. Convenient location to walk to nearby bars and restaurants too, I recommend Tempest and Chieftain. Only downside was no hot tub and no fridge in room. Overall good stay 4/5 stars would recommend!
- 4/5
We had no complaints or issues.
- 4/5
Location is great, especially of you’re attending an event at the Orpheum. The Soma Social sports bar and grill downstairs can quench your thirst and provide a quick meal. The staff is outstanding, and the valet parking on site works wonders. We took full advantage of the pool one sunny afternoon, and walked several blocks to explore the area undaunted.
- 5/5
Great hotel, really nice Resturant attached, good location.
- 4.5/5
Cleanliness Convenient to all places
- 4/5
There was a very loud fight going on last nite for about 1/2 hrs on floor below us at around 9:30 pm.
- 4/5
Good rate and great location for our needs. There was a very loud fight going on last nite for about 1/2 hrs on floor below us at around 9:30 pm.
- 1/5
While the hotel was fairly priced, the hotel is very close to a very bad part of town known as Tenderloin. The room it self was small with very poorly insulated windows. I was able to hear everything during the day and into the night. The bathroom shower had mold and cracked tile with the door opening into the toilet. They no longer served breakfast but shared they still had pastries and coffee for guests. However, breakfast was advertised on the website.
- 4/5
The environment was very tranquil. The facility was well managed The room was extremely clean The bed was very comfortable The bathroom was well equipped The amenities were appreciated Maybe my only suggestions wluld be that the bathroom might have some hooks that are not placed so high on the back of the door because I am only 5'4 and I couldn't reach up there to hang anything. The other issue that crossed my mind was that a rug or mat would be nice because the floor was very very cold on our feet

Just done come here that’s it
- 5/5
Just a heads up, our room did not have a fridge, and we brought snacks and drinks, expecting that we would have one. Apparently, they are shared on a request, first come first serve basis, so if you want a fridge, you might want to ask them ahead of time. By the time we asked, they were all out of mini fridges. Otherwise, they have a cute little sports bar with yummy breakfast options, and the location felt central and safe. They will valet your car, but we actually found a street parking, which is another bonus! I would stay here again.
- 0.5/5
You have to pay separately for parking at this hotel and when we checked out we went out and when we came back to the room there was a lot of cockroaches.
- 5/5
👌👌👍👍
- 4/5
Everything was good except they do not serve breakfast.
- 1/5
The property was not bad it just need to be refreshed.
- 2/5
The bed in the pillows were very comfortable, and the room was clean however, all in the halls and outside it was filthy dirty. Lots of noise and door slamming constantly. Bri at the front desk was very helpful, Ariana in the restaurant lied to us and told us that we couldn’t go across the street to his sister hotel, and get breakfast that everybody had to come over to Soma. she wanted to get people to come over and pay for breakfast instead of having a free breakfast.. I wouldn’t stay there again next time I’m in San Francisco.. The location was good but other than that…. No thank you
- 5/5
Great place to stay in San Francisco
- 4/5
Clean room. Good location
- 3/5
The building is not in great condition. They seem to be going for a cute boutique style but it's not as nice as they portray. You are forced to use valet, which is only open from 7-11, I ordered two queen beds and got two double beds, the body wash was empty and the floor was totally dirty. Our toddler's socks were completely brown within a minute of walking around the room. The rest of the room seemed fairly clean.
- 1/5
The rooms were complete crap. No ventilation in my room. There was no mini fridge or anything in the room. The room was extremely stuffy as well. The staff was nice and they cleaned the rooms really well. The overall condition of the property was bad. I understand it was older but they probably have mold spores
- 5/5
My stay in this place was good and matched my expectations. Location is good, could reach everywhere in a pretty short time. It has an outdoor pool, not big, but good enough on a hot sunny day. Room wasn’t as clear as i was thinking, amenities were good. But there was no kettle unfortunately, and shower amenities weren’t preferable. Overall, good for its price!
- 5/5
Loved the place
- 2/5
The room is as clean unclean. The valet personnel were good everyone else was nice enough but cry very slow
- 3/5
And there was a cockroach inside our room.
- 2/5
When booking it said there would be a complimentary breakfast. There wasn’t one. They said there would be maid/ cleaning services. We didn’t get any. The rooms next to us were super loud. There was yelling all night. Not close to anything in a very sketchy neighborhood. Would not recommended
- 3/5
So so
- 2/5
The pool The fact that they charge an exorbitant amount of money for parking it doesn’t matter if you’re a guest there or not and then they have a $300 deposit that I still haven’t got back. I supposedly it takes five days.

The neighborhood is ok, but you’re right on the cusp of the tenderloin. But, the hotel itself is nice, clean and the vibe is more international with the people staying there. Very decent for the price and i would stay again but avoid a few streets up. A perfect stay for the budget friendly who want everything to be right there. Walkable to everything

Exceptional
- 1.5/5
The room smelled old, musty and mildly like mildew. Water pressure was low. Soap scum build up in the corners of the shower. The location is the worst area of San Francisco. Quiet hours do not exist. All hours of the day and night employees and guests are loud. Seems to be in the middle of a remodel. I’m not sure is my room had already been remodeled or not but either way it wasn’t worth the price. Bed was lumpy and uncomfortable. Half the light switches did not work.

A lot of nickel and dime charges, amenities charge, parking, the deposits etc.
- 5/5
Was a really nice stay
- 3/5
Was there one night location was not great but still okay. One ice machine
- 4/5
Comfortable and affordable. The property is definitely showing some age but nice enough.
- 4/5
Rooms are clean enough. Some things don't work. Safe, remote control, shower heads.
- 3/5
Overall good stay, wouldn’t book again just for the fact that you have to pay an Additional 50$ a day for parking unless you find something on the street. Staff was Great though
- 4/5
I enjoyed my stay here. The pool is nice and the rooms are clean and comfortable. Onsite parking is overpriced, though.
- 4/5
Parking like a hotel day
- 1/5
Horrible
- 3/5
Breakfast was basic coffee and danishes that tasted not so great. Hotel location is in the heart of the ghetto but no homeless approached or bothered us. Rooms are basic and nothing special. Pool is only 4ft deep and maybe 150 sqft of actual pool. Parking is the worst part of staying here. 70$ per night is robbery for "valet". I was asked multiple times to park my own car and just handed the keys. It does have security most of the time at least but at 3 am when i left there was no security guard or valet person there and the front desk told me they handle it after certain hours so its not a safe option in my opinio. Over all its not a terrible hotel but with so many other cheaper and nicer hotels slightly further away id never stay there again.

- 1/5
I have pictures of the quality of the bedroom. Stains on the wall, and floor. I also saw and took a picture of a bug in the restroom. One of the things that made me the most upset, is the fact that this property ONLY offers vallet parking. & it’s extra not free, $57 per day!! when I asked the receptionist why it was not advertised, she blamed Expedia. Will not be booking here again and maybe not using Expedia either
- 4/5
The room was wonderful. We really appreciated the cleanliness and the wonderful helpful staff! I was a little nervous I. The area surrounding- though no fault of the hotel. They were very accommodating and the room was lovely!
- 3/5
Breakfast was fresh
- 3/5
Great customer service -staff were friendly, helpful, and attentive. Biggest highlight of the stay.
- 3/5
The first night we stayed there were several noisy guests. We could hear talking and music through the walls, and the motel setup made it so we could hear other guests walking by and in the courtyard pretty late into the night. The rest of the visit was quieter and the staff was friendly. Location wasn't the best, but convenient.
- 5/5
Loved your coffee and a great stay
- 3/5
The rooms are smelling in the whole hotel. It’s very dirty except for the lobby.
- 3/5
Staff was helpful and sweet! Lobby was nice, unfortunately that’s kinda it lol Multiple things in my room were broken and/or defective. Somehow parking lot was always full even when spots were open. If you plan on using street parking, mind the area. Downtown is not a safe or clean space. Lack of AC made the entire hotel smell like hot breath. Window was broken had to use a trash can to prop it open. And someone took the fridge out of my room??? It’s kinda funny but also I fully thought a fridge would be provided since all the photos online showed mini fridges. Good chance I got unlucky and the guest before stole it lol

Not in the best part of town but on site security and valet parking.?
- 5/5
The hotel was honestly really nice. I was afraid because people said it is in a bad area but that is not really the case (around the hotel). I felt very safe, everything was clean and the stuff was ultra nice. A great experience overall, highly recommend it.
- 5/5
Whole experience great. Staff amazing. The secure valet parking is the best. Definitely a unique SF experience. No AC FYI but the weather here usually doesn’t need it.

Nice hotel but kind of in a bad area but other than location the staff was great and the hotel stay overall was good.

- 5/5
Nice place, friendly staff clean room
- 5/5
The Soma House is the sister hotel to The Garrett and Hotel Fiona, and it’s where the amenities are located. The rooms were clean, and the staff was amazing and very accommodating. The pool area was nice and comfortable, and there were shops and places to eat nearby. Overall, we had a much better experience staying here.
- 3/5
Nice location but nothing special. Area is a food desert. Only awful food around there. Beware the Chinese restaurant across street
- 5/5
Easy check and the room.was nice/clean. The parking is not included and is $$ that is my only complaint.
- 5/5
Exceptional value and amazing customer service. Sam took good care of me when I had an issue with my room. Above and beyond. Enjoyed a swim and nice little gym.
- 2/5
The phone didn’t work to call the front desk, the room smelled like bleach.
- 2/5
There is no AC in the rooms so be aware of that and no mini fridge. Very outdated, im somewhat surprised they said it’s been renovated recently. The bar was also advertised as open but when we arrived they said it won’t be open till April or May
- 4/5
the room was clean and well arranged. The only downside was noise from the outside. Thankfully we did not have any noise issue in the middle of the night.
- 5/5
Fantastic staff. Renovated property, good value for money.

- 5/5
The room was spotless, and smelled clean. Courteous staff, very helpful. What stood out to me was once you got in and went to your room the layout of the hotel was beautiful. A little courtyard with a fountain type set up. The pool was so nice and clean and set up with a nice loungy area. Two palm trees swaying out front. Price was great. The only complaint i had was the bathroom was super small, but it wasn't so bad that i would take a star away. I plan on coming here for a get away and relax during summer and swim.
- 5/5

- 4/5
The neighborhood was questionable, we weren’t familiar with the area so we were a bit surprised at the surroundings. However the hotel was clean and our room was great. The staff was nice & really helpful.
- 3/5
Amenities? No refrigerator or microwave in room.
- 5/5
The area is not very nice, but we were safe at all times
- 3/5
No ac had ti change rooms because of a chemical smell
- 5/5
Spacious, convenient location, newly remodeled, clean and friendly
- 4/5
There was no air conditioner in my room. Good for price.
- 2/5
Room is at bare minimum
- 5/5
The room was much bigger than I expected. It was decorated well and very clean. It was a bit cold in the bedroom and the heater was in the living room, but an extra blanket was all I needed. I was a bit disappointed that I couldn’t use the gym because it doesn’t open until 9. Breakfast was decent. Nothing hot, and mostly pastries and fruit. I was pleasantly surprised by the egg bites.
- 1/5
Don’t get fooled by the pictures online. Basically paid $400+ per night for a renovated motel located in the heart of the homeless district. Got woken up each night around 2 or 3am to loud police sirens, people screaming, etc. To make things worse, Uber picks the alley on the side of the building to drop you off (next to a few dumpsters). The only positive thing was that the bed, mattress, pillows & sheets were brand new and comfortable. But there was no thermostat in the room to regulate the heat & the TV didn’t get any regular channels (needed to use WiFi with Netflix)
- 3/5
They are still doing re-construction; no microwave or refrigerator in the room; restaurant is not open yet ; Breakfast was very weak: not really breakfast but a “snack” —- personnel were very friendly and helpful.
- 1/5
Staff are bad
- 4/5
Very good
- 5/5
Staff where really nice and helpful, room was clean loved everything most definitely loved my stay
- 4/5
It was on for over night not for three or more days
- 5/5
Stayed here while attending a music festival. Not the best neighbourhood but the place was well worth the price. Fairly close to a lot of things! The pool was nice for a quick dip before starting the day too. You wouldn't expect a pool to be in a place in this location!
- 3/5
The room was nicely remodeled and comfortable although notably missing fridge and microwave. The lobby was nice and the staff was responsive and courteous. Continental.breakfast very minimal, Parking $50-$60/day. Sketchy neighborhood. Not particularly peaceful once in hotel room as the rooms are motel style surrounding a courtyard and we frequently dealt with door slammjng and yelling.
- 3/5
The room and breakfast was okay. They were remodeling and the valet guy(older) was very rude. The other staff were good.
- 3/5
Clean
- 4/5
Staff was super friendly and welcoming. Checking in and out was a breeze. Hotel and room was clean and comortable. Breakfast was surprisingly decent with low carb egg bite options and tea. For the price the area is great, within walking distance to union square and china town. BART access is convenient making the rest of the city super accessible. It is downtown SF tho, so some surrounding streets feel super sketch. Despite this, hotel felt super safe.would totally stay here again.
- 5/5
Clean rooms
- 5/5
More than adequate, and well secured.
- 2/5
AC/Heat: There's no central air, but an overhead fan and wall heater. The heater worked well at night, but I couldn't set it to a desired temperature. Staff: In spite of these issues, I do want to commend the staff and management who were very responsive in finding me a better room after my experience.
- 3/5
Great price through hotels.com! SOMA House was cool, wish I got to stay and dip in the pool. Hotel valet parking was too expensive and there not a lot of lots around that area . I parked by the event I went to and got Lyft rides back to the hotel and back to my car in the morning. $15 vs $68 for valet.
- 5/5
Cool space nice staff
- 3/5
The staff was incredibly nice and helpful. The TV in my room didn’t work. The hotel is undergoing renovations which did not affect my review negatively. You can tell they are trying hard to make the hotel nicer. I would stay here again.
- 1/5
From missing features in rooms i.e. no safe in one and no refrigerator in another to rooms next door being gutted from 8am with heavy power tools and drilling next door and bellow us. not a fun or relaxing stay.
- 5/5
Everything was great!
- 4/5
Wish we had a better view, we had alleyway view. But rather than that, everything was great. Great customer service
- 5/5
All good but I haven’t get my reimbursement yet
- 5/5
the overall experience was very nice, qnd parking was super easy
- 4/5
Rooms were okay. Outside around the hotel really bad environment. My only complaint is the parking fee. Overcharging for parking.
- 3/5
No A/C & Window didn’t open $86/night for Parking is Ridiculous
- 4/5
Room was clean and the staff was very nice and helpful.
- 3/5
Rooms were clean, front desk was helpful, the hotel is old and in need of an overhaul. The neighborhood is sketchy. The rates were attractive. We received a room upgrade and a discount on parking.
- 3/5
Staff was very nice. Hotel was loud. Other guests were partying all night with very loud music. It felt like they were going to come through the ceiling.
- 5/5
Clean room and courteous staff
- 5/5
Nice staff .. central location
- 4/5
Well maintained rooms.
- 2/5
The front desk morning person, is just unpleasant to work with. 1. has an attitude toward certain people with specific orientation. 2. Always in a hurry and makes many mistakes - 3. interaction with guests is inconcise, one has to repeart his questions few time. One guest repeated his room number four time before she got it right 4- I complained about 3 things, her only reaction was , "did you tell about it" as if that is what matters the most. 5. room service lacks basic elements - add toiler paper, replace disposable cups 6. Water bottle - love they have eco-awareness, but DO tell guests - do not toss the bottle as you can refll them. 7. Noise level - guest as talking at 11 PM loudly and not guidelines to "just be quite after 10, 11 PM. 8. Car parking - always late, more than 10-13 min to get the cars. 9. Construction on-going, remodeling room, that is fine, but inform guest so we plan ahead. All can be remedies, but poor biased attitude can not be remedied, nor tolerated, and certainly not in SF. Shame, great share. Leave your personal beliefs at home, if you plan to work in hospitality.
- 5/5
Place was amazing!! Staff are friendly, love it!
- 5/5
I personally appreciated the extra security. Rooms are huge and comfortable.
- 5/5
Great room down side was the no AC but it was a great stay amazing staff!!
- 5/5
No air conditioning in the room
- 4/5
The room needed some good air ventilation. But other than that it was good.
- 5/5
Staff were very nice and clean room
- 4/5
Situated very close to public transport including San Francisco's BART rapid transit train station which is linked to the airport (30 min journey) and Market Street which has a range of shops. The location of the property/hotel is also very convenient for walking (if you prefer walking) to a number of key sight-seeing destinations and points of interest etc.
- 5/5
Good staff, clean room,
- 4/5
No air conditioner, had to set up a fan which didn't do much, room was like a solar oven, had to leave the window open all night which went directly into the walkway balcony so no privacy
- 3/5
The area was a nightmare, drunken and drugged people everywhere. They sleeping on sidewalks, unsafe to walk around at any time day or night
- 2/5
The nicest part of this hotel is the parking. It is under renovation but our room was terrible: bad paint job, weird smell, no ac and window that barely opens that looks out to a wall. They nickel and dime you with add on charges for “amenities”, which is daily fee of $20. Parking was $50 a night.
- 5/5
Clean room, attentive staff
- 5/5
I love it and will come back, as a Nigerian I will give it 100/10
- 4/5
Clean room and helpful staff, but the room was very hot
- 4/5
Clean room, easy check in had alot of amenities
- 5/5
Everyone was very nice and accomodating. Love this place and we stay there every year!
- 4/5
Great just didn’t like the area
- 5/5
clean, great customer service
- 3/5
The body wash was completely empty. There was dental floss stuck to the bathroom wall. The outlet by the sink is old and plugs just fall out. The property in general just has an old worn out feel to it.
- 5/5
Good hotel
- 5/5
Na
- 3/5
not great
- 4/5
The only issue I had with this hotel was that there was No air conditioning in the rooms . Given that it was a cooler time of the year we made do with opening the window a bit but in the warmer months this would have been very uncomfortable.
- 4/5
Front desk clerk was on her break when I arrived so I had to wait to check in. Otherwise, my stay was fine…room was clean.
- 4/5
Location is mission and 7th not much to say from there
- 1/5
Stomping above us all night long, naked people with doors open. Called security. Nothing happpened. They couldn't even speak English. Didn't sleep at all. Never coming back
- 5/5
Great location and easy check in.
- 4/5
Lovely room, great pool. unfortunately due to the design the courtyard connecting the rooms create incredibly loud echos from every voice, and we’re heard in the room day and night.
- 5/5
Staff was great, room was clean, but unfortunately, I didn’t particularly feel safe in that area. Take a cab or a Waymo.
- 3/5
The hotel is ok, staff is nice, but the area is not the greatest. I wouldnt recommend walking the area. From our hotel window we witnessed a few people doing drugs. We will not be staying here again.
- 2/5
Room to hot no AC and you shouldn’t be charging for parking room are expensive already to pay for parking
- 4/5
The pool is adorable. Overall a nice hotel. Lots of homeless people in the neighborhood.
- 5/5
The room was so clean and you can tell it's been renovated. The staff was so friendly and made our stay so helpful accommodation some of my mom's requests. While the hotel itself is so nice, the area around it is still a little rough. Not a spot I'd recommend walking back to late at night if you're unfamiliar with the city/by yourself.
- 4/5
We had a nice stay. We would have loved to have a mini fridge and a heater that worked but other than that it was good. We would stay here again.
- 4/5
It’s located by homeless shelters so you’ll see a lot of homeless people on the streets. They didn’t bother us but it could be unsafe. We had great customer service and the staff and cleaning crew were very friendly and helpful.
- 4/5
It was a last minute trip and the price and location was right.
- 5/5
The room was clean, staff was friendly, we were only there for one night and morning so we didn’t get a chance to use the amenities but the pool area looked nice too.
- 1/5
My room had no fridge, no AC. There was one outlet near the sink. There was a ceiling fan that shook all night and made a noise. The walls were dirty, shower was dirty. The neighborhood is completely unsafe. Every uber or Lyft I took said the area was terrible and don’t walk at night. The person in the room next door was smoking weed in his room and my entire room stunk. The rooms that weren’t under construction had people partying or very loud. The walls are so thin I could hear the neighbor throwing up in the morning. Absolutely the worst stay I’ve ever had.
- 4/5
Soma house did great on everything they could control. Front desk staff was very nice and the room was very clean. The guard out front was helpful in reassuring they would keep us safe. All in all, not a bad place when landing in SFO and headed to Napa. In hindsight, i would have preferred staying at the Hyatt at the airport and spend a bit more money for the convenience and vicinity to SFO when landing late night.
- 5/5
Area can be little sketchy, just avoid some streets and you should be fine.
- 4/5
The hotel itself was nice. The area around it was a little sketchy. There were a lot of unhoused people in the area.

The staff were the saving grace of this hotel. It was moderately comfortable, but the room was poorly lit and the environment was extremely noisy. I could hear people talking and shouting and banging doors throughout the night. I complained to the staff and they did what they could, so I'm grateful to them. Breakfast was nice and I enjoyed that each day.

Le prix du parking est très élevé selon moi (50€ la nuit) mais sinon hôtel très propre

Staff was friendly and helpful.

Everything was great! The best part of our stay was the personal attention we received!
- 1/5
There was no microwave, or fridge to keep food in or to reheat. The was no air conditioner in any of the rooms. The outlet in the area of the sink and mirror didn't work. Which means you can't use the mirror or a blow dryer, curling irons etc. in front of the mirror. I got a room with a sitting area with an L shaped couch that had a hide-away bed in it. We weren't told that. We found about that out by accident the last night of our stay. Would have been really helpful since there were 4 of us in the room. The doors were extremely heavy so when they closed it made a very loud noise. They said they had a continental breakfast. Which consisted of bakery items and coffee. They ran out of food and coffee Sunday morning. UNBEVIEVABLE! I would not recommend this place to anyone unless they know what they're getting. I had no idea you had to ask if they provided air conditioners, mini fridge or microwave. I was extremely dissatisfied with this hotel and the cost of it each day. I'd really like a refund on some of this cost.

Great hotel
- 5/5
I do wish we had a refrigerator and air conditioner in the room. But that being said...totally not a game changer for us and would definitely stay again. THE POOL WAS AWSOME!
- 1/5
Terrible experience. All their guests are noisy, loud, and stomp on the ground till 1 am and then resume the stomping game at 6 am… despite calling front desk twice the noise still persisted. People running up and down the halls screaming and slamming doors every single night … , it sounded like bombs were going off the way people kept slamming doors . No air conditioning, no refrigerator in the room. never staying here again.
- 1/5
We spent two night without air conditioning and no breakfast, even though we paid for it !
- 4/5
Very comfortable.
- 5/5
Huele muy limpio, personal muy amable, el desayuno mejor de lo esperado.
- 3/5
The hotel itself was not terrible. Just like the reviews. The lobby was probably the nicest part. Although the breakfast could have been set up in a more efficient way. Also, it would have been nice to have the option to use the amenities instead of being forced to. Not to mention the pool could have been about 10° warmer for being a heated pool. They charge you whether you use them or not. I had no water pressure in the hotel room. It was like having someone spit water at you to wash the shampoo out of your hair. We did have hot water though. All in all it was okay. I don't agree with having to pay for a covered parking space since those parking spaces were put there for the hotel specifically. It should have been one charge for the whole time of parking, not a charge per day. I spent about half as much on parking as I did for the hotel which almost doubled my cost. That's close to a month's worth of my rent where I'm from. Most likely wouldn't stay there again for the price.

The neighborhood is very rough. A lot of junkies around the area and on the streets.
- 5/5
The staff was great very helpful. the rooms need air conditioners
- 5/5
Everything was great I just wish I knew that I had to ask for a fridge in my room they are first come and I never got one other than that it was a great stay
- 3/5
Overall was handled well but our shower wouldn’t drain the first night we checked in and we had to be moved rooms. We requested a check once and they never came and after the second check it was fixed. Overall nice hotel but could have been better.
- 4/5
Very nice staff and nice room, gym was great for a hotel gym as well. Great central location. Only 2 bad things were the bathroom fan didn’t move air and that when I booked it I thought it was a hotel, when in reality it’s an extremely upscale motel with courtyards and open air. Would stay again tho!

Unsafe environment
- 4/5
Close to the Tenderloin.
- 5/5
A very unique design with rooms built around courtyards.
- 5/5
Thank you for the great service and comfortable sleeping!
- 3/5
Lobby is good and clean, but the room no A/C in the hallway bit dirty.
- 3/5
Surrounding area not as safe as id like for my family.
- 3/5
Not a bad place at all in terms of location, obviously will be by the tenderloin. No AC though killed us at night…
- 2/5
Hotel is run down. Renovations in progress so hopefully will be better in the future. No AC in room. Noisy/squeaky ceiling fan. Breakfast options are very limited.
- 4/5
Room was clean and comfortable. The common areas not so much. Enjoyed our stay.
- 3/5
The beds and the staff were the only decent part of our stay at the Soma House. The rooms were dirty and the safe didn’t work. The shower was gross and we bought shower sandals day 1. We ended up having to switch rooms because our window did t lock and you could enter our room from outside. The neighborhood was very unpleasant and not a great are to find food.
- 3/5
Great customer service with limited parking that relies exclusively on their valet service. My room was very warm at night with no ability to cool it off. The television faced a wall instead of either the beds or the couch. This is an older hotel in need of room renovations. The restaurant was under construction when I stayed. My kids loved the heated pool.
- 2/5
The property has some lovely aspects to it - comfy beds and good front desk staff. Unfortunately I had repeat days with no room clean and a flooded bathroom which I raised. I also had a day when I came back at night with the door to my room open and the lights on. I felt very unsafe as did my 12 year old son and this affected our stay.
- 3/5
Not very many dining options
- 5/5
Staff was amazing.
- 3/5
It’s cute but mid-renovation. Our room, which seems to have been recently renovated, had chipped paint and stains on the walls. The bed was comfy, the pool was nice, the staff was very friendly. The facility just needs an overall cleanup. The area is a little dicey and it can get noisy in the open air corridors.
- 3/5
Staff was great, but this hotel is really like a rind down motel. Some renovations are happening. Rooms are ok but again showers and common areas to rooms need updating.
- 3/5
The best part of this hotel is the staff.
- 5/5
Perfect
- 4/5
Honestly, for the price, it was an amazing room there’s construction going around so it’s not all the way there’s still stuff that needs to be fixed but for the price and how amazing the staff was they were extremely friendly and helpful already planning on staying again at my next Giants game!
- 4/5
One small frustration was that housekeeping didn’t replenish toilet paper daily, so we had to request it multiple times. The hotel is located in a more run-down area of San Francisco, but I felt safe thanks to the 24/7 security guard and the requirement to use a room key to enter the lobby and operate the elevator. Overall, I had a good experience, though there’s definitely room for improvement.
- 1/5
Very disappointing stay and nothing like the description and images on the advert. Location is very dangerous and unsafe and is surrounded by drug addicts. Hotel is in poor state of repair and has certainly not be fully renovated as advertised.
- 3/5
No AC. No Microwave, no fridge. Other guest were out partying and playing loud music all night long. Even after calling front desk throughout the night they never sent anyone to quiet or kick out the people disturbing the peace. Never returning.
- 1/5
We had an issue with the single pane window in our room rattling really loudly whenever the wind blew. We reported it to reception who sent a handyman up. Both members of staff were nice but the only way to fix the problem was to stick the window in place, meaning we could not open it. And with no air conditioning, there was no way to cool down the room. We also found a live bug in the bed and the shower cubicle door had come off so a shower curtain was in its place. The hotel did offer to upgrade our room, but we were really put off by the location and the state of the building. The area did not feel safe as there were lots of homeless people around. Although they seemed harmless, I would not walk around there at night. The hotel staff were nice enough but this is NOT a 3 and a half star hotel and I can’t help but think there has been some false advertising here. Check in was easy and the Reception area was very pleasant but the rest of the hotel does not match this.

Great location to Oracle Park for a baseball game. Perfect 1 mile walking distance.
- 5/5
The property was large and nice. Pool on the roof was a nice surprise. Our room was large and clean. The staff was very attentive and nice. Over all would stay here again and recommend.
- 3/5
Old, dusty, smells like humid carpet but does the trick
- 5/5
Nice staff, nice pool and exercise room
- 3/5
Not very clean
- 4/5
Kids yelling outside made it uncomfortable.
- 4/5
Staff was terrific and hard working, rooms clean and spacious, beds comfy, and morning coffee and pastries convenient. Pool was nice too.
- 3/5
The rooms were great but the overall property needs some renovations.
- 4/5
Lovely rooms clean and new. Pool area is small and common hallways near an update.
- 5/5
Rooms very clean
- 4/5
Good amount of coffee and teas.
- 3/5
The overall conditions were misrepresented. The surroundings were dirty and too many vagrants. Did not feel safe at night. Would rate this hotel as one star. The only good thing about the property was a freindly staff
- 2/5
I had low expectations for this property due to the neighborhood but the hotel staff managed to undercut even those in their performance. There is no AC. I asked for a fan and was told one would be delivered to my room. It never was. They tried to charge me for two cars in valet parking when I had one. Also there were nothing more than hand towels available despite fancy white terry cloth robes in the room.
- 1/5
We were drawn to this hotel by its claim of being fully renovated, but that turned out to be completely untrue. The property is still undergoing major renovations, and the experience was far from relaxing. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that the hotel is in the middle of a construction phase. During breakfast in the lobby, we heard several other guests expressing the same frustrations. Here’s what stood out during our stay: • The renovation noise starts as early as 07:50 AM, making it impossible to sleep in. • No cushions at the pool, making it uncomfortable to relax. • Rooms already show damage, especially from housekeeping trolleys scraping the walls. • Chromecast didn’t work, so no streaming options. • We requested daily housekeeping, but it was not provided. We had to go ask for fresh towels ourselves. • Doors slam loudly, and the sound carries throughout the hallways. • At midnight, groups of young people were making noise and smoking weed in the inner courtyards. Despite the disturbance, no action was taken by hotel staff. • Very poor sound insulation – we could hear everything from the hallway and neighboring rooms. This hotel is not ready to host guests and should not advertise itself as fully renovated. Until the works are completed and basic standards are met, I would strongly advise looking elsewhere.

No air conditioning makes the rooms unbearable. Staff seems friendly but is entirely unhelpful. Was repeatedly told they would work on resolving issues in the room and never made any movement towards fixing them. Several times was told it would be addressed and then the staff switched and nothing was done and no one was told. Most of the property looks like it's unliveable once you get past the lobby. The lobby looks cute and nice, and then the hallway to the rooms have renovation tarps lining the windows and look broken and decrepit inside. I ended my stay early, after only staying one night. The one morning I woke up here, the construction teams were using a table saw outside my room at 7:00am. At no other point during normal daytime hours did I witness any work actually being done on the property, only at 7am with very loud tools.
- 4/5
The staff is super friendly and helpful. Some of the rooms are going through a remodel (ie construction) at the moment of this review and I may have stayed in an older section. The room was spacious and clean. The bathroom was very small—the door hits the toilet and was a little challenging to get in and out of. But over all a convenient location and near all the places I needed to go on this trip.
- 4/5
Staff was helpful and professional. Room was small but clean and well-appointed. Found several good places to eat near the hotel.
- 2/5
Neighborhood full of drug addicts and homeless. Not safe to walk around or even walk to public transportation. The actual hotel looked like it was falling apart. The entrance to the hotel is nice, but once you get inside you can see it's old and dilapidated. I Couldn't find a thermostat to warm the room, many rooms closed up because they were falling apart. No microwave, no fridge. I paid less to stay at the hampton inn last week and was completely satisfied with them. I cant even begin to say how disappointed I am after paying $245.00 for this place for one night. Also the continental breakfast consisted of dried out Danish and an orange! Needless to say, I will not refer this hotel, in fact I will be sure to tell my friends and family not to waste their money on this place.

The room wasn’t clean the floor was dirty and it is smell no fridge in the room

Room was a little hot no air conditioning

This hotel looked lovely from the reviews and photos, but the hotel has boarded up rooms, no AC, a leaky faucet, and a very strange vibe all around. It was nothing like the photos.

Went for a short stay the night before a giants game. Close to Oracle park, but lots of homeless people all around area. My 15 yr old son actually saw a hypodermic needle on the corner. We were disappointed about the pool area which had attracted us to the hotel. The pool was full of people drinking alcohol in the pool and playing loud music.
- 5/5
The staff was friendly and the hotel was nice. Kids really enjoyed the heated pool
- 5/5
Everyone here is super nice but the area is super scary.
- 3/5
Looks like property was going through remodel so exterior not as shown on site. Very noisy streets and windows do not keep any of the noise out seemed like very thin walls so everything happening in building cam be heard. Rooms are spacious and clean, good options for coffee and bread in morning.
- 2/5
Average cheap hotel adjacent to a rough area in SF. Short rides to Wharf and other places. Lobby looks newer but the rooms still need some TLC. Bathroom tiles made me regret not bringing shower shoes with me. Only overhead fan in room for cooling. Doors are incredibly loud and you can hear everyone’s conversation outside your room. Some other guests were being extremely loud and disruptive in the middle of the night and hotel management did nothing about it despite multiple calls. Room was cheap for SF and it showed in the quality of the room. Breakfast was a few pastries and some egg bites. Valet parking had a “Summer Sale” for $68 unlimited in and out privileges. Overall an unpleasant experience and will not stay again.

Bad bad motel, it is now a hotel is a dirty motel. Carzy guests yelling all night long, front deck never answer the phone. Overall the most expensive parking in town!Do not stay here!!!!!

Great stay.
