Great location. Some wear is normal but this has been neglected. Beware the design of the hotel makes for a lot of noise. The rooms all open to a tiled hall, every sound echoes from both floors. Staff was great, breakfast was adequate. The neighborhood is outstanding. Great nightlife, shops restaurants!

traveled with my partner, rooms are much smaller than in the pictures, but it’s clean and comfortable if you want to walk around and see the city, breakfast is not good there’s only cereal, waffle and cheap snacks so we never ate there

The front door was abit faulty when closing —pulling really hard to ensure it was closed or shoving it hard from the inside to close. The bathroom floor around the tub seemed to have mold/ black matter on them —humid in bathroom I’m sure but still needed more attention when cleaning.

We went here for a family trip… I chose this location because it’s good reviews and reasonable price however after visiting I would not book again. The parking is limited and on a first come first serve basis, which is not ideal at all as there is not much street parking. The room had a broken lock, missing fire alarm, and broken off the wall soap dispenser. The stairs up to our room had sticky material that wasn’t able to be cleaned off as i saw housekeeping daily yet the sticky material was there daily. The shower was clean however still felt dirty as it had dirt brown residue all over so we did not feel comfortable with the shower. The floor in the room was clean however same it looked to be dirty. Possibly it could just need renovations as it might be clean just very outdated and wear and tear felt dirty.

Nothing. Tv didn’t work. Falsely advertised In photos. Yes, it looks renovated, but it’s extremely disgusting and dirty. Plank flooring lifting. Hairs in the bed. Floors black and dirty. We ended up leaving. It felt dirty and like a health hazard. Smelled weird.

My room was spacious and clean. The bed was very comfortable. The location is excellent for being in the heart of the Marina District. I requested assistance with adjusting the temperature in my room and never received a response. I had a horrible experience with one of the front desk staff members. The breakfast area was very minimal and low quality items available, including poor coffee. I would never stay at this property again, nor would I recommend it to others.

The continental breakfast and coffee were nice. They had a waffle machine downstairs, along with fruit, yogurt, cereal, and oatmeal options. Since it was cold during the weekend, I turned on the heater in the room and it worked perfectly. My room also had a microwave and a spacious fridge, which was very convenient. There was also a desk area that made it easy to get ready. Overall, it was a comfortable stay.

However, there are some downsides. The parking is extremely tight; you have to unload all passengers and luggage first and then somehow squeeze out of the car yourself. The staff is also very loud, and it was unpleasant being woken up by their shouting. The condition of the rooms is mediocre: the toilet paper holder was broken, so the roll was just sitting on the toilet tank. What’s worse, it wasn't even a new roll — they didn't even bother to change it after the previous guests. I’ve never seen anything like it before.

Basic, no frills hotel, could use a refresh all around. Would consider staying again due to location and price, but would check other options nearby first. Room is noisy and you can feel floor shake when people are walking, I was on top floor but I can imagine bottom floor would be much louder and not good for light sleepers. I slept w earplugs and was fine. Cleanliness and upkeep wasn’t great, but it is a budget stay in an older building, so I wasn’t expecting much. Shower curtain holder was falling off, which is a pain when trying to shower, towel holder was loose too, maintenance just seems to not be maintained. Lobby restroom should definitely be refreshed, it’s a little rough, and breakfast is served right outside the bathroom. The younger woman working the desk at checkout was lovely, very friendly and helpful.

Conveniently located in Marina District Room was clean. Housekeeping staff helpful Paid for suite with fireplace. Fireplace did not work. Informed front desk and was told “it doesn’t work” TV remote not working. Smoke detector missing with loose wires hanging from bracket. Electrical outlet under desk not secured into box and was sticking out past wall with bare wires exposed. Toilet paper holder missing with exposed hole in wall. TP roll’s sitting on floor beside toilet When hair dryer plugged into wall socket bathroom lights turn off

The property was nice for the price. The Breakfast was good for what I had expected. My room wasn’t cleaned by time i got back at 4:30 in the afternoon but I really didn’t need it, so I gave the woman my trash I wanted taken out. I had made my own bed that morning so there was nothing really for her to do. I’d stay again. Also I was traveling Solo, as a woman I felt comfortable with the hotel.

The hotel is great for a few days in san francisco. It sits on a fairly busy street but the public transport is very handy. Breakfast isn't up to much but it's more than most provide. The location is slightly suburban, but is quiet. There are several available bus routes and may be convinent. There aren't many small restaurants nearby, so I suggest eating a proper meal before taking public transport back. The top floor is the second floor. Although there's no elevator, my luggage wasn't heavy, so I could still carry it up. Some hotels in Japan don't provide elevators for passengers, but they do provide elevators for luggage. I'm not sure if this hotel has that facility.

Although our ‘Suite’ was right by the street it was surprisingly not too loud. The place itself doesn't look too bad, the issue with our stay was that the suite we stayed in had been trashed the night before (confirmed with front desk). Some floorboards had gaps between them and my lady almost fell because of that. The toilet paper holder was holding on for its life, and the toiled seat was crooked. Cigarette smell while walking in was also unpleasant, we had to open the window and leave the fan on while we were away. I understand this couldn't have been anticipated but i believe we should have gotten some kind of discount for the place being like this upon arriving.

Front staff was rude most of the time. had requested adjacent rooms and they told me I had to check in early for that, parking was an issue most of the stay, they do parking reservations but they say they don’t over the phone, bathrooms needs to be updated.

Bed was comfortable and location was good Best Western has always been an incredible option for me. On this trip, I chose to stay twice at two different Best Western properties because I trust the brand. In Yosemite, I stayed at Best Western Yosemite Gateway Inn, and it exceeded all my expectations. It was very clean, the staff was excellent, the property was wonderful, and I felt comfortable and safe at all times. However, I am currently staying at Best Western SureStay in San Francisco, and the experience has been a nightmare. When we arrived, we were informed that parking might not be available. While I understand limited parking can happen, the staff was not helpful at all and did nothing to assist us in finding a solution. The room itself is not clean. When walking barefoot, you can clearly feel and see that the floor is dirty. But the most frightening part happened last night. While I was trying to sleep, two people right outside my room got into a physical fight. They were screaming at each other, shouting slurs, and hitting each other. The fight went on for what felt like 30 minutes to an hour. I was shaking in fear in my bed the entire time. I could hear the blows and the yelling, and no one intervened. No one stopped it. I felt completely unsafe. It was a terrible experience. I barely slept. I woke up exhausted, and next day plans in San Francisco were affected because I was so tired and shaken. This strongly compromised my overall trip experience. I am deeply disappointed because Best Western had always been a reliable and safe option for me. I don’t know what can be done at this point whether a refund, compensation, or at the very least a warning on the listing that this property may not be safe but I felt it was important to formally report this situation.

Location was near where I wanted to go. I didn't have breakfast but I was told about it. The room was okay had what it needed lots of room to store the things I had. Mirror was big and bright which was nice. The safety lock on top of the door in my room was missing so that was concering and made me feel unsafe but luckly no one came into my room as I slept. Also as I walked on one side of my room it kept creeking so something wrong with the flooring maybe wasn't a big deal I just slept on the other side. Problem the wall was thin so you can hear people next door and at the time I stayed there were people making loud nosies.

Staff were pleasant and generally helpful - but this hotel has seen better days. My sheets etc. were clean but there was a lot of long dark hair in the shower and occasionally on the towels (may have been picked up off the counter but I have very short and light hair). Bathtub mat definitely needed to be replaced and made me worry about nail fungus. Honestly I don’t want this to be a mean review but I was really put off by the superficial fixes and general sense of a lack of cleanliness (to be clear, it’s cleanliness beyond what a staff person can do in a shift. The place needs a full refurbishment if it’s to get business travellers). The staff I encountered were helpful and pleasant, and the bed itself was comfortable and clean. I travel a lot and always do a bedbug check (even high end places) and there was no evidence that it had any issues.

If you can, skip this place! There is no parking!!!! We got there late after a long road day, only to find out there was no parking and we had to leave our vehicle on the streets. I didn't realize when booking this place this is actually a motel, not a hotel!!! So your room door is actually facing a public area. To add insult to the injury the room rate was around $170.00 and the deposit they charged our account was $200!! It was completely ridiculous.

I was disappointed with my stay at this hotel. The room was much smaller than expected, and the bed was uncomfortable. The bathroom had visible mold stains, which was very concerning, and the door wouldn’t close properly unless it was slammed. I ended up staying only one night and had to cancel the rest of my reservation to book another hotel. Overall, it did not meet my expectations.

Location Free parking. And it’s covered! The staff, both at the front desk and the cleaning crew. The room was updated. The bad… NO ELEVATOR!!! MUST WALK UP STAIRS even to the 1st floor! The person at the front desk did offer to help though. Parking is very limited. We did get a spot and didn’t move the car much, and walked mostly. The building is old. The breakfast area is very small and not a lot of selection. Compared to other hotels, it’s not very good. Rooms are in an open courtyard and you hear everything. Outside the rooms is concrete not carpet so you hear the cleaning carts, people talking and rolling their luggage by, etc. Can also hear the road noise and we were located 1/2 way down the courtyard. Our first night, people were talking loudly for over 30 minutes at 2 am. We called the front desk and they did respond. Took another 15 minutes to resolve. Darth Refrigerator was a frequent visitor in our room. It constantly made a weird noise. You can’t unplug it either. It’s relentless. Cell phone service 1 bar (not the hotel’s fault) and WIFI was extrememly slow. Wad of long black hair in shower drain. Yuck! Hair dryer in our room didn’t work (of course found this out after showering) asked front desk for one and they said it’s locked up in house cleaning closet. Had to wait 1 hour for one. Toilet wasn’t bolted down and slid to side 1/2 in. The safe was a good size, but was not bolted down to anything! You can easily walk off with it. We would not recommend.

The advertised breakfast was a major disappointment. We arrived around 7:15 a.m., but the only option available was cereal—and there was no more milk. After speaking with the staff, it became clear that breakfast items were not being restocked, which forced us to find a nearby restaurant and adjust our travel plans. The room also left much to be desired. It had a persistent unpleasant odor, especially noticeable when the air conditioning was turned on. On top of that, the AC unit was very loud, making it difficult to relax or get a good night’s sleep. While the location and staff were positives, the poor room conditions and lack of breakfast service significantly impacted our overall experience.

The parking situation was less than stellar. Only a few spots available on a first come, first served basis. The two bay doors were open all night even though there were signs posted throughout the garage notifying guests of the high crime rate in the area. The room was clean but had a strong dank, musty smell that got worse when the air conditioner would kick in. The bathroom tub was dated and stained and the pillowcases were either stained or had not been cleaned after the previous guest. In between the two double beds was a nightstand with a lamp and two electrical outlets. I use a CPAP machine to sleep and it wouldn’t work on either outlet. I called the front desk to inquire and he said that if the lamp worked then the outlets should be working. My husband pulled the panel out to check the wiring and it was a rat’s nest of wires. Wall mount face plate appears to be just a power bar screwed into the wall plugged into another power bar which is plugged into another hidden outlet. He wiggled the wires until the power bar worked but then I was worried all night about an electrical short. Walls were paper thin. You could hear everything. This hotel might be okay in a pinch but definitely not worth $100+ for a night.

This hotel listed free parking, which was true. It didn't indicate that there were only 8-10 spots available and it is first come first serve. I had to park in a paid parking garage down a block. It would have been nice to know that. The area around the hotel seemed fairly safe but there was a homeless person digging through the garbage at the end of the parking area.

The room was clean and nice and bed was comfortable. Bathroom was clean and towels were good. That's the most important thing to me. Outside of the rooms was kind of dirty and there are the brightest lights I've ever seen that shine in your windows all night and make you think it's day time. The curtains don't block those lights. In fact, our curtain hangers were broken on one end. We also didn't have a stopper in our sink which affects things and I requested to have it fixed but it wasn't done while we were there. Light in shower/toilet room is exceptionally dim. Good area of SF for walking to things but not the greatest block. Front desk people were very nice and helpful. Need more space for breakfast. Always packed. Overall for the price I guess we got what we paid for.

I parked in front of hotel on the street I did not block a garage or entry way. There were no parking signs visible. I woke up with a 100 dollar parking ticket. As noted by other reviews, the seating area is quite small but it seemed fine to take breakfast back to our rooms if they were busy. It was just an ok place. Reason we picked it was for free parking, wasn’t going to spend $85 per night to park. Place was old and outdated. Continental breakfast was one waffle maker, yogurts, bananas, two cereals and coffee. Placed was always packed and couldn’t get anything. Room was clean but outdated. No blackout curtains and outside lights were on all night beaming into the room. Every night we heard people coming in yelling and running around at 2-3 in the morning. It was over a mile away from the piers so be prepared for a walk and walking back with our family at night was a bit scary with the homeless and people under the influence. Would not recommend. Location was pretty good for exploring the wharf area and Golden Gate Bridge area. One of the reasons we picked this hotel is because of the continental breakfast. However, the breakfast had very limited options. My son can't eat dairy, and the ONLY non-dairy option was oatmeal packets, which he doesn't like. (they also had two types of cereal, but no non-dairy milk, waffles, coffee, orange and apple juice, apples, yogurt - no non-dairy options). Even toast or bagels (which I feel like is pretty standard) would've been great. So I ended up having to find breakfast for us anyway. Our first day there we came back around 9pm and our key cards for our room weren't working. When we went to get help, the front desk person wasn't at the office (there was a sign on the locked door saying "back in 10 minutes). We waited for over 20 minutes on the sidewalk in the cold, my son incredibly tired. The person did finally come back and we were able to get into our room, but not the best experience. The refrigerator froze our food. There was no cold water in the sink, only scalding hot water. We had to wash our hands in the tub. We let them know these things - hopefully they get them fixed before the next people use that room! I guess you get what you pay for.

The hotel is located well on Lombard st. Lots of dinning options very close by. Easy public transport options close by. Staff were easy to deal with and talk too. Hotel parking is free if at property early enough which is very convenient. Request to stay at back of building. Very loud if near stairs or road due to baggage banging on stairs and tiles, guests talking loud after good night out and just general road noise. Bed was comfortable except pillows are like lounge cushions and near non existent as a pillow. Take your own if you can. Towels were like tea towels, very thin and hard to dry yourself properly. Absolutely happy with the location on Lombard street. Close to fisherman's warf with public transportation or $10 drive via Uber. Free parking is a highlight not to be unnoticed.

Then he said we could have us pay $25 for another car parking. He had the worst attitude!!!! Not helpful at all!! Train your people better and teach them how to run a hotel before leaving them alone !!!

The hotel was clean. No elevator, hard with lot of luggage, luckily my bf helped me. Parking is limited and first come, first serve. Tight spaces. Staff was excellent and nice.
