Location tops in SF on Nob Hill. View was great of Nob Hill, Cathedral, Park, PUC, pre war apartments. Room was fresh and modern as was the bathroom. The closet had a nice chest of drawers on one side, robes and slippers. Nice wooden hangers. Iron, ironing board. The TV was easy to use as was the phone. Though not as quietly elegant as the old Huntington, the hotel still retains the aura of a private club or fully attended apartment house. The fitness center is large, windowed with views, well equipped for cardio and strength but could use a good table for stretching and prone exercises. A clock would be nice. There is an elegant separate spa with a pool which I didn't use. FOOD/Drink, in the Big Four restaurant, was excellent. Coffee excellent but see below. I had dinner, breakfast, and a late snack. I very smart bar and cafe is to open at the opposite end of the lobby from the famous Big Four restaurant. The room was not well-designed. Instead of a nice table and a couple of chairs in the window, or a desk and chair, there was a large, ostentatious mini/coffee bar. No place to sit except the King-sized bed. The bathroom had a couple of hooks but no towel racks. The nice shower had no safety mat on the marble floor, very slippery. They were skimpy on amenities. Bottled water in the room was not free. In The Big Four, the service was slow and in a couple of instances, lacking in polish and attention to detail. For example, in such a place, one shouldn't be addressed 'you guys' or asked near the end of a course 'still working.' As an American, I like my coffee and dessert together. If the dessert takes some time, ok, but don't bring the coffee out alone to get cold.

The view is beautiful, but the hotel is old. The staff is nice but easily flustered. The suite we were given as a complimentary upgrade was nice, but the furniture was uncomfortable. There was mold on the ceiling of the shower in our regular room. After they add the spa fee (even though it wasn't functional for the weekend), taxes, and valet fee - it cost basically the same as the Four Seasons. It is Not the Four Seasons. If I had to do it over, I'd stay at the Omni. Much more bang for your buck.

The moment that our car pulled up to the hotel, we knew that we’d made the right choice to stay at the Huntington. The valet was informative, and his good natured warmth made us feel immediately welcome. Likewise with the porter when we were checking out. The rooms were well maintained, and we received an upgrade. The one disappointment was the gym facility, which was rather limited with one working machine. We’d definitely stay at this hotel again. A great location with amenities nearby.

The view from our room was spectacular! Room was nicely decorated and large. The beds were super comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. The Big Four restaurant right there was very convenient and the food was 5 star! The location is perfect. Convenient to access everything. We did a walking tour and it was the perfect starting point. Would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here again! The only disappointment was that the complimentary wifi we had with our package was weak and inconsistent. Otherwise, we loved our stay!

The air conditioning was broken in the entire hotel during our stay. This wasn't a big deal for us, since the outdoor temps go down at night, but it might be worth asking about it when you book if you are someone who likes to manage the room temp with AC. And the big caveat: the hotel's first two photos on this site are of a really nice-looking indoor pool. This was one of the reasons we booked it. But the pool isn't usable by any guests under 16. It is only usable from Fri-Sun if you book a spa treatment ($160 and up.) And during the week if you want to use the pool/whirlpool and are over 16, there is a $40 access fee. Just worth knowing before you book this hotel to use the pool... The staff is really friendly and helpful. We booked a suite on the 8th floor and it was incredibly spacious, with great views. There is coffee and biscotti in the lobby every morning, and a bowl of fruit in the afternoon. We also had a rental car, and found free overnight parking spots in the neighborhood around the hotel pretty easily. Most of the spots allow you to park overnight for free, but you must move your car by 10 AM.

Nonetheless a pocket-picketing $35 daily ‘resort fee’. The worst was to be forced to upgrade to a more expensive room upon check-in, which at 1am I was not going to argue about. I took it up with the manager at check-out. So many nice places to stay in SF. The Huntington is not one of them.

The 2 room suite at the Huntington was vast (20’ x 35’ living room), superbly decorated and not overly expensive. There was complete separation of the bedroom from living room. If you are inviting guests or clients the suite is sure to impress. Room service was expensive ($125 for 2 gratuity included) but the food was delicious, served hot with a flourish in the living room, and came complete with fresh flowers and extra bread. The Huntington is a ”Gilded Age” older hotel, top of Nob Hill, quiet, reserved, elegant, outside the trendy tech corridors, and the view of the Cathedral is most serene. A cabbie told me it is reputed to have the best bartender in San Francisco but this sober person cannot vouch for that. However, the rollicking laughter coming out of the crowded bar indicated the compliment was true. Although advertised, the pool has few open hours and restricted availability ( i. e. closed on holidays), so call the hotel and ask before you reserve if you plan on swimming.

Everyone was super nice and helpful. Except for the doorman who was rude from start to finish. Never opened the door for us, or any other guests as far as I saw, and did not greet us once. In fact, glared at us, rolled his eyes and scoffed when we open our own door and left it open accidentally as we were struggling to roll in all of our luggage. It was kind of amazing how rude he was. I can deal with my own luggage, that's fine- Maybe just don't get angry with us for walking in the door.

The hotel is located at the top of an extremely steep hill with excellent views, but a tough walk for most people if you plan on traveling by foot. The cable car picks up close by and it’s a short walk to many places. The lobby was once very nice, but some things were a little worn and needing update. Our room had a corner view of the city and Grace Cathedral. The room was very clean and nice. The bathroom was on the small side. We went with a city view Jr. Suite and we looked out at a wall from across the street. We saw no city at all. Unless you are on the upper floors, you won't see the city, so don't bother purchasing those rooms. They were nice enough to more us up one floor, which was nice, but not a lot better. I think the park view rooms would be better, maybe not as large, but you would get the view you want. The pool and sun deck are for the spa patrons only on the weekend. We brought our bathing suits, but couldn't use the pool. We might stay here again because the location was great, but I wish I would have known some of these things before hand.

Hotel advertised pool and jacuzzi but you cannot use on weekends unless you book a spa treatment. Lady who works at front desk couldn't give a st. Spent a lot of money and could not use facilities. They should post online that not available on we

The blankets were not comfortable & our initial room was meant to have "stunning views" but actually faced a tall wall of the next door church. However, when we informed the hotel staff, they promptly gave us a large room with panoramic views of the city.

No mini bar and limited room service over night but the hotel makes up in ways most places fall down.

The interior design is simply horrible. We had only been in the bar previously and had no idea that the furnishings would be so inelegant. I understand having some fun in decorating but this is too much.

The pool area staff need to be much more welcoming to teenagers. My kids were made to feel very unwelcome in the pool area.

The smell in the rooms was some sort of scent that appeared to mask another smell. It was overwhelming even after windows opened; I requested prior to arrival, no down because of severe allergic reaction to feathers: there were six down pillows in room

It's a refurbished historic building, but done in excellent taste, preserving interesting details while incorporating modern comforts. The rooms and common areas are immaculately clean. The staff are helpful and welcoming. Nothing.

The overall 'polish' was outstanding. Many hotels purport to be luxury hotels, but the Huntington truly felt like a luxury in all aspects. It was somewhat isolated from more exciting neighborhoods and nightlife. This would be both a blessing and a small concern.
