Reviews
The hotel is praised for its proximity to the beach and public transportation, as well as its affordable price. However, guests frequently complain about cleanliness issues, noise from the street and neighboring rooms, and lack of amenities such as elevators and sound insulation.

The hotel was updated and very clean. They had a skylight in the bathroom , which provided more light into the room. Great location for us since our son lives in that neighborhood.. It is just a place to sleep because there's nothing to do on the property itself. It just provides sleeping , there's no amenities

There was a bit of construction in the area and you have to be there by 10-10:30 to get keys Great bargain and nice room No lobby attendant overnight

The location was great.
- 4/5
GREAT location! Right by the beach, a lovely cafe, and the train that runs across the city. 1 mile from Safeway and a couple of blocks from the park. Good walking paths. Lots of cute cafes up the road. The train right under my window wasn't great. Next time I'll request a 3rd floor room facing La Playa, not Judah. The maid did a great job of cleaning, but took the dirty towel and didn't replace it with a clean one. Not an issue this time, or I would have said something, just a bit odd.
- 4.5/5
Room was much nicer than we expected. The staff was very accommodating to our requests. We meant to book a different hotel a few miles away. So, for us the location could have been a bit better. However, given the extra travel time we needed, the facility was fine and the room was nice.
- 5/5
The NJudah train outside the door was great. We parked and used public transportation all weekend. The room was super clean. We had 2 rooms and the second one was a little small, but clean and comfortable

Excellent location with easy access to public transport and close proximity to Golden Gate Park. We also really enjoyed the nearby cafés and the pleasant, relaxed atmosphere of the neighbourhood. Great area for jogging and walking, especially along Ocean Beach and near Golden Gate Park. The coastal location was very enjoyable. There was some noise from the nearby tram stop, although after busy sightseeing days it did not bother us much. It could be quite windy on some days.

The muni tram stops right outside the door that you can take into the city and Java Beach cafe is right next door. Its a great location if you like walking on or by the beach. The motel itself is pretty basic. The rooms have been nicely renovated. Good bed, nice shower, large tv with good programming. The fridge has no freezer but there is a microwave and coffee maker. We were in room 132 and the door is a bit off kilter and makes a noise all night. If management reads this mayb they can fix it. Also there are a lot of stairs to the rooms so its no good if you are not fit! Great location though.
- 3.5/5
Good size and clean room, close to the beach and quiet neighborhood. Take some practice but easy to access the local museums and the Park. Next the M muni transit station. Good restaurants within walking distance. The over head light is extremely bright. We kept them off. There is no table and bed side light. Only one build in USB charger works.

There was plenty of parking available when we arrived on Thursday and I had no concerns about the safety of the car. When we checked in the staff noticed that I had booked a room with a single bed for my sister and I and let us take a room with two beds at no extra charge which was so nice! Our room had a view of the ocean and it was clean with comfortable beds, a fridge, and microwave. The location is great since you can walk right onto the beach or to Golden Gate park, and the N Judah line stops right across the street. I would highly recommend for a reasonably priced and comfortable stay in San Francisco!

Right on the coast / the water, great walking, beautiful view. Hot water issues. No hot water in the room. Small coffee pot was broken and didn't brew coffee. :( Beds and pillows were GREAT. Clean. Comfortable. Clean towels. Soap and lotion. AC worked very nicely. The room was far more spacious than we thought. Mini-fridge! It worked great. The hotel, overall, is loud. It is adjacent to the train. Not a huge deal, but for light sleepers, may be an issue. Check out = EASY and fast. Overall, cost-effective and if you are looking for a positive, but "economy" experience, this is it. Close to SFSU!

Parking is tight. It can be “noisy,” but I bring ear plugs so that wasn’t a problem. Rooms were decent and the beach and other places were walking distance.
- 4.5/5
Location, location, location!!
- 4/5
There was no elevator, so I had to carry my suitcase up to the 3rd floor. The walls are a bit thin, so its easy to hear what your neighbors are watching on TV.

Was in a great location besides the noise from muni Was put in a room right next to muni could not get a good night sleep. Also on Booking.com it said 1 free parking spot but when I showed up it was first come first serve and wasn’t being monitored so I noticed the neighborhood was also parking there. I couldn’t find parking anywhere around it either.
- 3/5
location facility needed work and update
- 5/5
Awesome location and parking!
- 5/5
Judah Street Muni Train runs out in front during the day. Very convevient for tides down the line (i.e. Restaurants, Haight Street and Downtown) Coffee place (Java Beach) is next door, Ocean Beach Access is across the street, and it's only a few blocks to Golden Gate Park.
- 5/5
Old place done up well. Right next the beach and Judah street eats.
- 4/5
The location was excellent. We were right next to the beach. The room was clean, cozy and comfortable. Parking was free and right next to our room. We had free WiFi. There was a small kitchenette with a full size fridge. It was a bit noisy at night.
- 5/5
Although the outside was old and weathered, the room was large, clean, remodeled and fantastic. Well worth the price.
- 4/5
Great location! The beach is pretty much across the street! Cute neighborhood! A few restaurants and a surf vibe. The room was clean, had a huge TV and free parking in SF is a life saver! My room was on the main street and I could here the trollies all night. Request a room in the back of the hotel if you're a light sleeper.
- 5/5
The room was nice. The bed was comfortable, the pillows were great and the shower was amazing! Great location at the beach and right on the metro station.
- 4/5

- 5/5
Nice stay by the beach. Thanks !
- 2/5
The room looked clean, but the mattress had coils in it that were emanating some type of radiation that made me feel like it was leaving me weak just lying in it. The sheets were creepy crawly. The bathwater bit me. Looks can be deceiving. This place was evil.
- 5/5
Loved the cleanliness of the whole property, and the staff was very accomodating. Will definitely stay there again.
- 4/5
Rooms very clean. Easy check-in. Great location. Stayed on the 1st floor...very thin ceiling when it comes to noise. Walking or moving on floor above is loud and will wake you up. Request a 2nd floor room.
- 5/5
The room was neat and clean. Everything ran smoothly. Superb location- walking distance from everywhere. Saved me a lot of time considering it was just a one day trip
- 4/5
Room was clean and comfortable.
- 5/5
Property has been there for many years. However, the rooms look like they were recently remodeled. Nicely painted and bathrooms look newly remodeled. New flooring as well. We had room on the third floor. Was quiet and had two queens. The view looked out towards the beach. We could see the beach and ocean between the buildings. I’d stay here again.
- 5/5
This place was perfect. Huge, clean room with great view and quiet vibe. Fronting the beach, great amenities around - we couldn't have asked for a better place for a girls' weekend together. Staff was friendly too!
- 4/5
Old classic building nicely updated. Location is stellar, one block to the ocean. And rooms with water views. Convenient yummy restaurants, bars, coffee shops within a block. Room was well appointed. I was in 2 queen beds room on top floor which was extra special with a skylight in the bathroom! Onsite parking. But fyi for some, there is no elevator.
- 5/5

- 5/5
Stayed here 3x this year already. The room is very clean and no any kind of smell. Parking is free. Highly recommended.
- 4/5
It is a decent place to stay. Convenient location and close to transportation, coffee shops, bakery or restaurants. Clean room and helpful staff. Close to the Ocean - you can enjoy your walk on the beach.
- 5/5
The room was clean and comfortable. The location was unbeatable.
- 3/5

- 5/5

It was an excellent stay. Thank you so much
- 5/5
Tight parking, limited spots
- 4/5
Not only is this motel conveniently located right at the end of the N Judah train line, which makes transportation very easy, but it also has the history of being the last place that Brad Nowell, of Sublime, spent his last hours. I didn’t know this until a security guard at the bar down the street told me on my last stay. Access to the beach is a short walk and Golden gat park is very close by. Free parking is always awesome in SF as well.
- 1/5
Hotel is NOT ADA compliant despite their claim. Front desk agent insisted that “just one flight of stairs” was accessible and would be fine for me (a wheelchair user) then after calling for a refund because we could not stay there the manager called and yelled at me the next day insisting again that they are accessible.
- 3/5
The offsite location was a dangerous walk. There is no elevator. Good access to the ocean and metro.
- 4/5
It also had A/C - which even in the city, rooms can get warm so it's a must for me. And I was happy to have a microwave and fridge. The room also had room darkening shutters and it was quiet - so I slept really well. Parking on site was easy and free, which in the city is a big plus! The hotel is a very short walk to the beach and there's a great coffee shop near by, and a great taco truck! The hote is right by where the trains turn around - but inside the hotel and room I couldn't hear them. I was traveling alone visiting family and I felt very safe and comfortable in the hotel and being able to park on site. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 for two reasons. First is the location. While very close to the beach, it may look/feel a little 'iffy'. But again, I felt safe at the hotel and in my room. All the rooms are accessed inside and you have to have a key card to enter. The second reason is they don't have an elevator and rooms are on the 2nd and 3rd floors. But overall this was a very affordable great little hotel with nice, clean rooms and everything I wanted and needed. I will absolutely be staying here again.
- 5/5
Convenient and easy to get to.
- 4/5
The hotel is in a central location in the Sunset District. It looks questionable from the outside, but is a gem on the inside. Clean and newly renovated. Overall it was a nice experience.
- 4/5
Perfect location for Ocean Beach, good price, clean comfortable room.
- 5/5
Close to Ocean beach. Good parking. Very quiet with large nice rooms.
- 3/5
The bed was decent. I did NOT get bitten by bedbugs and I did NOT hear rodents running around. I also had a warm shower. The inn is across Ocean Beach and I had wonderful walk up to Land's End. It was awesome! I did not see house-less people or anyone loitering at the motel so another plus. There is a wonderful cafe for coffee in the morning at the corner of the block. Having said that you get what you pay for: The door to the room radiated light underneath and walls are very thin. I was on my guard the entire time. If I was traveling solo as a woman, I would not have felt safe. But it was clean.
- 4/5
This is a great find — really cheap for SF, big rooms, near the park and the beach. (Be sure to take a walk in Sunset Dunes, the now-closed Great Highway.) Check out Java Beach, next door, and Pitt’s Pub, a block away. Only complaint was that the soap dispenser in the shower was empty and the shampoo almost was.
- 5/5
Great spot right near the ocean. Clean, quiet, and really nice for the price! Great parking and easy to get to Golden Gate Park.
- 4/5
Nice, clean, quiet. We enjoyed the simplicity. Just across the street from the Ocean made it easy to skip out for a walk.
- 4/5
The front desk manager was so accommodating and the room was large, plus parking was free and I felt very safe there, especially for San Francisco!
- 5/5
The staff went above and beyond for us.
- 5/5
Stayed for one night while in SF and I would stay again. The area felt safe and the free onsite parking felt secure. The front desk was very helpful. The room looked updated and was comfortable and quiet.
- 5/5
The person at the counter was very nice.
- 4/5
Great location relative to the coastline for walks, and next door to the best local coffee shop in the area.
- 5/5
On Ocean Beach Great rooms Free secure parking
- 5/5
I was concerned walking in. It looks/is old- HOWEVER-it was one of the cleaniest property i have ever stayed in- down to the baseboards. It is not fancy, yet has all you need.fridge, microwave, blow dryer and a very comfortable bed.if we return to the area, we will stay again.
- 4/5
Easy parking, rooms very nice and clean
- 5/5
Exceptional! Great place. Highly recommend.
- 4/5
This hotel is NOT ADA compliant and is not arthitic knee friendly.
- 4/5
For the price it was worth the stay. Conveniently located next to the beach. Good coffee/tea cafes nearby.
- 5/5
No breakfast included but you can’t beat the price for staying in San Francisco close to the beach.
- 5/5
The property was old but it shows newly renovated and the inside is clean and no smell. The guy in the reception was very nice and accommodating. Parking was free based on availability but its not gated. I cannot say about the total safety of the area but I will stay again as needed.
- 5/5
Standard hotel, close to the beach and right across a trolley station. Quiet in the surrounding area, spacious and clean room and bathroom. Close to Golden Gate Park and the SF Zoo. Will return. Free parking was a great bonus, first come first serve though
- 4/5
There was a lot of commotion due to the train being right outside but that was to be expected. Otherwise a great stay all around. Good value.
- 5/5
Very clean room also was able to check in early wich was very great 👍
- 4/5
Included parking was a plus. Lots of restaurants within walking distance. Hotel is old but well maintained. Bed was comfortable and the heating worked well in chilly SF. No elevator so if that is important this may not work for you. Certainly worth the money if you are looking for a convenient place to stay. Just be aware that the beaches in SF are cold and foggy so this is not a beach place. We would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Very easy, great price, huge room, lovely oceanside location. It's bare bones and the outside is a bit rough looking, but overall value is incredible. I usually stay in up market places, but this will be my go to in the Sunset
- 4/5
Inside and outside skylight needs cleaning
- 4/5
Not the most upscale but great bargain compared to others in the area; great location one block from beach, train right outside the door, and walkable to several restaurants and stores
- 4/5
Large rooms . Clean. Good location. Not new but ok
- 5/5
Close to the beach
- 5/5
Great stay and great location.
- 4/5
Nice clean Hotel that's a 2 min walk to Ocean Beach.
- 4/5
Nice room. Great location. Wish I could have stayed longer
- 3/5
This is an inexpensive hotel with no amenties. The property is clean but is showing its age. Location is one block from Ocean Beach, so great if you're a surfer or like to walk on the beach. Golden Gate is within walking distance, but all of the museums are a long ways East. The hotel is on the same street as the N Judah trolley, which can take you downtown. There are no rooms at ground level, and there is no elevator in this 4-story building, so it's not ADA friendly.
- 4/5
The shower didn’t get hot enough.
- 4/5
If you are staying for the beach experience and don't care about amenities, it's the spot. Bring ear plugs and you will be set. Very relaxed and laid back area and you can take public transportation to anywhere in the city from that point.
- 4/5
Everything was good. Clean. The only thing was they do not have an elevator and we stayed on the 3rd floor. It was ok though if you go up an down without heavy luggages. I sleep deep but i always wake up if the doors from other rooms are closing. Other than that its ok and very convenient, train in front of the hotel goes straight to the pier.
- 4/5
The staff was pleasant. The room was nice. Having the beach across the street was a real pleasure. Really convenient for public transportation. But trains are pretty loud so not the place to stay if you’re a light sleeper
- 3/5
This is a tidy but very plain pension with no elevator and 3 flights of stairs. Very basic coffeemaker in room and a show machine are the amenities. The coffeehouse next door made up for what the property lacked.
- 5/5
If wanting to stay near Ocean Beach, this place is great. Right next to Muni and steps to the beach and Golden Gate Park. It’s a little old, but rooms are nice and clean.
- 5/5
I've stayed here twice and enjoyed each experience. Nothing beats on site parking and being steps away from the beach. Only con was that they were playing Fox News in the lobby.
- 4/5
Clean and a great location!!
- 4/5
Parking area was tight but expected. Bed was comfortable, room was spacious. Only issue we had was we had left super early in the morning and when we came back to shower before check out they were already preparing the room for next guest. I’ll still be coming back in the future.
- 5/5
Nice beach property. Clean and spacious rooms with parking. Lots of dining options right up the street.
- 5/5
No elevator I'm aware of and I was on the 3rd floor. Stairs aren't steep but its not easy if you have lots of luggage. The bodywash was out in the containers (refillable). Parking is a bit tough. It takes some maneuvering to get out of the parking lot due to having poles in the way and it IS limited. Other than that, THANK YOU for a beautiful room!
- 3/5
The floors are pergo, so they’re quite hygienic, but there’s nothing to absorb sound. Some runners and acoustic treatment in the halls would make a huge difference.
- 3/5
2nd, we got in the room and all needed to shower, but the hotel shower wall mounted shampoo container was empty. We had to use door dash to bring us a bottle of shampoo $16. Highly inconvenient. .
- 4/5
Nice coffee place next door with good food.
- 4/5
The hotel was nice nothing impressing. No elevators so if you are on the 3rd floor good luck with your luggage. The staircase smelled like old food consistently and people complain about the smell of febreze. Be aware everyone can hear you from outside your room. You can hear everyone on the floor your on.
- 5/5
Great location with the ocean across the street and proximity to restaurants, SFSU, and Golden Gate Park. It was much cleaner and felt safer than the Union Square area. The terminus of the cal train was a little noisy, but we got used to it.
- 4/5
This is the second time staying at the Seaascape
- 5/5
The unique experience how close and walking distance is the beach from our room, the staff was amazing and helpful and the rooms were clean!
- 4/5
Great location.
- 5/5
Check in was easy. Young man very nice and helpful
- 5/5
It's not the Four Seasons, but a great place for the price. Convenient location.
- 5/5
This was our second stay at SeaScape Inn. It is clean and comfortable as well as convenient with MUNI access right in front of motel. The only wish would be an occasional chair to sit in for watching TV or reading. The room was equipped with a small refrigerator which was nice.
- 5/5
Very close to the ocean.
- 5/5
Nice location at the end of Golden Gate Park. Parking was simple and included was convenient to visit Golden Gate Bridge and Muir Woods. Area was quiet and friendly
- 4/5
Great price and location for a room, within walking distance of restaurants and not too far from Golden Gate Park or the zoo. The room was updated and felt like new. However the walls are paper thin and you will hear everything in the halls and the adjacent rooms, like it or not.
- 4/5
The room was clean and comfortable, though nothing special. Onsite parking is a definite plus. I liked it just fine. Only real complaint is no elevator, so if you have a lot of bags or mobility issues, let them know. I’m know sure what accommodations they have for that. Schlepping a heavy suitcase up 3 flights of stairs was not the best experience.
- 4/5
It doesn’t look like much from outside but the room was large and clean. Bed was comfortable. Plenty of hot water. Directly across the street from a MUNI stop. One block to the beach. Good coffee shop right next door
- 4/5
Great room for the price. However, all rooms are upstairs and there is no elevator. Parking is very cramped.
- 4/5
Clean, right near the beach and several restaurants. When I had a problem with the room, the manager was not helpful. He offered me to switch rooms but wouldn’t try to just take a look at the problem. He spoke very fast, seemed impatient, and was hard to understand.
- 5/5
Great service
- 5/5
Attentive staff, relaxing atmosphere
- 4/5
All the areas that count were clean, bed, bathroom and microwave, but some of the floorboards and other out of reach areas had dust and dirt.
- 5/5
Clean comfortable. Walking distance to amenities.
- 5/5
The room was very clean. The staff was accomidating in chaging our room as we had our bikes to carry up the stairs to our room.
- 4/5
This is a bare-bones operation one block from the beach. When I had complaints (room cold, bathroom cold, water cold) the manager offered to change my room, but I didn’t want to change rooms, I wanted issues addressed.
- 2/5
The room was dusty on dresser, desktop, and even the bed covers. The bathroom was was not clean: soap scum and mildew in the shower; toilet seat and bowl was not thoroughly clean; surface area around light switch was dirty; the soap and body lotion dispensers on the sink. had soap scum and mildew around the bottles. Bathroom also had trail ants leading to the toilet. And ants were found on desktop. The deluxe room was suppose to have blackout curtains, grab rail near toilet, and shower/tub combo.....none of these were in the room.
- 3/5
I loved the location and the room size was great. There was dust on the night stands and the floor was dirty. The back of the bathroom door was also gross. The wifi didn't work so the tv usage was limited. I'd stay again though
- 4/5
It would be nic to have thicker blankets. There’s a heater, but the varying temperatures aren’t conducive to a good nights sleep.
- 3/5
Told it would b fixed in hour
- 5/5
Location was perfect, walking distant to the beach. Very clean and staff was helpful
- 5/5
Very clean room and bathroom. Well organized and well taken care of.
- 5/5
Clean Economical
- 5/5
Very kind staff, pleasant location and a really nice coffee shop!
- 5/5
I’ve stayed here numerous times and love it. It’s clean, spacious, great location across the street from the beach, wonderful food places walking distance, great off street parking, and affordable. This is one of my secret getaways.
- 4/5
Really enjoyed the property and the area around it. Only issue was there was no elevator or which made it difficult for my disabled father. Make sure to book early to get a first floor room should you need it
- 1/5
They indicate that their front desk is open 24/7 but when my daughter arrived at 10:30pm the lobby was locked. No one answered the bell or phone after several attempts to reach. Leaving my daughter stranded on the streets late in the evening. We had to immediately book a different hotel. DO NOT TRUST THIS HOTEL!!
- 4/5
Overall it’s good. The carbon and fire alarm is not working for this unit and I wasn’t sure if the dust was coming from the outside since the window was open or the heater fan is blowing it out.
- 5/5
Great location
- 5/5
Also water in sink was very low water pressure. But we would stay there again cause of its convenience & walking to dining!
- 5/5
the hotel is right across the street from the beach. coffee cafe next door has excellent food excellent
- 5/5
Clean, convenient, friendly staff. Perfect for the price and a clean, safe place to sleep while in SF.
- 5/5
The property was remodeled & it looked clean & safe. New paint job & great security system to get in & out of room & hallways. Very quiet at night & clean parking lot.
- 4/5
It was nice that they had an indoor pool. Hella tweekers on and around the property.
- 3/5
It was different for me. I know they do the best but it was older building with new paint and furniture. The hallways are all wood and you hear everybody coming and going. Finally the hotels.com pic is in the office where it’s all nice and clean.
- 3/5
I felt safe going for a walk in the neighborhood. Clean sheets and hard surface floors were good, but room could use a deep clean on the walls, windows, and air vents.

The room was very nice large and comfortable, but beware that there are no elevators and if you stay on the top floor, you’re going up a Few flights of stairs . Muni is right out the front door. You can walk to the beach, but if you have chairs, etc., it would be better to load them in the car and take them there.

Access to public transportation right outside as well as walkable restaurants & convenience stores.

The room and bathroom were clean and looked recently updated. The water pressure in the sink was extremely low, a little more than a trickle, the shower was fine. Hotel is noisy, not from people but from the main door, ice machine, and plumbing. The bed was comfortable but only had three pillows on a king size bed, four would be better. I would recommend it for closeness to beach and GG park, it is pretty far from most tourist attractions.

Our room was very dirty, fridge did not work, no continental breakfast. Good location, has a little bit of parking, felt somewhat safe.

Great little hotel, better than expected, loves my room and convenience to the GGP and muni.

Room was decent but the walls were so thin I could hear people opening and closing doors all night. The halls were very loud. There was no parking for me so I had to park on the street, which was frustrating since it says that there is parking.

Somwhat expensive for what it was. Room was clean but smelled of humidity. Hallways seamed clean but smelled like urine. Not many shops or restaurants around but very close to the Golden Gate Parc which made it perfect for the concert at the polo field (+/- 20 mins walk).
