Filthy room, top to bottom. Sticky carpet. Dirt marks all over walls, doors etc. Coffee maker did not work. Moved to another room second night. It was cleaner but door did not lock, so piled furniture in front of door for security.

There was free parking and ample amounts of toiletry supplies. you could only plug in the fridge or the tv, not both. The staff found an extension cord and hooked it up for us. The bed linens had stains and the decorative pillow was pretty gross. The beds sagged in the middle and the air conditioner did not cool the place at all and so super loud. There was a big fan in the closet but we didn't get it out.

The location is good. This is a safe area. The room was severely outdated and had a noticeable odor. The bathroom lamp was extremely noisy, and the walls were so thin that I could hear the neighboring guest coughing and everything else. The blinds were broken a bit which created lack of privacy (as this is a motel). Due to these conditions, I booked another hotel within the same hour. Although the front desk receptionist explicitly told me the next day that they would authorize a refund for the rest of my stay through Booking.com, the property subsequently refused the request. I would not recommend staying here.

This time at the Town House Motel I stayed in the room right next to the room that I had back in February. You can read my last review. This stay was much better, because the room was in better repair. Everything in the room was functional. So, an improvement on the door, the window, the shutters, and most definitely, - the shower door, which did not cause my thumbnail to be blackened. By the way, my thumbnail is almost grown out ! I had a nice TV, and when it wouldn’t connect to the antennae, the desk manager came to my room and fixed it, - at 12:30 am ! The bed was perfect and so was the temperature of the room. I was able to park in front of my room, which is a big help for me. Also, the desk Manager gave me a later check-out, that I requested, because of my insomnia. All in all, a fantastic stay, and I cannot wait to return. Yay Town House Motel ! Actually, nothing was not to my liking. This a great for the price, great value hotel !

Toilet seat was loose and fell off when I first used it. Toilet filled up and drained very slowly, and I had to request & use a plunger to clear it. The bathroom sink also drained very slowly, and the plunger did not work on that. The heater did not restart after the first night, and the manager could not fix it; he provided a portable, though a couple of outlets did not work. The refrigerator was so cold that milk turned icy.
- 3/5
TV remote did not work. Needed major updating. Old carpet old bed old mirrors. Old pictures. It looked run down. It could have used a new coat of paint. Parking lot needed paving. Marginal at best.
- 4/5
Worked out great for us. Location is great, room was clean, A/C worked relatively well, water was hot, it was quiet enough, and there are a number of places nearby to get food. The Coffee Berry nearby was great for coffee + delicious pastries.
- 3/5
Will get you by if you can't find anything else. I stayed becuase the location in the Marina is awesome and everything else was sold out.
- 2/5
Room smells like cleaning supplies & old furnishings, & torn carpet.
- 4/5
Older hotel in need of renovation, the room was clean and plenty of hot water.

Room had broken furniture, road noise, neighborhood noise etc. Quality of room, bathroom was sub-standard.

The first room we were placed in was musty and had what appeared to be mold on the wall near the AC unit. The lights would flicker on and off in the bathroom when something was plugged in. Everything in the room was old, damaged and/or in need of repair. We requested another room as we didn't want to be around the suspected mold. The manager was accomodating after some discussion and seeing a photo of what we saw. He moved us to a room upstairs, which was in slightly better condition, but not by much. The room was still musty and in need of major repairs. One outlet didn't work at all and the others hardly charged our cell phones. The shower handle fell off in our hands when we went to open the door. The best thing yet, is that my daughter took a shower in the middle of the night and I was woken up to the manager pounding on the door to our room around 3 in the morning. Wearily I opened it and was told to turn the water off in the shower right now because it was leaking into the room below me! What kind of a place is this for nearly $200 a night!

- 5/5
Fun place 😜😜
- 3/5
the room could use some new things dresser, a chair
- 3/5
The parking lot was very tight, not allowed to back in to spot. If we could back in, getting out would be so much easier. The room wasn't as quiet as some other lodgings I've stayed at.
- 5/5
Great location, near fisherman‘s wharf and had parking
- 5/5
I was very impressed with this hotel. The staff was very friendly, and had great amenities (frig, micorwave) Very very clean as well and was located in a beautiful area. Having a gas station right outside was so a major convenience, just gas and go.
- 5/5
For the price we paid, I can’t give this anything but 5 stars. The guy at the front was super cool, they were generous with toiletries and room service and the room was clean and comfortable. The location was also fantastic. Lots of food and scenery nearby! I would 100% stay here again.
- 5/5
Yes all those was great.
- 1/5
This place was chill. No compains
- 1/5
Do not think about staying here Beds were tiny, covers were dark, probably to hid stains bathroom was tiny, my sons both 6' could barely fit in shower. toilet had duct tape, hold in wall behind the door. we left, didnt stay here, and of course no refund given.
- 4/5
Enjoyed our 2 night stay. Nothing fancy but works for sleeping/getting ready. Location was good and parking felt safe. Easy check in/check out process too
- 5/5
The bed was comfortable, shower was good, toilet flushed, the mini fridge was cold, they resupplied us with coffee packets. Everything we wanted!

Hotel Management was Disrespectful abd rude. TV and sone of the lighting was not functuonal. NOT HAPPY and to contact Hotels com in order for my concerns to be addrrssed..
- 3/5
Staff was nice
- 5/5
It was nice that I could view my parked vehicle from my conveniently located room and that they allowed smoking in the parking lot.
- 1/5
This hotel is very out dated and in serious need of upgrading. The carpet was sticky, there was something black splattered on the wall by the air conditioner, the toilet was duct taped together, and the floor wasn’t vacuumed very well (dust along the edges) also the bathroom wall paper was peeling and there was black in the shower. Not worth what we had to pay for it.
- 4/5
Great for the price the staff was very nice.
- 5/5
Clean and covers the basics. Faint smell as some mentioned but barely noticeable and typical in any old building.
- 4/5
inexpensive place, nice friendly staff, close to restaurants and shopping, bed was comfortable, parking was tight wouldn't recommend large vehicles, the tv in the room was unplugged and there was no volume control, the bathroom was ok, overall, not a bad place to stay could use a fresh coat of paint and deep cleaning in the bathroom. we would stay here again though
- 3/5
I had to plug in the tv for it to turn on and/or off and there is no way to adjust the volume so that’s weird. AC/Heater worked well. Bathroom…it’s not my favorite and could use a mold/mildew grout treatment. Again, it’s a low priced motel with parking so I got what I expected.
- 1/5
I have stayed here many times since the 80s. Now I hadn’t stayed here in about 10 years, I got a good deal and despite the reviews decided to roll the dice. I arrived around 3pm, the first thing I noticed was all the weeds in the parking lot, it looked unkempt. The room hasn’t changed in all these years, same bedspread, dingy looking carpet, walls looked need paint and really dark lighting. The lampshades were discolored and needed to be replaced. This place needs a total remodel and if the owners are unwilling they should sell, I would be embarrassed if I was the owner of this business. I stayed for two days, will never stay here again.
- 4/5
It’s a motel in good location with a great price. Staff is friendly and parking free. Its not fancy but definitely does the job.

GREAT PLACE HOTEL
- 4/5
Walls were pretty thin so we heard the neighbors. Nothing special, good for the money we spent, parking was included which was great.
- 1/5
So old, poor, broken furniture, dirt carpet, dark, I don’t recommend
- 5/5
Towels clean and sink and toilet. Paint on walls everywhere peeling and carpet old and although vacuumed is very dirty. Bed lumpy. Rather sleep in car
- 5/5
Every week stay with town house really like it and good front desk , clean room service every day
- 4/5
Not a bad stay if you’re on a budget or don’t need anything fancy.
- 5/5
My experience at Townhouse Motel is always great.
- 3/5
Estuvo regular, para dormir bien. Pero necesita mucha remodelacion.
- 4/5
There was one incident worth noting, where my key card wouldn't work on the first night. But Andy and the maintenance guy were on top of it and it was fixed the very next day. Over all a 4/5 imo and good value for your money. Special S/O to Andy and I wanna say Eric (maintenance guy).
- 4/5
Pretty good.
- 5/5
Friendly staff.
- 3/5
Shabby room and noisy heater. Coffee machine didn't work.
- 5/5
Wow, I was pleasantly surprised by this place. Great, comfortable bed. Really fast + helpful front desk. Spacious room. 2 nice tables that I could work at. Good hot water and shower pressure. It's not the Four Seasons but really great value, and you can tell the staff care. Thank you Townhouse Motel!
- 3/5
Ok
- 3/5
The hotel looks like it's not open but if you get closer it is, just not busy. The room is dated but clean. So far so good until i needed to shower. I let the water run, no hot water. I ran it for 10 minutes still no hot water. I went to the front desk waited for anyone. They must of change shifts because now i have a guy to explain my situation. He tells me this happens? I tell him, "then why give out these rooms" ? He was apologetic and gave me a room facing the inside of the property. This place has a lot of rooms but it appears they tend to give out the rooms that faces towards the road. I speculate the rooms facing the road are problem rooms. I say this because my second room was much better and nicer than my 1st room. No problems it had more amenities in it. So thats how we do it here? If you go with this place ask to see the room first, then request a room that faces in on the property.
- 5/5
Great room service
- 5/5
Easy check in.
- 1/5
Found bedbugs after checking in. Do not stay here. Clerk always seemed like we were somehow inconveniencing him by asking a question or raising an issue.
- 5/5
Good
- 5/5
The staff were extra friendly and a good resource for information about the town!
- 4/5
Forgot my electric toothbrush there, called next day, but it was not found, which is very unlikely :(.
- 1/5
Everything was in a state of disrepair. The blinds were broken. There was a board in the window to prevent people from seeing in the window. There was no screen on the window though there were on other units. Everything was stained or ripped. Sleeping on the ground would have been more comfortable than that mattress. There was not a fitted sheet. It was a flat sheet on a stained mattress on a box spring that had the bottom ripped out. There was mildew in the shower. It smelled a little bit of piss in the bathroom. There wasn't a chain on the door, it made me really uncomfortable. The phone could not have been dirtier or more beat looking. I didn't try the television, AC, or coffee maker, and I think you would be taking your life in your hands eating ice out of that ice machine. I think the prices in San Francisco are ridiculous at this point and it is priced for what it is in that town but it was so uncomfortable. I'm cheap enough that I stayed both nights but disgusted enough that I paid $25 extra dollars to fly out of town 2 hours faster. Location is walkable to stuff which is nice , staff is nice, but the state of disrepair is really unforgivable. I do believe they are washing the linens and sheets but they may be throwing them on the floor at some point because there was a whole bunch of hair on the sheets.
- 3/5
With an update in the rooms this place would be perfect.
- 3/5
My shower door was broken and I could barely get it open but the water pressure was good The walls were so thin between rooms I could hear every word they were saying in the room next door. And the room above. Which was at one time a very heated argument. I felt a little bit unsafe for this reason. There were no extra locks on the door to lock from the inside as well which as a solo traveler I always would prefer to give me that extra level of safety in my room such as a chain lock. Location is good, 10 minute walk to fisherman’s wharf and close to lots of shops and restaurants
- 2/5
The facility is in very poor condition- furniture and equipment were worn and partially disfuncional. Very dirty place !!!
- 4/5
I was in an end room, I believe next to where employees stayed, they were very noisy all hours of the night. I told them immediately about the shower leaking (a lot), they said they would let maintenance know. Leaked from Saturday to Monday and the bathroom door wouldn't shut all the way. When I woke up Monday morning, I had a rash all over my right calf. (I wore long slacks during the day,) it had to come from the bedding. Soda machine didn't work either.
- 4/5
Clean room. Comfy bed.
- 4/5
Great front Desk, and prorty
- 3/5
Negatives: I am worried about some of the plug sockets. Quite a few were burned. Also, the TV didn’t work, and there’s no microwave to reheat food. Ditch the burlap sack pillows too lol.
- 4/5
Front office clerk was very professional and informative. Room was clean the only down side is the smell. Parking is not an issue.
- 1/5
Close to the Wharf area but everything else about this place can be described as beat! From very sketchy tenants to beat up furniture, hair dryer with no inlet screen, no elevator, very tight parking... on and on.
- 5/5
Nice staff. Very clean place. Good comfy bed
- 4/5
Location was great. Great restaurants and bars were super close. Our room wasn’t bad. Definitely some wear and tear on walls and doors but air conditioner was amazing, beds were comfy, car was safe. We were able to leave our car while we worked the festival for half the price of a parking garage. Brothers were SUPER nice. Would stay here again.
- 3/5
Room was outdated.
- 2/5
Basic hotel in need of new mattress and paint. I just needed a cheap place to crash so it worked but would not stay there again under most circumstances.
- 1/5
Horrible place to stay. A microwave was an upgrade
- 5/5
I think they have to use different flower to clean the motel, sometimes smell good and sometimes smell like onion, I think they gotta use like flowers smell or something like that but the hotel is more
- 2/5
Room 106 Issues: Couple of the lights didn't work, couple outlets didn't work, blinds didn't open, neighbors above and beside were crazy loud, lombard road is crazy loud, TV didn't work, shower dripped non stop loudly (couldn't make it stop). Didn't need to look hard to see dirt and overall grubbiness. Upsides: good location, bed fairly comfy and sheets seemed clean. With high quality earplugs and a pillow over my head, I slept well!
- 4/5
Bathroom is worn-out, but functional.
- 5/5
Check in process was smooth. The rooms are a bit dated and in need of some love, but overall for the price I am very satisfied. It’s also close to lots of shopping and is walkable if you don’t mind a 10-15 minute walk
- 3/5
Parking was limited to none and u can hear everything coming from tue other rooms. Other then that staff was very nice and helpful and rooms were very clean. Beds sucked
- 4/5
Clean and good area to stay in. Good price, rooms look a little dated but they were clean and quiet. Would stay here again, free parking was a big plus.
- 5/5
Parking included
- 5/5
Everything was great. I love the free parking. Will be coming here again
- 3/5
Walls are a bit thin, can hear hotel guests taking and snoring. Also shower door doesn’t lock at all. Bed pillows have no firmness, suggest stacking to get suitable firmness, woke up with stiff necks.
- 3/5
Easy to check in. Dirty walls. Had everything to have a normal stay
- 3/5
No cofee or Micro. Fridge working.
- 3/5
The staff was friendly, the room was clean and it was close to public transit. The room was a bit dated and had some cosmetic issues. I travel a lot for work so I’ve stayed in many hotels. The big negatives here for me were a lack of accessible outlets, I have a CPAP and figuring out where I could plug it in was challenging. The cable was not working, not a huge issue for me since I always travel with a firestick but I could see how it might upset others, especially when it’s advertised as being one of the amenities. The area is a bit rough so it might not be the best place for a family stay.
- 3/5
Good
- 4/5
Budget motel in handy quiet location. Don’t expect the Hilton, you get what you pay for. Staff were very helpful
- 2/5
Cheap, convenient location. Close to restuarants and walk to fishermans wharf. We were allocated a room where 2 lights were out, hairdryer did not work, filthy shower area with drain cover damaged, shower screen stuck when opening and black mould. All rooms appear to have shutters which dont block out light so was like sleeping in the daytime. Asked to be moved next day..room was cleaner but hairdryer so old totally unsafe to use. Fridge freezer totally iced up. Towels and bed linen clean but so old and thin. Towels had fraying edges. So, if you want cheap and a convenient location give it a go...i would look elsewhere. Also dont let reception grab your passport and take into the back room along with your credit card...dodgy to say the least!
- 2/5
Bed was uncomfortable. It was sagging over the edge. You had stay in middle the of mattress. I tripped going the bathroom because the carpet was loose.
- 5/5
For $70 a night I can’t complain! Hotel is not perfect…but it has free secure parking and the location! 5 minutes walk to this beautiful park / Ghirardelli’s Sq with great views of Golden Gate Bridge and the city! I was able to check in early with no extra charge :) Thank you again!
- 4/5
If you are looking for a place just to lay your head and be in an area close to the action this place works great. An older motel that could use some work but the front desk helped us immensely with a reservation mishap that was our fault. Went out of the way to make things go smoothly. Bed was comfy, shower was hot, free parking and that’s all we needed.
- 1/5
No microwave, run down, dingy, but handy to most things
- 3/5
There was a smell as soon as you walked in. Staff were helpful and were very accommodating.
- 3/5
Area ok. No where to make coffee since microwave is inside office that doesn’t open until 9 am.
- 2/5
I’ve stayed here for years. Rooms use to be clean. They would have a microwave and keurig for coffee. Now they are dirty, rooms have a weird smell. Every room seems to have something wrong. One of my towels were stained. Tv didn’t work they use to have a table to eat at they don’t have that anymore either. Needless to say I will be looking somewhere else to stay from now on
- 3/5
Great location, the hotel was very dated and in urgent need of a face lift, the room was acceptable but had water stains over the walls and ceiling, wallpaper peeling off in the bathroom and an empty beer bottle by the bed. But as I said great location cheap price. This is not a 7.4 ratting hotel
- 3/5
While the rate was affordable for this area I thought the facility could have been in better shape. The decor and structure was really outdated. For the most part it was very clean but I did see some areas that could use paint, caulk, and better cleaning.
- 3/5
Although not a five star hotel, it was functional at a great price for the location. Staff was friendly, it was quiet, free parking and close to the attractions. We would return.
- 5/5
Very nice people. Took really good care of us!! Nice place to stay.
- 4/5
The staff was accommodating at a very late hour and were very friendly and understanding.
- 5/5
We were very pleased with location. Walking distance to Lombard Street, The Wharf & Ghirardelli café. We recommend.
- 4/5
Exactly as expected
- 2/5
This motel was exactly as you'd expect based off the price/photos. The problem beyond that which I had was the GIANT RAT in my room! I saw it overnight and found a hole in the closet wall/floor intersection where it obviously snuck in/out. When I told the front desk in the morning when I left he seemed unfazed and said he'd get people to follow up. No apology, discounted stay, or even a look of concern. Im down for grungy motels, but i draw the line at unexpected roommates
- 5/5
Awesome
- 4/5
close to the pier
- 3/5
Great location, but beds weren't that comfy and the ac/heater in our room was broken.
- 2/5
On May 3 I paid Expedia $145 for a June 1 one night stay. I called the owner/manager a day or two before our arrival and he said he would lower the rate to around $100. I don't have the exact amount as I was booking hotels in five different cities and the numbers blur. I may be early in my complaint though the owner/manager has had over a week to rectify this.
- 3/5
Price was good
- 4/5
no microwave good value for the area
- 4/5
I will stay here again.
- 4/5
Stayed 3 nights
- 4/5
It was ok
- 5/5
For the price it was great
- 2/5
Free parking was the only plus. Otherwise, the facilities and the room were dirty, shabby. There were no washcloths. Shower door would not close and there was mold in the shower. Floor didn’t seem to have cleaned once during our 3 night stay because someone else’s hair was there all the time. Man at the front desk was friendly when I checked in but then was inaccessible. The room lacked any means to heat water for tea, but the office was locked 24 hr so there was no way to just make tea. online advertising indicated free breakfast and photos showed continental breakfast. But I woke up office man at 8am who simply stated there was no breakfast, no explanation.
- 4/5
I love the location of this hotel! I’ve stayed here multiple times now and it’s the best hotel for the price, and very safe.
- 3/5
The location was great mear the pier and at Lombart srreet.
- 3/5
Clean enough and safe enough stopover in SFO. Parking tight but every unit has a spot. Rooms a bit worn, and only one staircase for upper level so some fire exit worries (and a bit of a dark stair corner to negotiate). Priced OK for what is offered.
- 5/5
Older room with some stains. Had to move furniture to get to outlets for charging and found evidence it had not been cleaned underneath.
- 4/5
Safe, clean, great location and excellent value for money
- 4/5
The motel is pretty outdated, but the location is great. Walkable distance to many attractions.
