Signature Inn San Jose

If you’re looking for ONLY a place to stay and a roof over your head that’s cheap, then you’re looking at the right place. this is bare minimum place, food and drug paraphernalia strewn about around the property premises. No toiletries other than towels and toilet paper. I personally would have been better off sleeping in my car for the night.

The photos on Expedia were misleading and did not accurately represent the condition of the property in person. The location felt sketchy and was very noisy, with cars and people outside throughout much of the night. The walls also seemed thin, as I could clearly hear the person in the room next door. The amenities were disappointing. The AC unit indicated there should be a wall control, but there was none, making it difficult to regulate the temperature. The room became uncomfortably hot at night. I also requested a late checkout, but the latest they could accommodate was 11:30 a.m. due to weekend occupancy. Most concerning, the bathroom was not clean upon arrival. Overall, the property did not meet expectations based on its online listing.

Staff was rude, for example, I’m a nurse and had to stay over on the day of my checkout, I called twice and spoke to someone letting them know I’d be late in checking out about 1 hr, but as anyone who knows healthcare knows there’s no guarantee, I was about 9 minutes past the time getting back, door was locked, I asked an housekeeper to just open the door so I could get my bags, she pretended she couldn’t speak English and turned away without trying to help any further. Went downstairs to the office where I was yelled at, “you said, 1 hour, it’s more than an hr” I said that’s not really the way to speak to me as a client, he just continued ranting about you “said 1 hr” would not listen to anything I said. I was on a call to which the other party could hear what was being said. They are not very nice and seem to have an issue with guests who book through sites like Booking, where we have to check out then check back in if we plan to extend, so people beware.

Room was clean and nice. Remote wouldnt turn on tv. Bathroom light never turned off and ac wasnt that cold. The area at night is sketchy. Staff was good.

The property was clean, the staff were friendly, and it was close enough to the convention center that it was easy to get to and from to it. This isn’t the property owner’s fault, but the road facing it did get a lot of rowdy drivers late into the night.

The hotel is ass!! So badddd, they said to deposit $100 and I did but never gave it back to me ! Never go to this hotel it’s so bad, customer service was bad aswell! HORRIBLE !!

The people working do not look friendly

Very meager food for their breakfast buffet. Very meager with pillows and towels. Room itself was good: good micro, frig, bed, really big shower. EXCEPT the toilet was not flushing properly. Kind of a biggie there. Very nice staff. Everything was clean. Room was not noisy with windows closed and fan running. You are right in downtown by the airport, so don’t expect COUNTRYSIDE QUIET.

We enjoyed our visit with Signature Inn, the room was clean and loved the shower and bathroom area. Everything looked updated and nice furnishings.

Very happy with a one night stay. Room was very clean. We were able to check in a little early. The staff was helpful and very pleasant. My only concern is that the shower had no place to put the wash cloth and shampoo so it had to go on the floor. And there were no bars in the shower. Scary for us seniors. Otherwise we would stay again and it's very close to The San Jose Civic.

I’ve never felt more disgusting after a shower. The grout was moldy and peeling and the shower head was covered in white stuff. There was no counter sink space. The bed was so uncomfortable and sunk in and tilted. I moved the welcome sign off of the table to put something there and it was wet underneath. The walls were paper thin and the airplanes woke me up at least 7 times. There were spiders on the window. There was a huge crack under the door and so much light came in. I don’t understand how this place passed any type of inspection. There were gaps, holes, and cracks in the walls. I know it’s cheap but I learned my lesson and I’ll gladly pay $20-50 more next time and stay somewhere else.

Check in was easy. Room appeared dirty and not well taken care of. Smell of cleaning supplies was strong. No where to hang towels. Two pillows that were super small. Positives were air conditioning, large fridge, coffee maker, and microwave.

Breakfast was the only part that fell short. It was very simple: oatmeal packets, white toast, a few yogurts, packaged muffins, and two cereals. The coffee machine was old and leaky, so that could definitely be improved. Overall, for under $100, it was a solid stay for a couple. I personally wouldn’t stay in that location by myself as a solo female traveler, but with a partner it felt totally fine and convenient for a game night.

One important thing to note is that there is no elevator, which may be inconvenient for guests with heavy luggage or mobility concerns. The rooms appear to have been updated at some point, but they are not well maintained. In the bathroom, I noticed visible patches of paint in different shades, suggesting repairs were done quickly and without much attention to detail. Overall upkeep did not match what the renovations might suggest. The common areas were not well kept during my stay. I observed overflowing trash cans, which gave the property an unclean appearance. There also seemed to be several extended-stay guests. Groups gathered outside to barbecue and socialize until late afternoon, which contributed to a noisy atmosphere. As a result, the environment was not very quiet or relaxing. Based on my experience, I would not choose to stay here again. Guests who are looking for a clean, well-maintained, and quiet place to stay may want to consider other options.

Was rather surprised for an out of towner, Signature Inn is a gem, quiet at night amidst a busy street. Staff is pleasant and accommodating. A sufficient break-fast. Rooms clean and orderly. If there’s a problem please speak to staff. Although not affiliated, I will book in Miami, San Francisco and this location again. (Housekeeping please try to be a bit more quiet when early morning cleaning…lol!!!) Overall 5 stars because there is also shopping and eateries near by, thank you kindly!!!

Terrible neighborhood lots of homeless, the flight path of the airplanes to the airport is right over your room and the toiletries are terrible, just soap and shampoo of very poor quality, no hair conditioner, etc. The tiny bar of soap they did give you, felt more lake plastic, had to work hard just to get a minimal bubble. Towels and. everything else including pillows very basic and limited quantities. Everything was bare minimum - two pillows one set of towels, etc. nothing more or extra, not even an extra blanket.

They had a room for me close to the main street, car revving sound from the street, people banging on their doors, laughing all night long, those noises kept me all night long, I didn’t even stay the second night. I was asking for a refund for the second night, and receptionist said okay. But I still haven’t seen it in my bank account.

Literally just a bed and toilet. The room was loud, and the bathroom was so tiny you couldn’t close the door and sit in the toilet. It said there was breakfast options but there was a half cup of milk and bowl of Frosted Flakes, no muffins, toast, or anything. The coffee was about 4 oz and you had to sit on the coffee machine to make sure you had enough. Very cheap and clean, but don’t expect much.

The window did not close completely, which felt unsafe, as anyone could potentially get in through it. Another major downside was the air conditioner — it was very loud and made it difficult to sleep or rest properly. This hotel is definitely not suitable for a quiet and comfortable stay.

The Staff were great! Room was clean and basic. The bed was comfortable. Bring your own toiletries and breakfast. The "toiletries" provided included 4 little pkgs of Conditioning shampoo and 2 ridiculously small pieces of soap. The "breakfast" had 2 types of cereal, a juice machine, Coffee machine, a few pieces of bread for toast and one container of yogurt. My husband went down every morning to see if it had gotten better, but Nope. They are also directly in the flight path for SJ Airport. The jets fly directly overhead starting between 6am-6:30am and continue all morning. We asked for a quiet room, when we booked, that was when they should have mentioned the noise from the planes. NOPE

The bed was highly uncomfortable.The remodel that they did is horrible and not kept up because there were multiple spots where the flooring was coming up, Or not even finished. Somehow, every single day outside of my room, the ground was completely wet. The office always seemed closed so I didn't even bother with the breakfast because I would have to call to get the office door unlocked. If you have another choice, go stay there, don't even bother with this one

It was clean but had some mold in the sink near the faucet. Toilet paper was so cheap that it get ripping. The bar soap they provided kept breaking. Staff was ok. They had some people around the hotel that looked homeless. There was an ugly prostitute a block away. Overall I had no issues.

The first room given to me had a strong smell of tobacco covered up by deodorizer. Not good for a non-smoking hotel. I asked for another room which was better. The telephone in the room did not work. I immediately reported it to the front desk person who said he would have maintenance check it out. At checkout 2 days later I inquired about the phone. I was told they were ordering a part. Nobody had ever come to the room. The rooms are spacious and clean. The rooms are very quiet even though the hotel is right on a busy road. The hotel feels safe. The mattress was saggy and soft and seemed old and in need of upgrade. Tiniest bath towels I have seen in a hotel. Two very small and flat pillows on king size bed. Air Conditioner was good. Refrigerator and microwave oven were fine. My side of the bed had no available outlets for my phone. I found an outlet by pulling the bed away from the wall. Breakfast was continental style with yogurt and cereal. Oatmeal packets, but no hot water. Juice and coffee and hot chocolate.

Honestly, this place was pretty gross. The shower had soap buildup and no soap holder. The floors looked dirty, like they hadn’t been mopped in forever. The pillows were terrible — old, flat, and yellowish like they hadn’t been changed in years. Then on Saturday, we woke up to find there was no water at all, and no one even bothered to let guests know ahead of time so we could prepare. On the last night, things got even worse — someone actually tried to come into our room. They knocked twice, the second time very violently, even pounding on the thin windows. It terrified me in the middle of my sleep. Very, very scary situation. Definitely not safe, clean, or comfortable. Never again.

This is the worse motel I've ever stayed at. The people that were staying next door to us on both sides were very loud until way past midnight. In one of the rooms next door the people were smoking weed and the smoke is creeping under the door since our room had a connecting door. When i asked to be moved to a different room the staff decided to talk to the tenants but they still didnt move us and we coukd smell the weed the entire night. The towels were stained, our bed sheet had cigarette hole, it was just awful and will never stay here again. I felt unsafe knowing that the people next door were doing drugs and were really loud

Pleasantly surprising value. Prices are low but the rooms were well-maintained. A few minor upgrades might be needed like towel racks inside bathrooms, soap holders, and toilet paper holders.

It was quiet, clean, had everything we needed for a good 2 day stay!

Very affordable rate and trying hard. Please take these suggestions: have the breakfast trash can inside the building; make sure microwave, fridge, and coffee out can all be plugged in; make it so furniture doesn’t have to be moved to plug in a computer while using the desk.

Upon arrival the check in staff had already realized we would need a downstairs room before I entered and was friendly and accommodating. There were issues with the room: 1) No lamps only overhead lighting; 2) 1 washcloth for two; 3) no plugs for charging phones - not even regular plugs; 4) no instructions for working TV.

It was close to the airport and was the cheapest. The room AC didn’t cool the room very well, and there were very few outlets accessible. We also had to plug in the mini fridge and wait for a few hours for it to cool down.

Very clean and safe.

New paint outside and tarred stripped parking lot. Bathroom was weird. Door hits toilet seat so you have to turn sideways, close door and sit down. Sink was wall to wall and an unnecessary artsy ramp sink that left no room for toiletries. Lock your car as neighborhood isn’t the best. Otherwise it was an excellent value for the money.

The room was clean and had all the very minimal basics in place. It's strange because there were some nice upgrades that almost made it feel like a higher quality tier hotel, like the big fancy sink and mirror, and the nice shower tiling. But then there were little things missing that made it inconvenient and uncomfortable. There is no kind of shelving or rack in the shower, not even outside the shower, so you have to put soap and shampoo on the floor of the shower. There is no shelving at all in the bathroom and not even a dispenser to hold the toilet paper, so the roll just sits on top of the toilet tank. The towels provided were just two, and they were very small. No washcloths, no other towels at all. And the shampoo provided was in single use paper packets. The light inside the toilet area is automatic, and you can't change this, so if you get up to use the toilet in the middle of the night, you get blasted with light whether you want or not (I prefer to leave the light off or have a very low night light because all that light makes it hard to go back to sleep). And the lighting in the rest of the room, aside from the nice sink/vanity mirror, is that typical ugly hard cold LED lighting that makes everything feel like a laboratory instead of a warm comfortable room to sleep and stay in. I will never understand why people use that lighting, especially in hotels, when soft and warm LED bulbs are just as really available.

In regards to the level of customer service, this place is equivalent to the Riz Carlton!! I know its a budget hotel, but they were extremely accommodating as i flew in for the night for my cousins funeral on short notice. It was affordable, exceptionally clean, quiet, close to shops and restaurants, but i cannot stress enough the friendliness of the staff and management. They held my bahgs after my checkout so i could attend my cousins funeral. The manager is incredibly friendly and i cant tell you how much weight a simple smile carries when youve been traveling all day or after attending an emotional service. I will only stay here next time i come to San Jose!!!

The TV didn't work and the phone wasn't connected when I tried to call down to the office. Everything else was okay for the price, but it is a bit noisy since it's right off a big street.

I didn't like their beds, they were very noisy. not so clean.

This hotel barely provided enough towels or pillows. Whenever I used the shower, water would keep spilling out due to no lip and flood the bathroom floor. The hair dryer wasn't working and the ac didn't work as well either.

Motel clerk really stressed the fact that I was NOT to smoke in the room. But the room reaked of smoke and there were cigarette burns all over the beds. Linen was also dirty.

The property and staff were great, the rooms were very clean and updated recently. The neighborhood was definitely a bit sketchy and not a good place to be out alone alone after dark.
