The hotel is highly praised for its beautiful property, cleanliness, and friendly staff. Guests enjoy the convenient location near local attractions and amenities. However, some guests express dissatisfaction with hidden fees, parking charges, and occasional issues with room cleanliness and maintenance.

Beautiful property! Our room was comfortable and very clean. The amenities nearby are all amazing; shopping, eateries, historical sites and beaches. I recommend Salt Creek beach for a nice family friendly beach. The bar, café and restaurant on site are wonderful. We will be returning very soon.

Its a great property in an excellent location!

We walked from train station and did not have an automobile at the site. Yet--we were charged for valet parking of a vehicle---$55 despite telling the desk that we did not have a vehicle and did not need valet parking. Please correct this error.

Fabulous stay! Beautiful hotel, lovely rooms, wonderful restaurant, polite and courteous staff. The property itself is very nice and we were given free admission tickets to the mission next door. Multiple restaurants within walking distance although we ate only at the hotel. We couldn’t stay longer.

This is a beautiful place however I do t think we will be going back, they buckle and dime the heck out of you while they charge you $560 a night, the force you to valet and charge $55 a night, they make you dine at their restaurant by adding a fee to your bill it’s either you use it or lose it, then the give a mysterious tip to someone (only a $1) I’m sure that adds up to a nice little bonus to someone when all the guests are forced to pay that, then the tax you occupancy of 10% and they do that twice, all in all you end up paying well over $200 for all their little fees.

Great place for kids and a short 2-day stay.

It’s a beautiful hotel . The downs sides were the bar staff were inattentive , flirting with the pretty girls , took a good 30 minutes to place an order . The room was nice , but the coffeemaker was the weird Italian one that makes at best 3 Oz of coffee , there was no tea , the shower was cold . None of the little niceties you come to expect of a luxurious hotel. No complementary water bottles . Very expensive addons , $50 parking . $45 “ resort “ fee . No thanks

From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and full of character. The property blends historic charm with modern comfort, making it feel both relaxing and special. One of the highlights of our stay was the live music, which created a lively yet laid-back vibe in the evenings and made it easy to unwind without ever leaving the hotel. We were lucky to be there during the Cowboy Christmas event, which added a festive and unique local touch to the experience. It felt authentic, fun, and perfectly matched the spirit of San Juan Capistrano. The location is unbeatable. The hotel is within easy walking distance to fantastic restaurants, local shops, and charming spots around town, making it simple to explore without needing a car. Being just steps away from the historic Mission San Juan Capistrano was a huge bonus and made our stay feel even more connected to the area’s rich history and culture. Overall, this hotel offers a perfect combination of ambiance, entertainment, and location. Whether you’re visiting for a relaxing getaway, a holiday event, or to explore the mission and surrounding town, this property delivers a memorable and enjoyable experience. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting San Juan Capistrano

All staff were VERY respectful/courteous/officiant/kind. ALL front desks people were fabulous, But Sam was the first to answer a call from me and she was my favorite person! She really made me feel welcomed and she went out of her way to get me hot water to sip on for my morning lap swim. Please tell her I think she's GREAT! ALSO, the drivers of the shuttle car were PERFECT. I don't remember their names, but they were GREAT. They both made us welcomes, picking up/dropping off to the train station! Not that this is not expected but the bar seating area got a lil messy with all the people coming and going. I just think having an attendant to keep an eye on a lil cleanup between customers leaving their drinkware and table messes behind while others come to sit where it was not cleaned up. I had to move the past customer's mess for my family to have use of the space.

We liked the location and property grounds. Pillows were uncomfortable-too big and over stuffed. Smoke alarm blue light went off at irregular intervals all throughout the night. We felt we did not use the daily resort fee credit. We had planned to eat out but in order to use credit of$45/day had to stay on property.

Nice hotel. Rooms could be cleaner. For example I found two empty cans behind the nightstand and the shampoo and soap bottles were empty. I would have expected more from a place like this.

It's a gorgeously decorated place, very inviting.

My overall experience with the hotel and the staff was great. I booked a room for four people (2 adults and 2 kids). I picked a room with two queen beds in order to accommodate the four of us. On the day of the check-in I called the hotel to confirm. They said that they can only give us a room with a single king bed. When I told them we are four people, they said that information does not come through with the reservation. I truly don't understand how hotels work and how Expedia works with them but I really think the number of guests is a crucial piece of information. The staff tried hard to accommodate us and gave us two adjacent room for an additional (though discounted) cost. They also offered to cancel with a full refund. Given this happened on the same day and that I wasn't sure I could get my full refund from Expedia, I decided to pay the extra cost and get the two rooms. The hotel should have reached out to me earlier but I will no longer use Expedia in my future reservations as they make it difficult to be notified of changes and I really believe this whole thing could have been avoided if they weren't in the equation.
- 5/5
The property is very nice and it has a nostalgic feel of an earlier time in California. We will definitely come back.
- 5/5
One of the most beautiful and exquisite properties I've ever stayed at. Everything from design and layout to the amenities and even staff, was incredible. Tons of spots that you can literally just relax and pass time in private moments while being surrounded by beauty. I'd rate this hotel with the highest rating available.
- 3/5
Everything was ok except the breakfast they said they would refund me but when I got my email receipt they still charge me.
- 5/5
Beautiful property, would stay again in a heart beat.
- 5/5
QUIET AND CONVIENIENT.
- 5/5
This is a beautiful and welcoming hotel! Upon arrival, the valets were great, the front desk staff were super nice, friendly and beyond helpful. The room was pretty and super clean. There was a free sample bottle of olive oil for us in the room. We had apps and cocktails at the bar and the bartender was very welcoming and terrific in his recommendations. Later had dinner at then hotel restaurant and the food was very well presented, staff was great and we enjoyed our time. We hope to stay longer next time. Its location is perfect in relation to the little town shops, its literally walking distance to many things just outside the driveway of the hotel. We would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a fantastic hotel and fun getaway.

They charge a $45 resort fee. Be careful to check your bill.

Super quiet rooms. Nice pool. Great staff. Nice places to hang out around the property. Great margaritas too! Perfect location by car or train.

Service is great but the room is too small.

Beautiful! Located right across the Mission and walkable to shops, & restaurants.

I loved everything about this property, I will absolutely be coming back, the staff was amazing as was the valet, very efficient and the pool was relaxing.

Excellent place to stay for Spring Training Baseball. Walking distance to the Baseball Complex.

Beautiful hotel

I have been coming back to the Inn every 2 months since they opened in January 2020. Love this place, everything is perfect.
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
Beautiful place to stay however they shouldn’t charge for valet parking.
- 1/5
It is misleading and disappointing, as the Hotel appears to be taking advantage of the victims of the Palisades fire by increasing prices and imposing mandatory add-ons. On top of this, the TV didn't work, it was stuck on the home page advertising, and the soap dispenser in the shower was empty. The service was poor, considering the 5-star price.
- 5/5
Our favorite.
- 5/5
We enjoyed the bar at the hotel, excellent food, and drinks. Bartender was social and accommodating to all our needs on a New Year’s Eve night.
- 5/5
it is just beautiful. We love staying here when we are in town.
- 5/5
Great little city so much fun.
- 5/5
Excellet location and hotel!
- 5/5
We had a great stay at the Inn at the Mission San Juan Capistrano. Conveniently located and an easy walk to restaurant shops and the mission. Will return soon!
- 4/5
The food choices were too heavily Tex Mex. Preparation could also be improved. Simple well done is sometimes better than a fancy dish with lots of ingredients.
- 5/5
Beautiful place to stay just wish the parking was free super expensive to park.
- 3/5
The pool was small and crowded.
- 5/5
Absolutely awesome, I have stayed in this property over a dozen times since it very first opened on January 2020

Lots of charm and convenient to freeway access. The food at the property was great too.
- 4/5
Staff was excellent and courteous. The rooms were clean and well maintained. The shower curtains needed replacement. No liquid soaps by the sink. Nice breakfast place with outdoor seatings. Nice restaurant and bar.
- 5/5
The property was beautiful, well maintained. Great food. The staff was helpful, kind and professional.
- 5/5
Beyond excellent service from start to finish the staff is first class!!!
- 5/5
A beautiful hotel at a great location with nice amenities, quiet, charming with great dining.
- 4/5
Hotel was beautiful and clean. Only disappointment was paying to park and hidden fees. Love the town life as well.
- 5/5
We spent a wonderful night at the Inn. So beautiful and near everything. Can’t wait to return for another vacation!
- 5/5
Experience was perfect. Front desk was very accomodating, almost more excited than we were to stay. Got us checked-in, let us know of all the spots we needed to see and definitely made us comfortable.
- 5/5
Best place to stay in San Juan. Perfectly located near all the San Juan shopping, restaurants and of course the Mission. Comfortable upscale accommodations. They just need more storage in the rooms specifically the bathroom for one’s lotions and potions but all-in-all a great choice.
- 5/5
Beautiful property. Rooms are comfortable and well appointed. Service was excellent, restaurant and bar are very good.
- 5/5
Would recommend and will stay here again 👍
- 4/5
Overall a great experience staying at this hotel. Pricey but it's right in the center of everything and the roomi had was spectacular. They add a $40 traveling fee but also give you the same amount in credit in their restaurants so it balances out. My biggest complaint was that it's hard to get reception inside the building and they don't provide free Wi-Fi.
- 5/5
The property was extravagant. There was nothing I did not like.
- 5/5
The restaurant was fantastic. Our server (Jeff) was A , friendly with great recommendations. The suite we stayed in was perfect for the two of us and our baby. Had a great time, wish we could return sooner than later.
- 5/5
I recently had the pleasure of staying at The Inn at the Mission, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The staff were incredibly welcoming and went above and beyond to ensure a comfortable stay. The grounds were stunning, providing a beautiful backdrop for relaxation and leisurely walks. Additionally, the hotel's convenient location made exploring the area hassle-free. I highly recommend The Inn at the Mission for anyone looking for a memorable and enjoyable stay.
- 5/5
This and many other hotels have abandoned having a space heater in the bathroom. Should change that.
- 3/5
Housekeeping left dirty towels and dishes in room, room service delivered food with no silverware or napkin, final bill had charges on I didn’t make. Don’t think it is good value for what they charge and services.
- 5/5
Great stay!
- 5/5
This was honestly one of the nicest hotels I stayed in and I travel a lot. Mission/Spanish style done right. From the beautiful common spaces to the well equipped rooms. We were there on St Patrick’s day and it was a little crazy in the bar but that was expected. It’s close to all the cute town had to offer.
- 4/5
We stayed at this hotel for a couple’s weekend getaway even though we live only 15 minutes away. One thing to know is that the rooms are much smaller than other Marriott autograph collection properties. We chose a deluxe king room with balcony which literally points toward the parking lot and with night time freeway noise. If you are expecting to come to a resort with a comfortable and large room this is not the property you are looking for. On the positive side, the staff and guest services people are all top notch and the property very clean and tidy. The area couldn’t be better as you are within walking distance of excellent restaurants and activities. Just beware of the room size you choose!
- 5/5
First time staying here and it was exquisite. Will come back for all future visits to San Juan.
- 5/5
My GF and I spent New Year’s at this hotel and it was just as we expected gorgeous very welcoming room very clean and breathtaking food was amazing staff very friendly and respectful we will be coming again soon 10/10

Assigned room didn't match the room book trough expedia. Very small balcony facing a very ugly parking lot, Motel 6 might have the same view
- 5/5
Great spot
- 5/5
Amazing!! Everything spectacular.
- 5/5
Wonderful customer service, staff was so friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay here very much!
- 5/5
Outstanding service in a gorgeous setting reflecting the Mission San Juan Capistrano. Beautifully appointed, immaculate rooms, and very comfortable beds. We dined at Ysidora Restaurant . Food & service were top notch. Highly recommend. Can’t wait to return. Great location for walking to explore the area. It was a lovely treat.
- 3/5
The reason I stay at a nice hotel with nice facilities is because I think I will be allowed access. So to be refused, particularly as I was staying 6 nights, was quite frustrating. Overall, nice hotel but there are no perks.
- 5/5
Beautiful property in a great location! Stayed here the night of our daughter's wedding. Would highly recommend!
- 5/5
Amazingly beautiful property. Will return.
- 5/5
Gorgeous hotel, staff a wonderful and rooms are pristine. Great location and walkable to many shops and restaurants!
- 5/5
Place is immaculate. Wonderful staff. Wonderful area of to-do’s.
- 5/5
Beautiful property with very friendly and courteous staff.
- 5/5
The hotel is nearly brand new with very clean and comfortable rooms. The hotel is right next to the Mission with amazing views of the surrounding area.
- 5/5
This hotel was one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at! They upgraded our room to a suite because we were there for two nights for our wedding. There entire staff was so kind and helpful as well. Highly recommend visiting!!
- 5/5
Great property, location mediocre
- 5/5
This stay was one of the most relaxing short vacations I have ever taken. Lovely accoms, a delightful scent to greet you on arrival, Cordial and friendly staff from the front desk to the housekeeping staff. Would definitely return.
- 5/5
Staffs are very courteous and friendly
- 5/5
Lovely place great location very clean
- 3/5
For the rate per night and added extras definitely not worth the price. The rooms are average at best.
- 5/5
All good
- 1/5
Noisy, dirty and smelly
- 1/5
We paid a premium to stay here and did not get a premium experience. They lost our luggage for half a day. The cleaning crew left dirty rags in our room. Our towels were all ripped up. The front desk repeatedly made costly mistakes and then refused to take responsibility/do anything to make up for it. Stay elsewhere if you're going to San Juan Capistrano. This place is not worth the extra cost.
- 5/5
Wonderful atmosphere
- 5/5
Beautiful property with cozy rooms and a nice balcony
- 3/5
Pool is small and has been colonised by very young children with inflatables. I’m not a curmudgeon but it made an end of day dip impossible for adults. Outside seating is tired. Inside furnishings were good. Service at the valet, bar and front desk excellent… except for diy housekeeping in the bathroom. Hotel food adequate but not excellent. Several decent alternatives near by bloom, mayfield and ciao pasta. Overpriced by c. 150 in my opinion.
- 5/5
Nice hôtel, central located within walking distance to the Mission, restaurants, bars and boutiques. Staff was very accommodating and polite.
- 3/5
I thought the rooms were a little dated
- 5/5
We stayed her for two nights my our boys and enjoyed it very much, friendly staff, great pool and nice bar and restaurant.
- 5/5
The staff could not have been any kinder. We went for a concert across the street at the mission which was so convenient. The restaurant food was incredible. We enjoyed the beautiful and diverse neighborhood and amazing places to eat. Can't wait to come back!
- 5/5
Great location. Easy access to Capistrano and the Mission. Clean new facility.
- 1/5
Our short family visit was cut short due to this inconvenience.
- 5/5
This property is an 11 out of a 10. The property is immaculate and the staff go out of their way to make your stay wonderful. They even gave my mother transportation via a golf cart to the downtown area for her comfort. This is a must stay, even a destination stay.
- 3/5
Beautiful hotel. Friendly staff at check in. Gorgeous room. $35 daily fee is actually a credit you can use at the bar/restaurant. "Olive oil tasting" was a surly bartender setting - practically tossing - two small slices of baguette with olive oil on them in front of us with no explanation. So, One slice each, one kind of olive oil, not sure what it was but that's ok. Just don't call it a "tasting". Walls are thin - we were kept up most of the night by next door neighbors who cranked music and stayed up laughing and talking loudly for hours. Called the front desk who sent security... they were quiet for about an hour, then it started again. Our splurge on a "nice" hotel for a weekend with my mom and daughter felt like a bust. At least the property itself is lovely. Won't go back.
- 5/5
Hotel is very nice, right next to the mission! Great location, very clean!
- 4/5
The hotel is immaculate and looks very new. The decor is beautiful and a perfect balance of fresh and modern, and cozy and traditional, befitting the area. The hotel offer perks that come with the destination fee: free Mission entry, f&b credit BUT make sure you ask for these or you will likely miss out! The hotel gave us complimentary mini champagne for our anniversary. Cons: Expedia does not show up to date destination fee (was $35 not $25) and all taxes that are added to your room. While most staff were great, the barman at the restaurant was awful - unfriendly and sub par service. The complimentary 'olive oil tasting' was a joke - one tiny bit of bread with some oil dripped on top (with no info about it) - but at least it was free! The valet parking seemed expensive at $45 per night - no self park option was available.
- 5/5
Great customer service
- 5/5
My wife and I have stayed at a lot of properties over the years and this one was all 10s across the board. Overall the best hotel experience with walking distance to everything you would want to do.
- 4/5
Nice hotel & really central to some great places to eat. If there’s a wedding be ready for the noise & very busy pool/spa & bars.
- 5/5
Nice town to stay, great restaurants nearby
- 5/5
Excellent, can’t wait to visit again
- 4/5
Ysidro restaurant was terrible service was really bad and and food that came out of kitchen did not match the menu discripition
- 5/5
If I could give it more stars I would. The service and staff are the gold standard for how this industry should operate. The grounds are beautiful and so peaceful. The location is amazing. This hotel is perfect.
