Hilton Santa Monica Hotel & Suites

I specifically booked this hotel through Booking.com because breakfast was included in the reservation. However, the hotel refused to honor this and did not provide breakfast. The staff showed little interest in helping or finding a solution, leaving me to deal with the problem myself. This level of customer service is unacceptable and significantly impacted my overall experience. I would not stay here again.

Loved the lobby area and pool! Great place and very much enjoyed. No free coffee in the lobby was my only complaint- but there is a Starbucks barista at the bar for paid coffee drinks (and there is a free coffee machine in your room). Liked there was a fridge for our room.

I enjoyed my stay at the hotel and found the location to be excellent. Although I was allocated one of the least desirable rooms, located very close to the gym, the overall experience was positive. However, I believe there is one area that could be improved. For a hotel of this category, staff should pay closer attention to children running around the breakfast area and handling food with their hands. This is not very hygienic and increases the risk of contamination, especially when other guests may unknowingly consume food that has already been touched. I believe better supervision in the breakfast area would help maintain higher hygiene standards and improve the experience for all guests.

We got a 2 bed suite and it was absolutely lovely. Lobby staff was very friendly and welcoming at arrival. Room was ready before 4pm for check in and we were able to leave our luggage to walk around while waiting since we arrived early. Very clean and comfy beds. Breakfast has all the essentials, nothing too crazy for the buffet, but it was included so we were happy with it. Location was great for our needs, everything walking distance! Overall a great stay! They were not serving lunch the first 2 days we stayed there (week days), and fresh coffee is not always available for purchase at the bar, although they do have the little store in the lobby. I will say the lowest point in our stay was the staff that worked for breakfast. Not in the best mood nor accommodating. Us asking for them to not fill up our cups with coffee and bring us some warm milk for it seemed to annoy them, and they had arguments of who's turn is to seat guests in the middle of the restaurant. That doesn't look good.

This hotel was in perfect location to Santa Monica Beach/pier. Just a short walk to the beach also a few amazing restaurants a small walk away. Hotel was very clean and the staff was amazing. The gym was very good for our Hotel . Would highly recommend staying here.

I found the sheets were stained. They were laundered. However, there were stains on parts of it. Luckily, I bring my own sheets.

The property didn’t have any negatives. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The first suite I was given at check in didn’t get much direct sunlight (it was pool facing on level 3 and had only 1 window which too was covered with plants) , but after I mentioned it to the staff, they smoothly moved me to a brightly lit higher-floor corner suite the next day, which was very nice. The location is also highly convenient, just a few minutes' walk from the beach. Solid choice for a stay in the area.

Only complaints were the 5 am fire alarm/false alarm when we stayed there and the sewer smell coming from the sink drain. Understandably there isn't much that could be done about either.

Great hotel. We were disappointed that we were not able to get into the room until after the posted check in time. However, they accommodated us when we requested a late check out.

Hilton was not what I expected, when we walked into our room it reeked of marijuana. And the beds are horrible, they are concaved and was so uncomfortable, every one of us woke up with back pain. Additionally, we ran out of toilet paper and waited 3 hours for it to arrive and had to call 3 times for it. We also asked them to charge the Tesla and when we woke up it wasn’t charged. We also asked for multiple things, like hot water and tea and called multiple times to remind them and at the end of the day it still never came. Also no fan in the bathroom, the room was ALWAYS humid.

I used the fitness room/gym. This was well equipped, with a range of CV machines, weight machines and dumbbells. All the hotel staff (front desk, restaurant and cleaning etc) were very polite and helpful. We very much enjoyed our stay at the Hilton and would highly recommend the hotel. The hotel’s location is in easy walking distance to the Pier, lots of shops and restaurants etc.

The check in staff are excellent. But, the cleaning staff need a refresher course on how to actually clean a room. Dirty glasses are left behind that I'm supposed to reuse? Dirty towels and floor mats are not replaced with clean. I'm supposed to reuse a dirty towel? At the price that I am paying per day, i expect clean towels and glasses. Not only that, the ice bucket full of water still remained. One would think that if the ice melts, it could be cleaned out.

Very nice but had no business center. Needed to find a new airline to return home after Spirit shut down during our vacation. Very difficult to do from my cell phone and spotty service

This hotel is lovely and very clean, it is well located and you can walk to downtown Santa Monica and the pier, the pool was also nice and was pretty quiet when we went to swim- so plenty of lounges available.

The staff at the hotel were so kind and clean and nice. The hotel was also quiet. It was close to the sea and close to the shopping center. I am willing to visit again.

I just have 2 complaints - the shower leaked every time I used it making th bathroom floor wet and the AC rattled for about 30 sec every time it cycled off which was loud enough to wake me up.

The Hilton app did not work at all. It would have been nice to use my cell as my door key.

Other than that this is a lovely hotel that will be our go to when I’m the area.

The only downside was the parking. It’s quite expensive, and since valet service is required, we felt obligated to tip each time the car was brought out, which quickly added up on top of the parking fee. That said, aside from the parking cost, everything else about our stay was great, and we truly enjoyed our time here.

We were staying there for the LA Marathon weekend and had a delightful experience walking to the pier for sunrise, going to URTH Cafe for brunch, renting bikes to go to Venice, and being so close to all the action of Santa Monica!

The room was nice, however, I am not happy with the fact that there was a huge public parking garage right next to the hotel. Yet when we arrived and I asked, was told there was no self parking and that valet parking would be automatically charged to my room per day. With taxes/tips this was an additional $400. Never-mind how we were made to feel about tipping for buffet breakfast or paying almost $100 with automatic 20% gratuity added, for a hamburger and a salad. As a new Hilton member I am not impressed.

I generally love the Hilton, but this was a bad experience having me reconsider whether this is the chain I prefer. My parents were in a double queen room, which didn’t have a dresser or enough space to fully open a suitcase. I stayed in a 1-bedroom suite with my partner and 3 very little kids. The space was fine but definitely could’ve been bigger. There wasn’t a really dresser, but 4 oddly shaped cube drawers. There were no robes, which was disappointing. We prepaid for the breakfast, which was a mistake. There was soggy bacon, poorly cooked powdered eggs floating in grey water, and stale pastries. The restaurant manager said we were disturbing other guests (we have 1 year old twins), and asked if we’d consider eating outside or in our rooms, which made us feel completely unwelcome. They claim to be family friendly, but we felt ostracized and like we were paying $300/night to accommodate THEM instead of the other way around. The location is fine relative to all the Santa Monica has to offer, but I wouldn’t stay here again.

Joshua was very friendly at check-in. Our room and the hotel were very clean and comfortable. The limited hours of the bar and being closed at 10pm on New Years Eve and the day of the Rose Bowl was dissapointing.

The staff was very nice and accommodating with an early check-in and late check out. The bed and the pillows were so comfortable. Just there for one night, but it made a hectic trip much better with the ease of staying at this property!

Rooms are very small and we had to ask for extra linens because we were missing some sheets. They didn’t have in room dining other than the weekends. The time we ordered they go our orders wrong. The breakfast staff was unfriendly and not customer oriented. They didn’t pick up our trash on a couple of occasions. Overpriced and I wouldn’t stay there again. The valet staff were extremely nice

The front desk called 2-3 times in the middle of the night telling us to move our car. I kept telling him we had no car. We ubered there. After telling him over and over, he kept calling, he finally realized he was calling the wrong room over and over. Our room was supposed to be ready by 4pm, they said it was guaranteed, it was not. I’m traveling alone with 3 kids. Horrible experience

The hotel is amazing, beautiful interior and great rooms. The only downside is the location as it is about a 15 minute walk away from everything and that walk becomes quite sketchy once night rolls around. Also, the valet parking is $55 when you can just park across the street for $14.

Room was very clean, only comment that the room would benefit from replacement windows but in general the staff were very polite and helpful area was decent with town within walking distance and always felt safe when out and about.

It was a small stuffy room, very bare bones - no decor, white walls, a view of a parking lot, not even a pen and paper or water in the room.

Loved staying here! The open atrium, fast elevators, excellent staff, comfortable room - it was all fantastic! The only thing to mention would be the sliding pocket door between the bathroom and the bedroom: it didn't fully close and was difficult to move. Otherwise we had a great stay and would definitely come back!

Ideal location near shops and dining. Our room was spacious for a family with two small kids. We left valuables in the safe and staff were amazing to contact us after we had checked out and stored our valuables until we returned to pick them up.

I stayed here for a work trip and while the hotel was very busy, it was so unbelievably quiet. I swear I didn't hear anyone in the rooms around me. The hotel restaurant was also very good and a great positive to staying here. The staff was super nice and friendly. It's also a 15 minute walk to the beach which I think is a benefit because it's not very touristy and makes it cleaner and more quiet.

I had to check in about 3am and valet was out and front desk accommodated my off hours arrival.

I stayed here for 2 weeks while receiving medical treatment at UCLA. Cannot say enough about quality of services across the board from staff, to room, to facilities. One of the best hotels in its class I’ve ever stayed at.

Due to a late arrival and the hotel being overbooked our reservation was canceled.

I was forced to go to another hotel for one night due to overbooking and have now been charged for Hilton (which was overbooked) AND the other hotel charged my card. I need a refund for both.

AC not cold. Hotel limits AC to uncomfortably high temperature. Room so warm at night can barely breathe. No one was helpful. They said it's policy. What's the point of getting a hotel room without such a basic comfort? The whole point is to get a good night sleep.

We had a suite which was spacious and clean - perfect for our family. The kids loved the pool too. Marked down one star because of the cost of the parking $55 per day plus tax and also the housekeeping did not replenish things like cups or coffee pods so we kept having to ask for them. Other than that it was all good and I would stay here again

Great place to stay if you have a big family. We were for adults, mom dad and adult sons. We had a suite with a pullout couch. Everyone was happy. The boys didn’t have to share a bed that was a bonus it provide Extra space as well. The room was very clean very modern and updated. The coffee provided was nasty but that’s the only thing negative I can say. Park across the street at the Civic Center for cheaper parking easy walk just crossed the main road. The proximity to the beach was good not too far. The sidewalks are a little dirty but it’s a city enjoyed our stay would stay again.

We checked in to this hotel on September 4th for 3 nights. I asked the front desk clerk whose name was Joshua if I could have a quiet room and high floor. He was so nice. He said yes but I had to wait an hour for the room to be ready. We said no problem and went to the pool (as he gave us pool keys) and stayed there until our room was ready. Pool was really nice, but what would make it better would be a pool bar (but it's a rather small area). Note about the parking. We are single women and the valet was very expensive, so he suggested the parking lot across the street was a lot cheaper, so that's where we parked. Thanks to him, we saved ourselves a lot of money. The hotel is close walking distance to the Santa Monica Pier and other attractions and restaurants and the ocean. Our room was spotless. We booked a 1 bedroom suite and it was the nicest hotel room we received on our 7 day trip to California. I highly recommend this beautiful clean hotel.

Well equipped and convenient hotel in Santa Monica, family-friendly. Spacious rooms, good water pressure in the shower, comfortable beds. The aircon is a bit loud and one can’t open the windows. The TV is not a smart TV, so no ability to watch Disney + or other streamers. The pool is nice, even though medium sized for such a large hotel. The food market in the lobby could have for choice for snacks, but supermarkets are not far. Staff is teally nice.

It was my first time staying at this Hilton in Santa Monica! I’m usually at the Beverly Hills location, but I loved the convenient restaurants, shops, and nearby pier. Also the rooms were very clean and the bed was comfy. Plus it was an easy 30min drive to LAX! Next time I’m in Santa Monica, I’ll have stay here again!

The hotel and its staff were fantastic. The room was gorgeous and bigger than we anticipated. Our room location on the 7th floor looked out to the ocean. Here are our only concerns: upon check in they had a security guard in the lobby. The front staff said it was normal procedure on the weekends. I understood why as we were walking back from dinner one night and there was a homeless man passed out in the bushes on the hotel property. Also, there is only valet parking available on site ($55 night) BUT they were prompt and courteous when we called for the car. It would have been nice to have another option. The only other disappointment was we were hoping to have a quick drink upon checking in but we were told the restaurant/bar didn’t open until 5pm (on a Friday). Not sure if this was due to staffing or ???. This trip was for a specific event nearby at Venice Beach. Had the hotel been in a nicer area we would consider staying there again when visiting.

Check in was quick and easy. Staff was super friendly and welcoming. Location was close to the beach and the surrounding area felt safe and walkable. My family stayed in the king suite and the setup was perfect, it was almost like having two separate spaces which was great for traveling with a teenager. Our room was close to the road and it did get a noisy at night. Our bed was also not as comfortable as I had hoped for. We didn't visit the restaurant because it was just too far outside of our price range, plus the added surcharge. Overall, we had a great experience and would stay here again.

Beware of booking this hotel on third party sites. I was stuck in a room in the back with a view of the alley, despite having checked into a better room on the Hilton app.

Perfect location for walking to dining options and the pier/beaches.

The room carpets had a strong, unpleasant odor, and to make matters worse, I had to kill a cockroach that appeared on the carpet at night. When I informed the reception, their reaction was shockingly casual — just an “Oh, that’s bad,” with no apology or effort to make things right. For a 4-star hotel and a recognized brand, this level of hygiene and customer service is absolutely unacceptable. I will never stay here again, and I would not recommend it to anyone!!!!

The people were very nice, but unfortunately, they placed my room right next to the staff’s door. The door kept slamming open and shut throughout the day.

The hotel is conveniently situated close to the city center and beach. The staff is very polite and helpful and check-in was quick. On the other hand, meals and drinks in the hotel are very expensive and a 18 % service charge is added to everything. Also, there is no normal parking (only very expensive valet parking). Some rooms are also quite noisy as the hotel is situated in the corner of the freeway.

Tried checking into the hotel at 12:30pm and was told my room was ready but that it would be an extra $100 to check in before 1:00pm. Ridiculous and a terrible way to start off someone’s stay at the hotel.

The staff were excellent, especially the breakfast team—everyone was exceptionally courteous, helpful, and accommodating. The breakfast was fresh and very good with a lot of variety. A big shoutout to both the breakfast crew and the housekeeping staff for going above and beyond to make this stay truly outstanding! Would highly recommend to friends, family, or anyone looking for an excellent option to stay at Santa Monica.

Location was ok. Able to walk to pier

Beautiful room, clean and big, good for families. Staff friendly. Location is very convenient and close to beach and the shuttle service is great.

We had a last minute reservation because of trouble with our accommodation- the staff were friendly and accommodating. The beds were comfortable and we were able to check out late.

Hotel was fine besides the power going out in the room. We had to swap rooms to finish getting ready.

The front desk staff was dismissive and rude (especially the young African American man- forgot his name but he was the worst) and they didn’t apply the daily $35 credit to my account but instead charged me extra. The parking was extremely expensive $55 a night, but they were nice and quick at Valet. Housekeeping were all sweethearts. I would never choose this hotel again.

Excellent hotel! The only issue I had was with the price of on-site valet parking. literally a rip-off. There's great self-parking just across the street...

Good hotel beds comfortable/ family of four good space / gym good and pool only got free water first day for room

Great location to the beach and 3rd street. Santa Monica also offers a free shuttle
