The Pierside Santa Monica

The property was perfect. Close to amenities, bike rentals, and restaurant onsite.

Can’t beat the location. Super friendly and helpful staff. Pier is across the street and Third St shopping is 2 blocks away.

Service in restaurant was terrible, as well as had to ask multiple times for towels. Additionally, the hallway in our floor had a terrible odor for the 3 days we stayed there.

The property was amazing and the staff was super helpful. Pool was also super clean and well maintained. Convenient location close to the pier and an awesome location for families. Very walkable to shopping and restaurants. We would definitely stay there again in the future.

Location, staff, restaurant Handicap room wasn’t as accessible as it should be. Should have an additional chair with side arms in the bathroom for sitting after getting out of bathtub/shower. Bathtub a little high for stepping over into even though there was a seat. Should have a side table as sink was a little high and not a lot of room on each side for toiletries, cumbersome when sitting in wheelchair. There was no closet in the handicap room for hanging clothes and bathroom door was really hard to close.

The hotel was really close to the Santa Monica pier, and there was a rail station 5 min walk, which was really comfortable. The stuff was amazing and kind, the room was big, modern and clean.

Clean nice room with a lovely view and close to the pier. The only thing that could be better is a better selection of food and snacks for kids. Traveled with 3 kids and walked to the pier and beach. We spent more time crossing the street to go to McDonald's for the kids which was helpful as well. When we needed more towels they brought them up fast. They were out of chairs for the beach but the umbrella and beach blanket made up for it. Complimentary bath robes were a nice touch.

We received an upgrade not to our liking, one king bed instead of two queens and a view that was not what we selected when booking. Great location for hotel . They need to manage their reservations more accurately. We were not offered or given any compensation or redress for their error. Very unprofessional and disappointing. Would not recommend

Very nice and conveniently located property. Room was good, bed comfy, couch equally the same. Staff were helpful and polite. Only downside was the sink wouldn't drain too well and shower pressure was very low. Nothing dealbreaking.

We enjoyed our stay at the Pierside. It was located right next to the Santa Monica Pier and close to the 3rd Street promenade. Great location. The rooms were clean and the staff was helpful. We would definitely return if we are in the area again.

We enjoyed our stay. The location was great and walk able to pier and beach also to the downtown area with many great restaurants and shops. The area felt safe. We booked ahead and was disappointed when we arrived the only room they was ADA. We took the room because the front desk gentleman said their was nothing else available. The room was well equipped for ADA but lacked amenities for not ADA-no closet or areas to unpack your clothes. While the bathroom was very large to accommodate ADA it smelled musty. We think the room hadn't been used in some time. They do charge $70.00 for parking. You can park in a nearby public parking if you choose.

The only area that could use some improvement is that certain facilities like Pool you need to go trough parking garage to access pool which is not ideal, it is also relatively small and somewhat crowded

last minute stay and very nice

We stayed at this hotel for only one night during a long road trip, and breakfast at the restaurant was supposed to be the one service we enjoyed during our stay. Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. We waited around 15 minutes just to be seated while the staff member handled multiple other tasks, despite the restaurant not being particularly busy. Since we were traveling with a child, this was especially frustrating. We eventually left without eating, and the response from the hotel afterward did not feel appropriate. Sadly, I would not recommend this restaurant based on our experience.

Comfortable room and bed, sweet and helpful staff, good gym, the pool is just okay. didn't use it after we saw it was next to a highway and the cars racing by were very loud. Plus there weren't many chaise loungers and the sun was partially obstructed.

From check-in to daily interactions, everyone was always helpful and genuinely kind, creating a very pleasant atmosphere. The room was another highlight: spacious, modern, comfortable, and very well maintained. The hotel manages to combine a contemporary style with real comfort, not just aesthetics. Everything felt functional, clean, and thoughtfully designed. As a point of attention, the hotel parking is quite expensive at $65 per night. For longer stays, this can significantly increase the overall cost of the trip. Because of that, we chose to park at a public parking garage located just half a block away, which was a much more reasonable option. Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely consider staying here again.

The only downside was the parking. The valet service is quite expensive, which was surprising since the parking appears to be in the same building as the hotel. Overall, a great stay thanks to the location and service, but the parking cost is something to be aware of.

10 out of 10, would definitely recommend! Pierside's location is perfect. Within walking distance to so many eateries and shopping at the 3rd ST Promenade. Sophia was so pleasant at check-in and the staff is very accommodating. We received a complimentary hour on the electric bikes, which was a fun activity. If I'm ever in the area again, this will be my first choice!

The beds were uncomfortable. I woke up with a sore back every morning and I’m not even that picky. Also the location next across from the pier is amazing but the best coffee shops and restaurants are at least a 20 minute walk away if you don’t have a car. The staff was very helpful and gave me great tips and suggestions about the area and it was so clean and very safe but if you’re a midlife girlie looking for some R&R you might want to find a different spot.

I love how the hotel is super clean, welcoming and very walm.. enjoyed our stay. Although there is absolutely no free parking. Valet only parking is 65 a day and you are kind of left with no option but to pay. It's a rip off. Otherwise it was a great experience overall

Staff were friendly and attentive. The room was very nice and clean. The pool is next to the freeway, down a set of stairs. It is very nice, has good seating, however it is below the dumpsters for the kitchen and the lids for the dumpster were open and hanging over the lounge chair area. We were concerned we'd end up under a bag of trash while laying out.

Yes, the valet is a little bit expensive and the taxes also ridiculous but it is really convenient because some other places would charge you to come in and out so in the end the last night we decided to do valet and I’m glad we did. I like that they had bikes and surfboards and beach chairs along with beach towels, right there as you leave. Everybody on the staff was super accommodating and helpful from the concierge at the front desk to the cleaning staff to the valet attendants. All were top notch nice. I didn’t really notice the traffic sounds until the last morning, but it didn’t wake me up or was extremely loud to me and I’m a pretty light sleeper so if you are not a fan of hearing the freeway at night, you might not want to stay here. But like I said, I am a light sleeper and it didn’t bother me. I would definitely consider coming back here to stay for a girls trip or a nice short, romantic getaway with my husband.

Gym has a few cardio machines, peloton bike, and dumbbells up to 70. But only one bench and space is tight. AC didn’t work in gym area so temp was 80+ in gym every time we used it. Pool is great area

The room was noisy and i couldn't sleep. Hotel staff said because the rooftop unit makes a lot of noise. He could not change me to another room. All he could do is bring me earplugs.

Valet parking cost is ridiculous

By far the best hotel experience I’ve ever had. Stayed here last minute for my birthday & from the moment I called for early check in (345pm) until the moment I checked out… amazing customer service. I believe his name was Ty that checked me in, started off by wishing me a happy birthday and letting me know they gave me the best room possible, he said sadly the suites were full but they still put me top floor with the water and park view. They gave me so many complimentary drinks and when I went into the room, they had a beautiful smores dessert and a bottle of alcohol for me, with a card wishing me a happy birthday. The blackout curtains were amazing. AC wasn’t too loud and I honestly slept amazing. The pillows and mattress were the comfiest I’ve laid on. I’ll forever brag about this hotel and staff and will absolutely be staying here again and again. It’s also right by the boardwalk, maybe a 30 second walk. A huge parking garage across the street as well if you aren’t able to pay for their valet parking! Tons of great food and bars in walking distance too. 1000/10.

First the front desk staff tried to pull a stunt and give us a room with only a chair, not the sofa pictured in the room that I picked. I returned to the front desk and had to have this corrected - shame on you! The luggage rack was broken - we asked for a replacement, but it took so long we cancelled the request. We asked for champagne glasses, but they cannot accommodate this and were told there are two water glasses in the room we can use - there was only one glass - OK forget it. Only one hand towel was inconvenient but fine. I have given rave restaurant reviews on Yelp in the past but not this time - the food was just OK, not amazing like previous visits. The front desk wasn't very friendly and trying to push some terrible room on us at the onset really set the mood. We will check out shore in February. Sorry Pierside - whomp whomp.

nice hotel. when we first arrive nice man on the front desk said that if we need late checkout just ask him. we had two rooms. needed checkout till three oclock. then later we asked and one man with bad mood said that its no possiblity. iif you pay 50€ pet hour you can have. later one lady told that you can stay one more hour. next time we dont go to this hotel, dont like if receptionists are rude.

Very poor service, false advertising as they charge you an additional "surprise" "destination amenity fee" of $45 a day...!! We had a fully prepaid reservation and they said this was use use of amenities like the gym, pool etc! LOL what a joke. have travelled 20 years and have never ever had this surprise. What not charge that upfront??? Also The fitness picture on the hotel website is falsified as it has a mirror that makes the gym look very big...it is tiny, hot, sun bears through the glass and good luck trying to workout here. The room TV and netflix casting wa snot working so had to get the engineer to fix it...a very grumpy guy...-and the toilet flush had to be flushed 3 times everytime as it was very weak. One day I was tired and got takeout and came back and called the reception to see if I could get a plate and utensils...they promised right away...it never came, no call back to explain...sonInhad to go done and get it myself. The walls to the adjoining room were super thin and I could hear all the conversations .... Please avoid this hotel ..... Oh yah we got in a few hours early and they had the room ready but said they would charge an additional $50 as we were early, or we could wait for check in time! Omg....really!

RUN, FAR FAR AWAY!! The absolute worst stay unfortunately due to the GM and housekeeping of all things. ZERO accountability!! I always put WiFi cameras in my room due to having a service dog. The housekeeper was caught, looking directly at the camera, walking over and covering it up with a pillow multiple times! Our luggage and my wife’s purse was then rifled through among other things. Fortunately my cameras alert me and we returned immediately and made her leave before anything could be taken. We addressed it with the GM and she reduced it to trivial nonsense, and of course the housekeeper is one of her best so the customer is always wrong! Great concept! Customer service CA style typical! She literally couldn’t stop yawning long enough to last a 3 minute conversation, insulting at best. Sent it to corporate, NO RESPONSE!! I guarantee after I send it to every news channel in the US they will come up with an answer! Theft and lies, poor customer service, and I didn’t even get a chance to actually talk about the facility shortcomings.

They only have valley parking and it’s $72 bucks. Who wants to pay for parking when you’re staying at a hotel. Find hotels that offer free parking and free breakfast and a microwave and complimentary 2 water bottles.

The Pierside offers a great location hotel, right on the Santa Monica Pier. The only parking option onsite is valet parking for an extortionate $68 per night (we used the multistory over the road for $20 per day). The hotel room was nice enough, good bed, comfortable, good amount of space. Let down a little by towels that had seen their day (dirty marks, felt old), and the air-con in the room was super loud. Don’t let that put you off staying, on the whole it was a great hotel for our short stay. The restaurant (The Surfing Fox) has some incredible food, would definitely recommend!

Whilst the interior of the room was lovely, there was a large gap around the bedroom door which let in a lot of light from the corridor. On querying this at reception we were told nothing could be done about it and many of the bedroom doors had gaps as it was the nature of the building. It is an expensive place to stay with a good location therefore it was really disappointing to have the good aspects completely negated by an ill fitting door. If you like a dark room for sleeping this is not the hotel for you.

Right at the foot of the Santa Monica Pier! Entrance to the high way right there close. Bicycle rental place and parking garage right across the street! Free use of boogie boards included. Cool tubular fireplace in the lobby with a warm gas fire crackling was a nice touch. Also we had a very tasty and quality brunch at the bar of the hotel restaurant, and the bartender was so very nice, and shared around a complimentary fresh carrot juice he had just made from huge carrots brought back from the farmer's market a couple blocks away! We loved our stay at the Pierside!

So the experience is definitely needed to work on as when I got there we got charged for valley parking yet we had to park our own car as there were no valley available. As well they charged me incidental fee which is fine but hasn’t been returned.. as well ima assume that the manager went to where our car parked and was just keeping an eye on us which ima go ahead and assume because I’m possibly brown and it looks like only white people would be there and he went all the way to our front window and peeked his head and asked us if we were ballet parking .. honestly was a bad experience over all.

The hotel is in a convenient location and very walkable. The property looks like it has been renovated, and the decor choices look great. Lobby is nice. Staff were friendly. The property does have lingering issues of an older building: Bathroom was small, toilet was weak, the lights went out while my daughter was in the shower. Our room had a pull out bed but no bedding. We did not visit the on site restaurant.

The only good part about this hotel is the hotel staff was really great! Other than that, it wasn’t the best experience. I wish I would have spent my money on a different hotel. Had to change rooms, phone didn’t work, the elevator was so small (I’m claustrophobic) I had to walk the stairs every single time I went up or down from the room. Not to mention I had 2 kids with me, 1 of which is a toddler. The site makes the hotel look a lot nicer than it is.

The property was in a great location. The restaurant was easy & good food options. The room itself was fine, seemed to be missing some furniture (odd open space). The bathroom was tiny & there weren’t any hand towels - very odd all the way around. Staff was hit or miss. The parking fee was OUTRAGEOUS

I'd give this place 5 stars but due to the parking charges I cut one off. $80 dollars a night to park your car at the hotel your staying at is ridiculous. We asked the attendant if there was any public garages nearby and he said no. However, there's 2 right across the street.

Staff is wonderful, they also let you take chairs, towels, and blankets to the beach even on your check out day. I stayed one night and enjoyed the shopping center my first day, my second day even after checking out they let me take the chairs and towels to the beach and held my luggage. Definitely recommend for anyone looking for a nice hotel in a fun spot of Santa Monica!

The hotel is located in an ideal spot. Close to the pier, beach, shopping, and restaurants. I traveled alone and felt very safe. The hotel is clean and the staff is friendly. I could see the beach and Pacific Ocean while sitting on the sectional sofa in my room.

Such a cute hotel in the perfect place. For sure coming back to stay! I wouldn’t bring a car. Parking is expensive.

Great hotel, great stay.

Second time I’ve stayed here. Rooms are great and location is super. The amenities and on site restaurant are also a bonus.

We loved the view of the water! The beds and pillows were very comfortable but the water pressure in the shower was very weak.

No face towels in my room I’m not a happy Guest

When I booked, I paid extra for a pier-side view, but instead, I ended up with a view of a McDonald’s! I could barely see the pier from my room, and I was extremely disappointed given how much I paid for the view. I asked for a room change because the view advertised simply did not exist. I felt completely misled. The lady at the front desk apologized and said they would improve their room descriptions. Honestly, it felt like I was scammed. I should definitely be refunded for the additional amount I paid for a view that was never there.

Window glass was broken and we didnt know prior. Homeless people around the area makes the surrounding area dangerous.

Everything was on point but the parking fees

Fresh, clean room with essential amenities. Nice restaurant and bar. Within walking distance to the beach and shopping area.

I had a great experience during my stay. Attentive staff. Seamless check-in/check-out process. Cozy room. I will definitely be returning for future visits, and would highly recommend this place to any and everyone.

The Santa Monica pier was a stone’s throw away as was the 3rd St Promenade. I loved the fire and the comfy seats in reception. The restaurant has great decor. Loved our stay!

Great location, easy to walk to everything! Easy parking but very expensive! Friendly staff, clean and updated rooms. Pool area is tiny.,.but with beach across street, pool wasn’t necessary but I stayed in spring, in summer might be more likely to use pool

We were surprised to find out the only onsite parking option is $64 per day valet parking. There is a garage near by, but be aware it is difficult to navigate to on your first day. The elevator is small, slow and often not working. Will NOT stay there in the future.

The property’s location was excellent. I loved the surrounding area and proximity to the beach.

Loved the location

Super close to the train station and right across from the Pier. So many good spots to eat and drink within a short drive. If you are driving, the entrance is a bit tricky to spot.
