With prices being crazy high - it was affordable. The staff were friendly and helpful. The bunk bed was small and the room felt small for 6x people.
- 5/5
First time staying in a hostel and I will definitely stay in another based on my experience here. Taylor was especially helpful. Thanks again!
- 5/5
Very convenient location right next to the market. Wonderful staff, very accommodating and a very clean and Safe facility. I enjoy this location. Central to everything PNW... Not very much to dislike.

Great location & awesome atmosphere!! None.

Easy check in/out. All the staff are super friendly! They offer something free every evening, Sunday they do free dinner. Lovely place

The kitchen and breakfast were amazing. There was a staff member every morning (in a bright vest) who refreshed the coffee/food, assisted with questions, and kept the dishes cycling through the sanitizer. Solid continental breakfast plus trays of eggs (for people to cook themselves). Large selection of pots/pans/utensils as well as refrigerator space for personal food.

- 3/5
Extremely lovely staff all around. Super helpful and nice. Location is also 10/10. Curtains didn’t really close the bed off and were pretty poor. Everything pretty outdated. It was super noisy. Lots of loud music every night all night. Female dorm facing a bunch of drug addicts outside. Bathrooms are shower and toilet combined - had 2/5 and sometime 3/5 not operable. But were shared between like 20ppl. There were like 3 more on a different floor. But don’t expect to be able to pee when you need to. Also they clean the bathrooms 3 times a day but it isnt enough.
- 4/5
once I understood the process it went well , I was a little disappointed some of the other lodgers left their dishes in the sink waiting for mom? to do them , thanks so much for the individual fans. Loved ice cream night on Tuesday , staff were very nice and helpful , thanks for the hot chocolate to mix with my coffee. Cabs were cheaper than UBER to and from airport and cruise terminal someone to carry my way to big bag up the stairs , totally my bad
- 4.5/5
Great value
- 5/5
The staff is super friendly, their recommendations regarding where to eat and what to do in the evening were extremely helpful. Everything is very clean. Impossible to have a better location in downtown Seattle.
- 5/5
Super central Nice Clean Nothing
- 4/5
This is my first time at a hostel, and it definitely has its pluses and minuses. The pluses is that the staff members are extremely helpful and nice. There is free breakfast. It is right by Pike Market Place and lots of accessible public transportation. However, I would try to avoid going around the area late at night since it felt very unsafe. I think that it was fairly clean (depending on which bathroom you use -- it is communal style bathroom so be prepared for that). It is very you get what you pay for.
- 5/5
Great place to crash while staying in Seattle! Super convenient location to the Market (across the street), with tours offered by staff. Super friendly staff! Loved the smoking lounge.
- 5/5
Very delicious breakfast, great coffee & tea. Most of the people seemed nice enough. Fairly big common room and even a smoking lounge that I didn't really check out. You make your own bed, which suits me just fine. Showers, laundry facilities, group sinks for the dorms and even personal outlets fans for the beds. It's got everything a traveler needs really.
- 5/5
I like the memes in the bathroom
- 5/5
Loved this place!! Can’t wait to return!!
- 5/5
My first hostel and was amazing
- 5/5
Great staff, very helpful. Lovely place to stay.
- 5/5
It's pretty centrally located, as far as shopping and pubs and the like. The common area has a nice setup, and there's even a few recliners. I managed to do my laundry there too, which is great if you've been on the road for a bit.
- 5/5
Great location. Staff very nice and helpful. Kitchen well stocked. Clean bathrooms. Great breakfast included. There are also free specials every night (ice cream, wine, beer, spagetti, tacos).
- 3/5
Room dated and not the cleanest
- 5/5
Friendly staff and visitors. One of the finer hostel experiences I’ve had in 2+ decades of travel. Would absolutely stay again.
- 5/5
Great staff, good breakfast, lovely beds, and it always has a great crowd to meet and get to know.
- 5/5
You need some agility to climb up to the top bunk and it takes some extra time to use the bathroom, shower, and locker for a suitcase, but it wasn't ever a problem. You can store food in the kitchen and cook for yourself if you have time. The staff was always friendly and helpful.
- 1/5
in the website it is $60/day but they are charging $100 /day in actual and only take cash. Bad experience
- 5/5
Breakfast was great for free food
- 4/5
Friendly staff.
- 5/5
Clean room, super friendly staff, convenient location
- 5/5
staff where super kind and accommodating! my roommates for the night where also quiet and kind :)) would definitely recommend!
- 5/5
Enjoyed my stay!
- 4/5
The rooms were clean, and with privacy curtains for each bed - very nice touch. The staff was friendly and helpful, and they had lots of activities going. The location was central to everything I was doing in Seattle, I will be back when coming to Seattle.
- 5/5
Nice spot.
- 5/5
The hostel had a community feeling. Everything was clean and comfortable. Only downside is several roommates leaving early and interrupting sleep. Friendly staff.
- 4/5
You wasn't really too far from much of anything you could walk down to Pike Street. The pier wasn't too far either from there a bunch of different little shopping areas. A Target really close by. If you're a Target person and there's a little souvenir shop on the corner that has good deals
- 5/5
A vibrant classic hostel experience that lets you treat Pike Place Market like your home
- 5/5
Awesome place right in front of Pikes Market
- 5/5
For the price, it was all I’d have expected. Clean bed, sheets, common spaces, free breakfast, 24h lounge area.
- 5/5
The bathroom/shower setups are great & very clean
- 5/5
This was exactly what we needed. Close to tourist areas and transit, everything was also clean and welcoming.
- 5/5
Never stayed in a hostel before so this was a whole new experience. Every single staff member I encountered was more than accomodating and went above and beyond. Was different sharing a room with others however if you are just needing a simple nights sleep for a reasonable cost. This is your place.
- 5/5
Great staff
- 5/5
Pike can be a dodgey area at night time but the hostel itself was incredible! Free breakfast too!
- 3/5
Don’t like to be forced to write a review I don’t have a 41 characters to say
- 5/5
Exceptionally helpful and friendly. Shout out to: Sam (male and female), Nataly, Bellen, Melody and everyone else! If you solo travel, this is the best place to stay.
- 4/5
Amazing, definitely going back.
- 5/5
Great
- 4/5
Clean room, nice staff.
- 5/5
I thought it was fantastic. Great experience.
- 5/5
Location is the best, smacked right in Downtown and just 2 min walk away from the Pike Place Market. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Truly one of the best hostels I’ve been!
- 5/5
Good accomodation. I strongly recommend.
- 5/5
Great location with friendly staff.
- 5/5
Wonderful place, highly recommend. Walked to it after a Mariners night game, grabbed a snack on the way, safe and easy.
- 5/5
This place is a good spot to spend a day or two. Something different is offered each day saturday is free beer sunday free dinner .It's almost 20 fligts of stairs before you each front desk. Be Mindful of your luggage. The space is a bit dated and could use a few updates .The staff are supportive and helpful. Its close to the Market ,good food options and the waterfront
- 5/5
Super nice staff . Location couldn’t be better right at the entrance to pikes market so many shops and so much good food with in walking distance took train from airport super easy to get to .
- 5/5
Pricing was excellent for being close to the waterfront and market. Beds had privacy curtains & fans and the staff organized events each evening. Met some really great people as well who were staying there. I would recommend for staying downtown.
- 5/5
everything is really good, first time in hostel loved it
- 5/5
Can't beat the price/value ratio. And right by the main attraction I was looking to see which is the fish market.
- 5/5
room was nice and quiet; staff was super friendly, parking to check in was a little difficult, but it was a busy time of day with pedestrians.
- 3/5
Great location, no parking, need some renovation
- 4/5
Staff was wonderful!
- 4/5
This was a super place to stay! It definitely follows suit with other hostels with shared rooms and bunk beds, duh, but it's clean, the bathrooms and showers are plentiful and seem pretty new! The beds come with a light and fan which was really nice. Everyone was very helpful, breakfast was a nice addition and better than what you could get at a motel or something. Perfect location to everything and public transit too! Would definitely stay again! Thanks!!
- 5/5
Loved the place! It was my first solo trip and, as a woman, i wasn't too sure of staying in a hostel. But let me tell you all, i 've never felt safer. It's close to pretty much everything. I walked everywhere, didn't spend a dime on uber's or taxi's. There's a market right across the street and the hostel offers free breakfast. Overall it was a great experience
- 5/5
Great
- 4/5
Came to town to attend a concert, and this location was amazing. It was also nice to partake in the tours that are offered through the hostel. What a great way to travel… although, I haven’t stayed at a hostel in almost 10 years, it was a great way to meet other travellers .
- 5/5
I lost my bags and the staff were very helpful and gave me toiletries and a towel to use in the meantime. They also gave great advise on seeing seattle on a budget and food recommendations. Staff was awesome. Facility was clean. Bathrooms are nice
- 5/5
The best hostel I have ever stayed in. It is very clean, the bathrooms are clean and private, there are fun activities each day and good common areas. The staff was always pleasant and it was a terrific value in a fabulous location.
- 5/5
Would definitely come back!
- 2/5
The place was great amenities were awesome. The communication, parking, and overall check in process was very poorly thought out.
- 5/5
I loved it
- 5/5
Excellent staff Free dinner Quiet bedrooms Great showers Free breakfast
- 5/5
Great staff, vibe plus free breakfast. Amenities and cleanliness are above average as a hostel. Recommend to anyone looking for a economical accommodation.
- 5/5
Fantastic!! Personal fan, the reading light is more extremely bright and felt inconvenient to other roommates so I didn’t use it. The showers were a highlight.
- 5/5
I would definitely stay there again!
- 5/5
Excellent location. Super staff. Evening activities and guided tours offered. Clean bathrooms. First time at a hostel and I definitely enjoyed the experience!
- 4/5
I did like the green turquoise hostel. But what I didn't like was the fact that it was hard for me to tell exactly where It was at. When I finished with my activity, I couldn't find the Hostile until I came back around. I'm visually impaired so it was really hard for me to find out exactly where it was. Thank God after a while one of the staff was kind enough to lead me towards the hostel.
- 5/5
Well located, the market beside it is perfect!!!
- 5/5
It's right in the corner of the Pike Street Market. Had old charm. A big dining and sitting area. They even had a free dinner, beer and ice cream at 7:30. There were older people staying and a few couples. It was very welcoming.
- 5/5
Surprisingly clean and secure
- 5/5
My stay was very relaxing! I enjoyed the location, it’s truly in the heart ♥️ of Seattle!
- 5/5
I would stay again.
- 5/5
I lived with 7 other roommates and they were all polite and quiet at night. The hostel has free breakfast. The kitchen is communal and there’s always free food for people. Every night, the hostel will host different events like beer nights, karaoke nights, dinners and so on… this was my first time living in a hostel and I will definitely keep trying different hostels because of the nice experience I had here!
- 5/5
Really liked the breakfast area and the proximity to everything. I could get to the market, aquarium, museum, and space needle within 20 min of walking and the train and bus stops were close by for everything else. Everyone was very helpful with directions as well.
- 5/5
Very unique and enjoyable experience, close to everything downtown. Definitely will visit again.
- 5/5
good
- 4/5
I had a great time! It was my first hostel experience
- 5/5
I highly recommend staying at the Green Tortoise Hostel if your in town, plus it’s just steps across from the famous Market at Pike Place, and very close to the ferry as well!
- 5/5
Front Desk was friendly and are ready to help when you need assistance.
- 5/5
Wish I had stayed longer
- 5/5
The staff were all wonderful, knowledgeable and answered the many questions I had with smiles. It is an older building, the space is a little tight where the bunks are; none of which bothered me; I just needed a place to sleep and store my things while I attended my functions. I loved that they have nightly community gatherings; I did not attend those, but I liked that it was an option.
- 5/5
Great location!
- 5/5
Everything you'd expect from the services as advertised, clean, and the free breakfast was nice. My mattress had a hole in it which made sleeping on it in certain positions a little uncomfortable, though.
- 4/5
The communal space was always clean and relaxed atmosphere. My only suggestion is it would have been nice to rent or buy a washcloth from the front counter. Showers have no such device for cleaning oneself.
- 4/5
i stayed in the coed dorm and was disappointed that i was the only female in the room. so if you want to make some girlfriends maybe stick to the all female dorms
- 5/5
Great central location. Excellent staff. Well run, relaxed facility, really makes you feel at home.
- 5/5
Everything you could need from a hostel. Even includes free breakfast and free beer, wine, food and ice cream depending on the day
- 5/5
Stayed here for a solo trip for my birthday, originally planned to stay just 3 days but ended up extending my stay twice and stayed for a week! Very clean and great value, the staff is amazing and very helpful and kind. The bathrooms are private, kitchen is large with many appliances, the hostel has themed nights such as free wine, beer, ice cream, dinner etc. and a bar crawl, perfect for getting to know others who are also in the same boat as you and travelling solo. Also very close to pike place market, target store just below for grocery runs, and transportation stops range from 3-10 mins walk away. Very accommodating, I stayed in both the female dorms and the co ed dorms and have a great experience with all of them! 10/10 I would stay again!
- 5/5
Great area to be in if you want to go to pike market, friendly staff and free breakfast is a good thing
- 5/5
Excellent spot for budget travelers. I'm not a youngster but I felt quite at home.
- 5/5
Great affordable stay!
- 5/5
Great location, all you can eat breakfast, price, free walking tour with Emmitt, daily activities and lots of information.
- 3/5
Loud snoring roommate
- 5/5
This was an amazing place to stay! The communal concept was clearly well thought out and executed in the best fashion. The dudes at the front desk were knowledgeable, helpful, and easygoing. Honestly, probably one of the best hotel/travel experiences I’ve had in a while. Not sure when I’ll be returning to Seattle, but I will most definitely be staying at The Green Tortoise when I do. Kudos to All!
- 4/5
It was a nice visit place with a great neighborhood
- 5/5
As soon as I walked in, Front guy was handing a drink to a guest, spilled it and swore (not sure if towards the guest or the spilt drink). He was throwing guest's card back to them instead of gently putting it down. Swearing at minor inconveniences. Other hosts were talking when a guy came up and asked for a drink. He could've easily delegated the task to the other hosts but instead he swore and got the drink to the guest. The guy probably had a long day but it's kind of hard to feel welcome when that's the kind of attitude that "welcomes" you as soon as you walk in. Other than that, the hostel is very clean and is very close to everything that you will need while visiting.
- 5/5
Excellent property o my down side are the entrance stairs. Otherwise it’s perfect lovely. Literally next to public market and target.
- 3/5
Smells bad in the hallway.
- 4/5
I really enjoyed my stay at Green Tortoise. With the exception of one guy, the staff was helpful and friendly. Only two of the four bathrooms were in service on my floor. One of the working bathrooms had water pooled in the middle of the floor. They were not the cleanest facilities. The room was clean and the bunks had enough privacy in my all female dorm. The top bunk had a fan to keep you cool at night. I felt pretty safe there and enjoyed the proximity to the Pike Place Market and plenty to do within a walkable distance. This being my first hostel experience, I have nothing to compare it to. I would definitely stay here again!
- 3/5
Location is unbeatable, you are at walking distance from most attractions. They give you fresh clean towels everyday for $1. The bathrooms are mostly clean, but since it was always too busy, it's imposible to have extra clean bathrooms all the time. The bedrooms are small for 8 persons, so it was difficult to get stuff from my carry-on everytime. Was even worse when 2 or 3 people were doing it at the same time. All that I can live with, but the mattres was way too fluffy, I could feel the wooden boards across my spine and lower back, which gave me back pain since day 2 in Seattle :(
- 4/5
Traffic jams at the restroom. Very nice and helpful staff Thanks. Mike.
- 5/5
First time staying in a hostel. I am glad I did. It was great meeting people and having conversations in the dining area and lounge. Great location across from Pike Place Market.
- 5/5
Crazy good location. Friendly staff. Enjoyed my stay!
- 4/5
The location was amazing with access to lots of shops, water, and entertainment. Although it's a dirty neighborhood with a lot of transients, it felt safe inside once the door closed behind me. The staff were helpful before and throughout my stay. I enjoyed meeting new people and the 'pub crawl.' The sleeping space is very tight, but I think it's fairly typical of hostels. I enjoyed my stay!
- 5/5
I did feel more needs to be done so that people dont hang out on fire escape. Much opening and closing of that door which made me feel a little insecure
- 5/5
It was so fun to be right across the street from Pike Place Market and a couple blocks from Seattle Art Museum. Staff was lovely and I felt very safe.
- 4/5
It was a very cool place, loved the decor.
- 5/5
The staff really make this hostel special, they are accommodating and kind. The area is very close to the Pike Place Market, which can be a little intimidating at night, but I felt safe in the hostel. Would stay again.
- 5/5
in the evening or morning or even in the rooms
- 4/5
The front desk was super nice and the hostel is in a great location, just some homeless people outside in the street.
- 4/5
I was only disappointed by the frequency and schedule for cleaning. I was impressed upon arrival. As the crowd started getting there, it became nasty quickly. Otherwise, reminds me of a Church style cleaning gig. Very tidy and clean but very old wooden styles.
- 3/5
The fan next to the bed is filthy. Also property is not ADA compatible
- 5/5
It is a good environment for hostel
- 5/5
Will recommend it to friends.
- 3/5
Great location. Close to everything important. Staff was friendly and helpful. Met my expectations for the most part. Overall not a bad place. Only thing I would recommend is keeping the showers cleaner.
- 4/5
Everything was excellent except for the sleeping. There was construction happening from 2-4am at the time of my stay and I was sleeping near the window.
- 5/5
Staff was amazing super helpful, social and all around a great time to be around
- 5/5
Just needed a one night stay nothing fancy, good price, close to docks
- 5/5
Such a great stay, really fun place. Clean, friendly, and so convenient.
- 5/5
A fantastic hostel with very friendly staff. Even though every bed is full right now, the staff has been responsive and cheerful. Good breakfast too!
- 4/5
Staff could’ve been more welcoming
- 5/5
I like the vibe there
- 4/5
The staff are very cooperative (Best), and Good value for money, my main concern is the condition of other guests sharing the room with you, which is a matter of luck.
- 1/5
I truly appreciate the people that worked there but the place was just scary to be in.
- 5/5
- 5/5
My very first time staying a night in a hostel and the staff was incredibly helpful and kind to me. When asking about general niceties and whatnot they were incredibly responsive and gave me a simple rundown of do's and don'ts. The hostel is in a very nice spot in the city surrounded by businesses and made it very easy to get back to late at night after a concert. The shower's have very nice pressure behind them and the toilets work well. As for bed's they were on the slightly harder side, however, I dont mind and almost prefer that surface instead. The Hostel offers nightly activities to get a community engaged, and althought it was a bar crawl and I could not participate it seems hypothetically very fun. As long with the other activities they have planned for the future. The common space is very open and I believe fosters conversation although I did not partake in any during my stay. The complimentary breakfast helps give an easy start to the day and is entirely appreciated as well with the supplied eggs which once again, I did not partake. I cannot recommend this hostel any more for nightly stay at a fantastic price in an incredibly expensive city.
- 5/5
Save a lot of money

Great place
