Best Western Shallotte / Ocean Isle Beach Hotel

Front desk was super nice. Rooms were clean but maybe needed a good floor scrubbing. Pool was FANTASTIC!! breakfast was so yummmy. Can't wait to come back!!

Amazing place to stay with my boys. The staff was incredible. I do not know her name but there was a lady who checked us in and helped us with fresh towels, pool towels and was so nice. Would stay here again.

Everything was great except for the awful tv. It was very outdated and Netflix nor YouTube would load. It kept saying “try again later.” The remote was not at all user friendly and it took me half an hour to even figure it out to use the basics. The room was nice and clean, the kids enjoyed the pool and the hot breakfast was good.

Check in was friendly and welcoming. Had a good sleep as the environs were quiet and bed was comfortable. I really appreciate rooms without carpeting for my allergies. The breakfast was finished at 9:30am sharp, so no dawdling allowed. Exercise room is nice but could use some temperature control as it was kinda hot in there. Ate at nice Italian restaurant close by, Luccas Chophouse. We sat outside, ordered homemade seafood ravioli with a scampi sauce and received great service.

Breakfast and location were fine, however the hotel was not crowded - yet we were placed in a room next to 3 other rooms, with apparently a family with children (4) and loud banging of doors and loud voices from the time we hot there and through the entire night. It was NOT good, but we settled in after coming back from dinner and it continued. Thank GOD I had earplugs. Also, the dish t.v. kept cutting out, so made it very hard to watch basically anything. The front staff was very nice. I told her and she said she would write it down and pass it on. Disappointed......... Found bugs in room. Decided not to stay. Spoke with manager, told us to contact hotels.com for a refund and they are refusing.

Broken tv in the room, receptionist attempted to fix but couldn’t, second member of staff arrived after about 2 hours of waiting, we didn’t admit him as it was nearing 10pm by then. Awful poor quality plastic cutlery at breakfast, they just kept bending, it became easier to eat with our fingers!

Nice location. Had a king with a sofa bed, tv was in front of the bed, not the sofa and couldn't swivel, so you couldn't watch it from the sofa, only from the bed. Didn't matter because the reception was so poor, kept breaking up, so you really couldn't watch it anyway

Bugs, mold on bed platform , door open for breakfast while ur eating and a extra large cricket comes in and is climbing on the window while ur trying to eat, then see another customer taking a napkin to bring the wasps from the inside window to outside, not pleasant

I stayed here for one night and got a fair rate during the off season in late October. I liked the convenient location near my destinations such as Sunset Beach, Calabash and the SC border. The free breakfast was great and had a nice variety. I didn't get a chance to swim in the outdoor pool but it seems like a great amenity in the summer.

Beautiful hotel

There were roaches in the bathroom and living space. I had to put my bag in the car over night and keep all lights on, didn’t want to roaches home.

This might have been the smallest possible room for two full beds -- the door barely missed the bed nearest when it was opened. The pool was amazing on a hot day, and the beach was right there. Tall people need to watch their heads in some areas.

Rhe hotel staff was awesome! The bed was great but taking a shower was disappointing. The water temp was cold to lukewarm. I love a hot shower to get me going in the morning. The breakfast was mediocare. I usually stay at the Best Western in Leland, N.C. and what a breakfast spread that they have. I shouldve went to the Waffle House next door.

Hotel is right off the freeway and close to the town of Shallotte. I would recommend that the hallway carpets on the second floor be replaced or stretched properly. It was very buckled causing a trip hazard for guests and your cleaning staff who had to roll heavy carts.

The room was nice, but the shower was absolutely tiny. I mean, when I say tiny I mean like a shower in a 80s camper. Also, the pillows were awful. But other than that it was a great stay!

The gotel is outdated. They said they offer roll away beds but they do not. The beds are very small and nit a true queen. Towels were yellow, the ice machine was broken and breakfast sucked.

WiFi slow, they can’t connect tv to WiFi, less breakfast options, room cleaning service not that great. They won’t clean the room properly. Matters need to be changed they were so uncomfortable to sleep on.

The carpet in the hall looked terrible though and there wasn't a whole lot of options for their free breakfast, nor did it look appealing. Their drink cooler was bare bones as well as their snack corner. Decent hotel overall but way overpriced for what they currently have.

My wife and I choose Best Western to celebrate our 25 year anniversary. We checked in Saturday night and as we exited the elevator on the second floor we knew it would be a bad night. The entire second level stunk from someone smoking weed. We called the front desk but nothing they could do. It got so bad it was coming in our room. We had a group in the room beside us that had they blasting and partied all night. The next night was better but the third night the weed smell was back. One morning the we went down to eat breakfast only to find a sign saying sorry no hot breakfast. The floor in the room was so dirty if you had white socks on they would turn brown just from walking on the floor. This morning we was going to eat breakfast and found that they only had one biscuit that was wrapped in plastic so we just said forget and left. What a disaster for our anniversary.

The staff was extremely helpful. The room was very clean and spacious. The jetted tub really great! The one negative was the thin walls. All night we could hear people walking around above us and talking all around us, snoring, dropping things.... And the noise from the hallway was pretty loud.

The check in and check out was easy and the staff was very nice.

Great price for a super clean hotel

This was a nice place to stay that was conveniently located and clean well maintained rooms. The breakfast was good and more choices than you would think. I would definitely recommend this inn for your Holden Beach trip.

This is by far the worst hotel we ever stayed in! Surprise -- actually, we were shocked--when at check-in we were told that those with a local mailing address (we were moving into a new house so needed lodging for two nights prior to move in) must pay a deposit of $100.00 in cash!! We are senior citizens. It was late in the day and my husband is handicapped so I reluctantly paid. There is no such policy posted anywhere. We have NEVER heard of such a policy! That requirement was so unnerving that it made us suspect that there were untoward situations occurring there which caused us to question their caliber of guests and public safety. We could barely tolerate one night. The bed was very uncomfortable. The floor was dirty. We did not feel safe in the hotel or outside. Hall noise was loud into the night. The next morning at 5:30 am, I contacted the desk staff person and I asked to cancel our next night's stay and get a refund for the next night booked because of our concerns. He assured that us we could, then actually inspected our room (really!), and then refunded our $100 in cash. At check out I confirmed the credit card refund with reservation cancelled. In fact, he stated that an upcoming storm resulted in many cancellations. We stayed at a nice local hotel the next night. Fast forward to my credit card statement not reflecting any refund whatsoever! The manager/owner refuses to respond despite the assurance made. A terrible hotel and if you cancel, don't expect refund!!!

The people across the hall were in and out of room all night both Friday and Saturday. Friday/ early Saturday morning, they got in a fight and rhe pilice showed up (3 officers). Very disappointed

Check-in was great. She allowed me to stay an extra hour the following morning to make preparations for a personal need I had.

Service was very good, but the shower was tiny and the bed was only moderately comfortable.

During my stay, I was first welcomed with a warm greeting at the check-in desk. Upon receiving my keys (to the second floor), I entered my room and immediately noticed a small bug (roach) on the bathroom counter. After further inspection, there was hair from the previous guest in the shower along with another dead bug and the running water was brown. I was informed by front desk staff that prior work was being done to fix the water. And was relocated. I’ve stayed at this property before but not with this experience.

The rooms are fine but I do have to say the free breakfast offered is somewhat to be desired or edible, and I do understand it is free but it truly seems as it is leftovers from days before. The biscuits were very hard, the eggs cooked to a crisp and the sausage swimming in whatever that would have been. The yogurt machine was good and they do have the waffle maker.

Good hotel stay that was very last minute. Nothing super fancy, but it was comfortable, clean, friendly staff and close to where I needed to travel to. Only complaint was the hot water. The sink water was hotter than the shower water. Shower water was lukewarm. Not the best when traveling late and wanting a nice hot shower.

The reason I stayed here was because it is the closest accommodation to the drive-in at Planet Fun. It's easy walking distance, almost within sight. I think it's somewhat over priced.

Well it is a nice hotel. But yall the bed frame sticks out so our shins took a beating just walking by the bed or going to get off the bed i smacked the side of my foot on the frame and the pillows fall in-between the mattress and the wall while sitting or sleeping. Also while in the bathroom heard a loud bang from the room next door and a guy yell from smacking his leg on the bed in his room. I knew it was the bed because he said damn bed afterwards super loud. It does hurt.

Fairly new facility. Easy check in. The rooms can be a bit noisier than other chains I have stayed in. The door is not sealed against hallway noise. I could hear people moving in the room above. But otherwise it was quiet & restful. Breakfast included warm eggs & sausage, a pleasant surprise. Breakfast here better than other chains. I would stay here again!

Property was clean, facilities were up to date, safe quiet area. Loved the plank floors in the room, for cleanliness. Bed pillows were to small, and shower water was just warm, but not enough, carpet in hallway needs stretching-falls risk.

Also, we had a few insects visit us but we took care of that ourselves. Husband has a black light and after using it, we went to buy our own pillows and pillowcases to sleep on. Blood spot on curtain that they said was rust. The housekeeping staff were nice and gave us what we needed. It was a convenient location to area beaches and restaurants but they need some work on customer service skills. The place also needs some attention to specific areas.

Inside, hallway carpets have bulges everywhere, carpet installation required to stretch the bulges. Maintenance is lacking. Food felt like Groundhog Day… same thing every morning. There wasn’t even peanut butter! What??? Service was impeccable though. Area very safe and quiet. BW is a great hotel. Don’t shame it. Please maintain the inside as much as the outside.
