The staff, the location, all were great. But why the Marriott Courtyard in Solana Beach, a Resort area, could not offer their guests a cup of hot coffee or tea in the morning was beyond me. The coffee pots in the room were next to awful. Most hotels, even the Holiday Inn Express have coffee in the lobby.

I was also given the wrong room. I reserved and paid for a one king bed but was instead placed in a room with two queen beds. Check-in itself took approximately 15 minutes, and the overall level of service has been extremely poor. At one point, I observed staff asleep in the back, which is completely unprofessional. The conditions have made it impossible for my family to rest. I can clearly hear the people next door having sex, to the point where my bed was physically shaking from the disturbance. I had no choice but to turn the TV volume all the way up just so my children would not hear what was going on. This is beyond inappropriate and completely unacceptable for any guest, especially a family with a newborn and a 5-year-old. Additionally, the shower water pressure is extremely poor, making basic use difficult. This stay has been unsafe, unsanitary, and nowhere near what was promised. I expect a FULL reimbursement for this stay immediately. If this matter is not resolved promptly, I will be escalating this issue through

Wonderful staff and very close to Solana Beach town. The garage and the area around the pool smelled like sewer most of the time we were there. The hot tub was dirty, but the pool was clean. There is a wonderful lady at the breakfast place who makes great mochas!

Do not stay here!!! The worst hotel experience in years. Thinnest walls ever and neighbors ridiculous noisy all night. Didn’t sleep at all. Was full so couldn’t move us. Night staff said multiple people complained about the noise. No manager on duty to offer refund. Have filed formal complaint for a full refund. Will not be paying for awful service. I wouldn’t list on hotels.com.

The staff was friendly and helpful, the location is great, the rooms are roomie, beds were comfy and the courtyard is quite nice; but, the building is getting old and showing wear, and the old towels need to be replaced.

I was so happy with my stay! The room was spotless, quiet and so comfortable. However the staff were the main reason for the five stars: so friendly and polite. I will definitely stay again!

Superficially looks nice, but really old and worn. Hot tub did not work one night. Ants infested one of our rooms. Ice machine was broken. Bathroom was in poor condition. Beds very uncomfortable. The location is good, but next time would try another hotel in the area.

Room was very nice. Bed was comfortable. Nice water pressure in the shower. Only complaint was the toilet. It was small and very close to the wall with the paper holder against my knee, meant I had to sit at an awkward angle.

My credit card was hacked and the person used it to say at this hotel. I tried contacting the hotel but could not get a live person to talk to. I was hoping that the hacker would be caught in the act but unfortunately the hotel was not responsive. I'm sure whoever stayed there could not provide the front desk with the credit card used and a correct driver's license. Seems like since you are asking for my review, the thief was able to stay there.

The staff were attentive and polite and the room was clean. It was nice staying near the pool and hot tub and fireplace. We enjoyed all of those features. The pool could use some maintenance it’s just showing its age. Our only complaint really was the mattress. It needed to be replaced. It was very creaky and very very lumpy. To be fair we didn’t complain to the staff because we liked the location of our room near the hot tub. They may have done something about it had they been told. It’s time for new mattresses.

This property was convenient to everything we needed. It is a bit dated but the plus is the two king sized beds instead of two queens or doubles. The pool area and lounge outside lounge area were nice. The bistro had good food.

Our check in experience was terrible. We were accused of not paying for our room through Expedia and presenting a credit card that declined which was untrue. The front desk clerk was argumentative and accusatory. Insisted that we present a credit card to recharge nightly room rate. Not trained well and made us feel awful. Too bad the front desk clerk Melissa was not working when we checked in. Ants in our first room all over the bathroom and wet bar area. Moved to a different room that still had an ant problem, but not as bad.

We liked the location. The staff were very friendly. Our room had a very large bathroom with a nice shower. The lighting wasn't the best, but otherwise fine. The café wasn't worth the visit.

The hotel is convenient in its location, it is also clean and comfortable. However the air conditioning is outdated.

I reserved and was charged $357 for room reserved a month in advance. When I went to front desk to check in, I was told they didn’t have any more rooms available. I arrived at 6pm. They sold my room to someone else. They claimed they had “just told Expedia, but I never got any notice”. My credit card had been charged a couple days prior to arrival.

Great stay and the staff was very willing to accommodate my check in/ out timing needs without hassle.

Appreciated the on-site laundry even if it was $2 (all in quarters) for each washer and each dryer cycle. Detergent sold at front desk, on the other side of the hotel from the laundry but thankfully the laundry itself was near my room.

The room was large, clean, and the hotel convenient for our activities. Paid parking was convenient, and the hotel is within walking distance to Solana Beach. On the negative side: the bed was uncomfortable, little drawer space for storing clothing, the handicapped bathroom only had grab bars but still required guest to step over a standard tub to ente.Floor was uncarpeted, insufficient room lighting, and it took two days and a reminder to get an additional blanket after requested at the front desk.

Squeeky mattress, 15 inches off the floor in room 166, foot tub in bathroom needs to go, put showers only in rooms!! Starbucks coffee closed at 9 am. Changed rooms do to patio facing a large wall, weird. We did mention to front desk about mattress, and tub.

WiFi did not work in the room. Instead of resolving the problem with their router, the staff put me on the phone with the Marriott technical service department, which left me on hold for 10 minutes, and then said that they needed to contact the building engineer. In any event, the problem was never resolved during my three day stay. The bed was unstable and tipped up when two people sat on the foot of the bed. Overall, this is a very average hotel.

I paid for Parking when I booked and they would not honor my parking and charge me $29 for it. The people that checked me in were rude and took like over 40 minutes because they couldn’t get the computer to work and they were the rudest people who have ever checked me into a hotel not so much the person checking me in but the person that appeared to be the manager

Hotel is ok - Its old and the price was completely outrageous because of the horse track opening. I think the rate went up at least 4X of what its normally at. Price gouging is what makes this place not deserve a better review. Just my $.02 worth

You shou train the staff in the receiption. If you trained them, then 6ou should train them more professionally. Even though you have a golden area to be better service and bring more clients, there are no improvements

We got a room, the bed is very soft. During the night, my husband cannot sleep because the room upstairs is very noisy. House keeping did not clean our room. We only got clean towels after telling front desk our room has not been cleaned.

The property is close to all I need for this visit.

This property had the room type we needed (2 kings in one room) but this is a very dated property. The bathrooms were barely usable- shower/tub wouldn't drain, cracked tiles, primer paint in patches- a ton of deferred maintenance for sure. The location was good for our purposes and the front desk staff was very accommodating at check in but the property itself was a miss.

I was there with my family for a weekend. Cleanliness was very good. People were nice. But the hotel rooms( beds, mattresses) were terrible. Asked to change a room because of uncomfortable mattresses but still the mattresses were the same. Felt like I sleeping on a sinking boat. The breakfast bar didn’t offer many options and the croissants weren’t fresh.

The property was clean but the beds were so awful, it was hard to sleep. I usually never write a bad review, but this hotel is in serious need of update on comfort. It was also very loud all night long. Banging and dog barking from adjacent rooms didn’t help. Every movement in the bed lead to very loud squeaks. The phone didn’t connect to the front desk. Just not great, even for just one night.

Easy to find and get in and out of. Staff was friendly but room was average at best.

We liked it because we were near our Family. There were some negative things: the internet was totally out for two days; they ran out of coffee for our room. These were both very needed amenities. The parking was okay, but the price had gone up to $23/day. There was parking along the side wall. Should have searched for it before we paid. The staff was excellent! The Bistro had good food. Solana Beach was very nice.

The door on the clothes closet is broken in the room. The mattress has a broken part inside that makes a noise whenever you move. When we checked we were told house keeping would clean our room every other day but they never ce

We went to the lobby to get a drink and the man at the front desk was not friendly. A large piece of the stem of a palm broke off in the courtyard and fell right on my head while I was walking to get to the pool. Luckily it didn’t hurt too much but definitely scared the heck out me! The Starbucks counter employees were phenomenal. They did great under pressure of lots of orders and lines. Breakfast should have more than one employee doing everything. It took so much longer than it needed. If there was just one more employee, it would have been very efficient. Overall a decent stay but could have been better with a little tree maintenance, a clean floor, and more efficient and friendly staffing

Great location across the street from the beach. Rooms need updating especially wall insulation. You can hear neighbors upstairs and next door. Also kids were in the pool until 11pm. Not a quiet room. Beds sink.

ROCHELLE at the front desk was fantastic. It’s rare to find kind, courteous & great customer service nowadays. I suggest staying on 2nd floor bc it’s very loud with people above… especially kids running around and TVS. Bed is comfortable and overall clean- although my daughter found hair in the bed.

We were there for the night as we hiked the Torrey Pines trails that day and on our way to San Diego. Great location and walkable to a secluded beach which we walked the next morning. Hotel was great overall. Internet, pool, dining option, easy check in and parking garage. Added bonus to the Thai restaurant and convenient store in shopping complex next to hotel. Definitely would stay here again.

This was not what we were expecting for the price, I would stay elsewhere more walkable. We were not given the room type we purchased and they said they had no more available even though the Marriot website still showed availability.

The hotel is located across the street from the beach and right on PCH. We did not have a car and didn't need one for our 4 day trip.

The cafe prices were high. Air conditioning was loud. The staff was, without exception, excellent.

We had a small issue with the bedding at the beginning of our three nights day... After the betting was promptly changed, we had a lovely stay. Although they have a bistro, the hours are extremely limited and it would have been nice to be able to have lunch by the pool. The only thing in the room that would have been helpful is to have a small table by the couch... But overall the room was comfortable and we enjoyed our stay.

So when we arrived there was about 3 squares of toilet paper no spare there was only 2 towels Monday morning the shampoo and body wash ran out also when cleaning didnt clean our room on Sunday also Monday morning employees were dragging pool furniture around very very noisy for 630am

Comfortable clean hotel with a nice pool but the traffic is a bit noisy. Good choices for breakfast and coffee! Only downside for us is that we requested rooms that were near to each other and didn’t receive them.

The location is outstanding. The property itself needs some small repairs -- e.g., my door did not close properly and I could hear my neighbor's conversation. The location is fantastic -- you can be on the beach in less than 5 minutes. There are excellent restaurants within walking distance. Did I mention the location?

The light fixture under the TV needs to be repaired. Also, the smaller desk light did not work at all. The bistro was good for breakfast. The instant oatmeal should be made with more hot water. If the cook were paid more, perhaps you would have a cook on staff every day. We liked that the Bistro staff has health insurance. Street level parking would be an improvement.

It was a very nice stay staff and facility was beyond remarkable. I will be staying there again in the near future. My son liked the snack bar they had in the lobby. Comfortable and cozy. Thank you for the good exparience.

Needed a getaway and this hit the spot

Room was supposed to have a sitting area for 2, but did not. When I asked to change they said it was Orbitz faulty description yet their website had rooms with sitting areas. Staff was not accommodating. Shower was not clean, 2 lamps didn’t work, old worn out furnishings. Depressing room.

Nice room, bed was comfortable but the bathroom was extremely small. As a side note, no bar on premises was disappointing.

I found the property to be cold and uninviting. The bathrooms were not clean and I was provided an outdoor room that was freezing. Staff were ok but did not go out of their way to accommodate their guests. I did not like the location either.

Nice proximity to fairgrounds as we were there for an event. Easy to walk to beach (stairs present). Door wouldn’t close unless it was shoved into place (I get that buildings settle/earthquake happen, but I felt badly for my neighbor every time I had to do it as it was LOUD). “Breakfast” was extremely light as they are getting the bistro ready for spring season. Housekeeping entered my room and a friends room before 8:30 to clean-that is too early to be entering occupied rooms.

The pictures are deceiving, the hotel is basically a motel 6 that has not been upgraded to a courtyard marriott. This is probably the worst court yard marriott i have ever stayed at. The holiday inn express would probably be better than this place.

The first room smelled bad of smoke but they moved me. The hotel is old so I don’t think I would stay here again. It was clean but just beat up.

We expected a little more from a Marriott Courtyard facility. The same breakfast was served the whole 7 days we stayed there - same bagels everyday. Small efforts such as having a water dispenser in the lobby would be nice. The walls werr thin and doors were heavy so every time someone's door closes, you hear a slam. There was one manager at night that was very helpful to switch our room so that we didn't have to move due to 3 separate reservations. He was courteous, friendly & helpful.
