Clean quiet and cozy, I would stay again

It's a great space for kids. The pool is right at your door. Big enough for 3. Went to beach to see the sunset, it was a 2 min drive. You can even walk. Will come back for sure.

We only stayed one night but the rooms were clean and comfortable. Check in was easy with a simple email and a door code. This is right near the gulf intercostal. It is a quiet little property and we would stay here again. Thank you!

Property was cute and room was clean. Only issue I had was that the a/c was cool but not cold like how I like it. Staff was very nice. Location and price was great. Would stay again.

As things do happen it is how they are handled and in that regard, they are a 10/10. I can't wait until October definitely be back then!

Had everything we needed. Very clean for an older motel. Pool was awesome.

What a charming motel! The courtyard pool is surrounded by comfy couches. The room comes with a kitchenette so stop by Publix on the way to stock the mini fridge. Don’t forget cream cheese because there is a toaster! We had the room next to the office so we did not hear road sounds but bring a white noise machine, ear buds or a partner with a sleep apnea machine! No ice machine and the mini fridge was no help at making ice so be aware. No movie channels, but don’t we have them on our phones? Again, earbuds are the BEST! I can’t wait to bring friends to this motel! Thank you Sun Island. Btw the bin to put pool towels in is missing.

The pictures you see online is very outdated! When i checked in my room was disgusting if i can find a way to post pics i will. Never ine to complaon but this wasnt ok!

Very simple check in and out. Fast assistance on the phone. Just what anyone needs!

This is my second stay here. And we loved it before . But this time there was something wrong with the TV. The settings were all messed up and it was almost pitch black , we corrected this. There were two quarter sized pixelated black marks on the tv. Then when we were trying to go to sleep the tv would turn back on at the highest volume every 5 minutes. It was really disturbing and made it hard to sleep

The location was convenient, check in was easy, the room was clean and comfortable. It was 4th of July weekend but it was quiet and peaceful.

Had a great stay! Small place but liked the privacy feel. Also close to all the beaches. Will go back.

Room was clean and service was helpful - they replaced our body wash and brought extra pillows I requested due to pregnancy. Unfortunately, the air conditioning was barely working and resulted in VERY hot sleeping conditions.

After driving for 17 hours, we arrived at the property. Rented the room with one king bed and futon since we had three (3) people. Walked into room at 9pm to a broken futon leaving one person with no place to sleep. Since there is no one on site, I called both numbers and emailed twice. NEVER RECEIVED A CALL OR EMAIL. We had to get creative and use an ironing board to hold up the futon and pick the lightest person to sleep on broken futon. IF YOU ARE NOT GOING TO HAVE PEOPLE ON SITE, YOU NEED PEOPLE THAT WILL RESPOND TO THOSE PAYING FOR A ROOM. Although room was clean, I will not be staying there again and risk something going wrong and having no one that communicates.

It is an old style Florida hotel that has not been updated. The windows are glass slats with busted mesh screens and provide no insulation. This doesn't seem like a big problem at first (besides the bugs) until you hear someone talking outside and realize there is no insulation. Their voices echo straight into your room - along with the smoke from cigarettes and other things... There is no staff on property, so the partying outside went on until all hours of the night. We tried calling every number listed on the door of the office but no one answered or called us back from our voicemails - they still haven't. Spend the extra money and get yourself a better place for a stay in the area.

Very nice property

The check-in process was nerve racking. We were going to a Rays game and didn’t want miss check-in time. When trying to communicate that to the staff no one ever got back with me when I wasn’t sent the check-in info by 10am that day. After receiving the generic check-in info in the afternoon we were able to get in smoothly. The unit was spacious, but oddly remodeled. The kitchen and bathroom were new as well as floors, but the furniture and bedding needs to be updated. The middle bedroom had no air and beds had dirt or such on them so we did not use. The pull out couch also had dirt or such in it. It did not feel very clean. The kitchen had a constant smell of cigarette smoke. They upgraded some aspects, but not all. It was fine for one night, but would not stay again.

Was worried about going here based on other reviews but we actually had a fairly good time. No management on property so make sure you respond to the email and submit your ID to get your room code. Room has jalousie windows and we had some guests have a full blown convo at 1:30am outside our room that we had to deal with ourselves. Plenty of room for bigger families but if someone is using the restroom then you are either cut off from the rest of the suite or you can’t exit the room. Overall fairly clean but there were some stains that we noticed. Beds aren’t very comfy. Pool was amazing. Concrete around the property is slick when wet and several uneven surfaces. Safe location. Plenty of parking. Building is all ground floor so no stairs to climb. Not a lot of other guests to deal with.

Everything was so lovely and well taken care of! It was extremely clean inside and out, including the pool. The staff was so nice and helpful and the bed was extra yummy, can’t say enough about this little Motel, IMPRESSED!

Great location, within 5 minutes of St. Pete Beach! The automated check in process was also very convenient, and the room was clean.

Pool was heated and beautiful! Room was HUGE basically an entire apartment for less than the price of a hotel room. Will be back!

The saying “you get what you pay for” does not apply to the Sun Island Motel. In this case - you get WAY MORE than what you pay for! It’s clean, beautifully decorated, has absolutely everything you could ever want and need (toaster, coffee maker, pots/pans, microwave and more). The shower was amazing - bed slept wonderfully and it was very spacious. I was so happy with my stay and beyond impressed overall - especially for the super low rate I paid! Communication with the property was great also. I highly recommend this wonderful little property! I’ll be back for a leisure stay the next time, so I can enjoy the pool!

Second time staying here and it’s definitely a spot I will repeat. Great customer service and price. Remember folks you’re not staying at the Taj Mahal and definitely not paying Taj Mahal prices. It’s very quiet, convenient to multiple beaches, John’s pass, etc. If your looking for a place to just lay your head at night while your on vacation this is it! Not gonna lie it could use a few upgrades but not really complaining because everything is was awesome!!

Whethered motel away from everything, coffee, food, beach. Pool is underwhelmingly small….coffee in room smelled horrible and couldn’t drink, along with creamer hard as a rock. No front desk attendant but someone answered timely by email. I’d say not worth it to not be near any restaurant or coffee shop etc. Pay the extra for elsewhere.

The room was a bit small but very clean. There is no daily housekeeping but if you ask for towels or such you will get them. The pool area is pretty. There is plenty of parking and I felt safe. But the WiFi is spotty. There is a bay at the end of the block and a church across the street. Lots to do, see and eat in the area. Note: management is difficult to get in touch with so make contact before your stay to ensure you get your check-in info on time. I would stay here again, very reasonable price and clean.

Tv remote not working, no hot water for 10-15 min other than that great

Even though there isn't anyone at the property when you called they responded quickly. Everyone was wonderful that we talked and emailed to.

It was exactly what we needed for a quick one night stay. No frills, but a clean, comfortable, affordable place to stay for the evening that was also close to other hotels, restaurants, and the beach.

There was no one there when we arrived to check, had to call someone to check in. We stayed two nights, no new towels, no clean sheets or housekeeping - no one literally on site. I attempted to reach out 3 times to report a bath sink stopped up/unusable - no phone calls returned. Very poor business set up.

Loved the apartment feel of our room. 3 beds and a full kitchen at a great price.

Quiet property just north of the Corey district.

I have to call them for my room number and code. No information received. I got my room like 8pm because no one answering. And early 10 am someone knocking the door loud. To get us out not good hotel. Very dirty. Not worth i pay for.

Only stayed one night but booked three. No office there and no one answers the phone or calls you back. They were supposed to send you checkin code but nobody did so as I arrived I had to call them and get it! Room was ok but bed linens were not good and smelled. Had a family emergency and had to leave early. I left at 8am and called the number 5 times and left messages. No response at all! Of course they didn’t refund me my money for the two days I didn’t stay there!! Still haven’t heard from those crooks!Don’t waste your money!!!

Room was very clean and smells amazing! Lots of dishes to make a light meal coffee pot and small fridge. Instructions for check in and out was easy to follow. Beds were comfortable. Had no hot water, contacted owner via email and manager on duty. Was told to run all facets (tub, and both sinks) and it would get hot. We let the water in all facets run for 20 min, and finally got like warm water. We gave up after letting it run for 20 min and did not get to shower.

Left a message for site manager to call me and they never did. Otherwise room was just fine except for the heavy smell of cleaning fluid.

It should be clear at booking that this is more like a vending machine than a motel — no staff on site. Eventually they email a door code. The room is comfy. The overall property needs a refresh around the exterior

This is the worst motel experience we have had in 60 years of traveling the nation. We arrived at 5:00PM. No one works there. There is a sign that tells you to check in online. We went ahead and did that. We got no response back. There were two phone numbers to call. We called both numbers and got answering machines. We needed to use a bathroom so we left to look for a bathroom. We then called hotels.com and they were able to reach the motel and get us a code to use. It took us an hour to get the code. We had a dinner cruise reservation and were running late because of the delay. We are seniors with a disabled daughter and this caused a lot of stress. If hotels.com had not reached the motel we have no idea what might have happened. I was able to reach the manager by phone the next day and she was rude. The room was clean, but the ac does not cool the room enough. If you stay here you will be taking a big chance about getting checked in to your room and no one works at the property.

Some nice touches to the decor. However temporary clothes storage must be improved (hangers etc). Did not feel like using the fabric chest of drawers.

Didn't like the trash next to the building and parking lot. It smells bad.

A little of odd smell inside but is obviously is an cheap motel but everything inside was clean upon arrival. Good for entire day you at the beach.

I reserved 4 nights. Stayed 1st night cause i got in at 11pm layed in bed sweating all night. Next day spent trying to reach hotel staff, never got a call back. Then called expedia, and was offered $34 credit. Packed my stuff, called my cc company, refused payment, and will never deal with this hotel or expedia again.

While there is nothing outstanding about the property, it is safe and convenient for those loking for an economic stay in the St. Pete Beach area.

Location is great and local to what we where looking for. Communication from the hotel through Expedia/calling is non existent. Its what you expect for the price you pay though. We didnt like the fact there was no front desk staff to help us if we had any problems or questions about our room. I would stay here again but theres some upgrades that need to be done for sure. Glad to say we had a better experience with this Motel then most reviews.

Probably cleanest and nicest motel I’ve ever stayed in. It was really enjoyable except it was really hot. The AC units didn’t do the absolute best, but for the price it was well worth the stay.

Door code provided in email confirmation did not work. We tried multiple times. Guest next door can attest to this. Supposed "on site management" was not on site and unresponsive to multiple calls/voicemail messages, so we left to secure other accommodations. When someone did call back they claimed they never got a notification on their phone (after 15+ calls). Vanessa was incredibly rude, cursed at us and hung up. Additionally, we had attempted to confirm our reservation earlier in the morning, had to leave a voicemail and never received a call back.

I really really liked the setting, the inside of the motel, much much better than I thought, BUT & these are BIG BUTTs (lol) WHY IS SOMEONE NOT ON THE PREMISE TO CHECK ME IN, TO HELP OUT / ANSWER ? I CALL & WENT TO VOICEMAIL, I EMAILED FOR A QUESTION, NO RESPONSE...ALSO THE POOL! ...IF U ARE HERE FOR THE POOL, DO NOT BOOK ...IT IS FILTHY...sad because it's such a dope place, convent & like I said I really liked the inside of the motel, really beachy...BUT PLEASE CLEAN UP AND BE ON SIGHT. THANKS.

Beds were fair, water pressure sucked. I did like the easy check in.

SIZE OF THE ROOM WAS MORE THEN EXPECTED

I was pleasantly surprised with the room it was just what I needed for a quick nights stay when coming in on a late flight.

My room was comfortable and clean. I had to call the management to find out how to turn off my TV and control the volume and then ended up unplugging the TV in the middle of the night because it wouldn't stop turning on by itself. There was a light outside my door that has a window on the top that shines right in my face when I'm in bed. I was disappointed that there was no place to get ice.

Nice room. Everything was clean and quiet! In and out with no issues.

It is 11:25 and there is no one here to let us into the room we reserved

A nice place to stay.

Great price. Clean. Close to everything. Would stay here again. PET FRIENDLY….. although we only slept. This was very important to us as we have a small 4 lb pup.
