Best Western Van Buren Inn

This is a return visit, I will book another stay at this Best Western because of the location and the great service and hospitality

I was skeptical for this motel when I pulled up but it as a pleasant surprise. I was concerned about road noise from nearby I40 but there was none at all. Room was nicely updated. Bed was comfortable. It did take a bit for the AC to get the room cooled down and we were missing some necessities that the front desk quickly corrected. Oh and the fridge runs a little cold— woke up to the mess of a frozen pop 😂 make sure you put those on the bottom shelf!

Great property

This is an older property-- but they have done a very good job of updating it. The bathroom fixtures were top notch and clean.

The room was bigger than expected. Everything was clean. Parking was easy. The bed was comfortable.

Our Garmin map gave us inaccurate directions but we found the hotel to be close to the freeway. Initial appearance at night was dark but we never felt unsafe. Staff was nice, are room opened directly to the parking lot and a large grassy area which are pup loved. Beds were comfortable and the water pressure in the shower was excellent. The outdoor pool was closed (April 6). The breakfast was basic, but we left early.

Linda at the front desk was very kind and helpful. She even called my room after I checked in to see if everything was good. The breakfast was fresh and hot. The room was carpeted which is nice for my dog as she doesn't like to walk on slippery floors. I would stay there again.

Stayed with dogs and had a nice first floor room with a grassy area right outside. Staff was friendly and room was just perfect for what we needed. Nicer than some we stayed the last couple of days. Breakfast was good as it always is at BWs. Restful stay.

The room was clean in in good repair. The breakfast was excellent with plenty of options and good quality. Nice exercise room and swimming pool. I really appreciated the heater in the bathroom. I was also very pleased to see a Bible in the room. The tub did not have a stopper; my wife used a plastic baggie. I think the motel was fairly old, but refurbished and rebranded as Best Western. It had external access. Since our room was on the first floor that was not an issue. However, people on the second floor would need to haul luggage up and down stairs; I didn't see an elevator.

Breakfast was what you typically find at motels. It was hot and it took a long time for the room to cool down. It was clean - but a little shabby. But good value for the price.

Linda at the front desk was super kind and welcoming. We felt we and our cars were safe.

This is not a “Wonderful” hotel. It’s just adequate. Next time I’ll pay 15% more and get wonderful.

Very convenient to restaurants and shopping and highway. The towels were thin and on the smaller size. And the room was cool, despite trying to turn up the heat.

From the moment we walked in the door, Linda greeted us with a smile and confirmed our reservation. Clearly explained the hotels policies and gave solid advice on dining options. All was exceptional.

Breakfast was amazing. Bed was not overly comfortable and the entire place had an odd odor, small.

I thought it was odd they didn't have an elevator to the second floor. I was capable of bringing my suitcase up the stairs to my hotel. But I thought that someone like my mother would struggle with that.

As far as the room, thank you for having pet friendly rooms available for people like us traveling with our pets. Unfortunately , Our room smelled like pet urine. We have been on the road for 2 plus weeks. Most of the pet friendly rooms in other hotels have had LVT flooring which is much easier to clean and the rooms didn’t smell. Replacing the carpet with LVT flooring would really help.

Pet areas were grassy, clean, and large. The entire property was so clean and fresh as well as comfortable.

Easy place to get in and out of. Semi truck shop next to the room I was in and there were big trucks coming and going late that night and really early the next morning. Really noisy. The room next to us had a dead fire alarm battery that went off all night and we couldn’t get any sleep. Floors were really dirty.

The breakfast was good and adequate-nothing fancy just basic food. I'm always ending up on the 2nd floor at the farthest distance from the lobby. All the places I stay at put me in this location. The stairs are a pain to climb sometimes at 70 years of age.

The room was very nice. The lobby was clean and smelled good. The bathroom door was broke, but not a big deal. Overall a very good stay I would recommend this place on a budget.

I highly recommend staying here. We are moving across country with our dogs and the staff was just amazing. Great service is hard to find but they are killing the hospitality!!

Breakfast bland. Location convenient but highly trafficked. I stayed two nights. No room service.

Room was subpar and had a musty/previously smoked in smell. The bedding and towels were clean but the overall cleanliness of the floors and behind the nightstand needed attention. It was midnight when we checked in so we did not address the issue of the odor. Would not stay here again.

My check-in went perfectly fine, staff was very friendly, very helpful very informative, however, after checking, I went straight to my room and laid down. After about an hour, I got up and took a shower, then return to the bed and fell asleep. Woke up at 5 AM hearing door, slamming, and people being loud.. at which time I noticed that I had numerous bug bites all over my body, and I began to itch severely. Very unfortunate situation., I will never be back.

After we got somewhat settled & utilized the small refrig, I noticed it wasn’t cooling correctly. I called & he said someone would come & look at it. An Indian man came, was very rude; said had too much food in it & left! This is the first problem. Then, under tornado warnings, sirens going off & pouring rain, thunder/lightening, several people came in & asked for a room for the night & this same man told them “power is out so can’t check u in so u can’t get a room & leave if u want” and spoken in a very nasty, demeaning way to these people!! Really….in the middle of Sirens & pouring rain, thunder & lightening and he treats potential customers this way?? We invited one group to come to our room & wait. Others sat in breakfast area & waited. This owner/manager, was extremely rude to stranded travelers showing no Compassion!! It certainly does not speak well of Best Western hotels!! I have NEVER seen this uncaring attitude in any hotel/motel and will NEVER visit this hotel Again & be sure to steer others away from there!! Best Western is much better than how this man treated his consumers!!!

The only real issue I had with the room was the poor lighting and extremely small bathroom counter space. Breakfast was ok but coffee was really bad (watered down). Other than that, was fine for a one night stay.

The hotel is located in a good area with stores and dining . The room was clean and personnel pleasant.

I was unable to make my trip due to car issues. The Hotel management was reluctant to cancel my stay which leaves me to believe they have no compassion and are only interested in profits. I did try to cancel two weeks in advance. I would not recommend this place.

Lost a refrigerator full of food due to a malfunctioning fridge in room…. Other than that, the stay was decent.

This is an older motel with entrance from the outside. The area isn’t lighted well. The rooms and breakfast area have been remodeled and are in good condition. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. It quiet during our stay.

This is an older facility in need of updates. It was mostly clean (as much as can be expected for the age of the building). The staff were great - friendly and helpful. The internet was painfully slow and erratic. Towels threadbare and small. It was, though, a quiet stay - not always a situation when pets are allowed.

Clean, conveniently located, no hot water. However, hot water tanks had been replaced during our stay.

My family and I stayed here over thanksgiving. Every front desk person we had an interaction with was amazingly nice and super helpful with anything we needed! Breakfast was simple and easy. It was quiet and calm which was really nice and made for an easy sleep each night! The bathrooms were clean and easy to use. Check in and check out we’re super simple and quick. We were able to park right in front of our hotel door which was amazing for getting stuff in and out of there! It’s also tucked back by lowes so it makes it easier to get out of the lot and drive to get food or to go anywhere you need rather than trying to get onto a busy road immediately. Overall it’s a nice hotel and would stay again.

Evening front desk was very welcoming. It was a nice, warm basic king room with an outside entrance. Breakfast was sparse, but enough to get us on the road again.

I was pretty shocked this was a Best Western. I'm not a fan at staying at this type of hotel, or motel in this case. If I didn't see the sign say it was a Best Western I would have assumed it was a regular roadside mom and pop trucker stop hotel. The only redeeming thing was the room was pretty decent and it was clean. The bathroom was ridiculous as you nearly have to step into the shower to close the door to use the bathroom/ or take a shower. I should have looked the property over more when I was booking, so it was my bad for not noticing what I paid for. So this one is on me... But I've learned my lesson, Best Western will be the last choice for me in the future.

Beds were great! Great sleep after a long drive. Very convenient. Check-in staff was wonderful and very helpful. Let us pick our room. That never happens!!!

The only part that was disappointing was breakfast. The eggs looked like they had been flattened out n tasted nasty, no waffles, bagels or muffins.

This is a dated property, but clean. As a matter of fact, when we arrived, they were cleaning the carpets. We stayed in a Pet room - no odours. Breakfast was standard fare. Close to a mall for food

The woman at the front desk was very nice. The room product is pretty nice. The mattress was awful. The room was fairly noisy. The free breakfast was about what you’d expect. It was fairly noisy with the rooms next-door. The location is quite convenient from the interstate.

Staff was outstanding! Motel itself was average in that it was typical of lower level establishments. Breakfast was good with good options available.

Reeked of mildew. Bathroom area and toilet looked like it hadn’t been clean anytime soon. Bedding was damp, room smelled of mildew all night. Never go back never recommend

charged me $20 extra for an additional guest. went to breakfast at 7:30 and there weren?t many options. didn?t seem like they were going to restock breakfast items even though breakfast doesn?t end until 9.

Our stay was very good. I want to say I wish every desk person was as friendly as Nancy and every breakfast person was as nice as this one. I didn't catch her name. We have now stayed in 3 this trip so far and these folks are the best the last one in Alabama the breakfast woman was grumpy and shut the door to play on her cell phone and morning desk clerk was asleep with her head on the desk when we came down.

The pool wasclosed without notice. The reservation was non refundable. The clerk asked me if it was going to be a problem. I replied yes. The outdoor pool was the reason we chose to stay here. I was also asked many questions that I am not used to being asked. Why were we here, do we have kids. A $100 fee was held on my card that may not be released for 5 days and she called to make sure the room was up to my standards. She knew we were disappointed about the pool.

Really more of a motel with outside steps to second floor. Rooms have been upgraded and are clean. AC struggled all night to cool the room. Staff was very nice and the price was quite reasonable.

The dinner and breakfast options saved me money. And the food was delicious. The staff were friendly and my room was clean. The only thing I would fix is the smell that came from the AC when turned on. Maybe the filters need to change or maybe some freshener might be more welcoming when you first enter the room. But, overall, I would stay here again.

Good fit for us for the $$

We stayed in a pet friendly room. It was a nice size room with a standard bathroom, good water pressure. The beds were very comfortable. The only negative with room itself was the carpet. It seemed a little sticky which I believe is due to how it is being cleaned which is leaving soap residue behind. The room smelled clean and all other surfaces were clean. Also was not thrilled with the complementary breakfast. The selection was a bit sparse and the coffee was a little bitter. But all in all the staff was helpful and friendly and the price reasonable and being pet friendly I would still recommend this hotel.

Overall the Best Western hotels are reasonably priced and always clean. The beds are comfortable and rooms have everything you need.

The appearance of the hotel was nice. It was clean didn’t smell like home food which I’ve been to plenty and smelling like food was not very welcoming. The customer service was very professional. Once we waked in our room it was clean so clean. We enjoyed our stay so much. Thank you Best Western we will be back!

Only problem was the TV was not working. It said “no service” so it probably was an internet or cable problem. Otherwise, nice stay.

worst stay ever….

There were more than half a dozen large cockroaches (some dead some dying) spread out throughout the room. It was to the point where I had to look where I was putting my foot down. I reported this to the front desk. The lady was courteous. However, I was still charged the full room charge without any compensation for staying in a cockroach infested room.

We had a great stay here. Great area for dogs to potty and safe to walk. Good food options close by. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The only thing I would recommend is softer and nicer shower towels otherwise everything was great.

The room was really dirty. It had a bug on the ceiling not sure if it was dead or alive. There was spots on the sheets in one of the beds. The ac/heat system was broken. Also, to top it off there was brown stuff smeared on the wall in the bathroom and stuff in the tub. I informed the guy at the desk because customer service from hotels.com suggested I do and i declined another room which apparently irritated him so he suggested I leave which I was in the process of during that conversation. Not very professional way to handle the situation. I took pictures as well.

The only off putting thing was that it is outside access to the room which is not what I thought I was booking. And there is no elevator to the second floor rooms. So be aware of these 2 things. The picture is deceptive.

The staff was great. The AC unit was very loud and the room was dated. Unfortunately everywhere around the facility smelled like cat pee. We saw him hiding under the stairs. The staff was great, the juice for breakfast was horrible.
