Reviews
Guests generally have a positive experience at this hotel, appreciating the large, clean rooms and convenient location. However, there are recurring issues with hot water availability and unexpected fees.

I love to stay here everytime I come to DC - they have undergone some big renovations since I came last year. This was the first time I could hear the music of the hotel outside of my window - which was not well received at 4am. Additionally there was a large whole when a storm came through directly outside of my hotel room so I could also hear that dripping. Overall not normally my experience but was shocked when I came again. The room itself is BIG and clean I love the cleaning staff always so friendly.

Fire alarms went off 3 times while I was there. Human feces on the street outside. Hot water wasn't working for the entire hotel for a whole day.

The only issue was that we were told there was room service from the restaurant in the hotel. However we were told to use the menu online for the restaurant, we couldn't reach the restaurant so they had to call us, the majority of items on the menu were not available. Then the food was brought to us in a brown paper bag as take out with no utensils! And we were charged an automatic 18% gratuity plus $15 delivery charge!

Great hotel, room was very spacious, clean, and well maintained. Staff were very friendly and attentive. The woman who checked me in was especially friendly, despite it being a very busy time. Aside from some confusion when checking out regarding waived resort fee benefit from Expedia, which was handled quickly, the stay was awesome. We are excited to stay here again for DC Gay Pride weekend.

Never again. We stayed at the Royal Sonesta two years ago and during our stay we were without hot water for a day. I could overlook this one time. I booked there again last minute and there there was no hot water that whole day. Never again.
- 5/5
Guests could not have lunch in the dini g room because a group had reserved many tables. But there were many open tables also that could have been used for the hotel guests.
- 5/5
I stayed at the hotel with our twin toddlers. We got a suite, which was super helpful so that we could have separate spaces, and the hotel provided two pack-n-plays and a microwave for us. Very accommodating!
- 3.5/5
the staff bent over backwards to fix inherent errors for a hotel under renovation. handicap features are pure. please put a button switch on the front door. the breakfast was great. poor handicap access. cleaners made noise outside my room door.
- 4.5/5
Close to location of the event I attended. Helpful staff. Remote for TV not working. Kenny plugged in the TV, provided a new remote and showed us how to use the phone in the room

Nice, large rooms. Very clean, friendly and super location
- 3/5
Some lights in room didnt work, and there was crushed candy on carpet when I first checked in. Mandatory resort fee, phone line unhelpful when calling to arrange check in. Nice bathroom, pool and gym looked nice but didnt get a chance to use during work trip.
- 5/5
The lobby bar and restaurant was stunning. Newly designed and very stylish with a very friendly accommodating staff.
- 5/5
This was great. Beds were awesome, pool was perfect, everything was wonderful.
- 4/5
Barking dogs kept my husband awake. Note that it is a dog friendly hotel
- 4/5
The gym is very small, the pool is underwhelming, and the bathrooms near the fitness center were not well maintained. The hotel offers a $15 daily food and beverage credit, but there is no true on-site restaurant. One dining option was set up in a ballroom and was closed during lunch, while breakfast was overpriced and not worth the cost. There are much better dining options within walking distance. The biggest issue was the lack of clear communication. We were initially told we could use the credit at the bar, but when we tried to charge purchases to our room, staff said it wasn't possible. On another day, we were told a restaurant was closed, then directed to a different venue where charging to the room was allowed. The inconsistent information made the experience confusing and frustrating.
- 4/5
The room was nice and a decent size the only issue was the bathroom sliding door didn’t open or close very well and kept coming off the rail. Got stuck in there at one point lol. The restaurant and breakfast was very nice and you couldn’t fault the staff so nice and polite The door needs fixing and maybe airing the rooms as ours was a bit musty smelling
- 4.5/5
Great location, very clean and friendly staff Breakfast, overpriced and not very many choices
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel and a great location close to the Metro and lots of great restaurants. Would be nice if the hotel offered free coffee in the lobby. You can make it in your room though and a there a a great bagel/coffee shop across the street.

The room exceeded my expectations. It was very spacious. The bathroom was my ABSOLUTE favorite part. The only thing I didn’t like was that the soaking tub bubbles were not working.
- 4.5/5
Very nice hotel, excellennt location (15 minute walking to Georgetown and city's main attractions). Very large room, excellennt shower, great bed and silent air conditioning. We used the pool and It was great too. I booked my stray with breakfast included, but I was notified during check-in that I had a $50 coupon to be used for me and my 18 year-old son for breakfast. Prices of the dishes were a bit too high so ended spending much more for the meals.
- 4/5
The room was good, big, clean. Liked the hotel. The location of it is great. The breakfast system is strange. When I did a reservation, I marked "Breakfast included". When I arrived, it turns out, it was not free. They give you a voucher who covers part of the breakfast, but not all. Plus - the amount does not cover standard breakfast like omelet, coffee and orange juice (including taxes which You pay separately).

very comfortable hotel; great location near Dupont Circle, convenient to Metro and buses. Enjoyable neighborhood with plenty to do within walking distance.

Nice hotel in a geat location and great staff. Parking rates extremely expensive. Hotel was going through lobby remodel at time of visit but staff made up for any inconvenience. We will stay again.

We were traveling with a dog. Staff ensured he was taken care of.

There was major construction at the property and it was crowded checking in and no lobby. Not ideal and not expected.

This is a decent hotel in a great location. The room was clean and well-maintained; however, the lobby is very underwhelming. The front desk staff was nice, professional and helpful. Housekeeping was another story. I flagged a housekeeper down on my floor to clean the room since I slept in. She said she would and did not provide the service. Also, I left a few clothing items in the drawer and notified the hotel when I landed back home. Housekeeping said they never saw any clothes and didn't log them. Either they didn't do their job and check the drawers or they took my clothes. Due to dishonest housekeepers, I'll stay elsewhere next time in D.C. There are plenty of great hotels in/around Dupont Circle.

My room was very spacious and clean! The female staff who answered the phone (and in person) was sarcastic at times.

The hotel is located in DuPont circle. All the restaurants and attractions were within walking distance so if you’re going to DC to explore, I highly recommend staying here. The neighborhood is very safe and everybody walks around without an issue, even late nights. The only problem I had was that there wasn’t a microwave on the floor, however they brought one for me to keep in my room. Also my room wasn’t thoroughly cleaned so I had to request it to be re-cleaned, the bathroom curtain had red stains all over it and the curtains in the room had stains too.
- 3/5
We were also unaware that the hotel was under renovations. One of the desk clerks said this information was on Expedia's website, which it wasn't. Expedia confirmed that was the responsibility of the property to make that information known to the customer before check-in and it wasn't. This resulted in phantom drilling early in the morning that none of the staff where aware of. But on the upside, the manager offered a $100 credit on 2 nights of dinners. However, my partner and I got sick from the first days breakfast and didn't want a repeat from eating dinner so ended up not using the credit. Another positive, we asked if the hotel had a microwave onsight for customers to heat up their food. They provided us with one for our room. We were not charged for that amenity. Not sure if that is normally provided or just provided to us because of all our complaints up until that point... lol.. So lots of ups and downs was my experience and again too many downs for the price.
- 4/5
The property is under construction. Read their website for an accurate description of what is available. There really is no lobby. The room was small but clean, quiet, with a comfy bed. The restaurant has a limited menu, there are plenty of food options all around the hotel. The pool is clean and relaxing, the gym has upper scale, well kept equipment. The staff were pleasant and helpful. I would love to go back and stay when construction is complete
- 4/5
it was a nice property room cleaned but under construction we traveled with two seniors one in a wheelchair and it was a major inconvenience for the staff was very accommodating
- 3/5
The Hotel was undergoing renovation and so there was zero luxury. Yet top dollar was charges. Lobby was makeshift. Carpets and room smelled, maybe moisture. Room and bed was otherwise clean and comfortable. Staff friendly. But I would not have stayed there if I had known a major renovation was being done. They could have given more special perks at least to guests having to go through this experience.
- 5/5
Very good even with construction going on
- 5/5
The front desk staff were very professional and courteous. Our room was fabulous. We’ll be coming back!
- 3/5
was very average (except for LARGE screen TV). I’ve stayed at many Holiday Inn Express’s where rooms were equally good. In fact, Inns often have a sofa/chaise/comfy chair. Sonesta only had the bed or desk chair for relaxing. Dining was a disaster. Temporary room had as much ambiance as an Inn/included breakfast area (except for a linen napkin)….& my coffee was served in a Cardboard Cup? Dinner was almost $100 and only a tad above average (shrimp tough & fries soggy) and, again, the only amenity was the linen napkin. I skipped their brunch on Sunday and went to a better hotel before saying goodbye to DC
- 4/5
The staff were attentive however the hotel is under renovation so they are using a temporary space for check in. The hallway on my floor seemed very tired and the carpet seemed well worn and the smell of cleaner was strong. My room was very clean however windows don’t open so the air felt stale. The room was in the back and there was no natural light at any point in the day. The location is very good and close to the Phillips Collection Museum and a 30 minute walk to Georgetown. The pool looked nice however I did not swim. The breakfast is served in a temporary space during renovations so I chose to go else where. While I like the location and the size of the room I was disappointed with not knowing about the renovations and also the stale smell.
- 5/5
When we booked, we knew this hotel was undergoing a renovation. It took awhile to get used to a makeshift lobby and restaurant, but boy does the staff deliver! They are helpful, positive and take care of any issues - FAST. A few maintenance issues were handled within 15 minutes. The room is beautifully decorated, comfortable, with closet storage. A second chair request was handled immediately. Food quality, presentation and service at the restaurant is stellar. Actually after 6 days in DC, we agreed the food was better here than anywhere else. Ask for slight modifications (I like more vegetables) and the chef complied. They offered discounts for effects of renovation on the dining experience. I will be back and look forward to seeing the newly renovated Royal Sonesta Dupont Circle.

Hotel is under renovation and understaffed. Basically paid to wait. The worst experience ever! Thankfully we only there for 2 nights.
- 3/5
no access to elevators, had to walk up to 2nd floor and around
- 5/5
Beautiful spot. Loved everything. Rooms were huge. Staff - so nice. Great gym. Great setup. Great location. Will return for sure.
- 2/5
we did not have breakfast or use the bar. As the hotel was undergoing renovations, the restaurant and bar were relocated to a small conference room which made more like a cafeteria or snack bar.
- 4/5
To the hotel’s credit, they handled the situation very well and refunded us for all of the restaurant-related issues. The hotel itself was otherwise very good: the location was excellent, the area felt safe, and public transportation nearby was convenient and easy to use.
- 3/5
Property was under renovation and didn’t have elevator service to your floor. You had to climb 2 flights of stairs to get to an elevator! Something that was not doable for a 78 year old with a cane. Instead I had to use a freight elevator in the kitchen. Also, the heater in our room was broken. It kept. Asking loud banging noises when the fan went on and off. I reported the problem the first morning we stayed and the second morning we stayed but kept getting runaround excuses as to why it couldn’t be fixed. They offered me a new room but I only had to stay 1 more night and didn’t feel like packing up my room to go to another room, only to have to pack again the next day.
- 5/5
Amazing room! Large, super bed, and ample spaced bathroom.
- 5/5
Room was clean and staff were very helpful.
- 4/5
Wonderful staffs.
- 5/5
Excellent service despite the renovations that are in progress
- 3/5
Room itself was very spacious, clean and comfortable.
- 3/5
The who front lobby is under construction at this time. The rooms are clean, but the renovations seem sloppily done. The wallpaper/paint/drywall work all seem to be just thrown together. We also got a paper saying alarms could be tested as early as 9am on the morning we were there. It was a one time thing but seemed weird to want to start alarms that early. The walls are thin and you can hear your neighbors. The staff was nice and the location is good. Within walking distance to DuPont and the Metro. Overall it’s an okay hotel.
- 1/5
To make matters worse, the elevators went out of service during my stay and remained out of service until I checked out. My room was on the 7th floor, which made this incredibly inconvenient, especially given that I have a bad knee. Having to navigate multiple flights of stairs repeatedly was not just uncomfortable, but unacceptable. The local staff, including the hotel manager, were extremely rude and unsympathetic when these issues were raised, which only made the situation worse. Overall, the lack of cleanliness, the lack of transparency about renovations, and the failure to resolve a major issue, such as the elevators, made for a very frustrating experience. I would not recommend staying here.
- 5/5
The food we enjoyed at breakfast was fresh and delicious.
- 2/5
I did not like that the hotel was under construction which was not disclosed on either the expedia or hotel site. The elevator did not come to the ground floor which required you to walk up a flight of stairs (with your luggage) before you could get on the elevator on floor 2. This should have been made clear in the booking process
- 5/5
Excellent service
- 4/5
The room was great, the staff friendly, professional and helpful in every way. The hotel was under construction. I’m planning to stay here again and I’m betting on 5 stars in all categories.
- 4/5
Can’t believe I was charged a resort fee when there wasn’t anything and $60 a day for valet, neither of which was disclosed before hand, until I checked in. The room was clean and comfortable, but I probably won’t stay there again.
- 3/5
We had no idea that the hotel was under construction. We arrived when the elevators weren't working and I'm handicapped so I was not happy. Being under construction meant there was no lobby. Nowhere to wait for a LYFT ride. Just not ideal. The staff was very nice and apologetic. Whn it's done the restaurant is going to be amazing. It is in DuPont but on the outer edge. Very clean
- 5/5
Very clean and excellent customer service
- 3/5
The hotel was under construction and the elevators did not serve the lobby floor. There was no notice of any of this until arrival nor any price reduction.
- 4/5
Clean room. Renovations are on going so that impacts the experience.
- 1/5
Not cleaned
- 2/5
Unfortunately, the experience was not the best. The staff could improve in terms of hospitality and attentiveness to guests’ needs. The rooms would also benefit from better maintenance.
- 5/5
Great location, big updated room, the hotel is currently under construction but they’re making do. Staff are very hospitable
- 5/5
Although hotel under construction the stay was great. Staff was excellent and went out of their way to be accommodation with requests and assistance. Had breakfast in the temporary dining room and it was delicious and they still serve our favorite coffee.
- 3/5
There should have been a discount because of the work being done.
- 2/5
Property is undergoing a significant refurbishment and tentative arrangements are insufficient. Totally forgettable experience.
- 5/5
Staff as very helpful. There was some refurbishments happening during our stay and they were very accommodating. Room was spacious. Bed was very comfortable.
- 1/5
I called and messaged the reception regarding a lost item, but have not received any response. I have been leaving messages for the past three days since discovering that the jacket was left in the closet.
- 5/5
Staff was very friendly. Room was clean. Location was awesome. A bit of a letdown that the pool was not open, but otherwise a great place to stay.
- 3/5
The photos online are misleading and seem to reflect post-renovation rooms, which was disappointing upon arrival. Multiple guests in our group had issues with cold or lukewarm shower water, and the AC wasn’t working at first in our room. The lobby was also hot and crowded, and the restaurant didn’t meet expectations. For around $600 per room, I expected a much better experience. I did reach out to management before posting this review, and I hope improvements are made.
- 4/5
Staff was accommodating and hotel is in an excellent location. Hotel was also clean. We had drinks and dinner the last night at Certo and it was excellent. The food was delicious and the drinks were perfection. The only negative was our refrigerator did not work, but not a dealbreaker. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel.
- 4/5
The hotel was under construction. The restaurant was overpriced for the offerings, and the location of the services kept changing each day.

Hard to know what it will be like after the renovation. For now, it's much like renting a sleeping room. Room was spacious but oddly sparse. One chair for a room for four people!? And no lobby to linger in. The restaurant is in a cramped space. Staff reached out via text asking to let them know how they can make my stay better, but never responded to my requests.
- 3/5
My room wasn’t available at 4:00. Rugs are not clean. Doorman was very nice. The rest of the staff was concerned about the March Madness basketball event.
- 5/5
I really like the hotel and location and have stayed here several times.
- 4/5
The room smelt a bit damp. The water in the shower was not very hot. The sink drained slowly. The lobby is under construction and a temporary entrance is being used. The elevators can get busy and slow at peak times. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was very spacious and generally clean.
- 4/5
Long curly hair in bathtub, torn couch cushions, door to bedroom from living room didn’t latch. But they did fix it when asked. Bathroom had no lock
- 3/5
Faucet in the bathroom broken, blinds broken, water damage on bathroom door.
- 5/5
Nice location, clean, and friendly staff.
- 4/5
Good location
- 4/5
Property was under renovations at time of stay so the amenities were slightly limited.
- 5/5
The staff was super friendly and the room we got was amazing with the tub. The view of DC that I had was pretty nice. They are going through renovations and the website does make it clear. The restaurant was good just super pricey. We spent like $119 for two eggs Benedict and two apple juices

Staff
- 3/5
Staff barely acknowledge you at the desk (except for one person named Bruce, who was lovely)
- 2/5
The front desk lady was rude when I told her about the construction when I told her I need to go to another floor if the 6th floor has construction and she said “well I haven’t gotten any complaints from other guests about construction” as if I’m lying about it, I found her response to be weird and unnecessary. After going back and forth she finally said I can get moved and it would take an hour if I want to wait and move my stuff or I can leave and people would move it for me. Immediately I said no I’ll wait because I don’t want people packing up and moving my stuff so she said and I’ll need a refund asap if I can’t get an appropriate room so I can go elsewhere. Got another nice room but she was so rude and weird never staying
- 3/5
Rooms smelled musty; hotel under construction; coffee is bad.
- 2/5
Our booking included $15\room meal credit per day but this wasnt explained to us in any great detail and front desk staff were quite abrupt and seemed stressed due to the refurbishments and temporary set up. We didnt bother using the meal credit as the restaurant menu was extremely limited and very expensive as well as the room itself being quite dark and dingy and not appealing at all. Due to repairs we had no water from 1am to 7am on our first morning in the hotel and then there was no hot water as a result with several complaints to reception. We were told they were working on it and the water got hotter intermittently throughout the day which was very frustrating. The rooms themselves were large with comfortable beds and clean but without basic amenities such as running hot water it really ruined our stay. Location is decent and about a 10-15 min walk to the main tourist attractions and lots of coffee shops, cafes and restaurants nearby. We didnt use the valet parking as again this is not included in your room rate and is expensive so we used a nearby parking garage.

It was fine but we didn’t have hot water and couldn’t shower ahead of the event we were in town for

- 3/5
We were unaware of the renovations being carried out prior to arrival either from the hotel or booking platform. It would have been better if this information had been sent prior to arrival - having experienced the ambience of public areas in other royal sonesta hotels this is something we were looking forward to enjoying again.
- 4/5
We enjoyed our brief stay at the Royal Sonesta. Staff was friendly and always greeted us whenever we returned. Hotel location was great as well, close to the subway station and restaurants. We took off one star because we felt like the bathroom could've benefitted from either more hooks or racks (for towels, clothing, etc ) and the regular space could've used perhaps a bench or couch or sitting chair by the door to put clothes or belongings on. Overall, we wouldn't mind returning to this location, especially once they finished the renovations. Hopefully the rooms can be slightly upgraded as well with more accommodating features.
- 2/5
There was dog poop in the hall that I also needed housekeeping to clean. In the restaurant the breakfast oatmail was pure water and after asking to replace it with a simple bacon and eggs. When that came out there was hair in the food and they had to redo that item. Also the room a was not like to photos, I know there doing a remodel. But the photos are miss leading. Also check in was in a hallway, Not. Happy stay, expected a lot higher standards from this location and hotel chain

Even in the middle of a major renovation, this property carries itself with grace and professionalism. Yes, the lobby and restaurant are currently under construction, with guests entering through temporary side doors and a provisional check-in area—but none of that takes away from the experience that truly matters. The room was very spacious, modern, and impeccably clean—quiet, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed. Exactly what you want after a long day in the city. What stood out most was the staff. From valet to front door, front desk, restaurant team, and housekeeping—everyone was warm, professional, and genuinely attentive. That level of hospitality isn’t staged; it’s culture. It’s clear this hotel is investing in its future, and if this is the experience during renovation, I can only imagine how impressive it will be once everything is complete in a few months. I’ll absolutely be back.

The electrical socket in the bathroom didn't work so we asked for an extension cord so we could dry our hair in the main room and see ourselves in the mirror. On the last night, water started coming into the room through the hvac area and the carpeting was soaked before we left. One day we came back to the room in the afternoon and when the cleaning people came to straighten up, we asked if they would come back at 4 when we were leaving. They said they would but didn't so the room wasn't cleaned when we returned. They did bring replacement coffee and cups when we asked. The hotel seems nice enough but our specific room was not a good experience.
- 4/5
Everything was great , it was very clean and petite. I ordered a deluxe room and deluxe king bed . I didn’t receive either of them . And by the time I changed rooms , they gave me a very small one compared to what I had already paid for .
- 2/5
The hotel was overall acceptable, the problem is that the room they assigned to us was too small and the view was to the rear of parked cars. This was very different tham the photos posted in Expedia. Maybe Expedia should check the rooms before posting the photos. When we asked for a room change they told us it was all they had available.
- 5/5
No breakfast consumed, however bagel spot across the street was fire. Haile so warm so friendly good peoples. Shout out to Maxwell getting us all situated.
- 5/5
Clean and spacious room. Amazing location, very friendly staff- super accommodating. The greeters that take your bags are super nice, the bar tenders at the bar also great. Would highly recommend.
- 5/5
The staff was very professional. Quick story I ordered food didn't know couldn't be delivered to room. Staff was very understanding and brought it to me. She was very nice about the situation. That's what I call great customer service.
- 5/5
Quick to address any concern; extra pillows and blanket. Courteous and helpful.
- 5/5
The Sonesta is welcoming, elegant yet unstuffy, playful and charming, made manifest in each property’s Royal Mascot depicted beautifully in detailed oil portraits: the Vicountess of Dupont Circle keeps watch over all the lobby comings and goings, the first thing seen by guests each day upon descending from their rooms. Though not overly large, nor need they be, the rooms are unfussy, well designed and chic. DC is extremely dense: so less is more. All amenities are just right. Certo, the in house restaurant and bar, bistro, serves wood fired pizzas, pastas, salads and more. As a single traveler, it’s my preference to sit at the corner of the bar, chatting with the bartenders, and guests. I’m amazed by the people met, conversations had, perspectives shared, all around easy congeniality and conviviality: it’s downright engaging. A guest could run up quite the tab, depending. This guest assigns $$$, but hey, it’s Georgetown. ★★☆☆ The surrounding area street scene is packed: small restaurants, cuisines of many nations, coffee shops, and small storefronts. A favorite of mine is the Thai restaurant directly across the street. Phad Thai Gai: $18. I’m out of words!
- 3/5
Room needs maintenance. Coffee machine was filthy. No ice bucket. Lights flickering Needs a refresh
- 3/5
The AC in my room was not working so we were moved to an equal room but I didn’t feel it was equal, I felt it was a down grade.
- 5/5
My experience was exceptional. The staff demonstrated remarkable friendliness and attentiveness. Furthermore, the upgraded room and the spacious jacuzzi-style bathtub significantly enhanced my stay.
- 5/5
Very friendly staff and large, clean rooms.
- 5/5
Early check-in and late checkout for a small fee.
- 5/5
The staff was great: housekeeping, front desk, door people, restaurant--helpful and friendly. Clean quiet room.
- 5/5
We really enjoyed our stay. All of the staff were nice. The room was really nice and extremely spacious.
- 5/5
Very friendly staff!
- 5/5
The room was a gracious size, clean, staff helpful.
- 5/5
What a hidden treasure. I stayed in a clean, large room with modern decorations. The staff was courteous and so professional, and the food was amazing!
- 5/5
Excellent
- 5/5
Everything was comfortable and perfect.
- 3/5
Room was nice & clean, didn’t really interact with the hotel staff. The big issue was soundproofing. We could hear the people talking or watching TV in the two rooms next to ours. One group was chatting until 2am.
- 4/5
The staff was very friendly & courteous. The room was clean with an appealing decor. However, the coffee machine was a pain to operate. It would serve guests well if there’s a simple electric kettle!
- 5/5
Courteous staff, clean room, ideal location.
- 5/5
Amazing hotel
- 5/5
Yes all was great
- 3/5
Bathroom ceiling collapsing.
- 4/5
I was disappointed that when my husband went to eat breakfast, it was reserved for a group. We wanted the continental breakfast. There was no prior notification about this.
- 5/5
Overall, a very pleasant stay. Room was clean, spacious and quiet. Bathroom counter a little small. All in all a good stay. Many food options around the neighborhood within walking distance and a CVS and metro a couple of blocks away from the hotel. If there was one thing negative is that they do charge a “resort or destination fee” on top of your room rate.
- 5/5
This hotel exceeded all of my expectations. The area around the hotel was very nice and we felt safe at all times. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that my family and I had an amazing time. They made everything so easy and enjoyable for us. We will definitely be staying here the next time we are in Washington.
- 5/5
Wonderful stay with friends for HU Homecoming! Love my DC! Enjoyed the stay and convenience of being close to campus.
- 5/5
Very clean facility, renovated hotel, staff very polite and friendly.
- 5/5
Clean and easy.
- 5/5
This was an amazing staff. They were very polite and hospitable! Can’t wait to go back again!
- 5/5
The location is awesome, surrounded by cafes of all types of cuisines and a short walk away from the Dupont Circle and a20 min walk away from places such as the World Bank.
- 4/5
Quiet work space. Many add on expenses. Such as each night was more expensive. Staff was friendly
- 5/5
The hallways need to be vacuum.
- 4/5
The room was huge and the bed was very comfortable! Further away from the touristy items in DC.
- 5/5
Icemaker on the 3rd floor (our floor) was not working. AC/Heating(?) unit made noises in the night. Room was big and clean. Area around hotel is great.
- 3/5
The hotel was basic.
- 3/5
We understood that there would be a robe and slippers in the room but we didn’t have either. The bathroom was scary….. both the shower head and water spout were pulled out of the wall. The toilet ran all night……. We reported it but nothing changed. Our tv was not working when we got there, but a nice gentleman fixed it the next day. The carpet was never vacuumed and …. The towels in the bathroom had hairs on them.
- 5/5
It took 2 visits from facilities to get our toilet flushing correctly. Other than that, our stay was perfect.
- 2/5
Needs a renovation
- 4/5
Free breakfasy
- 5/5
Clean room, complimentary upgrade, food walkable distance, lovely staff
- 5/5
👌
- 5/5
Ilias is the BEST! Thanks for the care and attention. they received our packages and got them to us safely and effectively. They gave us water upon check-in, a very clean and spacious room. The hotel is located in a GREAT neighborhood with lots to do and see and eat.
- 5/5
The guys that atened the door were very nice and polite. Helped us out a lot
- 5/5
Friendly staff. Lots of great food options nearby.
- 5/5
Clean room, friendly staff, and great location, and near several restaurants.
- 5/5
Does Royal Sonesta have Rewards program and opportunities to become a member? Also, the food, even though expensive, was DELICIOUS!!!
- 5/5
Yes
- 5/5
Friendly staff- excellent room. Downfall- the “resort fee” is not what I would consider a fee to charge- this want a resort in my mind! Had a pool and gym just like what I would expect at a hotel like this should have.
- 4/5
Great hotel, nice location, always a vibe.
- 3/5
It is a beautiful city, and we love traveling there to catch up with family/friends. Very scary at times with so many ICE Agents/DEA Agents /National Guards/ standing around in the areas that we have always considered safe and free. It made us feel like we were visiting a city in a communist country. The White House, once beautiful, looked like a resort with accessible nightlife, a brothel accessible entrance for the rich and famous.
- 4/5
Overall nice, our 4th time staying there, the main reason is the location to the metro and walking distance.
- 5/5
This hotel is in an excellent location with easy access to the metro and a wonderful hotel staff. The hotel restaurant is excellent as well. My room was large and spacious. I highly recommend this hotel.
- 5/5
The elevators are too slow
- 5/5
Great stay! Loved how spacious the rooms were! And the staff were amazingly kind. 100% recommend and would stay again
- 5/5
Modern room in a great location. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was very clean and quiet. We enjoyed our stay, including the DuPont Circle Farmers Market on Saturday, which was well worth a look!
- 3/5
Did nit receive any VIP benefits. Had to pay extra to check in early. No benefits
- 5/5
Great stay! Large rooms!
- 4/5
Thank you.
- 5/5
The Royal Sonesta is conveniently located just a couple of blocks from DuPont Circle - and the metro, which was key for us. The rooms are really spacious and nicely appointed. I would stay here again!
- 4/5
Restaurant was way to expensive
- 4/5
I like that it was close to the Metro station for easy transportation.
- 5/5
DuPont Circle is a great area to stay while exploring DC . This hotel was close to eateries, pharmacies, and transit. The staff was delightful and helped make our trip worry free. We will be back!
- 5/5
Great hotel!
- 4/5
Staff was excellent.
- 5/5
Mosquitos inside the lobby were the only downside, otherwise a great stay!
- 4/5
Nice hotel and well situated in beautiful Georgetown area. But $60 for valet parking? That’s crazy!!
- 5/5
No bedbugs room isn’t as big as advertised but it was still an amazing room. Great housekeeping. Great gym and amazing hotel .
- 5/5
Staff, gym, location and room.
- 4/5
Wonderful service. Our stay was for five nights so we requested a microwave and they provided one for our longer stay. Later we requested a change in room as there was a noisy next door neighbor and they accommodated that request as well. Beds are a bit worn out and they were dipping on the top but I think they could fix that for future guests. Clean rooma and great location close to metro and all the main attractions.
- 5/5
Room and staff were fabulous!
- 5/5
Pleasant stay
- 5/5
Great staff very accommodating and the area has a lot of restaurants and near to Georgetown
- 2/5
Room clean was weird too. There was a long blond hair on the bathroom table. Second day when we came back, we noticed dog food on our floor, and we absolutely didn’t have a dog. Pool was super cold, definitely not warmed nor playful for kids.
- 2/5
The pictures and descriptions of the rooms are not accurate. I booked a premium king suite 752 sq feet. Not even close. It was less than 450 and when I went down to ask for the correct room they were adamant I was incorrect.
- 5/5
Love staying at the Royal Sonesta. The rooms are large, which is important to my family.
- 5/5
The room is clean and quiet, and the front desk is extremely friendly. The dining experience is also top-notch. Highly recommended.
- 5/5
Many food options in walking distance!
- 3/5
It was really good other than the cleaning service
- 5/5
Great hotel, very comfortable. Great location no complain. Complaint.
- 5/5
The staff was so friendly and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable (had bath robes and slippers), there were so many dining options on the street and within walking distance. We enjoyed running in the neighborhood to the National Mall and a long the river. We would definitely consider staying here again.
- 4/5
The rooms were very large which was nice. The pool and restaurant areas were nice as well. Quiet neighborhood. Walls were thin so it wasn’t as quiet as other hotels. We didn’t eat here, so can’t comment on the food. We chose this hotel because of its location to the res line, but unfortunately that location was closed during our trip, which was unfortunate.
- 5/5
Only issues we had was with house keeping, they would make the beds and clean the toilets but for some reason they would not pick up anything from the floor.
- 4/5
Excellent location, safe, nice staff, cleanliness, Happy Hour menu at the restaurant. All good except that the room was not quite ready - frozen drink in the fridge & TV not working plus the issue with the bathroom door.
- 5/5
The restaurant breakfast was very good.
- 4/5
Lovely ropms
- 5/5
Property was very conveniently located to dining, transportation, and entertainment. The room was very spacious and clean with a comfortable bed.
- 2/5
The room looked worn. In addition to the toilet being broken, the spa drain in the soaking tub did not come with directions and it was an adventure to find a working ice machine. However, the front desk person was professional and personable and the waitress at Certo was excellent, though the person who seated us was not very accommodating.
- 5/5
Great people working the desk and front. Fantastic hospitality and a fun time all around.
- 5/5
Loved the ovionce
- 5/5
The staff was also incredible, and helped whenever we needed it. We were able to get a late checkout without any charges, and when there was a fire alarm during our stay, they made sure that guests were kept updated. Finally, the room was huge compared to most other downtown DC hotel rooms. The tub was spacious and wonderful for a relaxing soak, and the beds were comfortable. We will absolutely be coming back!
- 5/5
Great customer service
- 4/5
…
- 2/5
The light in the room flickered the entire time everytime you used it. There weren’t any main lights in the room only lamps which made it very dim. Other than that the room was nice. You get robbed on a destination charge & parking on top of the hotel price. It was close to $800 for 3 nights and an additional $375 for everything else. Then tips on the valet as well. I would have rather the holiday inn inside of DC
- 3/5
Bell and restaurant staff were exceptional. Front desk service with the exception of two people were a marked declie from my previous stay
- 4/5
Wonderful staff
- 4/5
Room was spacious however bed was not comfortable.
- 2/5
Hotel is much older than it looks in pictures, elevators were out of order most of the weekend sometimes with only one was working (took forever), one night a massive leak sprung in our bathroom ceiling around 3 am and poured water down for a couple hours which kept us up and soaked everything in and around the bathroom (and no concierge was there to help so had to deal with it ourselves), then the hotel would only refund me $50. Breakfast service was incredibly slow. For how expensive the hotel is, it is dingy and critically understaffed.
- 4/5
Excellent location for exploring DC
- 3/5
Property is ok. King size room have queen size beds in them. Have caution when parking in their garage they’ll be no sense of urgency or care if damage/theft was done to your vehicle.
- 4/5
Nice location, staff and room.
- 3/5
Room service was fast and on time. Appreciated the accommodation to get our unit earlier than the check in time.
- 4/5
Our large double queen deluxe room was roomy and kept clean on a daily basis. There was a small refrigerator but no microwave. When asked if one was available to use for guests, one was delivered to our room. The safe in our closet did not work, and various ice machines in the building were not working. All the staff we encountered was friendly and helpful and was quick to provide everything we asked for. There was a Kuerig machine in our room. I did not notice any coffee, cookies, or fruit in the lobby—only dog treats. Even though there are updates that probably are needed, we felt our stay was very comfortable and the cost affordable. We would stay at this property again.
- 4/5
I like the staff, the room was large and clean
- 5/5
good location
- 5/5
Amazing stay.
- 4/5
Everything was good and clean, perfect location
- 5/5
Second time staying here, due to cost, pet-friendliness, and proximity to a business conference. Service was great. No complaints! Would definitely stay again.
- 4/5
Great location. Clean, spacious, comfortable rooms.
- 4/5
Everything at the property was great however the neighbors were very noisy and slamming doors all night and morning so I did not get any rest.
- 4/5
Great room. The hotel is pretty big and with so many rooms there was quite some noise, including at night (doors, street cars and people, etc) Excellent location!
- 3/5
The sun doesn’t reach the pool area as it’s surrounded by buildings. Sun aside the pool area could better, is decent at best. On a good note, the staff is nice and room service was fast and attentive.
- 5/5
Lived the royal theme carried throughout. The room was spacious with comfortable beds.
- 5/5
I loved the room and the friendliness of ALL the staff!
- 5/5
Great staff
- 4/5
Good value hotel in the central location with many restaurants around.
- 5/5
Wonderful properly. So lovely and unique. It was also clean and quiet.
- 5/5
Great sized room, lots of restaurants, close to everything so easy to hop in uber to get around town
- 5/5
Great location!!! Lots of restaurants close by. The room clean and comfortable.
- 5/5
The hotel was clean, and our room was large. The staff was wonderful, and they wanted to ensure that we had a great trip. We were greeted by Maxwell when we arrived who made us feel welcomed. The location was perfect. There was a Bagel place across the street was awesome. We ate breakfast once in the hotel and the food was good but pricy. We did eat dinner once in the hotel and the food was delicious.
- 5/5
Restaurant had to few items on menu. Price was high for what you got.
- 5/5
Spacious rooms
- 4/5
Great service staff at the front desk; ditto with the bar and restaurant staff. I only wish I could have had a better room with a view but overall a decent stay at Sonesta Hotel. Great location near the red line metro DuPont Circle station.
- 2/5
Suite room missing sleeper sofa. Offered options that were not ideal. Had to accept rollaway bed as small children antsy. Bathroom and furniture in bad shape for the cost of the room. Main bed hard.
- 5/5
10 minute walk to the Metro. Nice neighborhood and local restaurants within walking distance. Room was comfortable and A/C worked like a charm.
- 5/5
Very nice property. Can’t wait to come back!
- 5/5
My teenagers and I had a great time! The hotel was in a perfect area and the staff was so nice and accommodating. The room was bigger than I expected and very nice. I would absolutely stay here again.
- 4/5
Good room. Not microwave available.
- 5/5
Super comfy and very clean suite
- 5/5
They took care of any problem immediately. Helped with directions. Would definitely stay there again.
- 5/5
Great location and close to many local attractions , and super friendly staff.
- 2/5
There was a crazy noise in room and we couldnt sleep and paid a ton of money . I did complain.
- 4/5
The property was great, location to all transportation options perfect, staff was very nice some need to be more vocal in WiFi info and breakfast included.. the breakfast was limited and some days the service was not on point. Don’t stay on second floor— the use of the gym can wake you at early hours— the pool being so close makes these rooms musty. But I did like the location very much.
- 2/5
Don't stay here
- 3/5
AC was not cool enough and doors to bedroom and bathroom do not close for privacy.
- 5/5
Very nice hotel, conveniently located near train. No complaints.
- 5/5
So nice
- 5/5
Overall, a great hotel very nice and clean. I’m not too crazy about the $100 per day security deposit tho.
- 5/5
Everyone on staff was extremely helpful and pleasant. Restaurant was convenient, serving good variety, though perhaps a touch pricey for such a property. Overall, I’m completely satisfied with the Royal Sonesta.
- 5/5
When we arrived to our room, the bathroom tub faucet was leaking a lot. We called the front desk and they sent someone up right away. He was unable to fix it so we were switched to another room. It was smaller than the original room. The staff were pleasant as they assisted with this, however, it did take up a lot of time and we did not make it out that night. We requested a microwave and they provided us with one. We also got extra towels with no hassle. Great stay. Parking is expensive, but convenient. Excellent customer service. Rooms are spacious and clean. Hotel Restaurant had limited breakfast options so we walked to a local restaurant.
- 5/5
Amazing management & great hotel!
