Clean room, friendly staff at the desk. Included breakfast is basic, dependable. Glad to have the waffle machines! Rooms are large, with available sofa bed. Bathrooms would benefit from larger sizes of soap, shampoo, etc. maid service is by request, which we prefer. This is the best hotel in Alameda. (We have tried the others, disappointed by each.)

Parking safe, breakfast good and varied selection. Staff friendly and helpful. Room clean and comfortable. Beds were fine, I’m just use to a firmer mattress. But fine for short stay. Have stayed here several times and will again!

The room was okay. Bed mattresses were too high, uncomfortable and squeaking. I told staff about them and they would pass along the comment to the managee but nothing happened. Since it was 2 nights, I left it. First day for breakfast, staff took too long to clean tables. Next day I had to tell staff the coffee ran out. Overall it was a decent stay and service was generally good.

Room was clean and parking very convenient. I think this is one of the best places to stay in the East Bay While it is not convenient to the Bart. It is very convenient to the ferry getting into the city. Alameda is a great little town to explore and there are so many excellent food options within only a couple of blocks.

The room was in fine condition and the desk check in was seamless. But the next morning someone was sawing and tapping on the pipes in the sink area it was like being at the dentist. The noise kept going for hours. Then the maid was knocking on the door and attempting to enter with the door latch on making a huge clatter. No peace was to be had in the morning. It didnt matter that they had a late checkout of noon. By 11am i was done listening to the pipe sawing and the maids knocking to come in. I gave up and left.

Good stay. Wish you had room service for meals.

Room big and cozy

This is always my go to stay in the area when we have events in Oakland. The rooms are clean, the bedding smells like fabric softener, the area is nice.

This is the 3rd or 4th time we've stayed here, and it's always a pleasure. Rooms are large and ckean, breakfast is nice, staff is friendly and location is ideal for walking around Alameda.

The front desk staff was great, accommodating , professional and friendly. I had no issues with my room, comfortable and clean. The hotel is located on a busy street, Webster Street so if your room faces that street expect some street noise, especially on a Friday or Saturday night. All in all a great experience with convenient parking and location.

Rooms were serviceable

Lots of parking, free continental breakfast that was continuously refilled, clean rooms, they were able to hold our bags prior to check in, good size room for 5 at a great deal! If you are looking for a room not too far from San Francisco would definitely recommend and stay here again.

I wanted to reserve a room with the jacuzzi in the bathroom but got something else instead, these rooms need to be more easily identifiable for potential guest as other hotels such as the Hilton or four seasons have. Overall, the stay was pleasant.

I was surprised by how big the rooms were. The sitting area felt like its own separate space. It was nice to have a sink next to the microwave and fridge, although it would’ve been great to have a kitchen towel available to avoid staining the bath towels. The beds were clean and comfortable. The walls are a little thin, but the AC drowns out most of the noise. It was an extra bonus to have breakfast available downstairs. I would definitely stay again.

they had exactly the room available we needed, and it had a microwave. it was so insanely cheap and easy, and the staff were so wonderful! when we visit the bay again we will be staying here again

Rooms are quiet and spacious. Liked the handicap bars around the stool and tub, but tub was too tall to be considered handicapped accessible. Have stayed here before, will definitely stay here, again.

The hotel is in a cute area of downtown Alameda (the island) we found an excellent coffee shop to eat breakfast at. The room was clean quiet and spacious - would stay here again when visiting the area!

The jacuzzi was broken and the walls are thin so you can hear your neighbor cough. if you have upstairs neighbors that have children, you can hear them run around until 10 pm.

I paid over $400 to stay at this hotel. Adter i requested and paid for an addittional night the manager came to my room said i stink and i needed to leave by 1200 it was 11:45. I took pictures of the room condition because they are trying to keeep my deposit. I wont be returning and thos was my favorite hotel two years ago i guess management or owners xhanged or perhaps i just never encou tered them before idk but i do knowi dont want to come back.

I'm a former teacher and not squeamish. I think the property needs to focus on the cleanliness of the entire room, not merely the obvious surfaces ( blood speckles on door frame, makeup or other substances around bathroom on walls). The typical places one notices were all fine: linens were clean and fresh, windows cleaned, etc. Just gross walls. Would stay again. How they clean a little slower and rectify this issue.

Maintenance came into my room while I was gone to replace the locks and left the hardware on my desk, used my toilet, left a wad if paper towels on my dresser and the closet open. Gross violation of my privacy and downright disgusting.

The staff were friendly and very helpful. The room was very clean. I had a room on the ground floor next to a walkway and had no problem sleeping. Lots of food choices within easy walking distance. A great place to stay.

I haven't stayed here for over a year coming back after staying in other places made me realize how much better Hawthorn Suites is its so much cleaner and quite than any other places i stayed at it's one of the best places i stayed at by far it's so quite you do realize how many others are there in tell breakfast time it feels like me and my daughter were the only people staying there even when me and my daughter walked in the room she took a deep breath and said i missed this place and so did i this is definitely my favorite place to stay just wish it was cheaper but its worth it 😄⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Me and my traveling business partner needed a room for the evening. Discovered that Berkeley Marina was too sketchy for us so I had to pivot. Ended up here… more professional front desk, cleaner, newer, bigger… oh AND 50% less than Hilton DoubleTree… if/when I need to come back, this is the place I’ll stay again.

Breakfast was kinda sparse, but there were a lot of places to eat within walking distance. I liked that we had a sink, fridge and microwave so we could buy groceries. Soda machines and ice on every floor by the elevators.

Easy access after coming off the freeway plus Webster Street is full of shops, restaurants and interesting establishments. I enjoy staying at the Hawthorne as the rooms are spacious and they’re free breakfast is really nice.

The receptionist was good,but quite layed back. The hotel and room were clean and comfortable. Signs in the lobby about vandalism in the parking lot were worrying. Also the second night there were 2 guys sitting in the parking lot smoking near our cars and that made us nervous.

We booked 2 rooms here and had a lovely time! The rooms were very clean, beds were comfortable, and loved the kitchenette! There was plenty of parking and next to a lot of shops. My friends and I walked over to the Chinese restaurant on the corner which was also amazing. Would definitely stay here again.

The room was noisy -- on the ground floor facing the street. I encountered a huge bug in the bathroom. I killed it. Great location, though.

The hotel is well maintained and the room was very clean and comfortable. On the breakfast can do a little better. But other than that everything is good.

I stay here regularly for work. It provides everything you need and little that you don't. Not the most luxurious place, but it's perfectly fine for my business travel.

Just ok.

This hotel is ratty and threadbare. The employees don't care. The key card system on the doors is outdated and the cards demagnetize every day, sometimes more than once. The breakfast food is the absolute lowest quality they can get (ie, cheapest).

My stay would have been rated excellent for all categories but unfortunately my experience was marred by some other guest that was clearly smoking with smell permeating the hallways and my room. Disappointing since this was advertised as a no smoking hotel. Thankfully, this did not happen during the whole stay but if you have little ones staying, and we did, it's especially annoying.
