Room is sunny during the day! Nice sheer curtains allow guests to see out during the day, but no one outside can see into the room. There are also panel curtains that guests can close at night for privacy. N/A

Not bad if you’re looking for something affordable. Overall great.

I had a wonderful stay at the Rodeway Inn Alameda, the staff of Nina, Mena, Nick and Anu and the maids were all very friendly and helpful and I will always stay here when I'm in the Area.
- 5/5
Very nice and clean room
- 5/5
Parking was fine, inside the room the bathroom toilet base and behind it was very filthy
- 5/5
We had a pleasant stay! Room was spacious and hotel was close to everything we needed.
- 5/5
The room was spotless and so was the grounds. Very impressed with everything!!
- 5/5
I didn’t expect much due to the pictures that make this place look old, rundown….but perhaps I had a recently renovated room? Almost flawless. I truly feel like I got a tier of service that is only provided for people that spend $250 a night on a room. I can the room was CLEAN. Yes, cleanliness is the bare minimum but when everything is so clean including the light switches not have grit in between, the bed frame itself was free of dust. The glass mirror don’t have toothpaste and water spots. What can I say? I was so impressed I extended my 3 night stay to a 4th night. Multiple towels, face rags, hand rags and friendly immediate housekeeping that tidied up the room and provided new towels & amenities. Maybe to some what I’m describing truly is bottom barrel but my experiences at hotels San Francisco Bay Area has always been lackluster for the price. Rodeway Inn Alameda is the opposite. I will absolutely come back. No doubt. Thank you to the family running this place.

- 5/5
Well stocked, enough parking space
- 2/5
I dont recommend this hotel not safe, open parking space and lots of hobos living in the car and in and out of rooms.
- 1/5
I couldn’t even understand what the motel owners were saying, very poor English.
- 4/5
First time stay for this brand and selection because of location and it did not disappoint. Easy well-lit parking, clean microwave and fridge plus small table, a desk, dresser, and hair dryer. Public transportation at the property's doorstep yet found the room to be well insulated.
- 2/5
Housekeeper left us a note about cooking but we weren’t cooking in the hotel room.

When you pay $2000 for an used 1999 Mustang, don't expect a Porsche 911 Turbo... When you pay $90 for a hotel room(like I did) in the very expensive San Francisco Bay Area, don't expect the Four Seasons or Ritz Carlton... I was traveling solo and that I only needed a room for 9-10 hours, I made a last minute decision to save $100 and switch from the Hawthorne Suites(very nice!) to this very budget situation. PROS: -Cheap, No bugs, cheap, beds were actually decent, cheap, hot water, free parking, cheap, good location to walk to eateries, bars and shops, cheap, fridge, cheap, microwave, cheap, very safe neighborhood(all of Alameda?), and did I mention its cheap? CONS: -Run down, very old, needs lot of new paint, needs a deep clean, needs to bedding(IKEA is very close by?), needs a little bit of artwork, there is a coffee machine but I didn't dare risk using it, I'll highly likely never stay here again, but would do so if I was in a lower income bracket. Again, you get what you pay for.
- 5/5
I had to extend my stay in the bay area on short notice, and then I had to stay longer, eight nights altogether. As it turned out, I had to spend seven days and nights in the room, not leaving at all. The room was a safe, comfortable place to spend that time, and the staff were kind and considerate. If I had been able to leave the room, the location would have been an excellent base for a visit to the area, with easy walking access to plenty of places to eat, drink, shop, and enjoy local parks and walking trails. The location is also convenient for access to local public transportation, including local and transbay service.
- 5/5
The area was really quiet during the night
- 1/5
We need help from the desk person, and they could help us, but did not care. I would recommend another hotel. We then went to Coral reef a few miles away, paid $21 less, they helped us into a better room and they had a free breakfast. DON'T BOOK WITH ROADWAY
- 3/5
I just needed a place to stay for the night to wake up early and get to a meeting the next morning, and the Rodeway Inn was good enough, I suppose. There was hair left over in the shower/bathtub, and some pretty heavy mildew on the shower curtain, but the rest of the room seemed okay. The hallways tended to be loud - I got woken up in the morning by a loud guy yelling at his buddy outside, but it was fine; I needed to get up anyways. I can't say for sure that I would never stay here again, but I think I would heavily consider alternatives.
- 5/5
The Rodeway Inn in Alameda is a historic landmark having been in operation since 1965. Take a walk back in time and enjoy Paisley patterns on the curtains and sheets. The Rodeway Inn in Alameda is located in the heart of town right on the main street and is easily walkable with plenty of food options and public transportation nearby. This is a Family owned hotel with an attached restaurant that offers room service and check in 24/7 This is the only place I stay when I am visiting the Bay Area. You cannot beat the good vibes and hospitality of this place oh if these walls could talk they would scream don't listen to any of the nasty reviews this place is old and a faucet may be leaking but you cannot match the old Alameda feel of this place great location, great staff, immaculate vibrations 10/10 and the price is unbeatable
- 4/5
Checked in at night, booked the same day. Quiet area, walkable to dining and stores. Room was clean, bed was comfortable. Customer service was great! Con: Building is somewhat older, can hear your next door guests, and there was mold on the shower curtains. Would stay again if needed.
- 2/5
Shower curtain had mold, lots of dust collected on phone screen overnight. Other guests were noisy, talking loud on their phones early in the morning.
- 5/5
Great price. Simple, straightforward lodging for weary traveler.
- 2/5
While the room was fine, the walls are thin. I could hear the conversation in the next room. They weren’t shouting but were laughing and talking until 2:00 am. The street noise was also loud. I only got about 2 hours sleep.
- 5/5
Amazing and peaceful
- 1/5
Not good service all people looking mean I been multiple times already asking the same questions like Iam a new customer. Room smell dirty .
- 1/5
The room is unhygienic overrun with cockroaches.
- 1/5
I booked a non smoking room and was given one that smelled nauseatingly like smoke. The next room was dirty with burn holes in blankets and dirt on floors and counters. Toilet not clean. I did not feel safe nor comfortable.
- 4/5
Close to Alameda commercial district
- 1/5
I reserved a non smoking room and when I walked in the stench of smoke hit me. I got a second room that had burn holes in the blankets and dirt debris on the floors. The toilet had not been cleaned. My anxiety was triggered and I asked if I could check out. He said I had to call Travelocity and Travelocity called them. I was able to cancel the second night and receive a refund. I went to my event and came back, got my bag and went to the Hawthorne down the street. Never again.
- 5/5
I enjoy staying here
- 5/5
However, there were a few cockroachs. So don't bring all your stuff in. Lol

- 4/5
Check in is extremely late at times.
- 1/5
Check in was easy the lady was very nice however... Room was filthy! The floor was wet and sticky and walking on it turned out feet black so we wore shoes the rest of the stay. We didn't use the shower because the bathroom was so dirty, walls floor, base boards, door etc. Amenities weren't bad hair dryer didn't work. Over all wouldn't have been a bad hotel if it was properly cleaned. Wouldn't stay there again sadly since it was very conveniently located to main strip and the price wasn't bad for the area but not worth it for the lack of cleanliness
- 4/5
Convenient motel. Area was a bit noisy at night.
- 5/5
Friendly
- 3/5
Its a place to crash. Nothing wrong with it, just very low frills.
- 3/5
This is an OK place to sleep. That's about it. It needs a little attention. An example is there was blue masking tape on the laminate floor to cover defects (broken spots) in the flooring. Room 209
- 5/5
Fast checkin. Courteous staff. Adequate parking. Even with the meal at the Pho restaurant (had the #9 excellent!) my $ total was considerably less than i usually spend on accommodations in Oakland, so yippie! hot dog! and Merry Xmas to me!
- 5/5
Good service
- 5/5
Nice place to stay.
- 2/5
The non-smoking room smelled awful, like old cigarettes and mold, and there was human hair on the “clean” towels. When we requested fresh towels for the room, there was hair on those as well. One of the women at the front desk came off as snippy and was generally unpleasant. Would not recommend staying here for any amount of time.
- 4/5
Close to College of Alameda; nice staff. Easy access to bus lines.
- 4/5
Clean and Simple. Located next to shopping. Clean. Quiet. Staff helpful.
- 2/5
Dont stay there, it is very run down and unloved
- 1/5
Despite my search and location history and the properties I’ve used with Expedia ALL being in Sanfrancisco, the app somehow at the last minute booked me in alameda Oakland and not the rodeway inn that I was directly across the street from. I paid and thought the coast was clear. Only when I went to check I did I see that was not at the right property. I used $75 one key cash I had toward the stay so I’ve lost that plus the balance I paid out of my own money. I also now had to book an extremely cheap rundown motel and had to pay a taxi to haul us and our bags. I did talk to Expedia and rodeway about this and got zero help. Why would I all of a sudden want to switch cities? Seems fishy to me and I plan to push for recompense.
- 1/5
Filthy. Trash from previous guest was left. A chain smoking family was obviously living in the room next door. Bedding was stained and had holes. Beds had only two small crappy pillows. Flooring was coming up… walls and woodwork were filthy. We left.
- 5/5
Nice mgt.
- 1/5
I didn’t like anything about the property.
- 1/5
There is not a family place.
- 1/5
Poor 😠
- 4/5
I really like the location i Alameda and the price.
- 4/5
I had two really comfortable nights here and will stay again.
- 1/5
It felt like and argument from the time I walked to the desk. My card was declined because a fraud alert was sent to my by my card issuer regarding this transaction. I went on to Extended Stay America in Alameda, and had a very nice stay there instead. So it all worked out.
- 5/5
Great place to spend a night. Peets near by. Walkable distance to the beach. Very nice staff. Thank you
- 5/5
This amazingly affordable hotel in the expensive Bay Area is run by a lovely family. It is simple, no frills, but the beds are comfortable and the rooms are clean. It is not a super quiet location, but is located near shops and food. This is a great place to call home while visiting the bay on a budget. The people running it are responsive and friendly. It is now my go to place when I come to the bay for work or pleasure.
- 5/5
good price good location
- 1/5
First night I didn’t stay. I was with friends Second night I went to my room 9:00 pm The toilet had pee on it Sink had water on the side like someone just used it Complimentary lotion was used. On top outside had dried up lotion
- 5/5
Excellent
- 4/5
The property is not top shelf, but are continually doing maintainance. Its convenient and the price is right
- 5/5
Rodeway Inn in Alameda, CA has an excellent manager. She is always professional and respectful of tired travelers. We've used this Inn on many occasions and have always been satisfied.
- 5/5
Very accommodating.
- 5/5
Simple but clean, functional, and comfortable.
- 1/5
I've been to truck stops cleaner than this motel.
- 4/5
Worked well for us and convenient
- 5/5
When I jus needed to relax and I got it. this hotel was quiet, clean and very convenient. Great location - plenty of choices for food & easy check in.
- 4/5
Hotel was mostly quite. There were a few guest smoking weed outside their rooms that was a bit of an annoyance, and a domestic disput in the room next to mine, but management handled these problems well.
- 2/5
It appeared that the property was in the process of being renovated, but it looked worn. The swimming pool had been filled in with dirt, but not maintained. Covered with weeds. Room curtains were Ill-fitting and could not be completely closed, resulting in early morning light and lack of privacy. I realize that it takes time and cash to fix the problems, but the whole facility was really run-down and in need of help.
- 5/5
Large room. Quite except for a prostitute working out of her room two doors down and someone in a hotel room on the first floor making noise. Managment took care of it though.
- 4/5
During my stay the lock was malfunctioned but the staffs tried as much as possible to fix the problem. While waiting they offered water and an extra room in case they can’t open. Very helpful staffs.
- 4/5
.
- 4/5
Overall the place is nice. Some things could use a touchup but still beats other places that are a dump. Some of the other people staying were kinds sketch, it still beats staying in Oakland.
- 4/5
An older property, but still servicable for my needs
- 1/5
No one at desk to check in for over an hour while they were asleep in back
- 1/5
This hotel is very run down, and not well taken care of. After checking into my room, and seeing how dirty and unkempt it was, I immediately went to the front desk and told them I wasn't going to stay there.
- 4/5
The room itself was clean and well-equipped, if a little dated. The inn's location is well-placed and adjacent to local retail & shops, however the exterior & office is in definite need of renovation.
- 2/5
The paint was peeling everywhere around the facility and it felt neglected. My room had duct tape on the floor. It feels like the bare minimum is done to hold the place together
- 4/5
The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Great, inexpensive motel.
- 1/5
The room smells of mildew & mold, my sinus was running non-stop and I was coughing all night & for a day after staying there! The health department shiuld be contacted, they would shut yhis place down for sure! Also, they only put 2 hand towels in the rooms, no shower towel at all! This place is filthy through & through! Hotles.com should remove them from thier site not only for health reasons but saftey as well. A few years back an older woman was killed in the driveway during a purse snatching incident right in front of the office, yet nobody saw a thing!
- 3/5
Much of the room was dirty - bathroom floor had hairs swept into the corner, the corners of the kitchen all had some kind of nastiness, the wall need cleaning, the inside of cabinets, fridge, and closet could use a good wipe down, etc. The carpet ought to be replaced at this point. It's pretty nasty and worn. There isn't much sound proofing between the room and the outside. Waking up to crows and seagulls right outside my room was more common than waking up to my alarm.
- 5/5
Clean rooms, but needs paint job on the building. Bigger Tvs and this place would be more quaint.
- 2/5
Sheets were old and full of holes and stains. Mattress sagged. AC/heat worked, but only blew the fan when actively cooling or heating. Would have had a much nicer stay if the fan could just stay on, because the noise outside would have disappeared.
- 1/5
Dirty inside isn’t deep clean and outside is horrible place
- 4/5
In-room heating very noisy. Parking lot being renovated - cold not park by our room.
- 3/5
Ended up just booking a couple days to get my mom in a room and out of her car.
- 1/5
One of the housekeeping ladies said I yelled at her and I didn’t and said I had my room dirty watch is wasn’t it was just toys on the floor because I had kids
- 3/5
Needs upgrading immediately....
- 2/5
beds are old and uncomfortable. staff was just so so. no truck parking for 26 ft truck.
- 4/5
A little dated, and needs some improvements. But for the money and location this was great! Room and bed was comfortable and clean. Shower works with nice hot water! Free parking in a good area. I liked it.
- 1/5
Room was worn and musty, bed was old and felt springs, and there are people living in the hotel like it's apartments that act like they own the place. They had their door open, loud music, smoking, stomping and generally being loud inside and right outside on the balcony. Three huge guys acting like children, stopping louder after we complained and wanted to change rooms. Unfortunately, they were all sold out, so we asked for a refund and got our things and left at 1130 pm! I didn't feel safe or comfortable in that room or hotel. The lady in the front was great and understanding of our situation but not much she could do.
- 3/5
Safety certainly a concern here, so keep your antennae up.
- 5/5
It was adequate. The staff was extremely helpful and the location is good due to the fact that its in Alameda and very close to the city.
- 1/5
This facility was on of the worst I've ever stayed in. Even included roaches in the bathroom. Dirty and unkept. Will never use this service again since this is the kind of hotel your associated with.
- 5/5
Check-in was extremely friendly. Attached restaurants not open for breakfast. Beagle shop and Starbucks & Peet's w/in walking distance. Room was clean and basic.
- 5/5
I got what I need, and that was three successive nights of solid sleep. The room was clean, it was relatively quiet outside, and I was able to sleep comfortably. The close proximity of restaurants, drug stores, and coffee shops to the hotel makes it difficult not to book here. Plus, my office is only a mile away!
- 5/5
I like the utilitarian value in staying here. The prices are reasonable, the office staff are extremely professional, most of the people staying here seem to be in town to work, I don't need a spa or pool, and it doesn't matter that the one maid was unfriendly (i don't rely on the maid service during my short stays anyway), and there is a good choice of dining establishments in very close proximity.
- 2/5
No está en buena condiciones
- 2/5
Bed Bugs! Ouch!
- 1/5
There were plenty of restaurant's in the area within walking distance of the hotel. The Beach was easy to get to and enjoy. I had reserved a non-smoking room and was given an ashtray room with bullet holes in the front door. I guess it was too close to Oakland. Call ahead of your trip to make sure that they will honor your choice of room. While I there I did not notice any trouble in or around the hotel. Just very upset that they but me in an ashtray room, It reeked of cigarette smoke. If you are in to that, go for it. My son couldn't enter the room before he was sick of the smell. They did finally put me into a nonsmoking room and the rest of my stay was enjoyable. Again, CALL THEM to make sure you get what you asked for.
- 5/5
Great little motel
- 1/5
Worse experience, the room smelled like someone pee on the floor and nobody clean it. At least they should disinfect and clean the rooms. It is the basic service of any hotel. We are humans not animals.
- 4/5
Simple but just fine. Convenient location.
- 3/5
Dislike: Old, rundown motel, flimsy door lock, filthy stained carpet, cheap mattress and pillows, broken coffee maker, thin walls, extremely rowdy and noisy, especially on the weekend.
- 2/5
Room was extremely dirty. There was a big sticky patch on the wooden floor. When I wiped it down the white towel I used was filled with a heavy layer of dirt and other people’s hair.
- 1/5
I can handle old, in need of updates, etc as long as a place is clean and safe. Avoid this hotel at all costs. I would have gone elsewhere but it had been a long travel day and it was only one night. The mattress is extremely thin with worn edges so the springs are felt. The room was stuffy even with the HVAC running. Poor window seals so someone even opening their car door sounded like they were in your room.
- 4/5
The bed was too small to supposedly be a queen size. And the mattress was not comfortable at all. But I selected this property primarily due to it's location and price.
- 5/5
Love it
- 4/5
A nice hotel for what it is - a no-frills place to stay while traveling. The shower curtain had spots of mold toward the bottom, otherwise, the room was clean & appears to have been renovated within the last few years. AC worked fine & there's a microwave and mini-fridge in the room. Parking was readily available. Hotel staff was friendly. There are a couple fast food options across the street, as well as a Walgreens; and there's a coffee shop a couple doors down. Relative to other options in the area, the room was reasonably priced.
- 2/5
The rom had been remodeled. But it was disgusting. The shower curtain was moldy. There was blood on the walls. Used soap and shampoo in the shower. I spilled some water, when I wiped it up the towel turned black. The sink smelled. The bed speed was stained. The a/c was super noisy. I got there @9pm and left before 6am. I was there approximately 9 hrs and was asleep for 7-1/2 of them. I’m sure my list would be longer if I was there longer.
- 3/5
The key card lock did not on the door to my room, I had to have the staff use the master key to get into my room. I was told that it would be fixed the next day. It did not get fixed.
