Reviews
The hotel receives mixed reviews with guests appreciating the friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms, and great location, particularly for events at the MVP arena. However, common complaints include issues with parking, breakfast quality, and room temperature control.
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Clean rooms
- Limited parking options
- Breakfast quality varies
- 2/5
In walking distance to the concert venue. The room we stayed in was shabby and the shower was grimy. The lamp was missing a lampshade and the pillows were wrapped in plastic and not comfortable at all. No parking available. The hotel does not provide a parking option other than a public lot not related to the hotel. No valet parking option available either which makes unloading with a family challenging to say the least. Additionally, the rooms were not ready at the agreed upon check in time.

The room was spacious, quiet, and comfortable. The water pressure in the shower was nice. The breakfast was delicious with options including biscuits, fried eggs, shredded cheese, waffles, oatmeal, cereal, pastries, bagels, etc. I found a free parking spot (on Saturday night) in front of the hotel. But my husband had to park his car a good distance away. FYI- the parking garage does not have EV chargers.

bed was comfortable, towels good quality, shampoo and shower gel as well no window in the room - none. Most motels have a window, how is this even possible for a 3 star hotel for $273 a night A/C unit's cover had fallen off, and the thermostat was highly inaccurate. Street parking only, luckily i found a street parking spot as I arrived late, nothing in front of the hotel but it was nearby

The room did not have any windows and the temperature was 79 degrees. Not one of the nicer hotels I’ve stayed at.
- 5/5
The breakfast was the best we’ve had at a budget-friendly hotel. Any staff members we met were very friendly and pleasant. The bed was very comfortable.
- 4/5
I didn't like the lack of parking. However it was close to MVP arena.

Breakfast I was assured in 2 different emails that I would have adjoining rooms with my family. We weren't even able to get on the same floor.

Parking on the street was hit or miss. Should have something set up so people don’t have to drag luggage from a mile away in the parking garage.
- 5/5
Very clean. Staff was polite & accommodating. So nice to have complimentary breakfast.
- 5/5
Very nice, clean and quiet room. Walking distance to MVP Arena. Very nice staff as well.
- 5/5
Everything was great and Tamika was very helpful
- 5/5
Immaculate! Sedik at the front desk could tell my wife was cold when we checked in and he upgraded us to a room with a fireplace. Friendly courteous staff, central location.

Great experience for my one night stay. We were kindly upgraded by the front desk manager
- 5/5
The hotel room itself was excellent and the location was perfect. Only negative was the staff was not very friendly, apart from the morning desk staff during checkout who was excellent. During check in the desk attendant spoke to another person behind the desk more than me. The interaction with me were brief words like "ID" or just pointing to the card reader when he wanted me to pay. It just felt like we were a bother to him for checking in.
- 3/5
There are two Fairfield Inn Marriotts in Albany, I went to the wrong one because the confirmation didn't have the address. Staff were fine. Room was moderately clean.
- 5/5
Good hotel for a business trip. Breakfast was on time and hot. Room was clean and the beds were a good firmness for me. Internet speed and coverage was good. The only odd thing was the toilet.... It was elongated (must have) but it was pretty low to the ground... Lower than any toliet in a hotel room I've stayed at. Not uncomfortable but something I noticed. The central air worked. The front desk people were friendly enough. The area the hotel is located is fine, I've heard it's not the best neighborhood but within 10 minutes walk there were around 10 restaurants. I didn't notice or have any of the issues the one star reviewers mentioned about this hotel, maybe I got lucky or maybe because I stayed when there's no construction? I would recommend this hotel given the price point and free breakfast.
- 5/5
Polite staff. Clean room. Great breakfast. Super happy with stay. Everything as expected. Including the street parking.
- 5/5
Comfortable beds
- 4/5
It's no frills and good in relation to price but it really is just a place to sleep.
- 1/5
Cancelled my booking and gave no refund
- 3/5
The room was small, only 1 working elevator, lobby had building materials in it. Overall I thought it was overpriced. However I thought the front desk staff was excellent
- 5/5
Easy check in process. Friendly front desk receptionist.
- 3/5
However, upon entering my room, it initially appeared clean. Unfortunately, upon closer inspection of the bathroom, I noticed hair on the wall, presumably left by the previous guest, as well as hair on one of the bed sheets. If your trying stay in the Downtown Albany area, the Marriott was placed in the heart of the location, but that last stay was equal to the Ramada Hotel in Albany, with the main difference of the Marriott had more modern appliances/ furniture.
- 5/5
Good location, safe area and attentive staff
- 5/5
Everything was amazing
- 4/5
The room was nice but had hair from previous guest in the bath tub.
- 1/5
When I arrived the front desk clerk was complaining openly about guests asking him for waters. Got in the room there was no shower curtain in the bathroom just a rusty holder I couldn't take a shower, went down to front desk to advise the frint desk lady pointed to some long boxes behind the desk and said, " The new shower curtains are down here". Stated she would get back to me had to take a shower in another room. Will never stay there again. Marriott they make you look terrible!
- 5/5
Great place to stay. Close to railway station.
- 4/5
Wish there was a parking garage that came with the hotel. I was able to park in front of the hotel 8 pm-8 am parking is free.
- 5/5
Staff, Rooms and area are very nice!
- 5/5
The location was perfect for seeing the Capitol building, Corning Tower, and the museum.
- 5/5
Great stay! Friendly staff. Location was key everything in walking distance.
- 5/5
Good short stay good location downtown
- 5/5
Excellent
- 1/5
The room had no air conditioning, the fridge was broken, there were no windows, and the towel rack fell off the wall. It was not Marriott standard. I request a full refund.
- 5/5

- 5/5
The experience was welcoming
- 3/5
Staff when we arrived late night after a 6 hour flight delay were very rude and unwelcoming. Staff in the morning we very kind and helpful.
- 5/5
Excellent Customer Service, very friendly and helpful with answering questions about the local area!
- 5/5
Property is in the process of renovation-badly needed. Location is a plus. Staff is competent, carding, customer focused!
- 4/5
The trespassers following my husband into the hotel and to the elevator to beg when we didn’t have anything. The amount of renovations and the mess in the lobby. The only positive is the fact that it’s close to MVP Arena and it was convenient to reach after our show was done.
- 3/5
We had a one night stay over the weekend. The hotel
- 4/5
It was good for the price and was near the mvp arena
- 3/5
It was nice that they (Marriott) was restoring a historic building in downtown Albany. Didn't like the odors of new carpet and paint. Door to room locks did not work properly..staff was a bit grumpy.
- 5/5
I’ve stated before & id gladly do it again, perfect for mvp arena !
- 3/5
Under construction paint, ladders, and various projects started in the lobby and bathrooms out of service.
- 2/5
The bed was not very comfortable. The hotel is renovating and the lobby was dirty and there was no drinks and very little snack choices available. I was misunformed about breakfast time and almost everything was cleaned up by my arrival at 905 am. Another couple who said they got there at 850am and most everything was gone. Only waffles and juice were left. When i asked front desk staff about it they were rude and disrespectful to me. I will not be staying here again. My last stay was iffy but this one was horrible. You have to walk 2 blocks or more to park your car and pay to park in a public garage. The hotel has no parking available. I had reservations for 2 rooms and she only checked me into 1 until i asked despite me saying there were 2 when i arrived booked at the same time and she daid she saw that. Happened the first time i was there too.
- 1/5
Very disappointed, will never go to this hotel again.
- 5/5
Property was very clean and staff were very friendly. It is in walking distance to shopping, restaurants and mvp arena.
- 4/5
Good property for a downtown area that isn't very well traveled on weeknights. Good staff with fast check in and spacious room. Good for what it is meant to be - no nonsense no frills downtown property.
- 4/5
Need to vacuum the hallway more
- 5/5
Overall great, downtown Albany can be a little sketchy, but not the hotel’s issue.
- 5/5
Nice hotel. Friendly staff. In walking distance to many eateries.
- 5/5
The front desk agent was very nice and efficient.
- 5/5
A nice stay
- 5/5
Room was nice. They were doing remodeling. Only down side is they don’t have a parking lot you have to park 2 blocks away in a parking garage
- 4/5
The shower head was awful, there was more water that dripped down the back of the shower instead of spraying out through the head. Pillows and bed were comfy. Wish the lobby had an area to sit and hang out. The back breakfast area had the lights off and seemed off limits at non breakfast times.
- 5/5
Nice and close to Albany medical and downtown Albany.
- 5/5
I liked the spacious room.
- 5/5
Decent place for a quick one night stay.
- 5/5
Friendly quiet nice room
- 5/5
I was able to book at the last minute for a fair rate. Quick check-in and good customer service.

- 5/5
Awesome property and awesome staff!
- 5/5
Service good, room clean
- 5/5
Hotel room was very plain. Thought we were getting a room with a fireplace, oh well. It was very clean and staff was very friendly!
- 5/5
I was stuck in Albany unexpectedly and this was the perfect place to spend the night. Everyone was friendly and helpful!
- 5/5
Easy to find, great parking, very friendly front staff. Our room was lovely very clean. We were only a few minutes walk to excellent restaurants and to the comedy venue we were going to.
- 5/5
Excellent trip. The hotel was nice quiet place to rest. Enjoyed the breakfast, nice selection.
- 5/5
Great place to stay for the price
- 5/5
The room had a beautiful bathroom, but the shower tiles were fill with mildew. The rest of the room was well kept. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast options are limited. Overall we had a great stay.
- 3/5
Overall it was good. The guy working the front desk that checked us in was very friendly and helpful. On the other hand the gentleman working the breakfast area the following morning was very aggressive and comparative when we asked about coffee. He kept saying the pot to the left was regular coffee but we kept telling him it had “hot water” printed on the pit. He kept coming back saying I don’t care what it says I am telling you it is regular coffee. We were just taken aback since all we were trying to tell him is people will find it confusing but he refused to budge in his stance and wouldn’t even put a sign in front so other customers would not be confused as well. In fact a couple of guys costing from out of the country came up and your staff person was very combatative and aggressive to them as well. Unfortunately sue to that incident we cannot return. It was quite unsettling
- 5/5
Conveniently located and nice front desk staff
- 5/5
The staff members were all very friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
Amazing stay!
- 5/5
Nice hotel but only street parking.
- 4/5
Nice breakfast and would stay again. Only negative is there is very limited street parking and no dedicated parking for the hotel.
- 5/5
Very convenient and comfortable! Avoid encounters with homeless.
- 1/5
I spoke to manager Lora the next day. First comment that came out of her mouth was since it booked through third party Expedia. She therefore commented there was not much she could do about the situation. She could have said so very sorry. What can I do for you. I was then told I was rude. I believe it would be beneficial for Lora to enrol in courses in customer service
- 5/5
Breakfast was good and kept very clean. Liked i could walk to restaurants. Staff very helpful
- 5/5
Everything was nice except for them bamboozled me with changing over $6 for a 25 cent bag of potato chips… That’s ridiculous !!!
- 4/5
Shower door in the bathroom didn't shut all the way which caused water to get all over the floor.
- 4/5
Every thing in the bath was old
- 4/5
Room was clean and comfy, check in desk was friendly and helpful. Soundproofing is not the best; we heard drunks in hallway well up to 1am. Probably just our luck more than hotel issue.
- 4/5
It was a close walk to MVP arena.
- 1/5
I booked this hotel through hotels.com on the night of Saturday, September 21. Upon arrival I was told by the front desk staff that the hotel was completely booked up and the had no rooms. I called hotels.com about this and was told the hotel did not update there numbers, and if you look at hotels.com it still said there 5 rooms left. So basically both parties were blaming the other but here I am stranded, hours from home, without a room now. I sat on the phone holding for almost TWO HOURS while hotels.com staff was supposedly trying to find me a new hotel only to be told all hotels were fully booked. You mean to tell me every single room in every single hotel in the city of Albany was booked? I find that very hard to believe. I was not offered a room in a nearby city or town either. I asked to speak with a supervisor and was told someone would call me within 30 minutes to an hour. It is now the next night and I still haven’t received this call. I ended up having to drive home in the middle of the night and stop and sleep in my car because I was so tired which is unacceptable when I booked a hotel specifically to avoid this and enjoy a small weekend getaway. Who can I speak to about this because this is absolutely disgusting service on the parts of both the hotel and hotels.com. Both parties should be ashamed of themselves but yet neither suffer any sort of consequences, meanwhile I suffered multiple. This needs to be resolved and made right immediately.
- 3/5
The proper term likely is that this place has seen better days … and seems to be stuck there. The room lacked style and ambience with no view from the window. Telephone conversation from the neighboring room were audible; hallway traffic imposing on room environment. Beware of the slippery tiles in the bathroom when either coming out of shower or entering with socks. And: make a breakfast reservation somewhere else … even just for coffee.
- 4/5
The hotel is central, the rooms very big and comfortable bed.
- 5/5
This was the best hotel stay I have had in years. All the staff were very friendly, the entire building was clean and quiet. This is the first time I have EVER stayed in a hotel were the entire eating area was spotless , food was excellent, the staff was friendly and plenty of choices to eat. Highly recommend
- 5/5
Great stay, staff were very friendly and helpful
- 3/5
The room was very clean. The bathroom was very spacious. Bed was comfortable. Area seemed a little unsafe. Breakfast was awful. Ice cold eggs. Had to pay for breakfast elsewhere.
- 5/5
Beds were comfy, room was clean, breakfast was decent. Don’t like how there isn’t parking though.
- 1/5
The hotel was fine. It was the harrowing experience of checking in that was traumatizing. Initially my key to room 308 didn't work. After returning to the front desk to reactivate it, I entered the room to discover an occupant guest laying on his bed. He wasn't very happy, nor am I. I was told the manager would be compensating me, but after 2 emails have not heard back. This is unacceptable. Can expedia refund my money? Thank you. Michael Davison August 19, 2024 room 308, then 307.
- 5/5
Great friendly staff and nice clean room. Great location
- 2/5
One of my worst hotel stays ever, and I've stayed in hundreds! I checked in last night around 9 pm, after circling for what seemed like an hour trying to find parking. Everything was OK except the non-functioning wi-fi, so I went to bed, and suddenly at 2:30 am some stranger burst into my room and turned on the lights because the overnight clerk had given him the same room. He left without turning off the lights, so I had to get up and turn it off, and of course never got back to sleep. This morning the breakfast staff arrived very very late, so there was pretty much nothing to eat and the coffee was lukewarm & weak. Finally, I went back to my room to find that my key had been de-activated. This place is a pathetic excuse for a hotel. I really should have my night comped, and obviously I will never stay here again.
- 3/5
The staff was very knowledgeable and inviting. This was the best part of our weekend getaway. Also, the parking was an issue. There was a lack of places to eat and things to do in Albany. Overall, the hotel is good.
- 4/5
No parking but other than that very good..
- 5/5
Gerald was so friendly and helpful..
- 3/5
There was no one at the front desk when I got there. You cannot access the building without a room key. Had to wait a long time to get access.
- 5/5
We were checked in by the front desk manager, who was just lovely. I would definitely stay again.
- 5/5
It was a great stay.
- 5/5
Very clean. The elevators are a bit dated, but it's fine, they work. Staff was very friendly. I had a spacious room. It was quite good. The breakfast was okay. The breakfast area was quite spacious. The area around the hotel is a bit dodgy...there were quite a few homeless people around--one looked very aggressive. Although I did go to St. Mary's for Sunday Mass...gorgeous church, worth the detour. It's just too bad Albany doesn't have more civic pride, there's so much potential in this town.
- 3/5
Great location, but our room had a portable air conditioner. It was loud an ineffective.
- 4/5
A lot of pan handlers out in front of the property. Not their fault, but awkward none the less. Also, the safe didn't work in the room. Luckily I was only there by myself for 1 night and I didn't have anything of value that needed to be locked up.
- 5/5
Good
- 5/5
The manager Gerald gone above and beyond to accomodatw me and help me up. Amazing service, rooms clean and spacious good breakfast as well.
- 5/5
Staff were super helpful and friendly.

- 5/5
Easy to get around
- 4/5
The concierge was friendly and affable, the room was clean and comfortable. We were happy with our stay. However TV was not working well, the screen kept getting dimmer and the volume kept going down. We also had a window that faced a wall. Otherwise, we loved everything else about our stay.
- 4/5
Good place to deal with the reality of being in Albany
- 4/5
My stay was good. Room was clean and ac was working great. No issues or problems
- 5/5
Loved it
- 4/5
Most restaurant closed, streets deserted except for panhandlers. What a shame! Concert we attended Sunday night at the "Egg" was wonderful, it's a great venue. Can recommend this Fairfield Inn but not for weekend stays.
- 5/5
The area is great and there are dinning options accross the street.
- 5/5
This was a nice place to stay downtown and would recommend to anyone.
- 4/5
Easy, comfortable and good location
- 5/5
Just a great property for overnight accommodations when visiting downtown Albany.
